Some of you never watched Karmaland VODs with subtitles on, and then went through the process of feeding those subtitles into Google translate just so you could have a chance of being able to kind of know what was happening, and it shows

So we've got a new update on the Admin Situation, and this one's…A little complicated, to say the least.

Basically, Quackity has stated that he is opening the server tomorrow to welcome the new Korean Creators, but for the time being, there will be no NPCs, including the Eggs. He's also temporarily laid off nearly, if not all the workers he has, including the people doing the Twitter Updates.

And apparently many of them found this out through the stream, much like we did. This seems to be the biggest point of contention for many people, and I'll admit I'm not happy about it either. The only justification I can think of for this is that he didn't want people to find this all out second-hand from people who potentially don't have the all the information. But even with that, I think they should have been made aware before us, even if it was just by a few minutes. That wouldn't have been ideal either, but it would've been better than not knowing at all

The person who brought this forward initially, Lea, has stated that she knows for sure that "Jay" (The person who made the unauthorized update before) was fired, but to her knowledge, some of the other Admins who caused the problems are still employed. I think this might be one of those things that she doesn't have the full scope of information on, since we were also just informed that pretty much all the Admins aren't currently employed. We do have to keep in mind that she's getting this information from someone else who is apparently still in contact with the team. However, it's obvious that even some of the Admins who weren't initially fired aren't entirely in the loop, which means she wouldn't have been getting all the information either. So I think we need to take some of the things she says moving forward with a grain of salt

I'm not saying she's lying by any means, but when you have limited information to work with, playing a game of telephone to get that information isn't always gonna be that reliable

On top of all that, a lot of people seem to be in agreement that Quackity may have implied that money was being embezzled from him and Quackity Studios. I'm not going to say much on that, since it's TECHNICALLY speculation. However I will at least say that it doesn't seem entirely out of the question, and I wouldn't be even slightly surprised to learn that this was the case

Regardless of how it happened, there was a loss of funds, and this loss of funds means that the server has to start slower than before. Hence the absence of the NPCs on the server, and the current stop on Twitter Updates. It sounded to me like he's planning on bringing people back slowly, making sure they're paid for their roles from here on out. And as the financial situation stabilizes, we'll likely see more Admins return to their roles

I want to believe as of now that things are improving. If they weren't, I believe we would have heard about it by now, from the other Admins. We've already seen an Admins in charge of one of the Twitter Accounts say something, and I'm sure we'll get more news like that soon. But we would have DEFINITELY heard if absolutely nothing was going on. I don't think it's fair for the Admins to have not been notified beforehand, and I think that should be the next problem to fix for sure. But the way I see it, what's happening now is a step in the right direction. It's only the first of many, and not even necessarily a big step, but it's a step nonetheless

Once again, I want to remind people that we aren't going to see these changes being made until we're shown them. People can try to tell us what they know as they find it out themselves, but for all we know, they're only showing the bad parts of what's going on. We should really take any future information, good or bad, with a grain of salt as well. It's easy to say things are getting better or worse, but I think we should wait until we see the changes for ourselves and go from there

(I also wanna say that I've seen speculation from a few people, mostly on Twitter, that "Jay" is probably just Quackity trying to cover his tracks and make a scapegoat for what's happening. But with the information we have, that seems incredibly unlikely. Lea didn't know who he was when he first made his unofficial statement, but her recent tweets imply that she knows who he is now. And considering that she's the one who brought all this up to begin with, I HIGHLY doubt she'd keep quiet if he was actually Quackity)

So now, again, all we can do is wait, and continue giving our support to the people who need it. I want to believe that things can get better. I want to believe that Quackity is trying his best to improve things

Try and stay positive, everyone. Even if the server isn't the same as before, we'll be fine. Even if QSMP shuts down entirely, we'll be fine. At the end of the day, people's health and mental health is more important than a Minecraft Server, and if you feel like your mental health is being impacted by what's going on, please take some time for yourself. Worrying constantly over something we have zero control in isn't going to help anyone. If you need to take a step back, please do so. And when you're ready to come back, we'll still be here, even if the QSMP isn't. We've built a great community, and it's been incredibly fun being a part of it. And I sincerely doubt it's going away, regardless of what happens next

um. ok. nutshell summary. this is gonna be long. (tw: talks about more abuse and SA allegations being brought against other ccs)

other mcyt cc allegations after wilbur:

you know what happened with wilbur. after all the support shelby received, another streamer caitibugzz (another brighton cc) came forward with her own story about being sexually assaulted by a cc at vidcon while she was 18 and he was 26. she didn't name him but like with wilbur it didn't take long for people to figure out she was talking about georgenotfound. anyway, uh, that spiraled into a thing. george said a lot of shit, dream involved himself way too much, it was a mess.

immediately after that, punz's ex girlfriend, andi, came forward and discussed how toxic their relationship was and detailed a time they had sex while she was blackout drunk, which is SA. punz did respond insisting he didn't realize how drunk she was, it turned into a whole thing, andi's response basically boiled down to read both sides of the story and form your own opinion.

also then punz jumped in on whatever the hell was going on with dream and george with george's own allegations and discussed how in his entire friendship with dream he's felt very intimidated to speak out against him and often thought of him as a boss more than a friend. along with that he also brought up a point regarding his ex girlfriend andi, but I'm not going to go into too much detail on that because I don't believe andi wanted all that information to be made public and punz later deleted the posts.

at the same time another thing happened. another cc in the brighton group, lexie marie, had spoken out multiple times about how her ex was emotionally abusive to her and the day before wilbur posted his 'apology', she and shelby even did a whole stream together discussing abuse and their experiences. anyway, lexie's abuser was publicly named as wisp, so yeah he responded with an 'apology' of his own.

NOW AS FOR QSMP:

like a week or two after wilbur's 'apology' was posted, a former admin of one of the qsmp updates accounts came forward on twitter and discussed the terrible working conditions she and all the other admins have been having to deal with working for quackity studios. we learned that the updates accounts and the egg admins were unpaid, and were often pushed to pulling more hours or doing extra work they shouldn't have. this blew up in the community and quackity ended up doing a stream to say he basically has to do an entire restructure of the server because the finances for the server were being severely mishandled and he was under the impression most of these people were getting paid when they were not. (also, during this stream quackity made a quick aside to say that wilbur was going to be removed from the qsmp)

since then, more admins have left the team (agent 18, ramón's current admin) saying they haven't received communication and aren't sure what's going on.

one of the issues the initial whistleblower brought up was that pomme's admin had just recently been removed from the whitelist for the server and kicked from the discord server without being given much of an explanation. the french cc's all collectively said if pomme was not given back her role they would not continue on the server. today pomme's admin revealed herself and made a post saying she still hasn't received any communication with the team and is quitting entirely. dapper's admin resigned in solidarity with her.

then today quackity did another stream discussing how things are taking time because they have to work out a lot of internal legal issues and because it's legal stuff he can't give that many updates. he's also been hesitant to update people because he doesn't want to make false promises, as right now the qsmp does not have enough money to pay the egg admins and they won't return unless he finds funds for that because he's ending all unpaid positions. also, as people have left the project, some have been posting private screenshots from the qsmp discord or from communications with the qsmp team and quackity has said these leaks have been causing issues with the legal stuff they're dealing with, and also what's going on has been misconstrued as a result of these leaks, so that's another reason he's been keeping quiet about things. but he's determined to work this all out and to keep the qsmp going, but he completely understands if people don't want to stick with the project or if people who have worked with it wish to leave.

as far as the union goes, the initial whistleblower was a french admin for the updates account and so when she left the studio she contacted a french union about the unfair working conditions. the union has posted on twitter calling out quackity studios saying they're in violation of french labor laws and that if quackity refuses to communicate with them they will pursue legal action. except today we also learned from one of the union guys on twitter that they have not attempted to email him at all. they made their posts on twitter and said it's quackity's responsible to contact them. for the record, quackity deleted twitter a while ago so he's not on that platform right now. as you can see this raised some eyebrows.

so uh yeah. I'm missing a lot of details I know but I was trying to give as much of a summary as I could hitting all the major points. you have missed literally the most insane past few weeks.

kind of feeling like the rest of the fandom just wants french fans to shut up and leave already :|... why should we be trusting quackity when he hasnt even given any more updates on anything. ("ill keep you updated everyone" -quackity (lying) on his stream addressing issues). "trust that theyre working on it!!!" is starting to feel more and more like people are actually meaning "omg stop complaining so much!!! youre ruining my enjoyment".

of course the new announcements feel like damage control why would we expect anything else? they refuse to talk about anything and start to dangle shiny new things in front of the rest of the fandom so they get distracted from french complaints. why should we trust that anything is happening when the syndicat says that the fired admins havent even been contacted by anyone after more than a week?

im so done at this point :|. i cant even lurk on twitter anymore because all the french accounts i looked at either went inactive, private, or deactivated entirely because of how many death threats they were getting for daring to expect more of quackity.

i dont necessarily think Q was lying or is trying to sweep the situation under the rug but yeah ! people can and SHOULD be wanting more communication and transparency

the « stop complaining and trust bc you’re just spreading negativity » mindset that im sometimes seeing is driving me INSANE like ?? this isn’t discourse or drama it’s a workers rights violation 😳 personally what is ruining my enjoyment of the server is knowing that the characters and story ive loved for months was built on the exploitation of people who also loved the project. that and the fact that it seems like the community im a part of was a second thought the whole time 😳

and this isn’t only a french issue like yes most of the ex admins who spoke up were french but the issues impact every community !

I know that since this is a BIG issue it’s gonna take time to solve and i can even understand keeping the server running but introducing so many new people + an awards event right now is so idk….

I also feel bad for the korean and german creators who are coming in at such a bad timing

Alright, here we go again. QSMP Day 26 Lore Update, based on what I saw and what I gathered from other people's summaries on Twitter:

First of all, I'd like to address the fact that Census Bureau seems to be more active these days, since Cucurucho was already spying on Vegetta before warning him about the no diamond rule.

Early on not much happened, Wilbur and Philza were introduced to each other's eggs and they had some family bonding time. It is now canon that Wilbur is Philza's son and Chayanne's brother, as well as Tallulah being their granddaughter and niece respectively. When things start to go downhill is after they log off, at Slime's stream.

At first Slime was just gathering resources, running away from mobs and trying to invoke angel!Rubius. Since q!Slime didn't know about Flippa's death at that point, he just kept finding stuff to give her whenever he sees her again (pain).

Everything would change with Cucurucho's visit while he was mining. They started asking him a bunch of questions about Flippa, and Slime started suspecting something had happened to her and demanded they told him. Cucurucho told him to "figure it out yourself", but in the end they did show him the clip of Mariana killing Flippa again.

Slime then enters a state of denial, refusing to believe his daughter is dead and hallucinating with her, however he seemed to finally accept her death after invoking angel!Rubius. Rubius addressed the fact that he had promised him an extra life for Flippa, though he said he had to "ask his father and other people" (aka he most likely promised him that in the first day of the event without knowing if he was allowed to do that lmao). He told Slime he had to choose between bringing back Flippa or Tilín, and Slime ultimately chose Flippa, but asked to give the life to Tilín if she didn't want to revive a second time. He also asked Rubius to not tell Quackity he was given the option to choose.

We now move on to Bad and Foolish, who learn about Leo's "friends": a platypus called Perry, Cucurucho themself and a mysterious black creature called Dark. This creature looks very similar to the monster Quackity drew according to a vision he had after Tilín's death, and according to Leo it protects her, though Foolish isn't very sure of this.

On his part, Maxo was getting drunk due to his grief over his egg's, Trump, death until he meets up with angel!Rubius, who accidentally tells him about Flippa's possible revival. Maxo confronts him about his own child's death and Rubius makes a deal with him to revive Trump if Maxo builds a church for him. However, soon would appear Cucurucho, who tells Maxo not to trust Rubius, and instead tells him that there's a chance that Trump can revive if he is online the next day, during the funeral for the eggs that have died. Maxo threatened then Cucurucho if they didn't actually bring back Trump, and they just... Laughed at him.

He then goes to visit Bad and Foolish, who by this point have had to fight a bunch of Withers Rubius spawned, to tell them about the deal and ask them for help. However they get interrupted soon by the binary code creature as well as more dragons attacking them. They are able to run away and get shelter though.

Maxo, Bad and Foolish start discussing and theorising some stuff, with Bad and Foolish agreeing to help Maxo if Cucurucho doesn't help him after all. Maxo also expresses worry that he's going to be turned into a robot like Luzu, as he was also told to go visit him by Cucurucho.

Turns out: Cucurucho was spying them, which they realised, and they followed Maxo as he ran away from them to make sure he actually believes them and tells him to trust the Census Bureau of the QSMP. The other two went their separate ways, with Bad going out of his way to check up on all the eggs and make sure no one would die out of neglect again.

And I believe that is all. Take into account I had to gather much of this from other people's commentary + the official update accounts so I might have left something out, but hopefully this is good enough.

Also, it seems something will be happening at the funeral, and since someone said "the worst is yet to come" my bets are Dark is gonna appear and won't be as kind as Leo believes it to be, but that's just a theory.

dumping some thoughts before the event happens today,

We know that this isn't the end of q!Jaidens quest to gaurantee the egg's safety from her interaction with Cucurucho at the end of her last stream. Even if the end goal isn't related to the egg's safety at all, I'd assume that whatever happens today would tie into the idea that this is all for the egg's safety, so they can keep up the appearance it's for that reason.

It might be related to the nether, though I don't think they'd open it up while people are still traveling and all. Maybe it's a pre-cursor to the nether opening? (like, they get/do something that'll help them in a later event to unlock the nether. idk) I suspect that the update accounts smelling and hearing things is related to the ice melting, and not to the nether, but I wouldn't be that surprised if it were.

It could be new members, but if it were, I think that they would've posted an announcement on Twitter of who's joining already. Also, while this doesn't directly rule out the possibility, cc!Quackity has stated that there's going to be an announcement of new members in a week or two, with no mention of members joining today, as far as I know. (if it weren't for these meta reasons, id probably believe that this is what's going to happen later today tbh)

I don't think it's going to be returning players either, considering that many of the inactive players don't play since they have other obligations (wilbur, dan, kameto), or choose not to play because of intense fans demanding them to take care of the eggs and not letting them do what they want to do (spreen, rubius, missa). To me, it makes no sense to re-introduce them as a solution to the egg's safety with that in mind.

I really do think that something is either going to come out of those cyro chambers (those faceless federation workers? a new type of character? created in their pursuit of perfection), or something will have to go in (the eggs, for their safety? the people??). None of these ideas touch on why the EN/ES update accounts specifically are the ones hearing/smelling things; I don't have much of an idea of what that could be about honestly.

Also, since the timer is on the qsmp.global site, I was thinking that maybe the start of the audience vote will coincide with whatever is happening today? or maybe the dates will be announced.

There were a couple interesting things about the post that escaped our little corner of fandom and, now that things have calmed down, I kinda wanted to talk about it.

Don't reblog this. It's just me, in the most self-indulgent and egotistical manner possible, babbling about the experience of having not even the most controversial thing I've ever said be inescapable for two days.

1. I actually hide my follower count, but my notifications made me curious, so I looked last night. I gained such a huge influx of followers over the past couple of days. Way more than a post that has 1200 notes on Tumblr should warrant. I don't know what to do with that information. Obviously some Twitter crossover there, but like, bizarre because most of them did zero interaction beyond following.

2. The amount of people who assumed, based on one post, that I only watch c!Crime. Like, I have watched most of the Egglore. I've watched all of Techno's streams. I have watched Eryn's lore and soooome of Tubbo's and some of Foolish's and all of Quackity's and a huge chunk of Sam's and Eret's. It's just so funny that the assumption is "if you think this part is better and are pointing out a consistent trend then it's because you've never watched anything else." Nah. I have. I was half watching/following CPK's just the other day too. Hell, most of the time, even if I can't watch the stream, I go and read update accounts for what happened in a stream (even if it's just casual RP).

3. So there's an interesting thing with Tumblr posts where you still have to have some sense of brevity -- a one off text post isn't going to get into who I watch and the issues I have with other storylines. There's just no way to cover the points every single person wants you to make and have it still be viable on your dash. Like this post is getting too long right now and I'm going to put it behind a cut. But Tumblr was built to be more of an open exchange so that makes it okay to make multiple posts or engage in dialogue with the inbox about points you couldn't hit or could only mention. When a post is removed the Tumblr environment you lose that and get a lot of "but what about's" that are things you've likely discussed.

4. Despite what weird gossip and discourse I read, no I didn't get any particularly nasty anons or hate. I got a lot of messages and that's why my inbox was closed. I'm bad at answering messages on the best days and the amount I was getting caused a bit of anxiety. Most were incredibly polite (even the ones annoyed and disagreeing). I will say I closed my inbox before things on Twitter went wild so who knows what it would have looked like.

5. There is no ill will between me and the person who put the post on Twitter. I saw that a couple of times and wanted to be clear there. I knew it was there thanks to a bestie and because I saw, using a blank twitter I have for following artists, a mutual on Tumblr retweet it. I never once asked for it to be taken down. They reached out to me when the post got a couple thousand likes to make sure things were fine.

6. Yes, I went to dinner with some friends and came back to a dozen messages about Antfrost. No I do not think it was about that post and tweet. It'd be funny even if it's not as impressive as the person who got vagued by Techno so hard that Techno became a lorehead just to talk about their post. Also, most of my mutuals are lovely people.

7. Yeah, I still stand by what I said. The dsmp has more unfinished storylines than finished ones and the lack of organization means people end up clinging to past tried and true formulas for making content. Yes, a living server means storytelling is different but anyone that's done an RP knows that doesn't mean you just have dozens of unfinished and abandoned plotlines and quests. Yes, I do think c!Crime are some of the only people on the server to start storylines and actually finish them and, as a result, people attach to them looking for content or guidance. No, I don't consider the Eggpire to be part of that group that finishes shit because "in two weeks" never happened. L'Sandburg and all that was "in the future after the finale" and then the finale didn't happen. I have lots of issues with how that was ditched. That doesn't mean I think the content that was produced isn't good. It's honestly just the most glaring case of pacing and fallen plot lines impacting what's a really good idea.

8. All of the comments about how "cc's don't owe me content/this is disrespectful" drove me up the wall. Yeah, no one owes a person shit. TV shows and movies don't owe me being made either. Authors don't owe me finished books. But if you're marketing your ability to entertain me, through stories or RP or music or whatever, I reserve the right to critique what you're trying to sell me.

9. It's interesting how many people don't consider the dsmp and its streamers to be a product and that, because it's not as blatant as a Marvel film, it's somehow immune to normal complaints. Like, I do agree that it's non-traditional media, but no one is out here streaming for free. Once you agree to be on a giant RP server that's known for RP, it's very hard for me to go "oh they're amateurs" because I know it's a career choice. They're professional streamers/entertainers. Every streamer, every single one that streams full time, is trying to sell you something. Even the smaller streamers (not even getting into how dsmp has skewed people on what a "small" streamer is) are trying to sell you on supporting them by doing content they think you'll stick around to see. Hell, I've seen people make "lore" a subgoal and if that isn't the most blatant example that the dsmp is a product then I don't know what is. Them having fun or doing it because they enjoy too is just a nice byproduct that changes nothing.

10. I agree my language can be inflammatory. But, you know, a lot of the times that's because it's a joke or a bit about how dramatic our corner of fandom is about everything. It, uh, does not translate well when it's exposed to other people.

So. George lore yesterday fucked up me. I wanna go over the major shit and from what I've seen joining the stream and seeing mental breakdowns on Twitter.

C!Dream killed C!George simply because he said no to helping Dream blow up Kinoko Kingdom. I find this very interesting showing how both characters behave to each other now. Even in his dreams, George protects Kinoko Kingdom because it's obviously his home. And when Dream doesn't get what he wants, he throws a tantrum (killing George).

Also C!George mentioning C!Tommy in the argument and C!Dream just going completely silent says a lot and I just wanted to put that out there.

Now George goes on an unhinged rampage after Dream kills him. As of right now, I don't know everything that happened in order so bare with me y'all.

George goes into Tommy's house and kills Shroud. Seeing the tweet from a lore updates account I follow made me go "??????". Like what did Shroud ever do to you, huh? He's just an itsy bitsy spider and you killed him out of cold blood, you mad fucking man.

Then he blows up Tommy's house. And watch him not get exiled for it-

And he also blows up the Big Innit Hotel. Uncalled for??????

After that, Dream and Techno show up. And George kills Dream (which by comparing both of their PVP skills, George should've lost unless he has to try-hard) and the most shocking thing, kills Techno. Now 1 v 2'ing Rivalsduo, in my opinion, is like some sort of death sentence. But somehow George just kills them both.

George went to the Antarctic Empire and blew it all up, including Phil's house and Ranboo's house. Completely unnecessary and they did nothing to you.

Now there's Las Nevadas, where I truly believed this was just all a dream. C!Quackity said the most of character thing in my opinion. Which was, "I'm going to blow up Kinoko Kingdom because it's very flammable :D!".

Cue George blowing up Las Nevadas and killing Quackity in the process.

Karl shows up and openly admits that he’s a time traveller (in my opinion, that’s pretty out of character too) and also admitting that he befriended DreamXD.

I think Karl serves in this situation as George’s subconscious trying to stop from acting on his unhinged, impulsive tendencies. Then George kills Karl (ignoring his subconscious) and apparently dropping so many dragon heads which reminded me of DreamXD. So I started yelling, “DREAMXD, COME GET YOUR MAAAAAAAAN-”

He proceeds to kill Callahan. That's fucked up and undeserved. #FreeCallahan.

Since he killed Dream, there's "no rules". And guess what the motherfucker did? Find the Stronghold.

He even manipulated Callahan into helping him find it. Again, fucked up and undeserved. 

And finally DreamXD shows up as soon as George explores the Stronghold. If y’all know me well, you would know I’m a simp for god. 

I dunno if this is a character detail or Dream simply forgetting, but XD sounds completely different from person to person. Maybe he’s stronger in the Stronghold and by extension, The End, he’s more powerful and sounds different. I’m just spitballing here.

The fight between XD and George was kinda badass. It was incredibly exciting, I loved it.

George killed DreamXD. Yep, you heard me. Mans killed god. And became god. GeorgeeHD canon maybe?

When DreamXD was killed, I just sat there in legitimate shock. Like, what the fuck just happened? What the fuck did I just witnessed?

Then George jumps into the portal and into The End. At this point, I’m numb to what I’ve witnessed. I was loosing it.

He was casually killing the dragon. Just vibing. Completely vibing.

As soon as he was about to kill the dragon, everything went dark. George wakes up.

AND IT WAS ALL A FUCKING DREAM HAHAHAHAHAHA- So TL;DR: only losers have dreams of god-like fantasies.   (I’ll also be tagging characters mentioned)

Dream SMP: Using Minecraft as a Vessel for a Storyline

With viewers worldwide, members of a popular Minecraft server known as the Dream SMP have drawn in viewers through their original roleplay content, using Minecraft as a vessel to tell a story and have fun with each other outside of the plot line. Over the past couple of months, members have broken some of the highest viewer counts on the live streaming platform Twitch, with long time member TommyInnit having a record high live viewer count of 650,237 and other long-time Dream SMP member, Tubbo, with 332,671.

THE ORIGIN OF THE SMP

The Dream SMP is a private and whitelist survival multiplayer (SMP) server in the game Minecraft created by the content creator known as Dream. The server’s beginning was streamed on Twitch April 24, 2020 and featured members of the group known as the Dream Team composed of content creators Dream, GeorgeNotFound, Sapnap, and BadBoyHalo. At the time the server originated, all members (producing content and not just friends of the cast) were at or less than 1 million subscribers on Youtube. According to Youtube, 1 million is a great milestone: “We’re honored to celebrate them when they reach Creator Award subscriber milestones,'' 1 million being one of those milestones. Its initial rise to popularity, however, began around July and August of 2020, when seventeen-year-old Minecraft livestreamer from the UK, Tommy “TommyInnit”, joined the SMP and began a series of arguments and banter with other members of the SMP. It would also ignite what is known as the Disc Saga: music discs acquired by Tommy that he and Dream would continue to fight about until January of the next year. TommyInnit didn’t just bring bickering, though, he also brought along many more members that would later become some of the most statistically large names of the SMP and the Minecraft community in general: Tubbo and Wilbur Soot. Wilbur Soot, particularly, played a critical role in the growth of the SMP.

BEGINNING OF THE STORYLINE

Originally, nobody had planned on the SMP becoming what it is today: whether that is from a high viewership perspective or how unexpected the creation of a plot line was. As far as plot, it was Wilbur “Soot” Gold that created it. He tells in an Insider interview that “I was invited into the Dream SMP near its inception but I only joined fully when I had an idea for building a country in Minecraft”. In the SMP’s infancy, Soot began creating an “illegal potion shop” that would spin off into a nation of non-American members called L’Manberg. He further tells Insider how he writes for the SMP, saying “I write up a series of plot hooks and points that should tie together, however we improv dialogue and comedy throughout to take us from point to point”. As Soot mentioned, these streams and videos that take place aren’t simply the players getting in-game achievements; the lore functions as would a television show, with some episodes holding more relevant pieces of plot and some just being the in-between pieces to help the plot develop. Another early member, Fundy, mentioned that the server went from “a casual survival game to a whole story-line filled with plots and twists,” and that “role-playing is a key feature of the Dream SMP, some parts are scripted, some parts are improv, and some parts are ‘non-canon’, where it is just counted as a standard Minecraft server”. The unique nature of the Dream SMP makes it viewable for people who may not be as invested in the lore as others. Additionally, moderator of the popular “DREAMSMP UPDATES!” account on Twitter with over 205,000 followers, NotAlex, told Insider “The Dream SMP did something really special--taking an original idea, creating new things that have never been seen on Minecraft and incorporating them with humor and characters that you can become easily attached with”. This statement is backed up by Youtube statistics: little over a year ago Dream had 1 million subscribers and currently has over 21 million Youtube subscribers, boasting over 1.8 billion views on his main channel. The numbers speak for themselves, and this is what people appear to like. In addition, there have been other SMP roleplay servers such as SMPLive or SMPEarth, but none of them have pertained to as large of a demographic as the Dream SMP has.

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE PLOT?

The SMP can be mapped into two different sections: Before Tommy, which was non lore-based streaming, and After Tommy, where he started an initial piece of lore and his friend Wilbur Soot created a storyline that would play off of that. The depths of the SMP can be broken down into many different smaller sections with different character analysis and connecting different plot points to each other, however here are is the most basic ideas of the plot:

1.Disc Saga: Tommy obtains music discs that become his prized possessions. Dream picks on Tommy and tries to steal them so he can have power over him. Tommy recruits his friend Tubbo to help him retrieve them. Ultimately, the Disc Saga ends January 2021 after Tommy and Tubbo retrieve them and send Dream to prison.

2. L’Manberg War: TommyInnit and Wilbur Soot create a new country entitled L’Manberg in hopes to create something “better” than the world of the basic Dream SMP. Upset with this, Dream declares war on the few members of L’Manberg against his own forces. L’Manberg seems to be winning and their ally, Eret, brings them to a final control room where it seems as if they were to get powerful gear to fight against Dream. However, Eret instead reveals to be a traitor and all members of L’Manberg lose one of their three lives. Here, the infamous phrase of the SMP is coined by Eret: “It was never meant to be'' and L’Manberg is blown up for the first time. It is also here where Dream and Tommy have a duel to decide the fate of L’Manberg’s independence. Dream wins, however Tommy gives his discs to Dream in order to give L’Manberg independence.

3. L’Manberg Election and Electoral Fallout: Wilbur Soot and Tommy run as President and Vice President of L’Manberg under the name POG2020 in order to show their citizens that it functions like a democracy. They have two main opposing sides: SWAG 2020, Quackity and GeorgeNotFound, and SCHLATT 2020, JSchlatt, who pool their votes together. The creators of L’Manberg, POG 2020, won the majority of votes, but because SWAG and SCHLATT pooled their votes, SWAG/SCHLATT 2020 won the election. As the new president of L’Manberg, Schlatt revokes the citizenship of Wilbur Soot and Tommy and they are forced into exile where they begin to work with long time Minecraft player Technoblade in an underground commune known as “Pogtopia''.

4. Manberg/Pogtopia War: Schlatt renames L’Manberg to “Manberg'' and it begins to function similarly to a dictatorship. Wilbur is driven to insanity as he cannot stand his beloved country falling into the hands of someone else. Throughout this time period, many members of Manberg escape to join forces with Pogtopia. In a final Pogtopia conflict, the forces of Manberg and Pogtopia clash and Pogtopia takes the victory. They reclaim the land and Tubbo becomes the President. Everything seems to be going fine, however, Wilbur leaves the celebration and enters a small secret room that is presumably connected to 736 pieces of TNT under L’Manberg. Just as Wilbur is about to turn his back on his allies, his father finds him and asks “what are you doing”. Wilbur explains “the thing that I built this nation for doesn’t exist anymore... it’s over”. He repeats the infamous saying that happened before L’Manberg was blown up once before and reveals himself to be the traitor of his own nation: “It was never meant to be”. Destruction occurs and Wilbur forces his father to kill him. This is Wilbur’s last death.

5. Exile Conflict: After the war, citizens begin repairing the damages of the nation. Meanwhile, Tommy and, at the time, new member Ranboo set GeorgeNotFound’s house to flames. Tommy takes the fall for this as Dream pressures for Tubbo to exile Tommy, his best friend, as punishment. Ultimately it is decided that Tommy will be exiled, alone. Dream visits Tommy a lot during exile to manipulate him into thinking they were friends. Later, Dream blows up Tommy's exile home and Tommy runs away to live with Technoblade and tries to restore the allyship they once had. They stick together until Tommy and Tubbo forgive each other and Tommy leaves Techno. Tubbo accepts Tommy back into L’Manberg and at this point, Dream has both of Tommy’s prized discs.

6. End of the Disc Saga: Dream leaves Tommy a compass and tells him that only he and Tubbo are allowed to meet him where the compass leads, otherwise the discs will be gone forever. They meet up and Dream brings them to his lair where he shows his plans to collect prized possessions from every member of the SMP so he has control over them. Dream threatens that Tommy can choose between the discs or Tubbo’s last canon life. Tubbo tells Tommy to choose the discs as he says that Dream “described me as a pawn, and this is checkmate”. However, Punz, a merchant that Tommy paid in hopes to make amends, arrived with the rest of the SMP to Dream’s lair. They all discover the truth about how Dream wants to have blackmail on them all. Tommy takes 2 of Dream’s canon lives, all of his belongings, and sends him to an inescapable prison. Tommy secures the discs and the disc saga ends as Tommy and Tubbo listen to the discs at their favorite location.

7. Prison Arc*: Tommy has visited Dream in prison several times, but went to say goodbye to Dream for the last time before starting a new chapter in his life. However, while Tommy is inside, TNT goes off somewhere around the prison and it is forced into lockdown. Based on a contract Tommy signed, he had to stay in the prison until the guard figures out what happened. While they were trapped, Dream taunts him in a playful manner, but Tommy is still shaken about it as the prison reminds him of several traumatic moments that happened in his past (the L’Manberg final control room and exile). Tommy is told of a resurrection book that Dream supposedly has. Tommy is skeptical and lashes out on Dream questioning him on why Tommy should believe. Dream beats Tommy’s body and Tommy dies. His closest colleagues are told of his death and many blame themselves. Days later, Tommy is resurrected from Dream in the prison, however, nobody knows that he got resurrected. Dream and Tommy discover that 1 day on the SMP is 1 month in the afterlife, meaning Wilbur has been in the afterlife for 9 years also meaning that Wilbur is the most informed person on the SMP. Dream plots to bring Wilbur back to life as he thinks that he will get Wilbur to break him out of prison.

8. Blood Vines*: Mysterious red vines have covered the SMP and emerge from what they call the “Egg”. Member known as BadBoyHalo becomes closest with the vines as he can hear them talking to him. He tells many people that “the egg demands blood” and tries to get members to join the Egg’s side, yet many refuse.

WHERE IT IS HEADED

It doesn’t seem like any of the fans are going anywhere, especially considering SMP members continuously reach the top spots on Youtube’s trending page. The Minecraft community in general has begun to flourish during the COVID-19 quarantine, as it has brought back older players that need something to do while stuck inside as well as the new generation of kids consuming this type of entertainment. It is safe to say that the Dream SMP storyline will continue to captivate viewers through its original use of Minecraft at least until the plot ultimately ends. Does college means something different to the rest of the world? In the us it’s almost interchangeable with uni except universities can give you a doctorate while college can only get you your undergrad. It’s less that spanish is required and more that we’re required to take two years of a language and I just chose spanish. I’ve met so many people who either only speak spanish or have spanish as their first language that knowing the amount that I do has actually come in handy. Dont think about the like thing too much trust me. It’s a really good comma and indicator that you’re speaking casually but the more you notice it the more upsetting it becomes

I think the beets could be a great plot point because beets suck and I hate them!! I really do like silly lore but I hate the effect it has on the fandom. I haven’t forgiven people for writing off the l’sandburg lore. In the words of the wisest man I ever knew “everything I do on the dream smp is canon to some extent”.
