Is there any significance to Byleth being able to remember Sothis's memories (Rhea defeating Nemesis)? Were the writers trying to tease Rhea's theory that they really were an amnesiatic Sothis? I know game-developing-wise it was just so that they could have a cool cutscene and provide a bit of actual lore in a rare moment of clarity by the developers, but the implications...

And now I'm just realizing that for this to be one of Sothis's memories she would have to be conscious throughout the time the sword of the creator had her creststone. She remembers the Red Canyon. Jeez. And it being the only one we actively see, and one that repeats often enough for Byleth to talk to Jeralt about it multiple times, means that one of the most important memories Sothis has was of her daughter saving her from the man who butchered her and her children. Now I'm sad imagining amnesia Sothis trying and failing to understand why she keeps remembering and forgetting that battle.

The explanation is just that Byleth shares some Sothis's memories. They bleed into their mind. We see this with the cutscene flashes and how they can remember Zanado despite never having heard of it in their life. There is also the moment where Byleth collapses and Sothis says that she felt that way before.

And yeah, Sothis would have been aware. We know that Sothis's spirit is omnipresent, and that she is aware of everything that happens in Fodlan after she merges with Byleth (see the convo when she wakes Byleth up).

She would not only have witnessed Zanado, she would have been the weapon used to kill her children. It's no wonder that her daughter saving her from an endless nightmare is the most important memory for her.

In the midst of all the blegh regarding Palestine, I do want to say this. If you think anything from the past century of Western media has any semblance of authentic Arab music, I urge you with the warmest of hearts and deepest of desire to go listen to actual Arab music. Nothing matches it and there’s so much variation.

Even in relation to the kinds of music present in Lebanon or Jordan or Palestine. Listen to Shamstep music, 47SOUL. Listen to Arab hiphop, DAM. Listen to Arab fucking Reggae, Autostrad. Listen to folk music, wedding music, dabke music. Please please please expand your pallet beyond the same duduk infested, arab bazaar, Shamar (Day) ass Orientalist slop.
