i don't resent my dad for leaving UNTIL I HAVE TO PUT UP SHELVES and then there is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men for this treachery (he took all the tools too)
dadless behavior isn't being promiscuous it's being covered in scratches and chalk and drywall dust and flakes of the beautiful new paint you just put on your wall and then skulking off to bed in defeat

Hey-!
Smacking and lifting Sierra higher do NOT make for a happy Cliffjumper, buddy. He clamps down on the instinct to bring out his cannons and demand to be given his kid, but only by the thinnest margin of willpower.
Even his furious battle protocols stall out, however, when Cliff registers the big guy's follow-up.
Other side, soldier
Slowly, his optics shift from where Sierra is mostly hidden by a bundle of cloth, to the in hindsight kind of obvious Decepticon brand in the middle of their rescuer's chest.
Not too long ago, wanting to further expand his repertoire of human references, Cliffjumper watched a fairly famous movie trilogy with plenty of good quips and dramatic sound bytes. One line in particular from the second film hits his main processing thread, the only thing Cliff can think of to describe this clusterfrag of a situation:
There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of men, for this treachery.
Maybe not a perfect match, but it certainly fits with how Cliff feels like the floor just got yanked out from under his feet.
"Yes," Cliffjumper snaps, skidding across the sand as he comes to a stop. He did what the stupid-big aquatic mech suggested ordered and he's free and clear of most if not all the saltwater, thank you very not much- "Now will you please hand over my kid?"
Most folks don't get a 'please', but Cliff's feeling marginally generous after the dual rescue. That does not stop him, however, from already reaching up towards the big guy's hands, more than willing to just go ahead and scoop Sierra back into his own grasp, set her up with his own heating system, and get the frag away this lousy beach.
Next time the girl wants to go swimming, he's going to lobby hard for a big plastic pool set up inside their base.

LORD OF THE RINGS  ASK MEME  ╱╱ part one.
“That there’s some good in this world… and it’s worth fighting for.”
“Even the smallest person can change the course of the future.”
“Oh, it’s quite simple. If you are a friend, you speak the password, and the doors will open.”
“There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men for this treachery.”
“I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the Ages of this world alone.”
“The burned hand teaches best. After that advice about fire goes to the heart.”
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succor of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till.”
“Do not scorn pity that is the gift of a gentle heart.”
“A day may come when the courage of men fails… but it is not this day.”
“Your time will come. You will face the same Evil, and you will defeat it.”
“The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great battle of our time.”
“Don’t adventures ever have an end? I suppose not. Someone else always has to carry on the story.”
“But he knows. Eyes always watching.”
“You are the luckiest, the canniest, and the most reckless man I ever knew. Bless you, laddie.”
“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”
“I’m glad to be with you…here at the end of all things.”
“A hunted man sometimes wearies of distrust and longs for friendship.”
“It’s the job that’s never started as takes longest to finish.”
“Deeds will not be less valiant because they are unpraised.”
“He that breaks a thing to find out what it is, has left the path of wisdom.”
“Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.”
“Pay heed to the tales of old wives. It may well be that they alone keep in memory what it was once needful for the wise to know.”
“I want to be a healer, and love all things that grow and are not barren.”
“Torment in the dark was the danger that I feared, and it did not hold me back.”
“It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

Two Towers Quotes as applied to teaching
When you’re having one of Those Days: in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come.
@ Literally any cafeteria lunch plate: What we need is a few good taters.
Re: the class during state testing: Look at them. They’re frightened. You can see it in their eyes.
When you find gum under a desk: There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of men for this treachery.
When a kindergartener tries to explain something they know nothing about to me: That doesn't make sense to me. But, then again, you are very small.
When I trip and fall in front of the class: That was deliberate, it was deliberate.
When the first bell rings: So it begins.
When there’s a disagreement between two students: And whose side are you on? Side? I am on nobody's side, because nobody is on my side.
@ parents who demand I change their kid’s grades despite them doing no makeup work: You have no authority here! Your orders mean nothing!
When students try to bribe me with future goods or services: There is no promise you can make that I can trust.

Alright, I’m going to go through my thought process since my reaction ranges from unorthodox to controversial depending on who you ask. Perhaps it’s a consequence of a slow liveblog pace where I get to overanalyze everything, but I pretty much expected the suicide about halfway through the morning intervention, upgraded to “shit, this is happening almost immediately isn’t it?” by the evening meltdown. The dramatic buildup was great, too. The sense of impending doom hovered over the whole session. The emotional groin kicks, too–“she’s the kindest little thing”, “this wasn’t inevitable, with a little more care”, etc. I walked into that house filled with dread, sadness, mourning. It’s not the initial jumpscare element that broke the mood. That was… perhaps not how I would have handled it, but fine. The immediate glitchy mess took me out of the scene, made any sort of somber mood evaporate. Imagine crashing a funeral with party streamers and a kazoo, if you will. I was diverted hard into “what the hell is all this nonsense about?” and the longer I stayed in that musical hellscape, even through the blackout screens, the worse it got. "Sayo-Nara" indeed. I felt like I was being taunted by the game over something that I (maybe not my character) had been taking extremely seriously for some time. So when Wy's internal monologue about resets and video games dragged Monika into things, when I noticed that she was the one doing the taunting all along? You bet I was furious. It looks like the game reset itself to the start screen in a pseudo-buggy state, deleting my initial save file in the process and wallpapering Sayori out of the title screen with a mixture of Natsuki and (mostly) Monika. We'll see exactly what that means, but if this is something of a reset then I've learned a couple of things. First, I'm staying away from Yuri even if it means enduring Chihuahua noises. And second, there is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men for Monika's treachery and I will be looking for any opportunity to make that painfully apparent to her. Should be interesting.

MIDDLE EARTH 30 DAY Challenge Day 27 Isengard or Mordor?
This is a fun question.
Isengard quickly becomes associated with Saruman, mining, the orcs, the Urk-hai and various other dangerous creatures so that it's really easy to forget that it wasn't always like that. In fact, as we learn from Treebeard, the Ents were actually strong allies with Saruman, who used to tend to their lands. As a reminder, Isengard was once quite lush, beautiful and green:
Tumblr media
I admit that I honestly forgot how utterly beautiful Isengard was at the beginning of these movies because it is turned into such a desolate place after Saruman's fall. It's after Saruman turns to an alliance with Sauron that the land loses its luster. Saruman orders the trees cut down, the ground dug up, the earth scorched with fire. The river is damned and only rock, dirt, mud and fire dictate the landscape.
Tumblr media
The Ents, who once had a strong alliance with wizard as he used to care for their forests and trees, turn against their former friend due to the harsh treatment of their kind and the land. Treebeard's quote is among my favorites:
Tumblr media
Treebeard: Many of these trees were my friends. Creatures I had known from nut and acorn. Pippin: I'm sorry, Treebeard. Treebeard: They had voices of their own... Saruman... A wizard should know better! [He gives a loud yell which echoes across the landscape] Treebeard: There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of men for this treachery! [More Ents emerge from the woods, following Treebeard] Pippin: Look, the trees! They're moving! Merry: Where are they going? Treebeard: They have business with the Orcs. My business is with Isengard tonight, with rock and stone! [More Ents emerge from the woods, joining Treebeard] Treebeard: Come, my friends. The Ents are going to war. It is likely that we go to our doom. The last march of the Ents.
However, I feel like I still have to give the edge to Mordor, if only because Mordor drips with the atmosphere of corruption. It's referred to, several times, as the land of the Black Speech, the land of Shadow. Sauron chose the volcanic plains of Mordor because of the strategic position: they are surrounded on three sides by nearly impenetrable mountains and the large flat plains are inhospitable to invaders.
Tumblr media
The whole existence of Mordor is designed to be unapproachable, dark and unwelcoming. That gives a great atmosphere to a fortress of a villain and Mordor has served not only Sauron but Morgoth himself, with it being speculated that he was the cause of the great volcanic activity that purged the whole of Mordor, save a small corner, of being able to produce life, be it vegetation or civilization.
Tumblr media
From a story telling standpoint, there is a lot of possibilities with Mordor because there's a lot we don't understand or know about it. We know some of the history, we know it's the Land of Shadows and has been essentially created to house evil and corruption. We know that from a strategic standpoint, it's extremely difficult to conquer. Sam and Frodo give us a some idea of that just on their journey to Mount Doom.
Tumblr media
So, I'd say Mordor is more interesting simply because I see so many possibilities with it. Plus, I must wonder...what is South of Mordor?

Hobbiton: There is no curse in Elvish, Entish, or the tongues of Men for this TREACHERY! On the YouTube channel, BlackCriticGuy, there is a certain YouTuber who has begun trolling, bullying, harassing, and essentially doing everything in his power to make himself the new Tammy Newborn(an infamous YouTube troll who is notorious for his cyberbullying). That troll, ladies and gents here before you, is Zac Ritner. He is determined, persistent, and will not hesitate to push your buttons.
Do not feed the trolls, people. We don’t want a repeat of last time.
