Don’t be sorry at all I’m doing a little jig of joy about someone finally actually understanding the point of the musical and having being the same takes as me.
Yes!!!! They are all morally grey and that’s the point! No, Evans actions were not excused he lost all of his few friends, has an even more strained relationship with his mother than ever, and his mental health is worse than before the musical. He’s not supposed to be completely hated. But the show never try’s to make you view Evan as being an entirely good person, it just try’s to make you view him as complicated! With good and bad in him! (I will say the marketing Isn’t good at portraying this but the musicals intention is clear)
Conner is autistic is the realest take and you’re so right about it. I could rant about that forever. I think most of the cast are at least neurodivergent coded. I kind of wished it was addressed actually in the show but whatever
ZOE!!!!! I love her so much. I think she’s extremely realistic for a 16 year old in a broken household. She is doing her best but sometimes that’s not enough but that’s ok because she’s flawed! Like everyone else!
Not liking Jared is so real because I also don’t love him as a character. I know he’s kind of a fan fave but honestly he felt more unnecessarily mean than everyone else. The way he treated Evan was actually fucked and we never get an explanation for why he’s so mean. I assume that he’s probably just emotionaly repressed and seeking connection the only way he knows how but god damn man. And then he actively participated in and encouraged Evan to continue with his lie and yea… Jared’s kind of growing on me but he still makes me so mad. Also all of his gratuitous gay jokes got very annoying to me. I just don’t think he was well thought out (comedy relief usually aren’t)
And Heidi! People act like she was an innocent angel who did nothing wrong. But unintentionally or not, she was very absent and while she was doing her best I don’t blame Evan at all for seeking comfort, financial support, and parental guidance from other adults. And I don’t think it was fair for her to be upset with him over that. She’s trying though and I adore her.
I’m going to cut myself off now or I’ll be writing reactions to all your absolutely correct takes all night. Thank you so much for writing this it makes me so happy to see people seeing the show for what it is

i keep having embarrassingly deeper-than-they-should feelings about caboose that im not sure what to do about, with how i feel like i relate in a pretty genuine and sweet way to him in an autistic level and i do feel like reading him that way makes real sense but im just incapable of feeling very good about it when its very very clear caboose's neurodivergent esque behavior is applied exclusively to make the butt of the joke off how stupid he is. i care about him a lot as a character but i mostly just wanna rip him off r-slur-loving rooster teeth's hands and handle him with a minimum level of respect
#i dunno i feel about bad about it like if i even acknowledge my reading of him it comes off badly when once again hes the dumb one#going off topic onto a tangent i think i just yearn for a fictional representation of autism that isnt just easy and palatable#like there are lots and lots of autistic and autistic coded and autistic read/head cannoned characters out there#but it feels like its always just. nice character whos very nerdy about a subject or is kinda weird or awkward at times#its always just this ''high functional'' kind of autism where the proof theyre autistic are a few traits here and there#there just arent characters who stutter and mumble and get lost with words and sound weird and have weird voices#and say genuinely weird things in genuinely inappropriate times. who genuinely come off as weird or dumb or childish#who struggle with simple things or dont get concepts or instructions or things said at them#autism that isnt quirky or always fun or always endearing or easy to deal with or easy to dismiss#i cant think of a single character in media who i relate with in an autistic level in how my autism actually feels beyond the superficial#and i think thats why i get a genuine comfort in caboose of all things#in how unapologetically and undeniably weird and kinda dumb and kinda childish he comes off#and it isnt always nice and it annoys and troubles the people around him and of course himself beyond a way he can control#i get touched by the moments here and there when people actually treat him well#when tucker takes some time to gently explain to him that church isnt coming back.#and when hes given a sincerely emotional moment to say goodbye to church and well as that one episode of season 14#or generally when characters are nice to him or talk in ways he can understand better#i dunno i just really do like him#which i guess just backfires when it feels specially hurtful when hes called dumb and stupid and is hated and threatened#and condescend upon and treated as useless and incompetent and just a burden the others need to take care of#mannnnn i hate rooster teeth#🧃

a really long analysis about fanon Marina and the flanderization by fandom she has gotten
fanon marina (the version created by the fans) mainly focuses on two things, her being autistic coded and her being basically confirmed to be a lesbian. And I do think this has to do with her being VERY much like a typical splatoon fan in many people’s eyes. Her being a nerdy queer neurodivergent person. This is also why other parts, especially her relationship with her being an octoling gets often locked away. Subconsciously at least
if Marina was a book, several chapters would focus on her identity as a dome octoling. Her being autistic would probably pop up here and there, but it wouldn’t be a whole chapter. But her very much gay relationship with Pearl would definitely have a few chapters. But with people focusing on those few lines and chapters rather than the whole book. People would slowly ignore the other chapters, get shocked like Adam Sandler learning Pac-Man was the bad guy in the hit movie pixels.
the splatoon fandom’s western side is mainly white Americans and Europeans. Which is one reason why the fanon Marina doesn’t focus on her identity as an octoling, but also on how many details are not really told to the player. Marina barely shows her ears, which can both be read as her having sensory issues (which is a super valid headcanon(, but also her not feeling super comfortable with her body. With her ears being a reminder of her “you are with people who still think you are only going to steal stuff”. Her tentacles may be weird, she may lack the eyeliner an inkling has. But those things can simply be a stylistic choice. Her ears can’t be one. They are too different. I also know the DLCS focuses more on her identity as a dome octoling. However many can understand how her arc as a whole can be paralleled to the real life experiences of people belonging to marginalized ethnic communities. I also want to point, while writing this. I realized (which many people probably already did). Dome octolings you see outside of the domes (splatoon 2 octolings, Marina, Acht, Paul), are all refugees. They are all characters who grew up in a society that had been shunned for decades, even centuries. That society ended up being oppressive both due to external and internal issues. They know the society they’re living in is no longer a good place to live in. So they escape. Hoping to find a place that will take them on. For agent 8, Marina, and Paul. They found a safe place. Acht wasn’t super lucky however. They were told they could find a “promised land” only to be left in even more ruin before. So not only does Marina’s character arc focus on her being a part of an ethnic minority, but a refugee at that. so why does fanon marina usually avoid that part of her? Well as a mentioned before. Marina has three things that makes her very relatable. While the more backstory focused things are less relatable to a way smaller margin of the splatoon fandom. A way smaller part of the fandom are poc in a very white country. And a very small percentage are refugees.
if we removed Marina’s backstory. We would still be left with the fanon version. A nerdy autistic lesbian who deeply loves Pearl. I love how Nintendo got a game that also isn’t afraid to show a society that cares about queer people if not is queer centric itself. Which is probably why many people cling to that part of Marina. But if we removed that part. What would we be left with? Well, we would have an octoling refugee who is a trained soldier and can create weapons of destructions (and she would still be in love with Pearl, it is an important part of her backstory). im not saying the splatoon fandom’s openness to lgbtq and neurodivergent people is a bad thing just because they boil down one of the most plot heavy characters down to those things. It is actually a really great thing to have a fandom that is open to these marginalized groups.
i just want to say, due to this love for Marina being a character you can relate to. It feels like certain parts of Marina’s character (which can also be very relatable to some) is being drifted away to the more lore centric side of the fandom. Which will lead to a sort of fandom flandarization which is very unintentional and just done due to a love of Marina as a character.
If you’ve read this an disagreed, that is fine. Character writing is a very subjective thing

the problem with natlan / sumeru
warning: long post
──────────────────
to preface this i’d like to say that i’m in no ways an expert in the topics present, i’m just an autistic dumbass with too much time on his hands who enjoys a bit of research — i’m in no way, shape or form trying to belittle players who are excited for the update, by all means i hope you enjoy it, i’m just trying to give criticism.
you can enjoy/play a game while criticising it simultaneously.
when it comes to the topic of racial diversity and a company like hoyoverse that’s based in china, there’s quite a lot of political baggage that comes along with it. while i’ll try my best to go over that, i’m afraid i can only give a very limited eastern european perspective on it and i’ll certainly get things wrong or misinterpret things — if you’d like a more thorough view on the politics, please go read the post made by @zeichannnnn (hope you don’t mind the tag my love)
firstly, i’ll be going over general misconceptions, ridiculous excuses and or stereotypes that i’ve seen commonly come up in this conversation.
any and all screenshots will have usernames cut off for privacy, i want to maintain a civilised discussion and not cause argument.
a lot of my critiques are more so towards the attitude the fandom has when it comes to this argument and their blatant colourism. as my friend above says, no one ever complained about characters in liyue/inazuma being paper white despite the fact realistically, no one in EA is that colour naturally. this of course stems from the beauty standards but that’s a discussion for later on.
the point is that if say a nation like liyue, had the same skin colour as a character like xinyan (who hails from liyue and has a liyue name) people would undoubtedly be upset. so why is it that when in terms of nations that are based off countries with a darker skin colour variety, complaining about the characters being white is seen as a problem?
culture isn’t defined by racial diversity, but when you’re monetising off the representation of different countries cultures, the very least you can do is show the actual diversity within said culture instead of slapping a cultural name on a white model (cue that one picture of the egyptian dude who looks like a plain american).
the idea that because it’s fantasy or anime, having black characters is surreal or improbable is rooted in white supremacy’s hold over unfair beauty standards as well as just the general consensus that black people are less desirable in media. which is completely false.
characters like dehya have proven that a character’s race is irrelevant when it comes to likeness, given the fact the chinese community ended up donating to charities because of said characters story.
the reason why the lightly toasted characters appear tan to you is because the rest of the cast is so horrifically pale (nahida’s hex code is #FFF7F1, cyno’s is #EEC6A6 which when placed next to each other may look like a big difference, but in reality the colours are on the same side of the colour wheel only a few spaces apart).
hoyoverse does in fact use culture as a mere aesthetic and costume to plant on white models. that is NOT to say they misrepresent culture entirely: this post goes over how hoyoverse is perfectly capable of doing impressive research to bring forth forgotten or unknown bits of culture.
even aside from the problems with racial diversity, the character design department has been known to completely fail when it comes to accurate representation. from the sexualisation of the kimono in characters like raiden shogun (which even the eastern part of the fandom have been upset about) to the character of yunjin where the chinese player based believed she was more like a lolita inspired caricature than a real depiction. they don’t understand how to mingle tradition with modernism.
in all fairness, it is difficult — and i will praise the game for making natlan much more technologically advanced and vibrant than people were expecting because having the one nation that’s based off africa and indigenous people be a wasteland would’ve ultimately been a problem. personally, i even love the slight mashup of “tribes” and the pokémon esque aesthetic — its new, and a smart way to bring two things together.
same thing cannot be said for how hyv ignores the fact darker people of colour are also significant when it comes to the building of culture.
please read over these that go more into depth about problems:
natlan being an amalgamation of three separate countries/cultures.
misrepresenting both continents natlan’s based from
another thing that’s always bothered me is the excuses people used in sumeru about the presentation of characters that were based off real people; specifically, kusanali.
yes, she’s based off a hindu moon goddess who’s described as pale and sure that could’ve been the reason she’s nearly the colour white — but how come candace, who’s based off kandake, a fully black woman, is presented as being slightly tan? you can’t pick and choose what you represent and honestly the idea that nahida’s character is supposed to be a depiction of the moon goddess is disrespect to the goddess herself (please go look at a singular picture of her and you’ll understand the utter tragedy).
hoyoverse also has a bit of a history with both whitewashing their slightly tan characters (nekomiya from zoneless zen zero, arlan from honkai star rail etc) but i think one of their biggest proofs of disrespect comes to carole pepper from hi3.
now, this is not at all me saying you can’t present female characters as very muscular — no. in fact, i would’ve loved if characters like beidou had a similar sort of build. but out of all the characters you could’ve chosen to give this to, you chose a black woman.
would this be a problem if it continued with other characters? not really. the issue lies within the fact the ONLY mother in game who’s presented as buff and “masculine looking” is a black woman — something that’s quite literally a stereotype against black women who are regarded as “naturally less feminine” than white women.
eastern beauty standards
the assertion that eastern beauty standards prevent the inclusion of black characters in video games is not only invalid but also reflects deeper issues of bias and systemic exclusion in the gaming industry. this argument is flawed for several reasons, including the diversity of beauty standards in eastern cultures, the global nature of the gaming market, and the responsibility of creators to reflect and promote inclusivity.
to claim that eastern beauty standards universally exclude black characters oversimplifies and homogenizes the diverse beauty ideals present in countries like japan, south korea, and china. these cultures are not monolithic and have their own histories and contemporary movements that embrace a variety of appearances.
creators in the gaming industry have a responsibility to reflect the diversity of the real world and promote inclusivity. video games are a powerful medium that can shape perceptions, challenge stereotypes, and foster empathy. by including black characters, game developers can contribute to a more inclusive and equitable society. this requires intentionality and a commitment to representation that goes beyond mere tokenism. the argument that eastern beauty standards prevent such inclusion suggests a lack of willingness to challenge existing norms and expand the narrative possibilities within games. hoyoverse have themselves stated in their mission statement that their goal is to show inclusivity.
that’s not to say it’s not clear that china’s beauty standards have unfortunately affected the gaming market: but for a game that brandishes itself on localising itself for a global audience (meaning, outside of its region), it’s a poor excuse. those standards aren’t universal and shouldn’t be used as gateway into designing.
once again, i am NOT at all very well versed in politics especially one that’s overseas (well, next door neighbour in a way) so i definitely will misinterpret or misunderstand things unintentionally and if i do, i’m really sorry.
historical nihilism to me doesn’t relate to black people, just actual story events (hence why hoyoverse had to put a warning label for fontaine that the events presented didn’t represent that of the real world and any similarities were mere coincidence). black people existing isn’t regarded as “politically harmful” neither is it an extraordinary idea — it’s just another group of people.
although, the CCP has a MASSIVE history about their demonisation and hatred of black people therefore, even without the idea that the censorship stems from something like historical nihilism, it’s likely something to do with individual prejudice.
politically, i can semi-understand why hoyoverse is in a tight space for racial diversity. but that doesn’t mean i’m willing to baby a company that profits billions worth of profit from other cultures that they misrepresent and i’m even less inclined to hold the hands of hoyoverse dickriders who believe people complain about race just solely to whine. it’s a real systemic issue, and one that’s prevalent in a multitude of games aside from genshin.
people from the cultures presented are rightfully upset and they shouldn’t be told to just “accept”mediocrity. it’s their culture and identities being ridiculed, it’s their identities being profited from for the sake of aesthetics for a game that preaches inclusivity to the people that are willing to ignore its prejudice.
hell, even as a polish person, just thinking about what they’ll do with snezhnaya upsets me even if it’s not racially based — once again, the media emphasises the idea that eastern europe / slavic culture is purely russia meanwhile they steal little things from all of the surrounding countries in eastern europe (won’t forget the fact they changed that password thing in sumeru from “ravioli” to “pierogi”).
──────────────────
TL;DR hoyoverse uses other people’s cultures and identities as an aesthetic and proceeds to profit off of it while misrepresenting the sample of people they chose to depict and while a political argument can be made in this regard, ultimately the backlash from people rightfully feeling unjustified in the lack of racial diversity is what amplifies these colourist attitudes: and while hoyoverse has seemingly much more legal repercussions to commit to their idea of diversity, the fandom has no excuse for their disregard of different identities.
also just a funny thing my friend and i did to show just how white these characters are lol
“ blackwashing “ versus “ whitewashing “
i feel like i need to add this little section too because i know there will be a lot of people that draw or reimagine the characters in a variety of different skin tones, and i know a lot of people will be upset (usually it’s just the lowlife weebs who cry at the thought of a black woman being in the same room as them).
historically, media, including video games and anime, have predominantly featured pale-skinned characters, often neglecting the representation of people of color. this lack of diversity reinforces a narrow view of beauty and heroism, contributing to the systemic exclusion of non-white individuals. blackwashing helps to rectify these historical imbalances by providing a broader spectrum of racial representation. it challenges the default assumption that characters must be pale-skinned and introduces audiences to a more inclusive range of appearances.
representation matters profoundly in media. seeing characters that reflect one's own identity can have significant positive effects on self-esteem and cultural pride. blackwashing creates opportunities for black audiences to see themselves in roles and narratives traditionally dominated by pale-skinned characters.
critics (once again, youtube creators and tiktok lmao) of blackwashing often argue that it disrespects original character designs or cultural contexts. however, the impact of changing a character's skin tone is minimal compared to the harm caused by whitewashing. whitewashing often erases the cultural significance of non-white characters, perpetuating stereotypes and denying the rich diversity of the source material. blackwashing, in contrast, does not erase cultural identities but rather enhances the inclusivity of the media. it provides a more diverse and representative depiction without detracting from the character's original essence or storyline.
in addition, usually when a character is black in fantasy media or even just an anime/game with a lore based story, it’s because their race is significant to who they are (i.e tiana from princess and the frog who faces racial discrimination — without her being a person of colour, this storyline and the events that follow wouldn’t make sense).
──────────────────
i’m sorry for such a long and probably nonsensical rant, but this has bothered me into absolute oblivion especially the community’s response to the uproar of people who rightfully critique and are upset by the company.

Unspoken Words pt 2
Master List
Characters: Jensen Ackles x Reader, Reader’s daughter, other characters
Warnings: Fluffy goodness, and Jensen being such a sweetheart.
A/N: Another collab story with @cheekygirl2309. This one is about a single mother with a nonverbal autistic daughter who loves Supernatural. The reader is going to a Supernatural Convention with her daughter and things unfold from there. The daughter character is near and dear to my heart. I have someone very close to me who is nonverbal, but he’s such an amazing kid.
This is a work of fiction and does not depict real life. Jensen is single in this story.
All work is my own and @cheekygirl2309, don’t take it or use it as your own. Reblogs and likes are appreciated.
Minors DNI 18+
Lily woke up not long after the text exchange. She seemed more relaxed. Lily began looking around when she woke up. I noticed she started to get upset.
“Lily, what’s wrong baby?” She grunted. “Dean, Jensen.” She said with sadness. “Oh baby, he said he’d be back, he had to go, but he’ll be back soon.”
“Go?” She asked, her eyes wide. “Yes baby, he had to go meet other people.” She crossed her arms and pouted. Sarah and I chuckled.
A few minutes later Jensen returned with our photos in hand. Lily saw him and immediately jumped off the couch and ran to him.
She landed against him with a thud. Knocking the wind out of him. He laughed, “It’s good to see you again too, Lily. You look rested.” He smiled at me and then down at Lily.
“I have the pictures. I wasn’t sure if you wanted me to autograph them or not, but I’d be happy to.” He handed them to me and they were perfect. Well, the one with Lily and Jensen, mine not so much. I always hated having my picture taken.
I sighed a little, but didn’t think Jensen heard. “Everything okay, sweetheart?” “What? Oh yeah. You two look great in these.” Jensen looked over my shoulder, “You look beautiful in that one too.” My cheeks burned red. “You’re just being nice, but thank you.”
Jensen turned me to face him, “No, Y/N. Don’t do that. You’re stunning and anyone would be lucky to be with you.” I bit my lip as he pushed my hair behind my ear.
My heart pounded in my chest. Everyone else in the room disappeared. “Jensen, back!” Lily squealed, breaking our eye contact.
I showed her the pictures and she took the one with her and Jensen and sat down with it. She was giggling.
“So what are you guys doing later, after the convention ends tonight?” “Well, I’ll probably take Sarah home and then take Lily home. She’s going to be overstimulated for sure and I want to make sure she’s okay for tomorrow.”
“Oh okay, I get it.” Jensen sounded and looked a little disappointed. Sarah stepped up to us, “Why? What are you doing tonight, Jensen?” “Sarah! That’s not our business.” I shot back at her.
Jensen chuckled, “It’s only fair, I asked you first. Sarah, I was planning on grabbing something to eat and maybe drink before heading home. I was going to see if y’all wanted to join me, but I completely understand. Lily definitely needs to decompress.” “Well, I don’t have to go home. I can stay with Lily if Y/N wants to go out with you.”
I shot Sarah a look and she smirked, shrugging her shoulders. Jensen smirked at Sarah and then looked over at me, “Well, what do you say? I can pick you up at about 8.”
I looked over at Sarah and then back at him, “Um, sure. If you want to.” Jensen stepped closer, “More than you know.” I nodded and blushed.
The rest of the afternoon went by quickly. Lily was reaching her limit so we decided to leave. I sent Jensen a text to let him know.
Me: Hey. Lily is at her limit. We are heading home. If you change your mind about later I totally understand. Thanks for an amazing day and we will see you tomorrow.
Jensen looked at his phone and smiled.
Jensen: I understand. I haven’t changed my mind about tonight. 8 can’t get here fast enough. I’m looking forward to seeing you tonight.
Me: Me too. Dress code?
Jensen: Something comfortable. I’m taking you to my favorite BBQ place in Austin. 😉
Me: Oh I’m intrigued. I’ll see you later. Have a great afternoon.
Jensen: You too, sweetheart.
My heart fluttered in my chest and I couldn’t stop smiling. Sarah looked at me and chuckled, “Seems like Lily isn’t the only one enamored with Jensen.”
I laughed, “Well it’s your fault, you offered to babysit so he could take me out. What was that about?!”
“Hey, not only am I the best aunt in the world, and the most amazing friend, I’m an incredible wingman too. Besides I saw how he looked at you and you looked at him.”
I smiled, “Yeah. He’s incredible and Lily loves him.”
I drove us back to the house and Lily kept a grip on her picture. I knew I needed to frame it before it got messed up. I just had to figure out how to get it from her long enough to do it.
Once inside the house Lily went to play in her room, her picture went with her of course. I sighed. “I need to get the picture away so I can frame it. Any ideas?” I asked Sarah.
“We can take the frame to her and tell her we need to protect it and have her put it in the frame.” I nodded. The idea was great. I just hoped it would work.
“Hey, Lily baby. I have this frame for your picture. We need to keep it safe so it lasts forever. Want to help me?”
Lily looked at the picture and then the frame. But she didn’t move. I took a deep breath.
“I promise baby you can have it right back.”
She took the frame and I helped her lift the locking tabs. She slid the picture in, but held onto the frame. I put the back on and locked the tabs.
I helped her turn the frame over and she smiled. “Jensen” she said looking at it. I nodded, “Yes baby. Jensen and Lily.”
She pointed to the picture, “Jensen, Lily. Stay”.
The “stay” part confused me. I didn’t respond because I wasn’t sure what to say.
Sarah came into the room, “Okay, girl it’s 6:30. You need to get ready.” I took a shaky breath. I was so nervous.
I was ready by 7:30, but kept checking myself in the mirror. “You look beautiful, Y/N. He’s not gonna know what hit him.” “Thanks, Sarah. I’m so nervous.”
She smiled, took my hand and told me to breathe. “You’ve got this sweetie. Think of him as a regular guy.”
The doorbell rang about 10 till 8. Sarah smiled at me and I nodded for her to answer the door. He stepped in the house and damn was he gorgeous. Dark jeans, a buttoned down shirt, and his boots.
“Wow, look at you, darlin’.” He said as he saw me. I blushed, “You look great, Jensen.” Lily heard his voice and came running in the room. “Jensen” she squealed as she threw her arms around him. “Hey Lily. I got something for you sweetie.” He handed her a bag and she took it to the couch.
“Jensen, you didn’t have to get her anything.” “Of course I did. She’s letting me take her mama on a date.” My eyes went wide. A date? Did he say date? My breath hitched.
She opened the bag and pulled out a stuffed squirrel and moose. I chuckled. She held them both tight. “That was so sweet of you, Jensen.” “It was Clif’s idea. I wanted to bring her something and he said he saw her looking at them.”
“I’ll be sure to thank him when I see him.” He nodded, “Shall we go?” I nodded and gave Lily a hug and kiss goodbye, “You be good for Auntie Sarah, I’ll be back later.”
As Jensen walked towards the door Sarah stopped him, “You take care of our girl or I’ll kick your butt.” He chuckled and I turned red. “Sarah!” Jensen looked at her and smiled, “Yes ma’am. I plan on treating her the way she deserves.” “You better!” She laughed.
I was so embarrassed. Jensen and I walked towards his car. His hand on the small of my back. “I’m sorry about Sarah. She’s always been so protective of me.” “Don’t be sorry. It’s great to have friends that are protective. It means they really care about you.”
He opened the car door and I got in. My heart was pounding in my chest. Jensen climbed in the driver’s seat and looked over at me and smiled, “Ready?” I nodded and smiled.
We headed toward the restaurant and I couldn’t take my eyes off of him. He’d glance over at me and then back at the road. “I really appreciate you taking me out tonight. Sorry Sarah and Lily couldn’t come. I just knew Lily wouldn’t be able to handle going out after being out all day.”
“It’s okay. We’ll have to figure out something next time. I’m sure I can find some sensory friendly places we can take her.”
I turned and looked at him. A smile stretched across my face, “Jensen that’s really sweet of you, but you don’t have to.” “I know, Y/N. I want to. Sorry, but Lily and I are like besties now. You two are stuck with me.” He winked and I laughed.
“Oh besties, huh? Well excuse me. I had no idea.” He laughed, “Yeah, we bonded over her love for Dean, and me of course.” “Oh of course.” We laughed and as he parked he looked over at me and took my hand.
“I love hearing you laugh. I’m sure it’s really hard being a single mom, but Lily is a great kid and you are so great with her.”
“Thank you, Jensen. That means a lot. I love her so much and wouldn’t trade my life for anything.”
“Are you ready to go in?” He nodded towards the restaurant. “Yeah, I’m starving.” He took my hand in his as we walked in. The place was busy, but Jensen led me towards a back room. “This is my buddy’s place. He lets me have this room when I’m here. I called ahead.” I smiled, “Wow, color me impressed, you know the owner and you have a secret room.”
He laughed, “Yeah, it’s great for being alone and hiding bodies if I need to.” “I knew it. That must be why the BBQ is so great here.” Jensen’s head fell back and he laughed loudly. That famous laugh you see him do when he’s really enjoying himself.
“Come on darlin’, let’s sit.” Jensen pulled out my chair and we sat down. The food Jensen ordered for us came and as we ate we talked about any and everything. The night wore on and Jensen talked about Radio Company and how he was excited and the upcoming shows.
He paid the bill, even though I offered to pay for my half. “Now what kind of date would this be if I had you pay? Nope, this is my treat.”
We headed towards the car and before we got in we stood outside for a minute. “Jensen, I had a really great time tonight. Thank you.” He stepped closer, I could smell his cologne and whiskey on his breath. He licked his lips and I licked mine and swallowed hard.
His face inches from mine, our lips ghosting against each other. My heart is beating loudly in my ears. “Can I kiss you?” Jensen asked softly. I nodded, not trusting my voice.
Jensen leaned in and his lips pressed softly against mine. The kiss was soft and gentle. He pulled away and looked in my eyes. His hands slipped behind my neck and into my hair, pulling me close to him and he deepened the kiss.
His tongue licked my lip and I opened my mouth. His tongue found mine and they began dancing and fighting for dominance. I moaned into his mouth which spurred him on. His body pushed mine against the car and he kissed deeper. My hands on his biceps trying to ground myself.
My lungs screamed for air but at that moment Jensen’s lips were giving me all the oxygen I needed. Then the shrill sound of my phone pulled us back to reality.
Jensen let go and I grabbed my phone, panting. “Sarah, is everything okay?” I could hear Lily in the background crying. “Y/N, I am so sorry. I can’t get her to calm down. She’s been crying for over half an hour.” “Did she get hurt? Do you know what set her off?”
“No, she had the stuffies Jensen bought her and her picture. All she said was “Jensen” and started crying.” I looked up at Jensen and he opened the door for me.
He ran to his side and we took off towards the house. “Okay, I’m on my way Sarah.” I hung up and looked at Jensen.
“Is Lily okay?” He asked with concern in his voice. “Yeah I think so. She’s having a meltdown and Sarah can’t get her calmed down. She’s apparently asking for you.”
He smirked, “Sorry.” “No, don’t be. She doesn’t understand you’re not here forever. She’s going to have to get used to the idea that meeting you was just meeting you. You aren’t staying in our lives forever.”
I noticed his body language shift when I said that. “Jensen, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. I just meant you’re a celebrity and we’re not family, so the likelihood of you coming by on weekends and special events are very slim.”
“No I get it, you don’t have to explain anything to me.” My heart broke at his tone. I didn’t mean to upset him.
I reached out and touched his arm, “Jensen, please. I’m sorry.” Tears pricked my eyes and I tried to hold them back, but they fell. I turned and looked out the window. I slid as close to the door as I could.
What the hell did I just do? Everything was going great, and I just screwed it up. Lily deserves better than this. Now he definitely won’t stick around.
“Did you say something sweetheart?” I whipped my head and looked at Jensen. He saw the tears falling. “Hey, shh. Don’t cry. It’s okay. You didn’t screw anything up, and I’m not going anywhere if you don’t want me to.”
I blinked at him, trying to get the tears to stop. “Jensen, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to say that out loud. I just need to protect Lily, and myself.”
He took my hand, “I get it. I want to be in your lives.” I nodded, “I’d like that very much.”
“Good, because after we help Lily I’m picking up where we left off. Damn that kiss was amazing.” I smiled, “Yeah it was. Better than I’d ever imagined.” He laughed.
We pulled up at the house and I leaped out of the car and ran inside. Lily was sitting on the floor crying, holding the stuffies and picture. “Lily baby, mama’s back. It’s okay sweetie. I’m here.”
I tried all our calm down techniques and they didn’t work. Jensen took off his boots and got on the floor beside her and placed his hand on her back, “Lily, I’m here too baby girl.” She looked at him and instantly stopped crying.
I gasped softly. I’d never seen her stop in a meltdown so abruptly. His green eyes flicked up and met mine. I mouthed, “thank you” to him and he nodded.
She grabbed her stuffies and climbed in his lap. I was in awe. He held her for a few minutes then she wiggled out of his arms and went to her room.
“Jensen, that was incredible. I’ve never seen her do that before. Please tell me your secret.” I chuckled a little, but was a little serious too.
“Must be the Dean charm.” He laughed and I playfully hit his arm.
Lily returned with her storybook. She handed it to Jensen. “Do you want me to read this to you, Lily?” “Read,” she said to him.
“Jensen, she’s said more to you today than she has in the past 7 years. I am in shock.
She grabbed his hand and started pulling him towards her bedroom. She climbed in bed and he sat beside her. I sat in the chair in her room and watched them interact. He read her the story, doing different voices for the characters. She’d occasionally giggle and kept one hand on his arm and the other wrapped around her new stuffies from him.
Her eyes started to get heavy as he continued reading the story. By the time he was finished I heard soft snores coming from her mouth. He smiled at her, pulled the blanket up and kissed her head softly.
We tiptoed out of the room and went back to the living room. “Wow, Jensen, that was amazing.” Sarah said from the couch. “Yeah, I’ve never seen her act like that with someone new.”
He blushed a little, “What can I say, I’m great with kids.” I placed a hand on his arm, “Jensen that was more than you being great with kids. You really bonded with her.” Tears filled my eyes again, “Jensen, she’s never spoken as much as she has today. Today was the first time she’d ever called me “mama”. That was huge. I’ve waited so long to hear her call me that. Thank you. For whatever you did to get my little girl to open up more.” The tears fell hard and fast.
He wrapped his arms around me and held me tight. “Shh. It’s okay baby. Thank you for letting me be part of her world and trusting me enough.” I pulled back a little and he wiped the tears away, then he kissed my lips softly.
Sarah smiled, “Well. I’m going to head home. Good night you two, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” She chuckled as she started to leave.
I stepped on the porch with her, “Sarah, thank you for everything today. Are you still coming tomorrow with us?” “Of course I am, and I want details later about that date.” I nodded and smiled, “Just know he kisses better than I thought. Good night.” I smiled and waved.
She squealed in delight as she walked towards her car.
I went back in to find Jensen sitting on the couch. I sat down beside him and he pulled me close to his side. His arm slung around my shoulders and my head rested on his chest.
“Do you think Lily will sleep okay tonight?” Jensen asked almost in a whisper. “Yeah, she should be good the rest of the night. You know I don’t want to keep you. I know you need to get home.” “I’m good if you’re good. I don’t mind. Besides, I’m perfectly happy sitting right here with you.”
“Me too. Just give me a minute. I’m going to change if that’s okay.” He nodded, “I’ll be here waiting.”
He pulled me in for a soft kiss before I got up and I walked to my room. Every part of me screamed to invite him into my room, but the logical part of me told me I should wait. This was too fast, but damn I wouldn’t mind.
I shook the thoughts out of my head and changed into my comfortable pajamas. Just an old band shirt and some sleep pants. I walked back into the living room and found Jensen had removed his button down shirt and hung it on the back of the chair. “I hope you don’t mind, I was being choked by the buttons.” He laughed. “Nope don’t mind at all.” The shirt he was wearing was tight across his chest and showed the perfect definition of his toned body.
“So, where were we, sweetheart?” He asked as he pulled me down beside him. We spent the rest of the night kissing, making out and talking. At some point we both fell asleep.
Around 7am his phone went off with an alarm. We were startled awake. “Oh my goodness, Jensen. We fell asleep.” He laughed, “Well we can say our first sleepover was a success.” I smiled, “Yeah. I’d say.”
“Well darlin’ I hate to run, but I need to get home and get ready for the convention.” He stood up and went to grab his shirt but it was gone. We looked at each other puzzled.
I walked towards Lily’s room, he followed. There she was in her bed, clinging to the moose and squirrel stuffies, and she was wrapped in his button down shirt.
“Jensen, I’m so sorry. Let me wake her up and get it for you.” He touched my arm, “No, let her sleep. I’ll be back later today and I can get it then.” I nodded and we walked towards the front door.
“I had a great time last night, Y/N. I can’t wait to do it again.” “Me too, Jensen. It was incredible, you were incredible with Lily.” He cupped my face and with his thumb moved a fallen strand of hair. “So beautiful.” He placed a soft kiss on my lips and pulled back. “I’ll see you later, Y/N.” “Yeah, I’ll see you later, Jensen.” One last kiss goodbye and he left. Leaving me feeling like I was in a dream I never wanted to wake up from.

𝐎𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐫 𝐈𝐬𝐚𝐚𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫'𝐬 𝐀𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬
Characters: Steven Grant, Nathan Bateman, Llewyn Davis, Jake Lockley, Blue Jones Summary: Oscar Characters characters teaching subjects at school. Warnings: None WC: 1.7k
𝗦𝘁𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 - 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆
His natural passion and accidental ability to hyper-fixate on things means he can teach all the required topics with ridiculous detail, but we all know which subject he dominates best.
The vast majority of the students adore him. Mr Grant’s lessons are always fun, he lets the class make posters (that include all nine members of the Ennead), do Kahoot quizzes, create live re-enactments of historical events. Even when he’s just talking off a power point, his voice, mannerisms and tendency to act things out has the children engrossed and giggling.
The classroom walls are absolutely littered with posters, some bought and some done by students. There's inspiring quotes, positivity kittens and Egyptian puns.
Not only is he a good teacher, but a good mentor. Being autistic himself, he notices any neurodivergent or “othered” kids and makes it a point to find what they’re passionate about and working it into their curriculum. If someones struggling he’ll arrange one-on-one time, asking them what they’re strengths are not just to help figure out how to work with them, but to remind them they have strengths.
While most students do love him, the few troublemakers know he’s not the strictest and thus will absolutely take the piss. Feigning ignorance and struggles as an excuse to why they missed a deadline or didn’t do the homework. Steven, the optimist he is, is always happy to give second, third and fourth chances. It does take that long for him to realise they’re not genuine, and yet he’ll still try, convincing himself that he’ll be able to turn them straight with the magic of friendship.
𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻 - 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
It would be like finding a needle in a haystack trying to find a single student in the many years Nathan had been teaching that didn’t, at least at one point, absolutely despise him. Mr Bateman was far from the friendliest, lax teacher to his students, bordering on a bit of an asshole really. He had an absolute zero tolerance policy for time wasting, messing around and not giving 100%. All students were expected to keep up, get the work done on time and spend time studying and completing exercises at home. If you didn’t do that, you weren’t trying hard enough.
The common conception of a hard-ass wasn’t ill fitting, but it wasn’t without reason. Mr Bateman was a hard-ass because he wanted his students to grasp every opportunity at their disposal and stretch their potential. Some people were born smarter, some learned quicker from a young age but every single person could better themselves regardless of whether they started at Level 10 or Level 0.
It also shouldn’t be said that he wanted students that simply obeyed. It was a story passed down to students about the time a student, in a fit of frustration and defiance to the teacher that always pushed them, completely disregarded the set code structure and wrote their own entirely new one that completed the aim function. While everyone would expect them to be given weeks worth of detention and a reaming, but Mr Bateman simply smiled, said well done and moved on with the lesson. Apparently the kid managed to get a full paid scholarship into top university, but that was just hearsay. Rumour has it his middle name is Hamlet too, snickering students will whisper.
Besides his rigid teaching style, not much is known about him. The classroom is minimalist, only a coffee flask and a pot of three black ballpoints sit on his desk. The walls are sparse beyond a handful of posters about common coding knowledge.
𝗟𝗹𝗲𝘄𝘆𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘀 - 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗰
The beginning of every new school year followed the same routine. Kids would hear their music teacher was a published artist, get insanely excited, go to class then realise published was not synonymous with success and wither with disappointment. Mr Davis gave up caring years ago, at least he finally had a steady gig, albeit at the cost of his soul.
Classes were average. Sometimes students were treated to his natural singing voice, something that always sparked smiles and attention from the kids, but usually lessons were Llewyn bearing through kids bashing piano keys and drum pads as he wandered around and did his best to tutor them through it.
To kids that were required to take the class, it was alright. Mr Davis wasn’t a hard ass, although it did drain his soul to see kids blind to the brilliance and potential of music. His homework mostly consisted of practicing at home or listening to different genres. To kids that genuinely enjoyed music, it was bliss. Mr Davis was no dream mentor for sure, he was quite stubborn about what he thought “good music” sounded like, but when he sat with someone he could share the passion with, the kid would feel like an equal.
The classroom was always open to kids that wanted time to practice, he knew what an escape music could be, and would never hesitate to sit and work out a song or even add his guitar to whatever a student was playing.
The room was a riot on a good day. All sorts of instruments littered and surrounded the desks, posters of musicians and notes and the different types of brass instruments lined the walls and there was always something playing in the background. A basket of fruit and cereal bars was always sat fully stocked next to the door, with a “Help Yourself” sign stuck to it. No one knew why, and no one ever thought to question it.
𝗝𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲𝘆 - 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵
Spanish was always a full class, no matter what year or whether the students actually cared about Spanish. Students either swooned over him or wanted to be his friend. Mr Lockley knew, although had no clue why, but who cares as long as he was able to spread some Spanish around. The point is, Mr Lockley had no enemies at school.
Like a typical Spanish teacher, the register was taken in Spanish, if you wanted to ask to go to the toilet it had to be Spanish and if you wanted to pass notes in class they had better be in Spanish. He wasn’t the most forgiving, the man expected homework to be in on time and god help you if it was google translate. Mr Lockley would call you out, make you re-do it in his class at lunch or give detention to repeat offenders.
If students had been doing reasonably well he’d bring in some traditional Latin American foods for students to try, turn on a Spanish movie or even treat them to a little story about his past. Remember the Chef in Ratatouille that killed a guy with one thumb? That's the type of nonsense he talked about, albeit a bit more kid friendly. Most of the stories were embellished tales of him saving a grannies purse from being stolen, but some students always wondered about that hardened, broody looking teacher.
Mr Lockley prefers to keep his help to class time, long past learning his lesson about the very obvious students that came to him giggling and blushing behind their hands. On a rare occasion however, he will accept a student that comes knocking, overly apologetic and pleading for just a little help on their assignment, especially if the student is a quiet one. His lunch is set aside and he gestures for the student to take a seat before going over it with them, helping them with pronunciation, never shaming them or getting annoyed if they make a basic mistake. At the end he’ll even teach them how to say shit in Spanish, if they can keep it a little secret.
The classroom has posters of different Latin American countries, verbs and nouns, the different gendered terms. His desk was a little cluttered, a ‘Mejor Profesor’ mug, papers half marked and some drawings done by students hung nearby.
𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 - 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆
No one's favourite teacher but everyone knew him and had something to say. If a student had him later in the day they’d need to pray the morning classes were well behaved or pray they knew someone in said classes that could give a heads up on his moods. It didn’t matter either way, you could walk in one him sucking on his lower lip and glaring the entire class down and walk away with him smiling and patting backs. It was every student for themselves in that class. The only consistency was the white lab coat he wore.
There were obvious favourites, usually people who found a good balance of kissing his ass but not too overtly, asking for help while still expressing basic knowledge. If you asked too many questions, he would openly sigh or ignore you for someone else. If you gave an answer he thought was stupid, he wouldn’t hide the hands raking over his face in annoyance. If you were quiet and kept to yourself, you’d skirt by okay until one day in the middle of a lesson he calls your name with a faux chirp, predatory smile and ask a question. Answer correctly and you can rest assured he'll (probably) leave you alone for the next few lessons, answer wrong and enjoy doing exam questions as practice.
Detention for even a hint of a Breaking Bad reference. Openly hated a student named Jessie. Weirdly, students notice it's not the chemistry part that annoys him, it's the inaccurate portrayal of drug transactions and the costs. No one has dared ask why he knows so much about that.
Mr Jones’ door is usually locked at lunch and after class, he'll blatantly ignore any student that knocks and continue eating. On the stray chance a rare student manages to find him outside the class and has the balls to stop him, with his trademark sigh he'll begrudgingly set up a day and time to help them. It'll be a one-on-one session filled with eyerolls and being talked down to, but you'll get lots of extra knowledge and he'll even throw some of his old textbooks at you for free. Weirdly, he won't bother you in class anymore, just giving you a little smile out the corner of his eye.
The classroom has old periodic table posters from the teacher that retired years before him, and classroom rules about remembering to wear goggles or you'll go blind. The only thing on his desk besides several piles of paper is teacher mugs with variations of chemistry puns he pretends to hate.

Danganronpa characters as types of asswipes in college (in the US):
(They/them pronouns for Kiyo and Gundam)
The one who regularly walks into class 10 minutes late with Starbucks in hand:
Sayaka, Junko, Aoi, Byakuya (blames his chauffeur), Hiyoko, Miu, Rantaro, Kokichi, Angie
The one who needs a roommate reassignment in the first week (but they are the problem):
Junko, Celeste, Mondo, Fuyuhiko, Nagito, Teruteru, Hiyoko, Tenko, Kokichi
The one who ends up with a single room because all of their roommates ditch:
Hifumi, Toko, Gundam, Ryota (maybe they’re the imposter), Nagito, Mikan, Korekiyo, Gonta (the bugs are a deal breaker), Ryoma, Maki
The one that the professor doesn’t realize is in their class, since they rarely show up:
Hifumi, Chihiro, Yasuhiro, Mondo, Chiaki, Ryota, Ryoma
Is always going out and coming back to the dorms/frat house drunk at 3 AM:
Leon, Mondo, Yasuhiro, Ibuki, Kazuichi, Miu, Kaito
Frat bros:
Leon, Mondo, Taka (was dragged by Mondo to join his chapter), Kazuichi, Nekomaru, Kaito
Sorority sisters:
Sayaka, Junko, Aoi, Sakura, Sonia, Mahiru, Akane, Tenko, Angie, Kaede, Miu
Changes their major at least once per semester:
Yasuhiro, Nagito, Hiyoko, Imposter (obviously), Hajime, Rantaro, Himiko (just wants it to be easy)
Makes advanced courses look easy and makes everyone else feel stupid:
Kyoko, Byakuya, Toko, Chihiro, Taka, Sonia, Gundam, Miu, Kirumi, K1B0, Korekiyo
May as well be the one teaching the class:
Taka: asks sooo many questions. People genuinely like it, since it takes up too much lecture time for the professor to assign homework (he’ll remind them though)
Chihiro: Tutors half of the class in coding and comp sci. Gets absolutely no credit.
Miu: is probably smart enough to tbh. Get her in a physics class, and she will run the place like a military vessel (when the horny is contained)
Toko: English class specifically. She cringes proofreading other people’s essays.
Korekiyo: Is the unchecked autistic who will go on a rant about any subject they are really passionate about. Ask them any philosophical question and they will go on for the entire period. (This is where the professor will ACTUALLY forget tonassign the homework)
Gundam: Let them read Shakespeare. They will get into character and do different voices, and get angry when the professor stops them to go through the text.
The one who blows through their dining plan in the first few weeks:
Hifumi (the convenience store stuff is way more expensive), Makoto (was just too excited by all the choices), Akane, Sakura (the protein shakes will do it), Nekomaru, Kokichi (just blows it all on candy and soda), Kazuichi
Always studying in the Library and quirky local cafes:
Kyoko, Chihiro, Makoto, Gundam, Sonia, Peko, Mikan, Mahiru, Chiaki, Kaede, Shuichi, Kirumi, Korekiyo, Gonta, Tsumugi
Trashes the residence hall (especially the rec/lobby):
Leon, Mondo, Kazuichi, Ibuki, Nagito, Kaito, Tenko, Akane, Kokichi, Angie (uses it as a studio)
Smokes weed and sets off fire alarms, so everyone has to go outside at 4 AM:
Leon, Yasuhiro, Kazuichi, Nagito (he actually has a med card), Sonia (she got curious), Rantaro, Kokichi (hearing everyone complaining about it is what makes it fun for him), Korekiyo (the secret stoner no one expects)
Very Specific: Is the one working the night shift at the front desk of the residence hall when all of the drunk morons get back from the bar and has to rent them replacement keys, hand out packages, deal with stupid complaints over the phone, and call the ambulance/police every single night (this was me):
Kyoko, Hajime (got the short end of the stick), Shuichi (is a night owl and studies at the desk), Kirumi, Korekiyo (they are up all night anyway, and find this side of humanity fascinating), Peko, Ryoma (he genuinely doesn’t give a fuck what is going on), Maki (fuck around and find out)

I love finding characters I can relate (/project onto) within media. There’s something so comforting about seeing yourself on screen. I end up headcanoning most of them to be in-line with my identities (lesbian, wasian, autistic) because they are literally me in my head!!
Anyway here’s a long ass list of my favorite characters and why I head canon them as autistic for fun!! If you have any others you’d like to add I’d love to hear them. (And please note this is just my interpretation, and highly based on my experience with autism. I’m not saying they’re definitely autistic or that all the traits I listed are the dsm-5 criteria or something.)
Princess Bubblgeum from adventure time:
This girl is peak evil scientist autistic. Her intense need for control, the way she carefully observes the citizens she created, an outsider to them, not quite like them… god it’s so perfect. I read her as being somewhat low empathy as well, it’s hard for her to change her perspective to that of others. Plus the fact her brother neddy is a pretty obvious metaphor for higher supports needs autism. I think they of represent how autism runs in the family and appears in all sorts of different ways in different people. They’re sort of two different representations of the spectrum.
Marcy wu from amphibia
I mean this one is just obvious. The biggest nerd of all time. So obsessed with her RPG special interest that she literally sucks her and her friends into a fantasy world. She’s clumsy (just like me fr), very smart but super socially awkward, a little oblivious and naive. She’s terrified of change, especially if it means abandoning the few social bonds she’s been able to make. I honestly find it hard to believe this wasn’t intentional.
Entrapta from she-ra
Another pretty overt example. I do have some issues with how she was portrayed in the show- (keeping her on a leash was weird.) but overall I really love her. She understands her tech, not people, and it can cause her to come into conflict with other characters. Their treatment of her makes me sad at times, but it’s realistic. I also love some of her other quirks, her love of tiny food, her exitable demeanor, ect.
Pearl from Steven Universe
Peridot is the more obvious example of an autistic character in SU, and while I agree she’s coded that way, I personally resonate more with Pearl. She is not very socially aware, and bothered by disruptions to her routine/ broader life changes. She doesn’t like to break rules (despite being a literal rebel lol.) I find it interesting how she seems to have the poorest understanding of life on earth out of the gems, despite having lived here for thousands of years. She is graceful, but has an almost sort of awkward gangly-ness to her that I relate to. Her neuroticism is also very similar to how my anxiety disorder presents.
Pearl has a tendency to infodump, without realizing those around her are uninterested. Even her relationship with Rose struck a chord with me. The hopeless devotion to her, the way she followed along at her side. It’s how many of my friendships have been. Obvious it’s not exactly the same considering Pearl having originally been her servant, but while not being an explicitly autistic trait, that sort of clingy, starstruck relationship is something autistic people are prone to developing. She does little hand stims at times too that I love to see.
Poison Ivy (specifically the version in the Harley Quinn animated show)
I’m surprised I haven’t seen more people mention poison Ivy. Fiercely intelligent and deeply introverted, she isolates herself from all people, and only connects with and understands her plants. (Which her deep affinity for can definitely be read as a special interest.) She very overtly has trouble forming relationships with others.
She’s blunt, socially awkward and a loner, has something of a flat effect and a monotone voice. Those around her initially read her as cold and impersonable. Her struggle with social anxiety as well as intense fear of failure/ low self esteem is also very relatable to me. She also often struggles to express/understand her feelings and emotions. Her radical political ideas and the fact that she’s literally an ecoterrorist paints her as having a very strong sense of justice and a somewhat black and white worldview. (Me)
Finally, her relationship with Harley just SCREAMS neurodivergent solidarity. Harley Quinn is (I think canonically) adhd, and they’re both outsiders in the world that found each other and just… get each other. She’s Ivy’s closest and only friend and amazing girlfriend and god it’s all so perfect.
They remind me a lot of the relationship I have with my best friend with adhd except theirs is gayer.

We've got a wriggly one
Love a good "Ooh I'm probably going to make myself unpopular here" at the opening of an offensive post. We're off to a very good start.
If you have to preface your take with four paragraphs of disclaimers explaining how not-ableist you are, then I Have Got Some News For You
"Before you accuse me of being ableist"... I have literally never heard this phrase not followed immediately by a giant ableism, and this is no exception
"I'm not." That's not how this works. It's something we all have to fight against every day. No one is just "not ableist". We all have ableist biases that we need to work hard to be aware of and keep in check. If you think you're just "not ableist", period, end of story, that's concerning in itself.
Disabled people can literally still be ableist (and saying otherwise is in itself ableist). We’re all products of an ableist society, so we all have structural internalized ableism inside us. Just because you are not aware that you’re doing it doesn’t mean it’s not happening. It can be unconscious. It very often is.
"I've been a disability advocate for years, so I'm entitled to tell other Disabled people how to feel about their own representation" quit weaponizing your Disabled identity to oppress other Disabled people, also, I can already tell I literally never want this person as my advocate, ever
7. The Autistics never, ever need or want alltistics to speak on our behalf, so if you're not Autistic then you are most welcome to shut absolutely and completely up at your earliest convenience
8. “This is as close as I can come to being gentle"... I have an alternative theory, which is that OP could, in fact, manage to be gentle if they really tried. For example, I do not have to be scathing right now in this reply. I am doing it because that is a choice I have actively made.
9. "I say things that people misunderstand" is never a defense. Most of the time, it's victim-blaming. And by the way, if this isn't a defense for Autistic people (spoiler alert: it's definitely not), then it sure as hell isn't a defense for alltistics.
10. "This isn't meant to invalidate people's opinions" *Spends the whole post invalidating people's opinions*
11. "Unless the book specifically says x, y, or z, you're not allowed to... say that something is ableist" umm wow
12. If Autistic people say a character (a character written by an Autistic author, no less) is Autistic-coded, then yelling "no they're not" at us is a very concerning thing for someone to be doing. To anyone doing this, just think about a. Why you feel the need to talk over Autistic people about that and b. why it bothers you to have people say that character is Autistic. Seriously, take some time and think about it. And also - if you can't see how Aziraphale is Autistic-coded - how did you miss that lol? Also also - how is thinking a character isn't Autistic your "personal experience" of that character that you feel the need to cling to? ...That gives me the ick.
13. Calling someone out for doing something ableist is not "name-calling".
14. "If someone read one of my [books?]..." I'm assuming this sentence ends "I wouldn't want people deciding one of my characters was x, y, or z". Well, guess what? - If it's a book you're finished with, then it's out of your hands what people do with it now. And if everyone from the autism community is saying your character is Autistic-coded, then guess what? Congratulations, you inadvertently (or, I suspect, advertently in NG's case ^^) wrote an Autistic-coded character! Seriously, take some time to read about what "coded" means and how characters are coded as Autistic. We're not saying Azi and the Starmaker are literally, conically Autistic. We're saying they're Autistic coded. And we’re saying he has autistic traits that autistic people identify with, and calling him selfish or cruel or lacking empathy or emotionally unintelligent (just a few of the common autism stereotypes that people have flung at Aziraphale) or things like that BECAUSE OF THOSE TRAITS is ableist.
When Aziraphale struggles socially and people call him selfish or stupid because of it, how am I (someonewho struggles socially every damn day) supposed to take that?
IN CONCLUSION: In trying to tell marginalized communities why we're wrong to think certain takes are offensive, people invariably end up just saying a bunch more offensive things - and in doing so, prove exactly the point we were trying to make in the first place.

Propaganda:
Well there's all the killings. he hates his dad and would probably kill him given the right opportunity. insane levels of gender. lowkey autistic-coded if we're being real here. probably did his own top surgery or is a few days away from being a butch lesbian, it goes either way. pop star by day, mafia prince by night. he's kimlock holmes, kim possible, AND kimlor swift all in one. fumbled the bag so hard on the boy of his dreams. if his boy called him babygirl he'd drop to his knees no question

Hey everyone, dunno how long this might be, kind of doing a stream of consciousness style ramble about TNTF and me and stuff :)
alright so, tntf is getting a huge rework, this is my first if game ever, the coding is a little overwhelming, i know it’s fairly simple but it’s A LOT.
the reason i’ve been pretty quiet is mostly due to burnout, as some of you know i have health issues, i have crohns disease, i’m also autistic with adhd—something i love about this community is the understanding and acceptance for people/authors like me who may want to write but are just too stuck to be able to do it.
i know everyone is so jazzed for the next update, and i am too, there’s a few changes i’m making in regards to the technical aspects of the story, i’m removing stats, for the MC and for relationships. part of it is… i’m not a numbers person, trying to balance out the stats going up and down is a pain when this is planned to be a pretty damn long story. i also just don’t like it for my story personally, i don’t want you, as the player to feel like you have to game-ify personality or relationships.
this also opens the option for me to write more player responses to situations without having all of that annoying code in my brain~ MORE FLAVOR!
My writing has also vastly improved when it comes to fiction, a lot because i have been practicing so much while i’ve been sick (i’ve been playing with and writing AI chatbots on Janitor.AI, learning how to create a complex and realistic personality, an engaging character and world.) It’s been useful as a stress reliever and as a tool to help me write better, more descriptive etc.
on that note, smut in my game is also a very yes, i feel much more comfortable writing it now… heh.
i’ve also decided that all of my books are going to remain free, tntf was a planned three book series, it may just be one or two HUGE books, we’re going to have to see what i, and twine are capable of. but the story is going to span four countries and two continents of the world, so yeah.
the new rewrite is also going to slow things down considerably, because now we’ll have MC on a ship for four months as the intro, then meeting maddock and spending <insert amount of time here> with him while traveling to that little inn. it also gives me more room to introduce the characters a lot earlier but in their own POVs and not just while they’re with MC. i want the world to feel alive.
my decision to make and keep tntf free is because i want to.
i would not appreciate minors interacting with my content, but i also grew up with the internet, i know that no matter how much prevention we put in, minors are going to access our content regardless if it’s free or not. i just ask that if you are a minor and reading adult fiction, please don’t comment, dm or whatever, this is for your safety in the community as well as, i don’t want to deal with other people’s children on the internet, it’s nothing against any of ya’ll, you’re awesome, children are great but i’m almost 26, i really don’t want to deal with kids in what’s pretty much an adult space (i haven’t really seen books catered to the younger than 18 crowd, but like i’m saying, i’m more interested in forging connections with the adult community here, considering i am one, lmao *bats children away with pool noodles*)
i think that’s it
i might post more stuff but that’s my general direction
also to the asks in my inbox from last year on my birthday and forward… I READ THEM ALL AND APPRECIATE EVERY WELL WISH AND FEEDBACK, GENUINELY. i’m just bad at social media.

Why 90 minutes are not enough
As a hyperfixated fan, I will never believe 90 minutes will do Good Omens 3 justice.
The Second Coming storyline was intended as something of similar complexity to the Armageddon - and that took 5 hour-long episodes to tell. People who claim that many good films only take 90 minutes should consider that those production were always intended to last 90 minutes - that's the way they were plotted. Frankly, I can't think of a single satisfactory book-to-screen adaptation that would fit into this time restriction. Other STP books adaptations (Colour of Magic, Hogfather, Going Postal) are over 3hr long each. Stardust is over 2hr, and has a much simpler plot.
Added to that is the entire Aziracrow storyline that - let's be fair - is the main thing we all want to see done well. I'm afraid I'm not in the "just kiss and fuck off to South Downs" camp. That ending never held much meaning for me, because we all know how it ends. What I cared for was the path there - healing the heartbreak, becoming an "us". A simple apology dance, or "whatever let's just stop the world from ending" won't cut it. They're lovestory has so far been told through the fluffy, casual, seemingly unimportant details. The kiss isn't evidence of their love. It's the "don't go unscrewing the cap", "three tones of voice", "our car/our bookshop", it's the way Aziraphale's hand remains upright when Crowley's almost wraps over it, or how Crowley gives up the whole argument the moment he learns Aziraphale might be in danger. And through the flashbacks and minisodes now almost certainly lost.
And then there's the whole intellectual side of Good Omens. The show is often praised for being a wonderful queer representation, but not enough is said about it being autistic representation. Most ethereal and occult characters on GO are autistic-coded, but contrary to such productions as House MD, Sherlock, or Atypical, the plot doesn't revolve around them being ND. Instead, we, the neurodivergent recognise ourselves in tiny details - when Shax suddenly asks about hot water, when Muriel doesn't realise the Metatron has just offended them. But that isn't all. We, the ND people are drawn to the whole meta side of the show. The tarot card parallels, the mirror structure, the bloody camera filters! We are treated while being represented - this show is about us and for us. Have you read any of the mindblowing metas on tumblr…? Many people say that Good Omens is full of fillers that are easily omitted, but those parts are simply the ones whose significance the less invested audience didn't recognise.
Nothing of that will be left in 90 minutes. It can be a pleasant experience, an entertaining narrative of stopping the end of the world with, hopefully, a few sweet moments stolen away by Aziraphale and Crowley. And that's all. No nuance or riddles to be tracked over the next years, no grandeur of an epic story told with patience and no compromise. No narrative legacy to leave a mark in contemporary storytelling, the way season 1 did. No satisfying return on everything season 2 discreetly hinted (and how ridiculous that what was basically a backdoor prologue to the final arc will now be 3 times longer than the story itself!). And, above all, no carefully planned and slowly delivered healing.
Just. A 1.5h fantasy comedy to consume on a winter evening before moving on when they're gone forever.

Guess That Rec: Round 1, Poll 32
Rec #63
Do you like strong, autistic-coded female protagonists? With disabled love interests? (This one even identifies as a spoony!) How about multiple neurospicy supporting characters? Well, this has all of that, plus an arranged marriage, fake dating, ~gal pals~, and some really unique sibling relationships!
Rec #64
It's a coming-of-age story about friendship, found family, and learning that you can be who you want to be. There's many canonically queer characters, including lesbian and bisexual main characters, a few trans coded characters, and even a non-binary character. There's also many disabled characters, including a canonically blind main character and autistic coded characters! It's got enemies to lovers (and enemies and lovers ;)), forced proximity (>//<), rivals to lovers, love triangles!!! and secret romance. not to mention the strong female characters! more than half of the main characters are female! but get this… it all happens… IN SPACE!! You've got to read it!!

“Fatespeaker is annoying!”
To be fair though - from Fatespeaker’s point of view -
If an autistic-coded girl who lived a unstable life of constantly moving place to place in order to not be discovered by everyone,
While her foster and/or found siblings hate her and repeatedly state that and that she’s “annoying” right and that they wish she would die right in front of face face,
And possibly using her fake and/or made up visions aren’t real and/or true as a coping mechanism from the unhealthy and/or abusive environment that she lived in and possibly uses those visions as her only guide of hope and/or happiness within her life,
As well as clinging somewhat partly obsessively clinging to Starflight and having a crush on him, since he’s the only dragon that doesn’t treat Fatespeaker poorly and/or act $h!tty towards her, making him the only dragon that treats for like an actual dragon-
Then yeah. I would completely understand why Fatespeaker would act “annoying” and/or acts in that way.
Due to her being a autistic-coded and/or traumatized child that lived within a unstable and abusive environment for the majority of her life, using her untrue and/or unreal visions as a coping mechanism, and clinging onto the only dragon who isn’t outwardly bad and/or awful towards her.
I’m not saying that it’s bad for people to view Fatespeaker as annoying and/or I’m not attempting to shame them for viewing in Fatespeaker in that way, and if I did, I’m so sorry that I unintentionally did that.
I get why some people may view Fatespeaker in that way, due to how she talks and/or behaves towards others-
Although I honestly wish that at least a few people try to understand more or go a bit more into about why Fatespeaker acts that way, and/or how her trauma probably resulted in her to behave in that way, and not just viewing Fatespeaker from only the surface parts of her character that people are able to see of her, you know?
