Trauma changes our brains in such a way that this region of the brain gets fired quite a bit more often, and it shortcuts thinking. Doing trauma work with a qualified mental health professional can help you rewire your brain *again* so that your amygdala isn't firing as much.
In other words, dissecting your brain is *worth* it. Take your time to pick the right therapist for you, and do the work.
