An important aspect to our page is to provide accurate music history. Sources can be eyewitnesses, newspapers (& the journalists that report the events/stories) or the band making the history. This time it’s the Tacoma News Tribune from June 11, 1989. Excerpt: ‘Last year turned out to be fortuitous for the group; by November, Mother Love Bone had signed with a major label for a reported quarter of a million dollars. This happy state of affairs came about when a Geffen Records rep was given a demo of the group, which sparked immediate interest at Geffen and what seemed like every other major label around. After nearly 30 yrs, the iconic The Crocodile on 2nd & Blanchard in #Belltown is closing & moving.... Luckily #TheCrocodile will be staying in the same neighborhood: moving to the building on 1st Ave that until recently housed El Gaucho steakhouse, Pampas Room & Big Picture theatre – which is fitting, as it used to be the hall of Sailors Union of the Pacific (1954-1996), where @thePosies, Bikini Kill, Radiohead, @maryloulord & more played.... Part of a culture-rich block anchored by the landmarked Wayne Apartments yet slated for luxury #redevelopment that’s already displaced Mama’s Mexican Kitchen, Shorty’s, Rocco’s & Tula’s. Also home to Lava Lounge, Neon Boots, Funky Studios, Rabbit Hole & Mr. Darcy.

Luxury Mane - Gold Standard⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ @luxurymaneband #luxurymane #luxurymaneband #theposies #alternative #psych #powerpop #newwave⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ It's bittersweet that this is the 4th and final album from Florida band Luxury Mane that I'll be covering here (until, of course, they put out a new record!). I first connected with them last year when they sent me their discography minus the first album and I ended up liking it so much that I bought a copy of the first one too, just to make sure I had the whole run. This band is a beautiful project from some dudes in Florida that love the Posies as much as they love themselves, and they definitely have a hilarious (and earned!) sense of self-esteem...poke around on their Facebook page to see what I mean. They're super talented, they're funny, and they seem to be about something bigger, nay funner (!), than just being a pop band. It's one part psych, two parts power pop, a half dash of Modern English, and one big garnish of their idols, The Posies. ⁠ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠ Perhaps my favorite part of this band isn't just the music itself but the earnest and sincere people behind it. It's easy for me to get jaded by the big names that sometimes grace this page but so often the hardworking bands you've never heard of are the most down-to-earth and focused on their art. Not too awfully long ago, the "devastatingly handsome" Billly Summer thanked me for the coverage and for taking time to listen to what they were all about. I said it then and I'll say it now in front of a jury of their peers, It's absolutely my pleasure. Thank YOU for making music that evokes simpler, happier, and more enjoyable times in my life, Luxury Mane. #TBT: Sit & Spin! Ah, where to begin on this greatly-missed, legendary ‘90s #Belltown joint on 4th Ave…It was a laundromat/music club/art gallery/bar/café/diner – where folks could wash their dirty draws, see a punk show, play arcade and board games, and eat a big ass slice of $2 pizza - often all at once. The Sit & Spin embodied the spirit of so many old “only in Seattle” establishments, and was a favorite hangout for neighborhood locals, musicians, artists, students, street folks, whoever. So many great bands played small shows here, like #Mudhoney, #TheWhiteStripes, #ThePosies, #ModestMouse - to name a few. I had one of my worst dates of all time here (involving extreme inebriation/drug use and very unsportsmanlike behavior over a game of Space Invaders), but I still get hearts in my eyes when I think of this place. The Sit & Spin closed sometime around 2003
