Theory of Art

I’m pretty sure you’ve heard about the theory that the Japanese have about the 3 faces.

If you are unfamiliar with the theory, it goes something like this:

“The Japanese saying, “You have three faces: the first face you show to the world, the second face you show to your close friends and your family, and the third face you never show anyone,” invites us to unravel the complexities of our personas”

I think art works in a similar matter.

The first type of art is the one you post to social media for your followers and for the world to see. This becomes your signature; your face in the internet, in a way.

The second type of art is the one you share with your friends and family but never post it on an account that links yourself to you (if that makes sense; is like having a secret/burner account where no one knows where it is and post it just to express yourself).

The third type of art is the one that you never share with anyone. It’s the art that is personal and emotional and you rather watch all burn than allow people to see it. Now, I’m not saying posting emotional art is bad or anything; I don’t mean it like that. What I mean is saying that this type of art is the one you keep close to your heart.

I was thinking about this when I was venting through art again (it’s been a couple of shitty days), and I thought how awful it would be if anyone of my family walked in and saw what I was drawing.

I thought this theory was neat, so if you see it, can you reblog it, or like it, so I know that you agree with this theory? I’d be happy to know your thoughts!
