So, I’ve been on a little bit of a kick lately reading and re-reading some of @eneiryu ‘s awesome works, and got inspired. I made an edit for two of their stories that have firmly captured my mind and imagination both from a fellow author standpoint and an overall artist view.

I haven’t written fan fiction since I was like 15 (started off with One Direction OGs know what it was like circa 2010-2014… I still have battle scars) but I’m enjoying it so far and am really in the grove of Chris and his characters atm.

Just ask and I will let know if I can or I can’t! I try to put out good stuff and am happy to put in a little time to research and get the vibes of whoever you request a fic about.

While I don’t have many limits as to what I write as you can see on my page I do draw lines somewhere! So as long as it’s not too weird/illegal I’ll write it.

I am plus size/curvy myself so I’m really good at specialising in curvy!reader x character/celebrity because I feel like that demographic is underrepresented in fan fiction!

Fun fact about me:

I have a big girl corporate job so this is a hobby I do on weekends/after work to just unwind and do something fun and creative. I’ve been sick lately hence the massive output of stories. I like using my imagination for scenarios and what better way to take those maladaptive daydreams to the next level then to write them down!

Thiam Starter Kit

Here is a short and sweet starter kit , 3 author, of fics I would recommend to literally anyone, not just Thiam shippers, to get you into the wonderful ship that it Thiam! I included, the number of chapters, words and the status of each fic because those things are always something I like to know personally, but if you don’t care ignore them lol!! I hope you enjoy! 

To start: What is Thiam? Thiam is the ship name for Liam Dunbar and Theo Raeken in the Teen Wolf fandom. 

Is Thiam canon? Technically Thiam is not cannon, but there is a lot of speculation that it was either intended to be or should be. Lots of fans see a lot of sexual and emotional tension and chemistry between the two characters and I would say I have to agree. People tend to write Liam as bi and Theo as either bi or gay. I personally see both characters written in the show as bi, along with Stiles. 

Now lets get into the recommendations!

Note: I can never find good hurt Liam, protective Theo fics and this one is so good, if anyone else has a good recommendation for this kind of thing let me know!

And all the training, all the sleepless nights Theo had spent being forced to learn how to hide, slipped out of his fingers. Because apparently, there were some things that made you forget what it was like to be in control, and getting your heart ripped out over and over and over until you forgot what it felt like to not feel an ache in your chest was one of those things.

Author’s summary: Dangerous characters from Theo’s past arrive in Beacon Hills and want him dead. Liam is seriously not okay with this plan; especially since they seem hell-bent on slaughtering a group of supernaturals along with him. The beta’s in charge while Scott is gone, and no way is this going down on his watch. But if Theo and Liam want to stop the assassins and not be consumed by the passion, blood, and darkness that surrounds them, they’re going to need each other.

Set after 6x16, but the Hunter situation is ignored/on hold. Contains dual perspectives that will switch throughout chapters. Eventual E (Trust me. I’ve written the chapter. It gets there.)

Note because I have to: This one is actually fucking amazing! I have read it probably two or three times which I never do! Soooooo good!

Can be read as a multi-chapter epilogue to What It Means to Stay Alive, outlining the weekend that follows the final chapter. I’ll add more tags as I go because I don’t want to spoil anything. Will have alternating perspectives throughout the chapters as usual, and ratings will also jump around.

Or the one where Theo annoys Liam every morning with his awful singing until he doesn’t anymore and Liam is even more annoyed. Liam hates every single thing about his mornings -the fact that they happen in the morning alone is enough. The thing Liam hates the most about his mornings though is the terrible voice of the guy who lives below him. He can’t sing for shit and Liam tried to politely let him understand that by throwing flour and water on his balcony, and also by shouting it to him, you can’t sing for shit!, and then by writing it into a note he proceeded to attach to his door, but this Raeken guy just keeps doing it, every single morning, like a fucking rooster. Liam did nothing to deserve this. He probably didn’t do anything to deserve better either to be fair, he doesn’t expect to open his window and be welcomed by some angelic voice singing him good morning, he’d just be happy with nothing. Silence. That’s something Liam can appreciate in mornings. Just some bark from his dog and the sound of his misery and that’s it. But no, god forbid the new guy lets him have that.

Summary:

Theo and any kind of relying on people is like oil and water. He just doesn't mix well with others, no matter how hard they get shaken up or often they’re thrown together. Yet, he’s up and thrown himself to the hunters with someone other than himself as the lifeline, trusting not just that the cavalry will come but that she’d bring them. And that’s really all she has to say for the other puppies to come to the same conclusion.

Benefit of the Doubt

I can’t stop thinking about fandom expectations in Teen Wolf and how they’re dependent on race.  It’s inspired by this post by @bigskydreaming​ which I thought was really insightful about how fandom misreads the dynamics of trust in Season 5A.  

Think about how a large part of fandom approaches the Scott-and-Stiles friendship dynamic.  You can see it in the predominance of Scott-is-a-bad-friend reactions in Scott’s tag on Tumblr and YouTube.  Think about meta which takes Scott’s and Stiles’s eventual hostility to each other as a given.  Think about fan fiction story after fan fiction story which uses as it fundamental principle that Scott doesn’t deserve Stiles’s friendship and that Stiles deserves better friends.  To paraphrase the author’s notes of one popular work ‘the truth is that Scott isn’t there for Stiles as much as he should be.  Scott always has his reasons, but it’s hard not to resent it.’

And never, never do they ever consider how much the ‘not there for X as much as they should be’ is so weighted against Scott as to be ridiculous.  Stiles can choose to be there or not, whatever his present emotional state demands.  As much as they like to write Stiles is Pushed Out of the Pack fictions, the only person who ever tried to separate himself from the pack was Stiles.

Think about how parts of the fandom interpret Scott’s aggressive reaction in Wolf Moon (1x01), where he throws Stiles up against the wall, as Scott trying to kill Stiles, when Scott actually pulls himself back.  The scene is frequently used as a reason why Stiles shouldn’t trust Scott anymore.  (But it’s never used to argue why Stiles should not trust the nearest Hale, people who actually physically hurt Stiles.)  Scott had more aggressive reactions to Stiles in Season 1 as well. Two in Second Chance at First Line (1x02), neither of which resulted in physical harm being done to Stiles.  The first time, Stiles snapped him out of it with a fire extinguisher and the second time Scott ran away on his own.  The other one was in Lunatic (1x03) where a taunted, anchorless Scott in the thrall of the full moon yelled at Stiles, but when he broke free of his chains didn’t even try to attack.   

I can see the defense -- but Scott scared Stiles!  Or course he wouldn’t trust him, even if Scott was being influenced by the moon.  Yet somehow, parts of the fandom don’t think Stiles would have trouble trusting Derek, whom Stiles literally admitted scared him, or Peter, who reenacted every major slasher-fic trope with Stiles in Night School (1x07).   

Think about how often the reactions, the meta, and the fan fiction holds Scott accountable for not putting Stiles first, such as for the unforgivable sin of turning his phone off when on a date with his girlfriend and he thought Stiles was in school, or hanging up on Stiles when he didn’t know Stiles was in danger, or being dragged by Derek into stopping Jackson when Stiles had been kidnapped, when he didn’t know where Stiles was.  To parts of the fandom, all of these are friendship breakers.  How many times in fan fiction has Stiles ended his friendship with Scott because he just can’t rely on him? Because Scott’s not focused on Stiles, 24/7.  You don’t have to look very hard.

These incidents are considered more than enough -- no matter how the production framed them -- for parts of the fandom to believe that the end of their friendship was inevitable, stemming from Scott failing their expectations for his behavior toward Stiles.  But the obverse is never held to be true.  

No greater example of this exist other than when parts of the fandom reduce Scott’s refusal to automatically trust Stiles in Season 5A to “believing Theo over Stiles for no reason.”  You see, they expect Stiles to take Scott’s previous actions into account when evaluating Scott, but Scott cannot take Stiles’s previous actions into account when evaluating Stiles.

As if Stiles hadn’t physically tortured Scott because he believes Scott got his dad hurt with an injury that was gone by the end of the next episode.   As if Stiles hadn’t actually taken steps to get Derek killed or angrily argued about killing Jackson.  As if Stiles hadn’t charged the fused twin alphas with a baseball bat.  As if Stiles hadn’t been paranoid and violent at the beginning of 5A.  As if Scott hadn’t caught Stiles in a lie.  

And those are just reasonable, rational reasons for Scott not to trust Stiles in this matter!  What about the trauma reactions, which are just as powerful as the trauma reactions that led Stiles to this point in his behavior?  What about the trauma to Scott arising from a demon with Stiles face torturing Scott with an oni sword?  What about the emotional reaction to the fact that Stiles trusts Scott so little would literally conceal something this important even after Scott gave everything to save Stiles before?   

And that’s the point.   The fact that even during Scott’s first few weeks of lycanthropy he never laid a hand on Stiles doesn’t erase for them the right for Stiles to be afraid of Scott.  That fact that Scott turning off his phone or hanging up on Stiles in a tense situation is eminently reasonable doesn’t preclude them from concluding that Stiles shouldn’t rely on Scott.   But the calculus of history doesn’t go both ways.   

Yet here comes the kicker.

It does go both ways with [Insert White Antagonist Here].   Of course, Stiles would forgive Derek’s violence and deception and trust him implicitly, because Stiles did the same to Derek.  Of course, Stiles can rely on Jackson or Isaac to do what he thinks, even though they were hostile and stubborn.  Of course, Stiles would make exceptions for Liam’s control issues.  Of course, Peter would put Stiles first, even though Peter never put anyone before himself.  Ever.    

The only person who doesn’t get the benefit of reciprocal trust and forgiveness is Scott.  But that’s not really true, because Deaton and Morrell and Braeden don’t get it either.  Because ... you know why.

BUT IT’S NOT RACISM.

Most Recent: barisi (law and order: svu)

How did I get into it? it’s my current hyperfixation but i’ve shipped it for a long time, basically since the first moment that barba and carisi were on the show at the same time years ago, and then i started reading fic when they finally had screentime together for the first time. i rewatch random seasons of svu every now and then and i always resume my love for these two when i do

Next: effoff (sex education)

How did I get into it? i recently decided to finally binge sex education and it’s just another situation where the moment they had screentime together, esp adam being an asshole to eric (cause i knew they were gonna do something w that i just KNEW IT), i was totally a goner for them

Next: harringrove (stranger things)

How did I get into it? oh god they’re my constant, my ~touchestone~, i will never not love these two idiot boys (i have other hyperfixations rn but they’ll always be my number ones) but i didn’t actually get into them until like january of 2019?? i’d been in between fandoms and decided to rewatch st and noticed their chemistry for the first time and i was like hold up.........then i tested the waters n read some fic and here we are

Next: thiam (teen wolf)

How did I get into it? so i’d watched teen wolf from day 1 that it aired, but i stopped circa-s5 because it was just. so bad i could NOT. i loved theo but the whole premise of s5 i just couldn’t get into. so i stopped for a few years, then one day i decided to finally watch s5 and ofc s6 naturally, and i got v attached to theo and liam. started reading fic and hyperfixated on s6 quite a bit and became a hardcore thiam shipper

Next: rickyl (the walking dead)

How did I get into it? i don’t know. i don’t even watch twd anymore, i stopped after the mid-season finale of s6, but i’ve always loved rick and daryl’s relationship. i still rewatch the first 4 seasons every now and then and get back into my rickyl hyperfixation. this is also a ride-or-die ship of mine that i’ve had for a long time and i go back to it often

Next: stucky (captain america trilogy)

How did I get into it? this is such an old ship of mine that i really don’t even remember. i’ve been watching marvel movies since i was in middle school, and i started getting into the fandom around my freshman year of high school. the cap movies were always my favorite and bucky was (and still is) my favorite fictional character, so me shipping stucky just evolved naturally. they are my number 1 ship of all time and i’m not ashamed to admit it

Next: sterek (teen wolf)

How did I get into it? I WAS LIKE 12 AND IT WAS MY FIRST M/M SHIP, they are the OG’s, the lights of my life, the fire of my loins. i started watching teen wolf when it first aired and around the same time had just joined tumblr about a year before, so i was already getting into the fandom side of tumblr when i started following teen wolf blogs. a lot of people were posting about sterek and it peaked my interest, and i v quickly got invested!!

Next: mulder x scully (the x-files)

How did I get into it? i’ve been watching txf since i was literally an infant. if we wanna be technical, actually since i was in the womb (my mom is a major txf fan and she apparently watched it all the time when she was pregnant with me). i always watched it with my mom growing up, and mulder and scully were so obviously in love how could lil ol’ me not develop a serious love for them??

So I’m not really sure you should post this because I’m gonna name the title and author of the fic but I’m just a little confused by this fic so here goes:

This was like Schrödingers Scott stan for me?

Ok so the first pairing in the tags is Stiles/Derek but then there is the “slow burn Sceo” tag and I’m like Sceo? but ok. It’s a re-write of season 6B, so all other seasons should apply (I’ll come back to that one).

So the fic starts with Siles and Derek already a couple (which has become like a little red flag for me? Now domestic fluff is great, I love that stuff. But lately a lot of not-really-Sterek fics have used that. Tag the fic Sterek, Sterek is already a couple, couple X/Y is the acutal main story) and Stiles is training with Deaton to be Dereks emissary (Derek is an alpha, either again or still). Stiles and Derek don’t really turst Deaton so they bring in an emissary from a different pack to help Stiles. So far standard fare.

This guy comes in and has practically a villain sign flashing over his head. Not only that but in his first interaction with Deaton he basically says “I’m the villain of this fic”.

Then Stiles sees Scott killing his dad and (the fic kinda lets it open ended, at first, if it really was Scott being controlled or something that looked like Scott) goes “I’m gonna use ALL my power to kill Scott” *record scratch* wait what? and Derek goes “whatever you say, honey” *eyebrow raise* ..ok?

So then Scott gas to go on the run from the Hale pack (which includes Lydia, yay, and Malia, ugh) with only the help of Deaton, Liam, Corey (who? lol), Mason and Theo. And I admit, this is the part where I started skipping. I basically only read the Sterek parts of the chapters (or the “not Scott” parts) which became less and less, so my knowledge of the fic gets kinda wonky.

Stiles gets more and more corrupted by evil!emissary (he had some funky name like Moody, Modhi, Moudi? idk, evil!emissary it is) and Derek is an alpha that goes “I don’t know what to do, lets just make my boo happy, I guess”. Evil!emissary and Peter kill Satomi and Derek just grumbles about it.

And this fic could’ve still been something if the author had made them villains. Like a dark!fic where Stiles and Derek hunt down Scott could’ve been interesting! but no.

I don’t remember which came first but Derek meets up with Scott and goes “I know evil!emissary is evil but I’m worried about Stiles, so could you plan something while I keep Stiles save?” and Theo arranges a meeting between Stiles and Scott and Stiles like “I know it seems ooc for you to kill my dad (and ooc for me to not have *any* questions, like at all) and that evil!emissary is evil but I will observe evil!emissary while you make a plan ok?”

I skipped a lot and still wasn’t complety sure if the author was a Scott stan. Stiles and Derek were dumb but not the villains?

Then it gets weird (I know, I *know* now? wait for it). The “ghost” of the Sheriff shows up and Stiles meets with him. The “Sheriff” informs Stiles of a spell that could proove that Scott is guilty and avenge the “Sheriff” (Stiles of course doesn’t question any of it because he knows that’s not how his dad sounds so why question it).

Derek tries to stop Stiles but is too late. Stiles does the spell, sees Scott didn’t kill the Sheriff (wow, what a twist, I’m shocked) but also turns Scott into a beta til the next full moon.

Then evil!emissary reveals that he was evil (dun dun dun!) and in a really surprising twist that the mute apprentince he had was actually a hexed Cora in disguise that he had turned into a alpha and manipulated the pack bonds to make Derek obsolete and him in control of the new Hale alpha (this fic could’ve been good! dammit).

Then he orders Stiles to kill Derek and Lydia and Stiles has no control over his body because he let evil!emissary manipulate him for 15 chapters. Now normally I would go “Dereks not really dead” but with this fic? I really didn’t know but I also was 2 chapters to the end and still not sure if this was a Scott stan, a twisted Sterek or a new!pack fan including Sterek for the hits.

Evil!emissary and Deaton have a showdown (btw before the showdown the fic “earns” it rating by having Liam/Brett and Scott/Theo bone) while Scott inacts his plan (since I skipped, idk if this plan was told or not).

Derek and Lydia are not dead (ha!), Deaton helps Stiles free himself from evil!emissarys control, the “Sheriff” is a vampire called Ennis, Scott and his pack subdue the other wolfes and evil!emissary dies (and meets up with a guy in the afterlife? apparently I skipped a tragic backstory, oops).

Stiles profusely appologizes to Scott and Scott gracefully accepts while remebering the Nogitsune (which brings to my other peeve, the *whole* fic when it comes to Stiles/Scott conflict they only mention the Nogitsune but not *Donovan*! Theo it there and they mention the Dread Doctors so season 5 must’ve happened but no Donovan?!).

The remaining alphas (Deucalion is there, I didn’t mention him because he does as much as he did in the real season 6B, and Brett became an alpha somewhere?) decide to have a peace summit and Scott gets to hold it because he’s the best.

The end

From chapter to chapter I was unsure. Is this a Scott stan? Ok this is pro Scott but is it anti Stiles? Why is there Sterek? Why even use it if not going full dark!pack?

Sorry for giving you this wall of text. Hopefully you found it even parts amusing. I don’t think you’ll read this fic but if you are: this isn’t written badly but here there be epithets, you’ll get a lot (a lot!) of the wolf/the older one/the dark haired one etc.

SK: Actually, I looooove this!  I could have warned you about EK though.

He pretends to be neutral and basically think sterek are hot and dumb. So he tolerates them, but can’t stand the attention they get over Scott. He’ll swear up and down he’s unbiased, but as you can see in this fic…. lol. 

A Good Guide for recognizing Scott stan nonsense in Sterek fics:

1) Scott is paired with someone who has a bigger following with Stiles (usually Theo, sometimes Liam and Peter). 

2) Established Sterek so they can throw it in the background

3) Stiles is extremely black and white. No middle ground, he wants to kill evrything, he’s recklessly impulsive, he acts like he suddenly hates Scott

4) Maliuggh is in the Hale pack

5)  Deaton is good and never questioned or he is and there’s an undertinge of racism

6) Everything *happens* to Scott, he never is the producer of action towards him

7) All the commenters are from the Teen Wolf Legacy discord

Again, they can have that fic, I’m not against it. I don’t even mind them tagging Sterek. Just as long as they know they’re not fooling anyone. *shrugs*

The main thing that bothers me is that without the pettiness there is a good and interesting story in there. I saw someone ask about the lack of communication and the reasoning EK gave for Stiles not questioning are the same that they try to give to Scott when he messes up. 

In a regular fan, you can hand wave this, but what they’re doing is creating a dynamic where we forgive Stiles for his actions and then when we rag on Scott they can point to it and be like “See? You’re racist! It was ok when Stiles did it, context doesn’t matter!”

That obvious lack of transparency is what makes it so you can’t enjoy a simple fic. Like is it worth their time to write 93k of petty fic? 

Maybe, but that doesn’t mean I have to read it. It’s even harder when it’s a WIP. Once I see the story going south I’m like PAUSE and wait until it’s done.

for some context:

okay so picture this your me, queer & mentally ill and as one person with this criteria does i am reading fanfic & listening to the pitch perfect sound track.

now as any sane person does i take a minute and think wow, how can i combine this to make a cursed headcannon this…

…boy band,, like treble makers style accapella group but it’s just the pack

like please tell me you don’t see this group of like scott, stiles, mason, issac and like theo being in a fucking accapella group togther

also for my pitch perfect fans bumper is def peter, this doesn’t make sense in actuality but it makes sense to me so it’s okay.
