It is a thing that happened and I still kind of can't believe it

I went to Tall Tales and it was so lovely and there were such talented people (including Susanna Pearce of the JFSP musical element who sang two songs from a musical she's working on) and JF did a 35 minute staged reading with three other people of something he's working on that's essentially fanfiction of one of my favorite book series and it was so much fun

AND THEN I STOPPED HIM IN THE AISLE AFTER AND TOLD HIM HOW MUCH I LOVE HIS WORK AND HOW MUCH IT'S MEANT TO BE ABLE TO, IN MY WORST MOMENTS, JUST SWITCH ON HIS SHOWS AND CARRY ON AND FEEL BETTER

AND HE WAS SO NICE! I HAD ALWAYS HEARD HE WAS NICE AND HE REALLY WAS, I'M SURE HE HEARS THIS KIND OF THING ALL THE TIME BUT HE WAS SO SWEET IN HOW HE RESPONDED, I'M KIND OF FREAKING OUT, IT JUST FELT SURREAL BECAUSE I WAS TALKING TO HIM AND EVERY SO OFTEN A SYNAPSE WOULD ACTIVATE AND I'D BE LIKE "I'M TALKING TO JOHN FINNEMORE RIGHT NOW"

BnHA is a world filled with such enormous potential to thrive, through its storytelling. Potential discrimination, a world outside of the hero vs villain thing that still has people with quirks. Even within the hero vs villain career there's such diversity! And it's all so underutilised. Not to mention the fact that the plot is stupidly rushed sometimes and the fact that the entire story takes place in only Deku's first year leaves a lot of time empty when it could've been spaced out better. I love the ideas and the characters can be good, but I feel like they aren't used to their fullest potential and that can be infuriating.

Sometimes I’m reminded that in universe Chilchuck is an actually influential figure who like. Made huge advancements for his people and community. Like as in gave them rights and protections. And who is widely known by half-foots because of that. Like. He’s not just some guy.

I could think of no better way to share the news than this!

So when I was 17, my cat went missing and I'd given up hope of ever seeing him again.

Until on Monday, 27th of May, 2024, my friend sent me a FB post asking 'isn't that your mother?' about the person named on the microchip.

Here he is! 16 years old, and found safe, twelve whole years after he went missing!

Yesterday (Tuesday the 28th of May, 2024) I went to the rescue that had him, and I reclaimed my boy, renaming him Artie! (He'd originally been called 'Cat' because my mother and I couldn't decide on a name)

He's home safe with me now, currently inhabiting my bathroom and purring up a storm every time someone goes in there!

I'll be doing slow introductions between him and my current cat to give them the best possible chance of living in harmony!
