The thing that gets me about Molly's dad is that, from what we've seen of him, in any other show, he's not a bad guy. The comparison I keep jumping to is he's like if Greg Universe didn't have three replacement rock moms for his son.

Greg Universe is like straight up the best cartoon TV dad I can think of off the top of my head, how dare you compare him to Epithet’s resident Stink Man.

I just listened to the King Falls AM Christmas Musical episode (which was amazing) and I was curious what you think a musical episode of The Bright Sessions would look like?

Ideally written by somebody else? 

I’m only partially kidding - I love musicals, I grew up on musicals, spent most of my youth thinking I would go into musical theatre, got a degree in music, etc. So one of the grandest ironies of my life is that I cannot, for the life of me, write music. 

Doing a musical episode would be a complete delight, but is currently more or less impossible given the narrative structure of the podcast - yes, we’ve stretched the plausibility of some of these episodes being actual recordings in the world (and boy, am I really stretching that with the rest of the season), but having everyone break into song would be pushing it a little too far. 

That being said, I have thought a lot about it and know exactly what narrative trick I would use and which characters would sing and about what, but it’s not a podcast episode. So, it is possible that we could see these characters singing at some point in the future, but it would be an extra-canon type of thing.

Oh sure—

Fina/Betty: so good. Such a good ship. Like listen, Women Being Friends in fantasy stories is so underexplored, but putting that aside, this ship? The mutual respect? The banter? The considering each other family? The HEIGHT DIFFERENCE??? It’s so good. I feel like if they are an item, they will have been for years before season one. (Although the idea of both of them being briefly basically dead catalyzing Something New is interesting.)

Sterling/Meltyre: is there anything better than two very different people experiencing the kind of character development that makes them wonderfully complementary to each other? No. No there isn’t. This ship is GOOD. I do tend to think that neither of them would be quite ready for a relationship until after season two, but the idea of ship shenanigans while they are still adventuring is so fun.

And the nice thing about these ships is that i could see either of them having one or both participants as ace or aro, or being QPRs. It all just kind of works. Because Friendship.

Sterling/Fina: so like one time my friend was like “i know sterling and fina is the natural ship” and i was full of confusion, because in what world, dylan?? He did finish the sentence with “but i ship betty and fina,” which is the correct answer, and i decided to forgive him because he is extremely het.

What podcasts would you guys say inspired the Shizno?

So the original person who started the podcast was @oroborosnz, way back when. Then he left it to Daft and Rane and I was brought on to do other stuff mostly because I started posting stuff to tumblr and found a new way to share the podcast.

So originally the podcast was very different! And Id like to think that the way it is now as The Shizno was heavily inspired by the original LFTO Shizno. If that makes sense?
