Character Development Questions

3. How do they position themselves in a group? Do they like to be the center of attention, or do they hang back at the edges of a crowd?

More like somewhere in the middle. She’s typically the Mom Friend and tries to look out for everyone around her. She never puts herself before others, or let her fall back so far that she’s forgotten about.

13. How do they greet the world — what is their typical attitude towards life? How does it differ in different circumstances, or towards different subjects? Why do they take these attitudes, and why do they change? How do these tend to be expressed?

She’s really enthusiastic about life in general. She’s always smiling and bubbly. Sunshine literally radiates off of her. It’s pretty rare that she shows anything less than, or that she’s distressed. She prides herself on having an optimistic outlook on life, even if it gets annoying.

She tends to be a little bit more real when she’s with Arells though.

23. How do they respond to difficult social moments? What makes them consider a social situation difficult?

She’ll step back and try to find a solution to it as soon as possible. She doesn’t like to let things linger and fester to where it gets toxic, so any ounce of tension or any arguments etc will get taken care of immediately.

28. What are they likely to do if they have the opportunity, resources, and time to accomplish it? Why?

She’d really like to get into tarot and crystals, anything mythic really. The aesthetic is what she likes the most about them, but she has an open mind to the spiritual side of it all too.

35. How and why do they internalize knowledge? What effect has that had on them?

She doesn’t really like to keep things from others for reasons stated above. Even if it’s unpleasant knowledge, she’ll discuss it the best she can (sugar coating it to all hell and back). Though.. sometimes the want to keep someone safe of heartache outweighs the need of truth, so she’ll withhold information so she doesn’t have to be the one to make said person feel bad.

41. What associations do they bring to mind? Words or phrases, images, metaphors or motifs? Why?

Motherly, sympathetic, tender, sweet, determined 

I associate her with things like calm beaches, rooms filled with plants, shades of white, blooming teas, yoga, anything meant to be calming really.

oc fact swap, for whoever you feel like answering about: i have a salarian doctor by the nickname "zett" (most people struggle with his real name) who works on omega. he got his medical license revoked after a patient made a huge fuss over something that wasn't really a big deal, and rather than pay the fines, he and a few of his brothers hatched a scheme to fake their own deaths and skip town for omega, thus sticking all the fines to the one brother they worked with they hated.

That’s awesome.

I currently have two unfinished DAI games underway, one with a human mage (Aventine) and one with a human rogue (Francis). I headcanon that they’re sister and brother. And for as long as Av was in the Circle, Francis had been trying to sneak her out of it. Also, Av specialized in healing spells, and was only brought to the Concalve as medic, as a precautionary measure in case the event turned violent.

BEFORE THE BEGINNING:

“You don’t think we should stay here any longer.”

It’s not a question so much as a statement; bitter, disbelieving, and a decent amount of angry laced around the words. Nikon doesn’t turn his head to face Elder Hale, and he doesn’t respond. He’s said his piece already.

“We’ve had this encampment for nearly twenty years, now, Nikon, I don’t see why we can’t stay here. You and your kind have kept us safe–”

“All due respect, Elder, twenty years ago I had a full team of guardians with me.” Nikon cuts him off, trying and failing to keep the sharp edge out of his voice.

Elder Hale stares at him. Nikon has protected these settlers for nearly three generations, and he’s always given his thoughts but bowed to the decisions of their own leader. Just this once, he wishes it was the other way around. “So you’re saying you can’t protect us here?”

“I’m saying I’m doing the best I can,” Nikon says, the angry edge to his voice giving way for weariness. “I’m just not sure how much longer my best will be enough.”

He turns his head slightly as the Elder lets out an aggravated sigh and turns to storm away from Nikon’s post in the courtyard; head shaking, Nikon returns his attention to the overgrown ruins around him.

He has an unfortunate feeling that his best isn’t going to be enough, sooner rather than later.

Last Sentence Tag

Here we go again. I’ve been tagged by @thecouncilwasright​ (thanks!). So it’s not even a sentence, it’s long as hell and it’s not the last one I wrote, but I like this scene so whatever I guess :3

Somebody knocked on the door upstairs. He flinched, nearly tumbling over the wet floor. “Shlee, you there?” Anetha's voice did nothing to alleviate his sudden jitter. “Yeah,” he said. Then, with a hint of nervousness “I thought you were sleeping though?” “Come up now.” Her voice was strangely quiet. “Give me two minutes.” “Shlee, the Citadel's under attack.” He heard the words, and they were empty. “Under attack?” he repeated. So he could earn time for feelings to form. “Come and see.” No feeling had formed, so he put on his clothes. His head drowned in a low buzzing of thoughts, but he didn't pay enough attention to parse anything coherent. The ground was cold and sticky under his soles, the haze cradling him in his state of non-reaction.

What are they flaws? Do they like talking about them and/or do they acknowledge them and try work on them? 

Ken tends to underestimate himself a lot, Jun tells him he’s way too harsh on himself and he knows about it, he’s been criticized a lot as a kid so going over his actions during a mission got ingrained into his brain. But he’s trying to work on it, he also started treating himself better because he put other peoples’ problems before his own. He’s slowly getting there, boy just needs to be more selfish.

What is their favorite kind of weather?

He loves snowy weather, but the calm kind,,, not blizzards

What are their hobbies and which hobby is their favorite?

Aiden loves building his own gadgets and robots. Uhh he sometimes likes to mess with the crew and with EDI’s permission he hacks into the Normandy - turning on and off lights, flushing the toilet,,, just being a little shit. Sometimes he likes to make sure if Liara doesn’t read his messages, he’s way too paranoid and he knows how to counter the Shadow Broker’s hacking attempts, he’s been in the hacking business longer than her. However, he prefers building Roombas for his crew.

What animal(s) do they like the most? 

He just loves his hamster, her name is Pixel.

merc i have a #concept for u: what if the m.e. games are an exaggerated, "gritty reboot"-style retelling of what actually happened. it isn't ACTUALLY that depressing, some hotshot director just wanted it to be more ~dramatic~

THIS RECEIVES MY STAMP OF APPROVAL but what would even be funnier is if the game was released within the lifespan of shep and crew (the… non-asari/krogan ones anyway) and they have a gaming month where they all gather back in shep’s retirement home and throw popcorn at the tv and yell “THAT’S NOT WHAT HAPPENED” at various plot points. there’s a big debacle over who shep kisses first in the first playthrough (the kitchen became a riot place who knew old folks could chuck salad bowls so hard). james complains his muscles aren’t big enough. liara insisting she doesn’t say “goddess” that much (right? right?!) 

By the end of the series the only Truly Canon™ moment is shepard being super protective of her hamster.

Psychology OC Questions (send me some!)

17: Does your OC suffer from any mental health issues?

Basically just major depression. It’s not managed or anything, so he’s just kinda floating in a dark cloud all of the time.

23: Does your OC tend to hide something about their personality/essence when meeting new people? If yes, what?

He’s fairly straight forward with people. Mostly stern and stoic. It would take a whole lot of time for him to open up and be more loose with someone. So joking around or being playful won’t come so easily at first. It’s very hard for him to just... let go in general. If someone caught him smiling he’ll actually try to deny that he was.

27: Does your OC practice any kind of escapism? If yes, what kind?

Piloting is pretty much his way of forgetting everything. Sleeping around helps too, though he’s not addicted to sex or anything. Otherwise, he looks to religion and his spirituality.

Spectre of the Past 

11: What do you like best about this fic?I like that I got to explore more about how my Shepard feels about one of the biggest steps in her career: becoming a spectre. Even when I started playing ME1 the first time, and knew relatively little about her, I was certain that she didn’t want the job. It was also fun to think about how Anderson would handle the situation.

3: What’s your favorite line of narration?

An old krogan wandering alone, back stooped and face shadowed with thoughtfulness. The baritone thrum of a turian’s voice, giving directions to a passer-by. Pigeons, overfed and innocent, foraging for crumbs.

Idk, it’s so cheesy but I just really enjoy thinking about how people see the whole world differently when they’re with someone they love.

4: What’s your favorite line of dialogue?

“We have an actual bedroom for things like this.”

5: What part was hardest to write?The middle bit that connects the uncertainty and introspection of the start (question 3) to the, well, activities that come after (question 4). They were initially wandering all over the Citadel and the Normandy without getting to the point, and I was just like… please… is there no end…
