I agree; whenever I cancel plans with friends, there is a short-lived feeling of relief (bc it can feel like an obligation to be with other ppl), but going always takes my mind of things and helps me break out of the toxic loop. It can be refreshing.

Furthermore, I find, I tend to poison my expectations of a meeting as to how it will make me feel, which ofc, is always tainted by the present state. So when I feel like shit, I cannot imagine a social event making me feel any better. I hope it will get easier for you, love. You are not alone <3

you probably won't like what I'm about to say, but I think you should go along. Maybe message them before to say that you're not feeling well so that you have a way out to leave early. depression is honestly the worst and I still struggle to leave the house some days if it's to meet up with friends. :((

It might be naive for me to say this but think of every act to get yourself up as a small victory! Because it is! You feel this way but you should feel good about being able to pick yourself up off the bed, and hopefully keep leading yourself through small victories until you get to see your friend. You've got this, I believe in you! <3

Thank you so so much for your replies and support! <3 You’re all absolutely right, and thanks to your words of encouragement i actually went!! I texted her beforehand and let her know i was having a bad day and would probably leave early, and she was so nice about it the entire night, always making sure i was alright and not pushing me to talk or anything, and we ended up going out to meet some of her other friends and it was a well-spent evening :)) i still feel a bit crappy but with a lot of wine and distractions it’s more tolerable now lol

thanks man! yeah i guess so. at least i'm not claiming it as my own creation! i absolutely rely on looking at a picture when i draw tho, i have serious trouble drawing without a reference, so all my other drawings are either from photoshoots or random images i found on inspirational pages. but i figure as long as i use my own hands and pencils and draw from what i see it's alright (i hope). i always credit people if i imitate their artwork (like this one). it feels kinda weird doing it, but i need to practice, and my imagination is very limited lol
