Title: What does it profit a church...

That worldly success. It pays the bills' and soothes the soul, sorta.

Question for Christians--you don't have to answer publicly but maybe if you are willing, in your prayer closet:

If Rev Donnie Mcclurkin decided to live his life freely as a gay man and be in a relationship with a man..... Would you no longer listen to his music? Sermons? Accept him and his partner as your siblings in Christ? If he gave up his entire way of serving the church the way he does and followed a ministry call to places where battle weary beat up people LGBTQIA who had their lives cursed by "well meaning mean" Christians in historical mainline and holiness vibrations who throttle and thrive on throttling....would you still have room for him or would your season of connection be over for you?

The answer and the why are yours before God.

I have always been blessed by Rev Donnie Mcclurkin. I feel sad that he has limited his life for the people who go home to their opposite sex spouses who thank God for him and prefer he never talk about his own desire to go home to a loving partner too. He will have to decide if we cis-het people are enough for his emptiness. I will not let my love for Jesus be dictated by some of the same people who have said kooky things like telling single women that singlehood is a gift from God as they plaster all their engagement or anniversary photos...And the fainting spell frauds of who is allowed to have a baby without marriage and who cannot.

Talk to Jesus.

Full voice for the church and Rev Mcclurkin: Don't lose your soul trying to please church folk and your cash flow. Take your dollars and your singing ministry and trust that God wants you/ him to be healed and whole. That is faith at work. And he needs therapy but all too often in those circles they get counselors who are cray cray and not equipped to be discerning about what he is saying without telling him in his face that his flesh don't matter. Praying that him saying this again is actually him crying out for dialogue because I believe this dude is about to step away from all this isolation in a crowd to live his missing life.

By the way, the sugar analogy is preposterous, dangerous along with a few other things he's said that read as the church browbeating a message that makes them more haughty than always...

What if the Caskets (Not including Chara's Casket) never had any bodies in them and they were where Asgore stashed the souls? Like what if the first one was a real casket for Chara and the others were high strength/ high security containment for the souls so that they couldn't be stolen and after the run they weren't needed anymore? And Asgore kept them in a casket shaped container as a reminder of the sins he committed and theburden he bears. That or maybe the bodies went to their homes after?

Maybe! Hard to say. I just find it hard that flowey at his worst totally wouldn't look inside the caskets.

...or maybe not, actually. Looking into the first empty casket, chara's, and seeing nothing there must of been like. Traumatizing. I hope that poor kid didn't look into chara's actual burial sight, he's already gone through enough Canon horrors. I think its very possible after only looking at the first, he wouldn't look at the others. Good idea anon!

Tho i do wonder about the other corpses then 😰 where else would they be?

The Burden by Richelle Riley. REVIEW ✔️Tepid. This assortment contains entries from a lot of journalists/columnists and subsequently their pieces read like op-eds. It feels like the fire has been turned down or in some cases extinguished and keeps this collection from searing and singeing the page. And that kind of fire is what is urgently needed now if the intention is to wake up people and spur them into some kind of action.Editor Rochelle Riley, she too a columnist, gets things off to a rousing start with her title essay that sets the foundation for the book.She states in the introduction that the book has been swirling in her head ever since the columnist Jack Kelly intimated that yes slavery was horrible but no living African-American has suffered from it and indeed are better off here than they would have been if they remained in Africa. She was inspired to bring various voices to refute this type of thinking.

Rochelle Riley, a twenty year columnist states"Slavery is not a relic to be buried, but a wound that has not been allowed to heal. You cannot heal what you do not treat. You cannot treat what you do not see as a problem. And America continues to look the other way, to ask African Americans to turn the other cheek, to suppress our joy, to downplay our achievements, to accept that we are supposed to go only as far as we are allowed."So, the intent of the book, amongst the various voices is put the burden of slavery down lest we let it continue to darkly color our journey.

Unfortunately, Ms. Riley's beginning essay is one of the highlights of this volume and most of what follows doesn't measure up to the high bar Ms. Riley initially sets. T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh has a strong entry with, 'It's Not Just Hair.' An example of how slavery has impacted our psychology of hair. All the entries are really encouraging readers to understand and examine, "Yes, America has found unconscionable comfort in historical amnesia to racism. That has led to the nurturing of enablers of white supremacy who question the impact that race plays in the 21st century. Or do not care what role it plays." The challenge for books like this is to find an audience that normally falls under the 'do not care.' Otherwise it is more of preaching to the choir.
