An older lady finds interest & joy in beauty & make-up to help her cope with the loss of her husband.
happy femslash february, here's a 3 volume series of grandma yuri. in fact I'm quite sure it's the only multi-volume yuri that centers around Actual Old Women
the summary frames this as the main character coping with the loss of her husband, but… he was a bit of an asshole! and her memories of him are a little ambivalent. rather than a story about grief, it’s more about freedom and self-expression—with help from someone who’s more used to being blunt and outspoken
I really like that it’s a story about self-discovery; basically a coming-of-age for an 80 year old. there’s a lot that the main character has had to repress, or just never really had the chance to explore
there’s only two chapters translated in english so far, but please. give them a read. open your heart to grandma yuri.
#femslash feb recs#recs#ff recs#hiding this in the tags but I *do* think it would’ve been nice if the artist was a little better at wrinkles#but the only other grandma yuri are two oneshots with may-december romances#one by… I think the artist is shunita (I’m probably misspelling it) and the one in ‘whenever our eyes meet’#well there’s also the… diary manga? actually I should buy that one brb#BOTTOM LINE despite that the artist *is* the leader in grandma yuri revolution and I will always respect her for that

feel like the reason i can’t get into m/f shojo is because they’re very… Man and Woman.. like the gender norms/boxes are always so strong idk why😭 i’m always so detached from all the characters and story
#idk it always feels v traditional in terms of gender stereotypes idkkkKKK#probably why i enjoyed ouran sm because it didn’t feel like it was boxing the characters into being a boy or girl (even tho there’s still#some backwards ideology the overall vibe of the anime was much more free?)#i’ve always liked romances like my love story and ouran sm more#i also like kimi ni todoke (it did fall into the heteronormative boxes a bit tho in terms of just vibes idk ) but i loved that sawako felt#like a person who existed for herself even outside of the romance#i rly liked that she was v much the main character and her love interest couldn’t snatch that away from her#but ye yuri will always just be better to me the female characters are always sm better written😭#and all the typical ~couple~ roles don’t feel as cringy somehow#like i will eat tall/smol or academic rivals or popular/loser tropes if it’s girlxgirl but girlxboy… maybe sometimes… lol

I know I already recommended it before a few times but I have to recommend it again because it really is the most beautiful, perfect love story that I've ever experienced. The art, the colors, the characters, the world... all of it is so wonderful!
and it's literally available online for free you have no excuse https://www.webtoons.com/en/romance/always-human/list?title_no=557

i need to know the deep lore on why p3p allows you to have queer romance as femc when that one dev from the p2 duology was like yeah lol we included the jun romance to see if there was any money to court from fujo like fjkdhfjksjkd WHO WAS THIS FOR
#(it was for me)#but nonetheless genuinely who were they even writing that yuri for if that was their assumption re writing queer characters#like i do naurt think atlus devs are the kind of people to consider fujoshi as a group containing like. queer women as well.#tunes talks persona#like from memory. i dont remember stuff like aegis's romance being fetishised (i havent played portable in a LONG time tho)#like genuinely one of the most scenes of all time to have the robot gf imprint hamuko's fingerprints in her heart#so she'll never forget her and carry a piece of her always

Everyday I look at my nuggets and go maybe I should let my gay men get bitches. And then I make more nugget yuri instead
#rat rambles#oc posting#look most of my men likers are either not interested in dating dont exist in close enough proximity to a man or are women#so its a situation where the gay guys in the crowd just dont have any options that interest me much#I try to only do nugget romance when it rly interests me enough since most of them are work friends at best#not counting the extraction team we dont talk abt them#so generally the romance shit in this facility is limited to my og yuri warriors the polycule of lets beat eachother to death and the#obligatory extremely toxic yuri#oh wait and the token straight ppl I always forget theyre technically a romance since they take forever to actually start dating#they could be yaoi if I believed in emma hard enough but I don't believe in her#theyre not actually straight to be clear theyre my diversity hires who transed their genders behind my back#aka I looked at emma and realized yeah no youre not a woman#I dont know what her gender situation is exactly but shes def some flavor of transmasc#but idk I'm thinking on it more now and tbh she could have it in her to be a gay man#like maybe in lor she sees chesed and goes ohhhhh. god damnit.#either way I definitely think she hates the process of realizing at every step because she finds it embarrassing it took this long#which its not to be clear but she would still get very self conscious abt it especially since shes been surrounded by trans ppl for so long

4 for any/all wardens (warden ask game!)
4. Did the Warden have any romantic relationships before the game?
roshan was in a relationship with tamlen! they'd only really gotten their shit together and admitted they had serious feelings for each other about a year before the blight... but i mean, at least they got that year!
salin's deep in situationship hell with merrill by the time duncan shows up. they get in a serious argument after she's recruited, and it's pretty safe to say they consider themselves broken up after that if they were ever really together to begin with
isaac's gay and closeted at the start of the blight, so he's only really had flings that weren't really serious. there was one that could have been serious, if only he could bring himself to talk to his father about the whole arranged marriage situation... alas.
chaya's married (to nelaros) and has been for about ~15 years at the start of the blight. they have 3 daughters, and they do care about each other a great deal, but this marriage is already straining at the seams a bit even before chaya joins the wardens. they break it off officially several years after the blight.
ylva was also married, though her husband died a few years ago under somewhat suspicious circumstances. she's also had something on the side going on with gorim saelac for about 11 years... which coincidentally is only 2 years longer than her son has been alive. which could mean nothing!
diya, qadir & gavin have all had one off flings here and there but none of them could really say they've been in a relationship before. rookie numbers for both of the others compared to diya though because qadir's been tranquil for the last 3 years and gavin's had an embarrasing, one-sided crush on roderick (gilmore) for the last 4.... unfortunate!
warden/hof questions
#one thing about me is i'm always ready to bend canon for a little doomed backstory romance!#doomed yaoi doomed yuri doomed marriage...... we've got it all 👍#roshan mahariel#warden salin#isaac tabris#chaya tabris#ylva aeducan#diya surana#qadir amell#gavin cousland

shoujo manga discourse on twitter is fucking crazy because if it goes on longer than 12 hours the takes start turning into radfem rhetoric really fast. which could mean nothing
#ill be like hm this tweet is worded weird. and then u check the op's bio and theyre like radleaning feminist <3 like ohhh okay yeah#it's always the bitches reading straight shit and talking like an authority on yuri who start saying the craziest shit imaginable#literally that post thats like reading yaoi is so misogynistic but what do we expect from stupid fucking women#the gender essentialism spawned by the ladies who read only modern shoujo romance is crazy and yet they refuse to even say the word misogyn

I've been a hobby figure skater for almost 15 years now and it always bothered me that the only figure skating representation we have in media is one of three types:
1. the sports anime type, like Yuri! On Ice in which a professional skater has a certain goal in mind and they are training to achieve that goal. This also comes in the form of skater had a bad injury and is now working towards getting back to their level or finding their love for skating again or smth (I think Spinning Out had a plot similar to this, but I haven't see much of it, so I might be wrong)
2. the one showing the bad sides of figure skating like the movie I, Tonya or Tillie Waldens Spinning. These are about bad experiences with coaches, high expectations, toxic competitiveness etc. (Although both of the examples I named are biographical, so I can't blame them for being the way they are, and I also genuinely love both of them)
3. the figure skater/hockey player romance?? idk this one, I've never read it, but I think there's a popular book about it and it's literally the only thing wattpad has to offer about figure skating (yes, I looked on wattpad, I was desperate to find something, okay?) either way, I don't care much for it bc I'm not a big hockey fan
so, anyway, none of these three types is how I experience figure skating. to me, it was always about learning new things and about this feeling of spinning faster, jumping higher and moving faster than you ever could on solid ground. and it was always a type of performing art to me. figure skating is a kind of tool for me to express myself and to interpret a song. and I also love it so so much and always have a lot of fun being on the ice.
professional figure skating is none of these things. professional figure skating is not a performing art, it's mainly about having the most rotations in a jump. it's only when professional skaters retire from competitions and start doing shows that they start performing. so while media that focuses on that aspect of figure skating is very fun and I enjoy it, it's not an experience I relate to.
as I've also said, figure skating is my hobby and there's always been a lot of joy in it and I've never had any bad experiences with coaches, so any media that centers around the darker sides of figure skating, while very enjoyable, is something I can't relate to either. I do believe it's important to portray that side tho since exploitation is an issue in professional skating and in clubs that are more focused on training kids that wanna become professional skaters, the environment can be quite toxic and competitive.
I think the only figure skating I've seen in media that I could see myself in was Barbie And The Magic Of Pegasus. in this one, figure skating isn't the main focus, it's just something Annika, the protagonist, likes to do for fun. also her level of skating is comparable to mine. (I think she does an axel at some point in the movie).
when your average YA protagonist needs a hobby, it's usually something like painting or music (but specifically only things like guitar, piano or the violin) or they play football or basketball or they do ballet if you're feeling fancy. just casually having a character be a figure skater would be so fun! they don't have to worry about triple jumps and going to nationals. you can just have them complaining about how they still can't do more than three rotations on a sit spin or that they landed an axel at the end of last season but haven't been able to do another one since then. or you could write about two characters connecting over their shared love for figure skating, whether it be romantic or platonic. so many fun possibilities!!
#also didn't mention it in the post but yuri on ice was so real for having a relationship between two figure skaters#like that was always my dream as a child that I'd fall in love with someone I met on the ice#I think spinning out also had a romance plot between two figure skaters but like I said I haven't seen much of it#either way I might add a little something about my ocs that are figure skaters in the reblogs but I didn't think it'd fit the post#figure skating#fiction#writing things

Not to contribute to genre stereotypes but I just checked out & dropped a bl for being kind of mindless fluff and I’m considering dropping this yuri because. I’m feeling pretty weird about how the narrative doesn’t seem to be going in the direction of directly challenging and refuting the aristocratic love interest’s classism and the literal class warfare the story’s set her up for hang on this isn’t even yuri
#orlbs#misclb#like the office lady could clearly be the turning point#she’s obviously not working class but her position and experiences are of course going to be ‘a common person’s perspective#I was also going into this thinking OH BOY I HOPE THIS A ONE TO THREE VOLUME ROMANCE THAT CENTERS THE MAIN CHARACTERS#and the other keeps incorporating the ensemble and addjng significance to them#author??? I typed author??? how did that end up other????#hang on I wanna check something#WHAT THE FUCK THIS IS CLASSIFIED AS SEINEN AND NOT YURI#I WENT TO THE SITE FOR THE ORIGINAL RELEASE ANDCTHERES NO YURI TAG AF ALL#I LET MY GUARD DOWN BC THE ARTIST DOES YURI?!#THIS ISNT A ROMANCE!!!! FUCK!!!!!!! WHATS EVEN THE POINT#I ALWAYS LOSE!!!!!!!!!

this is so obviously due to misogyny tho why are we acting confused? in any form of media, the stories with male character most likely will ALWAYS sell better, hence why straight and BL stories are so beloved. yuri stories are only beloved by wlw most of the time because they don’t pander toward straight men and other than that, no one has any interest in stories that don’t revolve around men. this is why every story that doesn’t have a male character is such a Win for me. i’m still so pleasantly surprised and happy with the success for “the guy she was interested in wasn’t a guy at all” and the drama “jeong nyeon” it’s lovely that wlw stories are finally being picked up but …. idk look at ao3 ship stats, no one cares abt the sapphic girlies as much 💀 but this is such a terrible way of consuming media - is it because people want to be attracted to male characters? how can we develop and learn as people if we don’t read about other demographics and type of people? i personally want to read abt characters of different ages, gender, jobs, social status etc etc it’s so insane to me that ppl can only obsess over conventionally attractive male characters 😭
#this topic has always pissed me off 😭#and then people blame yuri fans for not doing enough like i will knock u out stfu#the only time women get any attention largely is when men get to sexualise them or romanticise them as their waifu of some sorts#so many female centric stories will ALWAYS have a romance involving a man. i’m sick of it!!!!! utterly!!!!!#women are never allowed to exist for themselves without the existence of a man at least as an accessory to make them more appetising to fans#it’s SICK#women deserve so so much better#western sales esp suck. so utterly male centric#i do think that east asia is better for female representation tbh but the west? abysmal#so sick of men lmao

Which Boyfriend Calls Back First?
Pairing: Frontman/Hwang In-Ho x Fem!Reader
Summary: You and your friends test your boyfriends' responsiveness with a playful TikTok challenge, and naturally, your devoted boyfriend In-ho is the first to call back.
Warnings: Fluff, Cute!inho, Clingy!Inho, Protective!Inho.
Word count: 1k
You and your four friends—Yuri, May, Chaein, and Hayoung—gather around the dining table, each of you armed with your smartphones. The room buzzes with a mix of excitement and nervous laughter as you all prepare to join the latest TikTok trend: determining which of your boyfriends will respond the fastest to a missed call.
"Okay, ladies, are we ready?" Yuri asks, her eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Ready!" everyone chimes in unison.
You steal a glance at your friends, feeling the collective anticipation building up. "Alright, on the count of three: one, two, three!" you call out.
You all dial your respective partners simultaneously and then quickly hang up, creating what’s known as a "flash" call. The five of you place your phones back on the table, the screens facing up, and exchange amused and curious glances, eager to see which boyfriend will react first.
May leans back in her chair, crossing her arms with a smirk. "I bet Mark will call me back first. He's always so quick to respond."
Chaein laughs, shaking her head. "Oh please, Sunoo is definitely the fastest. Just wait and see."
You feel a familiar flutter of excitement as you look at your phone, fully confident in In-ho’s attentiveness. "Well, let’s just see about that," you say, grinning.
"Honestly, In-ho will probably call back first because he's so obsessed with Y/N. I mean, I'm surprised he even let her come out tonight," Yuri jokes with a knowing smile.
It was no exaggeration; you and In-ho were practically inseparable. He despised being apart from you and would become upset if you were away for even a few hours. Heading out tonight to spend time with your friends had been an uphill battle, as he did everything he could to persuade you to stay with him instead. His unwavering devotion and the way he always wanted to be near you were endearing, adding a touch of romance to your relationship that made your bond even stronger.
Within moments, your phone lights up and starts ringing. The screen displays In-ho's name, and your heart does a little flip. You catch the surprised looks from your friends and can't help but laugh.
"Damn, In-ho’s fast!" Hayoung exclaims, genuinely impressed.
You pick up your phone, feeling a surge of warmth. "Hello?" you answer, trying to suppress a giggle.
"Is everything okay?" In-ho’s voice comes through, filled with concern.
"Everything's fine, love. It was just a little game we were playing," you say, your voice softening.
In-ho is renowned for his authoritative role and his emotionally guarded demeanor, but in moments like these, the depth of his love for you becomes undeniably clear. Despite the demands of his position as the Front Man, where he commands control and garners respect from everyone around him, you are the exception to his rigid exterior. Even amidst his busy schedule, he always ensures to carve out time for you, willing to drop anything at a moment's notice just to be by your side.
The room fills with light-hearted groans and chuckles as your friends mock-complain about losing the lighthearted competition. "Looks like Y/N's the winner," Yuri concedes with a playful pout.
You walk into another room, still on the phone with your love. In-ho's concern is palpable, yet there's a gentle humor in his voice as he says, "I could hear those groans and laughs—sounds lively over there."
"It's definitely lively," you reply, a soft laugh escaping. "We're just caught up in a silly game right now. But everything's all good, nothing to worry about."
There’s a brief pause, and you can imagine him thoughtfully staring into the distance, just as he often does.
"Are you having fun?" he asks, his tone lightening.
You smile, "Yeah, it's a lot of fun. We're all really into these goofy challenges."
"Good," In-ho replies, a warm undertone in his voice. "Do you need me to pick up anything from the store before you come back home?"
You think for a moment and then smile. "Actually, could you grab some snacks for later? You know, our usuals."
"Consider it done," he says with a hint of amusement in his voice. "Anything else?"
"No, that should be it. Thanks, love," you say, feeling grateful for his thoughtfulness. "Just get yourself home safely."
"I will," he promises. "I miss you."
Your heart swells at his simple admission. "I miss you too," you reply softly. "I'll see you soon."
As you hang up, your thoughts wander to the unique dynamic of your relationship with In-ho. You know that most people would probably find having a clingy, overprotective boyfriend suffocating or annoying. They might complain about the constant check-ins or the way he always wants to know you're safe. But for you, it's different. His attentiveness and concern are like a warm blanket on a cold night—they wrap you in a sense of comfort and security that you've come to cherish deeply.
You love how every call, every message from him is a small reminder that you are loved and valued. In a world that often feels chaotic and unpredictable, his protective nature provides a reassuring constant. In-ho has a way of making you feel like you are the most important person in his world, and it's a feeling you wouldn't trade for anything.
Your mind drifts back to a conversation you had with him not long ago. He had confessed that he had never been this way with anyone before. "I've never felt the need to be so protective," he had admitted, his voice soft but sincere. "But with you, I just want to make sure you're always okay."
His words had struck a chord deep within you. Knowing that his behavior wasn't a default setting but something unique to your relationship made you appreciate it even more. It was as if you had unlocked a part of him that had remained hidden until you came into his life.
Rejoining your friends, you can't help but smile, the warmth of In-ho's recent call lingering like a tender embrace. The noise and laughter around you feel a bit more vibrant, the evening a bit more enjoyable, all because of the love and devotion you know is waiting for you at home.
