I just started a rewatch of xfiles from the very beginning and goddamn has making shows changed. They just dont make them as fun and well lit and needlessly SEXY as they did in the 90/s.

Hot take: I like the bee scene and the only thing I would change about it is that I would have the bee sting Mulder instead.

thank goodness they didn't do monsters because when they did, even in late seasons, it would have been much better to keep it offscreen

so they used cg to fill with these columns of bees to give some movement to the shots

Before i watched fight the future i saw some spoilers, just vague things like “hallway scene” and “Antarctica” and “that fucking bee” I said to myself “surely, SURELY, its not that deep.” IT IS THAT DEEP. I rented this movie and i watched it over two days, and it lived rent free in my head forever. If my friends ever ask why I’m so into the xfiles (because im totally normal about my interests all the time) I show them the hallway scene. When it ended one if my friends goes “why do I feel like I just watched them have sex?” BECAUSE THEY BASICALLY DID, THEY EMOTIONALLY HAD SEX. That’s a canonical kiss to me because they totally would’ve if not for an outside intervention. Also also also the Antarctica escape scene. I am a SUCKER for the night in shining armor trope and the way she said something like “gotcha” after he gave her cpr sent me

So yeah, it is that deep and I will probably be buying that movie so i can watch it whenever i want cuz pirating websites are sucky

i’m so enraptured by all these almost kisses in xfiles going from the movie to early season 6…….the ftf kiss foiled by the bee sting, the ftf kiss bloopers (plural because there were TWO of them), the kiss in triangle between mulder and 1939 scully, scully in dreamland telling mulder “i’d kiss you if you weren’t so damn ugly.” there’s a spectral, haunting quality to these almost kisses. whenever mulder and scully interact, the awareness of these kisses is there — it colors how i read the scene, and (apart from the blooper kisses) it affects the way they behave around each other. the repetition of these almost kisses makes the prospect of an actual kiss seem paradoxically both impossible and inevitable. the strange liminal nature of these kisses somehow feels apt for mulder and scully’s relationship.

okay so I've been seriously considering participating in febuwhump for royai (because whump = royai, obv, and I've been itching to write some angst/hurt/comfort), and earlier I was screaming over the prompts because they're so royai. Also, there's one for bees (day 9), which I can totally do a scene inspired by the bee scene in xfiles (*cackles, screams, jumps for joy*), as I will never shut up about how royai and mulder/scully are coded the same.

anyway, I was freaking out about this to my husband, who has to Deal With All My Shit (™), and I was reading him the list of prompts and at day 16 (came back wrong), he goes, "'Came back wrong'? That's so fullmetal alchemist." And I was like "right?????"

The prompts are so good - "suffering in silence"? "Killing in self defense"?? "Blood stained tiles"??? "You weren't meant to be there"???? "Not allowed to die"????? Like, royai, hello??????? *flails* I'm thinking I'll likely do drabbles, between a few hundred words to max 1k, just to keep it concise and not burn out (especially because I'm hoping to do the royai big bang as well - and I'm planning to have all the prompts done for febuwhump finished before the end of january, so it won't overlap). If I did my usual 5-7k words for each day, I'd die lmao. Some self-preservation is needed.

btw the guy who pays mulder was in two things i watched w my dad recently (zoolander and. actually i have no idea what the other was sorry) and he pointed it out and i thought of u immediately yr my xfiles guy...

oh my goddddddd yeah literally mr david duchovny……………. fox mulder my all time best friend in my heart actjally!!!!!!!! doesn’t zoolander also have ben stiller in it or am i thinking of another movie……………i actually don’t think i’ve seen mr fox mulder in anything else tee bee aych… he is from the x files to me!!!!!
