The Wives

who are the wives and why do i keep hearing about them??? fear not, i am here to answer that burning question.

the wives consist of myself, @gilbirda, @herbatahleb, and @precarious-hermit--or Kate, Gil, Hleb, and Mellan as we're knowing in the Batpham Discord Server. it started as a joke, but in the throws of the finals haze, i decide i wanted to get married to my wives in the sims. then, when Mellan was having a bad day i jokingly sent her a snippet of a self-insert fic with the wives in it.

it quickly spiraled and now we're here.

there's a fic now. i don't know how we got here but, here we are.

The Family

the last names Persephone and Hadeson. we were talking about what Greek God everyone in the server would be, and i got Hades because i pretty much snatched Mellan up when i heard she liked Charmed (1998). her being Persephone has nothing to do with the fact that she apparently ate a poisonous flower as a child and lived, but it checks out.

David Hadeson. David is actually my cat who tends to walk all over my keyboard, thus becoming something of a legend in the server. when we made ourselves in the sims we gave him a human-sona, and when planning the fic decided he should be a meta.

Valdislaus Straud. i moved us into the spookiest mansion in the sims and it just so happened to be Vladdy Daddy's house. at first, we were going to kill him, but eventually decided he could be our butler. we decided he should be a talon instead of a vampire in the fic though. it just felt right.

Robin Carson. this may be the weirdest one, and i'm aware how that sounds. but, after much cursed Danny Phantom/Lightning McQueen shenanigans ensued which i will admit i am ground zero for that one but i promise it was an accident Hleb wanted to watch "Batwheels" really bad. of course, who am i to deny my wife, so i streamed it, and she proclaimed Redbird (aka Robin's car) was her son. so we gave him a human-sona too. we decided he was a mini-carjacker before Hleb adopted him.

so, that's a bit of the Wives Lore. let me know if you have comments or questions, but believe me we already know you're concerned. we are too.

Shen Yuan rewrote PIDW ridiculously well with beautiful prose and detailed characterization and well crafted plot arcs as a fanfiction just to prove that it could be well written and Airplane is obviously just a sellout hack who couldn’t write himself out of a paper bag and obviously Shen Yuan only did it to prove a point because he’s petty like that and he absolutely does not and never will love the story enough to write 999k+ words about it at all no sir no how no way HE’S JUST PETTY DAMMIT!!

The Wives Lore Update???

hello, hello. if you've been around the dpxdc space, and have found yourself wondering, "who in the actual fuck are the wives?? and why do they have a fic??? and art????" you've come to the right place. check out my first post for a more in-depth explanation, because this is more of a follow-up and announcement.

THE WIVES HAVE A HUSBAND! I REPEAT, THE WIVES HAVE A HUSBAND NOW.

long story short, @gummybearstastelikesadness took the side piece to husband pipeline and is now part of the polycule. reminder that "The Wives" is the polycule ship name, and our loving husband should only be addressed as a husband.

and for those of you who like easter eggs, there'll be a bit of lore below the cut.

Sadness actually goes by Salem Aster Doxely (S.A.D.) in the fic because we thought just Sadness would take the reader out of the story. it took a while for us to get to that name, but other one's we threw around were Sadness Happiness and Des Sans (an anagram for Sadness).

recently the Sims 4 came out with a new life stage, Infants, and in that update we got the option to make a "Science Baby." of course we obviously took this as "Clone Baby" and i proceeded to add baby Katya to our household. She might or might not show up in the fic, we're on the fence about it.

i based the look of Bellflower Manor off of the house in Charmed, because i love that tv show. it's also the inspiration for a lot of the urban magic you'll see in the fic, along with Practical Magic.

two of the wives in the fic have connections to two different crime families, can you guess which wives?

all of The Wives love to bake and/or cook!

the Bellflowers in front of Bellflower Manor are actually a plant that grows in New Jersey! in Roman mythology they're actually associated with the Goddess Venus. In Victorian flower language white bellflowers represent gratitude, while the more traditionally pyramid shaped ones represent consistency, or staying committed to someone through a difficult time.

It is time to actually explain that one vague Sam and Max au! Calling it

Take me out Noir au

first off, you have to know, this au is essentially a hypothetical fanfic Sam and Max write together with their “totally not me” ocs. I feel like they’d be the kinda guys to write self fulfilling fanficfion (they’re terrible at it)

The gist is that it is a gritty noir detective drama starring Samantha and Maxine, their fem counterparts. It’s the same vibes as a noir detective pulp fiction novel in the 1950’s, so VIOLENCE!! DRAMA!! TENSION!!!

With a disheveled detective and her ex-partner turned performer/singer (with connections to the mafia..?), they often cross paths and usually end up fighting, reminiscing longingly, or a mixture of the both
