Hello hello hello, it has been a while since we last chatted but you are still my resident Witcher mutual and I know you have impeccable taste in fanfic - so I was wondering (if you wouldn't mind) if you could rec any fics about Jaskier's family? Kingdoms Come and Kingdoms Go, Rivers Run and Rivers Flow by @dancinglassie Rated T, 62k Jaskier's start in life was unfortunate, but sadly not unheard of. He was put in a sack, less than an hour old, and chucked in the river. For many in his position that would of been the end of it, but the Yaruga heard his cut off wail and swept him into her loving embrace. Less than an hour old and Jaskier had already died and been reborn as the newest child of Mama Yaruga.

Wicked Things (orphaned) Rated M, 101k  This is the story of how Jaskier helps to save the world. Jaskier is twenty when a rift opens and an army of Fae pour through it. Bloodthirsty and mindless, they sweep across the Continent, devastating human settlements and pushing them into smaller and smaller communities. Jaskier finds himself trapped in Lettenhove, having to deal with his father's gradual decline into madness and protecting his family and his village from the threats outside their walls. He meets a Faerie, trapped in a Faerie Ring; the rest, as they say, is history. (Jaskier’s family is there a lot, especially in the beginning, but heed the tags! There are a lot of other things going on here and a lot of them are horror-y.)

I've been obsessed with these two since the start of the pandemic, and they inspired me to start writing my own fic, so making a reclist has always been an idea in the back of my head. Plus, it's come to my attention that the tag can get crowded sometimes, so, Laiden fans, this one's for you.

The fics chosen for this reclist are only ones I have read. It is by no means comprehensive, and definitely favors older fics, since that was when I was deepest in the fandom.

2022 Year in Review

I feel like 2022 ended up being a really busy year for me! This was the first year of this blog being a general fandom blog rather than just a meme blog.

January: Started the month off by announcing that I was moving away from just being a texts from last night blog and I commissioned this piece from @chocobascas after a conversation with my beta. I finished my first multlichapter fanfic, All the Things Yet to Come.

February: Started publishing my Encanto/Poto AU which. Um. Oops. I might eventually rewrite what I have written of it because I was never happy with the pacing. Held the first annual Queer Week, which started on February 25. Published the oneshots Old Friends, When Will the Blood Begin to Race, Loneliness, and Fear Can Turn to Love as part of the event.

March: Queer Week continued, and I published the oneshots Quiet Hours, A New Life, and Healing. I wrote a smut reclist. I also wrote a smut oneshot titled Sweet Music's Throne.

April: Wrote and published the oneshot Unspoken Secrets, which to this day is my most popular fic. Reached 420 followers on 4/20 😎.

May: Participated in the second annual Paris Commune Week, hosted by @paperandsong. Reposted Old Friends from Queer Week for the event and wrote a POTO/Les Mis crossover oneshot for the event, Hope.

June: A pretty quiet month, announced the first annual Fluff Week.

July: Held the first annual Fluff Week. For the event, published my oneshots The Truth You Can't Hide, In Your Skin and Bone and Blood, I Found It, All on My Own, Grace in Your Heart and Flowers in Your Hair, Dark Stories of the North, and Hellfire.

August: Published the one shot Before We Get Too Old, which was a one shot I had started for fluff week and then it veered too much into angst.

September: Wrote the oneshot Preparation for Mortality for Crack Week. Behind the scenes, I started writing my next longfic at the beginning of this month.

October: Began publishing Offer Up Your Daughters, a Carmilla Webseries-inspired AU with a female Erik. Also published several POTO oneshots for various month-long events. The ones I published were The Ones She Had Lost and the Ones She Had Found, A Gift, The Saints Can't Help Me Now, All This Devotion (which actually got archived by the Whumptober account), No Way Out, and Begin Again. I didn't publicize it on this blog, but I also published my first oneshots outside the POTO fandom this month. For Stranger Things, I published Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight. For The Witcher, I published Undo This Storm. For the MCU, I published Night Terror. And for Star Wars, I published Hiding, Breaking Out, Stargazing, and The Third Option.

November: Very quiet, just continued posting chapters of Offer Up Your Daughters.

December: Accidentally went viral, -100/10 would not recommend. Published Merry Crimes for Christmas, which is a Christmas-themed oneshot from the Offer Up Your Daughters universe. Finished Offer Up your Daughters! Started work on separating old oneshots out instead of keeping them all in multichapter oneshot collections. Announced the second annual Queer Week to be held again from February 25-March 3.

What to expect in 2023: The sequel to Offer Up Your Daughters will start being posted January 16. The third and final installment will also be published this year. I will also hold Fluff Week again. Other than that, we'll see!

Non vi rovino il finale, ma assolutamente vale la pena di buttarci energie (anche se rallenta dopo un inizio più accattivante).

When the Butcher of Blaviken walks into his hideout, he's convinced he's found the perfect candidate - and a convenient way to get rid of the pesky bard that's been singing his praises. Jaskier is forced to agree witchers are not human, but that doesn't mean they're dangerous. In fact, he's astounded by how many of Geralt's uncontrolled impulses involve touching.

To Geralt’s credit, he waits until they’re well away from Kaer Morhen to ask the question. He also waits until Yennefer and Ciri have gone to bed, which makes the whole thing feel a bit too calculated for Jaskier’s liking, which is to say that he doesn’t like it at all. “Where’s your lute, Jaskier?” Jaskier doesn’t quite flinch, though his heart does something of the sort all on its own. It is very much a wound that hasn’t healed; as is most of him, these days.

Anway, @moongoddesskiana asked for fics with Jaskier and the Kaer Morons! The brilliant @penandinkprincess recced the first three, all of which are amazing. Then I attempted to filter through my bookmarks and found the rest! Some have more Jaskier and some have more Kaer Morons, but all have at least some of both. Hi! I was wondering if you could make a part two for Kaer Morons fic recs, you don't have to and fell free to ignore this if your busy with other things or just don't wanna do it. Ahh, hello!! I'm so happy you liked my last reclist! I've actually thought about doing a part two of this because I encountered several excellent ones since making that last post, so I spent the morning trawling through my bookmarks and here we go!

A few of these might also be on my other reclists, but they're good and they fit the criteria so I'm mentioning them again! By coincidence, all fics on this list were written before season 2 and thus don't take that canon into account. As always, y'all are more than welcome to chime in with your own recs. Behold the wonderful work of my absolutely amazingly brilliant secret Santa!! Geralt invites Jaskier home to Kaer Morhen for the first time and it’s the sweetest thing ever.

The Path Not Taken by sopses (Rated M, 40k, endgame Geraskier with minor Jaskier/Lambert)

This one was recommended to me in the notes of my last reclist, and it’s really good! After the dragon hunt, Jaskier saves the life of an injured Eskel. It all just sort of escalates from there.

Two wolves, a cat and a bard walk into a tavern by Beginte (Rated T, 6k, Geraskier and Lambden)

Jaskier and Geralt bump into Lambert and Aiden on the way to Kaer Morhen. Awkward meet-the-boyfriend ensues. This one never fails to make me grin — I’ve read it at least twice!

The Witchers’ Bard by operacricket (Rated T, 5k, Geraskier)

While taking care of a group of slavers, Lambert, Eskel, and Vesemir discover a bard in need of rescue. Excellent bard whump and hurt/comfort with a happy ending. Make sure to check the tags!

Jaskier’s family is cursed — every male-born child cannot be named, and anyone who tries to refer to them by the names they are given will have an allergic reaction. Only a soulmate speaking your true name aloud will break the curse. Jaskier is determined to break the curse, and what better way to do that than traveling with a witcher?

I Was Pledged to You, To You I Pledge Myself by anarchycox (Rated T, 9k, Geraskier)

When Jaskier is four, his daring escape from a family dinner and subsequent rescue by a witcher results in him becoming betrothed to someone called Geralt of Rivia. The plan is for them to marry when he’s twenty. Scenes from Jaskier's life of meeting every witcher but his betrothed, until one day in a shitty tavern, he finally meets Geralt.

Sing Me a Song by Arvari (Rated T, 2k, Geraskier and Lambden)

Aiden isn’t dead, but Lambert doesn’t know that. To remedy this, Aiden seeks out Jaskier (who is away from Geralt after the Mountain) to sing a song and let Lambert know he’s alive. Technically, Aiden isn’t a Kaer Moron, but this is just too hilarious not to mention!

Jaskier and Mountains Just Don't Mix by C4t1l1n4 (Rated G, 4k, Geraskier)

Despite the other Witchers' positive reaction to Geralt's bard, Vesemir is reluctant to have a human stay with them at Kaer Morhen so Jaskier attempts to leave and ends up almost freezing to death on the side of the mountain. Excellent hurt/comfort with a happy ending!

Return to Cidaris by pinksugartales (Rated M, 34k, Jaskier/Valdo Marx transitioning into Geraskier)

A modern AU. Valdo returns to his hometown for the first time in years, inadvertently reconnecting with his first love. Jaskier follows his fiancé a week later and finds himself the obstacle to their Christmas love story. At least the man he meets in the little town’s bakery is there to offer him support. Wonderfully depicted relationships. The Kaer Morons aren’t the focus, but their presence is absolutely wonderful!

Another one from the notes of my previous reclist! I haven’t read this one, but have been assured that it’s very good. Jaskier goes to Kaer Morhen and there is both fluff and angst.
