hey do you guys ever think about how Elhokar stopped seeing cryptics after Kaladin became the captain of his guard. He'd been seeing them out of the corner of his eye, in the mirror, everywhere, much like Shallan did before/ in the early stages of bonding Pattern. And then they stopped. Kaladin becomes the captain of the guard, Renarin bonds Glys, who is hiding, Dalinar talks with the Stormfather, Shallan has Pattern hidden in embroidery of her dress in literally every conversation with other people, and the cryptics stop appearing to Elhokar. Did the cryptics see an Honorspren and panic and stop? Did Dalinar curb-stomping Elhokar make them leave; truth and lies and Elhokar trying to be a king as now defined by someone else but now a different person? Trying to live the same lie in a different way? How often did he say that Truth that would have been the first Truth but no spren heard? Did he start to think about the shapes of those shadows that had haunted him when he saw Pattern? When did he start seeing those shapes again? Did he feel like he was able to say the immortal words? Do you think he tried to say them at some point? Do you think he decided to let himself be at that last moment before the spear and the pain and the blood on the marble?

Okay omg I feel the need to say that the Derap lie about Zams spawn house is really only a half lie.
On bacons big spawn build context day Derap went live on his alt(which means there’s no evidence of this anymore :/), and has moping around spawn because he missed Zam alot and went into his house and realized the villager part was still completely destroyed. And he got genuinely upset that Bacon and co had neglected to repair it.
So that’s the context, as far as claiming that bacon said that “it was Zam’s job to repair it” I have no clue where he got that from, but this also might have been when the end crystal was in Zam’s house so that didn’t help Deraps view of the spawn rebuild team.

companion shri’iia au and you meet her in the blighted village where a couple of goblins are cowering around her, at first she’s wary at the group’s arrival but when the bluetooth worm connection happens and player character is like oh you’re tadpoled like us she’s like yes true… and when you ask her about how did she get here she will say the goblins took her here, mentions something about an absolute etc. you ask her who she is she’s like im shri’iia, an adventurer 🙂. if you ask her if she’s good at fighting she’s like yes im a paladin after all 🙂 and you can recruit her bc she agrees that getting rid of the tadpole is the priority and the odds are better if u stick together. alternatively if you point out that it’s strange to see a drow in the surface she’s gonna be like the same way it is strange we have worms in our heads no?
but if you walk around one of the damaged houses there’s gonna be an opened discarded book that regales the tales of this paladin adventurer and she basically mimicked what was written when she was introducing herself. if you point it out to her later she’ll be like oh that’s a fun coincidence ☺️ and leave it at that

so, the desire thing and confession... IF they do the whole confession scene right, I can absolutely see hot priest asking for specifics on what eddie and kim actually did, like confession isn't therapy, a priest when actually focused on helping you through confession will ask and will pry until you can actually name "the sin" that's causing you to need confession... so I do see a possibility of the priest digging deep enough until eddie gets to the root of the whole situation
#AND WE CAN FINALLY GET HIM OUT#eddie diaz#911 abc#911 spoilers#like he said priests listen to so many fucked up things in confession they actually have the range to imagine several situations#like i'm betting when he said that chris found him with his dead wife the priest probably thought that 1 he killed her#2 he was like fucking his corpse or even 3 that he did something to try and summon the dead or something like that#i really want this scene to be done correctly in terms of this being a channel for eddie to finally face the truth#like you can literally tell a priest anything you want in confession they shouldn't react they wouldn't share it with someone else#and they really are nosy so they probable want the full gossip knowing you'll probably never go back and they won't see you again#this is coming from a practicing catholic if you couldn't tell#i don't think the priest will pry on the whole 'i lied to my best friend' thing unless eddie mentions more about buck#but i do see a different way of this helping eddie face the situations in a more direct way than say therapy

isn't lying to one's parents something most teenagers do? why do i feel like literal satan whenever i do it
#melonposting#i haven't told them about the thing on friday. it's not like i've been actively keeping it from them or anything#but i don't really have the natural tendency to tell them about such things even if they probably should know#because i deem it personal#and especially since it's too late for them to get tickets...!#i should tell them. i'm gonna email them. but i feel bad for not having told them before. it's a lie of omission or whatever#as it is i've admitted to my dad that i've lied to him several times because i'm worried he'd get angry at me for the truth#and that frustrated him. he said now he doesn't know whether to trust me whenever i say i've done something he's asked me to#(because that's what the lies are about)#which is fair enough i suppose#it's sort of disheartening though. i don't like the fact that i lie to him so much and i don't like the fact that it frustrates him#and yeah it's good i've eventually come around and owned up. that's better than keeping it up forever. but still#sighhh. he's gonna ask why i didn't tell him before about the thing on friday but i won't really know what to say#'i forgot' is true but not the whole truth#it's always the path of least resistance...#i always try to tell him whatever would generate the fewest questions i deem stressful or intrusive#which includes not telling him anything sometimes#i have a bad track record of being incapable of answering many personal questions. ask my dear friend max from high school#sighhhhh. sorry to my parents and sorry to max from high school#yesterday i lied to one of the showrunners of the performance just because the truth would generate a conversation i didn't want to have#sorry to kai as well then. i guess

The theme of episode 6 really floored me. How long can a secret remain a secret before it becomes a lie? (Spoilers incoming!) Woo-hak had previously been just as confused as Mok-ha, and possibly more than her, so any theory of his being Ki-ho wasn't a lie, simply a mistake. Bogeol, on the other hand, knew the truth all along and kept it under wraps because it was a secret. He hadn't had to lie and say he wasn't Ki-ho because no one was asking. Mok-ha asking questions and Woo-hak learning the truth in episode 6 makes liars out of them all — he tells Mok-ha that Ki-ho is married (a lie) and Ms. Song tells Mok-ha to be a hairdresser instead of a singer (lying about her intentions).
And yet these lies are somewhat justified in that they're being told for the safety of Mok-ha and the family. But how long can these innocent lies remain innocent, spoken under the intention of keeping a secret, before they become unforgivable? I'd say that Mok-ha deserves to know the truth, especially now that it's not just a matter of knowing, but that her career and future could be actively shaped by Ms. Song's advice.

REALLY ACTIVELY WANTS YOU TO TURN INTO ONE.#and the only reason he doesn't do it directly is bc [insert weird excuse from larian here]#all of his shit just falls so flat#they wanted him to be an antagonist without him actually hindering the player at all whatsoever#i said this in rat thing's replies yesterday but him joining the brain does make sense#bc he's very pro-mindflayer just anti-him-not-being-in-control#and more than being free he wants to survive#like if he's got this many memories of being balduran he'd be ostracized by other mindflayers if not outright killed#so while under control of the brain the first time he'd have to keep things under lock and key#god nothing pisses me off more than a half-realized character in media i like

Theory with no coherent proof on my part: brenner only visibly ages rapidly when a portal is open.
#brenner 'dies' very early on after rhe portal opens in s1 so we dont see the effects#but in s4 he looks considerably older.#then in s5 he apparently has a whole bald cap - portal that opened at the end of s4 has been open for approx 1.5 years#theres the tie in to the ptsd/trauma metaphor with the UD representing repressed memories#or repressed memories aka 'lost time' in someone memory#the whole thing where ppl with traumatic childhoods cant remember their childhoods very well and it comes back sooner or later#i wonder if there is a supernatural tie into that in st? like when a portal opens to the UD all that 'lost time' suddenly is allowed back#into the light aka out of the subconscious and into the conscious re flashbacks and memory retrieval#i dont believe NINA at all beyond the flashbacks el has before brenner got involved#bc it seems to me that brenner possibly took advtg of els vulnerable state to possibly manipulate her memory retrieval#which irl has been a long time point of controversy which is psychologists convinving patients that they have memories of trauma#they dont actually have. which idk how valid that is but brenner is a psychologist so if anyone he could find a way#also when the 'lost time' comes back to the surface brenner ages bc of those time loops begin to unravel. the real years brenner has lived#take its toll rather than him de aging as time loops back again to the beginning#very dr who of him. or at least every time he dies its another time loop thats created except from our perspective as the audience we#wouldnt know. because we are only watching from a set linear timeline (1983-1986) and we dont see the time line resetting itself#since all the timelines are similar enough with only small differences ('easter eggs')#tying this into the wheelers- their name literally means 'creator/operator of wheels' aka time loops. so are they The Source?#with the subtext surrounding 'truths' and 'lies' in ST i dont necessarily believe all timeloops are created equal#one must be the 'true' timeline while the others must be 'lies'. aka lonnie saying how people sometimes make things up 'to cope'#that and the heavy subtext behind hawkins being a cursed town. not necessarily anywhere else in the US#and how you can only open portals in hawkins per alexei#makes me thinks these arent legitimate timeloops. like time isnt physically looping back and rerunning events bc otherwise it wouldnt only#affect one small town in indiana. also we dont see the UD/the MF be able to affect time itself but rather ppls perception of time aka#mind control and memories. meaning that could it be time isnt actually looping but rather everyone in hawkins has their memories wiped and#recreated every time there is an inciting incident (which is unknown)#^this doesnt really explain how brenner is able to revive every time he dies unless brenner is actually an admin of this system and lives#'outside' the time loop. so. brenner is a video game character actually whos actual player is blissfully safe from harm outside of the the#computer screen#isnt this just the plot of the matrix. with 'the source' (the central computing core aka the wheelers?) and keymakers etc etc

i like the idea that shri'iia's persona starts to drop after her oath breaks. at the start she's very agreeableand very polite, the image of a virtuous paladin albeit rather recluse. she's easy to get along with because she seems to agree with everything you say and do. barely the argumentative type, and will agree with you if you want to use the tadpoles or not and if you want to save the tieflings or not. and if you ask her about herself, she will reply with something vague and redirect the conversation to talk about yourself instead. i think shri'iia is very charismatic that it just oozes out of her. even though she's being vague about her own self it never comes off that way, you know? you'd think she's being the ooh so mysterious 😏 type. you'd think she's being a tease about it but she's not lol she doesn't want to talk about herself and she's trying to fish more info out of you.
anyway, after her oath breaks - she doesn't tell anyone about it btw - she starts being more recluse, and her temper is short and she's more snippy. that image of the easy going, pleasant paladin starts to fall apart. you try to joke with her, or you ask her about something, she's quick to turn you down and walk away. she doesn't want to talk to you, clearly. you ask her what's wrong and she will give an excuse about how they're wasting time visiting random places when they could be looking for a cure. you try to contest that, she drops the argument. she's more antsy too - more jumpy and alert, she has a white knuckled grip on her halberd and if you look at her in private she seems to be distracted by something. and as the days go on, the persona that she wore starts to shed until she reaches her breaking point! you come across that abandoned lolth shrine down in the underdark and she! gets spider nuked!
#latter half of act 1 (basically my marker is after the druid/tiefling conflict since that's the big quest there) is The Worst for shri'iia#and it gets terrible before it starts getting better.#more so because she’s digging a deeper grave for herself the whole time lmfao#and im thinking she nearly died after the spider nuke. after that whole thing she has to fess up bc how do u explain all that lmfao#and it's sooo bad for her after they know the truth bc she knows she broke their trust and lied to them#and the punishment for a caught lie is death <- also person who enacted said punishments. so it's terrible!!!! for her!!!!!!!! not to#mention she's STILL in denial about breaking her oath. losing her faith to lolth. the fact that lolth was willing to grant her that#catharsis of punishment means that she's still acknowledging her. so there's a chance to return right??? she still wants me right???#like at that point shri'iia would rather lolth try to kill her again bc that means that her goddess still acknowledges her existence. she#can't take being ignored there's nothing shri'iia hates more than feeling like she's lacking in anything. she's too insecure about her own#self and then she has the tendency to double down and over compensate to make up for it.#so cue her trying so hard to please lolth and try to regain her attention again she sullies the altar for eilistraee it's a bit sad to see#shut up about bg3.

i don’t like confrontation so when i find out things that people don’t want me to know about or think i won’t find out about no matter how hurt or stressed it makes me i will never talk to them about it ever.

( There’s two things about s7 - with what I know of what happens there, anyways - that lives in my head rent free, and that’s dark mage!Callum and Aaravos’s whole “I never lie” thing, especially in context of how he tells half truths. And how he says Sol Regum killed his daughter, but like, words wise. Because yes, he did (if indirectly). I wonder if it’s after the revelation he had from Terry calling him out, if he’d still say “he killed my daughter” instead of something like “he caused my daughter’s death”. )
