Uuugghgggh. Idk why but nothing feels right lately.

On one hand, the enstars fixation died down A LOT. Great for my bank account tbh, i don't wanna spend another cent on gacha games. My brain is free🎉🎉🎉

And rather than feeling this pressure of "omg i must grind new events and get new cards" or "omg there are so many event stories i missed out on" or "i must grind every single new song on all difficulty levels for dia" i just. Don't do that anymore lol. I actually just play the songs whenever i actually feel like playing any and i read only the stories that actually interest me. Which definitely aren't a lot tbh. (still waiting on that knights climax tl) but yeah i'm basically reading 0 stuff from engstars.

So if you wanna break free from a gacha game sucking your soul, I think the reason why the enstars fixation died down so much for me is a combination of

burning myself out trying to get cards

getting bluetooth headphones (which basically make it impossible to play the game with headphones)

turning the BP game notification off

Engstars TLs getting worse than fan TLs

Obviously i still have basic but since i can't read japanese, i can't stress myself over reading new stories because i can't read anything at all. Yaaaay. I have evolved into a casual player.

Now. On the other hand. The new fixation. My beloved wizards. Mahoyaku.

I'm gonna be so honest, i kinda hate it here.

Don't get me wrong, i love the game, i love the story, i love the characters. But the fans. The fans man.

Like with enstars fandom, i started out with tumblr, and sure, i had to occasionally block some people and filter out some stuff, but that was it. That was enough for me to be able to chill and actually be comfortable in the enstars fandom space on tumblr.

Now, there are basically no mhyk fans on tumblr. Ok fine. Guess i'll go on twitter instead. So i made a twt account.

I truly cannot explain to you how much i should not have done that.

Like, ok, LOTS MORE fanart which is great. Fantastic. Lovely. However, a lot of proshippers. Many many proshippers. Like i do not have that much experience in fandom spaces in the first place but i swear the amount of proshippers is disproportionately large in mhyk fandom, on twt at least.

I think it's obvious from my blog here alone how much i like northfam, especially Snow and White. To be so honest, Snow and White were the biggest hesitation for me to NOT get into mhyk because we all know the "child looking character is actually over 2000 y.o." is NEVER handled well in fiction. Well, i ended up reading mhyk anyways, and to my relief, s&w's child forms do not get sexualized ever. Thank god.

But like mentioned before, this is not the case for the fandom. Not only do i always end up finding people shipping s&w together, but also many other of my faves, like oz and arthur (foster father and son) or mitile and figaro (student and teacher). Which i do not want to see ever, and the thing with twt is, you can't tag and filter stuff like on here. And even after being on twt for...idk how many months, i STILL end up seeing stuff i would like to stay 4869761093 lightyears away from.

I've been trying to do everything, from blocking to muting words to clicking the three dots on each individual post i don't want to see for the "please don't show me stuff like this". AND IT STILL HAPPENS.

Idk man...as a csa survivor myself it feels so hopeless...like is it really worth it here if i'll just keep finding stuff that triggers me? Is it worth meeting new people and constantly being on edge if this new fan thinks being proship is ok?

I really did like making fanart for fandom purposes, it made me draw a lot more, but between my dying interest in enstars and mhyk fandom thinking the stuff that has and will put me in therapy for decades is hot. I don't feel like interacting with fandom that much anymore ngl....and that makes me genuinely sad. Idk maybe this is a depressive episode that will go away but i feel so tired for now....hobbies are supposed to be fun....

I feel because of Jinx and Viktor’s popularity in fandom (having some of the most annoying fans in Arcane fandom) and the attention they receive in the show itself, people forget/don’t realise how bad they were done by the writers in s2

oooh I don't think I've really talked about I Claudius here

I enjoy it a lot! its pretty stripped down compared to the big epic productions set in Rome, and it's 1000% to it's favor. kind of like how artists will do limited palettes to push their boundaries, or stage productions allow you to escalate the character in ways you don't get to experience in other mediums. all of that pushes the show into a space where the spectacle of interpersonal drama really thrives and shines

also I like the aspect ratio it was filmed in! I think it adds a visual tightness that exemplifies how the character narratives interlock with each other, especially since the whole thing is like watching a cascading crash of dynastic dominoes.

Movies, shows, and books really made it clear how society picks sides when there’s a problem.

Ginny and Georgia where BOTH of those two characters are misunderstood and traumatized but people only think Team Georgia or Team Ginny(not so many of those).

Bridgerton when Penelope and Eloise had their conflict. I thought it was common sense that they are both understandable?? But then I open up TikTok and everyone’s hating on one or the other.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians during the Rachel vs Annabeth discourse when neither of them did anything wrong.

Even the Inside Out movie where the whole point is that Sadness is needed for Joy to be felt and people are out here just hating Sadness or hating Joy. Little kid me was like did you guys watch the movie with your eyes closed or???

Amy and Jo both being two sides of the same coin but people had to make it a debate whether Amy or Jo is right? That one actually makes me so mad Amy deserves so much better than the hate she got for being a kid.

As a little kid I was so confused on why everyone picked sides for everything and now when I’m older I’m just as confused but now I understand how much people think in black and white.

i don't care that much about this serie to be discussing, but i gonna say,........., this season 2 is a little bit weird lets be real(and will be and will end weird probably), but, but, it's not because of the themes or the things that happen, the things that add and the stories are interesting, but the way it's handled, idk, in season 1 every action had a consequence, I would say its losing it's.....humanity(yeah, that's the word, i mean i hate this fiction=reality thing, but season 1 it was very real and human the way the characters handled things)

this season 2 is being less human to me cuz characters pass by things even WORSE than season 1 and the way they handle it's like....okay, meanwhile season 1 the most little thing was enough to make characters lose themselves or reflect(just like us humans, if you see someone talking badly about you, you get sad or get angry, that gets stuck with you for a bit, if that person is your friend you question It, you remember it), it's looking like a Cartoon( cartoons that are usually like that, in cartoons characters handle things in a very vague and fast way, cuz well it's a Cartoon, first cuz it's a fiction so things are not handled in a very real way, and second cuz of the story cuz you don't have time to show that), but here's the thing, cartoons shows that in a visual way, with gestures and stuff, but i feel not even that this season 2 do much, I mean has cuz exist the subble messages/expressions, but it not totally sure by fact, you just can assume the character is acting this and that cuz of that

so I've been watching Bluey and I'm on episode 37/52 in series 1 so I feel like I've seen enough of it to have genuine thoughts (I skimmed the wikipedia page too)

the reason I started watching it was because of its reputation among millennials with kids who have been swearing up and down that it's basically free therapy for our age group. I'm definitely in the market to having my brain chemistry altered but after 37 episodes, I don't know that I'm there yet. there is still a lot of show left to go though, and some of the most-circulated clips I've seen on social media have been in episodes I haven't come across yet, so that is subject to change.

what I CAN say is that Bluey is objectively a very good tv show that 100% deserves its Peabody award. it's thoughtful, fun, and honestly funnier than it has any right to be. I've laughed out loud more than once. Joe Brumm made the show with the intention of it being entertaining for both kids and parents and he absolutely nailed that balance, I think. in that way, it's not a kid show; it's a family show. and I like that (and I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it works!).

I haven't been a kid for a long time so it's hard for me to put myself in the shoes of a child, especially in a world that is so drastically different from mine. I think this is the first kid show I've seen that prominently features things like smartphones. I know those shows exist--the new Blue's Clues is a good example of how things have been updated to suit modern audiences--but it's something that caught my eye as an Old Fart (in internet years). Not as a bad or good thing, just as a "wow I'm getting older and it's getting harder to relate to or even understand childhood" kind of way. Maybe that's why people want to be parents so badly. To reconnect with that. I can sympathize with that feeling.

the show focuses a lot on Bluey and her sister and friends navigating the world through imaginative play, which I love and has a solid backing in child developmental psychology. I actually just started learning a little bit about play therapy (I follow a play therapist on tiktok who kinda got me into it, I love her), so I feel like I've been getting a little bonus bit of enrichment out of the show for that. it's like when you're watching a movie that's partly in another language and you don't speak the language but you recognize it and can maybe pick out a couple words? it's like that.

I think Brumm really captured lightning in a bottle with this project. you can feel the love it's made with. the storylines are grounded with just the right touch of an almost magical or fantastical quality that really makes you feel childlike wonder even as a cynical and deeply depressed 30-something. There's conflict and mess, sure, but built on a foundation of safety and community, and I think that's probably what's resonating with (american) millennials. we inherited so much instability and pain from our previous generations that it's hard to believe a world or even a family unit like Bluey's could exist. parents who love each other? who are active in their children's lives? who apologize when they do something wrong? COULDN'T BE US!

all this to say I'm enjoying the show, it's heartwarming, it's charming, it's delightful, and I hope Joe Brumm lives forever. but it's also very much designed for children so like. I worry the millennial parents crying over this show on tiktok may be overselling it.
