Day 11.- Graveyard Dare (I forgot to add the "dare" part)
Jim Bussey (The waterman, 2020) x Gn!reader
Once, when he was younger, Jim remembered that he used to work in a cemetery as a night guard.
It was just one more story he had accumulated while working during his active years.
His heavy body plopped down in the comfortable armchair, with a batch of biscuits in the oven, and now his only job was to wait, while he looked through his books and put on a vinyl with some classic song he didn't really know by heart, which sent him on a trip down memory lane.
It was about three and maybe a quarter decades ago, when he still had no grey in his hair and no beard, just a neatly trimmed moustache.
He had a belt on which hung an expensive torch, which he had already been warned that if he broke it, the replacement would have to come out of his own pay. It was night, three or four in the morning, only a couple of hours more to hand over the keys to his replacement and punch his exit card, when the heat of the night made him leave his post to take a breath of the warm air of the cemetery, he wasn't afraid of them, but of course he believed in spirits and creatures.
Jim sat on the cold cemetery bench, the night enveloped him, but it was not completely dark, the moon was in the waning quarter phase, illuminating the gravestones, statues and flowers of the cemetery.
He looked up at the statue of an angel, its face serene in the hard stone, but he could swear that its skin would be so soft to his touch, the angel that always accompanied him when being locked in the small cabin became unbearable.
That angel, with its outstretched wings and compassionate gaze, seemed to be the only being who truly understood him. Jim felt drawn to it, as if in the solitude of the night it could share his burden.
"You know," Jim murmured, feeling vulnerable talking to the statue. "Sometimes I think you're the only one who really listens to me. In the dark, where everyone else is absent, you're here, always present, always listening to me."
He looked down, his hands trembling slightly. "It's easier to talk to you. You don't judge me. You always listen to me, no matter what."
He chuckled, remembering the taunts of his peers. "Sometimes, they call me crazy. They say I should stop wasting my time with fairy tales and spectres. But I know there is something beyond what we see. This place, with its history and its secrets, is full of life... even if it's a life that not everyone can see."
He moved a little closer, his eyes full of longing. "If only you could open those stone eyes and look at me. I tell you my secrets, my beliefs, and yet here you stand, unmoving."
His voice trembled as he spoke, as if each word carried a special weight. "Imagine if you could walk beside me, listen to my stories and share my fears. I promise I would never make you feel alone."
Jim leaned into the statue, feeling the cool night breeze caress his face. The moon, in its waning quarter phase, illuminated the cemetery with a soft, silvery light, creating dancing shadows among the gravestones and wilting flowers. Trees rustled in the distance, and the distant hoot of an owl broke the silence, reminding him that he was not entirely alone in the darkness.
Jim moved closer to the statue, his heart pounding in his chest. The moon illuminated his face, revealing the mixture of longing and sadness in his eyes. With each step, the world around her seemed to fade away, leaving only the silence of the cemetery and the presence of the angel.
His lips barely touched the surface of the stone, and in that instant, a flood of emotions swept over him. "I promise you, angel, that if you could come back to life, I would give you my soul. I don't need riches or fame, only your company."
The sound of the oven brought him out of his memories, the biscuits were ready.

huh…didn’t know that Joe apparently got her an opal ring. Apparently the speculation is that he got her two, very interesting.
Yeah, he did. Around 2020 and 2021. I don't think the 2 opal rings were engagement rings, cause I don't think they were engaged but who knows..

It is shocking how pretty and elegant these pieces were compared to what she is wearing now. Truly, money can't buy class!
Need to have a Joe in my life😭

Richard Fletcher named a 2023 Packard Fellow
New Post has been published on https://thedigitalinsider.com/richard-fletcher-named-a-2023-packard-fellow/
Richard Fletcher named a 2023 Packard Fellow
The David and Lucile Packard Foundation has announced that atomic physicist Richard Fletcher, assistant professor of physics and a researcher at MIT-Harvard Center for Ultracold Atoms (CUA) and the MIT Research Laboratory of Electronics (RLE), has been named a 2023 Packard Fellow for Science and Engineering. The Packard Foundation Fellowships are one of the most prestigious and well-funded nongovernmental awards for early-career scientists.
Fletcher is one of 20 innovative early-career scientists and engineers named to the 2023 class of Packard Fellows for Science and Engineering. Two MIT alumni were also named: Ritchie Chen SM ’13, PhD ’16 and Yang Yang PhD ’16, both now at the University of California at San Francisco. Each fellow receives $875,000 over five years to pursue their research.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be awarded a Packard Fellowship, and I’m very grateful to the foundation for their support of our work,” says Fletcher. “It’s quite inspiring to look down the list of alumni, and I hope that we will live up to the same high standards.”
Fletcher and his lab use precisely controlled gases of atoms at ultracold temperatures to create and study exciting types of quantum matter. He uses atomic vapors, which are a million times thinner than air and a million times colder than interstellar space, which in turn are manipulated by laser beams and magnetic fields, he says.
“In many systems in nature, the behavior of many particles is qualitatively different to the underlying single-particle physics,” he explains. “For example, superconductivity is the frictionless flow of electrical current, which occurs in many low-temperature materials, but you can’t understand it from the physics of a single electron. In turns out that in general, describing the emergence of macroscopic phenomena from microscopic ingredients is really hard once the rule book is quantum mechanical.
“We approach this problem by building little tailor-made quantum worlds, formed by very cold gases of atoms, a million times colder than deep space, controlled and manipulated by laser beams and magnetic fields. In particular, since these platforms are free from many of the constraints imposed by real materials, we can use them to create states of matter that nature has simply never allowed to exist before. And honestly, some of the time we just use these exquisite tools we’ve developed to simply play around and have fun in the lab, and see what surprises experiments throw our way. That’s what I love most about experimental science!”
A native of Chester, U.K., he earned his undergraduate degree in 2010 and his PhD in 2015 from Cambridge University, and in between those degrees he was a Frank Knox Fellow at Harvard University. His thesis focused on the interplay of superfluidity and Bose-Einstein condensation in two dimensions. In 2016, he arrived at MIT as a Pappalardo Fellow, working with Martin Zwierlein on quantum fluids in artificial magnetic fields, and joined the MIT faculty in 2020. In 2022 he was awarded the AFOSR Young Investigator Award.
Past Packard fellows have gone on to receive such honors as the Nobel Prize in chemistry and physics, the Fields Medal, Alan T. Waterman Awards, Breakthrough Prizes, Kavli Prizes, and elections to the national academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
Each year, the foundation invites 50 universities to nominate two faculty members for consideration. The Packard Fellowships Advisory Panel, a group of 12 internationally recognized scientists and engineers, evaluates the nominations and recommends fellows for approval by the Packard Foundation Board of Trustees. The Packard Foundation also continues to support fellows as they undertake a variety of self-directed initiatives to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM through additional targeted grants.

Gilgo Beach murders: Man charged over deaths of three women linked to unsolved serial killings featured on Netflix documentary | US News
A wealthy architect has been charged with murdering three women linked to the unsolved killings of 11 people, which was the subject of the Netflix film Lost Girls.Rex Heuermann, 59, was arrested as the prime suspect in the historical Gilgo Beach murders - in which human remains were found along a New York beach highway more than a decade ago.He is charged with the murder of Melissa Barthelemy, 24, Megan Waterman, 22, and Amber Costello, 27, whose remains were discovered during the search for another missing female in 2010.He pleaded not guilty to all three charges. 0:38 A man has been charged with murdering three women linked to the unsolved killings of 11 people. It is believed 11 individuals fell victim to the murders, many young female sex workers. Their remains were discovered in 2010 and 2011.The New York-based architect lives in Massapequa, a community in Long Island around 15 miles away from where the victim's remains were found.Detectives who tailed the suspect recovered DNA from a pizza crust he threw away, then matched it to a hair found on a restraint used in the killings, police said.Another key part of what led to his arrest was his car - a Chevrolet Avalanche - which a witness said the killer was driving after the disappearance of Ms Costello, according to NBC.

His "first-generation Chevrolet Avalanche" was also towed away from the scene, NBC reported. "Ladies and gentlemen, Rex Heuermann is a demon that walks among us - a predator that ruined families," Suffolk County police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said.Police also believed that the suspect was from Long Island because of a mobile phone tower ping - which came from Ms Barthelemy's phone after her death.A man who said he was the killer used the phone to call and taunt Ms Barthelemy's sister after she had disappeared in 2009.
Image: Selfies which appear to have been taken by Rex Heuermann. Pics: Suffolk County Court The individual allegedly claimed to have killed Ms Barthelemy, related details of her murder and made sexually explicit comments down the phone. It was previously reported that the same phone briefly pinged off a tower in the town of Massapequa - where Heuermann lives.
Image: Heuermann was seen on CCTV at a mobile phone shop in Manhattan on 19 May 2023. Pic: Suffolk County Court The Gilgo Beach investigation began after police launched a search for 24-year-old Shannan Gilbert following her disappearance in the coastal community of Oak Beach in 2010.The body of a different woman - Ms Barthelemy - was then discovered by a police dog and officer during the search. Within days, three other bodies were found, all within a short distance of one another. The victims included Ms Waterman, Ms Costello and Maureen Brainard-Barnes, 25.Several of the bodies were found in thickets along the sandy stretch of land.By 2011, police had discovered four additional sets of human remains, those of Jessica Taylor, Valerie Mack, 24, a female toddler and an unidentified Asian man.Ms Gilbert's remains were finally discovered in December 2011, 5km (3 miles) east of the other discoveries.
Image: (L-R) Shannan Gilbert, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Jessica Taylor and Valerie Mack. Pic: Suffolk County Police Police were left puzzled as to how the victims were killed, and in 2020, the unsolved murders became the subject of the Netflix film "Lost Girls".Heuermann's charges come after a task force, made up of the FBI, New York State Police and Suffolk County authorities was set up in February 2020 to "reinvigorate" the investigation. In May 2022, police released 911 audio related to Ms Gilbert's disappearance. She initially called police from inside the home of a client shortly before 5am."There is somebody after me," she told the dispatcher multiple times. "Somebody's after me - please," she said.On Friday morning, the district attorney said there had been a "significant development in the case" but declined to comment any further.Neighbours of Heuermann told NBC that the family "kept to themselves" and were "like loners".Patrica Maressa, 64, said Heuermann lived in the home with his wife, a son and a daughter. He worked at a Manhattan architecture firm and was a member of an NYC-based networking group known as The Dream Team, NBC reported. Source link Read the full article

How One Artist Maps the Weather One Stitch at a Time
Bettina Matzkuhn uses embroidery to document the world as it changes around her
Dramatic swirls of white thread bind rain-soaked clouds, bolts of blue and green trap intense winds, and atmospheric pressure fluctuates moodily on pearly-grey linen. Running stitches patiently over her hand-painted fabrics, Vancouver-based artist Bettina Matzkuhn brings a sense of stillness to something ever changing. Matzkuhn’s series Weathering includes a collection of shifting weather patterns and climate phenomena embroidered onto twelve vibrant textile pieces all shaped like butterflies; the resulting kaleidoscope of fabric is called Schmetterlinge, the German word for butterflies.

the significant jewellery masterpost
Tiffany & Co silver J necklace
First seen: visiting WW2 veteran, December 2016
As we all know, Taylor got this for her 27th and didn’t take it off for two whole years. It’s made appearances in songs, music videos, photoshoots and even custom rep tour cookies.
Recently seen: TGLAD spotify video, 2020
Jessie V E gold pisces constellation ring
Seen: reputation release party, November 2017
I actually think she got this for herself, mainly because she’s only been seen wearing it once and it surfaced at a really random time.
Zoe Lev sapphire eye ring
2017: vacation photos from the rep magazines
2018: performing at the Bluebird Cafe in March, hiking with Joe in March, IG story from April
We know it’s a personal item and since sapphires are the September birthstone, I think it’s pretty safe to assume that Joe gave it to her for their 1 year.
Patek Philippe watch
2018: rep tour glendale, Venice Film Festival
2019: hiking with Taylor, Harriet premiere afterparty
2020: San Sebastian International Film Festival
When we’re close to wrapping up our interview, Alwyn checks the time, revealing an elegant, small-faced Patek Philippe watch that’s been concealed under his left sleeve. A present to himself or from someone special, I can’t help but ask, hoping against hope that he will share that it was from Swift. “It was a present,” he says with a wicked grin. (via W Magazine)
Tiffany & Co ‘Diamonds by the Yard’ rose gold bracelet
2018: New Year’s Eve photos
2019: BAFTA afterparty candids, Entertainment Weekly photoshoot, iHeart Radio Awards
Since we first saw this in December, I’m leaning towards it being a 29th birthday gift
Tiffany & Co ‘Diamonds By the Yard’ gold necklace with pendant
2019: IG post from June, Nashville secret sessions, IG post by clairewinter
Tiffany & Co gold infinity bracelet
2020: folklore long pond sessions
2021: Grammy performance, BRIT Awards
I’m 100% sure this is from Joe, and she could’ve gotten it for her 30th, but we also first saw it in mid-2020 so honestly who knows.
Melinda Maria stacking opal ring
2020: cardigan music video, long pond sessions, Rolling Stone photoshoot with Paul McCartney, Jimmy Kimmel interview, Zane Lowe interview
Thoughts on the two opal rings (obviously this is just speculation and might not be true)
Cathy Waterman custom opal ring
First seen: Grammys, March 2021
2021: IG story from March, Stephen Colbert skit filmed in March, Fearless TV promo video from April
I’m heavily leaning towards this being a personal piece because CW clarified in an IG post that the ring was “Taylor’s own” but didn’t say the same for the earrings she also kept after the Grammys.
Here’s a comprehensive guide to the opal rings theory if you want to clown

I will never give up. Ever. Bless up. ♥️ Love you all, Martijn. ♥️ #2020 #goals #rap #hiphop #music #entrepreneur #newyear #2019wrapped #spotify #rapper #creative #freemind #freesprit #entrepreneur #mixing #mastering #freesoul #tjin #revo #swdg #waterman #ep #stille #wateren #diepe #gronden https://www.instagram.com/p/B5tpazrJ7B5/?igshid=4jt71golowln

The First Flying Car Came To Reality
About 60 or 70 years ago when people were asked to imagine, how the year 2020 would look?… People imagine futuristic cities, people having hoverboards, cars flying in the sky…!
Flying cars would have become reality, but unfortunately, it didn’t happen. Reality of today is traffic jams unlike what people thought about the world.
But a flying car is a thing which is slowly-slowly becoming a reality. Today in 2022, accompany in Slovakia successfully tested an actual flying car. This is not a dream for the future, it is reality now.
Let's Understand This Technology….
If you haven’t noticed lately, we are living in the future, but there is still one thing that is conspicuously absent. Where are the flying cars? I was promised flying cars…! I don’t see any flying cars. why? why? Would there ever be an aircraft where you can just jump in and be able to take off and fly wherever we want to…?
History Of Flying Cars
Reading this, it feels like a flying car is something really futuristic, but people had started to make one about 100 years ago.
Auto Plane Flying Car
In 1917, saw the first attempt at building a flying car or perhaps a roadable aeroplane, an aeroplane that can navigate roads too, it was named the AUTO PLANE. This was built by Glenn Curtis. It was given the title “limousine of the year”, but was the flying car actually able to fly? It is said that when they tried to fly, it lifted off the ground but unfortunately it wouldn’t fly properly. So, the autoplane attempt also didn’t succeed.
Aerobile Flying Car
After this, we get to 1933, when the US air commerce bureau conducted a competition called the Flivver competition, they challenged people to design an aeroplane that would cost less than 700 dollars to build. Many models were submitted in this competition and one of these models was the Aerobile designed by Walda Waterman. This was an aeroplane that looked like a car, it could take flight but never went into production because they were going through the great depression, there were not enough funds to produce it.
Airphibian Flying Car
After so much effort previously, there was something which could be called the first successful attempt which took place in 1945. American inventor Robert Edision Fulton built an aeroplane called the Airphibian. It looked like a proper aeroplane, the only difference was that the front of it could be detached, it took about 5 minutes to convert this aeroplane into a car and the resulting car looked like the front of the aeroplane. For its Era, this airplane was quite innovative, and it got a flight certification from the civil aviation authority, but the aeroplane was that because of the compromise in the design it was neither a good aeroplane that could compete with the other aeroplanes not was it a good car that could complete with the other cars, when it turns into a car it looks really weird. To add to it, in 1945, there were financial problems due to World War 2 and this company could not find investors for this flying car.
Convaircar Flying Car
And then came the Convaircar, industrial designer Henry Dreyfuss attempted this in 1947. This looks like a car stuck with an aeroplane on it. Airphibian looked like an aeroplane completely, but it looks as if the car got stuck to the aeroplane by mistake and is now flying with it. It too took 5 minutes to convert from an aeroplane to a car and by converting it meant detaching the aeroplane part and keeping it aside and then using the front part as a car. It was a great idea for its time and in its third test flight this Convaircar crashed, the pilot checked the reading on the car meter and thought there is enough fuel in the car but aeroplane part fuel was very less which lead to this unfortunate crash, after this crash people lost confidence on it and the investors backed out. The problems with these attempts was that they took a car and took an airplane, and they combined them as they were. A true flying car would be one that could actually transform from an aeroplane to a car; the two can’t simply be combined nearly to detach the part of the aeroplane when the car is used.
Taylor's Aerocar
Morton Taylor was the first person to decide to work on the design of Airphibian and to make the wings of the aeroplane foldable so that when it has to be used as a car the wings could be folded and stored behind the car. This came true in the year 1949, it was named Taylor’s Aerocar. They got the certification and the approval for mass production, but the problem was that they needed at least 500 advance orders before mass production could begin. And there were not enough people interested in it, so they couldn’t even get the 500 orders, so the deal had to be called off. At this point the company Ford was quite close to buying this Taylor Aerocar but that deal couldn’t be finalized either. There was a scarcity of funds but perhaps a bigger problem was the lack of technological advancement, we didn’t have the technology to build a true flying car.

Flying Cars Of 21st Century
In October 2021, a Swedish company called Jetson Aero presented their Jetson 1 airplane to the world. As you can see in the picture below it doesn’t look like a car at all, rather it can be called an extra-large drone because it flies like a drone. a person sits inside it and pilots it around. It is a single seater vehicle. only one person can sit inside it. they had started working on it in 2017.
The first prototype was ready in January 2018, and it had its first successful flight too, but they introduced their company and presented their second-generation prototype to the world in October 2021. Its speciality is its design. A helicopter requires a helipad for takeoff and landing, but Jetson 1 is too small that it can land on or takeoff from anyone’s roof or garden. to keep it light weight its frame is made of aluminium and it weighs only 86 kg. It is very light. And the person sitting on it can weigh up to 95 kg. perhaps the most interesting thing is that you wouldn’t need a pilot licence to fly it because according to the US laws there is no need of a pilot licence for a home build single seater aircraft, since it is a single seater aircraft only one person can sit in it and its home-built aircraft too, because if you buy it, it will reach you 50% assembled.
You can order it from anywhere in the world the way that the company ships this to you, you need to assemble it yourself, so it comes under the category of home build category. With this the legal hassles for the company are reduced. Because the company would no longer be responsible in case of any accident because you have put it together. Jetson 1 is truly very futuristic but it cannot be practically used much because you can’t fly it at night, you can’t fly it over city traffic because there are restricted air space, and generally it is quite difficult to fly a camera drone nowadays, so it will be very difficult to get permission to fly this, but the are co-founder, Peter Ternstorm, has said that they are not trying to solve a problem in the world they are simply promoting it as a fun activity. He states that it is fun to fly it. you can guess the origin of the name of the company Jetson, if you recall the Jetson used to be a cartoon a while ago and the futuristic aircraft used by the Jetsons family to travel looks somewhat like this, so they tried to copy that design and took inspiration from it. so, this Jetson 1 cannot be termed as a proper flying car because it cannot run on the road but there is another company in Slovakia, they presented their Aircar to the world in February 2022.
Aircar
There is a company in Slovakia, which will represent their Aircar to the world in February 2022. It is a flying car in true essence, friends. It is very clear that to build such a technology we need skillful engineers and out of the world innovation.
● So What's Special About Aircar?
It completed its first intercity flight in June 2021 from the international airport Nitra to the Bratislava airport. Both cities are in Slovakia and Slovakia is an eastern European country. In February 2022, the transport authority of Slovakia gave it clearance for takeoff; it received the certificate of airworthiness. the European aviation safety agency’s all testing safety standards are obeyed by the flying car. This is the first flying car to actually look like a flying car. They used a BMW car as a base and had wings attached to it.
The attempt 60-70 years ago was when they tried to stick a part of the aeroplane to a car. But this is the first attempt where the wings come out of the car. no special fuel is needed to fly it.
The petrol that you get at the petrol station is enough to fly this car because the 1.6 litres BMW engine is there. while flying this Aircar can reach a height of 8000 feet and it can fly at a speed of 190 km/hour and a maximum of two people can sit in the car, and to transfer from an aeroplane to a car it takes only 3 minutes. The way it transforms is the wings can be folded to the back and everything is automatic. there is no need to unscrew anything or to separate anything,it is all in one piece.
On the road this Aircar would look like as it can be seen in the picture, it almost looks like a normal car on the road but it is little overboard from the back which is not bad because some cars are longer at the back. one thing certain to fly this is you would need a pilot licence because it needs a proper runway to take off. The AirCar has completed more than 200 take-offs and landings, so there is no doubt that it is a successful flying car. If you want to buy it, how much would you need to pay…?
It is said that it will start from 500000 dollars ranging upto 1 million dollars depending upon the model you want to buy. And within 12 months it will become commercially available meaning you can buy it in the market then. the founder of the Jetson 1 stated that they see their aircraft as a fun activity, it supposed to be a fun activity but the company that has made the Aircar, the company name is KLEIN VISION, they believed that this air car will replace helicopters in the future because the internal combustion engine of a normal car is used in it which would mean that it’s very energy efficient.
Normally to fly helicopters and aeroplanes a bigger amount of fuel is used, they also require special fuel but as this Aircar can fly with a car engine, it can be assured that in the future it wouldn’t be that difficult or costly to use the electric mechanism to fly this Aircar. It means that a fully and truly electric Aircar would be possible, it would also be good for the environment and pocket of the people in comparison to helicopters and normal airplanes.
What Are The Uses Of Flying Car?
● Advantages :-
The most important use of these flying cars is said to be for emergency services such as for ambulances, fire engines or for the police or one advantage would be that it would be easier to use than helicopters and there is no need to build separate infrastructure for them. Trains require railway tracks, metros require tunnels, cars require roads but for the flying cars we can use the infrastructure that always exists. Another major advantage of these is that they are very flexible, talking about Jetson 1 aircraft they can land and take off from anywhere. We will get end-to-end connectivity here and obviously the environmental impact can be reduced drastically, because normally cars take a long time to cover long distances but flying cars would be able to do it faster and they will consume less energy as well.
