Thanks to the amazing encouragement of, and inspiration from @moonlightwarriorqueen I present my first fanfic in clone wars fandom. This is a Pride and Prejudice inspired Wolffe x Reader fluffy romp, with added appearances from my favourite Marshall Commander Fox, the Wolf Pack, Plo Koon and as many characters as I can shoehorn in appropriately lol.
P.S. If you haven’t read the amazingly gorgeous work of @moonlightwarriorqueen please can I suggest you do so forthwith. Their work is like a warm hug on a frosty day.
A truth acknowledged universally (part 1)
Wolffe x fem!Reader
Rating G
Trigger warnings: anti clone/adoptee discrimination in future chapters, discussions of money and food insecurity.
Wolffe scowled as the party reeled around him. The patch covering his eye itched something fierce, as the musket wound was still healing beneath it. .He had been dragged from his enforced solitude by the rambunctious pleas of his younger brothers, affectionately dubbed the “Wolf Pack” by those who had the misfortune to know them at their most exuberant.
To his left his father, Plo, dozed lightly despite the loud music played aggressively on the pianoforte which guided the dancers around the room. Wolffe moved gracefully to ensure that the blanket upon his father’s lap didn’t slip away under the weight of the abandoned book within his lap. His father had spent too long this afternoon expending his energy and had refused Wolffe’s gruff requests to rest. Despite being ostensibly retired, Doctor Koon spent many hours teaching the younger children in the village to read, saving their parents the schooling fees, so that they may more easily feed their families with the money saved. Wolffe could not be cross with his father, but he was concerned with the personal toll the unrelenting kindness took on his father as he entered his twilight years.
With a bone weary exhale, Wolffe watched as his younger brothers, Sinker and Boost, spun their latest objects of affection around the ballroom, both of them possessed with a giddiness and breathless joy he himself had not been party to in years. Wolffe didn’t begrudge them that joy, far from it, he wished he could bottle and preserve it for all his brothers so that they would never be without, but as the eldest sibling, the responsibility for his family's fortunes weighed heavily. The burden had become harder to shoulder since his injury at the hands of a French assassin had forced him home to recuperate. Wolffe could only afford a few more weeks before returning to the front line would be necessary for all of his family to remain solvent. Internally, Wolffe began to calculate the amount of time he had to remain before it would be deemed socially acceptable to leave.
With a crunch of strained wood, the ballroom doors swung open with an unbecoming lack of decorum. Wolffe’s gaze snapped to the entryway, assuming his other brothers, Comet and Wildfire, the irrepressible twins, had either escaped or joined the party without permission. Instead, he was surprised to see new faces. Arrivals were hard to keep under wraps in a village this small. Everyone knew each other's business faster than the carrier pigeons could arrive.
Wolffe studied the group who had interrupted the festivities. A bearded gentleman in naval uniform maybe a decade older than Wolffe led the way, his natural leadership and presence evident in his stride. He was flanked by a sandy haired young man with intense eyes, clad in a junior officers uniform, who was escorting a younger girl, whose dazzling blue eyes and scandalously matching coloured hair suggested trouble.
With a short whisper to the host, they were announced as First Sea Lord Benjamin Kenobi, and his young charges Officer Anakin and Ahsoka Kenobi. Behind them both, trying her best to blend into the wallpaper, was a young woman, unannounced and unnamed, she followed the trio indoors, eyes cast downwards.
Wolffe watched as the Lord and his family worked the room, intriguing all around them. There was an unseemly amount of fawning over the new arrivals which caused more than one exasperated eye roll from Wolffe as both Sinker and Boost, abandoning their dates for the evening, fell over themselves to pester Lord Benjamin for tales of maritime warfare and adventure.
Beside him, Doctor Koon stirred, awoken by the change in background ambience. He looked to Wolffe for support as he tried to rise to his feet, which his son provided dutifully and automatically without glancing downwards. Rubbing the unexpected sleep from his eyes, he felt his joints ache from the position in which he had taken his impromptu nap. No doubt he would be subject to a light scolding from his eldest son, who worried for everyone but himself. Plo looked to see what had taken Wolffe’s attention.
Wolffe seemed enraptured by a young lady who had entered behind the newcomers. Whilst they held court, this lady had sought out the serving staff and it looked as though she had asked, to their bafflement, to be put to work.
Plo supposed that this ask for employment was a diversionary tactic to avoid participation in the pantomime currently underway from her companions. Whilst Lord Ben and his young family enjoyed every moment of attention, this girl was determined to avoid it, and when her offer of assistance was politely declined, she took herself to the chairs at the furthest, and most empty corner of the room. She looked for all the world as though she wished to blend into the wallpaper. Dr Koon was surprised she hadn’t acknowledged Wolffe’s stern and probing gaze so far, but what was even more unexpected was the small jolt which travelled through his son as she did finally return his stare.
Icy blue gray eyes met the Wolffe’s remaining amber eye and a silent conversation took place.
Koon knowingly chuckled as he patted Wolffe’s arm, drawing his attention downwards, to support more of his weight. However, the brandy he had had after dinner sought to rush to his head and he swayed heavily, his heart fluttering too fast and too unevenly. As his vision narrowed, and the familiar blackness of unconsciousness encroached, all Koon could think was how much this would further worry Wolffe. He hoped the arms of oblivion would let him return. He had much to do.

*non star wars*
sooo I just watched lotr war of the rohirrim today and godddd it was such a healing moment in these trying times
tbh i was expecting it to be diabolical (the abomination they call the rings of power traumatized me good god i could go about everything wrong in it for h o u r s), not to mention that the existing lore of this movie is only two pages long in return of the king appendices?? i thought tf they doin ova there what more evil incarnate are they creating i was cautiously optimistic nearing hopeless actually...
but they did so well, i'd call it quite faithful to the lore even though they had to put a story for helm's unnamed daughter (im sort of a purist thats why i just wanna chuck amazon down to the fires of mt doom). every time riders of the mark theme came on made me ugly sobbing, it brought so much nostalgia. i wasn't there yet to watch the original trilogy in theaters and to see a piece of it actually healed something in me and it was such an honor.
roughly put this movie is astronomically better than the abomination i mentioned earlier
spoilers and rants:
tho i'd prefer it if hera died with wulf in dramatic duel death for extra angst since her fate afterwards was never known but what we had is beautiful and very good-ending at its best
fréalaf might be my new blorbo beware
to those who read the appendices: ANYONE HERE GETTING EMOTIONAL JUST KNOWING EVERYBODY'S GONNA DIE? THE SONS DIED, THE DAD DIED, JEEZ (this is why i'd prefer hera died too bcs this story was supposed to be tragic all the way to the end)
ugly sobbing for the 10th time when the funeral theme came on i couldnt even sing along bro
my only resentment: OF COURSE they had to use the name haleth and hama, OF COURSE they had to repurpose probably 12 scenes from the original trilogy, OF COURSE they had to use THE WATCHER OF THE WATER AND THE GREAT EAGLES AND SARUMAN AND GANDALF ugh just... could you not namedrop people for one single adaptation (take notes from moon knight probably?) (rings of power did it the worst way possible im not gonna be shy about bullying that excuse of a fanfic) (ssshhh zest is manifesting cancellation)
my not only resentment: miranda otto :3 (alan lee and john howe made their return for the illustrations, the trio exec producers too holy chmeese i pumped my fist in the air)
and they aced in depicting the oliphant so frickin scary i was literally on the edge of my seat
thanks for the nostalgia, lotr wotr cast n crew 💐
#lord of the rings#war of the rohirrim#z3st rants#jrr tolkien#i read the silmarillion and the appendices#thats why im royally pissed off with lotrrop#just saying

You are now legally required to infodump about the gameplay mechanics that you think up for video games fanfics.
HELLO BELOVED MUTUAL I AM VERY HAPPY YOU ASKED
it involves a variety of things like sometimes when i am writing FE fic i'll think about hypothetical level designs, recruitment requirements for certain characters in the au, things like that
what's got me thinking about this NOW is i've been brainstorming a fe awakening/XC3 fic for the past couple weeks and considering what their classes would be
the ones i've got most for are lucina and severa, who with cynthia would be the kevesi trio here. i'm only including six characters bc i'd overload myself otherwise,,
lucina is an attacker with good all-round stats but particularly strong atk, dex, and agility. her class skills:
aether: chance to pierce/heal dealt damage
charm: party accuracy up
dual strike: grants art follow-up to party members within a fixed radius [lvl 5 inheritance]
awakening: increased crit/accuracy/avo at low health [lvl 15 inheritance]
for plot reasons, her blade (i.e. the one summoned through the iris) ISN'T falchion. her blade is a lance-staff combination that deals good damage while empowering allies, bc i feel that mix of offence and support is How Lucina Should Be. falchion, unlocked later, would come with its own set of arts (which are more strongly offensive) and probably be switched to via the talent art.
severa is a defender. she acts as a hybrid dodge/hp tank, having strong hp, agility, and def but lower dex and atk [stats based off her fates incarnation]. she also has high base crit. her class skills:
competitive: increases damage dealt to enemies targeting her
triumphant: boosts aggro when dealing a critical hit
strong riposte: increases damage dealt when hp is 50% or lower [lvl 5 inheritance]
fierce rival: increases crit rate for every critical hit performed by an ally [lvl 15 inheritance]
she uses a sword, generating aggro via swift attacks and high aggro arts. some of her arts also have crit recharge, and her talent art has crit damage up. she has less focus on party defence than other defenders tend to, which is complemented by lucina and cynthia’s ability to more or less handle themselves. this is a fun class to put in the context of xc2 bc it'd one where you'd equip an avant-garde medal (crit healing) and win
the last of this trio is cynthia, a healer, and i've got less ideas for her right now? she's similar to lucina but has more focus on support than offence. i'm considering making her fairly buff-focused though not as broken as signifier is. her provisional skills:
rally speed: increases ally evasion within a fixed radius
heroic spirit: boots party damage dealt by 5-10% for each active buff (max: 200%)
luna: when landing a hit, deals damage as though enemy ether defence was 30-50% lower [lvl 5 inheritance]
[unnamed]: increases healing power with number of party buffs
luna would be the inheritable ether counterpart to ultimate qigong (same skill but physical def), which is REALLY needed in the xc3 meta. i don't know much about her arts yet either but they'll probs be ether-based.
i've planned much less for this au's agnian trio (owain, inigo, brady) BUT vague outlines:
owain is the defender purely because the way he acts and stuff he says can't NOT draw attention. he also has good crit, like severa, and basically all his arts are ether + AOE to some extent. he's more the hp sponge type of tank, being very good at handling crowds of enemies (and probs has a skill that reduces damage taken per no. enemies in battle)
inigo is the attacker with good combo access (topple + smash) and strong offence. he can find himself taking aggro from owain at times. to counter this he has a skill called "stop staring at me!" that increases damage dealt to enemies targeting him (he makes them stop targeting him by killing them, which is exactly how i play the attacker role in-game) and his talent art both has increased damage when aggroed AND eliminates aggro.
brady is the healer, and a very traditional one at that, dealing in strong healing, reducing party damage, and increasing party debuff resistance. his blade is a staff. one of his skills, which is inheritable, is:
miracle: 50-70% chance to survive a KO with 1hp and five seconds of invincibility (once per battle, does not stack) [lvl 5 inheritance]
bc i don't actually think any other class gives you that aside from soulhacker.
anyway, if you got this far you have my congratulations and eternal respect. this was fun to ramble about :DDD ty for the ask!

Yay!!
Warning, incoming wall of text!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I WORKED HARD ON IT!!! 💞
Actually, Hylia does eventually become the custodian. She just wasn't the first custodian.
My thoughts are that because being said custodian was such a huge deal & such a source of pride that Gàlondo, & then Demise, became enraged when he was replaced… by Sheikaku. Because, in his own mind, he felt entitled to the Triforce. After all, it'd been him who was chosen first. Like, it doesn't matter to him that, as a deity, he couldn't wish on it, that wasn't the point. The point was that it was HIS, dangit!!
But, first, I feel the need to mention that the bones of this backstory is based off of another fanfic from, I think, back after Skyward Sword first came out. In it, much like here, Demise, Hylia, & the Fierce Deity had been the children of the 3 goddesses & they had even been friends as children. Fierce was a lot different back then as he'd been a quiet & shy, but golden hearted & gentle boy who loved nature & music. Meanwhile, Demise had been a cocky little sh!t (pardon the language), but at the same time, what kid isn't every once in a while?
Anyway, rage baby grew up & was chosen as the custodian first, but he went rotten & was chased from the then unnamed Hyrule. He left the land in ruins & the people tarnished by his wicked influence.
So, FD volunteered & became the next custodian. However, he quickly learned that diplomacy won't always fix things. Sometimes, the only thing that people will listen to is force. In such a moment, he was forced to make a decision: remain as he is & allow those he'd been entrusted with protecting to continue to suffer & spiral deeper into corruption… or reforge himself into something sharper & save as many as he can.
I'm sure you can figure out what his choice was. Link had always been the sort to step up when it was time to make the hard decisions.
But, due to what happened before with Demise, the other gods were… understandably wary of this… abrupt & very dark shift in the once sweet boy. So, they removed him as custodian & then Hylia was put in his stead.
Despite this, Fierce continued to protect the land & its people.
Eventually, Hylia offered a sort of marriage of convenience to him & he agreed as he figured that it would allow him to better protect the people.
Upon consummating, Hylia later gave birth to the first Hylian. Then, with the next child was the first Sheikah.
Anyway, time goes on, Fierce trains his Sheikah children in the ways of combat & they repeatedly fight off Demise whenever he attempts to return to reclaim what he believed was his by right.
But then, the time eventually comes where Demise has grown so strong that he kills Fierce & so what we hear from SS' opening cutscene takes place.
I really & truly wish that I could remember the name of the fic or the name of the author, because I would tell you, but I don't.
Now, I've taken the basic setup of this story with Demise, Hylia, & FD being the children of the Golden Trio, Demise being corrupted into an Akuma, FD taking over for him, but changing into something darker out of necessity, then being removed from office only for Hylia to take his place, they get married & create both the Hylians & the Sheikah, then FD dies trying to protect what he sees as his family, but other than that, I've changed somethings.
For one, the Hylians & Sheikah aren't going to be Hylia & Sheikaku’s literal children. They’ll have been created as a joint Godhand Peoples (meaning races that explicitly came into existence as a result of deities creating them). In my version of things, a deity can only create a singular People in their entire lifetime, but they can Elevate multiple.
However, what Hylia & Sheikaku did was perform what amounts to “synergenesis” or creation synergy. This is something that happens when 2 deities with compatible aspects or domains compound their life energy to create something. And Hylia & Sheikaku just so happened to have compatible domains. Hylia was a goddess of the sun (like Amaterasu) & Sheikaku was a god of the moon (like Tsukuyomi). This allowed them to give the 2 a sort of boon. And this boon made it so that if all of one race were to die off, then the other would begin to produce more of that lost rave. As such, the only true way to be entirely rid of either Hylians or Sheikah is to erase both from existence at the same time. (This is how I explain the Sheikah somehow managing to come back from extinction so often.)
In this way, they are sister peoples & the reason why the Sheikah originally began to protect Hylia was, simply put, because Sheikaku saw them both as his spiritual children & saw something similar in them that he knew was in him. As such, he tasked them with protecting each other as one would siblings.
I will say that the Gàlondo that had been redeemable isn't completely gone. And this part is actually super spoilery for my stuff, but I'm a chatterbox, so. 🤷♀️ You see, the way I have it is that souls are much like how they're portrayed in Japanese culture (which, I know. It's probably getting a bit much having to hear about it so much, bear with me) in that a person's soul is made up of 4 parts. The Saki Mitama (幸御魂), the Kushi Mitama (奇御魂), the Nigi Mitama (和御魂), & the Ara Mitama (荒御魂). The Saki Mitama is filled with the power of blessing & represents happiness & love. Kushi Mitama is imbued with the power of transforming & represents wonder/wisdom. The Nigi Mitama is blessed with the power of unifying & represents peace. It is the counterpart to the Ara. And, finally, the Ara Mitama is the wild or violent, rough soul. It is saturated with the power of ruling & represents fluster/bravery. It is the soul of bravery, aggressive action, anger and/or violence. Ara & Nigi are balancing counterparts to each other.
My version of things has it so that when he became Demise, he… I suppose… Cast out his Kushi, Saki, & Nigi, leaving only his Ara, which was then corrupted into this… awful thing.
But in so doing, his Kushi, Saki, & Nigi united with a different Ara. (Because that sort of thing can absolutely happen in Japanese myth, so you can literally meet someone who was reincarnated from the same person, which I believe is how Zelda 2 had 2 Zeldas to begin with.)
Anyway, my point is, I've basically made Groose into an example of the sort of person that Gàlondo could've become had things… Not gone so awful for him. But, similarly, I hc that the Ganondorfs are what happened after Demise was officially killed. Because the next life saw the relevant parts of Groose's soul recombining. And, even then, I believe that he could've still been a decent person… had Kōme & Kotake not raised him. (Like, they were literal witches with confirmed black magic which they, confirmed, used as a means to prolong their lived. They brainwashed Nabooru, probably more, & they mentioned sacrificing Link in their ‘master.’ So, I dun care what anyone says, you grow up with them as examples, you're probably gonna end up pretty twisted. Which is why I think that Gan was essentially sabotaged by them. I think that they may have been followers of Demise & were planning to use Ganondorf as a vessel for Demise's hatred. Maybe I'm being horrible, but that's the vibe I got.
In other words, one of the end goals of my sort of fantasy version of things is to save the last remaining part of who Gàlondo is, thereby giving Ganondorf the chance to… actually live his life. Hopefully, in a way that feels full circle, ya know?
But, that's getting very off topic because I got super excited about talking about my wips.
As for Rauru with him saying that Zelda hadn't come before, I think he was just outright mistaken. Because remember that Gan literally says Link's name & mentions how Rauru put his faith in them. Which implies that this is more so a case of a bootstrap paradox rather than an alternate timeline. But then, it's also possible that he just said that to give Zelda hope. We just don’t know.
For the thing about why Zelda wouldn’t connect Ganon with Ganondorf… There are many possibilities, but I’m not sure if you’ll like it much.
Well, first off, she may well just be trying to deny that there is any connection. 100 years trapped in that castle with the [insert cuss word of your choice] who almost exterminated her people. And people’s heads do some pretty weird things in order to protect them.
Another possibility is that… Urbosa may not have told her. Something I noticed was that the only people who ever mention the Gerudo’s connection with the Calamity were other Gerudo. The first time was with Urbosa &, unless I’m misremembering, I’m pretty sure that she only spoke of it while she was alone & far from others.
Similarly, when you remember the Sage of Lightning speaking about it, & even Riju to a degree, you -or I, really- got the distinct impression that they saw as deeply personal to them. And, if you notice, no one ever makes mention of male Gerudos besides the Gerudo (Rhondson). And nor in a “they don’t exist” sort of way, but in a “they’re very rare” way. Which implies that they are a very present reality for the Gerudo.
And, when I really think about it, things start to make more sense. Because consider the state that Ganondorf left not just Hyrule, but his own people in.
The Gerudo’s king -or chief, I guess- had killed the queen of a much much larger country with far more land, many more resources, more advanced technology, & more people. To take a single sacred relic of this other people. Which, keep in mind, was already a dang gamble to start with. (I’ll talk about this in a bit. It’s about one of my only gripes with the game.) Then, he sicced his monsters on that kingdom &, to make matters worse, he effing got his butt sealed away along with the king of that other kingdom!
From their perspectives, he left them. And, not only did he leave them, he left them in the middle of a war that they could not win without him. Because those monsters aren’t going to listen to them. And Hyrule had at least 6 other stone holders. They were effed!
So, in my wildly fantasizing head, I see them being pariahs for the next 100 years (& I mean, legit; because dude was basically Hitler, so this would make the Gerudo analogous to the Nazis in the minds of Hyrule, so I'm just thinking open hostility) until the 1st Calamity took place. And, something I think is pretty telling is the fact that the Divine Beasts seem to be very specifically made to be used by members of the 4 other nations. Like, I know that AoC is a spin-off, but it feels a bit indicative of something. And, if I’m right, then it’s possible that the Gerudo first allied with Hyrule because of that? Because, in their minds, he betrayed them. He threw them away for power & they wanted to make things right. I think that he became a point of deep shame for them & that they felt responsible for having allowed the tragedy to come to pass. Which is supported by the Lightning Sage’s line about his existence being their responsibility.
What if, in trying to make amends, they tried to entirely disconnect themselves from him? What if they keep it a closely guarded secret? What if the only reason they are prospering now is because the 1st Champion was a Gerudo? Maybe I'm thinking too deeply about this?
*reads the correction on the “I don't like” vs “doesn't make sense/contradicts preexisting lore” stuff* Makes sense. Sorry about that.
Oh same! I love that. Like, yes, freedom is good, but too much freedom tends to leave you with too many options to choose from. I like to use rules so I can play with them & exploit them. I find it keeps my mind flexible.
*gets complements on my Outset timeline* Stop iiiit~! 😁 I can practically feel my head inflating like a balloon! But thank you so much! It was really enjoyable!
For the Sky leaving the Master Sword in a different timeline thing, remember that he's just a little knight academy kid, not a pseudoscience major. And, not long ago in the game, he went back in time to plant the Life Tree &, when he came back from the future, the tree was treated as though it'd always been there. Maybe he just thought that this was how time travel worked?
I mean, you yourself said that not a lot of fans point it out & we have the ability to rewatch these scenes. So, I dunno. I guess that I wouldn't be shocked if it was just the sort of detail that our bird boy missed. The real question here is why Fi didn't mention anything… Unless it was something that was completely unexpected, I mean.
You know what? That's fair. I can see that. Maybe I'm just being too lenient?
Then again, part of why may well just be because of Kingdom Hearts. Like, if you think that the Zelda Timeline is confusing, then you really don't wanna get into Kingdom Hearts. It's a great game series, but the mental gymnastics they have to go through there is... it's like Cirque du Soleil! Just trust me on that. So, compared to that, I feel like I can handle this a bit better.
Though, there is a bit of a joke going around that Misko, like, raided Link & Zelda's wardrobe. I know it likely isn't what happened, but I guess I just found it kinda funny. XD
I'll agree with you there with the other Link stuff feeling a bit… Cheap & I'm not even gonna pretend to understand the thing with the Wild Set.
Though, I would like to bring up that Minish Cap technically also has a timeline split as well, one that I'm calling the Deminish Timeline (see what I did there). It happens when you run out of time to ascend the tower & save Zelda. Remember that you get an actual cutscene that plays out of Vasti succeeding.
So, yeah. I would actually really like to see another Capcom Zelda play with that a bit, too.
Oh! You don't? Huh. I actually find all the little tidbits of IRL Japanese lore & how they influence the games to be one of my favorite things about the games. It's like, “Oo! What little breadcrumbs are you gonna leave for me today, Nintendo?”
While it may seem that way for us, I'd like to point out that they are Japanese games. And they tend to get the games first. In a similar way to how English-made games are naturally gonna have things in them that other countries might not fully get. For instance, I was playing this really addictive game called Dave the Diver. In it, Dave was a diver, but he was also quite obese. And because of it, he was often underestimated & people could often be rude to him. Now, I didn't really notice, but someone else pointed out that none of those individuals ever apologize to him & made a bunch of comments about fatphobia & all that mess. And, I realized that they were right, but that I also couldn't remember any other characters getting apologies either. But, at the same time, I also realized that, even though they don't apologize, they very clearly treat him with much more respect afterwards. Then, remembering that the game was originally made in Korea, I thought to myself, "Is this another example of cultural differences?" Then, I went to look, & sure enough, it is. Or, it was. Turns out, the older generations of Koreans have a tendency to refuse to apologize because of something to do with "face" & the belief that apologizing meant showing your face & that it would cause people to think less of them. Evidently, it's becoming less of a thing in younger generations, but it's still fairly prevalent now. So, I just found that interesting. Now, admittedly, this is a bit of a false equivalency, but I just found it interesting.
I suppose that a better way to put it would be that it seems a bit strange to not want such things in a game because then it would also mean taking a lot of things out that we probably would want to.
Oh! You took Japanese!? That's so cool! Did you know that my blog name is something I made up in my teenage weeaboo days? XD I understood nothing about the language & just sort of threw stuff together that I thought sounded cool.
Though, I also really like the names given to the dragons in English. Still think they could've been a bit more creative with the one for Naydra, though. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool name. But it's also just really uninspired.
Mmm… Not necessarily, it may have to do with desert lightning as that's how fulgurite can take shape.
Also, remember that OoT Ganondorf could summon lightning (though, so could Demise). But something also of note is that Kōme & Kotake could use fire & ice magic despite being Gerudo. Similarly, most of the sages in ALBW were just outright Hylians. I also believe that it was implied that the sages before the ones in OoT were the 7 Wisemen, who were most likely all Hylian as well. If so, then this also implies that elemental alignment is more flexible than it's been in recent games. Like, I definitely believe that each race likely has a specific element or 2 that they are more prone to being aligned with just due to their natures, but that it doesn't always mean that they are incapable of aligning with other elements. (Though, something to keep in mind is that lightning & fire are similar in nature to a degree.)
*gasp* Story time!
…
That's interesting! Please, tell me that Link gets automail… I think my only issue here is that it suggests that there's a timeline out there without a Master Sword & that makes me uncomfortable because what happens if Demise's hate-stank shows up over there, too?
Sorry, getting ahead of myself.
I'm also glad to help however I can, though it might take a bit to come up with anything else that could feasibly work.
Hmm… It's not so much that I hate the whole power of love thing, because love is powerful. But I also think you need to be careful about how you go about framing it. If you do it wrong, it feels super cheesy in the really bad way. Like, in this specific situation, it very much doesn't fit for love to be literally power. In MLP FIM, it makes complete sense because strong & healthy interpersonal relationships do, in fact, give you literal power & it's something that's established in the literal first episode of the show. But that isn't the case here.
… I personally think that part of it might just be because they were the only 2 of their species left. Like, if there’s only 2 of them, then most everything else is likely just for the sake of leaving… Something behind. Because if they were all that was left, then part of the reason why there was so much involving the Zonai… could very well just be Rauru & Mineru trying to leave some sort of legacy behind for their people. I mean, if I were in their place & I knew that the only option left for my people was death, then I think that I'd go a little bit crazy leaving behind whatever I could of us. Which may be part of the reason why I might've tried so hard to provide my perspective on them, because it just… I dunno, it feels really sad, ya know? Like, I look at Rauru & all I see is a man who's just so very desperate to just leave something behind, but ultimately ends up losing everything.
Then again, maybe that's just my wip sneaking in, I've essentially got Rauru & Sonia set up as this strange mix between Pocahontas/John Smith & Greg/Pink Diamond in which Rauru literally goes to civil war against his own mother in order to protect Hyrule, but the war ends up cutting the Zonai's numbers in half, which is then further reduced to only 2 when a disease emerges that only afflicts Zonai.
So, that might be warping my perception a bit. (Side-Note: I'm toying with the idea of having Rauru’s mom come back as a main villain. Which, I think would be super cool, because I don't think any of the other games has something like that. Thing is, I'd want her to have been this extremely regal empress woman whose very much the essence of entitled, but terrifyingly intelligent, powerful, & sinister. But also, she genuinely loved her people & her children. So, upon waking, she learns that she is all who is left & she goes more than a little crazy. And she makes it perfectly clear from the get go why she's doing what she's doing. She hates Hyrule & its people because she feels like they took everything from her. She was an empress with no empire, a queen with no people. Her children... all she had left of her husband was now gone. And she hates Zelda most of all because whenever she looks at her all she can see is that little viper who turned her son against her.)
But, I very much agree that I wish that we got to learn more about the Zonai as a people. The most we really got was the stuff with the skydive islands (which, to be fair, was actually pretty cool). But, what I really wanted was to see some stinking Rito up there! Like, sure, I get it. You can't fly that high. But you know what you can do? You can use a hot air balloon to at least get you part of the way! Heck, you can even use Octo Balloons!! I'm sure that if one of them did that, then they could get the rest of the way! Or at least show them talking to the researchers to try & brainstorm a special flying suit or wing attachments to give their flaps more power! Like, you see a blueprint for a little terrarium to keep a Sundelion in. Show me more of that! I liked that! Show me more of HYRULE'S modern tech!
Which, btw, I loved the Sundelions & the other new plants. I just wish the fruit & cave fish & stuff had more creative names. I'm not kidding here when I say that I actually have alternate names for them based on their possibly real-world inspirations! Splash Fruit would be Calasplash (for Splash & Calabash), Shock Fruit would be Thundremon (doesn't take a genius), Fire Fruit would be Fuegochuvá (for Spanish Fire & Uchuvá or Cape Gooseberry), Ice Fruit would be Frostangola (from Frost & Tadgola or Ice Apple), & Dazzlefruit would be… Dazzlebana?? (From Guanabana. This one, I'm still not too sure about.) The Sunkin was also cute. But I definitely get what you mean. It very much doesn't feel like there's much actual danger. Like, there's the one dude with Gloom Sickness, but I feel like there should've been more hints of that. Like, I dunno… Gloom starts spreading out from the casms or something?
I also really liked the elemental Lizalfos & the Weapon Fusion. I really wish that there were, like, Shadow Lizalfos to replace the black, Twilight Lizalfos instead of silver, & maybe even Water Lizalfos instead of blue, too!
Anyway, I just think that it just having members of the Survey Team chatting away with some of the Steward Constructs would've been neat & could've helped to make the Skylands feel more… ya know… interesting? Like, they're cool & all, but they just… they didn’t feel… right? It'd have been cool to see a Rito Survey member just bombarding some poor Steward with questions upon questions. It would've especially been cool to learn ant Zonai recipes!! Just grah!! Give me more of their culture, Nintendo!! You see the skydiving skylands?! The Skydiving Suit!? THAT!! Give me more of that!!
Yo, you make so many amazing observations & I wanted to make sure you knew that. And I will say that I may have an idea for the why behind the Puppet Zelda…
It's probably the same reason for why Gan uses hands to terrorize Link.
He's mocking him. Terrorizing him. Doesn’t matter that you & I or Link knows it isn't Zelda, he just wants to torment him. It's the typical dramatic villain shtick.
Anyway, I remember someone noting somewhere that you can see things that look an awful lot, like the Guardian arms in the towers. You know, whenever Link gets manhandled by the grabby things inside? Guardian arms. Also, if you watch, the thing that Josha uses to turn on the towers is a refurbished Guardian. And, OOO!!! This is something that I personally remember being weirded out by literally during my playthrough of the game. There’s this odd circular indent in the earth right beside the Hebra Satori Tree. It confused me so much because I was SURE that it had to be something. So, I made a post on Tumblr &, I was right. It was something. Keyword here being “was.” It's where one of the Sheikah Shrines was in BotW. After that, I remember looking in the exact spots where they'd been before & finding that in a number of those locations, the ground had been upturned & things. So, I think the implications is that either they sunk back into the earth or they were dismantled. If so, it might just be a case of them wanting to show & not tell in more subtle ways. But, I can definitely get why you'd prefer it to be more explicit.
And, to be fair, would you really want to be reminded of the mechanical monstrosities that had been terrorizing you & everyone you love for the past century for any longer than you needed to?
Perhaps the reason why there haven’t been many changes & what little change we do see involves there no longer being Sheikah Tech, are one in the same? Maybe they only just got finished dismantling the last of them? Maybe it’s still a bit too soon or too fresh? Maybe they're just trying to forget & move on.
Oh, I definitely here you with the Light Dragon! So much wasted potential! And, I'm not too terribly fussed over Mineru saying that it's irreversible, because in my mind, it just means that she might be wrong. For instance, like I mentioned before, I see the tech as being too tech, to such an extent that the magic doesn't feel like magic. So, since the stones themselves actively came from the goddess, they are likely much more magic-based. So, to me. The answer should’ve been, “Well, this is a magical problem, so maybe we need a magical solution?” But, that's just me. Personally, I would've been so much more “give me the next game the the series, Nintendo” had they left it on a cliffhanger where Zelda is still a dragon & Sonia & Rauru leave for the next world with mournful expressions of apology.
Instead, I wanted Link to need to have an entire 3rd game in the series where he has to take on the unspoken role of king-regnant because Zelda still be scaly. (Something like Voices of the Forgotten.) And you have sort of this kingdom management minigame where you go talk to Hudson & he helps ya to figure out what to build & where & then you choose people to work there & it affects the kingdom & how it develops. (Think Ni no Kuni 2.) Just make it a very different sort of Zelda game. Heck, even a spin-off would've worked. But at the same time, you have Purah, Robbie, & Josha trying to come up with ways to try & reverse what happened to Zelda, but then it slowly becomes apparent over the course of the first act that there is no scientific way to do this, so they gotta go old school.
And this prompts Link to send out the Survey Team to try & find anything they can about ancient magic that could possibly help. And, maybe they all hit a roadblock only for Link to hear Hetsu ask rather childishly, “Why not ask the Great Deku Tree? He’s been around for a really long time. He might know something.” And, you probably see where this is going, huh? Maybe play a bit with the fact that Pee-paw’s pretty dang old, he might need some help & time trying to jostle the old noggin.
Anyway, you do go dungeon diving, but it's sort of depicted as this… I guess… Going back to basics, sort of thing. Like, the overworld is like BotW & TotK… but then you get into the dungeons… & it's just the super classic dungeons that we all remember. Which would sort of make them feel like remnants of an era passed. Like, oh my gosh. Now that I think of it, I actually have a couple of ideas that I think would be super cool for this idea, but that's more so hc thing & very self-indulgent. I'll tell ya later if ya want.
Maybe the descendants of the OoT Sages, now reawakened as Sages themselves (obviously, Riju, Tulin, Yanobo, & Sidon; that's a given), but like they have to go through some sort of meditation training or whatever, maybe even bring musical instruments into it (I miss that), a mix of MM & WW. (And, I'm aware that this all sounds nuts, but my brain tends to get ahead of itself sometimes, bear with me.) And, they all have to go to old, ruined temples in the Underground &... I dunno, maybe raise them back up to the surface? (That one's a bit more tenuous.)
And, they pray there like how they needed to in Wind Waker.
Heck, if it were up to me, I’d have Link find a Gossip Stone (specifically not the Pirate’s Charm from WW), which he takes back to Purah, who sort of fiddles with it & we get a funny little scene where it lights up & connects to the Purah Pad in this interesting way. And this sort of lets you kinda have multiple companions for this game: Not just Purah, but also Robbie, Josha, Paya, & maybe even Tauro too. Kind of like how Solid Snake can, I guess?
Grr! I got off topic! Anyway, it wouldn't just be the four that we know they'd be, but also Paya either to replace Mineru as the Sage of Spirit (which would fit very well into my hc, possibly have it be a sort of passing on of the torch thing) or to just take up the position of Sage of Shadow. One of the Koroks as the Sage of the Forest (possibly Hestu) OR, I know that Nintendo was thinking about bringing the Koroks back, so maybe them!? Anyway, there’d need to be one more… Mogma as a Sage of Earth? That could work.
Either way, they go to their respective Temples (maybe with their own Gossip Stones, which you slowly find more of over time).
Anyway, somehow, I don't know how, but somehow, it'd get to the point where Link gets his mitts on the Ocarina of Time & starts learning songs from eras past. Then at the climax, Link manages to lure Zelda to the castle ruins (maybe there's some sort of Stasis Trap set up there, or whatever; the Sheikah are basically ninja, get some Fūinjutsu in there), then gets the dragons to sort of "draw” a kind of magic circle in the sky with runes (the central & biggest one being an oversized Sheikah version of the Rewind Rune) & all that, using the holy/magical hotspots around Hyrule to make a kind of magical leyline nexus.
He then uses the Timeshift Stones that I hc the guard of the Master Sword & the Ocarina of Time are forged from (which is how I think that the whole thing with OoT Link was even possible) & sort of syncs it with the Rewind Rune created for the circle, by returning the Master Sword to Zelda’s forehead, then using the Fuse Rune to link it with the Secret Stone she swallowed.
Then, he signals everyone with his Purah Pad & everyone, himself included, begins to play a mix of the Inverted Song of Time & the Song of Healing all at once with him still standing upon her head. The music resonates & ripples out all over Hyrule, from one corner to the next. It builds & builds & builds until it all eventually comes rushing back to the center of Hyrule to crash into the Timeshift Instruments. This basically amplifies the Rewinding Time Magic enough that it can rewind back far enough to return Zelda back to herself… Maybe even restoring Farosh, Naydra, & Dinraal in the process? (I know you might not like that part, but I'm fantasizing.)
And, for just a moment… you hear a pretty, ethereal voice, singing along from the blade.
And, to me at least, THAT would've felt SUPER amazing & satisfying!! But, then again. That probably sounds like fanfic material, right? 😅
As for not remembering Link? Yeah, I don’t like it either, but I’ve also heard that it could be as simple as a variation of the Superman phenomenon. Evidently, it is actually very possible to be seen so often with someone, that if you’re suddenly not with them, that you might not even be recognized. I most definitely remember someone mentioning that it happened to them IRL once. And one of the big things we continue to hear over & over in TotK is that “Link is always with Zelda.”
Though, as for Link not really portraying much emotions? From what I hear, some people seem to associate it with being his Autism face. XD Personally, I could see it? But I also have it in my head that he might have alexithymia, which can refer to trouble expressing emotions, which is something that can occur alongside autism, trauma, or brain injury. And uh… he has at least 2 of those & the 3rd as a possibility, so...
Now, for me, this is more so a way to possibly explain why he's so… blank, but I feel like it's plausible enough. I mean, we already know that he had issues with expressing himself before losing his memories, so he already had that habit in place. And, there's also the possibility that he's just being stoic. From what I understand, being stoic isn't the same as not feeling. It just means that someone isn't showing what they're feeling. Possibly as a self-defense mechanism to protect themselves.
Now, I'm not saying that this is the answer, but it's a possibility. But, even with that, I still absolutely agree with you. That scene would've cut so much deeper if all we saw was Link sink slowly to his knees only to see his eyes were wide with shock & disbelief. The rain coming down almost as though to grant him some form of mercy by hiding the silent tears he wept. (Also, the effing ring of Silent Princesses got me!)
I actually would’ve really liked the cooperation thing if they'd executed it well. That's one thing that I've noticed. For the most part, Zelda games stink super bad when it comes to teamwork.
Also, I agree with how amazing it was seeing Link catch Zelda. X3
Please, don't get me started on Cece. I don't mind most of her stuff. Think she's a snob, but I at least saw some potential. Because, you gotta admit that the fungal fashion thing is really unique. Also, I loved the little stained glass lamps. Always been a fan of those. And, I think the mushroom thing could've been fun & interesting had she gone in a more fairycore direction when decorating the town. But what I've yet to forgive her for is that sin against style of a hat she made!!
Now, the actual hat wasn’t bad & it could've looked fairly nice with the right outfit.
IT WAS EVERYTHING ELSE THAT COULD DIE IN A FIRE!!!
Like, omgosh, girl!? Are you kidding me?? Lapis lipstick & bright pink hair on a light-skinned model, are you in-sane?!?! VERY FEW PEOPLE can pull off that particular shade of lipstick & LINK isn't one of them!!
But then you add that fugly-a$$ wig into this mess & it instantly becomes way worse!
The color alone is bad enough, because just letting him keep his natural color would have made the overall color scheme infinitely better even with the lipstick! But I actually think the style is, in some ways, even worse!!
Like… Why?? Why covering his eyes???
Now, I understand that fashion takes a bit of… experimentation, but upon seeing how he looked in it, had she been like 😃… 🤨 “Oh, darling… I am so sorry. We’ll need to change a couple things, because that is not your color…” Then, I would've accepted that! But, she didn't! She called it “fabulous!”
It’s just… there’s avant-guard & then there's avant gag-me…
That hair & makeup was avant gag-me…
Like, to such a degree that I literally went out of my way to design an outfit that I believed would work well with the hat & it actually looks pretty decent, I think! Though, I think that I'm going to change up the trousers a bit… I want to eventually make Link & then put it on him, but I'm… a bit scared of how it’ll come out. 😅
*gasp* Ohmygosh! A possible Gerudo divide similar to the Sheikah & the Yiga!?!? *is excite*
You may not realize it, but I am mentally clapping my hands together like a little girl!
And, you're right. I admit it. I likely view it through the lense of this curse I conjured in my head. Though, I think part of the reason for that is because if this was always a thing & will never stop being a thing. Then, they never were & will never truly become a legitimately independent people. They would always need to rely on other nations & other peoples & would always be a little bit more on the back foot with them. And, I just… It just feels like a way to ensure that they'll never be truly self-sufficient on their own.
Don't get me wrong, I’m not saying that they should go back to being scarily monocultural the way they were, but I am saying that they are at least humanoid enough that they reproduce with humans.
I'd honestly argue that we see actual proof that it is harmful to the Vai developmentally. Do you remember that one lady in the Voe & You class who literally couldn't talk to Link unless his entire face was covered?
I just… That doesn't feel normal to me, I guess.
Though, it's still possible. At the same time, even if so, I'd argue that it would most likely make things even worse for any Voe born among them. Because, then they might not ever truly understand & it would result in him becoming alienated.
It also threatens to possibly result in them only seeing men as a means of reproduction. Let's just say that not all depictions of Amazons are the most… flattering…
I do agree with you there regarding the weird worship thing, though. The Gossip Stones from OoT even mentioned that.
It's possible that Demise isn't reincarnation, but if not, that kinda breaks the trio thing, doesn't it? We have Hylia reincarnating as Zelda. We have Sky reincarnating as the various Links. But then, who takes the slot where Din would be?
And, same! Like, you’re going to say you’re giving me actual pirates & then not give me actual pirates????
I will say that I absolutely think that the game could've been much better if they'd tightened things up a bit more. Like, I ain’t about to try & defend that. There are definitely a bunch of issues.
I just hope it eventually gets a remake where they fix some of this stuff.
Ah! Thank you!! I've really been enjoying thinking the Outset Timeline! A warning, though! I have a lot of stuff! 😆
Oh! One more thing! OneLook! OneLook is this online reverse dictionary. Because if you’re anything like me, you'll remember the vibe of a word, but not the word itself. Or you know that you want a specific word that means something specific or at least close to it, but you don't know it. OneLook helps me a bunch. Like, it doesn't always work, but I do almost always learn something new & interesting! It'll give you a bunch of words that you could be looking for.
As a side note: I would like to bring up that, the Faron Zonai (the ones from BotW) were noted to have worshipped a water dragon, so… that would certainly line up pretty well with Lady Faron, who would be Naydra here… Maybe the switch is what resulted in the name change to begin with?? It wouldn't be too far of a stretch for mortals to mistake one deity for another. I mean, it happens all the time in IRL myth. Maybe they just saw a big blue dragon with Ice powers & thought, “Ah! That must be a Nayru Dragon! So, Naydra!”
Or, it could be that Dinraal, Naydra, & Farosh are their real names & Eldin, Lanayru, & Faron are more so titles? So, Water Dragon in SS was only called Lady Faron so to say Lady of Faron. If so, that right there could be your loophole.
At this point, I'm just spitballin’. Sorry that I'm not being of much help regarding you ironing out some of this story stuff.
@aikoiya The post was getting too long so I’m replying here, hope that’s okay! If anyone is looking for the beginning of this discussion, it's here.
Your extended pantheon is amazing! I just knew that Gàlondo would end up being Demise haha. I'd say I prefer not to associate Demise with any race in particular (and the Gerudo already have quite a heavy burden with Ganondorf), but otherwise I like that backstory you came up with. So what's Hylia's role in your version then if he’s the guardian of the Triforce? I'm curious ^^
I'd say my reasoning isn't so much "I hate this" but rather "this doesn't make sense/contradicts something else" or "previous games did this better". I also want to show that it's still possible to create stories without ignoring everything that was established previously because to me this idea that the timeline is too restrictive doesn't stand. In fact I tend to believe being a bit restricted and working inside a frame can trigger more creativity (after all they did wild stuff like flooding Hyrule before and it fits perfectly in the timeline). I also would prefer to see the existing lore extended or clarified instead of them adding new confusing stuff and leaving it extremely vague.
Oh I LOVE your Outset Timeline!! Though the ending is indeed very bittersweet. It always makes me so happy when someone else points out the inconsistencies in Skyward Sword's story. That's exactly my reasoning for my fourth timeline, it exists because of Ghirahim and Link's victory over Demise in the distant past. Though you are right, adding a timeline split while keeping the Master Sword in the official timeline requires some gymnastics! At the moment I'm going with a lazy theory about the Sealed Temple being the future Temple of Time, so the Temple's magic somehow allows the Master Sword to exist in both timelines (I said it was lazy haha). Impa’s bracelet is another story though. In my timeline the Goddess Sword is also left untouched in Skyloft because Skyward Sword doesn't happen, which could be useful in case someone accidentally broke the actual Master Sword 😁 It's very intriguing to me that Sky left the sword in the past when he had no reason to (and it shouldn't even be possible since it's in the exact same spot as Zelda's crystal). It's probably just a mistake on Nintendo's part but I like to think there could be something else there, and that Fi had a reason to stay in the past.
About the DLC items the thing is that most sets are found in the Depths in random Zonai chests if I remember correctly, or in the coliseums, and there was no explanation as to how they got there. In Misko's little shrines we find the Fierce Deity set and the LA set, but also the barbarian armor, the shock-resistant outfit and the climbing gear. I can understand building shrines for the Fierce Deity or LA Link following what you said, but then for three random armor sets? Not to mention that Link already owned them in BotW, so making us look for them a second time was kind of a joke. I like this shintai/yorishiro idea, but I think it would work a lot better if there were only a few items to collect and not… the outfits of all the Links ever INCLUDING WILD'S (how!!). It feels really meaningless and more like a catalogue for you to choose from so you can look like your favorite Link (which is a bit insulting to Wild, you can just replace him at this point and go as far as changing his hair or even his entire appearance with the LA set). I also didn't really believe they were the actual items from past games, it made no sense (the same way Link wouldn't actually wear a red Nintendo Switch t-shirt or something from Xenoblade). It just really felt like fanservice.
The dictionary thing might help, but I think the story should be explicit enough on its own and I don't really want to study Buddhism/Shintoism in depth so that I can play Zelda games and understand what's happening haha. I mean of course it's fine if knowing a bit about it adds new context and all, but if you can't understand things like malice vs. gloom without it then I think it's a bit of a problem. Speaking of Fujibayashi I feel like this wasn't really an issue before he was in charge.
Yes the French translation for Demise is very misleading, that's another problem: depending on your language things are sometimes interpreted very differently.
I really like the English names for the three dragons, I think they're so much better than what we got in French. Nedrac, Ordrac and Rhordrac, really?? At first I didn't even understand the link with the Goddesses, and then the last two sound way too similar. Btw I remember from my very basic Japanese courses that it's common in Japanese to create new words by mixing a few syllables of other words together. For example "rimokon" means remote controller (remo + con), or there's the well known Pokemon = pocket monsters. So naturally we end up with stuff like Ordinn + dragon etc.
I thought as well about the dragons going by names given to them by mortals instead of their true names. The thing is, I don't really want to create new names because I'm already changing so many things and my timeline stuff can be a bit complicated, so I need to keep at least a few things familiar. And I really like Dinraal, Farosh and Naydra :D
I agree about Farore being more associated to wind and plants than thunder (I mean she's kind of Link's patron goddess and he has nothing to do with thunder). What's even more confusing in BotW/TotK is that the Gerudo are now also related to thunder for some reason, but they're definitely more Din than Farore in my mind.
Maybe I should give you some context about my dragons haha. The beginning of my story is quite similar to TotK, though I still made some changes. Ganondorf completely destroys the Master Sword, Link looses his arm (except here Rauru isn't there to replace it), and Zelda still travels through time (but not because of a Secret Stone since I got rid of everything Zonai). She arrives in ancient Hyrule one century after Sky killed Demise (because this is set in my alternate timeline), and she's stuck there so she needs to find a way back home. Before that she learns a lot about SS, the Triforce, the timeline split and Hyrule's past. After meeting various characters and most importantly Sonia (who's still a priestess, the Sage of Time and her ancestor), Zelda learns that this era has two Master Swords: the one left by Sky in the Sealed Temple, and the Goddess Sword that is still somewhere above the clouds. She understands then that she needs to retrieve the Goddess Sword in Skyloft and forge a second Master Sword in order to help her Link in the future, and to do so she needs the three Sacred Flames. Where are the flames? The dragons "swallowed" them since they weren't needed anymore after Sky left his own Master Sword, which turned them into the giant immortal dragons we see in BotW/TotK. So that's Zelda's quest: find a way to go to Skyloft and then get the dragons to lend her their power. Along the way she'll also meet the ancient Sages, who can help her return to her own time by using the Triforce (but of course this won't work because of Ganondorf, and Link will have to fight him in the present and bring her back himself).
I'm trying to make this both a story I could adapt in comic form and something that could work as a game. The idea is that Zelda's memories would be playable sequences with places to explore, fights and maybe even mini-dungeons and bosses. And of course there's an entire story for Link as well. At the moment I'm trying to come up with interesting arcs and quests for each race/Sage, both in the past and the present.
Anyway, that's why I'm so focused on the dragons. Zelda (and Link) will need their help and they will talk this time. And since they will remember being apointed by Hylia and they're supposed to absorb their respective sacred flames, I need things to make sense. This is also a timeline without climate change in Lanayru (here it's the same province as in BotW with the addition of Mount Lanayru and a good part of central Hyrule), so the thunder dragon has no business being up there. That's why the swap would make sense.
No need to apologise! I appreciate your perspective and that you're interested enough to share your own ideas! :D
I agree on Zelda's magic being her own and what you said makes sense! Love the part about her only thinking about how she's a failure (though I guess it's only natural if she's been trying for 10 years without result). I don't know if she would have had the same reaction had she witnessed her father's death though. AoC isn't canon but Zelda doesn't unlock her power when Rhoam "dies" in front of her and Link forces her to run. The memory where's she's crying in Link's arms in BotW also shows that she knows everyone is dead, it's even possible that she saw some of it happen (maybe in the same way as AoC for Rhoam, or they saw what happened to the Divine Beasts from afar). I guess they must also have seen some terrible things on the roads, so she could have unlocked her power trying to save her people. But it only happened when Link was about to die.
Haha yes, I'm probably one of the most obsessed Zelink shipper there is and even I can't stand that power of love trope. It really has no place in a LoZ game. In my headcanon Zelda wouldn't access her power only because of her love for Link, though it definitely helps, but rather because the Hero dying is kind of an emergency situation and would trigger her divine magic even if the necessary conditions were not met. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone but me though 😆
Yeah I'm okay with the women of the royal family having some sort of power though not as powerful as Zelda. I think some part of it could also be attributed to their Sage of Time abilities. And the gift of prophecy being inherited from Sky is such a cute idea!!
I don't know about Terrako, I only remember that Zelda built it when she was just a child?
I'd send you an ask to rant about TotK but I'm not sure about the character limit and I fear it would just turn into a second wall of text haha! Here are some thoughts:
– I could live with new lore that contradicts older games, if only things made sense and were sufficiently fleshed out. Then I could just enjoy the story and accept that this is a different continuity. But here everything is so vague and sometimes even confusing. Like if we're going to meet the Zonai and make them such central figures in Hyrule's history, then I want to know more about them and learn about their culture. What's the point if we're only going to see two of them and have no clue about how they created all that technology, mined the Depth, lived with the Hylians, and then disappeared? Same for ancient Hyrule: if the different tribes were at war, I want to see it, and I want to learn more about them. Ganondorf also had so much potential for an interesting backstory. What kind of king is he? How did the Gerudo feel about him becoming the Demon King? What about the Gerudo Sage? And so on. It feels like this could be so much more.
– Other things I would love to see explained: where is the Master Sword in ancient Hyrule and why does no one seem to know anything about it or the Hero? How does it travel through time to reach Zelda? What about Rauru and Sonia's descendants? Also what was the point of the fake Zelda, and why did Ganondorf stay in his bathtub the entire game instead of rehydrating himself right away and getting stuff done? There's also everything I said about the secret stones the other day, but I know you don't see it as a problem ^^ (Also I just rewatched the memories and I had completely forgotten what Rauru tells Zelda in front of Sonia's grave: "Remember, that was a future where you never appeared in this world". So does this mean this is a new timeline that kind of retcons BotW? If not then where did all the Sheikah tech go and how were the shrines replaced by the Zonai ones? I really need an explanation for all of that!!)
– The game also barely mentions what happened in BotW, except for the history class about the Calamity in Hateno, the statues in Zora's Domain, and the memorials left by Zelda to honor the dead. I wanted to see Hyrule starting to rebuild and to get some sort of follow-up on the story. Did Link regain all his memories? Was Zelda planning to take the throne? Does she have some sort of trauma after her century-long battle against Ganon at Hyrule Castle? Why does she react to Ganondorf's name, but doesn't link him to Calamity Ganon? Why did the Sheikah tech that was so central in BotW disappear, especially the Divine Beasts? I care about this world and its characters, I want it to feel like a real place and to see it evolve. But then stuff like this really reminds you that this is just a video game world, and that Nintendo doesn't really seem to care. And if things can be retconned any moment even in a direct sequel, then… why should I feel invested?
– There was a real waste of potential with the Light Dragon and Zelda just transforming back thanks to Rauru and Sonia (btw couldn't they have helped if they could appear anytime and still had that kind of power?). I find it so disappointing that Link doesn't have to do anything to help Zelda, it almost happens by accident. Mineru also said it was irreversible, but in the end it's no big deal (they shouldn't establish something and then ignore it like that). If only Link had to use the Triforce or something. I didn't want Zelda to stay a dragon but sometimes I wonder if it wouldn't have been a better ending.
– It also really doesn't help that Link feels so disconnected from the main story. In BotW he was also experimenting the story through flashbacks but at least they were his own memories and they fleshed out his relationship with Zelda and the other Champions. Here Zelda is the one experimenting the best part of the story, and to make it worse you can find the memories in any order and get badly spoiled. It could have been so cool if Link also time traveled at some point and could explore ancient Hyrule (and they could have done something crazy like Link and Zelda being the ones to seal Ganondorf in the past, which would lead to his transformation into Calamity Ganon). Link is also so expressionless (except when cooking and all) that I find it hard to care when he doesn't seem to. Imagine how different Zelda sealing herself would feel in Skyward Sword if Sky didn't act so distraught. In the same way TotK would hit a lot harder if Link did stuff like falling to his knees after seeing Zelda's last memory.
– I also think that the hands/cooperation theme the devs talked about in interviews is a bit weak and cliché (with characters reminding Link and Rauru that they don't have to do things alone and that they're stronger together, stuff like that). First I don't find it very interesting compared to what games such as OoT, MM or Wind Waker did, and then Link being able to fight Ganondorf alone from the start kind of throws it out the window (and Rauru also ends up sealing Ganondorf on his own). The Sages are not even with Link outside of the dungeons, they just create creepy copies of themselves (and I found them so annoying I never activated them, except for Tulin when flying). But yeah sure they shake hands and vow to help Link. I still think him being accompanied by the Champion's spirits in BotW worked a lot better, and their powers were also more useful. I guess seeing everyone working together to rebuild Hyrule would have made that theme more meaningful. The thing I really liked about this though was Link finally catching Zelda in the end after failing at the beginning of the game, that was a really beautiful scene.
– Also I said it above but I don’t want everything to be explained by Buddhism/Shintoism parallels, especially if the game just expects you to get it without providing context. Let Hyrule be it’s own thing.
So I know this isn't only about lore, but these are the main reasons why I'm not very interested in TotK. To sum up I'd say that the game lacks some kind of depth and has a lot of wasted potential, and it also makes it clear that it's pointless to care about continuity. BotW Hyrule was interesting and I think a lot of things could have been done about existing races instead of adding a new one but not bothering to do much with it. Just bringing Ganondorf back in this version of Hyrule and see how the Gerudo react to him could be so interesting!! Some concepts were also excellent but didn't really go anywhere, like the Depths and the Sky Islands.
Honestly I haven't thought about all these side quests and minor characters yet, I'm still trying to sort things out with the main story ^^ But I don't think I'll touch the ones you mentioned, they were fine. I liked the thing with the Eighth Heroine as well, I've seen a lot of people complaining about it but it's one of the only things in the game I actually found interesting. I just can't unsee the parallel with Link and the Seven Sages (of course).
What I'll be doing for sure is making some of the quests and events more serious, I'm kind of aiming for a darker tone. Most of the quests are quite fun (especially the "potential princess sightings" ones), but I feel like this game really lacks some sense of danger and urgency. For example couldn't the people in Hateno have more pressing problems than making cheese or choosing between Cece and Reede? Or was it really a good idea to make lighthearted little quests about misanderstandings with Zelda when her disappearance should be driving Link mad? (I should have included that in my little rant above haha)
I'd also love to make the pirates in Lurelin something more interesting than just a bunch of Bokoblins, but I'm not there yet. And rebuilding the exact same village was kind of meh.
About the Gerudo questioning their traditions, I'm actually planning for my Ganondorf to be a lot more active and go to Gerudo Town in order to meet his people (I want him to care about them, so he wouldn't attack them the same way he targets the others). I don't have all the details yet but I'm pretty sure there will be a conflict between Riju's supporters and other Gerudo who believe he's their rightful ruler (at first they wouldn't know he's actually that one king who turned into Calamity Ganon). So that's another tradition for them to question.
The consequences of Ganondorf being the only Gerudo male are something I've been wondering about as well. Add to that the fact that he's raised to be king because he's male (and maybe even kind of worshiped by his people) and you get something that can turn nasty real quick. Though I also wonder if Gerudo aren't different from Hylians. You said you hc that the Gerudo are only women because they were cursed so it makes sense that you would view it this way, but on my part I believe that's just how they were created. For that reason I think this is natural for them, so it's possible that it doesn't cause exactly the same problems it would for us or for Hylians.
About Demise, yes of course Ganondorf is more than just Demise's hatred. But in this game it doesn't seem to matter, he kind of turns into a second Demise as soon as he gets his secret stone and his motivations instantly go from conquering/ruling to destroying everything and everyone. They could have done something a lot more nuanced or at least shown a more gradual transition, with him being more and more consumed by his hatred and loosing control for example. I don't know, anything that would look less like a comically caricatural villain riding a demon unicorn.
Also about Demise's curse, I always thought it sounded more like a warning than an actual curse, and I remember reading somewhere that this was the intention in the original Japanese text. In French Demise even says something like "you must never forget, history will repeat itself" instead of "I will rise again", and he and speaks of the curse of the demon tribe (implying that it existed before). Even in English it doesn't sound like Demise himself is casting a curse: "Those like you… Those who share the blood of the Goddess and the spirit of the Hero… They are eternally bound to this curse". He doesn't say "I curse you" or "I bound you to this curse". I feel like this makes a difference (the curse already exists). This is why I interpret it as him basically saying that evil will not die with him and that Link and Zelda/the Hylians as a whole will always have to fight the demon tribe, but not necessarily his reincarnation. So I don't even believe that Demise himself is influencing Ganondorf in any way.
About the Zonai Zelda explains she studied them at the beginning of TotK and recognizes what's depicted on the murals, so it seems strange that sky beings could get mixed with a tribe of barbarians living in the woods. But yeah history getting lost and mixed is the only explanation for this.
Oh you're completely right about the Mogma, I got the same vibe from them! And a Mogma mafia sounds hilarious ^^ I love the Rocktato, Link would definitely eat something like that 😆
I need to take some time to read through your master list, it all looks very promising!

hey darling omg!!! *squeezes you*
im so curious about your pokemon series!! youve got me hooked! a couple questions for ya.
1) fave character headcanons and why??
2) any top-tier whump tropes you absolutely adore??
3) currently so into enyo's storyline!! what are some things youve truly enjoyed writing throughout it and some things you found a little trickier??
4) a certain evil researcher;)))) never ceases to amaze me with her simultaneous wickedness and complexity. is there truly hope for her?? are there any peculiar motives that you want to talk about regarding the direction her character has taken??
5) overall, what would you say keeps enyo going and persevering through so much??
6) are there any future pokemon species you plan on writing for?? why??
no pressure to answer all of these!! just poppin' by to ask for whenever you've got time.
enjoy the rest of your day!! a heart for you in our colors!! hehe💙💕✨love you.
-lina!!
Hellooo!! *squeezes you back*
1) Enyo liking the smell of Lavender. You suggested it at some point and it’s been in the back of my head ever since. Also Olivia/Lidia/Sarah is autistic and she and her brother got really into this one show about a mad scientist (it doesn’t actually exist I made it up) and to this day she has a tendency to copy the mannerisms of the main character in that show. The Trio (Keyo, Ana, and Cheri, for those who don’t know) collecting moms is also pretty funny. As for canon character headcanon favorites, Cyllene (Pokémon legends arceus) is such a mom figure and I love her so much.
2) Burns. Fire. You probably have already realized this but burns. Also it’s less fun for me if whumpee’s on their own, I like character interactions. Defiant whumpee. Make em angry. Make em spiteful. It’s very fun to write And to read.
3) It took me a while to get her backstory worked out. Also it took me a hot minute to figure out whether Whisper (her wife basically) was dead or not
4) At this point, she’s so far gone that Rewriting Time’s the only way to really. Fix it. When the thing with Enyo and the group happens, Lidia had been in jail for like 18 years for being Literally Horrible during the Hisuian story. She had been spiraling deeper and deeper into rage, and there was no coming back from that for her without something big happening to shake her worldview and change her mindset. (Currently debating which should be the catalyst for rewriting time, either Enyo has enough and starts illusioning to look like her brother to make her feel bad or she gets what she wants, kills her parents, and then realizes it wasn’t worth it because she hurt so many people and Pokémon that she’s become just as bad as her parents. Maybe both?) As for the direction she’s taken, she started out as “ooh scary scientist lady I need for plot in Hisuian”, became “scary scientist lady who’s trying to copy the moves of Pokémon with technology”, and then I was like “Why is she like this? What happened to make her act like this? Why isn’t she nice? Why does she do these things? Something in her past made her think it was okay, so what was it?” And then her parents came to mind, and I realized she hates them so much she wants to use the copied moves to kill them. And she wants the hisuian zoro’s malice-fueled attacks for that. And that’s when she became a complex character. She hated her parents so much that she decided to destroy them, but on her way to doing so, she became them. She wasn’t meant to be this complex, she wasn’t meant to be a tragic character, but one thing led to another, and she became my greatest fear: turning into the people you hate the most. Every character I have comes from a piece of me. Lidia is my rage, my thirst for vengeance, and my fear of what will happen if I let that consume me. And to think she started out as just some random evil scientist! It’s fascinating to reflect on.
5) She needs to protect her family- she knows if she gives up, Lidia will end up going after.. probably Cheri first, and she can’t let that happen. She’s fiercely loyal to them, and she would die to make sure they were safe. Or stay alive in the face of impossible odds, like what’s going on with Lidia.
6) Mmmmmaybe? I know in any Pokémon story I write, there’s always gonna be at least one zoro involved, it’s happened since I was little haha. Zoro are the best Pokémon in my opinion. But I do have this one story on the back burner about a girl who rescues Pokémon from bad trainers, there’s only One zoro in that one so far hsjddjkf
Love youuuu ❤️🥰😊
#hisuian fanfic#the unnamed trio fanfic#the trio#Enyo#Sarah/Olivia/Lidia#talking whump#the unnamed fanfic where Caris rescues Pokémon#anyway I have opened asks :D#ask answering#Lina Beloved 💜❤️#oh also if you don’t like whump any whump stuff on this blog will be tagged talking whump but it will never be a main focus here so.#I do have a whump sideblog#it’s fairly inactive but if you want that I can send you there#anyway feel free to ask questions about any of these characters because I have So Much Brainrot it is incredible

Death’s WhiteRose
So for those of you who care DWR or Death’s WhiteRose is the pairing for Ruby Rose/Weiss Schnee/Maria Calavera (young).
I’ve had some people basically ask why ship it at all and so here we go. Please of course remember this is for fun and my own interpretations of things.
Outside of the fact that they’re all pretty, which to be fair they are, I find that they work absurdly well as a trio and have a lot in common.
To start with they’re all huntresses with a missing/deceased mother. Ruby’s mother is dead (at least at the time of writing this) or missing, Weiss’s mother may as well be and hasn’t been her mother in over a decade and in fact is reduced to a laughing shadow in ice queen, and Maria only ever has mention of her father which is listed as unnamed.
These losses have helped shape them into who they are. Weiss strives to be perfect, Ruby strives to help people, and Maria is an interesting mix of both. She helps people and eventually buys into her own hype of being the Grimm Reaper and is the perfect fighter who thinks she doesn’t need others.
Much like Weiss Maria thinks she’s fine enough to stand on her own, but unlike Weiss, Maria didn’t have anyone to help show her that she needs others no matter who skilled you are.
Her hubris leads to her calling herself a failed huntress even after she still manages to kill her attackers but loses her eyes in the process.
The idea of Maria feeling like she has to stand on her own only to be met by someone like Weiss who had the same idea but found solace in her team, and partner Ruby and decides that maybe that’s the thing to try and slowly opens up and starts trusting people and letting them in is a great narrative.
Maria gets to trust and confide in others and see that teamwork does make the dream work, Ruby gets a silver eye mentor, and Weiss gets another silver eyed harem girl. A joke but she gets another person to rely on that has a vested interest in her as a person rather than as her family name as Maria much like Ruby just doesn’t seem to care about things of that nature and they both get a more experienced training partner to help them grow while Maria gets a pair of people who can teach her to work with others, and trust again to make her even better than she was alone.
In another amusing note in music, counterpoint is the relationship between two or more musical lines (or voices) which are harmonically interdependent yet independent in rhythm.
And wouldn’t you know it the three share a counterpoint with their theme songs which at first seems highly improbably until you realize counterpoints aren’t as exact as you’d imagine.
Maria doesn’t have an “official” song but we do have Grimm Reaper which I think we can all agree is basically a stand in for her at this time but if they want to release an official song for her then by all means gimmie.
The first minute of the song is a gentle intro which fits and slots neatly into Weiss’s mirror mirror, and then at around the one minute mark is ramps up into an action beat that syncs well with Red Like Roses II aka Ruby’s song. After that at the end it transitions back to a more somber song.
And of course if you listen to the lyrics much like has been said more openly in Ice Queendom Ruby and Weiss are both very lonely people despite being surrounded by others, and very clearly Maria is as well. She’s spent decades punishing herself for her mistakes and even before then lived alone going around fighting as nothing but a machine.
The idea of the three of them getting a chance to be happy together, of filling in the holes each leaves to make a whole is a great one.
Is it crack because Maria was born decades before them so young Maria isn’t really a thing outside of fanfic? Yes, but I write fanfic, and well who’s to say Weiss’s time glyphs, and Ruby’s semblance don’t have a misadventure and they end up back in time to save Maria from losing her eyes? (Yes I wrote that fic and no I feel no shame about it)
At any rate that doesn’t even get into all the other great ways their fighting styles mesh. With Maria’s up close and personal style and predilection for showboating something both WR have shown before, or birthday significance or the fact that Maria has two weapons (and two hands!)
And again have I mentioned how cute they are?
(Scene from Radio Grimm where Ruby and Maria are playing the Hunters trading card game and Weiss who is new to this is just kinda enjoying being there) Thank @amelia-yap For that one.
So yes it’s basically a crack ship but remember this from the Vol 9 teaser
I’m not saying that has to be maria, but if it is she’s looking mighty taller than before, and the skin is about the right shade.
So if young maria is on the island I think we have a real chance at making crack fic real fic. WHO IS WITH ME?
Write letters to your congressmen today and thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Earth, Sky, and Storms. More like a fanmade sequel but I consider it an AU since I feel like Audrey died at the end in canon- I'm gonna put it on AO3 so I don't want to reveal too much about it
Unnamed Wandersong Flower AU. Pretty similar to canon Wandersong but also drastically different, and I'm also putting this one on AO3 (when I think of a hecking title, that is-) sooo
Over The Garden Wall AU. I actually thought of this just last night while playing Stray, but I really like it already- Kiwi is Greg, Miriam is Wirt, Audrey is Beatrice (except she's a woodpecker and not a bluebird), the Dream King is the Beast, Eyala... idk yet but her being Adelaide would be funny and with Audrey being Beatrice it might make a little sense, and Mask is the tavernkeeper for literally no reason except I felt like it kind of fits
Hollow Knight AU. These are literally my two favorite games and Kiwi loves bugs so it's perfect- Although this has basically no development except Kiwi is a grasshopper, Miriam is a moth, and Audrey is a vessel
D&D AU. This is pretty much just an excuse for Kiwi to get a mind flayer tadpole shoved in their eye because I love mind flayers but it exists and has a little bit of development- Also Kiwi is a bard (obviously), Miriam is a sorcerer, and Audrey is a paladin
The Owl House AU. Literally all I have of this is Kiwi joins the BATTs and Miriam's palisman is a kiwi bird
Vampire Kiwi and werewolf Miriam AU. This was actually my first Wandersong AU but that doesn't mean it's very developed and tbh I just use it to play around with lore for this kind of thing in my various fictional universes- Although basically Kiwi gets bitten by a vampire at some point and panics and tries to keep it a secret from Miriam but she figures it out at some point and then is like "dude you are literally my best (and only) friend why would something like this ruin that"
Spider-themed Audrey-centric AU. I came up with this while vibing to Hello, My Treacherous Friends by OK Go in the car and I genuinely don't know if it's a joke or not but Audrey with eight eyes/limbs and mandibles is super cool and Eyala as a floofy anthropomorphic rainbow tarantula is just plain what more could you want
Ice And Fire (the Minecraft mod) AU. Basically I remembered some old fanfics of mine and impulsively decided to make them but the Sad Pixel Trio instead
Thaumcraft AU. Same deal here (yes I have hyperfixated on Minecraft mods twice. I hyperfixate on random things)
WAIT I ALMOST FORGOT- That AU I posted art of that one time. I think that was my actual first Wandersong AU-
...yeah i have a lot
#you can tell which ones are actually developed by which ones have actual titles/evidence i'm trying to think of a title#wandersong#wandersong au#au#over the garden wall#dungeons and dragons#hollow knight#the owl house#otgw#d&d#hk#toh#raine's wandersong aus#oh yeah i don't think i've mentioned it here but my online name is raine#also it doesn't come from toh#it comes from my first main oc whose name i liked and stole when i changed main ocs#raine whispers hadn't even appeared in toh yet when i started using it wheeze#anyways yeah i'm gonna start tagging my wandersong au stuff with that in case someone is like hmmm this person's aus are cool#it's unlikely but it's possible#unnamed wandersong flower au#earth sky and storms#why is this so long#wanderbloom

Better Now
A Bla/ck Tap/es podcast sickfic.
I have so many wonderful prompts in my inbox but the only thing I wanted to write was this wildly self-indulgent and overly long fic that's jam-packed with all my favorite tropes. I blame @matilda3948 for her recent amazing Dr. Strand sickfics for inspiration and @sanquintina for getting me into the podcast in the first place
This is technically Bl/ack Ta/pes fanfic, but you don't need to know anything about the series other than Dr. Strand is a persnickety, serious, stoic, skeptic with a very deep voice and troubled past.
Set after the end of the series as it stands currently and written in 1st person from the perspective of Strand's unnamed female partner. Could be Alex if you want, could be someone else with whom Strand finally found happiness and contentment. I kept that part generic on purpose.
Richard Strand is many things, but clumsy isn't one of them. So naturally I had to go investigate when early one morning I was startled by the sound of a tea mug shattering on the floor followed by a hastily bitten-off swear word.
In the kitchen I found my husband, the world renowned Dr. Strand, kneeling on the floor mopping up spilled tea. He glanced up with a sniffle as he heard me approach.
"Had it too close to the edge. At least it missed my pants. I think I got all the ceramic bits, but be careful."
His voice was even deeper than usual, low and gravelly from the cold he'd been developing over the past few days. That, paired with his heavy, reddened eyes and generally haggard appearance, gave me concern.
"You look like you hardly slept. How are you feeling?"
"I tossed and turned a bit last night. Couldn't get comfortable."
"Couldn't breathe I think would be more accurate. You were snoring and breathing through your mouth all night."
He sat back on his heels and frowned. "Sorry if I kept you up."
"You don't have to apologize. I'm just worried about you," I added as he winced when he stood, massaging the space between his eyebrows.
He shot me another irritated glance. "I'm fine. I just have a bit of a cold." I couldn't help but notice the weary slump of his shoulders, however. Even his suit looked less crisp than usual.
I summoned all my wifely tact and tried to make my voice persuasive: "Maybe you should stay home. You don't look like you'll be much use to anyone today."
He made an annoyed sound. "That's very unnecessary. I'm not staying home for a cold."
I looked pointedly out the window where a chilly November rain was pouring down steadily. "You really want to go out into that when you have a perfectly valid excuse not to?"
He too glanced out the window. After a moment he shook his head and cleared his throat, meeting my eyes again. "I'll be fine. It's just a little rain."
He headed toward the door, massaging his forehead once more.
"Don't you want your tea?"
"Oh, right." He whirled around quickly, grabbed the thermos, and headed toward the door again with a wet sniffle. I could only roll my eyes and sigh as the door closed behind him.
Most workdays I left after him and returned before him, and this Thursday was no exception. The rain was still pouring down when I arrived home from work that evening. I decided dinner was going to be vegetable stew and biscuits, not only for his cold, but also because I wanted some rainy November comfort food. Everything was nearly ready when I heard him coming up the steps. He opened the door, bringing with him a chilly gust, and I turned to greet him, but instead my mouth dropped open a bit at the sight of him.
His hair and clothes were completely soaked with rain, to the point of dripping puddles onto the floor as I watched, and he was visibly shivering, something I'd never seen him do before. Inexplicably, he was also shaking the loose drops off of his soaked umbrella, his expression drawn and miserable. I was noticing how diminished he seemed when suddenly his breath hitched violently:
"HehZIHH'shiew! HrrUUHHZchoo! HehhGIHH'nkkchoo!"
I rushed to his side, relieving him of his umbrella and briefcase and pulling his sodden coat off of him as he slumped down onto the nearby stool. Beneath the coat, his suit was nearly just as wet and cold.
"Oh, Richard, bless you! You're soaked to the skin. Ugh, and your hands are freezing. How did you manage to get so drenched?"
"A w-woman and her ch-children were w-waiting for the b-bus without c-coats. I held my umbrella f-for them until it c-came," he said, his teeth chattering and his lips blue with cold.
I toweled off his hair and clothes as best as I could before helping him undress. Any other day he would have brushed me off, saying he was perfectly capable of doing that himself. The fact that he allowed me to assist him spoke volumes to how poorly he felt.
I was behind him, trying to peel off his sodden linen shirt when he lurched forward for another volley of sneezes:
"HrrUUSCHH! HnnxXT! HHGGTchh!"
"Bless you again, poor love. You've made your cold worse going out in this," I gently chastised.
"I'm f-fine," he sniffled, still barely able to speak around his shivering. Yet he leaned back against me wearily as I removed his undershirt and replaced it with a blanket, and I thought I heard the softest hint of a groan.
I used my fingers to comb his disheveled hair, but frowned when I felt his forehead. "You're running a fever. You weren't feverish this morning."
He merely shrugged, wordlessly asking me to continue massaging his scalp, which I did. Slowly his shivers subsided, but he was clearly exhausted, and sniffled wetly every few moments.
"You look like you could use a hot drink and a warm bed," I said eventually.
"I'd start with a hot shower," came the mumbled reply.
"Hmm… what about a hot bath? I was thinking of taking one myself tonight, and I'm willing to share. No reason to waste the hot water. Dinner will keep for a bit longer."
He turned slightly, giving me a curious look. It wasn't that we had never bathed together before, but it was usually under very different circumstances. However, I happened to know my husband craved physical touch when he wasn't feeling well, though he would never ask for it. I was simply making life easier on both of us by preemptively offering it.
"I suppose that might be nice," he finally said. "But I'm very tired…."
I kissed his cheek. "No strings attached. Bath only. Then dinner and sleep. No funny business, I promise."
He relaxed slightly. "That's fine then."
"Good. Let me go run the water." I kissed his hair once more, then headed to the bathroom. He joined me there with a cup of tea after a few minutes. While the oversized tub finished filling, he leaned in the doorway, rubbing the back of his neck and looking distant and hazy, not to mention sick.
I shimmied off my clothes and slid into the water, gesturing for him to join me. He sluggishly obeyed, hampered in finishing his own undressing by his dripping nose. He set his mug of tea and a handkerchief on the little table beside the tub, then slid into the water in front of me.
His sigh of ecstasy as the hot water surrounded him was exactly what I hoped to hear, and he leaned back against me readily with a satisfied groan.
"Better?" I murmured in his ear.
"Much," came the rumbling reply, followed of course by a sniffle.
I pressed my lips into his hair again and again. He hardly moved as the heat soaked into him. I let my nails trail all over his skin and gave him a gentle massage, trying to help him relax, a feat he was rarely able to accomplish on his own
"Would you like me to wash your hair?" I murmured after a while.
He gave the barest nod in reply. Wordlessly I did just that, something else he would never consider allowing in any other circumstance.
I kept the soap far from his face, but the fragrance still had its way with him. I had nearly all the suds rinsed out when he suddenly jerked forward and leaned over the edge of the tub.
GihhIIISSHH'UH! Hhigg'CHUH! HihYEHSH'ooo!" He directed the spray as far away from me as he could, grabbing for the handkerchief to catch as much of the mess as possible. He mopped his face with a growl as he slid back into the water, but the spell was broken. He fidgeted against me, sniffling in irritation again and again as I finished rinsing his hair.
I suppressed a disappointed sigh. "You might feel better if you went and laid down now that you're warmed up. Get yourself a bowl of soup while I finish up here."
He grunted his assent, lifting himself out of the water and quickly toweling off as he began to shiver again right away. He donned his robe, took his tea, and went to get his supper.
The evening came to a quick close after that. Richard ate a small portion of soup, drank two mugs of tea, and refused any medication, but did little else. He wouldn't be described as loquacious on his best day, but he spoke even less than usual. The only noise he made was the occasional soft cough or explosive trio of sneezes and his perpetual sniffles as he attempted his usual evening reading. His eyes never lost their weary, hazy look though, and he was constantly shaking his head or wiping a knuckle under his nose, so I wondered how much he was actually absorbing.
When I suggested we go to bed, he didn't argue though, which was very unlike him. He fell into bed wearily, and it seemed he was asleep even before his head hit the pillow. I silently wished to myself as I drifted to sleep that he would either be recovered in the morning, or else have the sense to stay home if he was worse.
~~~~~~~~~~
Richard's alarm went off at the usual hour the next morning, and he shut it off right away. Normally he was out of bed in moments, but today he lingered, pulling the blankets closer around himself with a little groan.
I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep, but he continued to shift restlessly. After a moment, I heard him take a wheezy inhale and then break into a coughing fit, wet and hoarse. I turned to look at him again. He was on his back now, with an arm flung over his eyes.
"Aww, love," I murmured. "You ok?"
"I'm not feeling quite like myself," came the mumbled reply.
I reached out to stroke his cheek, letting my hand rest on his neck where I could feel his hugely swollen lymph nodes. He was well and truly sick now, and he needed to stay home from work. However, I couldn't be the one to suggest that, or else he would turn me down immediately and insist he was fine, as he had the day before. It needed to be his idea. I went with a different approach.
I nestled close to his side, kissing his shoulder softly. I could tell he was still feverish even through his clothes. "Busy day today?" I murmured.
He grunted wearily. I couldn't tell if it was affirmative or negative.
"I packed a big bowl of soup for your lunch. I hope it's enough to keep you full through the whole day. And don't forget, I'll meet you at your coworker's reception tonight. Was there anything I needed to bring to that?"
He slowly uncovered his face. "I was… actually considering staying home from work. It shouldn't be busy today, I can afford to miss. And… I'm really not feeling well at all. I'll make our excuses to John about his reception.
I did a silent victory dance in my head. "Oh, are you sure? I thought you had some important meetings."
"Nothing that can't be rescheduled." He cracked a red eye open, glancing at me suspiciously. "Why? Do you want me to go in?"
I shrugged nonchalantly, kissing him again. "I want you to do what you think is best. If you're not feeling well, you ought to stay home so you don't risk getting other people sick though."
"I suppose." He coughed hoarsely again, rubbing his chest with a grimace. "Yes, I'll stay home today. Let me call Carol and John."
He slowly stood and made his unsteady way to his phone, sniffling and coughing the whole way. The two phone conversations were very brief, for he hardly had to try to make a case for his illness, congested and hoarse as he clearly was. After he finished the calls, he shuffled back to bed immediately, heaping the blankets back over himself with a shuddering cough. I rubbed his back as he got settled.
"Can I get you anything, hon? Water, medicine?"
He shook his head. "Going to try to sleep this off," he mumbled, sleep already (or still?) heavy in his voice.
I knew medicine would almost certainly help his endeavors at sleeping. At minimum it would improve the quality of his sleep. However, I also knew he was stubborn about such things, so I didn't press the issue yet. "Alright." I kissed his hot cheek gently. "Then I'll leave you be for now. Let me know if you need anything. Sleep well."
I made the bed around him, straightening my side and tucking him in, then quietly left. The sound of his deep snores followed me out. So much for me sleeping in today.
He emerged again later that morning. I didn't notice him at first when he did, though. I had my headphones in and was dancing around while dusting. Turning around, I almost bumped into him, scaring us both. I yanked my headphones off right away, taking in his disheveled, sickly, blanket-wrapped appearance.
"You're awake! I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come out."
"Clearly," he rasped with the tiniest ghost of a smile. "You stayed home too?"
"It's my normal Friday off."
"Right, right," he sniffled. He then shuffled to the couch, collapsing onto it with a yawn. I went to sit beside him, unable to keep the concern from my face. I felt his forehead again, noting how he wearily leaned into the touch. I was forced to jump back though as he erupted into a volley of thick, chesty coughs.
I sighed, surveying him with worry. "You're running quite the fever, love. And the cold has obviously settled into your chest now too."
He nodded limply with another sniffle.
"I'm not taking no for an answer this time, I'm giving you medicine and you're going to take it."
He managed to fix me with a condescending look. "Medication for a cold is essentially pointless. It just treats the symptoms."
"You think making yourself more comfortable is pointless?"
He opened his mouth to answer, or so I thought, but instead he lurched forward into a trio of wet, spraying sneezes:
"Heh'YEISSHH'oo! YEEIISH'uuh! Gih'HIH-shoo! --ugh…" The forceful snapping motion of his head when he sneezed looked incredibly painful, so much so that he pressed the heels of his hands to his forehead with a groan in the aftermath.
"Bless you, hon!" I waited a beat as he composed himself. "So… what was it again you were saying about the futility of treating the symptoms?" I asked, admittedly snidely.
He only grunted softly. I couldn't keep the smug look from my face when he met my eyes once more. However, seeing how thoroughly miserable he was reawakened my sympathy immediately. I reached out to caress his hair and cheek yet again.
"How about I make you some tea, yeah? And maybe a bowl of soup?"
"Please," he mumbled.
"Coming right up."
Another round of his thick, exhausting coughs followed me into the kitchen, and I couldn't help but wince in sympathy, even though he couldn't see me.
In a matter of minutes I had his meal ready. When I brought it back out to him, I placed the soup on the table and dropped a handful of pills and a capful of medication beside the bowl with a meaningful look. His only reply was a small frown. I resumed my seat beside him and was about to hand him the steaming mug when an idea occurred to me.
"Is your throat hurting badly?"
He nodded heavily with a little scowl, as if he hated being reminded of it.
"Here, this may help a bit." I raised the mug to the level of his neck, pressing it against his visibly enlarged lymph node.
His eyes widened and he half-jumped back from the initial sensation.
"Trust me for a sec," I said gently, placing it against the swelling once more.
He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth, but allowed it. After a moment though he visibly loosened. Making a sound between a whimper and a groan, he leaned harder against the heat.
"Better?"
"Mhmmmm," he sighed.
After another moment I switched to the other side of his neck and repeated the process. He angled himself here and there to get the most heat coverage over the tender areas. Finally I slid the mug into his hands, kissing his forehead.
"Thank you," he breathed. "That was… relieving."
"You're very welcome. Now, can I do anything else for you at the moment?"
"I'm fine. You don't need to fuss."
"I may not have to, but I want to, first because you're my husband and second because I know you're not 'fine.' But if you're going to insist you are, I'm going to go fold some laundry. Holler if you need anything. Or cough loudly if that's easier."
That earned me a Dr. Strand signature, the 'amused huff.' "I will. Thank you again."
"No thanks necessary." He received another kiss to the temple before I stood and headed to the laundry room with a last pointed look at the medicine. It occurred to me as I walked away that I was likely giving him an overabundance of kisses considering how contagious he clearly was, but he was just so darn pitiful.
Twenty minutes later, I returned to check on him, bringing a glass of water as well. The tea mug and soup bowl sat empty on the coffee table, surrounded by a few scattered tissues. The medicine was untouched. The doctor was huddled to one side of the couch with another tissue held loosely in his hand and one pajama-clad leg tucked under him, staring listlessly at the wall. However, at the sound of my footsteps he stirred with a sickly sniffle, scrubbing a hand over his face wearily. I smiled in greeting, and though he didn't return the smile, he did brighten a bit upon seeing me.
"What were you contemplating so deeply just now? You looked very lost in thought," I asked, handing him the water, then tidying up his little mess on the coffee table, leaving the pills.
He huffed a humorless laugh, looking self-conscious as he fiddled with the glass. "I was actually imagining how extensive the trial and error process must have been to determine how best to brew tea versus brewing coffee versus, for example, brewing beer. Roasting the ingredients versus drying versus fresh versus ground and boiling versus steeping versus fermenting. The amount of time that must have been necessary to perfect something so simple is rather astounding," he rasped, with many sniffles and throat-clearings thrown in.
I raised an eyebrow at him curiously. Aimless ramblings about random topics were not the norm for my painfully disciplined husband. "It is astounding I guess. I'd never thought about that before. Anyway, how are you feeling after eating?"
"I'm fine," he said, finally setting down the untouched water, though the nasty cough that immediately followed his statement contradicted him.
This time I audibly sighed. "You do realize that you saying you're fine all the time is very counterproductive to helping me assess your needs? You don't have to be fine, love."
He gave me an odd look. "Conceptually, I know that. But you have to remember, for a long time I *did* have to be 'fine.' I didn't have the option to be otherwise. You, all of this… still feels like a new development or a dream at times. Old habits die hard, I suppose."
I sat on the arm of the couch beside him. He wordlessly leaned in toward me so I could lightly run my fingernails over his scalp. He softly groaned in pleasure.
"I'm not going to waste my breath telling you that I'm not going anywhere and I'm here for you, because you already know that. So I suppose I'll just have to keep showing you."
I went to press a kiss to his head, but I caught a glimpse of his face and changed my mind when I saw he was about to sneeze.
"Gihh'chuuh! Hehh'choof! Ghnxt'choo!"
The sneezes were brisk and wet and left him breathless. He blew his nose with a wince before he spoke. "Sorry, could you repeat that? I missed most of it," he said, sounding stuffy and a little peeved.
I chuckled and complied, going for the kiss this time. He had no reply, but instead leaned against me wearily as I massaged his neck, yawning deeply.
"You should rest again, love. Take a nap if you can. It's either that or watch TV, which you'll never do. I'm not sure you should attempt much else."
He wrinkled his nose. "I hate being so unproductive. I don't want to sleep the day away."
"Sleeping when you're sick isn't being unproductive, it's being wise."
"HehhGIH'choo! HEHHH-choo! Hihhh'YESSHH'uuhh!"
I was quite sure he didn't hear most of my statement, since he sneezed right in the middle of it. With a pitiful sound he tended to his nose yet again as I blessed him earnestly. Eventually his watery, heavy lidded eyes met mine. I couldn't help but notice yet again how flushed and disheveled he was and how utterly pathetic he looked, quite the opposite of his usual cool, collected self.
"Guh. Sorry. What was that?" he asked with a pathetic sniffle, sounding very annoyed now.
"Aww, your nose. You really are sick, huh? Poor guy," I said, continuing to stroke his hair.
He looked slightly offended. "You were having doubts about that?"
I rolled my eyes good-naturedly. "It's just something you say, dear.
"I'm aware of the colloquialism," he grumped. "But I find it a very odd one. And it's never been directed at me before."
"There's a first time for everything, then."
I was rubbing his back now. He yawned again, grimacing after, I assumed due to the sore throat. I also noticed he was starting to shiver.
"Ok, now seriously, tell me what I need to do to convince you to nap."
"I'm not sure," he said with a chesty cough, nestling deeper into the couch.
"Hmm. I accept that challenge."
"And what challenge is that?"
"You won't tell me what I can do to help you, and perhaps you don't even know yourself, so I have to figure that out for both of us."
"I don't think there's anything I need though."
"You need to sleep."
He rolled his eyes with an annoyed huff, but I could tell he knew I was right.
I stood and went to put some smooth jazz on the record player in the room. Sitting down again, this time on the couch on the other side of him, I gestured to my lap.
"Come lie down."
"Wait-- lie down… right there?"
"Correct."
"Why?"
"Because you love hair scratches and neck rubs, so I'm making it easier to give them to you. Also you're apparently freezing and need to share some body heat."
He frowned, suppressing his shivers as best he could. Still, I knew he wouldn't be able to resist for long, tired and miserable as he was. Sure enough, after a moment he slowly levered himself down with a resigned sigh.
I quickly threw a blanket over him, and then began the hair scratches. He made a tiny, appreciative sound.
"Better?"
"Mm," he grunted.
"Good. But you're sweating, love," I murmured.
"I'm not sure how since I'm freezing," he mumbled with a cough.
"Your fever is higher. I can feel it just by touching you."
He groaned, snuggling deeper against me.
I massaged his neck for a while longer, trying to ease the tension from his muscles. He continued to be restless though, and apparently unable to regulate his body temperature. One moment he would be shaking with chills pulling the blanket closer, and then the next kicking it away from his legs with a moan of discomfort.
The final straw for me was when he was overcome with yet another hacking coughing fit, curling in on himself miserably, trying to muffle it into his arm, the other hand clutching his chest.
Before he settled again, I leaned forward to grab the untouched pile of medication and glass of water from the coffee table. When he was again lying against me, I wordlessly held it out to him. He of course made a sound of irritation.
"Why are you being so stubborn? You need to sleep, and you can't sleep in the state you're in, at least not well. This will help your headache, fever, sore throat, everything so you can rest. I can tell you're exhausted."
After a final moment of consideration, he held out a reluctant hand. I handed him the items and he swallowed them without comment.
Neither of us spoke again for a long time, and didn't move from our places. I soothingly stroked his hair or rubbed his back, putting myself in a trance almost as much as him.
I could see the medication talking effect. His restlessness slowly eased along with his coughing. It seemed I could even feel his body temperature decreasing.
"Hnnkkt'CHUH! Hehgg'CHUHH! EHHG'choo!"
Just as I thought he was asleep, his body twitched with a trio of sneezes, the quality of which could only be described as lazy--slow, thick, and dulled. They hardly seemed to stir him from his stupor.
"Bless you. Are you ok?"
" 'm fine," he croaked tiredly. We were both quiet for a while, then he spoke up again. "You know, one of the reasons I keep saying I'm fine is because I can't begin to describe what an improvement it is to be with you while being sick compared to being sick in bed alone. The difference is as drastic as night and day--better doesn't begin to describe it. Asking for anything more than what I already have just by your being here feels selfish."
Richard would never express such sentiments under normal circumstances, and hearing it said so plainly overwhelmed me with emotion. Yet I knew he wouldn't want me to reply in kind. He would prefer to state his piece and let it be. And indeed, I saw his eyes drooping heavier by the second, so I kept my thoughts to myself for now, but leaned over to plant a series of kisses all over his hot face.
He hardly moved and didn't respond even when I finally stopped, but I couldn't help but notice the tiny smile playing around his lips as he drifted off to sleep.
re: Still unnamed Colony AU
Decided to throw everyone into a Minecraft world just to make it easier to map. This style of world may be heavily-familiar to a couple of the characters, depending on my final picks.
I don’t plan to have it heavily gameified. Things won’t actually be square. Food saturation doesn’t heal you. There’s not an “inventory”. There might be respawning? Haven’t decided yet.
I’ve already picked out a large biomes world and an area in it to drop people.
Now I just have to finalize my character list...
I’ve made two short lists so far. One from my Wynnverse timeslines and one from my older OCs and original projects. There are some canon characters from various media (anime) already in those, as Wolfwood and Roy are both heavily tied into a lot of Wynn’s timelines. But I haven’t yet made the “characters from various media canons and fanfic of those media that I like” yet.
To go briefly over my potential picks from my older OCs and original works...
Forest’s Shadow: A sapient non-human I usually list as a “youkai” when I’m writing character lists. Not because she precisely is one, but because it’s a better term for what she is than others available to me. She’s a horse-sized vaguely canid creature who was going to be one of the main characters in a book I never wrote, where her and a young boy from a Native-American inspired tribe(1) who lost his tribe for plot reasons together gather a following and start a new family that expands into a tribe. Oh gee look there’s those same interests that are leading me to write this very fic right now. (1) This would be set on an alternate earth so no actual real tribes that exist or used to exist on our world would be present. Also it would be set in a time period comparable to thousands of years ago on our world so...
“Roach” (Michael Bradley): Well-off pothead with the coloring of a super-saiyan. His plotline was about him no longer being able to afford his house payments on his own so he gets a roommate who ended up being my self-insert. Basically a dumb self-insert sitcom character. One of my very rare straight male characters. Kind of bland to describe? But I’m fond of him. Nicknamed Roach because of the “pothead” thing. I always think of him as Roach and have to remind myself that his actual name is Michael. His story actually has a title: “Fish and Houseguests”. After the saying “Fish and Houseguests stink after 3 days”, referring to people overstaying their welcome. Thus indicating my long pattern of many of my own characters being supremely unimpressed with me.
Three characters from the same story now: Nathanial Sebastian Creighton (prefers Sebastian, thanks). Keneth Weaver Darlene Gothe A trio of college students from a comic I never drew a ton of titled “Something About Slugs” (an intentional non-sequitur). Sebastian is a rich gay guy whose homophobic parents sent him to college in another country so he could go and be weird and gay and artsy over there where he won’t be publicly visible and embarrass the family. Basically, he gets an allowance to keep his head down and pretend he’s not related to them. Very angtsy. Tall and thin and has super strength. Is a pacifist precisely because of the super strength -- he’s terrified he’ll seriously hurt someone by mistake. Suuuuper pretentious artist. Avoids speaking with contractions and gets poetic when drunk. Favorite forms of art are theatre and painting. He likes to dress in a black trenchcoat with a black sweater under it, even when it’s hot. Always wears long sleeves to hide his self-harm scars from when he was younger. I don’t have enough words for how much I enjoy tormenting this boy and making him chew on his own complicated emotions. :p I have a whole comic where I just drew him talking to a crucified Jesus statue about how he felt about the concept of God and his opinion on “love the sin, hate the sinner”. He is. So fun for me. Keneth Weaver is one of the middle children of a large family with many siblings. Very good at deescalating between his two best friends who... do not get along with each other. :p Always dresses in a puffy winter jacket with a warm knit hat (which he tucks his long blond hair up into) because he frequently gets cold chills. Is an absolute sweetheart and is the one of the trio most likely to go feral and punch a mofo for messing with his friends. Has not yet realized that he’s bi and falling for his best friend Sebastian. Everyone thinks he’s going to get into some nurturing care field of study but ends up getting into law from an idealistic desire to defend the disenfranchised. Darlene Gothe is... aptly named. She’s got a “slutty witch” aesthetic, liking to wear black dresses with ratty bottom hems and her cleavage out and swirly black eye makeup. Self-describes as “playfully bitchy”. Sebastian thinks she hates him because she’s constantly insulting and teasing him because she thinks it’s fun to play with him because of his dry sarcastic whit. So she’s just having fun and he thinks she’s being intentionally mean. Keneth sometimes gets so exhausted dealing with these two, but he does love them both. While Sebastian struggles with his complicated feelings for his disapproving parents, her parents are very supportive of her, but she just doesn’t emotionally connect with them and struggles to understand why family is so important to Sebastian and Keneth. Part of her trouble with sincere emotional connection is from school trauma. She was bullied through grade and highschool and coped with it by becoming sarcastically disconnected and prickly (hence “playfully bitchy”). I’m never going to end up writing the comic for these three but I love them so much.
Um. I’mma cut this off here and reblog my own post with the next batch of characters because I’m not even halfway through.
My FanFic compilation
I figured I have written quite a lot over the years and especially this year, that putting together something like this, that has everything I’ve written so far in one place all organized would be a good idea! So please! Enjoy!
There’s quite a lot so they’ll all be listed under the read more, They’re all organized by series (fairy tail, swtor, mass effect, dragon age, greedfall, anthem, and smut fics) as well as by pair with a short description, starting with the first fic I wrote (fairy tail) and the latest (fictober 2020 prompts) :D
Fairy Tail: (Leading off with this because it’s my first ever fic) -Shall We Dance, Pair: Laxus/Lucy: 38 chapters, Finished https://archiveofourown.org/works/4351550/chapters/9870611
Swtor: Main fic: -Breaking the Bad News (aka BTBN), multi-pair, main focus is shan trio: currently 70 chapters, Ongoing. https://archiveofourown.org/works/9340892/chapters/21164699
Side Fics: Kara Hawke’s Backstory(s):
Pre-Class story: -A Smuggler’s Tyr, no pairing, intro to Kara’s first crew: Currently 1 chapter, Complete (Might add more eventually)
During Class Story: -Adventure of a Lifetime, no pairing focus but will mention Darmas, meant to build on what we have of the in game class story: Currently 1 chapter, hiatus (plan to work on more with 2021)
Post Class Story: -Hawke Legacy: While Kara Sleeps, mentioned Theron/Kara, focus’s on Koro delivering the news of Marr’s ship being attacked to Theron. 1 chapter, Complete -Downtime, Theron/Kara, Post arrival on Odessen but prior to chapter 9 on kotfe, 1 chapter, complete -Desert Reunion, Theron/Kara, Introducing Kara’s dad and bringing him into the Alliance, 3 chapters, complete -A Moment, Theron/Kara, but starting to poke at the idea of Arcann being involved, 1 chapter, complete
Prompts: -Fictober 2018, day 1: Can you feel this?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, post-umbara/pre-copero so theron’s only mentioned -Fictober 2018, day 3: How can I trust you?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, post-Nathema, and a bit on the trio +kids, dealing with Theron’s return -Fictober 2018, day 5: Take what you need, mentioned Kara/Caleb (her first husband from her original crew), takes place before the class stories, short story about a job she had done -Fictober 2018, day 6: I’ve heard enough, this ends now. Kara/Arcann (sometime pre-nathema so sorry Theron’s not really in this one), bit of covering a reoccuring nightmare Kara had for a few months -Fictober 2018, day 7: No Worries, we still have time, Kara/Arcann/Theron (Arcann’s not present tho, just mentioned), little bit of the pair of workaholics +kids taking a break -Fictober 2018, day 12/13: Who could do this/Try harder next time, Kara/Arcann/Theron & Koren/Trey (Will have this in both pairs), sometime post-nathema probably, little adventure with Kara involving having to save her sons -Prompt: I Care about You, Theron/Kara, little bit of a rebuild of their kotfe reuinion -Prompt: Come Cuddle, Kara/Arcann/Theron, Short fluff story of one of their movie nights with some bad jokes -Promptless idea: Arcann Singing, Kara/Arcann/Theron, I’ve always had this idea that Arcann can sing at least as well as Senya does, so here’s a bit of him singing to kara’s boys, and also kara. -Fictober 2019, day 2: Just Follow me, I know the area, Kara/Arcann mainly, post onslaught so Theron’s involved but just not featured in this prompt. Little bit of a romantic night out. -Fictober 2019, day 3: Now? Now you listen to me?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, follow-up to the fictober 2018 day 6 prompt, and resolution to the chronic nightmares Kara was having -Fictober 2020, day 7: Yes I did, what about it?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, post-nathema, small bit of theron and kara heart to heart about a choice she made (involving Valss because I’m still bitter we didn’t get a save option for him) and both prosthetic users in the trio are sore (maybe there’s a storm moving in) -Fictober 2020, day 15: Not interested, thank you, Kara/Arcann/Theron (Arcann isn’t present for this), one of a handful of reminders that Kara and Theron are parents, connor just really wants to make his lightsaber -Fictober 2020, day 18: You don’t see it?, Kara/Arcann/Theron (post umbara pre Nathema so theron is only mentioned), something of a pep-talk from arcann.
Nora Hawke/Mikael Hawke: -That Time Back When We First Met, backstory on how my sith warrior and pub trooper met before they started their relationship: currently 2 chapters, hiatus (plan to work on more with 2021) -Fictober 2018, day 4: Will that be all?, little bit after they first met, can be considered a continuation chapter... technically
Koren Gates/Trey Hawke: -Fictober 2018, day 2: People Like you have no imagination, Koren/Trey & Shey/Torian (will put it for both pairs), little adventure of my bounty hunter squad +sith BF -Fictober 2018, day 12/13: Who could do this/Try harder next time, Kara/Arcann/Theron & Koren/Trey (Will have this in both pairs), sometime post-nathema probably, little adventure with Kara involving having to save her sons -Fictober 2020, day 13: I missed this, Koren/Trey, bit of fluff between my overly caring hunter who could use a day off and his grump of a sith boyfriend. -Fictober 2020, day 28: Do I have to do everything here?, Kara/Arcann/Theron, Arcann and Koth decide to play a co-op holonet game, with only minor arguing. -Fictober 2020, day 30: Just say it, Kara/Arcann/Theron, Kara gets a little time to herself and the trio’s weekly movie night ends up being a bit more than just the three of them.
Shey Shen/Torian Cadera: -Fictober 2018, day 2: People Like you have no imagination, Koren/Trey & Shey/Torian (will put it for both pairs), little adventure of my bounty hunter squad +sith BF -Prompt: I’m Right Where I Belong, Shey/Torian sometime post kotet, a rare time that I bring up the fact that she has amnesia and still can’t remember anything prior to about 2 years prior to the class stories starting. -Prompt: ... out of habit (kiss), former Shey/Koro mention as well as Shey/Torian, because Koro is a mess and while him and Shey have been divorced for years habits die hard. -Fictober 2020, day 8: I’m not doing that again, Shey/Torian & Kurana/Andronikos (will be under both pairs), Little bit of a fun idea of who would win in a fight, our dear pirate or mando
Kurana Knight/Andronikos Revel: -Prompt: One Falling Asleep with their head in the other’s lap, Kurana/Andronikos, I keep thinking of this prompt now and then because writing Niko being soft for his wife is a lot of fun. -Fictober 2020, day 8: I’m not doing that again, Shey/Torian & Kurana/Andronikos (will be under both pairs), Little bit of a fun idea of who would win in a fight, our dear pirate or mando
Lyra Hawke/Doc: -Fictober 2020, day 1: No, Come Back!, Lyra/Doc, little adventure on an unnamed planet that I honestly love the idea of -Fictober 2020, day 6: That was Impressive, Lyra/Doc, Another little adventure of information gathering featuring Kara’s youngest son, Connor. -Fictober 2020, day 22: And neither should you, Lyra/Doc, little bit of fluff and doc trying to get his wife to take a day off
Ren Hawke/Vinn Atrius: -Fictober 2020, day 9: Will you Look at this?, Ren/Vinn, I need to write more of them outside of btbn so this was a start to hopefully more building on my didn’t plan to ship this as strongly as I ended up doing pair.
Ava Reiner/Jonas Balkar: -Fictober 2020, day 20: Did I ask?, Ava/Jonas, Small job featuring a couple of SIS agents, and including a bounty hunter I got attached to in a hurry.
Kyri Dennan/Arn Peralun: -Fictober 2020, day 21: This, this makes it all worth it, Kyri/Arn, little build up for another pair that I didn’t expect to get attached to, featuring some implant maintanence.
Airi/Theron (one off because disaster spy/spy pairing I had to write at least once): -Admittance, 1 chapter, complete
WoW: Aulara Stormdawn/Kieran Grimmarrow: -Lunar Eclipse, (Technically my first fic but I didn’t post it until after Shall We Dance), A story involving Aulara (an orphaned night elf priestess), Koren Haven (her brother from the orphanage, a human paladin), Kieran (a blood elf noble, hunter who doesn’t have much people skills), and the friends they meet including Rokar an old orc shaman and Sen a orc huntress, that navigates through the warcraft story starting with vanilla wow. Currently 7 chapters, on hiatus but planning on picking it up again in 2021! -Fictober 2020, day 4: That didn’t stop you before, Aulara/Kieran, A quest during Legion and a bit of a flashback from one of their first quests together around when they first started fighting side by side during BC -Fictober 2020, day 25: Sometimes you can even see, Aulara/Kieran, The burning of Teldrassil and Kieran deciding he’s willing to risk everything he’s ever known to be with his wife. Koren is there to give him a hand. -Fictober 2020, day 26: How about you trust me for once?, Aulara/Kieran, early BC before they became a couple, Kieran and Aulara get a moment to talk alone in Nagrand, involves something close to an awkward confession. >:3
Shey Wrynn/Varian Wrynn: -Prompt: Are you testing me?, Shey/Varian, post WoD but pre-Legion, little walk through elwynn turning into an adventure between the king and his wife, Shey is not amused when he charges in head first. -Fictober 2020, day 2: That’s the easy part, Shey/Varian, mid to late WoD, bit of fluff while planning the push towards hellfire citadel, bit of fluff and bit of proposal. >:3 -Fictober 2020, day 10: All I ever wanted, Shey/Varian, post-BFA Pre-Shadowlands, proof I can write at least a little bit angsty, some platonic Shey & Anduin. -Fictober 2020, day 16: I never wanted anything else, Shey/Varian, something short around late Cata early MoP involving Shey having a birthday. -Fictober 2020, day 27: Give me that, Shey/Varian, probably what I consider the most ooc i’ve written him but honestly i had a lot of fun writing them being dorks. -Fictober 2020, day 31: I trust you, Shey/Varian, sometime early Cata soon after they started a relationship. The one and probably only time I’ll ever mention Shey’s old house, and a touch on the fact that i’m 100% certain that Varian would try and sneak out of the city time to time.
Shey & Anduin (platonic, it’s always platonic/familial between them) -Fictober 2020, day 19: I can’t do this anymore, Shey & Anduin, because sometimes a girl just needs to sneak her son out of the city to give him a break and maybe check out a ruin or something.
Shey Wrynn/Aethas Sunreaver: -Prompt: By your side, Shey/Aethas. Post legion, a bit of a moment between them early BFA. I started writing them as a potential pair before settling as friends with benefits that might form into more, so this is a possible hinting at them becoming “more”
Mass Effect: John Shepard/Kaidan Alenko: -Prompt: War’s End Kiss, Shenko, Post ME3 when they’re just a couple of retired old soldiers and John’s slowly recovering from his injuries from the final push. -Fictober 2019, day 4: I know you didn’t ask for this, Shenko, Post ME3, a bit of a heart to heart between them and tending to slowly healing injuries. -Fictober 2020, day 3: You did this?, Shenko, Post ME3, Kaidan runs across some old footage of John over the years from before they met to the reaper war. -Fictober 2020, day 14: You better leave now, Shenko, during ME3, short mission against a hold out of mercs, featuring James. -Fictober 2020, day 24: Are you kidding me?, Shenko, during ME3 probably, featuring Kaidan “my headache doesn’t hurt that bad” Alenko and John “please just take a nap” Shepard. -Fictober 2020, day 29: Back up!, Shenko, during ME3, mission to clear out a cerberus warehouse including some battle flirting and James lending a gun.
Scott Ryder/Gil Brodie: -Fictober 2020, day 12: Watch me, Ryder/Gil, Post main MEA story, something short of Scott looking forward to getting out and exploring while Gil (and eventually Sara) work on the Nomad. (Sara is my pathfinder)
Dragon Age: Garrett Hawke/Fenris: -Dawning, Fenhawke, Short bit of fluff and my firt step into writing dragon age. Late or post DA2.
Lia Hawke/Fenris (a one off when I was debating on canon hawkes & romances for them): -Fictober 2020 day 5: Unacceptable, try again. Fenhawke, little bit of teasing and bad taste in books.
Rana Cousland/Alistair Theirin: -Promptless ramble, Rana/Alistair, Set during DAO with Rana reflecting on those she’s lost, worrying for her brother and realizing just how in love she’s fallen with Alistair. -Fictober 2020, day 23: Do we have to?, Rana/Alistair, set post DAO, pre-DAI, little romantic picnic between the king and queen of ferelden before she heads off on her next mission. (hints at Nathaniel being involved with the both of them.)
Greedfall: Lydia de Sardet/Kurt -Fictober 2020, day 11: I told you so, Lydia/Kurt, short bit trying to get my footing writing these two, Lydia thinks she can still climb trees like she used to as a kid. -Fictober 2020, day 17: Give me a minute or an hour, Lydia/Kurt, short bit, and Kurt not being as subtle about his feelings about Lydia as he probably thinks he has.
Anthem: Raya Auren/Matti (1 of the 3 Matthias Sumner) -Fictober 2019 day 1: It’ll be fun, trust me, Raya/Matti, Bit of an adventure involving Raya taking her favorite arcanist out of fort tarsis to see something very special. (also involving me having no clue how they transport people when there’s only one javelin and winging it)
Smut: (all of them are swtor so far) -A Moment Reprised, Kara/Arcann, takes place post-umbara and pre-nathema, and sometime late in BtBN, no plot. -Moving on, Koren/Trey, takes place right before chap 35 of BtBN, featuring my dorks of a hunter and sith setting in stone they’re serious about each other. no plot -Just a short vacation, Kara/Theron, takes place post-nathema pre-onslaught, A moment in Kara and Theron’s honeymoon at a lovely resort and the closest to taking a day off Theron will ever probably take. No plot -Welcome Home, Kara/Arcann/Theron, unlike the other 3 doesn’t have a specific time that it takes place other than post nathema. No plot
#my writing#this took forever i didn't realize i've written so much over the years#going forward i'm going to just add new ones onto this so they just stay connected without me having to redo this
for the fanfic meme: 10, 19, 23?
shortest wip of the year
So, besides a Jaladdin fic that is, like, three sentences and more of an abomination than a WIP, here: “How did you learn to read?” He asks it when they’re in bed together, Ronan a comfortable weight against his chest.
“Mm?” Ronan is never at his most aware when they’re like this, even though he’s sure to ask a hundred questions in several hours when Lazare is trying to sleep.
“In Paris, I know most men can write their names,” Lazare says, “However, in the country, it is considerably more rare. Especially for a peasant.”
It’s from the Between the Waves verse, set in between Ah, Ça Ira and PLP.
any new fics to start next year
I’m REALLY hoping to work more with MA next year. I have a few Ideas floating around that would work with Margrid/Orléans, both in terms of the canonical verse and in terms of a modern AU.
I would like to do more with Irish Mythology, if I’m not too burned out. Just...in general. More.
Also...Yuletide is probably going to bring a few more fics to light. I can’t say too much more than that, but at least one fic is guaranteed to come around the start of the new year, and a few others might pop up either then or shortly around then.
I’ve been toying with a 1789 Ladyhawke AU that I would LOVE to write. I’m not sure how much more I can do besides reiterate how much I want to write it, but I would be very interested in it.
I’m really interested in a fic where Aladdin and Jafar actually have to work together, because I think that, with their shared background, they could make for REALLY good partners in crime.
And, I’m obviously going to be fitting SOME time in to do exchanges, so there will probably end up being a few of the usual suspects in there. (Terra Nova tends to probably be my biggest Exchange Fic option here.)
fics you wanted to write but didn’t
AH YES, INTO THE REALM OF REGRETS.
There are a few fics that I’m still holding out hope for completing, but there are some that...I can’t do them justice, in the time left, so they might have to become New Year’s Resolutions.
A fic for @galentines dealing with The Polyamorous Pirate Trio: The Early Days (I HAVE NOT GIVEN UP, MY PLANS JUST MIGHT BE SLIGHTLY WAYLAID)
Fairytale AU for 1789- Partially written out, just needs to fill in a few gaps, but unfortunately filling gaps in is...well, not as fun as writing the fun scenes. Working on it.
When I was drafting out Cú Chulainn/Ferdiad for the exchange, I actually drafted out a fic where Lugh and CC have to try to bring Ferdiad back, and it was written in that kind of lofty Old Irish style. I still really, really like it and it will probably come out one day, but that is an EXHAUSTING style to write in and tbh I don’t care enough about Cú Chulainn/Ferdiad on their own to work with it. (Also: I wasn’t sure about its appropriateness for the exchange given that a certain OTHER character who I DO care very much for ended up taking over, as he is wont to do.)
This one has haunted me for about 2/3 years now, but there’s an Aífe/Emer fic that I partially wrote out, but because of the inherent trauma of Aífe’s story + my worries about the potential controversy over depicting Cú Chulainn as he exactly is, it’s been shelved. Which is a pity because, imo, some of my better writing’s in there.
Angsty MA...thing where Margrid’s in love with Fersen and Orléans is in love with Antoinette and they basically go for one another as a consolation only to accidentally catch feelings.
At least two or three things for the Between the Waves verse, though a PART of why they aren’t finished is simply because I feel like I might need to get one or two more chapters of PLP done before then (so. See you all in about. A year and a half.) Thus far, in terms of WIPs I have a Lazare POV (shown above), an Artois POV, an Olympe POV, and one whose very existence is a spoiler for the rest.
I feel like I could do both Bres/Sreng and Donal/Tiernan/Gráinne fics for a college AU set in an Unnamed Cozy College In The South Of Ireland, but. I think I might have to wait until AFTER I’m out of said college before I write it. For now. Though my finger might still slip before the year’s out; I’ve been known to do some questionable things when I’m mildly sleep deprived.
And a fic for Lord C/Lady C from Toho RetJ because fuck it, I’m INVESTED now, and Oka Kojiro did NOT have to go that hard for the role.
And....so many others. RIP, my cryogenically frozen children, you will be reborn again.
Polyhex Wars, Book 1 Part 1: This Is Why We Take Roll, People
Boy oh boy, back with the solo writing! Before we begin, let’s take a look at what exactly we’ll be working with here.
Polyhex is a polity that’s been established in the Transformers franchise for ages, and it’s got a lot of history behind it. Perhaps if we have an understanding of the place, we’ll have a better insight to what’s going to happen in the story. Because god knows Roberts loves him some lore.
Here are some things that you can find within the city limits of Polyhex:
Darkmount
An unnamed Decepticon stronghold
The/A smelting pool
The Dead End
Decepticon fuel stores
Ratbat's offices
An Autobase
The original space bridge
The Polyhex Toll Plaza
So, a strong chance of Decepticon/Autobot action here. Ratbat might show up, which would be interesting. He was leader of the Decepticons for a little bit in the Marvel comics, and he did a pretty darn good job. Also, robotic homelessness. Outstanding.
On to the story!
Our tale opens with a problem- there’s a Decepticon with a sword and flaming eyes looming over an Autobot. A Decepticon whose face strips off, leaving only a skull. Then his robo-flesh flies off, leaving him just a skeleton. Then the robo-flesh goes and crushes the Autobot and melts his body down. Our Autobot feels his very fucking soul evaporate.
Oh hey, Prowl.
It would seem that Prowl is a favorite of Roberts, right alongside Nightbeat and Chromedome in terms of just how often he’s shown up in his writing. Hopefully things turn out better for him in this story than they did in Eugenesis.
Not that it would take much, mind you.
Turns out that nightmare we just witnessed was just that- a nightmare. Prowl wakes up on the floor, having passed out thanks to Involuntary Systems Shutdown. Guess he’s just been working himself too hard.
Roberts, you get those pores off of that robot, mister. Don’t you dare think I forgot about what you did to Soundwave and his pores.
This is actually potentially a holdover from the fanfic scene at the time. Fandom wasn’t quite as cohesive as it is nowadays, which meant that the concepts of things like fans, EM fields, and alternative terminology for robotic body parts weren’t universally accepted, so you got things like robots being able to sweat, and having much more organic terms for things. Roberts seemed to flip-flop between using mechanical and human-y language. We get terms like “optical shutters” sitting right next to someone getting the fear sweats. It’s a neat look at how things used to be.
Prowl is trying to suss out just what the hell that dream could possibly mean- I guess he subscribes to the school of prophetic dreaming- when Optimus Prime walks in and wants a status report. He’s rather rude about it too, snapping at Prowl when he doesn’t get exactly to what he’s after; that is to say, the situation on Cybertron itself. Prowl, a little weirded out by Optimus’ sudden assholery, calls up Blaster. However, when he turns back to his leader, Optimus has collapsed against a table. Whatever the Prime’s funk was seems to have dissipated, and he’s much more pleasant suddenly. Blaster, not so much.
Things aren’t going great on Cybertron. The Decepticons are nearly done building nuclear-powered rocket thrusters. They’ll be completed within the week.
Man, Eugenesis really just ruins a person’s expectations, doesn’t it?
Jokes aside, it seems like there’s something ominous going on in Autobot City, and it’s making folks act like jackasses.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, Bumblebee’s being reckless and racing around, as Hound and Beachcomber follow towards a cargo transport. Bumblebee slips inside, then immediately falls back out, having been shot in the chest. Out come Thundercracker, Skywarp, and Ramjet, a welcoming party if there ever was one. No word on where the hell Starscream is in all this. The three shoot Beachcomber and Hound, who pass out.
Back with Optimus, the Prime’s addressing a group of Autobots, who are about to embark on a mission to protect the Celestial, a vessel in charge of monitoring Decepticon activity on Cybertron. Red Alert’s involved. He’s the only one named in the group. Optimus sends them out, and then it’s just him and Prowl. Prowl asks if he’s feeling alright, and Optimus admits to having been experiencing random blackouts and vivid nightmares. Prowl is all “OMG saaaaame” and they decide to go see Ratchet.
As they’re making their way to the medical bay, Kup catches up to them with the bad news.
You mean you didn’t CHECK before you came down here?
They all run for the medical bay to find Ratchet in the throws of a seizure. Unconscious or dead, huh? Way to go, Kup.
First Aid is there, but Optimus takes matters into his own hands.
Protip: don’t do this. Slapping a seizing person isn’t going to fix anything.
Ratchet wakes up, shaken, from his own hellish vision.
Back with Hound, who’s just woken up in a prison cell, there’s a problem: Blaster is also here, in the cell opposite his own. And he had been for over two months. Getaway and Bluestreak are there too, but that’s not as important. What is important is that someone’s been impersonating Blaster and feeding the Autobot forces false intel.
Back at Nightmare Central, our three dreamboats are comparing notes. They’re all having different visions, and entering them in different fashions. Prowl has his Decepticon skeleton flesh-vore dream that starts with a white-out, Optimus sees a golden disk spinning in a black hole, and blacks out before it starts, and Ratchet is faced with an irreparable patient and is haunted by guilt, preceded by a sudden loss of feeling and breakdown. Prowl labels Ratchet’s entry into the dreamscape as Involuntary Systems Shutdown, but First Aid disagrees.
Prowl, don’t argue with the doctor. He knows more about your body than you do.
…Okay, maybe argue with the doctor a little. Looks like he’s got a touch of the reefer madness.
No, Limbo’s a thing that was established in the comics. You can only get there if you’re a victim of mass-displacement time-travel shenanigans. You see, if someone time travels, there needs to be something of equal mass that’s removed from where they’re jumping to, otherwise rifts in space-time happen. When the mass-equivalent is removed, it can’t just flat-out disappear, so it gets taken to Limbo to wait it out until the time traveler heads back to their original time. Back in ’86, when Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge were being time-menaces, Ratchet, Prowl, and Optimus got shunted off into Limbo. They were there for a while.
Why the hell does First Aid know this, though? Because he went to Limbo in ’87, when Death’s Head was jumping around.
It could very well be, Optimus theorizes, that when the Time Travel Trio got sucked back into the rift, there was a sort of cross-contamination that happened, since the rift and Limbo were both connected.
Back at Darkmount, the captured Autobots are discussing their current predicament, and how it may lead to more in the near future. Blaster’s really hoping that Optimus figures out what’s going on soon, before things get really bad.
They need to get out of these cells, obviously, but how? The only way to break the electro bars is with an ionic disrupter, and nobody here has one.
Just kidding. Bumblebee’s got one hard-wired into his body. Problem is, it’s pretty weak, and just isn’t going to cut it. There’s a moment of defeat, then some old geezer enters the conversation. He’s got something that’ll amplify the disrupter enough to get them out of there. The only catch is it’s wired deep enough into his body that using it will kill him.
This presents quite the quandary to our Autobots, as their moral code forbids killing under any circumstances. Hound’s still very much on board with said code, but everyone else seems to be thinking of the greater good. The old Autobot himself even admits that he wouldn’t survive an escape attempt, and really just wants to be done with it all.
This is a very different take than the ones we’ve been seeing so far- even in the softer takes, the Autobots have, at the very least, accepted that death was a part of war, even if they didn’t like it. A big part of it is that it’s Hound, whose personality at the time was one of a soft-hearted, benevolent human-wannabe.
Roberts is going to put him through hell in this, isn’t he?
Back over at Autobot City, those fifteen Autobots Optimus briefed earlier just left for the Celestial.
I’m sure it’ll be fine!
While this is happening, Prowl remembers that thing he was trying to tell Optimus about earlier- namely, the cargo run Bumblebee, Hound, and Beachcomber were on. They aren’t back yet. What’s up with that?
Optimus decides to call Blaster to see what’s up with that, but gets a little suspicious when Blaster suggests they send more folks down to the cargo transport. After a bit of delegating with Prowl, Optimus sets a sort of verbal trap, asking how Witterquick is settling in on the ship. There’s never been an Autobot by that name, but not-Blaster takes the bait as Red Alert and pals show up. With that, he hangs up.
Because Optimus now knows that not-Blaster is not Blaster, he thinks it’s about time they pay Cybertron a visit and save the day. Before they can do that though, their collective vision explodes with a white flash, and they all pass out.
Meanwhile, Hound’s gotten over his disapproval of killing a man, as he and his cellmates plunder his dead body and plug components into Bumblebee’s head to make the most powerful hat ever conceived. With a little effort and concentration, Bumblebee manages to disrupt the bars so they can get out of there. Everyone is very proud of Bumblebee for this. They release the rest of the Autobot prisoners and Hound is appointed impromptu leader of the whole shebang, all while he’s got that old dead robot slung over his shoulder. He intends to give him a proper burial. He’s going to be carrying this guy for the rest of the story.
Good luck with that, Hound.
An Autobot named Courier seems to know the layout of Darkmount pretty well, so they let him take point and take them to the armory. They don’t ask why he knows where the armory is, just let him lead them there. It’s almost too easy. I don’t trust Courier.
Yeah, this guy’s evil.
They burst into the throne room to find an ambush, and then quickly discover that their weapons are fakes. Goddammit, did nobody check the roster to make sure all their guys were actually their guys? At this point it’s all on y’all for not making sure everyone was on the up and up.
Happy blorbo blursday!!!
Which... three ocs would be a perfect team to do a heist and why?
Thank you so much for this amazing ask, and happy Blorbo Blursday!!
Oh my, how to even begin to choose. My obvious answer would be three of my Chaos Crew, since they work together anyway. but that feels too easy.
I'm still gonna choose Joseph to go on this heist because he can teleport, so why wouldn't you want him on the team? He's also super strong and fast, so it makes sense. Jasper (the OC from my TWD fanfic) seems like another great candidate because he can pick locks and he literally used to be a very successful thief. I feel like they would get along well too, because they're both funny and kind enough to get along with anyone.
I think the last member of this trio would have to be Rovena, an OC from my vampire story (unnamed so far), because not only is she charming, and more than practised in getting her way, but she's also a vampire, which I think helps with just about anything? The money would have to be good to be worth her time though...
This was so fun :)
