A YEAR IN FICS - 2022
time for one of my favorite New Year’s tradition: taking stock of all the fics I wrote this past year!
Operation Midnight Kiss: Jyn has a plan for New Year's Eve but an eager new recruit complicates things... (1/1)
i’ll tell you my sins and you can sharpen your knife: Holy shit. She fucked a hitman. Released from prison after three years, Jyn Erso is just trying to pick up the broken pieces of her life. But the man who catches her eye might not be exactly who he says he is. (1/1) Good Behavior AU. technically written in 2021 but I didn’t post it until later, so now I have to file this under 2022 which annoys me a bit because it skewed my word count for both 2021 and 2022.... but it is what it is
The Replacement Cass: Jyn has a new boyfriend which would be fine... if not for his name. (1/1)
touching the sun: After Jyn and Cassian escape Scarif, they're in limbo. Neither of them really know how to be close to each other. But when Jyn notices a strange bond developing between them that she can't explain, it forces them to acknowledge their true feelings... OR, the AU that's not quite soulmates, not quite not soulmates (2/2) Written for the Rebelcaptain Big Bang project, only second chapter was written in 2022.
Blood Red Rose: 1920, London. An unknown creature dubbed 'the Beast' is terrorizing the streets at night. Vampire hunter Jyn Erso and recently turned vampire Cassian Andor might just be the city's only hope to catch the monster... (22/26) chapters 18-22 written in 2022
home we’ll go: Cassian Andor only comes back to Ferrix for two things: to get Maarva and Bee, and to say goodbye to the people he cares about. Neither goes the way he expects it to. AU for episode 7: what if Jyn had grown up on Ferrix? (1/1)
Amas Veritas: Jyn's a young witch who's just trying to keep her head down. But when Orson Krennic returns to town years after he allegedly killed her father, she can't help feeling like this is her chance to get some payback. What's supposed to be a harmless hex quickly turns deadly, and Jyn must now make sure no one ever finds out what she did or risk going to prison. But the pull she feels towards Cassian Andor, the private investigator the Krennics have hired complicates matters, and it doesn't help that she's sworn off love years ago due to a nasty love curse that sits upon her family. On top of it all, Krennic's ghost might be haunting her... This Halloween is shaping up to be the worst one Jyn's ever had. (5/7) Practical Magic AU
fighting dragons with you: Jyn is injured during a dragon fight, and Cassian is not happy about it. (1/1) Written for the Rebelcaptain Trees exchange
a wolf at heart: She kinda wished she could take him home with her. Jyn, the wolf-tamer. How cool would that be? OR, Jyn's a college student with a crush but Cassian has some secrets (1/2) Written for the Rebelcaptain Secret Santa exchange
always, someday: Sleep… He wants to sleep so badly, but if he does, it means he’s failed. They promised him they’d let him rest if he just gave them the answers they wanted. But that’s not a price he can pay. He can’t betray the rebellion, he can’t give up their secrets, their names, their locations, their weaknesses, he can’t, he can’t, he can’t — He can’t say anything. And he can’t sleep. They won’t let him. (1/1)  Written for the Rogue One Crew exchange
Prompts, requests and drabbles:
I’ve made so many mistakes, but you’re not one of them
I need you to help me reach the top shelf
you’re worth any fight
can you give me a ride?
the lights don’t shine as bright when you’re not here
firefighters AU
single parent & teacher AU
Total works: 17 (15 new ones)
Total wordcount: 104 087
And I outdid myself again this year! I don’t think I’ll be able to replicate it again this year with my new job, but my writing goal for 2023 is to finally finish Blood Red Rose. wish me luck!

The new mods: Electric boogaloo!
I (Leo) very excited to introduce 3 new mods joining us on the Terror Bingo Team, Tree, Jeems, and JD! Thank you to all who applied or reached out to help, I am beyond grateful.
As for the new mods, it’s best if they introduce themselves:
Hello! I’m Jeems, 27, any pronouns, jamesjamesonfitzjames on Tumblr, jamesjamesonfitzjames/MillicentArcher on ao3. I got into the fandom just a little late for Bingo last year and I’m so glad Leo and Saura stepped up to run it again this year. 😊
Being involved in this fandom and seeing how active it truly is makes me want to get more involved with modding for the various fandom events. I’m excited to get to know more folks! I’m pretty regularly lurking in the Discord, so feel free to reach out. 🥰
I’m Tree, he/they, 30, unnecessary on AO3 and Bluesky, unnecessaryligatures on Tumblr. I also joined fandom too late for bingo last year, so I am looking forward to participating and helping out! One of the things I love about the Terror fandom is all the creative events that happen each year. I’m excited to get a chance to help out with this one and meet new people!
I’m JD, I’m 25, he/him, jdmara on tumblr/ao3/bsky, TheJDMara on twitter, I’ve done plenty of terror events before (Terror Big Bang and a valiant attempt at Terror Bingo back in 2021/2022, the Terror Calendar for the past few years, the Terror Zine…) but I’ve never modded for this fandom yet. I have modded discord servers before though!
And as a quick recap there’s me, Leo ey/eir or mixed pronouns of a crotchety old 30+ and can be found at fitzgender nearly everywhere except on AO3 and my art tumblr where I’m ofthestrangersilk. I like to rotate the men and the ice, the ice and the men, and think all cold boys deserve to be put into Situations, hence the modding of events.
In other news, regular service has now resumed 🫡 so look out for more fun things to come! We’ve very excited to see all the fun things you have been creating and don’t forget to tag us @theterrorbingo so we can help share it with everyone.

Read my writing!
Here's a quick sample of the things I've written for Miraculous:
-Love and War, my 2022 Big Bang fic, which is your classic enemies AU with a twist—Ladybug is the one working for Hawk Moth. It's got action, tension, fun identity shenanigans, and a sweet ending.
-Once More, with Feeling, my 2023 Big Bang fic. It's a time travel story in which Adrien, Nathalie, and Chloe are all sent back in time by one of Ladybug's plans. It's a little bit more psychological and ultimately bittersweet.
-Ulterior is a set of thematically linked stories about eldritch kwami that slowly twist their wielders around their aspect—psychological and spooky.
-Tax Evasion is an older fic of mine that takes place in and around Hawk Moth's trial—convicting someone of magical terrorism is hard!
-Days of Rage is a set of interconnected one shots set in a 1960s AU. I have a lot of thoughts about it, and occasionally I write some of them down.

A love in the eye of the hurricane ch20 (unedited)
(Originally posted 12 September 2022. It is late, but slightly better edited chapter)
Asahi grumbled into the night, and she reached over the saddle to stroke his fur.
“I know.” Jamyang looked down at the water below them. “I’ll land you soon, okay? When we hit land.” He ‘mrrgh-ed’ at her, a short and light sound. That was a positive. Good. He wasn’t upset at her. Jamyang hadn’t given any other instructions than to fly back to the Druk’s nest.
Well, now she felt bad. She hadn’t given him a break, either.
She felt bad about a lot of things after what happened on that retrieval. Ten people. That was her count, at least. Some could have passed with the gunpowder she ignited; three close ones and seven with the bow and arrow, and possibly more.
Seven people she couldn’t send off properly. Seven people that could turn into vengeful spirits and terrorise the village. The thought that it could happen terrified her. Jamyang never left matters like this half done. Would they haunt her? Would they hurt other people? Apa told them that angry spirits did that.
She thumbed at the bow string anxiously. She couldn’t undo this, and she couldn’t give back those she killed to their families. They were dead by her hand.
Did they even have families? Or did they find peace with death? Did they-
Jamyang shook her head, stopping before she spiralled. It’s done and no act could undo it. She felt horrible and overwhelmed with guilt, but it was done.
It. Was. Done.
She’s killed people. Stabbed them in the neck and shot them with arrows. Broke the biggest rule in her life and saddled herself with bad karma. Ten or more and it scared her. What would others think if they found out? She shifted, uncomfortable at the thought. It nauseated her. She’s not telling anyone. Her hands moved up to touch her pounding temples, feeling a headache incoming.
She’s not telling anyone. Gawa knew, and that was enough.
The boy was safe. She glanced down at him, sleeping against her side. She didn’t have the heart to move him. He looked comfortable and Jamyang was okay with being a human pillow, knowing from experience how nice it was to have one.
Her sister, best friend, Sister Tsering and even Sister Gyalwo attested to her being a cuddly sleeper.
Jaya said she was like a flytrap. She targeted anyone within her vicinity when she slept. Sister Gyalwo and Sister Tsering said she often slept in one of their beds rather than her crib as a baby; her grip was apparently so strong that they couldn’t remove her from them without waking her up. We often went to morning meditation in our sleepwear. They retold with teasing smiles, and with you sleeping on our chests because we couldn’t change our robes without you waking up. You’d cry like it was all terror when we’d accidentally wake you up when changing robes.
Yara could make do with a big stuffed animal while Jamyang favoured human contact.
He leaned more into her side when she stroked his hair. “Mmh.” He tried to burrow closer and Jamyang smiled at the act. She didn’t know if he could get any closer than he already was.
Adorable child, she should introduce herself when he wakes up. It was the polite thing to do, though she’d still call him adorable when the time came for it.
Jamyang looked down at Gawa, who was still sleeping. Her other hand reached down and brushed her bangs. The blue-grey arrow peeked through and said hi. Smiling to herself, she stroked her thumb in between her brows, where the sea serpent’s head should be; a book said that serpent creatures were fond of head rubs.
Could she call it an arrow? The sea serpent shape it had, threw her off; it wasn’t as prominent as Hayma or Bankei where she could see at first glance that there was something more to the tattoo. It took a bit for her to see it on Hayma, but she saw it on Bankei immediately; he’d chuckled and patted her head when she’d first asked him about it.
The arrow still looked like an arrow at first glance, one with an intricate design, so arrow it was. It looked cool, Master Shiyi was talented, and the design fit Gawa. It… looked good on her.
Maybe she should get something from Master Shiyi too? Jamyang had eyed many yantra tattoos over the years and she gravitated towards the ‘necklace’ and geometrical designs. She stumbled over her words when she tried to say Soysungwarn for the first time, the actual name of the design, but people understood her when she said ‘the necklace tattoo.’
Anzan tattooed it on Gawa. It covered her collarbones. She couldn’t read the tai tham script, but he said it was a necklace of prayers and protection. Her hand paused as it hovered above her collarbones. She wanted to touch it. Should she touch it? Was she allowed to touch it? Jamyang had unbuttoned the top of her shirt after Gawa fell asleep for comfort-
Her finger recoiled when it hit warm skin. Gawa didn’t stir, so, reluctantly, she let her finger touch the tattoo again. The skin was healed, good. That was good.
She might have had a hand in speeding the process up with the clear healing gel. She wasn’t supposed to apply it on her because a master should know how to deal with suffering, but she did anyway. It eased her consciousness to know that she could lift some of the pain away.
Gawa didn’t complain either and cooperated eagerly with her. Her cooperation led to some eyebrow raises from their older friends, Surya especially. Choda’s teasing nature had rubbed off on her.
Jamyang moved her finger away, curling her hand into her robe. She looked away from the tattoo and into the night sky. Her eyes stung a little, and she exhaled a shaky breath. A pleasant warmth spread in her chest and somehow managed to stop by her face before oozing its way down her body.
She glanced at her out of the corner of her eye. Gawa looked serene in Tui’s light, an emotion she didn’t see on her often. Jamyang looked away again, the warmth spreading over her face becoming too much, smiled and huffed a laugh under her breath.
“Hah…”
She’s read enough books to understand what that feeling could mean, but she’s going to pretend that she doesn’t.
The boy stirred during the early morning and nestled closer into her side.
Asahi groaned, a loud cheerful sound, when land came into sight.
She stroked a hand through his hair. “Good morning, slept well?” Jamyang hoped to the Buddhas that he did, because she didn’t. She didn’t sleep at all. Wait, were her hands dry? Didn’t feel like it, but his hair wasn’t getting wet- it was not getting wet. She double checked. Still clean, but a little odd smelling.
“Mhm.” He nodded, voice muffling against her robes. He pulled away, rubbing his eyes. “Go’ mo’ning!” Jamyang giggled and pinched his chubby cheek. His bright green eyes gleamed happily. Earthbending ancestry maybe?
“Hehehe!” He grinned up at her, leaning into her palm when she eased up her pinching.
“What’s your name?” She asked, and he looked delighted to answer her.
“Chi! Whas you’s?”
“Jamyang, it’s nice to meet you.” Chi’s face scrunched up, and he puckered his lips, trying to pronounce her name.
“Chamjang- cham-sham- Jamshang-,” He looked frustrated at his failed attempts.
“Hey, you can call me Lhamo if it’s difficult.” Many of the toddlers in the nurseries called her either achack, Ani or Lhamo. It was her name, even if she rarely used it.
He frowned, a cute sight. “Why?”
“Lhamo is also my name.” She held her hand up, showing three fingers. “I have three of them.” She would get more during her master ceremony whenever the elders- Elder Sonam being an exception- chose to speak to her again. Gawa had seven names now and Tashi got four new ones during her ceremony, equaling six.
“‘Fwee?!” He gasped, looking at her digits and up at her. “Weally? Fwee names?”
“Yes.” She nodded. Spirits, he was really an adorable child. “Do you want to hear them?”
“Yeah!” He cheered. Chi’s expression dropped when he heard Gawa shift. “Ngh….” Jamyang hoped she was up in the next few hours.
“Oh,” he looked down and held his finger up to his mouth. “Shhh.”
“Yes, shh.” Gawa, on a day where she wasn’t poisoned, was a somewhat light sleeper. Poisoned Gawa was a whole different deal. Tsewang often went to check up on her during the first days after she’d gotten her tattoos because she didn’t wake until the late afternoon.
“Can you say d’em? I wanna know.”
“My names?”
“Yeah, but has to be shh.” Jamyang gave into the urge and pulled him onto her lap and held him close. “Choejor Jamyang Lhamo.”
“Again!”
“Choejor-,”
“Chochor-,” she smiled at his attempt.
“Jamyang-,”
“Chamyang-,”
“Lhamo-,”
“Lhamo!”
“Good job!” She ruffled his hair. “You’re really good.” It was an… attempt, but he tried.
Asahi huffed as he landed, made himself comfortable, and immediately fell asleep. Jamyang couldn’t fault him. They’d flown for a while and she didn’t really steer him in any direction. She’s familiar with the area from trips she’d been on and if she remembered the map correctly, they’d just taken a longer route.
They’ll reach the Druk’s nest in… four days, maybe?
“I hung’y.” Chi said while patting his stomach. She knew that this would come up. The food they packed wasn’t the most nutritious for children his age, ‘food’ as in nutrition balls and pellets, six onigiri each and some tea leaves and barley so that they could make tsampa, were the only nutritional things they bought with them.
It was supposed to be an in and out sort of deal, but then it wasn’t and they were unprepared.
“You’re hungry?” She rummaged through their supplies, looking for her packed onigiri, the box of tea and sack of barley. Butter tea and tsampa weren’t everybody’s favourite, but it was filling and the children at the temple were okay with it. She placed her bamboo box with onigiri in her lap and continued looking.
“Yeah. You has food?”
“I have some.” She answered. “But it’s not much.” She turned back to him with the box of tea and barley in hand. Chi eyed them with curious eyes.
“Was’at?”
“Tea leaves and barley. We can have that afterwards. It’s very filling.” Jamyang could attest to that, two cups of butter tea and tsampa could keep her going for the day.
“Ba’li?” He tested the word.
“Yes.” She nodded. “Barley.”
“Was’at?”
“It’s a type of grain that you can eat.”
“Oh, okay.”
Asahi snored. Good. He needed that rest.
“It’s only for now, though.” She opened her bamboo box and handed him one. “We can look for food after we’ve eaten. We need more when Gawa wakes up.” She was still sleeping. Jamyang would let her sleep until she woke up. No, she wouldn’t. She’d let her sleep for a few more hours, maybe until they came back with more food and had it ready so that she could start eating?
There was no way she’d let her get her energy from food and herbs that were pressed into balls and pellets.
“D’as okay! I like onigiri. ‘S good.”
“It is good.” She agreed. “What’s your favourite filling?”
“‘Boshi!”
“… What?” She blinked.
“‘Boshi.” He repeated.
“… do you mean umeboshi?”
“Yeah! Was’ you’s?”
“It depends, but I like rousong and fish the best.” She’d been sceptical when Gawa’s apa offered her one when they went to meet him in the mountains where he herded bison and yak, but the first bite was just so magical that she couldn’t describe it with words.
Jamyang left a note, attaching it to Gawa’s bag. In the most likely scenario that she’d turn over on her right when she woke up- like every morning over the years- it would be the first thing she’d see.
, In the least likely scenario where she’d turn over to her left and not see it then… she wasn’t sure. Anzan said it’d happened a couple of times, rarely though, just like the days where mist didn’t surround the tops of Taktsang, but she’s never there to see it. Gawa was an anxious person underneath it all. Jamyang hoped it wouldn’t be too bad should it happen.
“Good morning if you wake up when we’re out looking for more food. There’s no way I’m letting you get your energy just from the food we brought. Chi is safe with me.
- Jamyang”
Chi burrowed himself into Asahi’s fur while she got ready. She thanked the Buddhas that her robes were black. Chi hadn’t noticed the blood that stained her robes and she’d almost forgotten about it. Jamyang couldn’t really change when he slept so soundly against her side.
It was still wet, almost dry, coating her finger with a brownish red when she checked.
Don’t deny it. She’d done that. Jamyang’s jaw quivered the more she stared at it. In between blinks, her hand would be covered in dark blood and holding a shiny, equally bloodied tanto.
“It’s not real.” She shut her eyes and shook her head. It wasn’t real. She knew that. It might feel wet and warm, but it wasn’t real. Jamyang dried her hands after Gawa fell asleep and it didn’t stain what she grabbed or touched.
Jamyang knew what this was, she’d seen it in some patients she and ama would heal. “It’s not real.” She muttered, fixed her new robe- for once the heavy robe she was supposed to wear- ignoring the intense feeling that she’d stained it severely, -it wasn’t stained, it wasn’t- and brushed her hair.
She wondered how she’d fare when she couldn’t brush her hair when she’d get her tattoos. She’d be bald then and for a few months after. Her whole morning routine would be disrupted. Jamyang started her day with a new braid, like how Jaya picked out what robes to wear for the day.
What should I do in those months? She wondered while braiding. Hair was attachment and yes, she’s attached to her hair. The elders and older Sisters would say that it was bad, but of the people she knew who had hair, said it was a good attachment. She puffed her cheek out and picked up her hair tie. Maybe she’ll rearrange her closet every morning until her hair grows so that she can braid it.
Okay, done. She looked through her bag. Everything they needed was there- did she need to bring a box of poisoned senbon? Jamyang reached for it, paused, and after short deliberation, retracted her hand. She didn’t need it, but it didn’t hurt to keep it there either.
“Okay, I’m done!” Chi looked up from Asahi’s fur and his face lit up and he ran over to her.
“Up!” He held his arms out, and she picked him up, pressing kisses to his cheek, making him giggle. “You’re so cute.” Another kiss. “Mwah! You’re so cute!” Chi broke into another fit of giggles. He was just so cute!
Chi returned the favour by leaning up and pressing a loud kiss to her cheek. “Muwah!”
When their giggles calmed down, she asked him. “Where do you think we can find food?” There should be a village nearby or… was that another place? No -over some hills in the distance she heard mumbles of people walking about- she was right, a village was nearby.
“A ma’ket? O’.” He looked around with all the seriousness that a toddler could have. “Maybe fowest?” He pointed to said forest behind them. “The forest?” She turned to look. There should be food to find there as well; the memories of multiple survival trips when she was ten winters were hazy in her mind. It all went by so quick, she got a tiny scar on her leg which she thinks she might’ve gotten from falling from a tree, but she’s not sure.
“Yeah, bewis.”
“Berries? You like berries?”
“Yeah, pu’pe bewis.” He grinned.
“The purple berries?” Chi nodded. “Maybe there’s some there? We can go there after we’ve been to the market?” She looked at him. “What do you think?”
“Yeah, okay!” He cheered.
Jamyang grabbed her staff and folded it out. She still hadn’t gotten used to doing that. “Hold on to me tightly. We’re going flying.” She tightened his arm around him. This was okay. She’d flown with one arm before when she’d taken the children flying with her glider. “You can fl-?” The end of that question ended in a shriek.
“Wow!” Chi gasped and turned in her grip to look at the land below.
She smiled fondly at his amazed look. Her reaction was the same. Jamyang once snuck into the room where the staff were stored when she was four winters, stole a staff, snuck back out and jumped off the pagoda of one of the smaller towers, only knowing the theory of flying; she’d read a book where the process was described in detail.
She was gone for hours, flying over villages and forests in awe at the beauty. The nuns, Sister Tsering especially, were worried sick when they couldn’t find her around the temple.
… her landing wasn’t smooth like the older girls. Jamyang came down with too much speed and tumbled over her feet, almost landing on her before she caught herself with a big gust of wind that shot her up into the air.
That landing was smooth, though. At least one of them was. Looking around, she frowned when she saw how empty the area was. People were usually out studying or playing. Picking up her staff, she went to look for someone.
Hopping towers, she stumbled when she got to the tower where her room was. Someone was always there, so her chance of finding someone was higher. It was unusually quiet as she trudged down the hallways. Nyima and Ghamo were always doing something, and she hadn’t met them so far. Jamyang hasn’t met anyone so far. She wasn’t away for that long, had she? Where were they?
Walking further into the hallways of rooms where she was staying and listening to if anyone was nearby, she paused and stared at the two figures standing in front of her room.
They, Sister Tsering and Sister Gyalwo, she realised when she got closer, didn’t hear her when she walked up to them. “… what am I going to do Gyalwo?” Sister Gyalwo comforted Sister Tsering with a hug.
Jamyang looked back and forth at them. She hadn’t seen them this serious before.
“What are you doing?” They startled at her voice with yells and wretched away from each other. She stared impassively at them, both of them with expressions of shock.
“… Jamyang?” Sister Tsering started, a hand leaning out to her. Jamyang stared at the outstretched hand and grabbed it. What else was she supposed to do? “Yes?”
With a sob, Sister Tsering engulfed her in a hug, and Sister Gyalwo later joined her. “Where were you? All of us were so worried!”
“Oh.” Well, now she felt bad. “I was out flying.” Sister Tsering and Sister Gyalwo leaned away and stared incompressibly at her. “You, you were out flying?” Sister Tsering asked with a pitch in her voice.
“Yeah.” She shrugged her shoulders, holding the staff out to them. “I flew with the staff.” They stared at it, then at her, back at the staff, and then back at her.
“I didn’t do anything bad, did I?”….
Jamyang landed on the outskirts of the village, put him down, folded her staff and put it in her bag. “D’a was so cool!” Chi looked at her as if she was the person who hanged Agni into the sky. “Can you d’ech me?”
“I-,” how was she supposed to answer? He wouldn’t be able to- wait. “Maybe, it won’t be exactly how I do it, though. Is that okay?” She’d seen benders whose element wasn’t air and non-benders glide like she did. It wasn’t gliding on the wind currents like she’d seen in some place, they glided just like she would. It was something Sage Bhuti, and another elder invented.
Jamyang understood, but didn’t at the same time when they explained the technology to her.
“D’as okay!” Chi grinned. “I wanna fly!”
Jamyang wasn’t the biggest fan of meat. She said that as they stood in front of a stand that sold meat. She was more of a fan of seafood, but there were some types of meats that were okay. Breakfasts at Taktsang always consisted of some type of meat and Chi said he wanted ‘m’etballs.’
Her hands weren’t covered in blood. They weren’t.
“What do you think? Which one is the best?” He stood on his toes to see properly. He looked back at her, the gears in his head visibly turning, and looked back at the meat and pointed to a medium-sized piece of meat.
“D’a one!” The butcher, a middle-aged man, picked it up with a pair of tongs and wrapped it up in butcher paper; she knew that knowledge from reading a chapter with the pov of a butcher.
Jamyang handed him the money, and he handed her the meat.
“Have a good day, miss!”
“You too!”
“Bye bye!” Chi waved cheerfully at him.
The young woman tending to the grill had a pink flush colouring her face as she turned the skewers Chi wanted.
“Are you sure you can eat all of that?” She asked, cradling the back of his head. It was six skewers with sticky rice and a spicy looking sauce; it was dark red, almost black with a surprisingly sweet scent.
She wasn’t going to assume anything. People had presented food to her that looked to be the spiciest thing in the world and it turned out not to be. Chi said he’d eaten it before and it was ‘da besht!’
“Mhm!” He nodded and leaned into her leg. “Jus’ pe’fect!” The young woman tending to the grill laughed. She picked up the skewers and placed them into a small bag, drizzled some of the spicy looking sauce onto them, picked up another small bag and scooped up a handful of steaming sticky rice and bent down to hand it to him.
“T’ank you!” He held the bags close to his chest and Jamyang handed her the money.
“Here.” Their fingers bumped into each other. “Oh, uh, thank you.” Was her flush getting darker? She couldn’t tell. “Let me just-,” She went behind the stand, shuffled with something and then she heard the clink of money. After a couple of seconds, she came back out and handed her the change.
“Here.” Their fingers touched again. Jamyang looked at her and the other woman looked away, her flush indeed darker than before.
“Thank you. Have a nice day.”
“Y-you too!”
Chi waved over his shoulder. “Bye bye!”
Gawa was awake when they got back. By the looks of it, she’d just gotten back from bathing. She turned to them while towelling her hair.
Chi ran up to hug her before he halted and stared at her forehead. She’d taken off her extension bangs.
“Was’at?” He pointed.
“It’s an arrow.” She answered and crouched down to his height. “Wanna touch it?” He hesitated and touched it with his finger, gasped and touched it again. “Woah!”
“Cool, right?”
“Yeah!” He turned to Jamyang. “Look! Issa a’ow.” “Yeah I see it, very cool.” It was cool and she couldn’t stress that enough. She’d even caught herself staring at it multiple times during her recovery period.
“I’ve never seen you in those robes before.” Jamyang looked over her shoulder as she placed the bag of food they brought down. “I don’t really like them.” She answered. “They’re too heavy for my liking. I only wear them if I have to.”
Chi sat comfortably against Asahi’s fur and chewed on the meatballs she’d brought, humming happily at the taste.
“You didn’t have to wear them now.”
“I didn’t? It certainly looked better image wise when I wore these instead of the… other ones.” She wasn’t thinking of that now. “We can make bonfires here, right? I bought meat.”
“I-uh, yeah we can.”
“Good.” Jamyang picked up a nearby rock, moved it closer to them and went to look for another one.
“Wait, let me help.” They worked on the fire pit in silence. It was tense, or maybe that was just Jamyang. Chi came running when he saw them carry rocks, wanting to help. The rocks were too heavy for him, so he adjusted them instead so that they’ll be lined up evenly. His presence brought some levity as they worked.
“I’ll, uh, I’ll go look for wood.” Gawa fiddled with her hands, anxiousness oozing off of her. So Jamyang grabbed her hand and gave a comforting squeeze. “Alright, I’ll prepare the food then. If you see some berries, bring a little back. Chi said he wanted some. Be back soon, okay?.”
“I will.”
Jamyang didn’t have that much salt left because of the cups of butter tea she brewed that morning, but she spread it as evenly as she could.
She could count the times she’d prepared meat in life on one hand. A total of three times.
Chi held a skewer out to her. “He’a. Fo’ you.” She accepted it and took a bite. She was right, the sauce wasn’t that spicy, but it left a barely there numbness. It was more on the sweeter end.
“Hm,” she chewed. “This is good.” She hadn’t tasted this type of meatball before. “Is it your favourite food?” Chi nodded and handed her some sticky rice. “I wanna ma’wy it.”
“You like it so much you wanna marry it?” She laughed.
“Yeah! Issa besht!”
“Hm, then I’d wanna marry Sister Chomden’s momo’s or her thenthuk.”
“D’enduk? Was’at?”
“It’s…”
Gawa was quiet while she ate, nodding along as Chi chattered and occasionally answered his questions.
“What’s bothering you? She said under her breath so that he wouldn’t hear.
“Nothing.”
“Don’t lie to me, I can tell.”
“…”
“Gawa.”
“… you didn’t have to come after me. It would’ve been okay-,”
“Of course I had to!” She hissed, angry that she even tried to say that. “I couldn’t just leave you or worse, let you get caught.”… why did Gawa give her that tanto? “It’s done. Impermanent. We can do nothing to reverse it.” Jamyang could shoulder the negative karma of her actions.
“But your karma-,”
“No. I’m not a nun officially. I haven’t taken any vows yet, so my karma won’t affect anything. It’s okay. It won’t change anything.” She’ll be ‘reborn,’ during the ceremony. It’s fine.
“Did you know something was going to happen?” She followed up with her previous sentence. It had to be the reason she gave her that tanto. Gawa and Tora had a highly accurate foresight among their peers. That had to be the reason. She was quiet and lightly shrugged her shoulders. “… um, maybe? I wanted to be wrong, and I thought I was, because I’ve been wrong before and nothing happened until I met that guard and then-,”
“Hey.” She put her plate of food down and turned to her. “It’s okay, it’s okay. It’s fine, calm down. Tell me next time, okay? I’ll help you.”
“I didn’t want to bring you into something that potentially wasn’t anything threatening and, and I didn’t want to make you kill anyone either.”
“It’s fine. I’ll just bend my rules and ignore them if I have to. I know how to fight. I’ve never done it in that way before, but it’s done and I’ve officially debuted on that scene.” She said. “But if it’ll make you feel better, then I’ll prostrate in front of the Chenrezig statues when we get back and beg for forgiveness.”
“… I’d like that.”
“The trip is going to be a day and a night. Asahi can do that trip fine.” The bison groaned in affirmation.
“You’re okay with alternating steering?”
“Yeah that’s fine.”
Jamyang dreamt of a strong metallic scent and honing oil.
She’s in the bloodied black robes, her hands and tanto covered in red and everything was bloodbloodbloodbloodbloodbloodblood-!
She fell over. Was she hit? What hit her? Blood filled her mouth, her vision was getting hazy, a whistle reached her ears- an arrow?- and-
She woke with a jolt, sat up and rubbed her face. Chi slept soundly beside her and Gawa sat on Asahi’s head. Just a dream, it was just a dream.
“Are okay?” Gawa looked over at her, concern visible in her eyes. “Yeah, fine.” Her voice was much lighter than she wanted it to be. “Just fine.”
Jamyang landed on the plateau in front of the temple and Gawa picked up a sleeping Chi as they jumped off Asahi, leaving their belongings behind.
It was a quiet affair, walking inside and down the hallways towards the main meditation room that also functioned as an office for missions.
Hayma and Feng greeted them when they slid the door open. “You’re back.” They said in unison. “We are.” They sat down in seiza in front of them. “minor complications occurred, but the son is unharmed.”
“Good, Haoyu will be relieved.” Hayma wrote something on a piece of paper with a brush, stamped it and handed Gawa a bag of money.
“You’re relieved for the night. Get a night’s rest. You can give me a full report in the morning.”
“Thank you.” They bowed and exited the room.
Gawa went and handed Chi to some caretakers that were up tending to needy children. She looked at her with a faint smile. “Good night.”
“Good night.” Jamyang took a longer way to her room and stopped by the prayer room.
Jamyang begged for forgiveness in front of the Chenrezig statue, ignoring how wet her hands seemed to be.
It was an illusion. Her hands were dry, she knew that, but the blood wouldn’t go away no matter how much she tried to dry them. She’d accepted that now. PTSD hallucinations, she read a book about it and ama told her how to deal with it as well. It’ll go away, eventually.
“Jamyang?” Sitting up, she turned to see who it was. Amanthi stood there with her hair up and in her sleepwear.
Abbot Dorji was back at Zixiao now.
“What’s wrong? Why are you up so late?” She probably sensed her. Amanthi walked up and sat down by her. “I’m begging for forgiveness.” There. She said it. She was begging for forgiveness. The whole situation was okay in her eyes, but she was begging for forgiveness.
“Why? Did something happen on the mission?” Say it. Her mouth dried and something twisted so hard inside her chest that it was difficult to breathe. Her hands fisted themselves into her knees. “Uh,” she swallowed. “There was a minor complication and….” She trailed off.
“What happened then?”
“Oh yeah, uh, I had to go in because Gawa was late and… I killed some people.”
“Oh, Jamyang.” She’s pulled into a side hug.
“Yeah, that. I did that. Ten people or more, I could only send off three properly.”
Her eyes stung, and she sniffed. Amanthi shifted and pulled her closer. “Whatever the others might say, none of us like killing.” Jamyang knew that. Anzan once got so upset when he found a nest of dead baby chicks that he cried.
“I feel horrible.” Tears started falling, and she wiped them. “I feel horrible, but it’s okay. It’ll go away, ama said it would.” Amanthi held her close and muttered comforting words in her ear.
“I know. It’ll go away and sometimes it’ll come back. It happens with me too. No one can control it.”
Feng placed a cup of tea into her hands when she arrived in the dining hall in the early morning. He didn’t say anything, smiled and went on his way.
Gawa must’ve told them during her report. More people knew then, Jamyang could live with that.
She chose a quiet spot to drink her tea and just exist for a bit. Assam tea, the malty taste and the muffled sounds of happy children playing outside giving a sense of familiarity that she didn’t know she needed.
Someone approached her table a couple of minutes later after she sat down. A pleasant scent joined them.
“I brought you breakfast.” Gawa sat down beside her and leaned her head on her shoulder. She put her cup down and stared at the tempting momos that smelled delicious.
She wasn’t hungry, but Gawa would be upset with her if she didn’t eat. Slowly, she picked a momo up, took a bite, chewed and swallowed. Sister Chomden’s were better. These were a close second, but she wasn’t hungry. Jamyang would probably enjoy them more if she were.
She perked up when she heard a fast-paced padding coming in their direction.
Patpatpat
It was reminiscent of Aika when she was a young chick, and now she had chicks of her own. She should visit them after this.
“Hai, hai!” Chi, freshly bathed by the looks of it, greeted and clambered up to sit beside her. “Go’d mo’ning!” He hugged her side.
“Good morning. Did you sleep well?”
“Yeah, I did. Did you?” Jamyang thought of her night. It was okay. No nightmares, but some sounds around the temples made her jittery.
“Yeah, I slept well.”
Jampo came flying through an open window and landed on their table. "Chir!" He turned and presented the letter tube strapped to his back. Jamyang stared and sighed.
She didn't want to deal with anything right now
Notes:
Does anyone have that food you'll be willing to marry if it was possible? For me it's Thai meatballs and knomjean, a type of rice noodles. If anyone searches it up, try 'khanom chin' instead, the singer might come up if you search 'knomjean.' But those food, I'll marry them in a heartbeat if I could. I'm like this 🤤🤤 every time I eat them. Yam won sen, a type of Thai salad, is a close third.  Hey, by the way. Hope you're doing well, it's currently 2:30 in the morning. Jamyang deals with the aftermath of her actions, she knows what she sees isn't real and deals with it in her own way. Gawa is upset that Jamyang had to kill people because she didn't want her to do that. What could the letter Jampo carried be?  Words: ani: aunt achack: older sister Soysungwarn: a slightly curved sak yant tattoo that goes from collarbone to collarbone. momo: tibetan dumplings thenthuk: is a type of thukpa, a noodle soup. "Then" means pull and "thuk" means noodles rousong: pig floss

TERRORVISION - Review
Tumblr media
DATES: September 13th – November 5th, 2024 THEATER: Horrowood Studios, 340 West 43rd Street, New York City
SYNOPSIS: Guests embark on a tour of the dilapidated Horrowood Studios and go ‘behind the screams’ with a sneak peek of the filming of the upcoming TerrorVision Halloween episode. As things go terribly awry, guests are forced to face an immersive walk through haunted house style experience, overflowing with gruesome creatures and movie magic special effects. 140 actors inhabit the world of TerrorVision, which includes over 20,000 square feet of rooms, passageways and fright-making it one of the largest theatrical experiences in New York City.
Tumblr media
REVIEW: I recently had the opportunity to experience TERRORVISION on the second night of their bringing their chills and thrills to time square. Being there slightly before the doors opened, there was already a nice crowd gathering for the evening.
Tumblr media
The team behind TERRORVISION are co-directors Will Munro and Katie McGeoch, who have designed some of the largest horror experiences in the industry, ranging from theme parks to Broadway productions, and have created large immersive events in New York City and in Europe. For more than two decades they’ve served as the heads of Six Flags’ Fright Fest. In 2022, TERROR premiered their first horror endeavor, “BEDLAM,” in the former Ripley’s Believe it or Not on West 42nd Street.
We were greeted in the lobby by the “spooky” elevator operator, who made several apologies for the delay. Second day, first group through, it was to be expected and not too long of a wait. On the ride up she laid out the premise, reviewed the rules, and ushered us into the introductory room of the maze.
Tumblr media
The press release mentions “… guests step through a flickering television screen…” and “face three tales of terror with each manifesting as an immersive walk through haunted house style experience…” After leaving that first room it really didn’t feel like there were “three tales of terror” and there was nothing to sustain the illusion of a studio or the set of a horror episode, much less “step through a flickering television screen.”
I enjoyed the layout of the maze and the design. There are clearly several different themes, but, again, nothing that seems to tie them together. They were sparsely dressed and, other than the lighting design, didn't have other elements to enhance the atmosphere. Likewise, many of the winding corridors left like they were missing elements and were lacking any immersive attributes. Some of the lighting seemed a bit off. Some of the costumes and makeup were impressive and creepy. The final room was anticlimactic and didn’t provide a bang of a send off.
Tumblr media
The majority of the actors are jumping out from behind the scenes or hidden alcoves, simply screaming at the guests. I came away feeling like a child who is constantly yelled at. There was almost no dialogue and what was uttered didn’t add to their supposed narrative. The silent ones in the better costumes and makeup were the creepiest part of the experience. I wasn’t impressed by the actors who greeted us outside while we were waiting for the experience to open. They frequently dropped out of character, and one walked the line constantly eating cookies.
Over the years I’ve visited many haunted attractions, from independent productions to Universal Studios. Some of the most memorable haunts employ creative music and sound design, cinematic lighting tricks and chilling visual effects. Some go an extra step and add an aroma element, which I’m not a big fan of. They provided the unexpected by manipulating the guests with illusions built into the environments. TERRORVISION is a bit flat, there were no “wow” moments or anything memorable that left me wanting to go through again. There was no smoke and mirrors, or basic, or technical, magic.
The press release and location inflated my expectations but the experience didn’t live up to the hype. However, it was only the second night. Who's to say that there weren’t missing elements or rooms weren’t completely actualized yet. Hopefully, they’ll get things up to speed by the end of September as people look to get their fright on.
Fright seekers can choose from three levels of terror: “Chicken” ticket - This allows guests to wear a special amulet to become “invisible” to the monsters. This is perfect for those who do not want to be touched by the ghouls, though still get some residual scares.
General Admission - This is the standard level of scary, heart pounding fun.
Ultimate Terror – Suited for the most brave guests only, this upgrade will ensure you’re targeted throughout the experience. Bring a change of underwear, you’re going to need it.
All three levels can also add the RIP/VIP immediate entry upgrade, which skips the general admission line. There is an upcharge for the “Chicken” and Ultimate Terror ticket. Pricing varies nightly.
Tickets, beginning at $39, are available at www.facetheterror.com, with early bird pricing available until September 19.

‘One More Time’: iDom is Ready to Send Street Fighter V Off With a Bang at Capcom Cup
Tumblr media
Every fighting game has eras that are dominated by particular players, individuals who consistently dominate that game's competitive scene at every tournament for a protracted length of time. And Street Fighter V has been living in the iDom era since 2019. Derek "iDom" Ruffin, as his moniker suggests, is accustomed to winning, as seen by the ten first-place finishes he earned when fighting in SFV last year and the two most amazing bouts the game has ever witnessed during his run in Evo 2022. While he’s been a force in SFV since entering the game in 2017, iDom’s blazed a trail through the competitive scene in 2019—ending it with a Capcom Cup title. Now, after more than three years of delays, he will defend that championship in Hollywood when Capcom Cup IX runs from Feb. 14 to 19. Not only will this be the biggest Street Fighter tournament in years, but it will also be the last true Major for SFV ahead of Street Fighter 6 launching in June. While preparing for the competition, iDom spoke to Dot Esports about defending his belt, SFV’s legacy, and early impressions of SF6 from a competitive perspective. How excited are you to finally return to Capcom Cup? You are technically defending your title since you won the last in-person Capcom Cup in 2019, but in general, how does it feel knowing you will soon be fighting for that title again in front of a crowd at such a unique event? iDom: It’s always fun to play in front of a lot of people at events like Capcom Cup. The last big event I went to was Evo , and the energy in that crowd was just so huge. Capcom Cup and Evo are kind of the two big ones when it comes to Street Fighter, so it’s always nice to play in front of those crowds and I’m excited to play against the strongest players in the world. This one is kind of different since it was a Regional based system instead of just a lot of Japanese, American, or European players. And a lot more regions means a lot more diversity for the players and the gameplay. Capcom Cup will essentially be the last of the true Street Fighter V Majors, outside of Evo Japan, since the game is in its tail end ahead of Street Fighter 6’s launch in June. How important is it for you to kind of end SFV with that title and say “the game is going down, but I am going down at the top?” I feel like I have had a really good end of Street Fighter V. I’ve been playing really good towards the end of the game so I want to show off my skills. I want to show that I’m still one of the best Street Fighter V players out there and then really carry that momentum from my play into Street Fighter 6 because, when a new game comes out, I’m a very slow learner. I definitely feel like I get better the longer a game has been out. How have preparations for Capcom Cup been for you? After Evo, FGC Majors tend to dry up a bit in terms of offline events, so how has it been preparing for such a big tournament with only online and smaller offline events to help you ramp up? I honestly feel like my preparation has been good. There’s a lot of strong players in the northeast area, a whole bunch of great Ed, Luke, Ibuki, and Cody players. So I feel like I’m in tip-top shape because all of the players around me are really strong and some play those strong characters. You’re only as good as the players you play. So I’m feeling great, to be honest. You mentioned characters there. Since this will be the final peak for SFV in terms of tournament play, what characters are you the most excited to see and the least excited to play against at Capcom Cup? Obviously the least excited is probably Luke. You know, because he is crazy strong right now and kind of a terror with how many good players use him. I’m most excited to see the players who are known for playing unique characters like Ed, we have a lot of Ken players, so I’m excited to see how they do against the Luke army. Jumping into SF6 impressions, you’ve had the chance to play the game quite a bit thanks to the online beta tests after getting your first taste at Evo’s demo stations last August against LI Joe. Just from your time on the sticks, how have your opinions on the game changed with more play time? I just want to put this on the record, I still want my run back against LI Joe. We played when I had no idea how to play the game and that was my first time playing. So I want that run back, but the game is pretty fun overall. With the betas, I have a way better understanding of the game than I did at Evo so I think it is shaping up to be really, really nice. It’s like a different pace than Street Fighter V and all of the other Street Fighter games. I’m really excited to see how players react to the game and how they’re going to shape up strategies once it is out. Does anything mechanically stick out to you as the most interesting when it comes to the battle system and movement options? I like a lot of things they are doing with the movement and I think that will be super important at the core of the gameplay. I think Drive Rush is sick and Drive Break is cool. The only thing I am a bit concerned about is Drive Impact, but you know, maybe as the game gets more fleshed out and people understand it better, those concerns will go away. Even from what I’ve seen online and from Capcom running a few of those tournaments when the beta was up, it looks like players are going to have a pretty great understanding of what to do with those new mechanics. How ready are you to get that fresh, fighting game launch feeling with a new Street Fighter game again? Most players say the first few months with a game are the best because people spend the time playing and learning together with everyone else, so how excited are you for that to happen with SF6? I’m pretty excited. I know a lot of people view that as a honeymoon phase where everyone’s super excited and no one knows what’s going on. So it’s really hype and you get to see stuff you have never seen before basically every day because the game is still new. I’ve always been excited for new stuff, but I do think games are at their peak when everyone knows what they’re doing, like when a game is fully fleshed out. Even at the end of Street Fighter V’s lifespan right now, obviously a lot of players are playing Luke and have strategies locked in already, but I think that’s pretty hype to see. Everyone’s already using the best stuff and knows how to optimize those strategies and combos because the game is so old I guess. With this being the sunset for SFV, what are you going to miss most about the game? To be honest, and I know everyone’s probably gonna hate me for saying this, but I’m gonna actually miss V-Trigger. I think V-Trigger was a good mechanic. It was pretty fun and you actually diversify your playstyle around it. Guilty Gear Strive showed just how much online improvements could impact things like online tournaments and practicing with other players from different regions. How do you think the improved online performance and matchmaking for SF6 will help the competitive scene? I’m so excited for this. I like a lot of the online tournaments and I play Strive, so I know a lot of the online capabilities of the game are really good. I can play basically any region in the U.S. and even further without dealing with too many issues. I do think online is great for the competitive community, but I also think people should still come out to their locals and go to offline events. I do think there is a passion there that just can’t be matched online, but it is obviously a good thing to have good netcode and stuff like that. Over the last three or so years, a lot of fighting game players have essentially entered the scene by playing entirely online due to COVID and other factors, so they might be preparing to enter their first offline event with SF6. What kind of advice would you give to those players who might enjoy a game but are a little nervous about going to even something like a local? My advice would be to just do it. I remember in 2012 when I went to my first local for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, I had a great time because I got to sit down and play a lot of casuals with strong players while we were just hanging out. It really helps you improve and get better at the game. Whether you are looking to improve and get better or you just want to make friends and stuff, going to locals is way better than just doing it online. Playing online and making friends there is great, but meeting them in person is still way better. How do you feel playing other fighting games like Marvel vs. Capom or Guilty Gear Strive will help you in adapting to SF6? A lot of pros are talking about how different the game is and how hard it might be for some players to grasp these new or returning concepts.I always feel like the more fighting games you’ve played throughout your life, the bigger of an advantage you have over people who have just focused on one game or series because you can see things from multiple perspectives. As a Street Fighter player, you can look at something in a certain way that is different from a Granblue or Guilty Gear player, or whatever it might be. For myself, I think I have a pretty good outlook and am optimistic about the different views I bring to how to play any game. On the content side of things, how excited are you for all of the weird modes and single player stuff SF6 will bring to the table? There’s a lot of content I want to do when it comes to the game with all of the weird mini-games like that one where they whack the barrel back at each other and the competitive content for tournaments is going to be great. SF6 is just one big avenue because there are so many new characters and things to show off to people. Something like a fresh start. Would you enter a tournament based around all of those mini-games? You know Jebailey and some of the other tournament organizers are going to have them as side events at their Majors. If they do tournaments for stuff like that basketball or barrel mini-game, I mean, I’m all for it. I’ll enter because I just like seeing stuff like that. There are so many fighting games coming out or getting updates this year, with Granblue getting a new iteration with rollback, SF6 coming out, and Strive still releasing new characters. Do you think you’re still going to be able to juggle your core games alongside these new ones you want to try? Yeah, I’m pretty sure I can juggle all of the games I want to try because I am excited for them and have been doing something similar already. I can’t wait for SF6 and I really do like Guilty Gear Strive, and Marvel 3 is the first game I really started playing at that high level. I’m also excited for Granblue and then there are games like Diablo 4 coming out too. You know I gotta get on Diablo 4 but man, I didn’t realize they put that game on the same weekend as Street Fighter. I’ve got a lot of grinding to do. I gotta find a way to make time to play all these games coming up. Read the full article

CONSUMED
A Terror Sci-Fi AU  |  Part of The Terror Big Bang 2022
Featuring artwork by @oughtnots
The remains of the Discovery Ship Terebus are found in a region of space where they’re not supposed to be. A region of space where nothing is supposed to be.
Per navy protocol the ship has consumed itself in an attempt to generate enough power to keep the crew - locked in stasis - alive until they can be rescued. After over twenty years there’s almost nothing left of it. Only seven pods out of 24 remain.
Seven men, trapped inside their dreams.
Stasis is meant as measure of last-resort to hold out a few weeks. Months at most. Not decades. After so long the minds inside those bodies might be empty. They might be insane.
If the truth of what went wrong with the Terebus and its mission is ever going to become known, someone will have to try to coax the survivors back into the waking world. A trusted friend. A kind and handsome face.
Sir James Clark Ross is an old man now, and fragile. Fate has given him one final chance to save the friends who sailed away without him into the dark, all those years ago. He has to try.

Hello all! We are here with this year’s closing survey. Reflecting on this year and looking toward the next. If you have suggestions or concerns, this is the place for those.
To that point, we are aware of the issues surrounding the post-claims drop out rule that was announced far too late in the game this year.
The rule will remain, as it is fairly standard for large events across fandoms (the mods have personal experience with it in the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings/Silmarillion fandoms) and also drastically improved the situation we've had with ghosting in the past. However, it will be baked in from the start now, and we will be making more thorough announcement posts prior to the start of next years Bang.
Please fill out this survey by November 30th to give feedback on your 2022 Terror Big Bang experience.
