HAHHA don't worry these asks are fun and i enjoy them so don't apologize for giving me a good time. i do apologise for taking such a long time w these asks, im actually horrible at articulating my thoughts (which is why i am not a writer HA) i think i might be forgetting some characters, or maybe i just dont have alot of faves

1. itoshi rin (blue lock)

i feel like he sticks out like a sore thumb here but he's very much no. 1... something about him being an antisocial introverted hater with abandonment issues, but also has skills to back up his arrogance and (besides all the hate he lets fester within him) actually has a pretty healthy lifestyle.

2. itadori yuuji (jujutsu kaisen)

everything about yuuji is so inherently GOOD and it both interests + pains me to see him being put through all these trials and tribulations of a dark shonen mc 😭

3. gojo satoru (jujutsu kaisen)

i think, like rin, what makes him so interesting is that he has this arrogant and disrespectful personality but then again he's literally the strongest so you cant do jack shit about it. but on the other hand he's this playful goofy (incapable) teacher who spoils his students. i also love OP (to the point it dont make sense) characters.

4. dazai osamu (bungo stray dogs)

i find his inability to be truly happy in any universe fascinating.

5. tachihara michizo (bungo stray dogs)

if i explained it would be major spoilers for s4 and s5 of bsd so i'll just say that his contribution to the plot in the recent seasons really did it for me. the jump from s1 to s4 was a KICK.

6. mikage reo (blue lock)

he's a sopping wet sock. i think this is what people call a gap moe... this perfect, highly capable and charming individual turns into the most pathetic instance of man when his best friend leaves him.

7. giorno giovanna (jojo's bizarre adventure: golden wind)

his birth origins are alr wild. his stand is wild. his battle strategies are wild. his ending is wild. he (alongside jotaro) is probably the least expressive but his personality is so unique lol. a lil rascal.

8. kita shinsuke (haikyuu!!)

its been a while since anyone has mentioned haikyuu for me but kita remains as one of my fav characters LOL i think he's just very refreshing since the cast is full of hungry teenage monsters eager to win and he's almost like a breeze of calm HAHA. the inarizaki team is also very dear to me bcs theyre packed w such cool and strong characters that interact dynamically lol

9. tsukumo yuki (jujutsu kaisen)

honestly, she was the most interesting female character in jujutsu kaisen (for me) until gege decided to trash her. her appearances from todo's flashbacks to her in shibuya were all so badass, plus shes a good example of a character type i really like that radiates strong-confident-fighter aura but isnt really the brooding/dark type... but fun! ykyk. (oot but i REALLY wanted yuki at #9 bcs of her name LOL, realistically she wouldve been at #7)

10. raiden ei (genshin impact) + raiden shogun

again, another insanely OP character that it doesn't even make sense. her lore is crazy. the second raiden quest was what got me hooked (best story quest ever lol), i honestly can't pinpoint what it is from that quest since its been a while but it changed my whole perspective on her and i've been a raiden fan since. a combination of design, personality, lore, and strength (and additionally the raiden ensemble)

24. Stand ability you wish you had?

I'm going to say that it's the same answer I've had for any "if you had superpowers what would you want" kind of question. It's the very queer/autistic answer of shapeshifting. idk man having the ability to change yourself to look exactly how you want or to fit any given situation sounds pretty fucking fantastic. Sorry Hot Pants but mom says it's my turn with the spray.

26. Stand ability you thought didn’t suit the character it belonged to?

Hermit Purple. I think it's more due to that being the beginning of the stand era in JoJo. It's not so much that it doesn't suit Joseph, more that it just doesn't feel fleshed out? Like it's missing something that would have made it feel more like his essence.

56. Any headcanons?

OH BOY. Literally too many. JoJo characters just rotate in my brain like they're in a microwave. We'll do one for JoJos 1-6.

Jonathan- Had the whole debacle with Dio not happened the way it did and if he'd lived a full life I think he would have developed stand abilities. I think his stand would be a bridge between hamon abilities and traditional stand powers.

Joseph- Joseph has ADHD. I don't even think this one is much of a stretch. He was a menace in school. Absolute class clown and his teachers ran out of people to have him sit next to in hopes of shutting him up because he's so charismatic and well liked. Erina gave up on having him go to a traditional school and went through so many tutors until she found one who could work with his learning style instead of against it.

Jotaro- This one's not an original one but I like the idea that what set Jotaro on the path of becoming aggressive as a teen was him being bullied for being different. He was only half Japanese. He was tall. His hair wasn't straight. He had light eyes. His classmates took advantage of his meekness when he was younger and gave him shit when adults weren't looking. This also corresponded with his dad's music career taking off so he wasn't around to offer support and he DEFINITELY didn't want to bother his mom with it. So he bottled up his anger until he reached a breaking point and lashed out. And he learned that using his fists earned him respect. Acting tough meant no one would fuck with him and that he'd be left alone.

Josuke- Josuke's fear of turtles also extends to amphibians and other reptiles. He has no idea what sparked the phobia but he's had it since he was a little kid. He meets Giorno when he's an adult and he helps him to slowly overcome his fear by letting him interact with those animals in a safe way. Somehow knowing that the tiny frog he's holding was a stapler 5 minutes ago makes it easier. Plus now he's finally able to talk to Polnareff without getting queasy.

Giorno- Absolutely fucking loves puzzle games of all sorts. Sudoku, Rubix cubes, Tetris, Wordle, you name it he'll play it. Bonus points if they're solitary games. He just really enjoys a good brain teaser and the feeling of figuring things out.

Jolyne- Her parents tried to put her in all sorts of activities when she was a little kid and it took a few attempts to find things she liked. Ballet frustrated her because her teacher was mean and she found the need to be perfect stifling. She liked tumbling but once she got into actual gymnastics she ran into a similar issue, but she loved learning more modern forms of dance like hip hop which allowed more freedom of expression. And then they put her in a karate class at 5 and she absolutely loved it. Didn't keep up with it past 10 or so but she learned some valuable fighting and life skills there. She's still friends with the (now) old man who taught her class and brings his family gifts at Christmas time.

Last Song: Bridge of Life by P!nk, from the Happy Feet 2 soundtrack:

Hot take, I think Happy Feet 2 is better than Happy Feet 1. There are some lower lows, but it has higher highs. Erik's big moment, the krill subplot, and the songs are all great. And the way dancing is justified as the solution to the problem makes much more sense than in 1.

Favorite Color: Blue. Always has been, always will be. The ocean, sky, the walls of my goddamn bedroom. I love blue.

Last Book: I recently read 5 random graphic novels from the library. Some were okay, some kinda sucked.

The Heart Hunter had an okay premise but the paneling was terrible and the writing was unbearably corny, using every "heart" idiom literally. Like "this character is honest and has high empathy, so they literally wear their bleeding heart on their sleeve". Shit like that, all over the place.

The Black Mage had better paneling but even worse writing. It was trying to do an anti-racist take on Harry Potter, but with 10,000 more anime references and no sense of subtlety or how to write a mystery. Like, the main character is the only black wizard at a white wizard school, and he meets the headmaster who is literally in KKK robes, then later he meets the ghost of Harriet Tubman who tells him that this school used to be a base for the KKK and he's like "wow, that's horrible", and I'm like HOW DID YOU NOT CATCH ON BEFORE NOW?! There's a whole mystery about why he was admitted to the school and one of the teachers mentions, for the first time, the mandatory school "ritual" all the students have to attend, then a few pages later it's revealed the ritual is sacrificing him to power the school.

Legend was pretty good. A classic "fight the corrupt government" thing with an actually well-written mystery to solve. Though the plot twist regarding the plague had me doing a triple-take because of how much it reminded me of COVID conspiracy theories, until I looked it up and learned this graphic novel came out in 2015 and any relation to COVID is purely a coincidence.

By Night was okay. Good writing, but the story was pretty slow and weak. It felt like it really wanted me asking questions about all the mysteries it was setting up, but like almost all the mysteries were answered already, or could be extrapolated from existing information easily. And the other world clearly has some sort of government and politics, but it doesn't feel like it, it feels like an empty fantasyland. Too much telling, not enough showing.

Constantine: Distorted Illusions was pretty good. A look at John Constantine's teenage years as a rebellious youth. The paneling was solid and the writing had a good sense of realism. The plot was a little bare-bones, but it had some cool moments. Great art and character designs.

Last Movie: Dr Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. I liked it. It was very "Stephen King", but I thought it was an interesting direction to take the story and it worked well as an action-horror movie in contrast with the first movie being straight horror. In that aspect, it reminded me of the transition from Alien to Aliens. I reject the complaints that the girl being super-powerful made her a Mary Sue. Like yeah, she's strong, but her power is literally the MacGuffin, she's got a distinctive personality and character arc, and she doesn't solve all the problems. Hell, she hardly solves any problems, she mainly just plays support for the adults so they can solve the problems.

Last TV Show: The last episode I watched was for Dragon Ball Daima, but I'd put Dandadan here, since I binged all the episodes that were out a week or so ago. It's good shit. Weird but good, you can see the DNA of Chainsaw Man in it, and some distant inspiration from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. The running scene set to a remix of the William Tell Overture had my jaw on the floor.

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: Savory, all the way. In fact, I took a food class in college and had to report everything I ate, and it turns out I eat too much protein and not enough carbs. Ever since then, I've been trying to increase my sugar intake, but that's hard to do since I don't really like fruit.

Relationship Status: Single and lonely.

Last Thing I Googled: The last thing I Googled on Ecosia was "dortitos" because I was looking for the meme that went like "to. open. dortitos. bag.". Unfortunately, search engines suck now and no amount of quotes or pluses will make them search for "dortitos" instead of auto-correcting it to "doritos", so I couldn't find the meme.

Current Obsessions: Dragon Ball and One Piece are eternal, but Daima has definitely re-sparked interest in Dragon Ball. I don't know if I really have a "current" obsession, like right now, though.

I was in the bathroom doing my business when my mommy senses told me that Katie had visitors and that Elizabeth was taking a nap. I finished up, flushing the toilet and closing the lid before washing my dirty paws.

When I left the bathroom, I found a dozen giggling kids all surrounding Katie while a woman stood off to the side.

“Hello, I’m the teacher in charge of the color guard club,” she introduced herself with a smile.

“Hello, I am the all might super mommy goddess,” I told her before turning. “If anyone wakes up Elizabeth, may your god smile down on you with kindness.”

“But mommy, Lizz Lizz can sleep through a hurricane!” Katie whined, hugging Jing close to her. “Nothing can ever wake her.”

This was true- once Elizabeth was asleep for the night, then she would almost always sleep all the way through the night. From nine o’clock PM at night until seven o’clock AM in the morning were her lights out hours.

“Still, use your gentle voice, yeah?” I turned to the teacher, hoisting Baby Jojo into my arms and popping out my hip to rest her onto. With a quiet babble, she settled into a nap with her fingers entangled in my loose red curls.

“Wow, no wonder the fans call you a super mommy!” she teased me as Baby Tommy led the rest of his little siblings up to the both of us. “Where is Peter by the way?”

“Right here!” he rumbled as he came swooping into the hospital room.

“Daddy!” Baby Tommy screeched before leading a stampede of Ratajczyk babies over to demand cuddles with their daddy. “Daddy, mesies wantsies uppie up ups!”

Peter chuckled as he sat himself into his thronelike chair before welcoming all the babies to come and perch across his manly chest.

“Wowee…” A little boy turned to Katie. “Your daddy is big.”

“Six foot eight inches,” Peter told him as he got himself comfortable. “I ate my vegetables as a child.”

Katie’s friends from Saint Micheal’s color guard club were all looking at my handsome older husband with awe and wonder shining in their eyes.

“Uh oh my love…” I giggled, taking a seat on his knee at his silent invitation. “If I didn’t know any better, then I would say that you started a revolution!”

“Oops.” Here, he just leaned forward to run his nose lovingly against my cheek. “I’m not sorry at all- if anything, I’m rather proud for encouraging the kids to eat their greens!”

“You want to know something sweetheart, but I have no idea what you��re saying when you speaking those languages that you know,” he hummed, chuckling as Baby Teddy snorted in his sleep before nudging Baby Eve out of the way as he then promptly spread out, taking up as much of the vast expansive chest of his daddy’s as he possibly could.

“Daddy? Mesies melkiy?” Baby Eve surprised us with just then, looking absolutely cute as a button curled in tightly on her daddy’s chest.

“Znaete lee vy russky yazyk?” Peter chuckled before realizing. “Wait a minute- cack vy znaete russky yazyk?”

I was cackling as I helped little Baby Eve down and walked with her to the bathroom, shutting the door behind the both of us. I took a perch onto the edge of the tub as she tugged her shorts down to her ankles and got onto the toilet.

“Where on earth did you pick up Russian?” I asked her good humoredly as she kicked her little feet to the beat of some song playing in her head.

Baby Eve could only giggle as I handed her a few squares of toilet paper for her to wipe herself clean.

“Bye bye pee pee!” she called as I flushed the toilet before hoisting her up to wash her hands. “Mommy, mesies wantsies to wun!”

“You want to run?” I repeated after her, making certain that o knew what she was asking me. “Okay, I can let you work off your baby zoomies by running back and forth in the hallway, okay?”

         HUNTER!!!!!

         WE HAVE A NAME AND HE’S HUNTER!!!

         I cannot WAIT to use this tag now!

         Also Hunter the Golden Guard… My beloved… Your tooth gap was NOT expected but it’s literally the most ADORABLE thing, I can’t believe it!

         Hunter is babey, I don’t care anymore… He really DOES have a soft side, and like Lilith, he’s caught between the Owl House and the Emperor’s Castle… HENCE, his placement in the intro! Speaking of;

         NEW INTRO!!! Amity has a new necklace now, it’s a crescent moon over a black circle, which reminds me a LOT of that cloaked, crescent moon figure from the trailer… Is this the guardian of the Eclipse Lake, and after her trial there, Amity will be gifted a new necklace in recognition? Just like her shoes…!

         Also, Amity stayed home- Alas, the show had to focus on the palismen, having Lumity would’ve overbrimmed everything… I bet she’s LOVE sick! HA-haaa… But alas, no Palisman for Amity! But we DID get Palismen for a few others…!

         Firstly, I’m so happy to see Eda use her whistle… AND HELL YEAH it’s a scenario where the Bat Queen tells Eda that this one is on her, this doesn’t COUNT as a ‘favor’ because the Bat Queen wants to do this! And Bump… BUMP MY BOY! Letting Eda be a mentor and teacher here, as she gets to erase and redo her past pains from Hexside, gets to teach OTHER kids besides Luz… The symbolism of her becoming a teacher as well!

         AND BUMP! BUMP’S FACE AND BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!! Frewin is confirmed a Palisman that he uses to see, we FINALLY have the answer from Dana herself! Given the scar, I have to wonder how young he got it, seeing as how he was a kid conquering Hexside when he wore Frewin…!

         ALSO PALISMEN!!! Willow gets Clover, a bee- Fitting given how bees help plants pollinate! When BQ said Clover, I expected it to be the plant palisman, but it seems the writers weren’t THAT obvious… Although, a Plant Palisman would’ve been cool, because I think Plant creatures are cool, especially in a scene dominated by animals! Willow basically saying she’s going to snap a bitch in half if they look at her funny, you love to see it!

         BOSCHA! Boscha character moment… Sue me, I like Boscha, and she gets a crab named Maya, due to her competitive spirit! Haha, because she IS a crabby person… AND VINEY! VINEY GETS A SPEAKING ROLE HOLY SHIT IT’S ONLY A SINGLE LINE BUT-

         When we saw Viney and Jerbo I didn’t expect this to be SUCH a major character moment as Palismen! And it’s a Manticore, and we get to see that she wants to become a veterinarian, because what else?! Nothing for Jerbo alas…

         GUS! Gus wants to be an ambassador to the human realm, NICE…! Also he’s continuing that theme of expanding beyond just illusions, and he also confirmed that Perry wants him to be an Illusionist! With how he acknowledges that, will we see multi-track Gus in the future? Not to mention, with Luz planning to find her own way back home… Gus plans to bridge contact, and that makes SO much sense I love it! I love these glimpses at what witches want to be and their goals! Gus got some sort of… Squirrel thing, I’m afraid I don’t quite recognize the animal –assuming it isn’t a fictional one entirely- so I can’t find the symbolism;

         Not that I know squirrel symbolism, either! And then finally, ‘Shigechi’ (because he looks like Shigechi from Jojo) gets a sloth, because he just wants to get things done, one step at a time… Take it easy, just focus on figuring out what’s ahead of him immediately, no rush! Fitting, I like it…!

         Also, we don’t see the rest of the process, but I have to wonder if there are palismen that are missing from the group in this scene, and then when we next see them later that night; If there are, we can deduce these Palismen were assigned to the remaining students of Skara, Jerbo, and Willow’s fan! It shouldn’t be TOO hard to figure out, but I have no clue…

         And I ADORE how they already figured out that idea of Palismen adoption, ahead of time?! These characters are proactive and thoughtful off-screen and it’s honestly neat, efficient, and refreshing to see! Shows how they’re always thinking and figuring things out, I LOVE this epiphany… And Bat Queen being so happy and gentle!

         ALSO LUZ!!! God I LOVE how they acknowledge Luz’s future, and her apprehensions about it are relatable, like the tracks she can’t decide on just one… Not to mention how she’s figuring out the logistics, and again, she puts it into WORDS the implications of heading back home! And how Boscha even points out that Luz’s glyphs probably won’t work in Connecticut… Which, canon home state for Luz, YEAH!

         I love Luz acknowledging how her definition of a witch is changing from her books, calling back to what Covention had Eda say about becoming her ‘own’ witch, but what does that mean when she has to put it into words? It’s such a neat character moment and I love how it shows that Luz’s goals and world is turned upside down with reality… But also, her acknowledging how in the stories, the human always goes back home! And how Luz has to confront that while she wants to return home, will she STAY there?!

         Which… With Luz openly acknowledging the tropes- It gives me hopes that she’ll stay in the Boiling Isles! Or at least routinely visit… Maybe Camila will move with her? I mean we know little on Camila and maybe SHE doesn’t have any friends like her daughter…!

         BUT THAT’S SO SWEET that Eda got the Palistrom wood for Luz?! Her and King!? MOM EDA HELL YEAH and also we might get a Palisman for her, eventually… Or maybe at the very end of the show, who knows? Here’s how Snake palisman can still be canon… But then again, a bird palisman would fit the Clawthorne motifs, if you catch my drift!

         BELOS!!! This dude was GNARLY… He’s body horror incarnate, my man melted into GOOP without his bile, which basically confirms my read and speculation on him as like… Barely holding himself together, and he needs bile to do so or he’ll melt! He’s just amorphous and GOD seeing him do eerie body horror, that shit was TENSE… As was the implication that he gave Hunter his scar, as retaliation for something…

         Speaking of which- Belos is probably cursed by wild magic?! Will we find a source responsible for his AND Eda’s curses?! He was traumatized by wild magic, OHO, that’s interesting… And that’s why he has such a hatred for it, he believes magic should be orderly, controlled, and ‘pure’… HIS idea of magic, restrained but only for the worthy! And it seems to be confirmed that the Day of Unity, as so many speculated, will unite the human and demon realms together- I did see skyscrapers!

         (I guess Gus has his work cut out for him, huh?)

         Belos speaks of a ‘utopia’ that’s ‘pure’ of wild magic… If wild magic is connected to the isles in an elemental sense, based on what Hunter mentioned, and how elements are linked to glyphs… Could wild magic be more connected to the isles, while Belos wants to limit people strictly to the bile in their bodies, cut them off from the outside world! Very symbolic of him… Will merging the Demon Realm with our magicless world work to ‘neutralize’ its latent magic, perhaps spread it thin and weaken it- So only bile magic can work!

         Does Belos plan to neutralize HIS curse if it’s wild magic, drawing magic from the isles itself by doing this?! And Hunter is his nephew… Belos is a Wittebane, obviously- As is Hunter! Hunter Wittebane… Okay maybe not, family names CAN change over time! But it’s obvious he’s Philip’s descendant, and he mentions how his family has lived in the isles for generations… Philip mentioned in his journal entry that his journey in the Demon Realm was ‘far from over’…

         It’s basically confirmed- Philip is part-witch, part-human, and he has no bile sac! And so he can only rely on his staff, gifted to him by Belos… Nice callback to Adventures in the Elements, where Eda explained that Luz can’t just rely on a training wand/staff forever! We see how this works with Hunter, and this poor kid is really trying his best, and he’s so SCARED AND ABUSE… BELOS!!!

         Also is Belos REALLY his uncle? He did say he ‘took in’ Hunter… Which makes it sound like Belos lived separately from the Wittebanes, or maybe he’s just posing! Or, really wild thought, he’s the original Philip himself, somehow still alive but ailed by magic, hence why he didn’t show up for a while… But he IS Hunter’s uncle, so that implies that one of Hunter’s parents could confirm a connection to Belos!

         Which… WHERE IS THIS BABY’S PARENTS-

         Not to mention our glimpse at the Coven Heads! What are those PANTS on the Abomination Head…?! And the Beastkeeping Head has a little leech-worm as a pet, that’s adorable… AND RAYNE CAMEO! Still hoping for names and voices from the Coven Heads, but alas…! And we saw all the shots from them from the trailer, so this could very well be all we see for Season 2A… I hope not, hopefully Eda’s Requiem will show more through Rayne! And as I guessed, that scene with them was connected to the blue fire showing the Titan, and the brazier!

         Kikimora isn’t the dragon, I’m lowkey salty… But she IS its master! Does she come from like… The hands of the Titan, and that’s why there’s a constant Hand motif? She sure does seem salty over Hunter’s special treatment, to the point of murder- Does she know what Hunter means to Belos? She did overhear the assignment, she might’ve overheard what Hunter said about their connection…

         Does she just want power, or does she feel shafted by Belos, whom she admires, in favor of his bratty nephew who can’t even cast REAL magic?! Also, Hunter sure was projecting onto Luz and Eda when dismissing that they can’t wield ‘real’ magic… And ‘Half-a-witch’ from Amity sure takes on a WHOLE new meaning now, huh?!

         Also, if Hunter and Belos are related, and Hunter’s family can’t cast bile magic… Then this basically confirms that Belos can’t, either? Except he CAN through… Unnatural means, specifically harvesting and devouring Palismen! That was another on-screen Palisman death, this dude is ROLLING… Is there something special about Palisman bile? I feel Belos is the type to gladly gorge from his enemies, and maybe he ALSO does that on the side… But it could have something to do with Palistrom wood’s properties, I dunno.

         But yeah, Belos being cursed/possessed by the monster that killed King’s father… It’s looking MORE likely, especially with the coloration of his sharpened tendril, compared to Jean-Luc! And Kikimora… What ARE you goals, and why, exactly?! Do you just want power, to depose Belos for yourself? Or do you want his admiration? Does she recognize that Belos’ love for Hunter seems a little conditional, so she’s willing to risk murdering him?

         How WOULD Belos react to Hunter’s death? With how he can’t do bile magic, it seems like Belos has no need for him besides genuine, familial attachment and sentimentality… He’s an abuser, but he’s the kind that seems to care to some degree, or at least feel obligated. Maybe he really is lonely deep down, even if he’s still a blatant abuser to Hunter! I think Belos WANTS this kid, but how much? How’d he react to Hunter’s death…?

         Also, anyone else think Kikimora was deliberately handicapped for this fight? Not only for the sleep mist to keep her from recognizing Hunter, and to keep Hunter from knowing she recognized him, the latter is more important it seems… But also, the mist kept us from a proper introduction to Kikimora’s power? We still have that berserk state from the intro…

         AND LUZ! Luz being so cheeky and messing with Hunter, hanging him out to dry in front of those Covenscouts! Also… That ‘tattoo’ might be the Emperor’s BRAND, which it does seem purely symbolic in that case- But then again, it might need bile to ‘activate’ and prove a Covenscout’s membership, hence why it’s useless for Hunter. Oh boy… We never did see Lilith’s bare arms, DID we…? On another note, it seems the Emperor’s Brand is meant for identification, which makes a lot of common sense and I’m surprised none of us considered that!

         I love Luz acknowledging her compassion with Hunter, letting her guard down with him… Hunter’s little moments of goofiness, he’s not THAT competent, he’s still just a teen! And Lilith’s quote on him being a ‘genius teen prodigy’ takes on a different level… Did Hunter and Belos fake it entirely through the staff? Or is it at least somewhat true regardless- Hunter does seem like a very avid student, this kid is probably autistic or ADHD, he ain’t neurotypical and this is a new hill I have erected to DIE on!

         Him geeking out with Luz, actually finding a real friend to engage with, and it settling in for her that as Lilith said, he IS just a teen… God Hunter is so much more adorable than I could’ve imagined! His little friendship with his Cardinal palisman, when it rejected Luz I KNEW…! That’s not his old Palisman, but his NEW one instead… Quick, apply the symbolism to him! I love Hunter geeking out, and how he’s clearly intrigued in wild magic- Not just for Belos, but for curiosity!

         And Belos… TOLERATES this, because that’s his own flesh and blood (metaphorically because Belos’ body ain’t recognizable anymore), but he’s got his obvious warning signs and is more or less a canon, physical abuser. But just… HUNTER being into wild magic, and researching it! And Belos’ disgust because of his own trauma, his own desire for a ‘safer’ world, a ‘pure’ world… Did he talk to the Titan or not?! Is he just faking it and anybody who questioned him was killed, so then EVERYONE took it as truth, especially kids who grew up with this?

         (Nice touch with the Abomitons with Belos… I wonder if Alador might try to install his own cameras or override control as a safeguard, but who knows? Those things are DEADLY.)

         Also dang… Eda really is the fun Wine Aunt, and Belos is literally the Evil Uncle! Juxtapositions… Luz and Hunter parallels as well, as bile-less witches! I’ve always wanted to see a witch born without a bile sac, and while Hunter obviously gets this from his human ancestry, close enough! Disability symbolism and representation, YEAH! And how Hunter is likely shamed for this ‘disability’ by Belos, made to feel inadequate and how he has to ‘fix’ himself with the staff… And Belos ain’t changing anytime soon like Gwen did!

         All in all, this was… A HUGE episode, in terms of plot, of lore, of revelations, for Belos and the Golden Guard, for Kikimora! A Rayne cameo, character moments as well, discussing Luz’s goals and future from here on… Palismen providing further symbolism for pre-existing characters! And that Echo Mouse, Luz DID keep it as a pet, but alas- It’s withholding that Wittebane lore, curse you after all! Maybe she’ll carve her Palisman off of it, in a moment of inspiration while looking around;

         The Echo Mouse DOES represent Luz realizing a way back home, learning of a human who could exist in the Demon Realm and even spawn a lineage… Which fits with Luz being a human and considering her placement in the Boiling Isles and whatnot! Not to mention what it represents for her and Amity… I could see a Mouse Palisman working, which’d be ironic, given DISNEY. But we’ll just have to wait and see!

        Yet another episode that just overwhelms us… And after this, RAYNE!!! RAYNE!!! Rayne is confirmed to be a Coven Head at this point, and we haven’t seen anything traumatic happen for them or any potential ‘father’ who was the previous head of the Bards… So maybe they’ve always been planning this revolution for a while, or maybe it’s a trap! We’ll see… But GOOD ON YOU RAYNE, if you ARE rebelling- Then Luz and Eda can learn what the Day of Unity is through you!

Bridie and Ben have actually been fighting on and off for the last ten years. And frankly, it was all Ben’s fault. He did Bridie very dirty when they were both just teenagers, and has spent a long time not apologising for it. Now his brother Cal is marrying Bridie’s best friend Hattie, and Ben and Bridie are thrust back into each other’s company… and Ben has finally grown up enough to start examining exactly why he’s never been able to get his focus off Bridie.

Hattie and Cal are an adorable couple who just want the best for Ben and Bridie, and get up to all sorts of hijinks with friends trying to get Ben and Bridie to see past their respective blind spots. Ben does, finally, understand just how wrong he was and does a massive grovel, and he and Bridie get together.

Up until that point I was loving the book because Ben and Bridie are so real and so funny with the way they sass and bicker, but the bizarre thing is that they get together shortly after the halfway mark. And then we get into a really strange plot - I can’t even call it a subplot, because it totally takes over the book - where Cal’s ex-girlfriend comes back on the scene and tries to break him and Hattie up, and Ben and Bridie have to team up to outwit her and keep the wedding on track.

Honestly, this just didn’t make any sense. It would have been so much more logical for Jojo to have been BEN’s ex, who found out he was seriously dating Bridie and tried to muscle back in. The way it was, the focus was off Ben and Bridie for probably a good quarter of the book, and it’s just way too much for a subplot.

There’s a lot to like about this book. The characters are so very realistic, down to earth Yorkshire lads and lasses with very ordinary lives - Hattie and Bridie are high school teachers, Cal is a mechanic, Ben leads adventure tours on the muddy moors - and they’re funny, with strong connections and relationships between them. The banter’s genuinely amusing. A couple of things struck me as odd, like Bridie having grown up in the town but having literally no friends apart from Ben and Cal who she’d known since her schooldays. That’s really not how small towns work.

The thing is that the plot is a hot mess once Ben and Bridie resolve their past issues. And no matter how much I enjoyed the writing and the characters, I just can’t ignore that. I’d like to see what this author could produce with an editor who could help them nail down a proper romance plot arc, but I cannot give this more than three stars.

- romulus vs remus just makes me think of dio vs jonathan. two brothers raised by the same parent and yet one still kills the other in the end in order to achieve what he believes will be greatness   - jonathan is a martyrrr his death is exactly like jesus’ in the sense that he could be angry in his final moments but he isn't, and he instead forgives the very thing that’s making him die (jesus with humanity and jonathan with dio) - feel like dio has some judas stuff going on. in his attempt to be happy he betrays and hurts the jesus figures (jonathan and jotaro) in his life but all this does make him even more unsatisfied and results in his death - also jonathan as achilles, doomed to be great but die young, and zepelli as chiron, his wise and older teacher. yeah  - caesar “italian catholic guilt” zeppeli is crushed by a cross that is literally how he dies. </3. there’s a lot u can draw from this to add to caesar’s character arc but the symbolism by itself is just sad. caesar died bc of his own devotion - odysseus and jotaro relate in the sense that both are on such long and perilous journies.......jotaro obv with part 3 but this continues cause he’s never home really which is why his life with his wife and daughter falls apart 🙃 so. - the jotaro and perseus parallels drive me nuts. kill a devil to save his mom. fuck - jotaro and jolyne both have heavy jesus allusion. the conflicts they both face are not the result of their own actions, but the result of their forefathers’ and yet they are sent to clean up the mess. this is the same as jesus being sent as god’s son to cleanse humanity. like jesus, they both had to sacrifice their lives for this cause, just in different ways (jotaro has to devote the rest of his life while jolyne has to end hers early) - polnareff and his stairs scenes with dio and diavolo,,just the set up of the scenes r rlly blatant in their symbolism cause he’s walking UP the stairs when facing dio (god) while he’s looking DOWN the stairs when facing diavolo (the devil). also this can be added to an interesting implication for polnareff’s character cause he never makes it to dio/god and heaven, but diavolo/the devil and hell make it up to him.........just thinking - something something lazarus and avdol something something lazarus and okuyasu something something - kira gives me narcissus vibes cause like his downfall is directly related to his overconfidence in himself which is similar to narcissus - giorno also has jesus vibes cause he’s LITERALLY the son of DIO (GOD!!). and he creates LIFE. it’s literally HIS STAND POWER THAT’S MIRACLE SHIT RIGHT THERE AND THAT IS THE SAME! AS JESUS. - hephaestus being discarded by his parents but still rising up to be one of the 12 most powerful gods gives me big giorno vibes - something something something apollo and hyacinth and abbacchio and bruno - OBVIOUSLY johnny’s whole arc like r u serious? but i think johnny’s more like the lost son than jesus ironically, cause johnny’s whole arc starts with losing himself and who he self-worth and what he values, and then it hones in on his path to rekindling his identity, which is most in line with the lost son parable than anything else. the “loving father” in this case though is not johnny’s actual father but gyro/a crumb of self-esteem JDN;ED[HEO;JD-= - hot “western european catholic guilt” pants being a nun and feeling eternal regret over sacrificing her brother also has saint peter vibes cause saint peter did betray jesus once but he felt so bad abt it and spends the rest of his life devoted to making it right which hot pants does for her brother - the rokakakas in part 8 are just the miracle figs jesus made with a twist that’s literally it im. that’s it <3 - it’s not symbolism exactly but there’s a lot of greek/roman imagery esp in parts 2 and 5 and i think that’s worth noting. ik the majority/all the part takes place in Italy so..duh but it’s!! it’s fitting. jojo draws a lot of its style from roman/greek influences

im sure there’s some shinto symbolism but unfortunately idk enough about shintoism to make the connections 😔 but this is what’s at the top of my head HHH thank u so much once again for asking bro

Albert made sure to stick close to JoJo as they made their way into the old diner. There were too many old men playing pool and too many grey haired waitresses. “Okay, Jo… just act natural and try to fit in…”

JoJo nodded. “Okay… but I am not going to spit,” she stated, looking around the place. Her eyes landed on the man they were looking for easily.

He wasn’t a customer.

He was a server.

“There he is…”

“Okay… here I go…” Al replied, walking in.

The man caught sight of him as he made his way over. “Well, mio dio,” the man called. “Is that who I think it is?”

Albert smiled over at Matt. And he nodded as he caught the man cleaning up an empty booth. “Yeah! Mr. Higgins! It’s me, Albert DaSilva!”

The man’s smile fell. “Oh, my bad…” he said.

Albert squinted as the man tried to walk away. “No, Mr. Higgins… it’s me, Red… Tony’s friend…” he tried again.

At that the man paused before that smile washed back over his face. “Oh… Red! How ya been, kid? Step inta my office!” he said, sitting down at the booth.

The boy followed suit. “So… you… ya work here?”

The man nodded. “Oh yeah, just till I can pay off my parking tickets. Then I’m back on the road, lookin’ for my lovely wife,” he explained. “Ya ever been married?”

Albert cocked his head to the side. “Uh… I’m fifteen…”

His best friends father put his hands up towards him, as if trying to calm him. “Now, now, now, don’t give up hope! Me n’ Vivi didn’t get hitched till we were sixteen… wanted to wait until she got out of the navy,” he smiled.The kid couldn’t tell if he was joking or not. “But enough about that, what’re you doin’ up here, Aaron?”

Opening his mouth to respond, the kid paused, taking a moment to realize that this man really didn’t know his name. “Uh… I’m actually here to talk about Tony…”

A worried look crossed Matt’s features. “Why? Is he sick?”

“No, no!” Albert assures quickly. “He’s just all confused… he really misses you, ya know?”

Matt smiled and nodded. “Yeah… I miss him too… he’s a good kid…”

“Well then come back for him!” the young redhead demanded. “He needs you!”

The words hit Matteo a little harder than he’d expected them too. But he shook his head. “No… the kid’s well off where he is. Kelly… he sends me report cards and tests… even a few pictures of him every now and then…” He smiled. “That kid’s better off with him. Much better off than he’d ever be with me,” the old man stated.

“Well, yeah, Kelly’s great n’ all… but I mean… you’re his father… don’t you love him?” It was a simple question.

But one that only made Matteo look sad and afraid. “Yeah… I love him so much…” The man stood from the booth.

Albert sighed, shrugging as he turned to look at JoJo.

Back to the bus it was.

It was just a normal Saturday night. Jack was making dinner. Race was sitting on the couch.

Everything was fine.

And then there was a knock at the door.

Race made a move to get it, but Jack shook his head. “I got it, kiddo…” he promised before opening up the door. The young man did a small double take when he saw who it was. “Matt?”

The boy on the couch sat up quick.

Sure enough, there was the man. The one who looked so much like him. “Papà?”

Jack didn’t know what to do. He looked towards the boy behind him. But the boy wasn’t looking back at him.

“Um… hey, son…” the man sighed.

Matt didn’t try to walk in. It was taking all of Jack’s willpower not to slam the door in his face. This man… this man was the reason that Racer was so unsure of himself. This man was the reason Race was terrified he’d never be loved. He knew he wasn’t supposed to dislike this man. But somewhere deep down inside of him, he just couldn’t help it.

“Look… I know… I know this is long overdue… I know you’re probably mad at me…”

Race cautiously walked forward.

There was a bad feeling in the pit of Jack’s stomach.

“But I also know that I love you… you’re my son and I love you so much…” the man stated.

Jack felt out of place. It was his own home and yet, he still felt out of place. He knew this is what Race had wanted. For a year it was all the boy had wanted. Jack couldn’t help but dread it.

“Papà…” Race breathed, sounding unsure.

“Figlio… I brought back the trailer. I want to make this work.” Matt looked desperate. He looked nervous.

Jack couldn’t do this. He didn’t want this. But he forced himself to think about Race. It wasn’t about what he wanted, it was about what Race wanted. So he sighed. “Hey, Racer?” he called.

The boy looked up at him, slightly teary eyed. “Uhm… papà… can you just give us a minute?”

The man nodded. “Yeah… I’ll just… I’ll be outside…” Matt stated.

Jack slowly closed the door, taking a deep breath to steady himself. And he turned back to the kid. It took him a moment to find words. “Tony… talk ta me…” he pleaded, seeing how flustered and confused the boy was. “Is this what you wanna do?”

The kid wouldn’t meet his eye. Jack watched a tear slip down his cheek as he desperately tried to decide what the right thing to do was. This is what he’d wanted. He’d said so merely a day ago. He’d been desperate for it.

And now… here was the moment it could all happen. Yet, there was something inside Race that felt sad.

“Um… I-I love my dad, Jack…”

“I know…”

“B-but I love it here too…”

“I know…”

Race shrugged. “Jackie, I don’t know what to do…” he admitted. He finally looked up at the man who’d taken him in. The man who’d believed in him when no one else had.

Jack melted. “Kid… he’s your family—“

“Yeah, well… maybe you’re my family too…”

There was nothing in the world that could compare to the feeling that shot up through Jack’s chest at those words. He took a deep breath and forced a smile on his face. “You know that no matter what you do… you got a place here, kid… a roof and a bed… no matter what…”

Race shifted uncomfortably for a moment, running a hand through his hair. And then he rushed forward, for the first time ever initiating a hug with a man who was so much more than just his teacher.

Jack hugged him back so tightly it hurt.

But neither of them cared.

Race wasn’t sure he wanted to let go.

“Alright, these are the last of the boxes…”

Jack watched from his kitchen as his boy… as Racer walked down from his room, Albert behind him and Matt in front of him. Most of the stuff they were taking, Race hadn’t had before he’d gotten here.

The young man had been helping before a moment ago when it had all started to settle in.

He took a sip of the beer beside him before placing it back down.

“Alright, Tony, I’ll meet ya downstairs, okay? One more parking ticket n’ them cops’ll tell me I’ve stayed my welcome in that old trailer,” he stated, setting the box in his arms down on the couch before walking up to Jack and extending his hand. “Your job’s done, Mr. Kelly… thank you for everything you did for my boy…”

Not wanting to scare Race out of the decision he’d made, Jack shook hands with the man. The man he didn’t trust. But he managed a smile. “It was my pleasure,” he assured as Matt turned to grab the box and walk out the wide open door.

Race paused and let out a breath as he looked over at the man in the kitchen. Jack loved to cook. He’d be missing those meals, eating with the man and talking with him and teasing him. He’d be missing the three meals a day and insistence that anything less was unhealthy. He’d be missing sleeping on a mattress that was softer than anything the boy had ever touched. He’d be missing the way Jack scolded him for being out late and worrying him.

But this was something he had to do.

At least, he thought it was.

Jack was supposed to understand. Jack had never had a family. If Jack had a father, he’d be fighting to make it work too.

This had to work.

Things had to be alright.

So he set down his box on the coffee table as Albert walked out the door with his own box. And the blond teenager made his way over to the young man. “Jack… thank you… for everything…”

A small smile melted on Jack’s face. A real one. “I would do it all again, little buddy… all ya gotta do is ask, n’ you got a bed and a roof and someone ta talk to, okay?” He hated this, if he was being honest with himself. A year and three months and… and all Matt could say was “your jobs done”. Like he’d been babysitting. Like he hadn’t endured so much with this child who was so clearly desperate for affection and guidance. Like he hadn’t loved this kid as if he were his own.

His heart stuttered when that thought crossed his mind.

But he refused to show it.

“I… I’ll see you at school?” Race suggested, not necessarily wanting to go.

Part of him wished Jack would stop him.

Jack knew he couldn’t.

“Everyday, Racer,” he promised. He held out his hand.

Race took it. And he brought it up to his chest for a moment, not wanting to let go.

But someone downstairs began to honk. “Bye, Mr. Kelly…”

Jack’s heart broke.

“Bye Higgins…”

And with that, the boy walked out the door.

And Jack took another sip of his beer, feeling more lost and alone than he’d ever felt before.

Sometimes I forget that I hate this show. First of all... when this happens in the show, Turner is like relieved and happy. I understand that reconnecting with family is important and everything and they definitely should have kept Chet (Shawn’s dad) as a character and had them rebond and everything, but the fact that he just strolls back in and takes Shawn back drives me insane. Turner literally raised him for over a year and then they played it off like “oh yeah, we made good friends, it was basically like having a college roommate” and... that was it? Like... what? And then Turner’s hardly in it and he’s not even like the slightest bit concerned about Shawn until Cult Fiction.

We’re changing things. For sure, it’s gonna be different.
