I've been meaning to write down a list like this for a long time, so this is the perfect opportunity! This will get really long, I hope you don't mind!
The first simblr I followed back in the day when I was merely using my main blog was @budgie2budgie. I remember her doing a historic challenge and I was amazed and still am with her skills in pretty much anything sims-related.
@cinamun's story sucked me right into the world of sims stories and she's got me constantly on the edge of my seat with her twists and revelations in Things Fall Apart. Other story simblrs I absolutely adore are:
@rebouks - read all of of Somnium during work and couldn't stop I was obsessed!
@elderwisp - it's so difficult to write a story consistently well with such a huge cast and make you care about each character, but Wisp does it flawlessly.
@gunthermunch Oh god, the times I cried reading Munch ... it's not healthy!!
@dreamlandiasims I love a good Strangerville story!
@armoricaroyalty has one of the best royal simblr stories and I'm excited for the next part!
@nexility-sims's visuals!! I'm in constant awe!
@theplottdump - best legacy I've ever read.
@thebramblewood a vampire coming of age story?? Do I need to say more??!!
@rainymoodlet with both their joy of life + Kiss me in Komorebi Bachelor challenge!
@aheathen-conceivably a historical challenge that is incredibly immersive and the story is so well-written!
@retrotrait Simon's and Ananis story is incredible!
@windslar I love to follow her tjol-legacy/story, the editing is gorgeous!
@nectar-cellar one of my favourite ts3 bloggers + fellow VladxBella fan! @sojutrait has one of the best ts4 gameplay/story blogs and is just like @softerhaze a huge reason why I've created a simblr. @arcadewonder - magical screenshots, just like @pixelbots!! I love @tau1tvec and @mystery-pixels who both build the most beautiful ts3 houses and interiors. @beetlemp3 makes the most colourful and cutest ts4 houses! @florwal @folkling and @cowboycid creativity is truly unmatched. @alcearosea-sims's builds have been my go-to for ages! @hazelminesims, @orbitsuns @helloavocadooo @simmenycricket @puretopia @its-opheliasgarden @wooldawn @bunnithechubs have some gorgeous gameplay-stories! @mexipoopy & @bobnewbie @softle0 @kimorasimz make the most perfect interiors! @kashisun makes stunning sims (+nose presets!), just like @nigmos. + @theeflowerofcarnage. @stellarfalls has the most gorgeous visual storytelling, @yukikocloud. + @warmsol as well!
And now a huge and special shoutout to the people who welcomed me into the simblr community!!
@whyeverr - I'm so excited to follow her BACC along! @sweetbeagaming is a huge inspiration building-wise! @oatberrytea I remember smiling like an idiot when she chose my sim for your sunflower BC and I love the overall cosiness of her ts4 gameplay! @cowplant-snacks has the cutest gameplay-legacy and I'd live in their game if I could! @acuar-io Fae is not a only super talented when it comes to creating sims (and I am forever grateful for Heather) but her visual storytelling is gorgeous!
this list is definitely not complete btw!! I've recently found and followed some simblrs that will easily turn into my favourite simblrs soon enough, so there might be an updated list soon!
📩 Simblr question of the day: any other simblrs that you love?
answer in whatever way is most comfortable for you and feel free to share this SQOTD around, make sure to use the hashtag SQOTD and tag me in separate posts ~ 💛
This question was contributed by : @/missmoodring ~thank you for the SQOTD contribution~ (This is question 7 out of 10 that they have contributed :))

Choices Fandom Shoutout Day
It is 9th of November here, so I wanted to dedicate one (most likely super long) post to participate in @choicesfandomappreciation event called Choices Fandom Shoutout Day! Instead of submitting an ask to their account, I figured I would just make a post because it’d be easier that way.
I have been in the Choices fandom for awhile now, but most of the time I was only a silent reader and/or silent participant. However, I decided to actively participate in the community since around April 2021, and I am super grateful that I did join this fantastic fandom.
Hence, I wanna give a shoutout to several people from the Open Heart community that have been so kind, so lovely, so supportive to me (and everyone else!) and have made our day so so so much brighter 🤍
[Super duper LONG post below the break]
First and foremost, I’m giving a shoutout to the loveliest and most talented person in the Open Heart community, @jamespotterthefirst! I have read and love your stories for the longest time, and so grateful for all the kindness, love, and creativeness that you have spread in our little corner of the world. You, my friend, are one fantastic person. Thank you for keeping the Open Heart community alive. Thank you for all the amazing work that you have gave us. Thank you for being you.
Moving on, I’m giving a shoutout to @mm2305! Mil, sweetheart, I adore you so much and I am absolutely astonished by your work. You are one of the first friends I made here, and I’m so grateful that the universe was kind enough to make you my friend. I hope you’re doing well out there, my dear 💙
Next, I have @barbean! Aye, your comments, reactions, and support always always always makes my day brighter. You are kind, you are loved, and I’m thankful to have you here as my friend.
Another special shoutout to @maurine07! Girl, I hope you don’t get tired of hearing this, but I am so freaking thankful for all the love and positivity that you have spread in our community here. Every time I see you reblog and/or support other creators, my heart gets giddy because you are the very reason that we keep on creating. Maurine, you wonderful soul, I hope you are doing extremely well out there! I’m sending all my love and hugs to you 🤍
Then, shoutout to the amazing @monsoonblooms12! Manamee... where should I begin? Your talent is immaculate. The stories you tell bring so much joy, so much warmth to others. The edits you make are absolutely stunning, my dear. You are always so kind to others, so kind to me, and I can never ever repay your generosity. Ily, girl, you are truly one of a kind.
Also, shoutout to the remarkable @quixoticdreamer16! Kate, I’m so glad to have you as my friend. I will forever treasure the kindness, positivity, and friendship that you offered to me, to so so many of us!
Next up, I have the wonderful @jerzwriter! In such a short period amount of time, I know one thing for sure: that you are hella talented, my friend. I love the way you tell your stories, your wittiness, your way of taking us to your wonderful fictional world! Moreover, you always take the time to share us your perspective, your kind support, your thoughts that are extremely valuable. Thank you, Elsa, for everything you have done for our little community here.
I’m also sending a shoutout to the talented @genevievemd! Whew, girl, I will always be in awe with you. Your creativity knows no boundaries, and you have inspired so many other with your wonderful creations!
Shoutout to another friend that I have made along the way, @lawyerlies. You talented soul, you brilliant writer. Thank you for being such a supportive, wonderful friend for me since the very beginning 🥰
I also have a huge shoutout for @bex-la-get! Bex, darling, thank you for all the breathtaking stories and edits that you have shared with us. On days that I’m feeling down, I knew I could read your work and see the love and warmth in those, making my heart feel warm too! Don’t ever change, my dear. You are freaking amazing.
Last, but not least (because I have to stop myself before getting this too long asjkasjlajsla), I want to give a shoutout to @liaromancewriter! Mal, your fluffy stories are my go-to whenever I feel sad. They’re so fluffy, so mesmerizing, and I can never ever get enough of them! Thank you for introducing us to your lovely world.
Okay, I have to stop myself before this gets a little bit too long.... but I’m ending it with a group shoutout for several lovely people that I love so much: @potionsprefect, @danijimenezv, @writer-ish, @lucy-268, @lsvdw-blog, @schnitzelbutterfingers, @headoverheelsforramsey, @rosebudde, @trappedinfanfiction, @dorisz, @josiesopenheart, @chaoticchopshopheart, @starryeyedrookie, and some other creators/friends that have made this community a wonderful place.
Again and again, and I’ll never get tired of saying this: THANK YOU to each and every one of you for all the love and kindness that you have so graciously shared with me, shared with this community. You guys put the biggest smile on my face, and I will forever be grateful for it. I hope all of you are doing well out there, friends! Always sending my love to y’all. 🥰

2020 for the1918
Am I the last person to make this list? Maybe. Do I regret that? Yes. Am I making it anyways because my cognitive behavioral therapy is teaching me fix my avoidance issues? Also Yes.
Let’s do this: @The Trees In Front of Cevans’s House and @Bucky’s Arm... you da real MVPs.
But other than them...
Thank You to Everyone that Truly Made My 2020:
@cantabile-l Jo (Daddy Dumpster™ Co-Founder) — I have to list you first. How could I not? Every friendship I’ve made in this fandom comes back to you. We literally bonded over porn lookalikes and started this craziness called the Stucky Porn Lookalikes Archive ( @stucky-lookalikes-archive ) to preserve the porn, and it now has now has 85k hits and 500 bookmarks (!!!?!!). But it’s more than that, even more than starting the Daddy Dumpster™ and bonding over culihos. Bespoke got finished because you got me excited enough to want it, just like half a dozen other fics. You were also the basis for many, many other friendships that I list below. Your nesting head canons were the inspiration for so, so many A/B/O moments in my fics. We’re so on the same length on an intellectual and spiritual level (I feel like you and me and @ixalit are three parts of one whole ❤) and I am in love with you for it. Culihos forever.
@hanitrash Hani (O.G. Dumpster™ Citizen) —I’m so, so damn glad you’re in my life. We share that sick sense of humor and refusal to adopt a filter. You add flavor to our Dumpster™ with your wit, and I feel so warm when you share pics and updates about the family with us. You were the first person I ran to when I “discovered” HTP and you held my hand 😂 And Jesus—your talent. I could go on and on and on about Through The Darkness I Heard Your Voice and Private Showing, but also one of my New Year’s resolutions is to start reading your work as Loralynne Summers. Thank you for making me smile every day of last year since April.
@trekchik Jini (O.G. Dumpster™ Citizen) — I can’t speak to the number of laugh-out-loud, belly-grabbing, cackling moments I have had in a year that could easily have been shit otherwise, all because of you. I feel like you’ve truly become a member of my family; like, I see you posting in the Dumpster™ when I wake up in the morning and I think to myself, “Oh, what’s the fam up to today?”. I know I’ve gone on and on about your talent (absolute queen of dialogue and pacing) before, but I don’t thank you enough for keeping the Porn Archive alive when the rest of us are slacking. Your Stucky Tumblr Drabbles (especially the meet cutes) puts a smile on half the fandom’s face regulary, and I’m excited to re-read the wonderful Anagnorsis & Peripeteia soon. Here’s to another year of weird dildo pictures.
@thegodswife Amanda (Dumpster™ Citizen) — I feel like we were literally destined to become friends. The love I feel for you and your little family is real and immense, and I feel like your victories (in life and in writing) are my victories. You have made a slow but steady convert of me to Shrinkyclinks with fics like peaches and because it's christmas, and I am in awe of your talent for writing charged dynamics with jaw-dropping moments. This fandom is lucky to have such a gem as you. 2021 is going to be the Year of Amanda (*clinks Lindeman’s Framboise glasses 🥂*)
@ixalit Max (Dumpster™ Citizen) — My relationship with you has and continues to be lifechanging for more reasons than I can even go into on tumblr. You make me laugh. You make me cry (usually in good ways). You make me horny by supplying the #porn-and-fun as the dutiful resident horny teenage boy of Dumpster™. I remember so clearly when we first messaged talking about your Evanstan thoughts and fics, and I knew your writing was special then (omg, Hiraeth?? How dare). You deserve all the success you earned in 2020 and every bit more success that you will continue to have this year. There is no one else I would rather have with me as we make this ~journey through Song of the Rolling Earth together.
@becassine Bex (Dumpster™ Citizen) — What can I say about my lucky charm? 🍀 I found our friendship later in the year and I feel it was truly central to the way I finished out my year with a bang (lol). Your encouragement to finish Bespoke supercharged me, and I’m still riding that high in writing SoRE. But for every bit we talk about you being the Queen of Hype (Becassine, First of Her Name), I am also stunned by your own gorgeous writing. The Way I Feel For You is a gift to this fandom and it’s gonna keep rocking our world, along with any other creative endeavor you choose to embark on. Thank you for the treasure of your continued friendship.
@darter-blue Bec (Dumpster™ Citizen) — My gorgeous, gorgeous cunt of a friend. What ever am I going to do with you? I feel like you and I have clicked so perfectly and so instantly, and I feel such a strong connection to you. I have been enamored with your skill and your style since I first stumbled across your Sergeant Barnes and Colonel Rogers: A Love Story series and then rapidly gobbled up your other writing. Getting to collab with you on No Vacancies was a dream come true. You make me feel so connected to the outside world and humanity even in this bizarre time and even though you’re on the other side of the world.
@kalee60 Kel (Dumpster™ Citizen) — You flawless sass-master. You brilliant human. You tricky little bastard. What a perfect addition to the Dumpster™ you have been! And your talent, Jesus... just being around you makes me want to write. I have truly never seen someone with as much talent write so prolifically, and I am in very real awe of it. If I had to pick “Fic of the Year” for me, I would not hesitate to pick Push The Button—it turned my world upside down—but for as much as we talk about that epic, your AU Extravaganza is really miracle to behold. And I am so, so pumped for you during this exciting time coming up in your life. Here’s to magnificent year for you in 2021!
@andysmountains Andy Gator Lord 🐊 — You’ve changed my life. I’m sitting here and I honestly don’t know how else to put it. You’re hilarious and you’re a ball of sunshine and you have kept this breeder feeling rooted to reality (in a great way) and remembering how to smile during some of the shittiest times I can remember. Newts. You’ve helped me explore my identity, and I’m not sure what greater gift you could have given me. Also, I’ve never heard true love whispered more sincerely than when I see 🔪—and I would give you nine hundred and ninety-seven 🔪 now if not for the fact that you have literally beat me to it.
@ceratonia-siliqua Cera — We’ve shared so much. I feel so privileged that you’ve picked me to be a person that you want to talk to during hard times because you’re such a special guy, and because you’ve got talent that the world needs to see forever and ever and ever (I continue to blown away by what you did in Sunshine, and none of us are ready for Quilt Fic™) and I hope you never stop writing your whole damn heart out. I truly love you. I do. Thank you for reminding me that there is endless humanity and prose in this world.
@howdoyousleep3 K — I feel like 2021 couldn’t be starting off better now that you’re in my life again. Last year was largely defined for me by the time I spent with you, and I’ve truly been changed by you and your writing. You are an endless amount of inspiration for me and this whole community; I would bet real money that the number of Daddy Kink converts that owe their new *interest* to finding your Daddy Steve Rogers/Baby Bucky Barnes series numbers in the hundreds (not to mention your other AUs). But fics aside, I had so many smiles and laughter throughout 2020 because of you, and I owe such a big part of my happy heart to you and your presence in my life. You have a huge, caring heart. Cheers to Cevans continuing to be a giant, bro-ish man slut and us never stopping giving him shit for it — and here’s to Trucker Bucky and his bug.
@lullabybeauty Bee — I’m not sure I would still be writing if it weren’t for you. The interest you took in my fics and endless support you’ve provided have turned me into a real-life 🥺🥺🥺 face so many times I can’t count them. But more than the hype you provide, you are an amazing person, and I hope you never stop putting (and ceaselessly keeping) the word out in our community through your blog that Black Lives Matter and black women matter now and forever; it’s far too easy for those of us who are white to let that truth fade from our minds when there’s not something terrible happening in the news, and I’m so thankful for your posts filling up my dash with reminders I need to be a good ally and giving me information to share with others. Thank you for the gift of yourself.
@ywecanthavenicethingsanymore Caroline—You sort of swooped out of nowhere for me and boosted my confidence through the roof. Your comments and your hype and your hilarious tags remind me every day that writers are only half of the fanfiction equation; all we do without supportive friends like you is sit in the corner dreaming of stories we don’t have the confidence or feel-good to put to words. Thank you for your constant support and for being so. damn. cool.
@littlesurfergrl Heather—Oh, Heather. Queen of the A+ tags. Sender of inbox updates about what time you get off of work and why you’re vibrating to read a fic. All-around beautiful person. Your love and support is magic in my veins.
@hoeforthegays Baby J—I am so damn excited for this creative project you’ve taken on; you are so talented. I look forward to our thirst talks all the time. You make me laugh with your screaming and even your advice. Such a source of sunshine in my life.
@capbvckyrogers / @tae-withsuga Cam — You were the first person who ever reblogged a farmer daddy post. You were the first person who ever sent me a prompt. Honestly, you were the first person who ever bonded with me over a character. There zero (0) chance I would have enjoyed fandom (or certainly any kind of creative success) the way that I did in 2020 if not for you. Thank you, endlessly.
@justice-for-plums Kenz — Another “late in the year” friendship find that I am so grateful for. I love our talks! I am so thankful you felt comfortable to reach out and talk about writing. Our workshopping has helped remind me of what works and what doesn’t for me, and I love the creative collaboration on head canons! Excited for more in 2021.
Shrunkyclunks Bitches®, or those not mentioned already above: @dreadlockholiday (co-founder of the Bitches® with @justice-for-plums and #1 reason I blushed last year), @oh-i-swear-writes @wayward-lives @allegedlyann and others I either am missing on tumblr or forgetting (but not because I don’t love you) — Here’s to Cap Steve and modern Bucky and 1,000,000+ words written during our writing sprints in 2021. [Bitches® server membership is open by the way! If you love Shrunkyclunks, contact Dready @dreadlockholiday].
And to the endless list of others who made me smile, laugh, sometimes cry, feel proud, but always feel that incredible Stucky love — a list that includes but is certainly not limited to @fishcustardandclintbarton, @hawkeyeandthewintersoldier, @willbakewithstucky, @hannah-stagram, @thewaythatwerust, @bigbraiiin, @musette22, @luninosity, @fandomfluffandfuck, @maddiewritesstucky, @hbalbat, @doctorenterprise, @epicstuckyficrecs, @k347 and the massive important people I know I am forgetting (...like some BIG ones)
To everyone above and anyone else who has scrolled this far:
Thank you.
Let’s all have a fantastic 2021 🥂

I have just joined Tumblr specifically so that I can follow all incredible AO3 writers whose fanfic content I've been consuming the past couple of months. Dude, you've been at the top of my list. Your Afterglow Universe series has absolutely stunned me. Never have I ever read anything, fanfiction/poetry/prose or otherwise, that has brought me as much enjoyment and satisfaction as your work, both plot- and writing style-wise. Your writing/diction/structure is so flawless, I am constantly admiring how something so complex reads so beautifully (I am also constantly improving my vocabulary, so thanks!). And your dedication to the characters (written so well it might as well be canon, as others have noted multiple times and rightfully so!) and to the plot brings such joy and gratification to me. Specifically, the Afterglow has taken me someplace fanfic has never taken me before. The meticulous plot building and character development, so well thought-out and purposeful and powerful, make this piece something I will remember and come back to for years. The sheer satisfaction of getting a glimpse of those 13 years, so beautiful and heart wrenching, was so overwhelming and thought consuming! Not to mention, I have genuinely learned something new about communication and relationships via your exploration of Dani+Jamie's growth over the years. I have postponed reading the Afterglow until well after I've recovered from the series (aka finished crying my fucking face off). Once I finally got to it, I had the analysis of multiple other fanfics already processed and reapplied to my original understanding of the series, elevating it to a higher, more complex meaning. Yet, you still blew my tits off!! Your work has made me think and analyze and learn and grow and also just simply enjoy myself as I read something beautiful. Absolutely stunning work, thank you so much for your time and your talent!
Wow!!! Thank you so much for this. Truly, every time I hear something even remotely like this message it’s new and wonderful and inspires awe in me all over again, that I could contribute something impactful and meaningful for people, or just someone, anyone. It’s crazy. i’m proud and humbled and happy

Forever N’Ever
Summary : The hard and brutal realization that a relationship is coming to an end, no matter how much they love each other
Category : Angst
Content Warnings : None really
Word Count : 2 K
___________
Inspired by this song but I also would recommend to listen to this one
They say it’s all about the timing. That no matter how dearly you care about someone, sometimes the stars just refuse to align. Maybe that’s what it was. The Universe telling them that it wasn’t their time. That they weren’t meant to be. Maybe if they had met later – or sooner – whatever this was would not feel so doomed. Maybe in another lifetime they would have had a chance. But right now, it just felt like they were dancing around each other, chasing a feeling of bliss that would only be partially satisfied.
With those feeling weighting on her, Talia woke up and turned her head to the girl sleeping next to her, black curls falling on her cinnamon face. She looked peaceful in that state, a thousand miles away from day-to-day problems. A small but sad smile played on the auburn hair woman’s lips as she stood up slowly, trying not to awake her lover and put on a big shirt to fight the cold November air. She silently made her way to the living room, walking towards the small open kitchen to brew some coffee. She embraced the calm atmosphere of the lazy Saturday morning. There, she could almost forget about everything else, pushing away the heaviness of her heart. She reached out to the cupboard and took a black mug, pouring a full cup of the dark liquid, to which she added a splash of coconut milk. She sat on the counter, holding the drink in her hands for warmth, letting it settle in her chest, soothing her into a serenity state.
Her thoughts wonder to the night they met; it was simple but Talia knew in the moment she would remember it forever. It was hard to believe she didn’t even want to go in the first place. But this is how life goes isn’t it? You’ll never truly know how significant an event is going to be until it passed.
She was tired from the day she had at work, everything suddenly deciding to go against her. Barely after getting in the office, she fell and spilled her coffee on herself, then her computer refused to open any of her graphics software and of course that was the day the big boss just so happened to be around. So, when she arrived at her place and dropped down on her couch, emotionally exhausted, she really didn’t feel like going to that party. And she tried to tell Cameron, but they were not having it. And if there was anything no one could take away from them, it was their persuasive talent. So obviously – and after barely ten minutes on the phone with the red head – Talia got up and changed into a mint green jumpsuit before heading out into the busy streets of New York City. When she arrived at the building, she took the time to lit up a cigarette, in an attempt to recharge her social batteries and prepare herself for the surely crowded apartment. After throwing her smoke, she finally went in. Cameron was being their ecstatic self, as usual and eventually Talia loosened up, not without the help of a few drinks. That’s when she caught her eye. Alyssa was standing on the small balcony, laughing at something a non-important-enough-to-recall person said. She was stunning in her black jeans and baby pink crop top. The dark skin woman looked through the window to her and wave with a little smile in her direction.
“Someone’s gotta crush” said Cameron in a seductive voice.
“You’re annoying Cam, you know that, right?” Talia responded playfully, turning around to face her friend.
“Ow, I love you too sweetie pie. Now, this gorgeous woman over there is Alyssa, she’s from the communication department at my work. Honestly, I know you two would be perfect together”
“Please don’t tell me you dragged me out of my apartment just because you think I need to get laid.”
“Well, am I wrong?” They laughed before Talia punched him in the arm. “Ouch! No, but seriously, go talk to her”
And with that they pushed her further and disappeared. Taking a deep breath, she took the last steps that separated her from Alyssa.
And of course, Cameron was right, they knew her better than anyone after all. Things went smoothly between the two women and they clicked instantly, alternating between dumb jokes and cultural niché facts. They fell in love so easily and so quickly; it was almost scary how well they fitted together. The first months were blissful, romantic and passionate. They spent most of their free time together, hanging out around the city or at Talia’s apartment – being the most obvious option, since Alyssa had three, loud and very nosy roommates. But nothing this great could last forever, and Alyssa became a little more distant a few weeks after their first “I love you”. But it didn’t really make sense to Talia, since her lover was the one who said it first. Reflecting on it now, she realized it was probably because of a stupid comment Cameron said about them being soulmates. And she had been warned about Aly’s fear of commitment, even tho she chose to brush it off. They fell out of sync, arguing about Talia’s clinginess and Alyssa’s distant behavior. The two women were trying their best to make it work nonetheless, but it felt like they were both losing a part of themselves in the process. They were left to wonder if it was really the relationship they were struggling to salvage or the fantasy of it they both created since the night they met.
Maybe that’s all it had become. Preserving a fairy tale that was only ever just make-believe. But that didn’t sit right with Talia. Not with everything she felt every single time her eyes landed on Alyssa. So no, it could not be like that. Well, not to Talia at least. Maybe they weren’t ready yet for a love quite like this one. Maybe it was just because Alyssa was still too attached to a form of freedom she felt like Talia would take away from her, even without actively doing so. Or maybe it was Talia’s lack of confidence showing, making her reach out to her partner all the time, asking for constant validation. Maybe, even with everything they had in common, they were too different in their core for it to work. Maybe they needed to grow a little bit on their own before giving it a try. But Talia was not fooling herself. She knew that if they did say goodbye, it had to be forever. That if they did break up, they couldn’t count on a possible future, waiting for each other, because that wouldn’t do them any good. And if she was being honest, she even knew that she could wait but that Alyssa wouldn’t. And that idea alone had the force to tear her apart.
Eventually, she finished her coffee and hopped down the counter before putting the mug in the sink and making her way to the small couch in the living room. She curled up against one of the armrests, trying to bring herself some comfort as she came to the awful awareness of her denials. She knew, deep down, that she should just rip the bandage, be done with it once and for all. She knew that she needed to respect herself enough to do so, no matter how painful it would be for the both of them. But between what you know when you rationalize everything and what you acknowledge in your heart, there could be an entire galaxy. Her fingers played with her lips, pulling unconsciously on the skin. She felt the irony taste of blood on the tip of her tong as she poked a little too hard on her cupid arc. She winced a bit and forced her hands on her lap, registering just how anxious she was. She heard in the background the small squeaking of the bedroom door, followed by Alyssa’s soft footstep making their way to the bathroom. Talia ran a hand through her wavy hair, in an attempt to recompose herself. Her girlfriend finally walked into the living room, in all her casual glory. She smiled softly and joined Talia on the couch, wrapping loosely an arm around her shoulder. The light skin woman leaned into her embraced, closing her eyes to take in the peace of the moment as she rested her head on Aly’s shoulder.
The sun was high in the sky that day, warming their skins as the laid on the grass of Central Park. They had found a small corner near the lake where there weren’t too much people, for a change. The couple was alone for now, but some friends were supposed to meet them up here. The previous day had marked the official three years together and they went all in to celebrate it. Alyssa had taken her to see a show on Broadway that Talia had been talking non-stop for ages, but never got around to actually buy some tickets. They went on after the show to a small restaurant nearby were they had one of their first dates. It was light and breezy and everything they needed to forget about their past troubles. They decided to run of that blessed feeling by taking that day out.
Talia had her head on Alyssa’s lap, humming in content when her lover started to pass a hand in her hair. Their free hands found each other, interlocking before Aly brought them to her lips. Talia opened her eyes to look at the scene and smiled.
“You’re touchy today” she pointed, a spark in her eye. Alyssa shrugged, smiling down to her, a glimpse of a blush warming her cheeks. “It’s nice, I like it” Talia added, squeezing gently her hand.
They stayed like that all afternoon, barely moving when their friend arrived. And it was still going really well, until of course it wasn’t. Until someone made one small comment about how it’s been three years and they should move in together already. Alyssa instantly froze and tear herself away from Talia, hardly looking or speaking to her until they went back to the apartment. And that peaceful week-end ended like everything ended those days, with yells and tears. The two women stood their ground, like they always did in their stubbornness. And they kept arguing until all strength was gone and they almost passed out on the bed, one last time.
Talia was looking straight toward her, lost in the space when she finally found the courage to speak. The events of the previous day were playing in her head. The end of that week-end made her felt sick in her stomach, the memory forever ruined by those lasts few hours.
“This is it huh?” she said in a soft voice
“Yeah, I guess it is.”
A tear fell down her cheek as she felt Alyssa bringing her tighter in her embrace, not quite ready to let go just yet. After a moment that seem to last both an eternity and a nano-second, they pulled away. Every movement was heavy and they both did their best to move around the apartment without showing how affected they truly were. Keep the façade one last time, a few more minutes before finally being able to crumble. Alyssa gathered her things and made her way to the front door, each step louder than the one before. She looked at the door a few seconds before finding the courage to turn to Talia, who barely manage to keep the tears from falling. They looked at each other, with the kind of gaze that said a thousand words in a split second. I love you. I’ll never forget you. I’m sorry. I sincerely wish you the best.
And that was it. This was goodbye. The only way it could be. Forever.

The Softest Fire (Part 9)
Prompt: Rosaline Vaughan had it all: fame, money, power, glory, a high status job. Until, one day, she woke up, and realized something was missing from her life.
Word Count: 1612
Warnings: dealing with animals(??), manipulation, angst
Notes: First Fantastic Beast fic! I could NOT have done this at all without @arrow-guy. They have created a counterpart to this fic, writing it from Nora Vaughan’s perspective (Rosaline’s cousin/adopted sister). Fic aesthetic done by @mrs-dragneel-stark-solo.
I awoke in a dark room, not by lack of light, but by the deep blacks and greens all over the sitting area. I was laid in a chaise lounge, with Gellert across from me in a chair. He was leaned back, watching me, observing me. Other than feeling groggy, I felt perfectly fine, relaxed even.
“She’s awake,” Queenie’s voice suddenly sounded in the room.
“Tell me about her,” he demanded in a smooth voice, positioning himself closer to me.
“She possesses great power… and she knows this…”
“How great?” he asked.
“Seems like she’s got something close to one Albus Dumbledore… You know him?”
He seemed to stiffen at the name. “Yes, I do. Go on, what else?”
“She’s got a broken heart,” Queenie explained, sounding a little perplexed.
At this, Gellert raised his eyebrows. “Oh, she does, does she? Who? Why? What happened?”
As Queenie dug, she gasped after a moment. I suppose I should’ve felt exposed, vulnerable, violated… But laying there, I felt as if I’d woken up from the most refreshing slumber I’d ever had.
“Newt Scamander… He loves my sister… Rosaline told him and he didn’t say anything in return. So she’s heartbroken that he loves someone else.”
“Ah, unrequited love… It truly does hurt, doesn’t it?” he asked as he got up and took a place by my feet on the lounge.
“She feels like a last resort…. Like she’s never good enough,” Queenie added. The truth of her words made my heart sting, even through the euphoria.
Gellert looked to Queenie, then nodded, as if to dismiss her.
“Darling, I would very much like it if you joined me.”
I smiled up at him. “Absolutely. Anything you need,” I uttered without hesitation or defiance.
“That is exactly what I like to hear. Now, we need you to use some of that Ministry and politician charm. Do you think you can do that for me, sweetheart?” he asked before picking up my hand and kissing it.
“I’ll do anything you ask.”
Gellert looked to Queenie. “So obedient she is. I love it.”
Queenie nodded once, seeming to agree with Gellert.
“Come, my dove, we must dress you more appropriately, to reflect that you’re sharing my views now.”
“Whatever you think is best.”
“That’s my girl,” he boasted happily before leaning down to steal a kiss.
--------------------
“How is this?” Vinda asked, Gellert’s seeming right hand woman. She had brought me into one of the bedrooms, letting me try on an outfit of hers. She was full figured, not a twig by any means, and gorgeous. She had this stunning, soft beauty about her that even I envied.
“I think I like it,” I stated, looking at my reflection in the mirror. She let me have a long black skirt with a thick black shiny belt, topping it off with a coat that served as both my shirt and jacket. The jacket was velvet, black, empowering. I rather liked the sleek, long lines it gave my form. I was always fond of long styled garments, wearing calf length coats. This was floor length, not my usual style, yet it was absolutely flattering.
“Good. I believe I am to take you shopping tomorrow,” she informed with a sweet smile.
“Thank you,” I softly said.
“My pleasure. Grindelwald would like to speak to you now,” she explained and I nodded.
She led me through the home and we ended up in a small sitting room near the kitchen. As soon as she got me situated across from him, she left, closing the door behind her. We were alone, for the first time since I’d met him.
“Rosaline,” he began, staring at me with eyes in awe.
“Gellert,” I greeted.
“I would like to share with you my vision,” he continued, rubbing his hands slightly as they sat on the table, his gaze dropping down.
“Please,” I urged gently.
“It is my belief that many of the wizarding community think I hate the non-magical.”
“You don’t?” I wondered, recalling such thoughts myself.
He shook his head, making a face of slight disappointment. “No, no. No I simply want the Statute of Wizarding Secrecy abolished. That’s all. I don’t want to hurt the non-magical. I only want us to be free. For us to love freely, show our magic freely… Is that so wrong?”
I bobbed my head side to side. “No, I don’t think so.”
A side smile crept up on his face. “That’s good. I’m glad. Would you help me in this endeavor?”
“What would you need me to do?” I wondered, curious.
“Do you still have your connections at the Ministry?”
“Absolutely.”
“I may need you to get inside the heads of a few important people there. Help to spread our message, get the word out. Make people understand that they have my ideas all wrong. Do you think you could do that?”
A quick grin spread on my face. “Yes!”
“Delightful. I will give you the names of the people I would like you to sway. Meet with them how you please, but do it quickly. Time is of the essence.”
I nodded. “Yes. I understand. But… if these people you seek refuse to listen, shall I kill them?”
He seemed to choke on air before shaking his head. “No, no. There is no point for violence, sweetheart. No. If they do not listen, perhaps an Imperius curse?”
“Easy enough.”
“Glad you think so.”
“Anything else?”
“Would you care to join me for dinner? I’d very much like to discuss something else with you.”
“I’d be honored.”
He stood, kissing the top of my head. “It’s a date then. I will see you tonight, seven o’clock, here. Vinda will give you the names, make quick work, Rosaline. I’m counting on you.”
“I won’t let you down, Gellert.”
He smiled at me, his hand on the door as it opened. “I know you won’t. That’s why I chose you.”
--------------------------
We were now at Nurmengard Castle, with myself and Gellert in the library. I believe he was studying spells while I was going over potions. He sat across the table from me in the expansive room, kept warm by a roaring fire, staring at me.
“Something on your mind, Gellert?” I questioned with a coy smile, not raising my eyes from the book.
He shifted in his seat, leaning forward. “I must confess, I find myself puzzled by you. Your past. How you came to be who you are.”
I lowered my book and looked up at him. “What would you like to know?”
“Everything, I suppose. What makes you… you. You’re peculiar.”
“How so?”
“I can’t put my finger on it, but I do know I’d like to know more about you.”
I nodded. “Very well. I was orphaned at age four, taken in by my aunt and uncle, raised with my cousin Nora. She and I became close. I went to Hogwarts, became Head Girl, graduated top of my class, and went into the Ministry.” I laughed lightly. “I’m not exactly fascinating. Why do you want to know all this?”
“Because you’re very different from anyone I’ve met and I’d like to know why you are the way you are.” He frowned at me for a moment. “Why aren’t you married? Someone as stunning, bright, and successful as you surely had many suitors. “
Again, a gentle chuckle came out me. “Well to be quite frank, in school, I only wanted to focus on school. I just wanted to be the best witch I could be. Then I graduated and my job became my priority, thankfully, because it gained me a spot to be the next Minister.”
“And you didn’t go through with that? You had started your campaign, but you stopped -- why?”
I shrugged slightly. “I just… I wasn’t making a difference in the world, not really. I was capturing people who had done something wrong, but I didn’t really know their story. I didn’t get a chance to be a judge, just a person to help take the person to their sentencing. I just wanted to feel passionate and feel involved.”
“Is that when you sought out the Scamander boy?”
I shook my head. “No, actually, I was looking for any sort of fulfilling work, Newt just happened to be looking for an assistant.”
An eyebrow perched up. “I don’t see you being an assistant to someone like him. You’re far above him. Did you like the work?”
“I did,” I nodded. “Working with those creatures was so inspiring. I think in a way, they humbled me, a little.”
“A woman like you, of your talent should never be humbled, or anyone’s assistant.”
I blushed, looking down for a moment. “Thank you, Gellert. That’s kind of you.”
“Do you miss your cousin, your family?”
I frowned, thinking for a moment. That was an odd question to me, for some reason. “I...I don’t think so. No. I have you.” I looked up at him with renewed sparkle in my eyes.
He smiled fondly. “That’s good to hear. And Newt? I know you had feelings for him. Do you miss him?”
I shook my head, squaring my shoulders as my chin jutted towards the ceiling. “No. He’s in love with a witch from America and clearly I wasn’t good enough for him, so he’s not good enough for me.”
“Wise woman,” he commended with a coy side grin. “I really do admire that about you.”
“Thank you. Did I answer your questions?” I asked, hopeful that I satisfied all his curiosities.
“Yes, you did. Go back to your reading, my love.”
I smiled and did as he told.

omg i loved it. everything you write is wonderful and Alex has my heart and I love it if you write more about what happened before their meeting.
I put these two together (I hope that’s alright)💖 the first anon is referring to this drabble I posted a few weeks ago. It was an idea I had for a while and I really like it, so I'm glad you wanted more of it!💕 it kinda has the friends with benefits thing so I thought I could make something with these two (second anon: if you want me to write your request completely apart from this, I will, just ask)
It has a bit of angst, mentions of smut (not very detailed) and really bad writing bc my brain is still recovering from the exams lol
Hope you like it!💕
You could feel his eyes on you. Even at the other side of the club, where he danced and laughed with his friends, he didn't take his eyes off you.
You smirked every time you saw him staring. It was him who decided you two were just friends... With benefits? But in secret. Everyone could sense the tension between you two, but he was scared that if the both of you started dating, your friendship would be ruined, and it would affect the whole group of friends you had in common.
And, he confessed, he didn't want anything serious just yet.
It was fine, you were fine with that. Fooling around with him, having casual sex... All in secret, which only made it even more exciting.
Though he would have to stop looking at you like that before everyone realized what was going on.
"I'm going to the toilet" you left your drink on the table, next to your friends. They nodded at you and you caught your best friend's smirk as she looked at you with an eyebrow raised. You winked at her and left. You never told her about this friends with benefits thing, she just knew you and Alex too well.
You walked next to him, walking just in the middle of his group of friends, standing on a circle, on purpose. Just to tease. He looked at you and took another sip of his beer, clearing his throat.
Not even two minutes had passed, as you fixed your make up on the mirror, when he entered the bathroom with a big smile.
"Hello"
Drunk Alex was your favorite Alex.
"Hi" you smirked, turning around to face him "This is the ladies' toilet, Alex"
"It's a fucking toilet, it doesn't have a gender, Y/N" he scoffed, annoyed, as he approached you and sneaked his arms around your waist, leaning in to kiss your lips. You giggled into the kiss and your hands caressed his neck.
"Anyway, you should get out before someone else sees you here"
"To be honest, I don't care" he moaned against your neck. You smirked, and let yourself close your eyes and enjoy the feeling of his lips against your neck.
"Lock the door" you insisted, he sighed and nodded, getting away from you to lock the door, immediately coming back to you. It was like his hands were glued to your body.
You sat on the counter, next to the sink, parting your legs so Alex could stand between them, his hands caressing your thighs.
"You look so beautiful tonight" he muttered, kissing your cheek softly, with his eyes fixed on yours "I mean, you always look stunning, but tonight... This dress" he groaned, crashing his lips against yours. You moaned out loud when you felt his already hard member pressing against your still covered sex.
"Someone's eager" you giggled, caressing it softly over his jeans. Alex moaned and pressed his forehead against yours.
"Who wouldn't be, after seeing you dance that way?" He whispered into your ear, biting your earlobe "I promise I want to make you scream my name, take my time with you and hear your moans for hours, Y/N, but now... I can't wait"
"Then..." You grabbed his shirt, pushing his body even closer to yours "Why don't we start the first round now so we can go to your apartment for the second?"
"I like that" he smirked, his fingers already slipping into your underwear "I like that very much"
___________________________________________
The phone ringing woke you up.
You had been sleeping on Alex's arms, with his soft breathing against your neck, his warmth surrounding you.
You groaned when the awful sound startled you, and accidentally kicked his leg, making him groan.
"I'm gonna kill you" you muttered "Turn that off"
Alex chuckled sleepily into your ear, kissing your cheek before turning around to take the phone.
"Hello?" He asked. His voice was hoarse and it made you bit your lip and look at him with narrowed eyes.
Suddenly, he stood up, widening his eyes and running his free hand through his hair repeatedly.
"What? Like... Are you serious?"
He started pacing around the room, wearing only his boxers. You sat on the bed, frowning as your eyes followed him.
"I... Wow" he smiled, rubbing his eyes in disbelief "God, this is... This is amazing!" He laughed in pure joy, his beautiful eyes were full of happiness "Thank you, thank you so much..." He rubbed his face "I... I need... Can I call you back?... Nice, thank you"
He hung up, throwing his phone to the bed and laughing as he looked at you.
"What happened?" You asked with a small smile on your lips. His smile was contagious.
"Remember that casting I did? The one for Vikings" he kneeled on the bed next to you.
"Yes, I remember, what...?"
"I got the role, Y/N" his eyes fixed on yours "I got the fucking role, I'm in, I'm going to play a main character"
You widened your eyes, your lips curving on a big smile.
"I knew you would!" You giggled, hugging him tightly. Alex hugged you back, chuckling softly against your neck "You're amazing, see? I told you"
"I can't believe it" he muttered "This is what I've wanted my whole life, Y/N"
"I know" you moved to look at him on the face, cupping his cheek with a smile "I'm so proud of you, Alex, I truly am"
"Thank you" his smile faltered then, and you frowned "I just... I have to leave Denmark"
You sighed. You did think about that, more than once. Being one of Alex's closest friends, you helped him to prepare the auditions, you watched the show with him -well, in part because you had a huge crush on Travis Fimmel- and you were always there, supporting him. He had the talent, obviously, and you were more than sure that he'd get the part.
But yes, he had to leave Denmark.
"Denmark will still be here when you come back" you tried to smile again "And so will we, your friends, your family... We'll be here waiting for you when you come back, being all famous and professional"
"Yes but... I will... Be alone there" he frowned.
"Alex, trust me, you will not be alone" you chuckled softly "You'll make friends, good friends, with the rest of the cast, you're not the only newbie in there, I'm sure, and we'll go to visit you!"
He then bit his lip, looking away from you.
"This is... This is big..." He took a deep breath "I don't know if I can..."
"You can" you tried to make him look at you again "You have the talent, take this as a master class on acting. They chose you because they saw something in you that they didn't see in the others"
Alex opened his mouth to speak, but didn't say anything.
Come with me.
He wanted to scream at you that he didn't want to be there all alone, that he needed someone, someone like you, who was there supporting him, with comforting words and warm kisses.
But he couldn't ask you to leave everything; your work, your classes, your entire life... Just for him.
And we're only friends.
With benefits, yes, but just friends.
"I..." He almost said it "I... Thank you, Y/N, for everything" he smiled softly "You're... A really good friend"
You tried not to look too disappointed, a sad smile curved your lips as your heart broke a bit more when you realized that's all you were for him; a really good friend.
Yes, you could fuck, make out and sleep together in secret. But no one said anything about love, right? You would never take his hand while walking down the street, or kiss him lovingly, or hear an I love you on your ear just before falling asleep. You'd never have dates and all that romantic shit. He'd find someone and he'd fall in love, and you'd stop seeing each other in secret, and that's all you'd be, a really good friend.
"You don't have to thank me" you muttered, your eyes fixed on the duvet that covered your legs "I'm just doing what friends do, right?"
Alex nodded, with a forced smile on his face.
"I should call them back" he rubbed his neck, standing up.
"Yeah" you cleared your throat "You should".

Usually, you loved airports. You loved traveling with friends and taking planes that would take you far away. But that day the mere sight of the airport made your stomach turn.
It was the most difficult goodbye of your life. Especially because you could only hug him for ten seconds in front of his friends and family. You always knew this moment would happen; him going away to work as an actor. But you had always hoped you could say goodbye with a kiss, a smile and an I love you, I'll miss you.
But you only got to say: 'Good luck' and shot him a wide smile before he went to hug his mother.
I'll call you tonight. He had promised into your ear when you got away from him.
He didn't call you. Not that night, nor ever. He didn't reply to your messages and he cut all communication with you. You thought maybe he was like that with everyone. Maybe he's going through a rough time, maybe he doesn't want to talk to anyone.
But it was you. Only you. He did video calls with everyone else, texted them daily and even invited them to Ireland. And he left you heartbroken, not really understanding what you did wrong.
Only when he came back, the first time, he texted you. Should we meet up?
You didn't answer. What could you possibly answer to that? After months ignoring you, he couldn't really expect you'd be there waiting for him, right?
You had started to see someone else, though, someone you ended up dating for two years. And everything went well, and you thought you had everything under control four years later, when he came back and stayed.
Until that first time you saw him, when everything started falling apart again.

Frozen 2
Title: Frozen 2 Director: Jennifer Lee & Chris Buck Release: November 22nd, 2019
Alright, so if you know me at all, you know I’m not a huge fan of Frozen (let’s be real “Let It Go” ruined it for A LOT of us).
SO, upon seeing this 2nd film of the franchise, and enjoying it, I was BAFFLED.
*I also apologize, in advance, for the amount of photos/stills in this -- seriously cannot get over the animation*
We’ll start negatives and build into the positives, end with a high note, cuz there are FEW issues I had with this film.
One of the first negatives I want to discuss is the storyline. I wasn’t a big fan of the “no villain” aspect of this. the argument for the Grandfather being the villain, is valid, but I also don’t think he’s the major issue here, plus it was a troupe I’ve seen MANY times and wanted something different. It’s that Arendelle is in danger of being destroyed by the forces and spirits of the elements. But after Hans, who was an excellent villain BTW, it felt like it was missing something.
I also have the issue that this storyline seems kind of out of no where. We never REALLY met her parents much in the first -- which is why we could be going deeper here, but it didn’t feel necessary. However, the fact there was NO mention of the Northuldra people (Is this the people of Kristoff’s origin? Why are they not in the first? How can a whole grouping of people be completely forgotten? How can Anna remember a portrait of Mattias but never know why he’s there in a portrait?). I did LOVE the new rendition of the Frozen opening, I thought that was STUNNING, and I loved meeting the Northuldra people, regardless of my issues with where they were in the first film.
There is also the discussion piece of “This is the same as the first film story wise” -- which is a valid discussion, BUTT I would disagree with this based on the lack of a villain like Hans.
OK, so moving on from “Debbie Downer, just enjoy the movie for what it is.” THE POSITIVES.
Firstly, I need to SCREAM about how AMAZING this soundtrack was! Between Kristoff’s power 80s, love ballad and “Into the Unknown” -- I CANNOT. It was WONDERFUL. Beautiful. Spectacular. And Panic! at the Disco’s rendition of “Into the Unknown” leaves me with CHILLS. LIKE GUYS -- I have to leave a link.
I also have to RAVE about how spectacular the animation is. From the details in costuming to just how REAL the trees look in the flooding scene -- LIKE:
ANDDDD
ANDDDDD
It’s just stunning and beautiful. The talent, craftsmanship, and beauty that went into these animations were amazing. I caught myself MULTIPLE times with my mouth open in awe of this animation.
I loved the fun and beautifully designed Spirits of the Enchanted forest as well! They’re quirky and understandable mad.
We also need to talk about the vulnerability that is shown by MULTIPLE characters in this film. They are breaking barriers, stereotypes, etc., all over the place. This is where I’m gonna dive deep -- so be prepared.
We’ve got Anna, who sings a whole ballad ("The Next Right Thing") about being in pain and feeling sadness and sorrow and still going forward. She also continues to be strong in her sorrow, and do what is right at the cost of losing everything. I think that message was powerful in the aspect that she show that fragility is important, but you shouldn’t let it engulf everything that you are capable of doing. You can move forward from it.
Then we’ve got Elsa. She should be extremely happy in the life she has and being freaking QUEEN. But she isn’t. She craves for something else, and knows this. In leaving her royal crown, she is showing that dreams do not have to be those that were put in front of you. They can be something different than what you’d imagined, pictured, planned out.
We also have to talk about her hair -- thats a MAJOR symbolism that has happened in film, animation, etc., for a long time (mostly from what I’ve seen in Studio Ghibli films, so I see you nodding at that Disney). We go from a tight updo braid, to a longer braid in Frozen. We are sticking with the longer braid in Frozen 2, showing her restraint. However, we then move to a ponytail -- still restrain, but more free as she moves forward in her journey. By the end we have FREE FLOWING LOCKS people! That’s extremely important because it shows her entire freedom. She is in her element and able to be who she TRULY believes.
Plus the PANTS!! *claps* We have pants people for both Anna and Elsa! -- I just really love their pant outfits
Now Olaf, who has grown to understand feelings and anger, and also to be selfless. I mean Olaf chooses to encourage Anna to go forward and almost comforts her in his moment of complete despair. I thought that was beautiful character growth for a comical relief character.
Now the big one -- Kristoff. We are TACKLING toxic masculinity in this man and I LOVE it. I mean the man sings a full 80s rock style love ballad, “Lost in the Woods” (as mentioned earlier), with reindeer back up singers! Like come on! And we CANNOT pass up the fact he tells Anna “what do you need” and let’s her be her own hero. That itself was powerful to show they are a TEAM and he is not her “hero” in the typical “knight in shining armor type.” I also almost SCREAMED when he said “My love is not fragile.” I am obsessed with it and the fact he directly communicates it with her. It’s a beautiful moment of trust, love, and understanding on his part.
***But I still have questions about Kristoff. Is he Northuldra? I thought he was an ice person’s son? But then why was he raised by the trolls? I need answers, Disney!
I honestly do have a lot of questions (was their mom the 5th element before them? I have soooo many Kristoff questions. I need to see a royal wedding. What happened with Ryder?), but at entertainment and that “leave the theatre feelings” I truly enjoyed this film. It was a beautiful show of emotions from all the characters, while also having a BANGER of an album and STUNNING animation.
So if you’re on the fence to see it -- I’d definitely say go for it. <3

My Ranking of all the MCU films so far
Hey guys! So now that I have finally caught up and watched every single film from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (to date) I will now rank them from worst to best!
Just an FYI: Some of you will probably not agree with some of my choices, and that is perfectly fine. This is just my personal opinion.
Here we go!
#19: The Incredible Hulk (2008)
The Hulk has always been one of my favourite superheroes, and as far as I am concerned this movie completely ruined him. The CGI looked like a video game, the narrative was terrible. No redeeming qualities whatsoever. Just not a good movie at all in my opinion.
#18: Iron Man 2 (2010)
I actually saw this one in the theater, and I kinda wish I hadn’t. However, unlike the previous entry I wouldn’t say it’s a completely awful film. There are a couple decent/funny moments. But for the most part, it’s not great and I don’t think I’d watch it again.
#17: Thor: The Dark World (2013)
I seriously cannot believe I wasted my money TWICE to see this in the theater. I was pretty disappointed by this movie. The villain had no clear motivation. The romance was so awkward and the majority of the humor just didn’t work. The only redeeming qualities are the performances of Hemsworth and Hiddleston.
#16: Iron Man 3 (2013)
Now, I don’t think this movie is actually that bad, but it’s just not quite as good as some of the other high caliber MCU films. I liked that they addressed Tony’s mental health issues and the film has a pretty good ending. This movie won’t exactly waste your time, but there are other films more worthy of it.
#15: Thor (2011)
While not NEARLY as bad as its sequel, the first Thor film is a bit cheesy, clunky and predictable. That being said, it’s a visually impressive movie with some pretty fun and hilarious moments. At this point I feel kind of neutral about it. It ain’t no Ragnarok but it’s not as terrible as the second installment.
#14: Iron Man (2008)
For the very first film in the MCU line-up, this one is pretty good. Right away we know exactly what kind of person Tony Stark is, and the first half of the movie is surprisingly suspenseful and emotionally charged. It has a few humorous and bad-ass sequences. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really stand up in comparison to some of the later MCU films. That being said, it’s still a pretty good time.
#13: Ant-Man (2015)
Now the only reason I put this above Iron Man is because of how much it exceeded my expectations. I really didn’t think it was going to be that good, but it was. Not a perfect film by any means, but I was surprised at how entertaining and funny it was. I suppose my only complaint would be that unless you are really into Ant-Man as a character, it’s not that memorable of a film.
#12: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017)
Don’t get me wrong, I did think this film was very enjoyable for the most part, I just don’t think it was as good as the first one. I think what I liked most was the development of the relationship between Gamora and Nebula. I did think most of the humor was good, but there was so much of it that it ended up feeling more like a comedy rather than a super-hero flick.
#11: Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
There is no denying that Chris Evans was cast perfectly as Captain America/Steve Rogers. He is someone you can really root for, which is what makes this movie so successful. However, the film is very cheesy at parts, and some sequences are slowly paced, but overall it’s a very entertaining movie and a great introduction to one of the MCU’s most important characters.
#10: Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)
Personally, I do think this one is better than the sequel. All of the characters are introduced perfectly, and their interactions are written in such a clever way. I also think this movie has the better soundtrack when compared the sequel, and the humor is not as overblown. I guess my only complaint would be that it kind of feels like the film makers were trying to copy the Avengers with the whole “team doesn’t get along at first but then they do” scenario. It definitely works, but it’s not the most original idea. Overall, very well done.
#9: Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Although the Sam Raimi Spider-Man films (excluding the 3rd one) will always be close to my heart, I have to admit that this movie was really good. I really enjoy Tom Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker. He has an innocence about him that makes him so likeable, and you really want him to succeed. I also thought the humor in this movie was perfect, and Michael Keaton was not just another boring Marvel villain. Overall, I would definitely see it again.
#8: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
To be honest, I don’t think this movie is QUITE as good as the Tumblr community thinks it is. However, it is pretty darn good. Some of the action and fight choreography is absolutely stunning. I love how it feels like a spy/espionage film while also displaying themes that the MCU is known for. I love the developing relationship between Steve and Natasha, and how this film exposes their true colours. Really well done.
#7: Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
Again, I don’t think this movie is as incredible as the Tumblr fans say it is, but overall I did enjoy it quite a bit. A lot of the issues I had with the previous Thor films are not in this one.The Director must have realized that the previous Thor films just weren’t working, and decided to give this one a fun, energetic spin that I think was the perfect choice. Of course, I have to talk about my favourite actress, Cate Blanchett, who KILLS IT in this role (no pun intended). With a brilliant aesthetic and motivation that makes sense, she might just be my favourite MCU villain yet. In my opinion, this is the best Thor film so far.
#6: Black Panther (2018)
Alright, now we’re getting to the really good stuff! This movie took the world by storm, and it’s not hard to understand why. With a cast full of talented and diverse actors, Black Panther is unlike any Marvel movie we’ve ever seen before. I can’t tell you how unbelievably refreshing it is to see a film that is not 90% white people, it’s the other way around! Although the story is a tad predictable if you’ve seen The Lion King, the action is superb, the visuals are beautiful, and the script is very well written. Wakanda forever!
#5: Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Without getting too much into spoiler territory, I will say that this film is probably the most ambitious cross-over I have ever seen in all of cinema. The crazy part is that the directors actually managed to tell a clear and concise story despite the fact that they were dealing with something like 30 characters in one film. Emotional, suspenseful, thought-provoking and hilarious, this one hits all the marks that it should in the most surprising ways.
Still not sure what to think about that ending though....
#4: The Avengers (2012)
I don’t know about anyone else, but when I first saw this movie it totally blew my mind! It truly is an epic movie with some of the best writing I’ve ever heard/seen. While I feel that fans obsessed over Loki a little too much, he is a fun villain with a pretty clear motivation. This movie also introduces Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner who I think is by far the best actor to portray the character. I feel like this is the movie that started the trend of MCU films that were actually really good. It’s a really entertaining ride from beginning to end.
#3: The Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
I know exactly what some of you are thinking: “Oh my god she thinks Age of Ultron is better than the first one are you freaking kidding me”. Yes, you are correct. I do think that Age of Ultron is better than the first Avengers, and I seem to be very very alone in that opinion for some reason. Basically I think that this film has everything that made the first Avengers film good with a couple things that make it even better:
1) The character interactions are more complex and interesting
2) The stakes are a lot higher and the heroes suffer more
In a nutshell, that is why I think it’s better than the first one. To be perfectly honest I’m not really sure why Tumblr hates this movie so much. I get that nobody really likes the Bruce/Natasha pairing but is that really a valid reason to hate the entire movie? I guess I’ll never know.
#2: Doctor Strange (2016)
Unless you’ve been counting, I doubt you saw this one coming up so high on my list. It wasn’t until I started thinking about my ranking that I thought: “Wow, I LOVE Doctor Strange!” Not only is Benedict Cumberbatch an incredibly talented actor, I always liked this film because it was a marvel film that didn’t feel like a stereotypical “marvel” film (if that makes sense). Aside from having a visual style I don’t think I’ve ever seen before, I think my favourite part about this movie is the progressive character arc that Stephen Strange goes through. By the end of the film he’s not a completely different person, but his priorities have shifted and he wants to help make the world a safer place. Also I can’t talk about this movie without mentioning the SOUNDTRACK, oh my goodness the soundtrack. Here’s the link, listen and be amazed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jc0KNrpFka8
#1: Captain America: Civil War (2016)
It took me a little while to figure it out, but I definitely feel that this movie is my favourite in the MCU so far. Sort of a scaled-down version of Infinity War, this movie has a lot of characters, but the story is balanced so well that you barely notice. The comedy is really good, and is countered with scenes of irreversible emotion. Everything ties together so wonderfully, and despite the long run time, the movie is extremely well paced. Although it has one of the more darker endings in a marvel movie, it still manages to end on fairly positive note, which I love. I don’t know what else I can say to praise this movie, so I’ll end it right there.
Wow, that took a while! There you have it folks, my personal ranking of all 19 MCU films so far. If you took the time to read all of this, thank you so much for doing so. Hope you guys enjoyed it!

Wow... just wow! That's all my mind could come up with after reading this. How do you always leave me this speechless? How do you always come up with the most perfect fics? How do you manage to make me feel so much through words? How are you so incredible? Just how??
Ethan and Chiara are just so perfect together. The communication between them even without any words is so beautiful. I love how they can calm each other down just by being in each other's presence. Their relationship is just so beautiful and deep and so full of emotions and I can truly never get enough of them.
I am here and that’s all we need for now.
I actually teared up a bit reading this line (I'm dramatic, I know) It's so beautiful and I think it's one of the best ways to describe Chiara and Ethan. The comfort they find in each makes me soft
More silence, less heavy, less serious, but just as comfortable and Chiara tangles her free hand into Ethan’s hair, soft and still damp from the shower, delicate, silky curls forming at the nape of his neck-
(and God, how much does she love those curls, subtle and only there for a while; only seen by a few, soft curls like his soft side, precious and hers to love now)
The softness and intimacy here between them is just so beautiful. I can't even begin to tell you how much I love little moments like these between C & E. Reading about these two feels like... a hug, like drinking hot chocolate on a cold winter night. Does this make any sense? Probably not but... Idk, it just feels warm.
She is –
Everything
Everything he longed for and never allowed himself to believe in
Everything
These lines are everything. This part made me swoon
Chiara Ray was his very personal midnight sun.
When I tell you I had to put my phone down to take a deep breath because I was so overwhelmed (in the best way possible) by this line, I'm not kidding. This whole part is so brilliant and I can't comprehend how you can come up with something this beautiful and stunning. Comparing Chiara with the midnight sun is beyond what words can say and just so... her, so Chiara, so fitting for her and just so perfect.
This fic is pure magic. I can't find the words to describe this. I couldn't pick up my jaw off the floor while reading this and even after. I just sat there, completely lost for words and so in awe of this beautiful piece of art.The parts between brackets add so much to the fic and they make it so much more perfect. The last part made me even more speechless, which I didn't even know was possible.
From:
- the first ray of light creeping through the darkness the North Pole suffers through for those 179 days of polar night.
To the very end is just pure talent. I reread that part so many times just so that I can make sure what I was reading was right. Seriously, I couldn't believe someone can be this talented.
I loved it so so so much, more than I can ever express and I will most definitely come back to reread again tonight and be completely blown away by your talent again. Thank you for blessing us with this beautiful, incredible, brilliant, magnificent and just perfect masterpiece❤❤
Playing woth others hair e and c😊
thank you so much for this and I am sorry I am this late, I bet you forgot you sent this:D
All she wished to be was his (he called her a midnight sun)
This was not supposed to be Chapter 8 rewrite but it actually fits the events, so let’s consider it a canon-divergent version of, uh, the comfort scene in that chapter.
WC: 1.1k
Warnings: hurt/comfort but I think it’s harmless. Soft and very E & C like.
*** *** ***
Chiara has gotten to know Ethan.
She knows that. She doesn’t think so, she knows she knows Ethan.
She knows his silence, too.
And the ride home was silent. Watching Ethan from the corner of her eye, she recognized the mask he was wearing – seemingly stoic, concerned at most. There was a thunder in his eyes, though, blue irises a shade darker and screaming rage. He was angry – with himself, with Leland, with the situation he has found himself in or with life in general, she was not sure.
The dinner was silent, too. Heavy, serious silence only interrupted by the clinking of their cutlery – not uncomfortable, though. He needed the silence and she respected that and in that, they found comfort.
„Will you-„ he gulped after they finished the meal. „Could you stay the night?“
She nodded, of course, and Ethan didn’t say anything else, hugging her quickly (quickly, but oh so tightly. So tenderly) in a response.
Two years ago, Chiara would call him grumpy. Rude, perhaps. But she has gotten to know Ethan.
They couldn’t be more different when it comes to dealing with difficult situations if they tried. Chiara needs to talk it through – talk and analyze, share her worries with someone. When Ethan is not there to listen, she talks to Bryce or she calls her mom. Ethan deals with his problems on his own, within the safety of his own mind and only when he comes to his own conlusion, he considers sharing them with someone.
The bedroom is poured in silence, too. The bedside table’s lamp flooding the room with warm light, shadows lazily dancing on a wall opposite of the bed Chiara is currently occupying. Back comfortably resting against the headboard, book in her hand and she looks so peaceful when Ethan steps into the room, dark grey pajama pants hanging low on his hips, few forgotten water drops hiding in his chest hair. He stops in his tracks and part of him hopes Chiara doesn’t notice him so that he can observe without being interrupted.
Of course she notices.
(Of course she does. She sees him even when he doesn’t want to be seen. She sees him always.)
A smile welcomes him. Smile warm, soft and brilliant (like Chiara herself) and she waves her hand lightly, beckoning him to join her in bed – and one could think that she is wordlessly telling him come here, you can talk to me; that she is convicing him to trust her and talk to her.
But Ethan has gotten to know Chiara, too.
He knows that she is wordlessly telling him come here, lay down, I am here.
I am here and that’s all we need for now.
She doesn’t persuade him to talk, because she respects him. Because if there is something they have both been feeling to each other for years now, it’s respect.
Chiara’s attention is back on the book in her hand by the time Ethan crosses the room and slumps on the bed next to her, but her arm stays stretched out, still beckoning him to come closer, to find his comfort with her.
And he does find it. The moment he puts his head on her stomach, one of his hands curling around her thigh, he feels some of the tension that has been building in his temples dissolve.
More silence, less heavy, less serious, but just as comfortable and Chiara tangles her free hand into Ethan’s hair, soft and still damp from the shower, delicate, silky curls forming at the nape of his neck-
(and God, how much does she love those curls, subtle and only there for a while; only seen by a few, soft curls like his soft side, precious and hers to love now)
-and she strokes them gently, massages his scalp occasionally. He keeps on caressing her thigh with his thumb, his hot breath (a little bit ragged still, she notices) tickling her skin in the most pleasant way possible.
There is still no talking, just more content silence, rustling of Chiara’s book and Ethan’s quick, shallow breaths getting deeper, slower, calmer.
„I don’t know what is going to happen, Chiara,“ he whispers after two chapters,
„None of us ever really does,“ she chuckles softly, closing the book. „That’s the magic of being alive, isn’t it? We never really know what happens next.“
„I don’t believe in magic, to be honest.“
That earns him a wholehearted laugh from Chiara, the first loud sound of all evening.
„Well then, you will have to believe in me and in what I am saying,“ she chrips and even though she cannot see Ethan’s face, she thinks he is smiling, too.
(He is.)
Taking a deep breath - not ragged anymore – Ethan feels the scent of Chiara –body lotion (white tea and citruses), faint remnants of her perfume and then her, her natural scent, sweet and oceanic and so Chiara-like – ground him, calm him down better than any whiskey he would be drinking now, hasn’t she been here.
(The secret smile never seen by anyone – only there when he thinks of Chiara and Chiara only. Hidden from the world, hidden from Chiara herself, only known by the inanimate objects that witness his intimate musing.)
By no means could he call himself an artist. A poet.
No, he is a man, an ordinary, always rational human with minimal care for poetry.
Yet, how could he only adress her as a woman?
(His woman, no less, but still a woman. No, no, she is more than that.)
As his partner or something juevinile as girlfriend? Even the love of his life is an understatement.
She is –
Everything.
All he ever longed for and never allowed himself to believe in.
Everything.
- the first ray of light creeping through the darkness the North Pole suffers through for those 179 days of polar night.
Not the blinding kind of light. Not the one he needs to cover his eyes from, not the one he needsto adjust to.
His life has been a polar night, the dark not dark enough to swallow him (to end him) rather the creeping dusk that makes his chest tighten, makes the lump in the throat bigger and bigger until it can be felt behind his ears and it suffocates him (not enough to end him, no), makes him choke-
-until the first ray of a midnight sun breaks through and there are 186 days of light and nothing but light, warm and welcoming and wondrous.
Chiara Ray was his very personal midnight sun.
And if almost four decades of his life were 179 days, then he could only hope those 186 daysof light (warm and welcoming and wondrous) she could guarantee him would be enough to lastuntil his own last breath.
(And hope he did)

thank you so much for sending this and for reading! <333 love you all
the last part was not originally planned as a part of something bigger, but here I am fitting it here because I like it

Erik’s Picks - January 2020 (Parts 1 and 2)
Our Picks From The January Collection (Part 1)
Humor us with a quick thought experiment.
Where do you think Google looks to hire from when they’re trying to find the next great minds in computer science? Or how about Tesla when they need a new batch of brilliant and youthful mechanical engineers?
If you guessed from universities across the nation, you're correct. Universities cultivate the next generation of great minds, but while there are professional outlets for business and engineering, what happens to the raw creative talent that is developed in art schools?
The honest truth is that this talent largely never sees the light of day as students graduate and have difficulty translating their skills to the market. At ArtStartArt, we strive to bring this creative talent to light and provide our audience the opportunity to access it in an unprecedented manner.
The work in our January Collection is a great representation of this talent, and it goes so deep this month that we need to break this email into two parts. Read on below for our first batch of picks this month, and as always, thank you for the support.
Erik & Alok | ArtStartArt Co-Founders
Andri Kidd is a recent graduate of the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an ASA Select artist. There are only a few artists we've run across as an undergraduate that have such a strong sense of the type of art they want to create, and Andri is one of those artists. Andri claims to "love the playful, the wholesome, and the unapologetic," and when we look at Andri's art and descriptions on the site, we are quickly transported into a whimsical headspace. At $180, this small painting on wood panel is of immense value.
Nathan Sing is a native Texan and an ASA Select artist. As an undergrad, Nathan exhibited with us at East Austin Studio Tour and his work was purchased by a prominent collector here in Austin. Nathan's work leverages iconic landscape scenes and modernizes them in a way that doesn't feel forced. Nathan makes the type of art that is guaranteed to make a statement and start a conversation regardless of where it is placed and at 3 feet by 4 feet, this succulent-themed painting has universal appeal.
Rachel Parnell is a recent graduate from UT Austin and an ASA Select artist. We haven't seen Rachel's work since 2017, when ArtStartArt was just a pilot at 3 local schools and not a national marketplace. Even at that time, Rachel sold almost all the work from her senior portfolio that she listed on the site and we're beyond excited to be able to showcase her work again. In this latest body of work, Rachel continues her tradition of storytelling through layering; the covering, uncovering, scratching, and drawing on top of previous layers in order to arrive at a final composition. All of Rachel's work is large scale, ready to hang, and a couple of her listings this month even include an artist frame in the price.
Katerina Vasquez is an undergraduate artist showcasing work for the first time on the platform. This figure study is deftly created and is a harbinger of success for Katerina if she keeps up this trajectory. If you don't already own a figurative work, we challenge you to take the leap in 2020 (consider it a resolution) and this piece is a great place to start.
Lizeth Terrazas is a recent graduate from UT Austin and an ASA Select artist. You know, sometimes our audience dings us for featuring too much figurative work, but to be honest we can't help ourselves. Artists at this stage make so much good figurative work that we'd be remiss not to showcase it. Lizeth's work fits in that vein and this intaglio titled "Cuerpos Bailando" would look stunning matted and framed. Heck, at $125, if someone doesn't grab this piece we may have to ourselves.
Yiming Sun is an undergraduate artist showcasing work for the first time on the platform. We're addicted to this painting and it’s the one this month we can’t take our minds off of. From the otherworldly color palette, to the rendering of the skin, to the divine tiling in the foreground and background, this is a masterpiece without question. Yiming has the rare talent and vision to follow in the footsteps of the greats artists she references as influences and this is a rare opportunity to own something of this caliber before is it inaccessible for most of us.
Our Picks From The January Collection (Part 2)
You know, everyone collects art for different reasons. Some collect art to support artists or their local community, some collect as an investment, and others collect to beautify their spaces.
When you're in the early stages of collecting (as most folks are), you've got a ton of wall space for new work, but once you get the bug, and have been collecting for several years you start to run out of space. At an art fair recently we meet some serious collectors who described this exact situation to us, and it turns out there's a few terms when you've got a collections that's outgrown your walls: Leaners and Cullers.
Leaners refers to the fact that your walls are so filled that a good portion of your art is leaning against a wall and is not hung.
Cullers refers to the fact that you have so much art that you've been forced to reduce your collection at one point or another.
You may not have any Leaners or Cullers yet, but our January Collection, only available for two more weeks on the site, is chock-full of great art to fill your walls. If you're already a serious collector, well then, what's another Leaner?
Below is part two of our picks this month and I hope you enjoy adding to your collection!
Erik | ArtStartArt Co-Founder
Dario Buchelli is an MFA student at Texas Christian University. Dario recently exhibited a painting with us at East Austin Studio Tour and his current body of work is our favorite yet. Dario's work "involves appropriation of images of other artist’s works as they are found in the internet" and these pieces in particular are inspired by 17th century Dutch landscape painters. I can't speak highly enough of these sublime and uniquely modern paintings and this is another piece this month that I am scheming to add to my personal collection if it's not acquired in the next couple of weeks. This series of paintings by Dario also happen to be some of the most exceptional values on ASA this month. It's hard to articulate how rare it is to have an original painting, of this caliber and uniqueness, by an MFA artist, of this size, available for around $500. If you like this piece, you'll regret not getting it now, trust me.
Josh Barish is an undergrad at Massachusetts College of Art and Design. For a couple months Josh only submitted a single piece to the site each month (even though we urged him to submit more as his talent was immediately obvious to us). However, now that some of his work has sold, he's listed a handful of gems for January, and this painting, Inside Us, takes our breath away. In some ways, this painting looks like it could have been plucked from the wall of a Byzantine monument. It has that timeless symbology and impact, and the glow of the red and gold radiate a powerful mystery. We're in awe of how simple and impactful this stunning composition is, and if you're drawn to it - wait until you see in person.
Alexander Lozano is a Texas-based sculptor and an ASA Select artist. Over the years, we've visited dozens of studio arts facilities in person and the scale and quality of the facilities at the UT Arlington Studio Art Center are some of the best we've ever seen. As a product of the UT Arlington glass program, Alexander had access to exceptional facilities that have allowed him to excel at his craft, and as a result he's created truly exceptional glass pieces. If you've never owned a piece of hand blown glass, then you should know it is entirely different from any other glass vessel you have seen or touched. The weight will surprise you and the feel is buttery. The way the milky glass flows in this form and mirrors the wavy edge and sculpted base are just a couple of details that transcend this form into the finest of art. Also, this piece is wonderfully large. You could put fruit in it as a center piece, or leave it empty and elevated on a shelf. Whatever you do with it, you'll find yourself coveting it - I guarantee it.
Nickolas Holden is a Texas-based photographer and an ASA Select artist. This mystifying and perhaps ominous image was produced by a 4x5 large format camera (an incredibly high fidelity way to produce images that many of the world's greats use today) and is printed at a very large scale. When framed, this piece can hold its own on almost any sized wall. I can tell you as someone who spent 4 years in school studying and practicing photography that Nickolas has the eye and intuition of a true photographer. He's drawn to scenes and people that seem to hold the beauty and enigma of the natural world, and then he's able to capture them with his camera in a way that lets us sense them too. His work is of the kind that I urge people to own, because when framed and hung, these photographs create the transformative experience in a person that opens a new way of seeing in the world.
Miranda Terry is a recent graduate from Texas State University and an ASA Select artist. We've watched Miranda's work evolve over her last 2 years of college and now post-graduation and it's been entirely fulling to watch her development as an artist (just take a look at all her previous sold work on her profile). I actually met Miranda in person a couple of years back after one of her early sales (when I did a little of the packaging couriering myself), and I knew then she embodied the type of artist we wanted to support. Motivated, sharp, visionary and uniquely talented, Miranda is a creator I deeply admire. This new body of works on paper are flat out spectacular. The absolute sophistication (and playfulness) in color and composition complimented by the natural deckled edge and slightly irregular paper shape make these pieces crave-able. I feel strongly someone should purchase more than one and display them individually framed as a collection, and by golly at this price there isn't a good reason not to. Also, did I mentioned Miranda and her colleague Onix (also a Select artist) were recently commissioned to paint a mural at Texas State University? They are going places.
Zachary Brock is an undergrad photographer at Trinity University. We've featured Zach on numerous occasions and it's because he keeps producing work that moves us to the core. This modern interpretation of Michelangelo's fresco is wonderfully fresh and a bit surreal. This is one of those photographs that tens of thousands of people over the years may have tried to make and only a couple get it right. Zach did. The subtle bow of the figures arm and the clarity of focus in the folds of the hand. The divine distance between the branch and the finger and the small bud that's perhaps taking life at the end of the limb. The sense that both are stretching towards one another. These are only a few surface observations of what make this photograph magic and to the owner, more will reveal themselves over time. Zach's work is destined for a gallery at some point, and we're honored to be able to feature it at this stage in his career.

Kuro Positivity Day
Okay, I am pretty late coming into this, but I refuse to fully miss another Kuro day because of homework, friends, fanfiction, and the March Break in general. So I am late, take 10% off the marking if your want. But I just wanted to mention my little bit of love for this fandom, because I absolutely adore being apart of it.
Not only has writing for kuro been an amazing thrill simply because of such complex characters, but also being able to adapt it to my own style and twist them to a degree, starting from my canon compliant stories to the ones now where I create and reform to create my own creations. It's wonderful, and while I have been reading fanfiction for years now, I never fully understood the wonders of taking on a character to try and understand them at such a depth, to the point of attachment really, compared to my previous apathy in story writing.
I have been given this wonderful world to explore, and I could get lost in it for days, whether it makes it to the page or not.
But that's not the only thing. I have never been apart of a fandom before this one. I was once just a little newbie struggling at something new, but to desperate to give BB a break after inhaling all of it in a matter of a week. I started off on Wattpad, seeing the contents of most stories revolving around some sort OC and thought I could bring something new to the table that others and I could discuss. So I wrote my heart out, spending hours agonizing over my nitpicking before I gave up and posted it. Other non-fanfic stories that I considered merely decent in the past had done pretty well, so I suspected at least one person would mention a topic of interest.
I was sorely mistaken.
Nothing. For weeks it was blank. I wrote a couple others and got the same response. To say I was discouraged was an understatement, but Wattpad was such a big site and I decided that maybe looking elsewhere was a wise choice. I researched a bit and found the lovely Archive of Our Own, a place I had briefed over for great reading material in the past. I posted my story, and not only had over 100 people viewed it within the first day (this was insane to beginner me), but most importantly, I received my first comment.
Which was amazing in itself, but more mind blowing it was from @thesightlesssniper, someone I had idolized in eons in secret, finally messaging her from anon three days before I got my account. Her comment was supportive and so sweet, surprising and warming me, that someone with her level of skill actually thought of me so highly. It inspired me to create my first series (that did pretty well actually), and so on and so forth.
(I owe great gratitude to Sightless for doing this for me. She in a sense, helped create Tangablesadness as much as I did)
I've just rambled incredibly long, so sorry XD.
But I've met so many people, created so many bonds. I have ones checking in to ensure my safety, or to joke with me, or to work with me. Those who follow my stories, those that even just reply to my comments are such a blessing, and I feel so happy here. Never before had people been interested and up to speed in the same things as I, so it was amazing to talk and observe such highly intelligent people delve into my passions.
This fandom is just a simple hobby for most people, but it had become a safe space for me.
A place to smile and laugh, discover and expand and best of all learn. To come exhausted and tired and let my mind drift to another place. In sleepless nights to come and sit and create. To interact and watch myself and others grow. I came here losing passion in my favorite thing with growing detachment towards my talents, desiring to give one more shot at writing before ending it forever and moving on with my life.
So many were beside me in this online place, and it gave me purpose again. So thank you, all of you, marrowversusmarrow, Thaliaarche, TheSightlesSniper, Evans3, Phantomichealis, everyone and anyone else I didn't mention (you are not forgotten, I just am to lazy to create a huge checklist XD).
And thank you Yana. I know most people are posting about her amazing characters, or arcs, or plot, or artwork. I find it stunning, and it should be praised, I love this intriguing story, and she is ever so talented. I thank her for creating something more for me to inhale.
But truly, what I feel the most awed by is this place she has created. It has caused me to learn so much about this world (who knew fiction could do that), to push my limits and be humble. This place feels like home, like I am finally apart of this big community, and out of all the things I have the most gratitude for this.
So, for kuro positivity day, I suppose I just wanted to appreciate the lovely place of the Black Butler fandom. Thank you.

Starborn Truths: Chapter 2 - Magical Truths
Starborn Truths
Chapter 2: Magical Truths
Afternoons in Ambrose Towns always shocked Bakari. How its radiance fueled the spirits of its citizen and caressed their soul-stones. He never truly understood it. But their excitement never failed to coil his senses and tickle his magic. Though, he expected no less from the heart of Barikioo’s trading network.
Ambrose Town attracted sellers from the five kingdoms. And they filled the streets with exclusive wares and tips of the trade. An art which thrived on these sacred lands. Loony Lytton told him Lady Tushara—Kiinbi of Trade—blessed the town with greats magic and gifts. And Bakari believed it. Though, hard not to when his soul-stone moaned upon arrival, soaking in the bursting magic.
“Potent fairy veins here, Mystro,” he smiled, stroking his steed’s mane. “Makes for an easy mission.”
Mystro responded with a rumbling neigh. Bakari loved riding him into towns. Especially on a freshly shoveled, dirt road. The peaceful breeze cooled his nerves and set his spirit at ease. Of course, the residents helped with their awe-filled regard. And he loved every second of it. Even indulgenced them with brilliant smile. Regardless of Mystro’s disapproving snort, he couldn’t help it!
Feels great to be loved.
Well, so long as no one touched Mystro.
Of course, there was always that one who ignored the memo. One merchant—a wiry, ashy old man covered in liver spots and rags—came far too close. And even had the audacity to drag those spidery fingers on Mystro! Dangling just underneath his saddle packs.
“Listen boy, I have perfect ware for you,” the sleazebag crackled worse than a chocking rat. Exposing sharpened canines and rotten teeth. “An amulet perfect for absorbing ambient mana. Whaddya say, boy? Tempted? Could be yours for thirty tevenis.”
Merchants thought they were so slick. That no one noticed them oozing that thick honey into their voice until their words stuck to the skin. Prickling the body until they wedged their way inside.
Magic of suggestion. Subtle magic all sellers born in trading centers possessed. And merchants deployed them with ease, slicking their voices with gallons of it as they gestured to their horde. Even the most novice of mages utilized this type of subtle magic. And it worked wonders on lesser humans.
On a mage like Bakari, well… quite a shame, he’d say. “Back off, sleazebag,” he scowled. “Ain’t interested in nothing yer sellin’, got it?”
But the man persisted. The sweet honey ensnared his senses, but the warmth of his soul-stone purged him of the impurities. “C’mon boy, could be useful for your travels. Oh, I know,” Sleazebag ruffled through his rags and yanked out the oddest orb he ever saw. “This magic orb. Legends say it leads the way to great treasure. I’ll throw in both for only forty tevenis!”
So…strange. Bakari couldn’t understand why it looked like a mutated, sickly green seed with strange, petal-like patterns limping across its body. Or why its magical vibrations pulsed so weak.
Sickly magic, he frowned. He never knew magical orbs lost their power over time. And he’s seen his fair share with the Bloody Castors. Granted they all had splashes of vibrant colors and dazzling designs. Nothing lackluster like this one.
“I’m fine,” Mystro started on his path, whipping his tail at the man’s face. “Later sleazebag.”
No distractions, he recited, Tyrell’s words flooding his thoughts. I hafta stay on task.
Still, that orb irked him. With its sickly glow and flickering magic. A haunting melody his soul-stone loathed and squirmed away from. Yet, something pulled him back. Called out him with greasy words and harsh tones. Despite his intuition, he glanced over his shoulder. And that geezer flashed him a creepy, decaying grin. Bakari shuddered.
Strange or not, he couldn’t concede to his feelings. Not when Master Knox granted him this mission.
Perhaps, it’s nothin’, he sighed. After all, hustlers and suckers came in all ages. No sense in spending his hard-earned treveni!
Nonetheless, he needed to stay on mission. Even if Tyrell ain’t send me nothing, he sighed, checking his commlink for the umpteenth time. That man was never reliable when it came to consistent communication. Maybe he be better in other areas, Bakari chuckled. Still, the mission came first. He could have his fun after meeting with Grampa Morris.
Hope he alright, Bakari sighed. It wasn’t like Grampa Morris to ignore his letters. No matter how anti-social he grew with each day.
“Yo! Bakari!” A familiar voice rattled through his ears. A young merchant—perhaps one of the youngest around! —raced over, flailing his arms. A handsome guy with rich carob skin, a short afro with blond tips and a fade, brilliant green eyes, and dressed in a bright parka and bottoms. A true oddity wit those bright green freckles across his nose. Bakari reeled Mystro to a stop, hopped off and greeted the teen. “It’s been ages, stranger! What? I don’t get visits out here?”
“Really, Dumaka?” Bakari rolled his eyes with a smirk. “It been a few months max.”
Dumaka, of all people, couldn’t talk about not seeing someone. Not when his massive family travelled across the continent of Philos! Merchants, the lot of them. And that cut down any quality time when Bakari came to visit.
Dumaka flashed him a fish-eating smirk. “Few months too many! I missed you, bro!” A blush dusted Duma’s handsome feature and Bakari rolled his eyes. Right on que—followed by him rubbing the back of his head and averting his gaze. “And our time together too, Baka.”
“Duma,” he began with a sigh. “Ain’t gon happen. Ya know that.”
For mere moments, the truth deflated Duma before he popped back up with renewed vigor. “Yeah, yeah—I hear ya.” Duma grinned and pulled a small box out of his green and purple patterned parka. “Found this with the fam—might be useful to ya. It’s great seeing you again. Oh, and nice ‘fit.”
Bakari accepted the gift with a grin. He liked to think of himself as a fashion person, sporting patterns of silver and gold with his blue bottoms, heavy boots. Finished off his favorite silver belt stocked with medicine and his personal hunting knife.
“By the way, my aunt ain’t around. Wanna come by the booth?”
Bakari laughed. Only Duma could refer to that massive house as a booth! The perks of living in Ambrose Town, gave Duma’s family the chance to use their home as their selling space. Decked out with stunning lights, free food, and amazing artifacts. And, of course, a dose of magic didn’t hurt.
Did he mention the food?
Still, no aunt around meant Bakari could rest easy.
Beep. Beep. Or not. Bakari sighed. Of course, Tyrell chose now to give him an update. Honestly, that man and his timing. Maybe I can fix that.
“Maybe later. Got a mission, ya know.”
The magic phrase. Duma’s eyes sparkled with wonder as he tried and failed to peek at Bakari’s commlink. As it should be. Duma had his travels, but Bakari had mission. The perfect counterbalance for their crazy lives.
“Aye Huntsman!” Bakari glared him. “What’s the business? Gotta catch another stray?”
Bakari chuckled. “Nah, following up on Grampa Morris’s lead. Something ‘bout a mythical treasure.”
Duma’s excitement fizzled away as worry flickered through his eyes. “Grampa Morris,” he frowned, folding his arms. But Bakari caught his fingers squeezing a tad too tight. “Haven’t heard from him lately. Think he okay? Did he see something?”
Hmm, so it wasn’t only him Grampa Morris ignored. Odd—Has Malik been ignored too? Something wasn’t right here and Bakari knew he had to find out.
“He hasn’t responded to my letters.” Bakari patted Duma’s shoulders and forced a smile. Usually, Duma acted as the light in the darkness. Smiling and changing the mood of those around him. But a good friend picked up the slack when others couldn’t.
“But I’m sure he fine. With his gift, he ain’t gon fall easy, ya know.”
Retired bandit yes, but Grampa Morris still possessed the gift of precognition. A soothsayer with a talent in the mystic arts. Grampa Morris taught Bakari much about his magic and even come combat techniques. Someone as skilled as him didn’t submit to just anyone. No matter how old they got!
Still, he worried for him. Malik wasn’t always around, and Aida only did so much.
“He probably in a mood—you know how he gets.”
“Yes, he does,” a gravelly voice whisked through the air and Bakari flinched. Careless, he chastised himself. With his magic, he should’ve sensed her arrival before she reached earshot. Dear kiinbies, please ensure she hadn’t heard enough of their conversation.
The tall woman stalked over with folded arms and a scowl. Her sandy brown skin decorated in the same hereditary freckles as Duma. Even dressed in the same color pattern with added hoops and bangles. Her menacing forest green eyes glared down at him, foretelling stories of dangerous secrets, twists, and power.
“Hello Bakari, it’s been awhile. One might think you’re avoiding me.”
“That’s ‘cause I am, Anita.” Bakari rolled his eyes. “I ain’t got no reason to see you.”
Anita laughed. An empty, mocking laugh that boiled his anger. “Quite true, boy,” she eyed a bit lower and Bakari grabbed his necklace. “Unless there’s something you need to tell me, Huntsman?”
“It was a gift,” he scowled, tucking it away underneath his clothes. “And watch the name-drop, Porta.”
A mage like her knew better. For any mage to reveal another’s danuko without permission or just cause broke numerous mage code laws! Laws established by the Divine Nine Mage Guilds to preserve the security and safety of mages worldwide. She took an oath to uphold and protect these rights as a Light Core Mage.
Then again, how could he trust the loyalty of a Light Core Mage?
“C’mon now, don’t fight.” Duma interrupted with a nervous smile. “Auntie, I thought you were outta town this week?”
Only Duma soothed the harsh tension. One of his many gifts. Just a flash of that pearly smile doused the rage rumbling within. Bakari sighed and ran a hand through his dreads. Perhaps now wasn’t the time to fight. Not when he had his mission to finish.
Anita only smirked and punched her nephew’s cheeks. “Change of plans,” she sighed, tousling her short braids. “Reports of a magical treasure have surfaced in town. Light Core needs me out here for now.”
Figures. It was only a matter of time before Light Core got involved. Still, he had hoped for more time. As one of the few mage guilds left in Philos, they received any and all information about magic. A necessary since they housed powerful mages who helped secure the safety of Philosians.
Bakari had a few run-ins with those mages, but no proven encounters. The perks of being a world-class archer and sniper.
His commlink vibrated. Perfect, another message from Tyrell. Not they both had news to report. Though he hated to think about Tyrell’s reaction to all this.
“That means I’ll be keeping an eye on you, Bakari.”
An eye on him? Bakari scoffed. “Save yer efforts, sand-brain. You’ll need it for yer mission.” He spared her a nod and climbed onto Mystro. For his credit, Mystro turned up his snout at Anita and whipped his tail in her direction. “Talk to you later, Duma. We can chill then.”
Bakari waited until they were out of earshot to call Tyrell. The holographic screenshot captured the strongman’s heavy scowl perfectly.
“Tyrell, we got a problem.”
