Re-listening to “EPIC: The Musical”. So I’ve been comparing Telemachus and Emily Windsnap a lot…think a key difference between them is only Telemachus knew who his father is. That’s partly why he holds him in such high regard and wants to be like him. When your dad is a beloved hero of course you’ll want him back home. And when your dad is a king of course everyone lines up to replace him and become your new stepdad against your will. Same can’t be said for Emily.

Makes me wonder how different things would be if Emily knew all along who her dad was.

Also I wonder how many men wanted to get with Mary P. during Jake’s absence.

Jake makes jewelry, and he's a creative. It certainly seems something that he'd love doing. I bet he does Emily's hair sometimes too.

this is exactly how I headcanon Jake Windsnap to be after his 12 years in prison. he started out being so malnourished and skinny (and paler too for not being under the sun for so long).

but since getting out, he starts gaining weight and developing a bit of a dad bod as he spends more time to relax more and eat more. he also becomes a bit buffer too for spending so much time on land as a merman

Lil Announcement abt my Emily Windsnap Rewrite

so, the above post was an announcement that my rewrite would be released this year... but some things changed.

I talk a lot about my writing partner, @stormcloudquill, and recently we've decided to add Emily Windsnap to our shared rewrites.

Our initial plan was to release Bloom's Magic first, and then I would release Emily Windsnap alongside it, but now that things have changed, we can't decide which one we'd want first, so, we're leaving it up to you.

I have to be honest I've only ever read books 1-3 of emily windsnap, I have the whole series on my shelf except for 4 but I don't want to read 5 bc I haven't read 4 and I rlly want to read it

I remember a while back you wrote some stuff about Jake Windsnap’s family! Mainly on how they’d react to him marrying a human. What do you imagine they were like? And how much do you think Emily’s life would change if they were part of her story? Or at least mentioned?

So, seeing as they are never mentioned, I figure that probably means that they didn't approve of Jake marrying a human. If they were dead, he'd probably mention them, but he doesn't which implies, at least to me that they don't have a positive relationship.

Jake probably didn't tell them about the 'marrying a human' thing, and once they found out they completely stopped talking to Jake.

If Emily's paternal family had been interested in her while Jake was gone, I could imagine them trying to lure her into the water so they could speak to her, and Emily being kind of aware of mermaids, but not fully. Like there's these weird people with fish tails in the water who say they're her grandparents/aunts/uncles/ etc. Her mom thinks that she just has an imagination.

I have found many AUs where Poseidon turns Odysseus into a merman and they bring me great joy. B u t.

Consider. An AU where he turns him into a full-bore siren. Poseidon allows him to return to Ithica because surely no one will believe him if he tells anyone who he is. So he's left swimming the shores of Ithica with anyone who sees him thinking he's a murderous magical fish woman.

Until he sees Telemacus.

Until Telemacus gets hurt and he jumps to save him.

And Telemacus, being Telemacus, decides that this monster is his new friend. Odysseus can't bring himself to lose the opportunity to get to know his son even though he can't bring himself to say who he is. Then one thing leads to another and Penelope takes it upon herself to meet him again. Once again, Odysseus can't bring himself to tell her who he is, but also can't stand to leave her again. And Penelope, being Penelope, eventually pieces together that this siren is, in fact, her idiot husband who invoked a god's wrath. (and he will always be her husband)

Your Merman!Odysseus drawing reminds me of "The Tail of Emily Windsnap". Where Poseidon/Neptune keeps a merman away for years from his human wife named..wait for it...PENELOPE ;) .

Meanwhile just like Telemachus his kid takes a boat to go searching for him.

Oh interesting!! I have never actually heard of that story. Also calling him a merman is a wee bit of a stretch. He’s more of a snake/eel mix (sea serpent).
