Olive: Join us for the Full Moon Revelry in Whistling Glen this weekend. The Ancestor will be pleased to see you.

Olive: Oh, and you might want to glance behind you before they fade.

The Fool

upright: innocence, free spirit, new beginnings, potential. reversed: being taken advantage of, inconsideration.

Another tarot card edit, this time for Aspen. They're my glamour bard / archfey warlock who was Pied Piper'd into the feywild as a child. During their untold years there, they learned bardic magic and made a warlock pact with Fin (as in "the end"), the god of death, who lives in the feywild.

Eventually, Fin had use for Aspen on the material plane, so he sent them there. They appeared in the middle of an aspen grove with absolutely zero memories. When someone came across them and asked for their name, they panicked and said the name of the trees that surrounded them.

Aspen is utterly unaware that they even are a warlock, believing all of their magic to be bardic in nature. Fin guides Aspen's actions through a "broken" compass that they wear around their neck, believing it to be their lucky charm. In reality it is a talisman of their warlock pact.

Given those tidbits, it's pretty obvious why I chose the fool as Aspen's card. Not only are does their personality and actions fit that of the fool (innocence, a free spirit), but their story does too (new beginnings, being taken advantage of).

The visual of Fin controlling Aspen's actions through the use of marionette strings has long lived in my head, and I'm so glad I was able to finally pull it off!! I will admit that in terms of framing and composition, this is one of my favorite renders I've ever done.

❂ Tarot Legacy Challenge ❂ Gen 0 - The Fool In the spirit of the new pack coming out this month - which finally pays homage to the origin of my URL (!!!) - I'm playing the Tarot Legacy Challenge by @boberta-plums. I recently began exploring tarot for myself and it's been very rewarding, so it's very cool to see the cards come to life in the game! I'm honestly not the best at documenting every moment of my gameplay, but I'm hoping to share some of the highlights here. My next post will introduce my founder - Nate Kelly. There are so many beautiful and diverse tarot decks out there, but for my first generation, I wanted to create a sim inspired by the original Rider Waite deck imagery.

The challenge is linked above, but here is a look at what The Fool generation entails:

Card 0 - The Fool 🌱 "Every new journey begins with a single step, and the master of taking baby steps is the Fool. This is a card that helps us explore and helps us feel safe taking risks. Often considered naive or childish, the Fool shouldn't be undervalued. This is the energy of a person exploring to find their true calling with the approach of trying everything once until something sticks, finding what works and what doesn't, and it is a very important step on the Tarot journey. The Fool may be full of childlike wonder and might be a mystic in the sense that they're mystified by everything, and they might set out without a plan very often in life, but the experiences and friends they make along their journey are invaluable even if those experiences and friends could be classified as 'accidents' or 'accidental encounters'.

Thanks for creating such an in-depth and gameplay-oriented challenge, boberta! I would highly recommend this for all.

Thank you @simarcana so very much for your wonderful and inspiring ask! I do have a very ooc Morgyn who became more of an oc over time. For the story I have in mind for them, I strongly associate them with the Strength card. For their craving of power, their entanglement with lust and all that they have been through to get where they are now. ✨🕯️✨

Tarot

I don't post much about my story on this account, so the characters I've chosen are probably more or less unknown (although I did show some of them already). The tarot cards are a glimpse into their possible future. But who knows what will happen - fortune telling isn't an exact science after all 😉

The cards used are:

III: Three of Cups (no, the card isn't accidentally the wrong way round in the video - that's intentional. A turned card has a different meaning 😉)

The Moon

Of course I had to do a tarot card for Carrion, but I wasn't sure what one to do until my dear beloved friend Angel (who happens to play Valeska, the little warlock who has completely disarmed Carrion) suggested the moon.

Not only is this card perfect for Carrion, I love it because I get to play with and subvert the typical idea of a moon + transformation combo, a werewolf. (Carrion's transformation isn't tied to the moon, but yk.) For example, his "monstrous" form is pictured with the new moon, and his "normal" form is pictured with the full moon, which is the reverse of the typical werewolf lore. Which is fitting given that Carrion's "monstrous" form is the hidden secret.

The meanings of the reversed card are just so fucking perfect for Carrion and his transformation. He's dead set on killing his former mentor who left him for dead in chains. But the whole thing is at heart a huge misunderstanding, because Theodore really didn't have any other option. (He was duty- and oath-bound to protect the rest of the Order, and given that Carrion Reverence had just attacked a member of the Order, he had to choose between Reverence and the many other people he was sworn to protect. It wasn't an easy decision, to the point where he literally lost his divine magic because of regret from leaving Reverence behind, but from the perspective of a Knight Commander, it was the right one.)

And the fear and anxiety are pretty self-explanatory. People are afraid of Carrion's transformation, but he's maybe even more afraid of their reactions. He doesn't want to be experimented on or killed or locked away somewhere. While he hated his transformation at first because he thought it made him a monster (and he still carries more internalized self-loathing than he'd ever admit out loud), now he sees it as a tool, a weapon, a way to protect himself and keep himself safe from anyone who might want to hurt or capture him. (Ignoring the fact that without the transformation no one would want to do those things to him...)
