huge missed opportunity to connect eve and mark thematically btw during the time when robot’s taken over and they have to lay low on earth and pretend everything’s fine. eve shouldve had a moment where she’s too anxious to sleep and she admits to mark that it’s so hard to know she can’t do anything when the man that literally ripped her leg off is just getting away with all his crimes. and sort of grappling with the effects of that personal act of extreme violence against her when she was at her most vulnerable. like… how can she ever feel safe, how can terra ever truly be safe on earth when the man that irreparably hurt her is not only walking free but enjoying a position of power, etc etc. this imaginary conversation i just made up both 1) gives eve some actual agency and complicated feelings regarding this incredibly traumatic event that happened to her which is glossed over in the book and 2) gives voice to the thoughts that mark is unwilling to acknowledge regarding his own experiences with anissa

dungeon meshi does smtn really special for me as an autistic person, not just bc of laios's obvious autistic coding but bc of marcille's picky eating. now, ive only seen 6 episodes of the anime (havent read the manga yet so no spoilers) but i do really love how nobody like...bullies marcille for being a picky eater when it comes to dungeon food. there's an occasional joke or two but ultimately her party encourages her to try new things and will eat things before she does to show her it's safe.

being autistic means i have sensory issues that completely prevent me from eating certain foods, and due to abuse from adults in my life trying to force me to eat these foods-- even occasionally sneaking them into my meals without telling me and making judgemental comments about my body and eating habits-- trying new foods can be genuinely terrifying for me. so idk there's just something really special to me abt marcille's pickiness being met with encouragement instead of bullying. especially bc it results in her actually trying new things. it makes me wanna break out of my comfort zone a lil too and that makes me really happy

I'm lying when I say G4 is my bias in my pinned post actually, because I really love G5. Like really. I feel like a lot of criticism of it comes from people who watched the first season of Make Your Mark and defacto decided that the whole thing is bad. Like. Yeah season 1 of Make Your Mark wasn't great, I understand that, but like. it's the first season of a show with basically new characters that aren't developed fully yet and a new animation style that still had quirks to be figured out. Make Your Mark is so much better story wise animation wise character wise now and people wont give it a chance because season 1 was kinda meh. I think it's kind of a shame really!
