My friend does this a lot so I’m taking a stab at it. I’m looking for more Podcasts to listen to I need to kill sometime the next few days. I’ll tag ones I’m thinking of and ones I liked so far.

I really liked Malevolent (just look at my blog)

A Voice from Darkness is another big one for me. As is Red Valley (I binged that one)

WTN, Wolf 359,, The Storage Papers, The Scarab Archives and the Technomancy Project.

Ones in my to be listened to pocket are as follows Woe.Begone, Kane and Feels: Paranormal Investigators, and Neighborly.

Started and never finished Penumbra, Spirit Box Radio, and Hello from the Hallowoods.

Any other recommendations? And for the ones I listed which would you start with? I tried the Slit Verses that seems popular but I couldn’t get into it.

Cal: Okay, let’s not fight. I broke it. Let me pay for it, East.

East: No! Who broke it?

Stewart: East…Gilbert’s been awfully quiet.

Gilbert: REALLY?!

*Everyone starts arguing*

East: I broke it. It burned my hand, so I punched it. I predict 10 minutes from now they’ll be at each other’s throats with ear pain on their faces and a pig head on a stick. Good. Was getting rather chummy around here.

Jurgen Leitner (The Magnus Archives) vs The Scarab (Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake)

Jurgen

Decided he was so rich and smart and special, he could build and keep contained a library of evil cursed powerful books. Of course this backfires, Jurgen Leitner is almost killed and spends the next decade living in a tunnel system underneath London, presumably shitting in the corners of the cave. The one time he tries to leave the caves he gets beat up by a young goth without knowing why. So back to the caves he goes. A few years later he gets brutal pipe murdered.

Jurgen Leitner was a collector of cursed supernatural books that he thought he could control, despite being kind of a nepo baby with no prior experience. He described himself as ‘I saw myself as a guardian, a reverse Pandora, gathering the evils of the world and locking them away.’ In an even more hubristic move, he marked all his books with the words ‘Property of Jurgen Leitner’. When his library inevitably got destroyed and the books started circulating again, he became universally hated and had to live in the tunnels to hide from people who lost their loved ones to them. He was hyped up as some kind of a major villain throughout the first 2 seasons, but when he ultimately showed up in person, all he did was he delivered some exposition, talked about regretting his life choices in a snotty old man voice, and got killed off almost immediately. He was buried under the name of George Icarus, because even his murderer thought he was a hubristic asshole. I love/hate him very much <3

Scarab

Dude spited his boss and followed an old guy, a 29 year old teenage girl, and a cat across universes just to try and steal a job he thought he deserved from a guy he hates too much. Shockingly this did not work; Hes hot and also cute in a gruesome and super fucked up way and can kick your ass, my ass, and his own ass. Hes loves plants and murder.

Personally I find it intriguing how fantasy characters wander into obviously occult places with full knowledge of the fact that magic exists and start interacting with every damn thing in there like a videogame character.

I mean if I was a cultist trying to summon the Dark One or something and was a part of a raid to aquire the Vital Item from an organisation gathering magic shit I would not start grabbing and using the damn cursed things.

Even IRL if I entered a room covered in sigils I would just turn around and live my life believing I had been only slightly cursed instead of Not. Leaving. At. All.

Made it to the latest update. Of course it ends on a cliffhanger. Anyway, the characters are MUCH more fleshed out now, the story stopped being "Basically Magnus Archives ft. Cthulu" and the last few episodes were actually scary. Lots of very interesting plotlines opening up and the worldbuilding is (aside from the great big baddie(s)) so open you never know what can hit you. I'm into it!

Also, possible transmasc character? 👀

Trying out another podcast (The Scarab Archives) and I'm STUNNED by the sheer contrast between extremely underwhelming voice acting (an eldritch entity nearly brings the house around you down and they sound mildly alarmed at best) and absolutely fantastic spooky voice acting (the entity in question).

Anyway it's pretty trope-y and feels like the Magnus Archives and Marshall Carter and Dark from the SCP Foundation had a weird baby, but the story is very intriguing so I'm not planning to stop any time soon.

I’ve decided to redesign what I think Cal from The Scarab Archives looks like. I wanted to make them look more non-binary. Soo this is Cal in the new fanfic I’m working on.

Also, I was shouted out in the new episode! Hearing that my fanfictions helped save the podcast from being discontinued was probably the best feeling in the world! I’m so glad it’s continuing!
