So the Unwanted guest has given me Pyrrha thoughts that makes me so so emo. If souls are permeable and the lyctor takes from the cavalier over time until parts of them eventually can’t be separated, then that means the person G1deon became was because of Pyrrha. He became Gods attack dog because of what he absorbed from Pyrrha!!

In the John chapters in NtN G1deon feels very different, still loyal to a fault but, he seems less hardened a little more squishy. The same could be said about Pyrrha. Pre-resurrection she was a cop and almost every example of her behaviour she’s yelling at someone, calling them out, telling them they need to toughen up and get thicker skin. Pyrrha also said in HtN that G1deon absorbed more of her than Harrowhark did Gideon.

So this means G1deon took the hardest parts of Pyrrha, the parts that were ruthless and determined. The stuff that made her the perfect soldier. Than when he dies at the end of HtN Pyrrha is left alone, in a body she didn’t want, as the softest version of herself. She felt so much harder for Wake, Nona, Palamedes and Cam, and those feelings of love scared her so bad. And I’m Ntn she’s trying so hard to be that old person and hold it all together, and she feels like she’s failing, but really she’s just succeeding at loving and taking care of people as best she can. Pyrrha is the loving person we know her as because G1deon took the worst parts of her and left her at her best and I’m going to scream.

Mattias Nonius calls G1deon a "rival and ally." Is it possible he knew Pyrrha as well? I'll look for clues on this ntn reread.

Jon Gaius, The Kindly Prince of Death, is a fucking lair.

I will use this as evidence to convince you, that he cannot actually, Resurect.

(now keep in mind that i cannot use the entirety of all the out books because I'm only part way through Nona.)

Firstly, he's an egotistical ass who let a bunch of his closest friends murder eachother without so much as saying 'hey maybe don't?'. Second, he lied about him getting fucked by Resurrection Beast madness. Third, he lied about Anastasia 'mucking up the whole process', and then sent her to the ninth house to go rot far away from where the other lyctors could see her.

And fourth, he never does anything about the plights of others, like he just puts the weight of stopping The Saint of Duty purely on Harrow's shoulders because of a promise? Like dude, someone's life is on the line. Jod probably could've just, gotten rid of RB's without any Lyctors sacrificing themselves, and he just... doesn't.

Okok, so conclusion: Yknow how he says he will never resurrect again because the cost is too great? What if its not, because as far as we know, there is no cost to resurrection. So I propose, that is was either through the initial thanergy cascade that he was able to resurrect, or it was only with his second half being awoken that we was capable if it.

(Keep in mind I'm only half way through day three of Nona, so if any of this is disproven, feel free to mock me in whatever way you want)

Talking about appreciating Gideon's character and how he is more charismatic than people think, this is one of my favorite scenes of him.

Everything going on between Harrow and G1deon is fascinating, and we would be able to see it a lot more if John didn't order Gideon to kill Harrow, as the two end up in an interesting split between mirrors and opposites.

Let's look at all of their traits that they share in similar:

Both of them have a shard of their cavalier's consciousness floating around them. Probably the most obvious similarity.

Their relation with God ends up being different from the other Lyctors, with Augustine and Mercymorn being in a weird threesome with God while plotting against him, and Ianthe doesn't appear to be very close to God. Throughout HtN, Harrow and Gideon are more loyal to John than the other Lyctors, and are completely platonic with him. Their relations aren't completely identical, as Gideon serves as John's attack dog, a role that Harrow does not fulfill.

Their weapons. In HtN, Gideon's use of a spear for an offhand is seen as shocking, but Gideon's actual offhand is even more unusual than that: a rapier. His spear is his primary weapon, and his rapier most likely serves the purpose of an offhand or sidearm, carried for tradition. Harrow's primary is Nav's two-hander, but she uses a rapier, as she cannot effectively wield the longsword. If the lobotomy never happened, she would most likely eventually use the two-hander as her primary weapon, with the rapier for fighting in cramped environments. Either way, both a spear and a zweihander are battlefield primary weapons that are most likely rarely seemy with cavs, while a rapier, the standard of a cavalier, was never used on the battlefield in the real world.

Personality. Both are much more introverted than the other Lyctors, not really liking the social dinners, and preferring to be on their own, all without the caustic reactions Mercy has to these sorts of things.

Now let's look at some traits they have that the other has the opposite of.

Build. Gideon is a hulking, muscular man. Harrow is a tiny, frail nunlet.

Combat preference. Gideon barely uses necromancy, primarily using his spear and rapier, while Harrow relies on necromancy.

Age. Gideon is over ten thousand. During HtN, Harrow is eighteen. Of course, the same goes for other Lyctors in comparison to Harrow, but worth noting nonetheless.

Eyes. Harrow has black irises, Gideon has Pyrrha's bright green ones.
