john gaius is truly one of the characters ever. he hated trillionares. he stopped the apocalypse by causing a different apocalypse. he was the man who become god, and the god who became man. he was an absent father. he blew up the planet, and resurrected it as hollywood hair barbie. he killed all his friends, brought them back, and erased their memories. had miserable hate sex with some of those friends. he killed a lot of cows. he was a twitch streamer. he put said barbie in a tomb. he committed actual war crimes. old men pity fuck him. he was even bisexual.

the update confirmed that Shadow Milk is kinda the only one who can be like a ghost and shit and I can't stop thinking about this scenario where Sour Butter was a baby (before their parents sent them away to crispia) and one night they were bawling their eyes out, but when Benign Butter was about to enter their room, the crying suddenly stopped, and is replaced with giggles of joy. ofc Benign is glad that the crying stopped, but curiosity got the better of her and opens the door anyway

my verdict on the day of the doctor novelization is that the plot is still so stupid to me but at least i can live my life knowing moffat can write ten marginally correctly but he only keeps it in a novelization where nobody is going to see it. (my personal highlights under the cut)

this is a really good take on the ten and river dynamic, they're acquaintances and ten purposefully keeps it that way. the "time can be rewritten maybe her horrible death that happened in front of me can be prevented if i stay away from her" really goes well with how he's left after the events of journey's end

"he had to stop thinking before it tore him apart!" is THE most ten narration i've seen in my life. i need to eat rocks

this part just makes me really really sad. the dissociation between the tone and what's actually happening (him getting tortured. for months). how he's so clearly not acknowledging what's happening to him (he won't describe the screaming as his own). how he latches onto the only other presence there and focuses on charming her and making her laugh??? this also makes the hinting at a romance between ten and elizabeth that moffat does, extremely fucking upsetting because you can see how ten is just so fucking lonely and on instinct attaching himself to anyone who has any amount of regular presence to him. even if. well. you know. the torture.

Thinking on the possible differences for the upside down stuff with winged!Eddie like him diving after Steve at water gate would be so much more nerve wracking with it being such the antithesis of what Eddies used to/comfortable with he's meant to be in the air not diving into water after a (pretty) boy to a hell dimension! Another being Eddie going full tilt flight wise for the first time when drawing the demobats from Dustin (and surviving).

But then there's Steve who unknown to the party (and maybe himself) has the inherent gene for wings due to a grandparent/great grandparent who had a winged parent/siblings and it didn't get passed down getting wings due to upside down fuckery but instead of the expected feathers they're bat wings
