The best advice I got from my aunt, the great singer Rosemary Clooney, and from my dad, who was a game show host and news anchor, was: don't wake up at seventy years old sighing over what you should have tried. Just do it, be willing to fail, and at least you gave it a shot. That's echoed for me all through the last few years.
(George Clooney)

BEST NEEDLE DROP IN SPN (PT.3)
This will probably be our toughest triad of polls KNOWN TO THE SPN FANDOM. (In our humble opinion, at any rate.) Firstly: what is a needle drop? For the purposes of these polls, a needle drop is an instance of music licensing, or music not written for (but brilliantly used in) the show. There were bunches, but we narrowed it down to our top 30, divided at random into groups of 10. The three winners of these polls will then compete for the A-1, first place, bestest needle drop in hit cult series, Supernatural. Hold onto your headphones, fandom, and LET'S GET VOTING!
NOTE: We didn't include 'Carry On Wayward Son', because come on, that just wouldn't be fair. Oh, and we used the original show selections, not whatever transpired via Netflix. Part 1 Part 2

The flood of "Trump-fearing" American liberals/progressives sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week. The Republican presidential win is prompting an exodus among left-leaning Americans who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray, pay taxes, and live according to the Constitution. Canadian border residents say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, global-warming activists, and "green" denergy proponents crossing their fields at night.
"I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said southern Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota . "He was cold, exhausted and hungry, and begged me for a latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left before I even got a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?"
In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. He then installed loudspeakers that blared Rush Limbaugh reruns across the fields, but they just stuck their fingers in their ears and kept coming. Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals just south of the border, pack them into electric cars, and drive them across the border, where they are simply left to fend for themselves after the battery dies. "A lot of these people are not prepared for our rugged conditions," an Alberta border patrolman said "I found one carload without a single bottle of Perrier water, or any gemelli with shrimp and arugula. All they had was a nice little Napa Valley cabernet and some kale chips. When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often wailing that they fear persecution from Trump high-hairers.
Rumors are circulating about plans being made to build re-education camps where liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer, study the Constitution, and find jobs that actually contribute to the economy.
In recent days, liberals have turned to ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have been disguised as senior citizens taking a bus trip to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young vegans in blue-hair wig disguises, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior citizens about Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney to prove that they were alive in the '50s. "If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we become very suspicious about their age."
Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage, are buying up all the Barbara Streisand CD's, and are overloading the internet while downloading jazzercise apps to their cell phones. "I really feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. "After all, how many art-history majors does one country need?”

What is your least favorite era for historical costume?
I don't like the 1830s much, particularly the love for those oversized sleeves on women's dresses. The hairstyles don't enchant me either.

Who is your favorite costume designer?
I don't have one, actually... I feel a bit bad about that :/
I suppose Edith Head by default? She was behind so many iconic movie costumes.
What movie or show has your favorite costumes for an imaginary culture?
Answered in the last ask, though for seconds, I'll go with Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. It's a post-apocalyptic setting so the clothes are mostly practical, but they still have distinctive cultural touches, showing that there is still room for style and beauty in this world.
Who’s your favorite stylish character?
Reggie in Charade. From her pajamas to that banana yellow coat, I want every single item in her wardrobe. It's like the early 60s personified in one single character's entire aesthetic.
Actually, I want to cover TV as well-- Mel in Arcane. Holy shit, I love everything about her look. Like Padme, she's got the whole "badass, smart, classy lady politician" look going on and I adore it.
What’s a screen costume that you would wear IRL?
Rosemary Clooney's black dress in White Christmas. I love the cut, the fabric, the gloves, the everything.

MADE UP MONDAY
Good news! We've saved the Columbia Inn for General Waverly. There wasn't any snow at his Vermont inn so nobody was coming. We staged a big musical with our old war buddies, got it broadcasted on TV, and raised enough money to keep him in business.
On our final number, it started snowing. Ain't that a coincidence?
It was a great show. We brought in Rosemary Clooney, the Fighting 151st, and Larry, his brother Darryl, and his other brother Darryl from the Minuteman Cafe next door.
Now if you'll excuse me I have to go defend my home from the Wet Bandits.
I love you, baby. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas with you. MWAH!
Y'all have a great day and may your days be merry and bright.

I’ve been thinking on Suzy and Virginia’s “call me maybe”-esque makeover scenes and songs! Inspired by @cornerofhell
Virginia
This would be the day of her and Santa’s wedding. Nothing was as set in stone as it would be in this moment and Virginia didn’t really have a choice of what she would wear, she got some input but the E.S.O took care of most of it. The song of choice is-
Song 2 by Blur-
you all may know it as the “WOO HOO!” song, lmao. It was written as satire on pop music of the day and many of the lyrics, I feel, relate to the feeling of drugs and addiction that comes with fame. For Virginia, the grandiosity of it is also a symbol of the new power she’s coming in to despite the lack of control.
She stands in front of the mirror in her own clothes for the last time that day and takes a bump off of her coke nail, the first few strums of the guitar play and has the powder goes up her nose we break out in to-
“I got my head checked
By a jumbo jet
It wasn't easy
But nothing is
No”
The rock guitar and drums kick back in, the elven satanic order enter the room and begin to dress her in her norse costume. The camera is cut quickly and everything happens at double speed. Only through it all, her face is still and facing forward, unchanging through it all.
“When I feel heavy metal
(Woo-hoo) And I'm pins and I'm needles
(Woo-hoo) Well, I lie and I'm easy
All of the time but I'm never sure why I need you
Pleased to meet you.”
As things come to a close and she’s finally all cleaned up and new they leave her alone once more, the-
“Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
Oh, yeah”
-of the ending hyping her up to go out there and bind her body, soul, and being to a man she loves but is certain she’s scared of in front of a million demons.
Suzy
The song is Suzy Snowflake by Rosemary Clooney, was there ever any doubt???
Now, this is after the kidnapping, transformation, her first human meal, all of it. Jack has gotten her all of her old clothes from her room, her makeup and jewelry too. She just got done putting on a fashion show for him which the audience would only see the beginning of as it very quickly descends in to…the opposite of a fashion show if you get what I mean. It’s the least she can do to thank him for making sure she can have a little bit more of her familiar life style.
The scene takes place a little later once they’ve finished and Suzy is about to sit down in front of the mirror when Jack stops her, telling her he has another special gift for her.
“I want to see you in it when I’m back doll, since your little show got cut short.”
He says he has to run so he leaves her with this big white box. She gets down on her knees and slowly begins to open it, cue music.
“Here comes Suzy Snowflake
Dressed in a snow-white gown
Tap, tap, tappin' at your windowpane
To tell you she's in town”
She opens the box and inside is a long white sweater dress, white furry heeled boots, and an expensive fur coat.
“Here comes Suzy Snowflake
Soon you will hear her say
Come out ev'ryone and play with me
I haven't long to stay”
With an almost uncharacteristic jubilation she gets up and begins to put it all on until for the first time she’s in the full “Suzy Snowflake” get up. She loves the way the fur feels on her skin, she’s missed the feeling of high heels, the coat flows out like an extravagant cape as she spins around in it.
“If you want to make a snowman
I'll help you make one, one, two, three
If you want to take a sleigh ride-“
Suzy looks at herself in the mirror, for the first time since she was turned she really takes a look at her new face. Everything feels…right. Suzy studies her hands, clawed and covered in thick frostbite. She smiles wide, her jaw unhinging and ripping her cheeks, but she does not feel pain. It’s like her body was always meant to do it. She feels more beautiful than ever.
“-Whee! The rides on me!”
She closes her eyes and begins to imagine what she can do now that she’s truly free. We flash between images of her being splashed with blood, in an almost cinematic sense like it’s being thrown on her with a bucket, images of her cutting away at something small and beneath her, images of her beginning to pull up viscera and stuffing her face with it. The song starts to repeat its I guess chorus?
“Here comes Suzy Snowflake
Look at her tumblin' down
Bringing joy to ev'ry girl and boy
Suzy's come to town.
Here comes Suzy Snowflake
Dressed in a snow-white gown
Tap, tap, tappin' at your windowpane
To tell you she's in town.”
It’s clear that some time has passed in her state of euphoria and as the song begins to fade out Jack returns. She can sense that he’s returned with her budding cryoscience and runs out to greet him. As the song slowly fades out with an instrumental peak she grabs his hand and says something to him the music drowns out, leading him out of the door.
It’s safe to assume she likes his gift and wants to take it for a spin.

Singer Billie Anthony, was born on October 11th 1932 in Glasgow.
Christened Philomena McGeachie Levy, Billie had a good start to break into the world of show business, as her godmother was Gracie Fields, although her parents divorced when she was just 18 days old. Her mother, Lily, was a dancer, and young Philomena spent her childhood around the theatre, hoping for a career as a dancer.
In 1946, at age 14, Billie ran away from home and joined a touring show as one of May Moxon’s troupe. She met Peter Elliott and formed a double act with him, touring theatres as Phil & Peter Elliott, the Debonair Dancers. This act was abandoned when Peter was called up for national service in the Royal Air Force. Taking advice from another friend, Tony Brent (who had become a successful singer), she decided to take up singing as a solo artist, changing her name to Billie Anthony, and after Brent introduced her to his manager, Don Agness, she signed with Columbia Records.
Despite releasing numerous singles during the early ‘50s, only one ever reached the charts, a version of Stuart Hamblen’s “This Ole House,” but even though it peaked at number four, it lost out at that time to a much bigger-selling version by Rosemary Clooney.
During the mid-'50s Billie Anthony regularly toured theatres, including an appearance at the Royal Albert Hall and several with Harry Secombe in the variety show Rocking the Town, so although not having chart success, she enjoyed a fruitful career for a time.
When Peter Elliott returned from national service, they married but divorced several years later. She continued to tour, entertaining the troops in Cyprus, Malta, and North Africa, but eventually retired from show business and became a full-time mother.
In 2001, as part of their reissue series, EMI released the CD ^EMI Presents the Magic of Billie Anthony, which included 33 tracks, 22 of which had been released as singles, including her one and only hit.
Billie Anthony spent the latter part of her life living in the North London area of Hornsey. She suffered a series of strokes and died on the January 5, 1991, at the age of 58.
There is a massive amount of info about this cracking Scottish singer on webpage dedicated to her life, it describes her as “Britains Blonde Bombshell”

Before long Eugene "Gene" Chavez was a toddler.
Gene was Evie's shadow, he loved books and being anywhere his mom was.
Julian had taken a greater interest in television. He especially loved the Ed Sullivan show but also enjoyed Gunsmoke.
Jimmy still stayed under Uncle B's feet. Jimmy had decided he wanted to run a club like his uncle.
Jimmy asked about how his uncle chose bands, how was it being around the musicians, what was Bobby Darin like, had he met Rosemary Clooney or Fats Domino?
Bernie, didn't want to burst his dream but also wanted Jimmy to pick a more sensible career. He explained that he picked musicians based on their potential draw, how many tickets could he sell. Bigger acts cost more money, but he could sell more tickets to their shows. He told Jimmy that he didn't spend a whole lot of time with the artists, so he couldn't really speak to how they were. He had to focus on the less fun things like making sure people were doing there jobs.
Jimmy gushed over how when he ran his club, he'd hire someone else to do that so he could hang out with the musicians. Bernie just nodded his head and smiled.
