OH OH OH MERBABY ROSE!!!!

Can I ask about Mer baby!Rose? Like, how did she got seperated from Ethan and Mia? And how Chris found her? And possibly what her species is. One thing for sure is that she is so cute!!!

There's a lot of confusion and sad memories that come from 'the old home'. Shortly before migration, the waters where Jill, Leon, Chris, Claire, and many others grew up was practically becoming uninhabitable. Skirmishes were very common, and shipping freighters often crossed their waters in addition to newer additions of runoff and coastal construction. Add in overfishing in their region- well, danger was everywhere, and it wasn't uncommon for the group to encounter others struggling. Sometimes it would end amiably. Other times, not so much. Chris was the one to find Rose as a seeming lone survivor of her pod after an underwater landslide incident. They took her in, which was around when Jill finally managed to round up everyone she was looking for. Soon after, they migrated away. Rose healed up well, and she's VERY well taken care of now! She's raised by pretty much everyone in the pod (a common practice) but she's latched onto Chris!

Okay, its kinda cheating using an AU but hear me out, I already did this theme last year with canon Ellie and Charles.

Little explains: They met when Charles just became a vampire and his transformation was really messed up (he literally lost half of his viscera). And Elly wasn’t in mood for babysitting neophyte, but she had to as a leader of Akaibara (which was a sanctuary for non-humans)

He finds himself drawn back to the wood again and again, but there are stranger powers at work than just a knight and a few roses. A little digging reveals that most who enter the Aikenwood don’t come out again, and Dean isn’t all he appears to be. With their lives and feelings tangling like vines, Castiel soon finds he must do everything he can to save Dean from an impossible fate that threatens to tear them apart forever. But the truth has both roses and thorns, and Cas isn’t sure which he’s going to find if he succeeds…

This fic offers whimsy and thrills in equal amounts. I'm always a fan of mixing supernatural elements in with a Dean and Cas who don't know entirely what they're dealing with, so this fic instantly appealed to me. It also has plenty of twists and turns, one of which took me entirely by surprise.

This fic's fairy tale elements come from the fact that Dean is a knight who is trapped in a bower full of roses. A little investigating by Castiel leads him to discover that Dean has been cursed by the Fae King as a punishment. He cannot leave the bower, and time will pass him by until he gives into the Fae King and gives him what he wants. Intrigued by Dean, Cas starts to visit him almost every day, bringing Dean music, movies, and even pie.

Mutual pining abounds as Cas finds himself falling in love with Dean. I'm always a fan of fics where Dean and Cas genuinely enjoy spending time together, and in this fic, you can see Cas' feelings for Dean develop. Unfortunately for Cas, the Fae King's patience wears out, and suddenly Dean's curse comes with an expiration date--for Dean.

This fic is a charming and fun retelling of a fairy tale. Those unfamiliar with the original will be intrigued, and those familiar with the original will enjoy seeing Dean and Cas in their new setting!
