Child Labour in the British Industrial Revolution
Children were widely used as labour in factories, mines, and agriculture during the British Industrial Revolution (1760-1840). Very often working the same 12-hour shifts that adults did, children as young as five years old were paid a pittance to climb under dangerous weaving machines, move coal through narrow mine shafts, and work in agricultural gangs.
It was very often the case that children's jobs were well-defined and specific to them, in other words, child labour was not merely an extra help for the adult workforce. The education of many children was replaced by a working day, a choice often made by parents to supplement a meagre family income. It was not until the 1820s that governments began to pass laws that restricted working hours and business owners were compelled to provide safer working conditions for everyone, men, women, and children. Even then a lack of inspectors meant many abuses still went on, a situation noted and publicised by charities, philanthropists, and authors with a social conscience like Charles Dickens (1812-1870).
A Lack of Education
As sending a child to school involved paying a fee – even the cheapest asked for a penny a day – most parents did not bother. Villages often had a small school, where each pupil's parents paid the teacher, but attendance was sometimes erratic and more often than not the education rudimentary in hopelessly overcrowded classes. There were some free schools run by charities, and churches often offered Sunday school. Not until 1844 were there more free schools available, such as the Ragged schools established by Anthony Ashley-Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury (1801-1885). These schools concentrated on the basics, what became known as the 3 Rs of Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic. Compulsory education for 5 to 12-year-olds, and the institutions necessary to provide it, would not come along until the 1870s. Consequently, "at least half of nominally school-age children worked full-time during the industrial revolution" (Horn, 57).
Some factory owners were more generous than others to the children in their employ. An example is the Quarry Bank Mill in Styal in the county of Cheshire. Here the owner provided schooling after the long working day was over for 100 of its child workers in a dedicated building, the Apprentice House.
An indicator of better education, despite all the difficulties, is literacy rates, rather imperfectly measured by historians by recording the ability of a person to sign one's name on official documents such as marriage certificates. There was a great improvement in literacy, but by 1800, still only half of the adult population could sign their name to such documents.
For those children who could find work in the Industrial Revolution, and there were employers queueing up to offer it, there were no trade unions to protect them. For the vast majority of children, working life started at an early age – on average at 8 years old – but as nobody really cared about age, this could vary wildly. Working involved at best tedium and at worst an endless round of threats, fines, corporal punishment, and instant dismissal at any protest to such treatment. In one survey taken in 1833, it was found that the tactics used with child labourers were 95% negative. Instant dismissal accounted for 58%. In only 4% of cases was a reward given for good work, and a mere 1% of the strategies used involved a promotion or pay rise.

https://olderthannetfic.tumblr.com/post/749266210223489024/i-dont-care-about-what-xjz-did-but-the-idea-that#notes
Cooooooorrect me if I'm wrong. But this is about this: https://olderthannetfic.tumblr.com/post/748708287052218368/httpsolderthannetfictumblrcompost74823153155
Isn't it? Because that's literally the only post about XJZ and calling them out about the French stuff.
I've reread that post like three times now, and literally nowhere does it say "cultural appropriation". It's a critique of someone who IS a foreigner trying to educate people about the culture they live in, and people who actually do know more. XJZ has literally no ties to France or Europe. They're not French Chinese, they're not French Canadian. They're Chinese Canadian, and they have a really bad habit of arguing with French people who clear up actual facts about French history.
That has nothing to do with you ass-pulling the implication of "cultural appropriation", literally nothing in the OOOP even mentions that. In fact it seems to have absolutely nothing to do with this. It's not about cultural appropriation, it has to do with cultural and historical illiteracy of XJZ while trying to educate people through said illiteracy. This also does have something to do XJZ being someone who does factually not have any ties to France or French history, being a "mouthy foreigner" and "telling literal French people they're victims of propaganda and they're getting RS (Robespierre) and the French revolution all wrong," when people explain their own countries history and being a weird Frenchieboo about French politicians.
What has XJZ done to prove that they know more about the French Revolution or French history to try and educate others about these things beyond having a crush on that Politician and being into violent revolts? Like, what credentials do they have to tell everyone else they're wrong, even those educated in the specific field, while they themselves are correct with all their little headcanons and fluffy memes?
"someone having bad takes about a historical event that every country teaches in like middle school" You were taught something about French revolution, that doesn't mean it was taught well, or that you actually understand the historical, culture or after effects of that history in the actual country where it happened. Hell, even in the countries where something happened there's a habit that history is poorly taught, or not understood by the students, so what makes you think that what you learned about a foreign country was actually taught well or accurately? Or that you even understood the cultural significance to the people of that country when it was taught in middle school? That feels a bit like a weird thing to bring up anyhow, you were taught this in middle school, because that is going to make you an expert on it more so than people who live in that culture where the after-effects still exist, and/or people who actually studied that era of French history. Which again are people XJZ has quarrelled with and told them they're wrong all on the basis of their obsession.
And just to add this on, looking at the state of the internet and people in general, I really wouldn't flex with history education you received in school especially middle school, seeing as to how painfully historically illiterate people are to the point of not even being able to understand what they were taught. Historically literacy has literally been on a downward movement for some time now, especially with all the misinformation and uncritical acceptance of it by people.
Being culturally, historically and otherwise illiterate, and people calling them out for it is not the same as calling something "cultural appropriation", and by weaponizing and actually important term to defend their shit takes really isn't impressive. If you lie and/or misconstrue literal history, and people call you out on that it has nothing to do with calling "cultural appropriation" and everything to do with correcting historical misinformation, especially if it is something you have an actual understanding of. But I guess this also kinda explains the level of historical illiteracy that exists on the web, if there are more people like you out there.

All vehicles are equipped with the new generation BOXER. The Legacy has Subaru's will to drive.
BOXER Three power units full of driving pleasure.
New generation horizontally opposed engine = BOXER.
All vehicles are equipped with the new generation BOXER, which is a further development of Subaru's traditional horizontally opposed engine and pursues the potential suitable for a driver's sedan. The 2.0-liter 4-cam 16-valve EJ20 has high performance across the entire range, the 1.8-liter 16-valve EJ18 is a highly complete and well-balanced base engine, and the EJ20 Turbo is a high-performance unit equipped with a water-cooled intercooler and turbo. In particular, the EJ20 Turbo comes in two versions, the 200ps (GT) which provides ample, flat torque and linear response from low to mid-range to high revolutions, and the 220ps (RS) which pursues top-end power at high revolutions, in line with the driving concept. All of them are equipped with a 5-bearing crankshaft, a flywheel housing cylinder block, and a comprehensive electronically controlled injection system. It makes the most of the natural qualities of the BOXER, such as its high engine rigidity and vibration and rotation characteristics, to deliver precise response and an exhilarating power feel.
The technology focuses on depth rather than freshness. This driving experience embodies Subaru's philosophy.
All-range electronically controlled 4-speed fully automatic E-4AT
This is the latest automatic transmission that gives drivers a lot of freedom. Automatic control of power/normal gear shift modes provides smooth and agile acceleration. Seven select positions and a manual switch provide versatility. Highly easy to drive and precise driving according to driving conditions are possible.
For more reliable operation of AT vehicles ●Key interlock ●Shift lock ●Reverse alarm
●AT select indicator is adopted.
Electronically controlled active torque split 4WD
This is Subaru's world-renowned original 4WD high-speed easy-drive system. The computer accurately judges the driving conditions and road surface conditions, and instantly and continuously controls the torque distribution between the front and rear wheels. It always maximizes the potential of the 4WD, creating a stable and refined driving experience. In addition, manual transmission vehicles are equipped with a center differential full-time 4WD with a viscous LSD.
It fits your hand, your body, and your movements. This space is designed with a passion for running.
The interior of the Legacy is designed around the theme of driving pleasure, just like the mechanism. The interior is wrapped in a sense of security and has a rich texture, reflecting Subaru's commitment to driving. In addition, the GT (AT model) is available with a manufacturer-installed option of genuine leather seats with a soft texture that become more comfortable the more you use them.

Matured legs. New strut suspension.
In pursuit of a deep ride that resonates pleasantly with the driver's sensibilities in any situation and becomes more appealing the more you ride, we thoroughly pursued the fundamentals of the suspension.
The roll center is set low to obtain a good feeling of control and grip of the tires. The system has been thoroughly refined to ensure ample wheel stroke and reduce friction. You can enjoy a relaxed, solid ride and handling that is faithful to your will.
PHOTO: 4WD 4-door sedan GT Indigo Blue Metallic
A steering system with a firm steering feel.
The steering system also has sufficient rigidity and is more responsive, and also features light power steering.
Reliable 4-wheel disc brakes & 4-channel ABS
The Legacy's stopping ability has also been thoroughly improved. Large-capacity brakes and boosters are used on all vehicles, and EJ20-equipped vehicles are equipped with 4-wheel disc brakes. The 4-wheel anti-lock brakes (ABS) are also the most advanced system currently available, with a 4-sensor 4-channel control method developed.
(ABS is a manufacturer option, and the settings vary depending on the type, so please refer to the catalog for details.)
A quality-feeling ride and highly rigid body.
The Legacy's powerful driving feel is due to its incredibly strong body, which boasts overwhelming rigidity. In addition to thoroughly strengthening the basic structure, large stiffening materials are used in various parts to increase overall rigidity.

was thinking and had an idea. DSEM. this is dallas in honkai: star rail btw.
in HSR, there are things called aeons. they are basically gods. i consider them titans or like above gods. they aren’t human in any form and not seen often. each aeon represent a certain thing. lemme pull up the hsr wiki page for you bc i will be talking about them for this.
https://honkai-star-rail.fandom.com/wiki/Aeon
the list of aeons will be under “currently known aeons”.
OKAY SO what im getting at is basically… if dallas entered hsr, would he be considered an aeon? well, i mean, by definition he already is one. BUT!!! im not sure if he would be an HSR aeon.
he might rise to aeonhood or just be an emanator. but if he was an aeon, idk what his Path would be. like… the ideas i have for him are already taken by existing aeons. like the Trailblaze is perfect. maybe Long, the Permanence, but we don’t know enough about it. The Hunt might also be a Path, but i think it would be better for younger dallas. The Recollection fits very, very well because of the nature of the Star-Weavers.
but besides those, i don’t know what dallas would be. like if i think about it, he could be the aeon of humanity, but that seems to fit Xipe, the Harmony. and i don’t think ‘the humanity’ is the right word either, because it’s a person noun and not like… yk? idk how to explain. the other Paths are more of concepts. The order, the Enigmata, The Elation, The Propagation, The Remembrance, The Trailblaze, The Voracity, The Finality—etc etc.
i’m looking for hsr aeon ocs lmao. i’m really thinking hard on this. i need ideas. i found ocs The Rebirth and The Renaissance (i love those). also The Morality. found one called The Raidance but idk what that means, one sec—literally nothing comes up. maybe they misspelled radiance? idkkk. JACKPOT ON THE FANON WIKI LETS GOOOOO. The Reverie, The Enlightenment, The Reality, The Euphony, The Genesis, The Longing, and more.
i’m not taking any of those bc they’re all someone else’s but hhhhh ideas, ideas.
ykw? dallas might be The Revolution. rebellion could also work but the definitions are different. rebellion is normally a violent uprising against something. rebellions may cause revolution, but one doesn’t indicate the other. however, revolution is a change, usually to the power structure. (also thanks reddit comment for that). The Resistance also works.
i also really like him as The Rebirth.
but also, he’s an outlier because he can do a lot of shit that other aeons can’t. so perhaps he could also be something like the outcast, the outsider, the unknown—ugh but those aren’t Paths.
lemme actually put this in an easier format
The Revolution
The Resistance
The Rebirth
The Reality (wow a lot of Rs)
a classic: The Guidance (which fits well since Star-weavers are. yk. Guides.)
out of those, i think my favs are The Guidance, The Rebirth, then The Revolution.
anyways what do you think? i personally was writing this to ask for input on Path names but i guess i got carried away lmao
for a good second i got hsr and pjsk mixed up and got really confused LMAO
ooooo wait ok these guys sound cool
i think i really like the revolution!! it fits him super well and feels the most like concept-y to me out of those options. the others sound really cool tho

After a lot of discussions on the snowbaird discord I was thinking about this particular au, and decided to share over here too
I hate ff with imaginary kids, but for some reason, snowbaird kids are very appealing to me. Snow and his granddaughter are so interesting dynamic
In this situation, snow is a better person, duel to the influence of Sejanus good nature and fortune (pa brought them back to the capital, and died like two years after), the fortune is shared with snow under the promise that he ends the dictator government (like Plutarch they're gonna end it from inside out). Snow is still dr Gaul protege, but in an infiltrate type of thing
Snow and Lucy gray keep their rs going through letters, (she stays in the district, for obvious reasons), also under the promise he's gonna end the hg.
After 5 years, snow as any other politics is still very greed, and now has a good position in the system (he killed Gaul), being able to bring Lucy gray to the capitol (they are together working to end the hg), they married, have one kid, very alike snow.
After another year, there's the second child, my Katniss look alike. She has Lucy gray features, but snow personally (his favorite, of course).
For choosing their children's name, they made a bet: the one whose genes are a winner gets to pick the name, so is Lucy gray turn
Following the covey tradition the girl's name is Corinna Daffodil. Based upon the color summer daffodil and the poem "Corinna's going a-maying", about the May day celebration, the delights of life and seize the day with your lover
In this tradition kids go pick flowers and they celebrate the spring season (a nod to Katniss, she's not gonna be the face of revolution, but somehow it's gonna be here)
This kid is the reason that snow is fully convinced. Another five years passes and he is able to change the system, now a democracy. He's the most prominent figure and became the president, but now a good one, because he has Sejanus and Lucy gray by his side
Corinna's name also represents the end of winter (snow and his bad bad side), and the celebration of the new season. Spring, a time that brings hope (aka the new government)
The other kids are gonna have daddy issues and some siblings rivalry (because I like that 🤣).
I think it's really fun to think about the angst in snowbaird rs. Snow almost left himself going to the bad side, because it's easier for him to get power, Lucy gray doubling snow's intentions. How they gonna hide their rs until snow has a good position, the tricks and turns they made to fool people in the capitol, etc.
#coriolanus snow#lucy gray baird#snowbaird#alternative universe#fanfic#writing prompt#they consume my every waking thought

Rajputana Customs: Crafting Royal Beasts For The Riders
In the vast world of cars, where trends change quickly, there’s a quiet revolution happening on the lively streets of India—the art of customising motorcycles. While the world has embraced making motorcycles unique, this trend is just starting to take hold in India.
One name that rises above the asphalt in personalized luxurious bikes is Rajputana Customs.
In the lively heart of Jaipur, this custom haven doesn’t just tinker with bikes; it spins tales on two wheels. Rajputana Customs is no ordinary workshop; it’s a place where a new chapter is added to the story of personalization. Here, every twist of the throttle is a pulsating heartbeat, echoing the passion and uniqueness of each rider.
Rajputana Customs orchestrates a masterpiece in the symphony of luxury lifestyle in roaring engines and clinking tools.
Rajputana Custom motorcycles are about being unique. Off-the-rack stuff is dull – too much plastic and not enough character. Customizing is how bikers put their stamp on things, making them truly theirs. It’s sticking to the real reason bikes got cool in the first place—they’re an extension of the rider, pure fun. The paint, bike type, and tune-up all shout out what the rider’s into.
John Abraham chose Rajputana Custom at Auto Expo 2010 for his bike revamp. A sleek “Light Foot 500” was built for speed and style. Slimmed down with girder fork suspension, a compact headlamp, and a low-slung handlebar, this custom ride took six months to complete, costing Rs. 6.5 lakh (excluding the donor bike). It turns out that John Abraham was the first-ever client of Rajputana Customs.
Vijay’s got a knack for giving his creations some quirky but Indian names like Laado, Aghori, Rajmata, Jordaar, Kaala Paani, Gulail, Bitoo and more. These names aren’t just for looks; they’re his way of forming a tight bond with his craft.
Check out our top picks from Rajputana Customs—bikes decked out in chrome, leather, and engines that growl.

What are the latest warehouse automation technologies?
Gone are the days of manual labour and static, inefficient operations. Today, we stand at the forefront of a revolution driven by the latest warehouse automation technologies. These innovations reshape how businesses handle inventory, fulfil orders, and optimize supply chains.
From autonomous robots and artificial intelligence to the Internet of Things (IoT) and advanced data analytics, we'll explore how these technologies enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure seamless operations in modern warehouses.
1-Robotic Process Automation (RPA): RPA involves using software robots to automate repetitive tasks like data entry, order processing, and inventory tracking. The robots interact with various systems and applications to streamline workflows.
2-Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs): Robotic vehicles called AMRs navigate and operate in warehouses without fixed infrastructure, such as conveyor belts or tracks. They perform tasks like picking, packing, and transporting goods.
3-Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs): AGVs are similar to AMRs but typically follow fixed paths or routes guided by physical markers or magnetic tape. They are commonly used for material transport in warehouses and distribution centres.
4-Goods-to-Person Systems: This approach involves bringing the items to the workers rather than having workers travel throughout the warehouse to pick items. Automated systems retrieve and deliver goods to a workstation, reducing walking time and improving efficiency.
5-Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS): AS/RS systems use robotics to store and retrieve items from racks or shelves automatically. These systems can significantly increase storage density and optimize space utilization.
6-Collaborative Robots (Cobots): Cobots are designed to work alongside human workers. They can assist with tasks like picking, packing and sorting, enhancing efficiency and safety.
7-Warehouse Management Systems (WMS): While not a physical automation technology, modern WMS software uses advanced algorithms and AI to optimize inventory management, order fulfilment, and warehouse processes.
8-Vision Systems and Machine Learning: Computer vision technology combined with machine learning can be utilized for tasks such as object recognition, inventory movement tracking, and quality control.
9-IoT and Sensor Networks: Internet of Things (IoT) devices and sensors collect real-time data on inventory levels, environmental conditions, equipment health, and more, enabling better decision-making and predictive maintenance.
10-Voice and Wearable Technologies: Wearable devices and voice-guided picking systems can provide workers with real-time information and instructions, improving accuracy and efficiency.11-Automated Packaging Solutions: These systems automate the packaging process by selecting the appropriate box size, sealing packages, and applying labels, reducing manual labour and ensuring consistent packaging quality.

Charles II Special
VIDEO THE POWER and the PASSION
“It is a fantastic story and it is very different because it isn’t one of the great novels but is written from history. It’s about a fantastic, vivid period of time that was very decadent – almost like the Sixties. They drank heavily and there was a sexual revolution. Because the old Puritans had just been booted out, there was an enormous explosion of freedom – artistic freedom, musical freedom and sexual freedom, particularly at Court. ~RS
“ Charles II was many conflicting things. He was a weak man and he was a strong man; he was sentimental and he was tough; he was good and he was bad; he was quite moral and he was a naughty old bugger, So he was very complicated in the way that normal human beings are.... ~RS BBC press release
Working often 12-hour days and six-day weeks for three months meant that Sewell had very little time to step out of character. “It’s not that you actually become someone else, but you get comfortable in the skin. And the feeling of being Charles settled on me after the first couple of weeks and it never really went away, and that’s such a luxury. I felt very, very comfortable as Charles and that’s a lot to do with how immersed I was in the part.“ ~RS
FINAL 17 OCT CHARLES (bbc.co.uk)
Rufus plays a physical sovereign and viewers see him fencing his agile way across the small screen.“But I can’t really fence,” he confesses modestly. “It’s the magic of rehearsal and cameras. At drama school I did a little fencing and lots of jobs required it, so I’ve done bits and bobs before but, basically, you learn whatever is necessary forwhen the cameras are on. But complete the sequence and if someone were to say, ‘All right, carry on,’ you’d be crap!” BBC Press Release
And through all the great events of the time, like the Plague and the Great Fire of London, you have this man battling to hold on to his crown. Adrian Hodges has drawn an extraordinary portrait of an epoch and of a man.”

I'm really a bit between thinking this is petty, and genuine surprise that you didn't notice that the person unironically simping for a political figure would be fucking weird about politics. I mean, during your browsing of the RS memes, didn't you ever see their posts literally mouthing off at actual French people, and any people critical of those horny for the French revolution?
Like, they've literally written rants and gotten into fights about this, I mean. As if real French people needed a mouthy foreigner with no ties to France to explain French history to them while trying to ride a high horse, and while telling literal French people they're victims of propaganda and they're getting RS and the French revolution all wrong, just so they can continue nursing that stan-boner for a politician.
Honestly at this point I'm wondering why people are surprised when anyone who's an unironic fan of ANY politicians turns out to be a red flag waving weirdo with a real broken understanding of politics. If you're a fan of an actor, artist, musician, writer, that's one thing, but of politicians? Unironically? I don't think there's enough red dye or fabric in the world to showcase how big that red flag is.

Anil Ambani: Bringing a Revolution to the Telecom Industry
Anil Ambani’s name is etched in the annals of India’s industrial history as a visionary leader who transformed industries and redefined markets. One of his most remarkable achievements was his revolutionary contribution to the telecom industry, which reshaped the way Indians communicate and access information.
The Birth of Reliance Infocomm
In the early 2000s, India was witnessing a slow but steady adoption of mobile technology. However, high costs and limited accessibility meant that mobile communication was still a luxury for most Indians. Recognising this gap, Anil Ambani spearheaded the launch of Reliance Infocomm, under the Reliance Group’s banner, with the goal of making telecommunications affordable and accessible for all.
Reliance Infocomm entered the market with a bold vision: to connect every Indian. Anil Ambani’s mission was not just to build a business but to empower the masses with communication tools that could transform their lives.
Affordable Connectivity: The “Monsoon Hungama” Campaign
Anil Ambani’s groundbreaking move came in 2003 with the launch of the “Monsoon Hungama” campaign. Under this initiative, Reliance Infocomm introduced mobile phones for an initial payment of just Rs. 501. This disruptive pricing strategy brought mobile connectivity within the reach of millions of Indians, including those in rural and remote areas.
The campaign’s tagline, “Kar Lo Duniya Mutthi Mein” (“Hold the World in Your Hands”), captured the essence of Anil Ambani’s vision. The affordable phone, combined with low-cost call rates, revolutionised the market and empowered individuals to connect, communicate, and explore new opportunities.
Pioneering CDMA Technology
Reliance Infocomm didn’t stop at affordability; it aimed to deliver quality and coverage. The company adopted CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) technology, which provided better connectivity and call quality than the existing GSM networks. This technological advantage allowed Reliance Infocomm to expand its reach even in the most underserved regions of the country.
Under Anil Ambani’s leadership, the company invested heavily in infrastructure, creating a vast network of telecom towers and fibre-optic cables. This robust infrastructure laid the foundation for seamless connectivity across India.
Transforming Lives and Industries
The impact of Anil Ambani’s telecom revolution was far-reaching. Farmers in rural areas could access market information, small businesses could communicate with customers more efficiently, and students could explore educational resources online. The Rs. 501 phone became a tool of empowerment, bridging the digital divide and driving socio-economic progress.
Moreover, Reliance Infocomm’s disruptive strategies forced competitors to lower their prices and innovate, creating a more competitive and consumer-friendly market. Today, India boasts some of the world’s lowest mobile tariffs, a legacy that can be traced back to Anil Ambani’s visionary efforts.
Challenges and Legacy
While Reliance Infocomm’s aggressive pricing and expansion strategies posed financial challenges, the overall impact of Anil Ambani’s initiatives was undeniable. His vision not only transformed the telecom sector but also set the stage for India’s digital revolution.
Anil Ambani’s contributions to the telecom industry remain a testament to his innovative spirit and commitment to societal progress. By breaking barriers and championing inclusivity, he demonstrated that business success can go hand in hand with social impact.
Anil Ambani’s revolution in the telecom industry was not just about making phones affordable; it was about connecting a nation. His efforts paved the way for India’s emergence as a global telecommunications powerhouse, and his legacy continues to inspire innovation and transformation in the industry. Through Reliance Infocomm, Anil Ambani didn’t just change the way India communicated; he changed the way India dreamed
