I imagined this image yesterday.
It talks about Thomas Astruc "giving his answers" to the people who ask questions on him about his animated series (explanations, coherency, character development, alternate soluces, salting, plot, etc.).
Example:
Why haven't Chloé any redemption ?
Why Teen Bunnyx didn't seen the moment when Cerise stole the Butterfly miraculous (which fell in the water of the Crypt) via the Burrow ?
Why Bunnyx didn't noticed the disguised Cerise entering in the mansion while Bug Noire and Monarch fought each other ?
Why Timestalker, when she returned back to the Plage, didn't thought about reading the book BEFORE rejecting the akuma (that could make Cerise correct the Chronobug's vandalism) ?
How can Cerise be able to imprison and paralyze Nooroo (with finger snap) WITHOUT touching the Butterfly brooch (and without wearing it on her) ?
Why hasn't anybody created a healer sentimonster to healing Emilie and Nathalie from their magic illnesses (like in the Scarlet Lady comic) instead of seek the Ladybug and Cat miraculouses ?
Why Mei Shi the spirit of the Prodigous didn't felt the arson against his guardian's kung-fu school in what his master Wu Shifu (Fei's adoptive father) has been killed ?
Why none of any kwami hasn't felt the negative energy (and Nooroo's distress) caused by Cerise when the latter used the Butterfly miraculous for her auto-akumatization into Timestalker and Spectral Looter while Wayzz already felt the negative energy from Hawkmoth in Origins ?
In the Re-Verse, The Supreme is the master of the world but also the Guardian of his/her own Miracle Box. In there, there are the same miraculouses like the Quantic Miracle Box. And there are Ladybug, Cat, Butterfly and Peacock miraculouses. So, there is a Rabbit miraculous. Why the Supreme didn't thought to use the Rabbit miraculous for tracking Gabriel after the latter stole the Butterfly and Peacock jewels to him/her ?
In response, you can imagine (in your mind) TA can answers to you:

A man who fatally shot four people and wounded a fifth on a marijuana farm in Oklahoma has been sentenced to life in prison.
Chen Wu, 47, pleaded guilty Friday to the November 2022 shooting as part of a deal. Prosecutors said they thought about seeking the death penalty in the case.
Wu stormed into the farm on Nov. 20, 2022, and demanded $300,000 within 30 minutes, according to investigators. He threatened to kill everyone on site if he didnât get the money, police said.
A witness said Wu held the group hostage at gunpoint before eventually killing four people: Quirong Lin, Chen He Chun, Chen He Qiang and Fang Hui Lee. He also wounded a fifth person, Yi Fei Lin. Wu and all of the victims were Chinese citizens.
After the shooting, Wu fled to South Florida but authorities captured him there on Nov. 22. He was extradited back to Oklahoma and charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of assault, all of which he eventually pleaded guilty to.
Wu was involved with the marijuana farm in Hennessy, Okla., about 50 miles north of Oklahoma City. At an extradition hearing, he said he feared returning to Oklahoma and claimed the others involved had ties to organized crime.
The farm had obtained a license to grow marijuana, but it was operating illegally, according to authorities. Medical marijuana is legal in the state, but recreational weed remains outlawed.
âThis case should serve as a reminder of the dangers surrounding illegal marijuana activity in Oklahoma,â said Kingfisher County District Attorney Tommy Humphries.

You know what - Marinette should do what Gabriel asked and make sure Adrien only remembers âthe good timesâ he had with his father. Itâs only fair she honor the poor manâs last wish after everything he went through
And I want her to continue honoring them, as she and Adrien throw out all of Gabrielâs things from the manor - commissioned paintings, his suits, that godawful desk, everything.
I want her to do this as Adrien renames the company and does a complete rebrand of it. He has slides installed in the new break room and a moviehall and gives everyone full benefits. The employees love it.
I want her to do this as the alliance rings get destroyed and the materials recycled into other items like cars or computers.
I want her to do this as she takes down Lila/Chrysalis and finally frees Nooroo from this seemingly endless cycle of his holders being complete psychopaths. When heâs ready, she lets him pick his own holder (The choice of Chloe is...shocking to say the least, but they did say he could chose, and sheâs been doing pretty well with the therapist her new foster family set up for her)
I want her to do this when Fei comes to visit and when they finish, Master Wu gets a statue honoring his death, and his school reopened to the public
I want her to do this as she and Adrien finally reveal their identities to each other and laugh themselves to tears over never figuring it out for so long.
I want her to do this when she finally discovers a way to sever Adrien, Kagami, and Felix from their amoks and let them obtain true freedom.
I want her to do this as they each walk down the aisle during their wedding, thanking all the people that brought them this far. (Adrien was hesitant to invite Nathalie after cutting contact for so long, even with his mother assuring him, but he decided enough time had past for letting old wounds linger)
I want her to do this as she breaks down in tears at Alyaâs wedding, while Adrien congratulates his bro for finding his other half. They all laugh at the joke Nino makes at their toast about how grateful he is that the girl he almost dated locked him in a cage with his future wife.
I want her to do this at Kitty Sectionâs after party celebrating another success tour. Juleka proposes to Rose, Mylene announces her pregnancy, and they all congratulate Luka on his new solo album. (Jagged is there, but he makes his visit brief. He knows that this day isnât about him)
I want her to do this when Felix finally officially changes his name to Graham De Vanily and rebrand his fatherâs old company, taking a page out of his cousinâs book (he doesnât install any slides in the break room, much to Adrienâs disappointment)
I want her to do this at Kagamiâs press-conference as she announces the new direction Tsurugi Tech plans on heading towards after the merger with her husbandâs company. (She doesnât even bother extending an invite to Tomoe. The pleabargin she made allowed her to remain on the board of directors but the positionâs held in name-only mostly)
I want her to do this at their next class reunion, where they celebrate Kimâs recent gold medal and him finally realizing Ondine was proposing the last 4 months, and Bustier cries big wet tears at the bouquet they give her thanking her for the years of guidance.
I want her to do this at their anniversary, as their friends joke about how long it took them to get this far and congratulate her on her new fashion line and Adrien on the childrenâs charity heâs setting up with Mylene and Prince Aliâs help
I want her to do this when Alix returns to the timeline and sheâs yelling herself horse because no I donât care how cool you think it is, you canât bring a T-Rex into Paris Alix did you learn nothing from Jurassic Park?! (She lets her keep the T-Rex. Max and Markov help create a nice little enrichment center for it)
I want her to do this when Marc and Nathanielâs old comic receives an award and despite knowing how stupid it is, they all get wasted celebrating and end up hung over.
I want her to do this when Lila gets out of her court-mandated therapy and comes to her with an actual, sincere apology - oh and also the Kwami of Null (Donât worry, they got therapy too. It was very helpful)
I want her to do this as Zoe finally gets her first acting award and calls her fiance up on stage to celebrate. She thanks the entire film crew and her directors, and her friends for encouraging her choice to continue acting even after everything that happened.
I want her to do this as Chloe celebrates her new job and tries to make a huge speech, only to have to toss the whole thing out because Zoe and Nooroo kept crying and interrupting her. Sabrina jokes it was a âvery Chloe-likeâ speech and deserving of a toast. (Neither make reference to their parents at their individual events. Chloe cut contact with Audrey ages ago and Zoe refused to speak to Andre after he missed her graduation getting caught money laundering with one of his films, and only talks to her own father when unavoidable. Besides, these are their accomplishments to celebrate).
I want her to do this after the birth of her first child, and she and Adrien argue that yes, that is the middle name we want to give them. (Marinette asks again if this is what Adrien wants, and he says yes - because that name should be given to someone who will leave it a much kinder and better legacy)
I want her to do this during their 15th anniversary heroes day celebration, where she and everyone thank the city for their support and bravery during all the ups and downs they faced, and promises to never stop being their heroine.
I want her to do this at Fuâs funeral, where she thanks him for all the guidance he tried to give her, and apologizes for not keeping in touch more (Him and Marianne never officially wed, but they are buried next to each other with matching inscriptions. Su Han comes to pay his respects, and is surprisingly broken up over it, muttering about how he wonât miss âold chicken legsâ while clearly crying)
I want her to do this when she brings her kids over to the bakery and Tom is more than eager to teach them proper kneading techniques so they can âproperly inherit the storeâ while Sabine rolls her eyes.
I want her to do this when, while out with her oldest, Gabriel drags his boney ghost hide out from hell (because lets be honest, ainât no way Gabriel earned a ticket to the pearly gates with his rapsheet) to scream at her because âWhat have you done? This isnât what I asked for!â
I want her to do this when she replies âWhat ever do you mean? I did exactly what you ask.â
I want her to do this as he cries âYou havenât! Adrien was supposed to remember what a good father I tried to be! You were supposed to make sure that after the wish, he would only think of me as a hero - but instead, heâs completely forgotten about me, as has the rest of the city!â
I want her to do this as she look at him, eyes cold, and says âRight after you finished with your wish, I found Adrien as Ladybug. I told him about how I fought Monarch, and how I saw his father die after the battle. When he cried and asked what he should do now that his father was dead, I told him that he should try and remember all the good and fond memories you two had together.â
And I want her to pause, letting him stew in his rage before looking him straight in the eyes and saying âAnd when he did, we both realized there was nothing to remember. The reason Adrienâs âforgottenâ you is because even in this new world you built, you still prioritized your own selfish wants over your own child, and failed to leave a single good memory for him. If you son doesnât try to think about what a âgood fatherâ you were, then thatâs your own fault. â
I want her to lean in real close, unblinking, as she tells him - âAfter all, You canât remember something if it doesnât exist .â
I want her to step back and watch him seethe, completely unbothered as she gives him a polite smile âBut donât worry Gabriel - unlike you, I am a bug of my word. Iâll make sure Adrien continues to ârememberâ the good and kind man you were, just like you wanted.â and beam as her eyes sparkle with determination âAnd not just him - our children, and their children, and their children, and everyone afterward, theyâll only ârememberâ what a kind person Monsieur Agreste tried to be. Not a single person in the city - nay, the entire world, will ever even bother to think about the horrible villain you became in your last moments, because theyâll be too busy trying to remember when was the last time you tried being an actual human being.â
I want her to tell him goodbye and call for an exorcist to properly send him back to the underworld (One of the friends Fei made during her travels was visiting if she recalls. Apparently, theyâre used to dealing with the undead on the regular) as he rages, trying to bargain and manipulate her again. I want her to watch happily as heâs banished back down below and tells him to call in advance next time he wants to make a surprise visit. I want her to take her child back home and call Adrien, telling him that sheïżœïżœs feeling like pizza tonight.
I want her child (Emma Gabriel Dupain-Cheng) to look up at her and ask who that strange transparent man she was talking to earlier was.
I want her to look down on her with a smile and say âNo one worth remembering dear.â
And I want none of them to ever forget this.

Link to Miraculous master thread here, polishing my rewrite of Season 0 and the Magic System
I'm slowly beginning to get reinvested in this rewrite, so I wanted to update my Season 0 plans. I only will be explaining the changes relating to the previous posts linked above, so make sure you read them.
Paragraphs highlighted in red relate to the Miraculous, ones highlighted in green relate to the story/characters
The origins of the Miraculous remain the same, they're made by Gimme and given form by the mage guy in the comic. In the original drafts of this rewrite I was keeping the Chinese Miracle Box, but I've decided to remove every single one but Barkk. Having twelve Kwami in the story makes everything too crowded and takes away screen time from the OG's. So in the rewrites current version, only the main seven survived the Guardian Temple's destruction.
Bringing up Barkk, I ended up changing the name of her power from Adoration to Location. Barkk isn't one of the main seven Kwami Fu saved from the Temple's destruction, but instead who's Miraculous was recreated in modern day by Lila. (I tried so hard to give this power to Fluff you don't even know đđđ)
I'm not sure if I've ever mentioned this part, but in the Season 0 post I mentioned the mage who created the Miraculous passed down his magic to his children, and to theirs, and that was the new origins of the Order. Lila is a descendant of that mage, meaning she can both read Miraculous texts and create new Kwami.
Shown in the Magic System post, I gave a rundown through each Kwami's power, but I'm feeling like the way I wrote them down was too intricate and boring, so here is the updated definitions:
Tikki - Creation - Can create anything
Plagg - Destruction - Can destroy anything
Nooroo - Transmission - Can send anything
Wayzz - Protection - Can protect anything
Trixx - Perception - Can project anything
Pollen - Action - Can move anything
Duusu - Emotion - Can change anything
Barkk - Location - Can track anything
In this updated version, any power the user can think of that relates to the Kwami's concept, they can have that power. The catch is that the user can only use that one power forever. Using Tikki as an example, you could manifest the power of Creation as creating any object, or you could make little minions, or maybe you could fix damaged objects.
For the sake of the plot, these powers can't infringe on another active Kwami's magic, so you can't manifest the powers as to reveal a users identity (mostly due to Quantum masking), nor could you nullify or prevent another's power.
The Prodigious in my rewrite stays the same, the Guardians wanted to see if they could make Miraculous on their own and created a highly volatile and unsafe object, so they sealed it away with the help of the Mages and Gimmie. The Prodigious allows the user to transform into eight different animals correlating with different values. if you're motivated by the virtue you can transform safely, but if not, you will get your life force drained (kinda like what happened to Gabriel when he didn't feed his Kwami's) and die horrifically or something.
Since the Dragon Kwami doesn't exist anymore, I'm thinking of giving the Prodigious to Kagami instead of Fei Wu, this gives me an excuse to give Tomoe an actual motive, that in return of kick starting Gabriel's fame, he'll give her the Prodigious for power. And then we can repeat mirror the Adrien/Cat Noir, Gabriel/Hawkmoth dynamic with Kagami and Tomoe.
Kagami isn't an amok anymore, but Adrien still is. Felix and his whole side of the family have been cut, and Emilie is a non-royal, only child now. Alike my Season 0 rewrite, Fu gave Marianne the Butterfly Miraculous to help her fight during Frances occupation, never got it back because he ran off as soon as he heard of Marianne's engagement, X years passed and she gave birth to Gabi Grassette, and his dad gave him the Butterfly Miraculous after she died.
Because I like to give characters unnecessary connections; Gabriel, Natalie and Emilie all attended Francoise Dupont as children, and the old Grassette family home is the now the Boulangerie Patisserie.
Atm I've left character backstories on hold, however since I've pretty much done an yet-to-be-updated Marinette's, maybe I'll post that soon. I'm also trying to figure out the villain order, I'll be shifting and rewriting villains from different seasons into the first one, but that's all for a later date. Sorry for the break, if you have any questions I'm free to ask :P

Another adorable Liang Liang & Fei Fei interaction, on a beautiful snowy evening in Jingzhou, while Liu Bei is away in Eastern Wu:
Zhuge Liang, working late into a snowy night, in his cozy office. Outside, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei approach.
Guan Yu: It's already late in the night, why don't we come back tomorrow?
Fei Fei: No! I can't sleep until I get an answer :(((
Liang Liang hears them come in and gestures silently for them to sit down. He looks at their worried expressions and tense body language, and smiles knowingly. Outside, the wind and snow paint a cold wintry picture, but inside the three of them are huddled around a cozy coal stove, under the warm glow of an oil lamp.
Fei Fei: Big brother has been gone for days! Why haven't we heard anything from him? :(((
Liang Liang: What do you think?
Fei Fei: Big brother must be having so much fun with his charming new wife that he's forgotten all about us :(((
Guan Yu: But big brother isn't the kind of person to indulge in excess pleasure
Liang Liang: I think Yunchang is right. Zhugong has been with us through thick and thin. After all the effort we've put into getting Jing Zhou, he would not give this all up.
Fei Fei, still worried: But even heroes are tempted by beauty
Guan Yu: Junshi, why not send us to bring him back?
Liang Liang, grinning with confidence: I reckon Zhugong will not come back at the end of this year, but will return to us at the beginning of the new year
Fei Fei, pacing around excitedly: If big brother doesn't return to Jingzhou, then Junshi, I will come asking you for him!
Zhuge Liang, amused by Fei Fei's adorableness: It's a deal~

Miraculous World - Shanghai
Now you may note, this one's a little different than usual, it's less of a pilot special and more of a 'episode Zero'
a preview of what's to come
We open on an aether, a magic type void.Â
There are gentle sparks of light, not quite stars, pink in color. And the gentle, sweet trilling voice of a Kwami drifts through the aether.Â
âDo you know that feeling, when youâve only just awoken? When you havenât opened your eyes yet and the world around you is soft? When you know you could just roll over and curl up deeper into your bed and fall right back asleep? That feeling that doesnât feel like it truly has a name? That blend of comfort and serenity and sleep and contentment?â
Those pink sparks coalesced together until they were in the rough approximation of a Kwami, one with big ears and wings. âThatâs me with you as you drift between sleeping and wake. I am called Tranqii in this era. I am the embodiment of sleep.â
Tranqii in this light approximation remains curled up and clearly at peace. âI knew there were others like me-â there are all around Tranqii explosions of sparks in different colors, red and green and blue and purple and yellow and a million more, one for every Kwami weâve ever seen and then more. None of them seemed to disturb Tranqii in their slumber. âI knew they were all having fun, living their lives in the physical. Enjoying being awake. But I'd never really felt the urge to join them.â
But then thereâs a flicker, purple sparks turning into a deep violet and a similar experience happening to blue sparks. And Tranqii opens their eyes when light brown sparks erupt in front of their faceÂ
The scene then rapidly shifts to a room we saw only very briefly in the Shanghai special oh so long ago, a young chinese woman with her hair in a ponytail is huffing and fussing over a wristband she was trying to make JUST right. And over her shoulder is a Korean woman with a round face. A-Fei and Yun Eun-Ji look over the work that A-Fei had settled on, A-Fei leans over to consult the large tome of Miraculous that was resting nearby once again, and tranqiiâs voice came out dubbed over the scene.
âBut then, even the soundest sleepers are awoken when they are truly needed.â
Cue Intro, rather than the more simple miraculous world theme weâre instead greeted by an edgier âBatman beyondâ vibe type intro, of Yun Eun-Ji, A-Fei, and Sun Min standing against unrelenting odds, notable faces of the old order we actually know are seen, Wu Lian is seen with the scorpion Medallion along her neck, and Zhao Kai is spotted, much more serious than we used to see him, and running along with them is a familiar face of a certain New Old Order Member that got away. But the intro ends on the three young heroes standing atop the temple they hold downâs roof, gazing out at Shanghai, which they seem to be at the outskirts of, able to see the city but not fully interact with it.Â
But thatâs just the intro, when we fully return back to the story we return to A-Fei talking with her parents, a conspicuous bracelet cuff around her wrist.Â
â-I just think it would be good for me to spend some time away from home.â She reasoned, but her mother sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose. âSweetheart, youâre always proposing these things and never following through! I just worry weâre going to force some poor monks to escort you back home because you lost your nerve studying under them âfor practical college creditââ She sighed and folded her arms, leaning against the counter sheâd been chopping vegetables on.Â
âFrankly, it sounds more like youâre doing this so you can avoid helping me out at dinner.â A Fei sighed, from where she was currently sat peeling carrots, her mother continued to look skeptical.Â
âIâm⊠I'm not doing it alone, mother. Iâm going to have other students there with me.â
âAnd Who might those students be?â
âWell thereâs this Korean Girl, her namesâ Yun Eun-Ji, and thereâs Sun Min heâs-â
âA boy?â Her mother turned sharply to her and A-Fei groans. âAnd What, Iâm guessing youâll all be in the same room too? And not to question it?â
âMother, I won't be trying to SLEEP with him!â A-Fei shrilled, scandalized. But her mother scoffs, unaffected by her denial.
âWhat about him? And this Korean girl as well? Even if heâs not after you, youâre MUCH too young to be finding a sock laying next to your door.â âOh Heavens aboveâŠâ A-Fei sighs, letting her carrot fall into the pile of skins for a moment before reaching back in to retrieve it. âMother, if you canât trust me on my own then why are you letting me go to college at all?â That gives her mother pause, and A-Fei takes the opportunity.Â
âLook, give me just this weekend, just this weekend to test things out, and weâll see what happens. If you think I'll flake youâll be able to tell by Monday. And if I wonât thenâŠ?â
Her mother thinks for a moment, and sighs.Â
âFine. the weekend. But youâd better actually DO the work they tell you do. Listen to the lessons they teach. And æç愳ć©?â She reaches over to gently cup A-feiâs cheek-
Before pulling her hand into a playful pinch to it. âYour mother will KNOW if you try to cheat your way out of doing any work, Lazy girl.â A-Fei whines and squirms out of her motherâs grasp, their relationship is a little strained, but still loving it would seem.Â
We follow A-Fei for a little longer, she finishes setting up lunch with her mother, some really tasty looking bowls of noodles (insert anime food joke here) and the family table is lively as everyone chatters about the goings on of the world. Cousin Xiuying went to Japan recently. And she didnât stop over on a plane layover to say hi? The comings and goings of average family life, and other such trivial but hearty things. Until theyâre finished and one of A-Feiâs friends we saw briefly back in the Shanghai special rolls up. And Sheâs just barely able to get out of doing the dishes since Sheâd helped cook, saddling her Dad with them instead as she gets to roll off. Her mother shouting behind her that sheâd better be back before dinner and sheâs able to ride off on the back of one of her friendsâ bike. From here we see a bit more of the life of A-Fei, how her friends arenât any particular niche, they hang out at the arcade and the skate park with equal ease. One boy, now dubbed as Yuan Zhong, is a part time lion dancer for parades and such, and hates it since heâs always the butt of the lion. Another (known to be Liang Jiao) delivers pharmaceuticals for his familyâs home remedies business, and the third (Xie Kang) is unemployed, and the designated rich boy of the group (despite being barely upper middle class) as he buys bubble tea for everyone. The boys comment that itâs been awhile since sheâs hung out with them, sheâs been âso preoccupiedâ with her âprojectâ
A-Fei brushes it off, but then Yuan leans in and asks if it has anything to do with that cute girl sheâs been hanging around lately. Xie adding on that the boy was cuter, and maybe she could hook them up? A-Fei rolls her eyes and insults the lot of them for being gross.
âTheyâre just people I'm working on the same project with, you bunch of freaksâŠâ
âLot of effort to put into project partners-â Liang Jiao brings up, pulling out his phone and idly tapping on it. âDidnât you guys go out of town for something last year? Thatâs what we were covering for you for, right?â
âHey yeah itâs been like a year hasnât it?!â Yuan brings up, scandalized. âAnd we still havenât officially MET them?! FeiFei this is OUTRAGEOUS.â
âYou guys wouldnât even LIKE each other! Sun Min is Soooo boring! And Yun Eun-jiâs a jerk anyway!â She scoffed. And the boys all look unimpressed at her.Â
âSounds like something someone who doesnât want us to know about her extremely cool friends would say.â Xie huffs and looks away in upset.Â
A-Fei sighs, but just as she does so her phone chimes, she looks down at it and lets out a surprised âeep!â âSorry guys, I think I have to go!â âYeah yeah, back to that âprojectâ weâre not even allowed to know what it is.â
âI Signed an NDA Yuan!â Yuan is unmoved.
But A-Fei sighs and looks around for a moment. âFine- Iâll⊠Iâll see if I can arrange something for all of us to do so you can meet them okay?â
The three boys all look between each other before as one, nodding. And A-fei sighs. âAlright. Thanks.â
But just like that she turned and ran off.Â
âOh sheâs definitely âwithâ one of them.â
âNo doubt, no doubt.â
But we clip back to A-Fei quickly, the girl ducking into an alley and opening her jacket to reveal for the first time, Tranqii. Asleep in a pocket in the inside of her jacket and snoring blissfully.Â
âTranqii, itâs time to wake up.â
âMmmm no.â the Kwami grunted, turning over in the pocket so they werenât facing her. A-Fei sighs and pulls from her bag a pouch happily labeled âhealth friendly roasted cricketsâ
She shook them around a little and Tranqii turns, squinted big black eyes at the bag of crickets, then back at her. âIâm starting to think you might play dirtyâŠâ the little bat huffed, and A-Fei laughed.
âTranqii, Transform me!â
We watch A-Fei dart across the rooftops of Shanghai, a little clumsier than expected, but in her defense, sheâs very new at this. Every so often she hits a fire escape and has to scramble up to avoid falling down the side of the building, people inside nearly seeing her before she darts out of the way.Â
Sheâs very much keeping her presence a secret, not just her identity. And for a time all it seems sheâs doing is simply enjoying the world around her. She seems to be delighting in it. Eventually she stops at a random rooftop, sighing and leaning back in position slightly. Here we get the best look at her current uniform, itâs not very different at all compared to the one we saw when she made her first appearance, just a few small details being changed, such as the pink accent color being in some different places but otherwise unchanged. The least interesting take of anyone so far.Â
But as sheâs simply enjoying the scenery, one of the fake bat ears on her head twitches, and sure enough as seen from behind her a shadowy figure is seen crouching low in the shade of the roof entrance. A-Fei doesnât seem to notice at first, the figure creeps closer and closer, dropping low as if to pounce
Without warning we cut to the figureâs POV, slowly creeping closer and closer, trying very hard to not make a sound, when an orange glove seems about to reach out to grab her and-
âDonât even try it.â she turns her head and makes eye contact, where we switch back to 3rd person camera.Â
Sun Min stumbles back in surprise, but laughs, heâs transformed much like her, but his costume is much different than we saw him last, much more black than before, as if he were trying to create a sort of âstealth modeâ with his look.Â
âYouâre a real pain in my neck arenât you Mister Lion?â
Sun Min laughed and plopped down beside her. âYou know we have like âhero namesâ right?â
âYou do in Paris, but whatâs the point in having them here? NORMAL criminals donât know who we even are, why should we be concerned about those âOld Orderâ clowns?â âBecause you just fought in a war with them like a year ago and you nearly died several times?â Sun Min laughed as if it was all a joke, A-Fei didnât laugh back, she just looked perturbed. She huffed and puffed and Sun Min sighed. âLook⊠Yun Eun-Ji and I only like, JUST finished making sure there werenât any more magical booby traps on the old temple, but now that theyâve taken some time to lay low this is the EXACT sort of time where my old masters would try to pull something. Because they know we wonât expect it. Or if we do then we wonât think theyâll do it NOW.â He sighed.
âAnd thatâs why weâre moving my training up?â
âAnd thatâs why weâre moving your training up.â
She sighed and leaned forward a bit, bracing her chin on her arm, and arm on her knee. âAnd I donât suppose that you have anything in your spellbooks that can make my family and friends STOP asking questions because people are starting to grow sick of me hiding things and flaking out at everything, my mother almost didnât let me sign off on this at all because she thinks I drop things willy-nilly nowâŠ!â
Sun Min sighed. âIâll⊠Iâll talk to her.â But A-Fei turned back to him, expression suddenly grave. âWhat?â
âBut donât like- I was being facetious, donât actually do anything to my momâs brain.â Sun Min laughed and was clearly more at ease than before.Â
âI wonât do any magic that will mess with your mothers faculties or subvert her free will. Okay?â
A-Fei sighs. âOkay.â But like that, they were both standing, stretching, and she took out her bolos, and he took out his knuckle dusters and they began training.Â
What follows is a simple sort of sparring scene where Sin Min clearly has A-Fei outpaced and outclassed, but theyâre both clearly still having fun, laughing and lightly shoving and all that good stuff.Â
As theyâre both training and enjoying themselves, thereâs another set of eyes on the two of them. But these ones remain in the shadows until-
A teal ninetails whips out and catches Sun Minâs leg, tripping him up at the exact right time for A-Fei to land a blow to the solar plexus.
âAlways expect the unexpected!â A cheerful voice responds, and a-Fei turns and grins when she spots the girl.Â
âYun Eun-Ji!â She chirped darting over and giving the girl a hug. âI was worried I'd have to wait a WHOLE nother week to see you!â
âSuch a tragedy!â The octopus wielder laughed as She let go of her ninetails and let the lion wielder struggle in it for a little longer. âSo what did your mother say about staying at the temple with us?â
âShe said sheâd give it the weekend and see if I'm full of shit or not.â Yun Eun-Ji narrowed her eyes at her, oddly serious for a moment.Â
âAre you?â
A-Fei looks shocked for a moment, before laughing and pushing her arm. Yun Eun ji Laughs too and the tension is broken.Â
âYouâre such a jerk!â
âSo are you!â They simply shove each other back and forth a few more times before Sun Min pops his head back up and rolls his eyes very dramatically.
âCome on ladies, let's not make a scene in front of the lion. A-Fei did you want to see what weâve been up to in the temple or what?â
A-Fei looks over, surprised, and sure enough one rooftop race later theyâve arrived far out of town, to the more grassy surroundings.Â
The kids have all detransformed, and roll up on a motorcycle driven by Sun Min, the other two girls piled onto the back, and they roll up to an otherwise perfectly normal looking buddhist temple, albeit one that looked like it had been abandoned for some time.Â
And as we pull up on the kids they continue a conversation. âWell the ACTUAL buddhists left ages ago once a big enough city had popped up right next to their damn temple, So for centuries it was exclusively an Order of Miracles Temple putting on the facade of Buddhism.â He takes off his helmet and is notably the only one wearing one, parking his bike and hanging his helmet on the handlebars.Â
âAnd as we know other than the ânot getting involved with the world around usâ part there wasnât actually much in common between the two.âÂ
âYeah the edifice complex of âweâre better than these whimps that didnât do thisâ thing runs DEEP.â Yun Eun-ji adds on. ââS part of why they stayed in Shanghai, literally JUST so it could be more of a practice to look down on people than they were before.â
âOr at least thatâs how Yun Eun-Ji interpreted the stories.â
âAnd I was RIGHTâ
âBeing right about our teachers being screwball crazy and being right about every elder in the order ever being sociopathic god complex loonies are two very different things.â
But Sun Min throws open the doors, and, well⊠the place looks like an abandoned buddhist temple.Â
Except for when Sun Min leans over on the inside of the gate and presses a sigil of the old order on the wall. Wherein the magic of the place LIGHTS the whole temple up, Itâs a beautiful display of color and light as they dance about the realm before them. A-Fei gasps.
âNo way⊠this is AMAZING!â
âLess amazing when itâs five am and the sun hasnât risen yet and that's the only reason the lanterns are onâŠâ Sun Min comments and Yun Eun-Ji elbows him in the gut.Â
A-Fei looks nervous then. âWeâre not⊠actually gonna wake up at fiveâŠ?â
âOf course not, that was sleep deprivation to rob us of our common sense. Weâll start at Six.â
A-Fei looks at the two of them, unsure if she should be relieved or not.
For a time we see a bit more training, Yun Eun-Ji and Sun Min really putting A-Fei through the paces, transformed for a while, and then A-Feiâs transformation drops with Tranqii yawning and saying theyâre tired. They crunch down happily on their crickets as they watch A-Fei get her butt kicked.
We hear their voiceover once more.
âItâs an odd thing, living in the physical. There are many good things, like crickets. But bad things, like being tired. ButâŠâÂ
A-Fei looked back at them for a moment and smiled, waving, before getting a boot to the face. âItâs good, I think.â
But as we begin to pan out, we see shadows in the background, hiding in the trees, and in the passing of a leaf across the screen, theyâre gone.Â
âI think my time in the physical world will be a very interesting one indeed.â

Drama rec masterlist | Drama rant thread (beware of spoilers)
This had been showing up on my Netflix constantly, and was then recommended to me, so I decided to give it a go - and I'm so glad I did!
I will be the first to admit that Chinese dramas (specifically historical ones) usually lose me at some point, as I have trouble following all the political intrigue and the way they use conversation more than action at times. It's a genre style that is not for me, and that's okay. I can still usually enjoy the drama despite not understanding everything 100%.
And while this drama did have that, since it's a large part of the historical genre overall, I enjoyed watching this so much. Were there parts I didn't fully understand? Of course, but I would watch this again in the future for sure.
I loved Xue Fangfei so so much - she's intelligent, kind and strong, and not afraid to do what needs to be done, though never at the cost of someone other than herself. Even with all this, she is not perfect, and that makes me love her even more. She makes mistakes, admits when she was wrong, and is not afraid to ask for help when she knows she is not strong enough on her own.
Her story is so heartbreaking that I found myself crying several times throughout the drama. She endures so much and yet still remains kind and compassionate.
The plot is amazing, the romance is even better, and the characters are all so nuanced that they even make you sympathize with the bad guys. I loved it!

Let's Talk: Guan Yu
One of the reasons I don't go to reddit is because I don't have to: there's always someone willing to put my words in my mouth for me, no effort required on my part.
So, let's set the record straight regarding my opinions of Guan Yu as of 5/26/2023, after many, many years of reading and writing.
The historical Guan Yu, like everyone in his particular sphere, always suffers by comparison to his fictional counterpart and that's not really his fault. It doesn't help that his fictitious versions also tend to be insufferable. This leads to a bad combination of things. An irritating fictional version gave me a negative predisposition towards Guan Yu, and the fact that the real man didn't live up to the exploits of the legendary one (because of course he didn't), led me to judge him more harshly than I would have someone else. If you've entered into the 3K community through any kind of media (which is probably just about everyone speaking English), you've likely experienced it yourself with one of these people.
But it's been a long time. I've spent the last several years reading and writing. I've studied other time periods and other cultures, gaining a broader perspective and more grounded expectations.
All of that said, I still don't have a very high opinion of Guan Yu. Before I get into my criticisms, though, it's important for me to give him what credit he is due, because he isn't without achievements. I've dismissed some of these in the past, downplaying their significance or casting doubt on their veracity, and in most cases that was unwarranted.
What's Good?
What's good about Guan Yu? Let's start with the obvious he absolutely was very good in a fight. He was a brave and strong warrior who never shirked from danger. Breaking ranks to kill Yan Liang is the highlight of his feats, but his strength was praised even by his enemies in Wei and Wu. I've downplayed some of his martial achievements in the past and it's just not good practice to disregard the assessments of his contemporaries.
His enemies feared him. There are numerous examples of this. Sun Quan, Lu Meng, and most of their advisers feared what an ambitious Guan Yu could do with control of the Great River. Commanders on the front lines in Jing feared what could happen if he came within striking distance of the capital. While I've always maintained that anyone in such a powerful strategic fulcrum would have been equally feared, that's something that by its nature cannot be proven; and doesn't change the fact that it was Guan Yu who was there and Guan Yu they feared.
He was also a man of excellent conduct (this is separate from his abrasive personality). As a subordinate officer he was always diligent, and he was always personally well-behaved. This is illustrated well by the manner in which he left Cao Cao to return to Liu Bei. He waited until Cao Cao's battle with Yuan Shao was done (rather than deserting in the middle) and refused to accept additional gifts because he did not intend to stay. Such behavior is a particular contrast to his colleague Zhang Fei.
Guan Yu was also a scholar. He could recite portions from one of the Classics from memory. I haven't given him credit for that in the past. If I'm going to praise guys like Li Dian and Huang Gai for dabbling in the literary arts, I should praise Guan Yu for it too.
What's Bad?
Guan Yu was personally skilled in the military arts, but I don't think that translated to being a good commander. He had some bright spots during his campaigns but ultimately I regard them all as failures. His efforts during the Jing Offensive feature his greatest successes but also a number of setbacks. Then he lost a substantial parcel of Liu Bei's territory during the Jingdong Campaign. And, of course, his efforts to capture Fan and Xiangyang during the Jingxi Campaigns ended in such abysmal failure that Liu Bei lost half his country.
Whether you want to blame these failures on Guan Yu's own errors (as I do) or circumstances beyond his control ("he couldn't have known XYZ"), the result is still failure. His efforts to capture the Xiangyang region, in particular, were all for nothing.
Just as bad (and related to those failures) is the fact that Guan Yu's behavior (personally and militarily) angered and alienated Sun Quan and his envoys. The relationship between Liu Bei and Sun Quan was always shaky and Guan Yu made the situation considerably worse. Those who had to deal with him cited obscene arrogance as his most abrasive trait.
He also badly alienated his own subordinates. They defected as soon as they had the opportunity, in significant enough numbers that the loyalists were unable to mount any effective resistance to Lu Meng's army. His behavior turned both allies and subordinates against him and led to a massive loss in territory from which Liu Bei was unable to recover.
What's Ugly?
I've had some different takes on the "arrow story" over the years.
YÇ was once by a stray arrow hit, pierced in his left arm. Later though the wound healed, whenever it was cloudy and raining, the bone would be in pain. The physician said: âThe arrow head had poison, and the poison has entered the bone. The arm wound must be reopened to scrape the bone and remove the poison, and only after will the pain be removed and that is all.â YÇ immediately extended his arm and ordered the physician to cut it. At the time YÇ had also invited his officers to meet to drink and feast. The arm blood flowed, filling a pan, but YÇ cut his meat and drank his liquor, talking and laughing as usual.
It's very difficult to credit the story as written. If you are capable of feeling pain, you're going to. You can take this as an indication that Guan Yu had some kind of nerve condition where he couldn't feel pain. You can take it as a sort of folktale told by his contemporaries to emphasize strength and endurance he actually did possess, even if the story itself isn't necessarily true. There are useful ways to read this but I have difficulty taking it literally, at face value.
Also, everything with Lady Du and Qin Yilu is weird.
That Doesn't Sound So Bad
No, it's really not.
He was a mostly unsuccessful commander and a counterproductive diplomat. His professional failures caused his state irreparable harm. But at least he had many redeeming personal qualities. He was an intellectual, a man of good conduct who possessed personal valor that intimidated his foes. Had he been kept on a shorter leash, perhaps his career would have flourished more.
You know who summarized it well? Chen Shou.
GuÄn YÇ and ZhÄng FÄi both were praised as a match for ten thousand men, were the eraâs tiger ministers. YÇ repaid with service to Excellency CĂĄo, FÄi righteously released YĂĄn YĂĄn, both having a state eliteâs manner. However YÇ was stubborn and self boastful, FÄi was violent and without kindness; by shortcomings obtaining destruction, is a constantly repeated principle.
That's pretty much how I feel at this point. Guan Yu had some qualities worth praising and it's a disservice to ignore those. But they weren't enough to save him from his own destruction. His strengths brought him high but they weren't enough to keep him from falling.

MLB Ă FIRST KILL AU
It was exactly 1:20 am when I start writing this, so most of it might just be sleep deprivation, but I want to share it
So I decided to rewatch First Kill (you know, the lesbian vampire/vampire hunter series that Netflix canceled) for no reason at all, and since my addiction to Miraculosa had also returned, I began to wonder... SO!
Spoiler warning
Possible triggers(?): Mention of blood, mention of murder
Our protagonists
Marinette Dupain-Cheng: Our sweet, gentle vampire who has never killed anyone or drunk blood directly from a person. She's just turned 16 and her family was pressuring her to finally kill someone. But how could someone who has lived among humans all her life kill one just to feed? Not her. Not until she had to defend the girl she liked.
Kagami Tsurugi: The youngest daughter of a famous hunting family. After failing in her first hunt, she gets a new chance after discovering a clan of vampires in the city; if she killed one of them, she would win her mother and clan's approval. But that vampire was so sweet, so innocent, so... Oh, no, she'd developed feelings for her!
The Dupain-Cheng's, the most respected family among vampires
Sabine: The matriarch, future protector of the Serpent and, unfortunately, her mother's dismay.
Tom: The man Sabine turned into a vampire so they could be together for eternity
Socqueline: The protective big sister, she seems harmless until she has to be fed
Bridgette: Socqueline's "evil" twin, a misunderstood soul who disappeared years ago
The Tsurugi's, an ancient lineage of hunters
Tomoe: The strict mother. She had a difficult past after being blinded by a monster, but she rebuilt herself and now has a family to protect
Wu Shifu (I'll think of a name for him later): The honorable man who was promised in marriage to Tomoe after the "incident"
Longg: Wu's son from his first marriage, a calm boy. The Tsurugi clan has turned its back on him, but he doesn't care
Fei: The adopted daughter, it took a while for the Tsurugi clan to accept her, but now she's the heir and a cool older sister
Other characters
Felix Graham de Vanille: A witch involved with Bridgette, he plans something for his partner's hometown
Adrien Agreste: Marinette's best friend. He has a complicated relationship with an older student, which none of his friends approve of
The two are related, but do not know each other
Alya: Also Marinette's best friend, I don't know what to do with her, but she's here
Lila Rossi: She dies and comes back as a zombie and dies again
Chloe: Kagami's ex. She is a little more tolerable, although she still uses her parents' high status as hunters
Andre e Audrey: They show up to die
Nino: One of Marinette's few vampire friends. He should only appear once
The plot
Kagami and her family have just moved to this town in the French countryside. In the past, the town was overrun by monsters, but none have been seen for years thanks to the hunters. Now they're back, and the Tsurugis have to find out why.
There's this strange girl who stares at Kagami at school and gets into accidents when Kagami is around. This behavior makes Kagami suspicious of her, so she starts staring back.
Marinette finally finds the courage to approach her and invites her to a party at Lila's house. Her perfume has a distinctive smell that makes Kagami discover that Marinette is a vampire.
At the party, they sit alone for a while, talking, until they notice their faces coming closer. For some reason, Kagami's scent is strangely attractive and, without thinking, Marinette bites her neck, which causes Kagami to react and pull out a silver knife and strike Marinette's heart. Kagami runs away thinking she had killed her.
She didn't.
I could explain more and go into a whole alternative world, but I really need to sleep now. This will probably have a part 2 next time I can't sleep on time.

Iâm actually thinking about how Zhuge Liang screwed up. His first campaign against Wei ends in failure after Ma Su fucks it all up, then another campaign fails because some guy delivered supplies 10 days late after going on a drunk and he betrays Shu after being punished for it (though our boy was convinced to just give him 80 lashes, originally the drunk was to be executed), then thereâs one who messed up with the supplies and had Zhuge Liang return by saying Wu was attacking to cover up his mistake. He was stripped of his rank, but not executed. And then thereâs Wei Yan, who eventually rebels against Zhuge Liang after a previous fuck up that was blamed on a subordinate (Said subordinate was asked what happened, and implicated Wei Yan. This was seen as him shifting the blame).
Earlier in the novel, Zhang Fei made some screwups that would foreshadow how he died while Guan Yu was made to sign a pledge to capture Cao Cao under the penalty of death. Liu Bei always forgave them, saying they could redeem themselves through later actions. But, really, part of Liu Beiâs thing was how his benevolence would cause him to not act or take opportunities presented if they would be seen as lacking virtue. It feels like Zhuge Liang, during the expeditions, fell into the same issue. He didnât enforce discipline like he should have and the lack of discipline among Shuâs roster is what ultimately does him in.
Zhuge Liang was the one who pushed Shu to keep attacking Wei, even when things were at relative peace between the three kingdoms. Sure, the book makes out that Shu was the legitimate successor to the Han, but that only goes so far. These campaigns cost Shu a lot of men and resources, failing time after time because of the aforementioned lack of discipline. Zhuge Liang tried to fix this after Ma Su, but he ultimately failed to do so which cost Shu greatly. Yet he was always pushing to go back to fighting Wei, priortizing them over taking back land from Wu, all because of his promise to Liu Bei. And while this is happening, Shuâs government is falling into the same corrupt ways that led to the fall of the Han yet Zhuge Liang works himself to death going to war. He was putting his own personal promise to Liu Bei above the well-being of the state despite his failures, and thatâs why the Will of Heaven rejected him imo.
But it also makes out that leadership is a tightrope act. Being benevolent and forgiving leads to people supporting you, but on the other hand being too lenient results in people stepping out of line. Itâs simply not enough to be virtuous and the people will follow your example, you must make sure the law is upheld otherwise the law holds no meaning. It doesnât mean using the law to enforce your will, as Confucianism says thatâs a bad thing, but to maintain order. Shu didnât maintain order, and as a result people lost their virtue.
The translation I have is said to give the audience the understanding of the novel a native Chinese would have, but sometimes I canât help but feel Iâm not quite on the same page as them. I donât see Zhuge Liang as this perfect example of what a minister should be, but as a flawed individual who did his best. And, of course, thereâs also the real person to take into account.

Chapter 1-10 Like Awakening From a Dream (ćŠć€ąćé)
Chapter 1-9
.
.
.
After returning to the palace that day, I finally saw Fei Liang. She hugged me and cried for a long time, and I had to comfort her for a while before her tears finally stopped.
Afterwards, I kept searching for the book "Youming Guangji," but Fei Liang said it was listed as a banned book and was no longer available for purchase.
On the fourth morning, I heard that Gu Zhao had captured someone from the Hundred Knowledge Pavilion.
-
I personally went to the General's Mansion. As soon as I got off the carriage, a guard greeted me.
Guard: Greetings, Princess. The General has been expecting you for a while. Please follow me.
I couldn't help but be surprised. Gu Zhao knew I was coming?
-
I followed the guard all the way to the inner courtyard. When Gu Zhao saw me, he wasn't surprised at all and dismissed the guard with a wave of his hand.
Princess: You were waiting for me?
Gu Zhao: With the Princess's way of doing things, knowing that I captured someone from the Hundred Knowledge Pavilion, you would definitely come to seek clarification.
Princess: General Gu is so composed. Is it because you have the General's backing, or do you think I pose no threat to you at all?
Gu Zhao: What makes the Princess say that? I'm just doing my duty.
Princess: Then if I want to personally interrogate them, would General Gu give me that courtesy?
Gu Zhao looked at me for a long time, then a playful smile appeared on his face.
Gu Zhao: Of course, I will obey.
-
I followed Gu Zhao to the dungeon located deep within the mansion.
However, there were no instruments of torture, no dying prisoners. The place was completely empty, not a single person in sight.
Gu Zhao looked at me, amused by my confusion.
Gu Zhao: Hasn't the Princess figured it out yet? The Hundred Knowledge Pavilion isn't important, and whether or not we get any clues from them doesn't matter either.
Gu Zhao: The confessions have already been written. All we need is to grab a few random prisoners, have them put their fingerprints on it, and we can close the case.
Princess: The people you captured that night...
Gu Zhao: It seems the Princess still doesn't understand the General's way of doing things. The General always...
Gu Zhao: Leaves no loose ends.
Princess: ...! You mean, they're already...
Princess: But you... why did you bring me here?
Gu Zhao: The Princess is so intelligent. What do you think my intentions are?
Princess: The night I returned to Shengning, Wu Hai could have easily killed me, but he didn't.
Princess: At first, I thought you were just worried about not being able to explain to Father. But you were right, I'm not that important to Father, he wouldn't make a big fuss over this.
Princess: That means you didn't really want to kill me.
Princess: That's the first point.
Gu Zhao listened, raised an eyebrow, and looked at me with interest.
Gu Zhao: ... Please continue, Princess.
Princess: The next day, I managed to find the residence where you took me that night. There, I found a dart that Wu Hai had dropped.
Princess: I initially thought it was because the angle was hidden, and your men missed it when they were cleaning up the scene...
Princess: But with your cautious nature, would you really overlook such important evidence so easily?
Princess: So, that dart was a clue you deliberately left behind.
For the first time, Gu Zhao's gaze towards me showed a ripple of emotion, as if he was somewhat surprised.
Gu Zhao: Is there a third point?
I nodded.
Princess: That day, outside the side hall, you said something to me.
*flashback*
Gu Zhao: Does the princess see everything in the world as black and white? That's too dull and uninteresting.
*flashback over*
Princess: I think that sentence is more about yourself - neither black nor white, but existing in the gray area between truth and falsehood, right and wrong.
Princess: Although I don't know your motives, I believe that night, you were actually protecting me.
I tried to find a crack in Gu Zhao's impeccable expression, but he just smiled.
Gu Zhao: The princess is very clever, but there's one thing you haven't realized.
Gu Zhao took a scroll from his sleeve and spread it out on the stone table.
Gu Zhao: This painting has been widely circulated in the markets recently. The artist is unknown, but its meaning is clear.
Gu Zhao: The Fire Phoenix only appears in times of chaos and will also end chaos. Legend has it that only those of Li bloodline can tame the Fire Phoenix, so the surrounding countries have always been wary and do not dare to act rashly.
Gu Zhao: But since the passing of the High Ancestor, the Fire Phoenix has been nowhere to be found. In recent years, Dacheng's national power has declined, and both Beikun and Guchuan are eager to make a move.
Gu Zhao: And at this very moment, there's the prophecy from twelve years ago about the "heart guarded by fireflies," followed by rumors of the Fire Phoenix reappearing as soon as you returned to the capital...
Gu Zhao: Doesn't the Princess understand how dangerous her current situation is?
I heard from Mother that twelve years ago, when the soothsayer first gave the prophecy about me, Father didn't take it seriously.
But later, for some unknown reason, he suddenly changed his attitude and banished me from the palace... No one knows what happened in between.
Princess: But... why would Father choose to bring me back at this time?
-
After returning to the palace, I received an imperial edict from Father, designating my fiefdom as Lingzhou.
Since the founding of the dynasty, Lingzhou has always been a place of exile, located in the remote border region between Dacheng and Beikun. Yet, Father "bestowed" it upon me.
But I calmly accepted the imperial edict.
