Jewish American History Month is a great time to get my book, THE RED DOOR
The Red Door is a dark fairytale told in story-poems that follows a woman’s spiritual and erotic awakening after she has an otherworldly encounter while visiting the mystical city of Tzfat.
The structure and content of The Red Door draw heavily from Jewish folklore and mysticism, and its style is inspired by writers, filmmakers, and other artists who blur the lines between fantasy and horror.
Get your copy today if you enjoy works like…
The Bloody Chamber and Other Stories by Angela Carter
The Company of Wolves (dir. Neil Jordan)
Lilith’s Cave (ed. Howard Schwartz)
Pan’s Labyrinth (dir. Guillermo del Toro)
Kissing the Witch by Emma Donoghue Labyrinth (dir. Jim Henson)
Grimm’s fairy tales
And if you've already read it, feel free to reblog and tell everyone why they need to get a copy ASAP.

A Little More Space
Requested Here!
Pairing: Dalton Lambert x fem!reader
Summary: After overhearing Dalton say you're clingy, you give him the space he wants. Dalton, however, needs to close the distance and remind you that he loves everything about you, including the lack of space.
Warnings: angst, fluff, takes place after The Red Door
Word Count: 2.9k+ words
“No way,” Foster says.
His voice echoes in Dalton’s empty dorm room, but Dalton rolls his eyes as if they’re standing face-to-face.
“What is that supposed to mean, Foster?” Dalton asks.
“That I don’t believe you. And I swear, Dalton, if you tell me it’s Chris…”
“It’s not Chris.”
The door opens and Dalton sighs. Since he closed the red door, he’s gotten less jumpy, but his calmness about someone waltzing into his private room is different. It’s one of two people standing behind him.
“What’s not me?”
“Chris,” Dalton greets as he turns around. “I’m talking to my brother.”
“About his girlfriend,” Foster cuts in. “What’s up with that? It’s not April 1st, right?”
Chris tilts her head to look at Dalton. “The girlfriend isn’t a new development. They’ve been together since freshman year.”
“What?!” Foster exclaims.
“Yeah. Seems like closing the door is all your brother needed to find it in himself to get a girl. Wait, you haven’t introduced her to your family?”
Dalton rubs his jaw while looking for an answer that doesn’t sound made up or like he’s hiding something.
“You’re nervous,” Chris answers for him. “Wanted to make sure it was more than a fling I guess. As if the sudden absence of personal space wasn’t enough to tell you that.”
“Oh, dude,” Foster says. He pauses to laugh before asking, “When can I come visit and meet her?”
“Stay in school,” Dalton replies. “Bye, Foster.”
Dalton ends the call before Foster can say anything else. He tosses his phone on the bed and turns to face Chris.
“Hi, Chris,” he greets again.
“Hey,” she answers.
Her smile shows how aware she is that Dalton does not appreciate the interruption. Chris can understand why he may want to keep you separated from his personal life, but not his family. You’re energetic, friendly, and impossible not to love. Although Chris teases you and Dalton about your relationship, she can see that it is true and that you and Dalton care deeply for one another.
“Speaking of personal space, where is the future Mrs. Dalton?” Chris inquires.
As if summoned, you knock on the still-open door. Dalton smiles when he sees you, and he doesn’t hesitate to invite you inside.
“Hi,” you greet brightly as you toss your bag onto the floor.
You wrap your arms around Dalton’s waist as you say hello, then step away just long enough to hug Chris, too. Spending time with Dalton is your favorite thing in the world, and you have so much to tell him today. His conversation with Chris probably takes precedence, though, so you wrap your hands around Dalton’s biceps and bounce on your toes so they can finish talking.
“How have you put up with Dolphin for so long?” Chris asks.
“Put up with him? I don’t put up with him,” you answer quickly. “I love him.”
Dalton’s cheeks begin to redden, but he turns toward you and lets his hair hide his face from Chris. She laughs because she already knows how easily affected Dalton is.
“What?” you ask. “Ooh, speaking of dolphins, I have something I wanted to tell both of you.”
“I’ve got a study date in twenty minutes,” Chris says. “Is this another weird fact that will thoroughly distract me until it’s over?”
“I mean, I’ve been thinking about it since lunch, but I don’t know if you’ll think it’s as cool as I do.”
Chris smiles and clicks her tongue. “Tell me everything, Goldie.”
The nickname isn’t new, but you’re still unsure what it’s about. Dalton and Chris are both well aware that it is a reference to your golden retriever-like qualities and personality. Even if they told you, you wouldn’t mind, but Chris gets a lot of joy from seeing confusion on your face if only for a moment until you find something more interesting to focus on.
“Okay,” you begin. “So, I was walking to lunch and these two guys were talking about dolphins and I overheard it. Actually, there was a big butterfly that I was following, but I got distracted when I heard the word ‘dolphin.’”
“Can’t imagine why,” Chris interjects.
Dalton shakes his head at Chris while he wraps his arm around your waist. You’re pressed to his side, but your flexing fingers show that you want to be even closer. Chris has often joked that you may as well just live in Dalton’s lap with how close you perch yourself.
“One of them said that dolphins have two stomachs, which apparently is really common knowledge according to the other guy. But, then they started talking about the fact that dolphins can recognize themselves in a mirror! Isn’t that cool? And they can also use tools, so their intelligence isn’t completely unlike ours.”
“That’s crazy,” Dalton offers, though his attention is on you more than what you’re saying.
“Alright, I have to go, but now I want to see a dolphin build a house or something. The tool thing is cool,” Chris says as she stands.
The moment you are alone, you begin tapping a foot as you wait for Dalton. He sits on his bed and smiles at your energy before opening an arm toward you. You cling to his side but continue moving your hands up his arm, over his shoulder, and into his hair. You create several small braids as you talk about your day, but Dalton doesn’t care. He loves everything about you: your high energy, talkative tendencies, and clinginess. Chris teases him about how much he likes it, and she hasn’t been wrong yet.
“Oh! And I wanted to ask what you’re doing this summer. I want to go to the beach, but I’d love for you to come. Your family is welcome to come, too, if you want. Foster and Kali sound great,” you continue.
“That sounds fun. Maybe we should introduce you first; you may not like Foster,” Dalton responds.
“I like everyone.”
Dalton chuckles as he pats your leg. It’s true, you like everyone, but Dalton is the only one you love the way you do. When you turn to lay against his chest and trace shapes over his shirt, Dalton realizes that he wouldn’t mind if you took Chris’s advice and lived permanently attached to him.
✯✯✯✯✯
The sky seems prettier when you’re on the way to visit Dalton. With your eyes on the clouds, you don’t notice a tree branch blocking the sidewalk. Your foot catches on it and you immediately extend your arms to catch yourself. The bloody lines coating your forearms look bad, but nothing can take away your smile. After jumping to your feet, you rush to Dalton’s dorm and don’t notice the stinging sensation covering your arms.
You skip onto Dalton’s floor and stop outside his closed door. As you raise your hand to knock, you freeze at the sound of a voice that isn’t Dalton’s.
“How long have you been with…” someone asks.
Dalton says your name before answering, “Since freshman year.”
“You haven’t considered trying something new?”
“Not at all.”
A third voice joins with a boisterous laugh. “Dalton, bro, I know we’re art students, so we have to be a bit weird, but… Doesn’t it bother you? The constant talking and how she has to be touching you?”
Your smile drops. Unable to remember the last time you felt like this, you pull your bottom lip between your teeth and anxiously await Dalton’s answer. Being energetic and clingy doesn’t mean you are insensitive; you still have feelings and insecurities even if you don’t show them.
“I mean,” Dalton says slowly. “Yeah, she’s clingy, always touching me.”
Dalton keeps talking, but you turn and run. Running to Dalton’s dorm was different, and as you pass the tree branch that tripped you, you begin to feel pain. It’s unusual now because you’ve been happy and golden since meeting Dalton. Now, you know that he needs a little more space. You’re clingy and always touching him, so you will give him the room he needs.
✯✯✯✯✯
Dalton wants to run his classmates out, but they’re nearly finished with the group project. When your name is brought up, he becomes even more encouraged to empty his dorm before you arrive.
“Doesn’t it bother you? The constant talking and how she has to be touching you?”
The question jars Dalton. Yes, he knows that you are touchy and talkative, but he has never been bothered by it. Dalton loves you, and those qualities make you the one Dalton loves.
“I mean, yeah, she’s clingy, always touching me,” Dalton admits. “But it’s, like, addictive. Her voice and her touch are the only things I want most days. Call me a crazy artist for that, but her happiness is contagious.”
“That’s unique, bro,” one of his classmates says. “But I for one have a first and only date lined up, so I have to go.”
Dalton gladly shows them out and looks down the hallway. You’re usually here by now, so you must be running late. There aren’t any texts from you, though, which concerns Dalton. He calls you and it goes to voicemail. Only after he texts you does he get an answer.
Sorry, I got busy. See you later?
Dalton immediately knows something is wrong. Your text is out of character: devoid of emojis and excitement. He’s concerned but understands it as meaning that you are truly busy. After agreeing to meet later, Dalton sits by himself and misses you. Being in a relationship with you, Dalton has never had to show how clingy he is, but right now he needs you.
✯✯✯✯✯
The following day, you try to keep your mind off Dalton. It isn’t easy though; the sun doesn’t seem as bright or happy, and your smile is nothing but an upturning of your closed lips. The people you pass on the sidewalk daily look twice; they are confused by the sudden difference in your appearance and personality.
When you pass Dalton on the sidewalk and don’t even look up at him, he knows his concerns were well-founded.
“Hey,” Dalton says.
He lays a hand on your arm, and you jump under him. When your eyes meet his, you force a bigger smile onto your face and step back. Dalton’s hand falls as his brows raise. You, however, are just trying to give him the space he wants.
“Sorry, I didn’t get much sleep,” you say. It’s true, but it’s because of him. “Maybe we could take another raincheck?”
“If that’s what you want.”
You nod and look over your shoulder. After offering a half-hearted and disappointed farewell, you leave Dalton. The sudden distance is heartbreaking, and Dalton needs to figure out what happened. To do that, he needs an expert.
✯✯✯✯✯
Over the next two days, you become distant with Dalton. The few times he manages to see you in person, you seem desperate to get away from him. What hurts worse is how you respond to his calls and texts. Your new sadness and disinterest are, unknown to Dalton, a cover to hide how much his words affect you. Pulling away from Dalton hurts both of you, but you are convinced that it is what he wants.
As you sit in your room and stare blankly at the wall, Dalton is searching for answers. He calls Chris and begs her to come over. She agrees, partly because she’s interested, partly because Dalton is her friend, and mostly because Dalton hasn’t sounded like this since the fight against the Further.
“What’s the rush?” she asks as she walks into the dorm. Dalton doesn’t comment as she slides her key into her pocket, and she becomes keenly aware that something is terribly wrong. “Dolphin, talk to me.”
Dalton simply asks what happened to you. He gives a brief explanation of how different and distant you are before repeating himself to ask, “What happened?”
“I don’t know. If she’s not talking to you… What did you do?”
Dalton pulls his shoulders to his ears and spreads his hands. “Nothing. That I know of at least. We were fine the day before she texted.”
“What did you do that day, then? Run me through everything.”
Dalton nods before recounting his every move for the day. Chris asks him to fast-forward through his bathroom trip and he reaches the meeting in his dorm room.
“So, he asked if I got tired of her talking and touching me and I said, you know, yeah, she’s clingy, but-“
Chris stands quickly and looks at Dalton with wide eyes. “You called her clingy?”
“She is. But then I said that I loved that about her. I’m clingy too!”
“I know all of that, Dalton. She must have heard somehow because that is the perfect reason to stop clinging. You need to find a better word than ‘clingy’ and go apologize.”
Dalton tugs his hair before standing. He needs to see you and explain himself right now. As he runs out of his room and toward you, he runs through what he can say, what he should say, to make you see how much he loves you. Clinginess included.
✯✯✯✯✯
Rapid knocks on your door pull your attention from the page before you. It’s covered with random, meaningless doodles. Despite your new lack of clinginess, you are still energetic and need to spend that somehow. Since Dalton needs space, you’ve taken to pacing your room and doodling to pass the time.
When you open the door and see the boy you’ve been thinking about, you drop your chin. The distance has to remain because you will get clingy again the first chance you get. Dalton is inviting, he’s safe, and he is your constant. If you end up in his arms, you’ll start talking and go back to being too wordy and too touchy.
“Can I come in?” Dalton asks quietly.
You nod and step back to keep physical space between you.
“Did you come to the dorm while I was with my art group?” he asks. You nod again and he asks, “And you heard what I said, right?”
With your lips pressed together, you nod yet again. Dalton wants to hear your voice, feel your touch, and show you how much he loves you. He has to convince you to let him first.
“Can you please tell me exactly what you heard?”
You take a deep breath before recounting, “Just that I’m talkative and clingy. I’m sorry.”
Dalton shakes his head, and his hair moves wildly. “I did say that. But that’s not all I said. I said that I love that you’re clingy because I am too. I love your voice and being with you… I need it because I love you.”
“Clingy isn’t a good thing,” you whisper.
“It is. It is for us.”
Dalton takes a step toward you, and your eyes brighten as you raise them.
“I’m sorry that I said it,” Dalton adds. “Not because I don’t mean it, but because it hurt you and pushed you away. I didn’t mean it badly; I promise that. I love you, and your clingy touches and your rambles.”
“Can I- can you hug me?” you ask.
Dalton smiles as he pulls you into his arms. He holds you tightly, he clings to you. As you lean your head against him, he whispers more promises in your ear.
“I love you, just the way you are,” he promises softly.
You pull back and look at him, and your smile is back. Dalton cradles your face and kisses you. When you giggle against his lips, he feels a huge relief at having you back. Back to yourself and back in his arms. Dalton moves his hands down your arms, and you inhale sharply when he reaches your forearms. Your smile doesn’t drop, and you don’t say anything, so Dalton looks away from your face to push your sleeves up. The sight of the deep scratches makes his eyes go wide, and he holds your hands gently to look.
“What happened?” Dalton asks as he pushes you toward your bed.
“I was coming to see you and there was a tree branch in the sidewalk. A cloud above me looked like a dog and so I didn’t see the branch,” you explain happily.
Your feet swing over the edge of the bed, and Dalton sits beside you to bandage your arms.
“Alright, this may hurt,” Dalton says as he applies ointment to your arms.
“Can I tell you about what happened yesterday? I haven’t-“
“Please tell me,” Dalton interrupts. “I’ve missed your voice. I need you to know that, okay? I love you; I love being with you, near you. If you weren’t a cuddler, I’d be the one that looks clingy; I’d probably suffocate you keeping you close.”
Dalton rubs his thumb over your knuckles as you nod along with his promises.
“Suffocation wouldn’t be fun.”
“It wouldn’t. If Foster doesn’t believe I have a girlfriend, imagine what he’d think if I killed you. Hurting your feelings was bad enough.”
“I think I’d like Foster,” you muse.
“You will. I’ll have to introduce you soon. For now, can I hold your hand and hear all about what I missed?”
You gasp excitedly and turn toward Dalton. With your legs spread over his lap and your arms in his hands, you smile and begin talking about every moment that you spent away from Dalton. He hangs onto every word and enjoys the feeling of being with you again. When you mention going to the beach again, Dalton knows that he will go with you, and once you meet Foster, he’ll want to go too.

Dalton Lambert x Reader
Warnings: spoilers for insidious 5, lil bit of fluff, angst, probs ooc Dalton, mentions of possessed!Dalton
Summary: After Dalton accidentally puts you in terrible danger, he makes a difficult decision.
A/N: Soooooo, I'm in love with another fictional character, never saw myself writing for this franchise! Please excuse the poor gif, this was the first one I've ever made! Hope you guys enjoy and please let me know what you think! I love you all xxx
I'm gonna pack my things and leave you behind This feeling's old and I know that I've made up my mind I hope you feel what I felt when you shattered my soul 'Cause you were cruel and I'm a fool So please let me go
----------------------
You stared at the clock on the wall behind your Professor as you willed time to go faster, you were just so restless, you needed to see him. It felt as though you hadn’t seen your boyfriend in weeks. In reality, it was only a few days, but a few days without any form of contact from Dalton felt like forever. You knew why you hadn’t seen or spoken to him, he felt guilty.
As soon as the bell rang, you packed up your things as quickly as possible, causing your friend to laugh at you. “that desperate to see your little Picasso?”
You rolled your eyes, “well I haven’t seen him for a few days, he’s been sick,” the lie fell from your lips so easily so you fooled even yourself into believing it was true, “I’ll see you later,” you waved at your friend before heading in the direction of Dalton’s dorm room on the other side of the school.
The door was open and he was standing at his easel when you walked in, his long hair loose around his shoulders. You smiled and kissed him on the cheek, “hey.”
“Hey, Y/N,” he smiled and turned to face you, letting you give him a proper kiss, paint smudged across his forehead and along the bridge of his nose. He looked so gorgeous like this.
“Are you okay? You sounded freaked when you called,” you started as you sat at the end of his bed.
He sighed and sat next to you, fiddling with the frayed material of his jeans, “I guess that I’m just worried that the door won’t stay closed.”
“We’ll get through it together, just like we always do.”
A warm hand cupped your cheek, a thumb brushing over the cut on your cheek, “it’s going to scar,” he whispered, “I can’t believe that I hurt you.”
His big blue eyes welled up with tears and you placed your hand over the one he had on your cheek, “it wasn’t you. Dalton, I love you.”
He bit his lip as he stood abruptly, his fingers tangled in his hair. You let him pace around the room in silence, it looked like he was at war with himself. Finally, he looked at you sadly, “I can’t do this anymore, Y/N.”
Your heart plummeted as you stared at him, trying to process his words, “what?”
“I can’t let what happened last week ever happen again. I won’t let it happen again.”
You stood up and walked over to him, cupping his cheeks, “it won’t ever happen again.”
“Y/N, I can’t…” he trailed off, almost breathless, “I can’t take the risk. I have to let you go, I love you.”
“Who are you to make the decision for the both of us? You can’t just end our relationship just like that,” you snapped your fingers, “just because something bad has happened!” your voice was rising now but you couldn’t help it. It was like he was giving up.
Dalton took your hands in his, “do you think that this is easy for me? Y/N, I almost killed you.”
“But you didn’t!”
“But I wanted to!” he shouted, causing you to take a couple of steps backwards, he closed his eyes for a brief moment, looking pained. When he opened them they were full of tears again, “I could feel how much he wanted to hurt you. Wanted to kill you. I love you Y/N but I can’t put you in danger again, I won’t.”
The bitter words that had sprung to your lips had died on your tongue as you saw how broken he looked, “fine,” you whispered as tears rolled down your cheeks, “it seems as though you’ve made up your mind,” he opened his mouth to reply, tears streaming down his cheeks, “I don’t want to hear it, Dalton,” your voice broke, “just stay away from me,” you sniffled and quickly left the room.
As soon as you were in the safety of your own dorm, you broke down and sank to your knees, crying into your arms, you can’t believe he would just give up.
As the weather started to get warmer your heart seemed to mend itself, it was difficult, at first it the pain was unbearable and you didn’t know how you would be able to get through it, but you did. You and Dalton virtually lived on opposite sides of the school, you didn’t have any classes together and he hated parties so you didn’t come across him. Dalton hadn’t even tried to call, but maybe that was for the best. You wouldn’t have picked up if he had.
Soon yours and Dalton’s relationship seemed like a distant memory, like something out of a summer dream and just like she had the year before, Dalton’s mom invited you to their Fourth of July party. You debated on not going but you decided that you couldn’t avoid him forever. Sooner or later you would run into him.
That’s where you found yourself at the precise moment, you were in the Lambert’s back garden, speaking with one of their neighbours. As you went to get a refill on your drink, a tall handsome figure went to stand at your side. You looked up at him, it looked as though he hadn’t slept in months and he’d cut his hair.
“I can’t dream without you,” he mumbled and you raised an eyebrow.
“I thought that was the point.”
He shook his head, “no I mean, I can’t sleep without you. I need you Y/N. I’m so sorry.”
You cupped his cheek, your thumb stroking across his skin gently, you still loved him, a part of you always would, “I can’t Dalton,” you sighed as his heart visibly broke and you stood up on your tiptoes to brush your lips against his.
That was the last time you saw him for a very long time.

Giselle Pt. 3
Summary: A sneak peek of Giselle from The Red Door series showcasing her many powers.
Author's Note: Hi guysssss! I’m back with an update! Your girl Giselle is backkkk! I hope you missed her! I sure did! I hope you all enjoy her reckless adventures! Again, as a reminder This character is from “The Red Door” but is NOT tied in with the story whatsoever. Hope that makes sense! I love y’all always!!! Enjoy enjoy enjoy!!! Don’t forget to please leave a comment for ya girl! I LIVE for the commentary!
She was intentional, precise, and calculated. She was utterly determined to be Ambrose’s undoing. She was willing and ready to watch him unravel at the seam. She was a master of talents but she was never too proud to be a student. She studied him relentlessly learning everything that she could possibly know about him. She gained knowledge of his connections, his inner circle, and his schedules. She was a woman totally obsessed. She sought him in the same way that a thief seeks riches. And here he was, standing on the balcony alone quietly admiring the stars. It was almost as if it was destined. Ambrose was never alone. His henchmen continuously guarded him.
Giselle took a deep breath as she approached him. It was now or never. The impossible will be done tonight. His demise will be caused by her hand and the thought alone gave her goosebumps. She presented herself as a woman of the night. She just needed to appease him and more importantly, get close to him.
With a drink resting in her left hand and handcuffs resting in her right, she smiled flirtatiously before she spoke.
“I was sent for you Sir,” she said lightly.
Still, Ambrose’s back was turned. He didn’t move an inch.
“I sent for no one,” he responded sternly.
“But you did,” she lied.
“Look,” he stated, frustrated.
Abruptly he turned away from the stars and faced her. She was the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. He froze at the sight of her. Slowly, she twirled and flaunted her assets confidently. His eyes trailed her body unapologetically and needless to say he was pleased at the view. He had her undivided attention. Gradually she approached him and placed the drink in his hand.
“Drink,” she commanded.
Easily, he complied. Giselle rubbed her hand up and down his chest as she stared him lovingly in the eye. His hand caressed her lower back as he watched her playfully place the handcuff around his wrist and hers.
“We’re tethered,” she whispered against his skin.
She could feel him relaxing under his touch. She placed small kisses along his chest and neck as she palmed his manhood. Giselle sensed his arousal and his adoration.
“Fuck me,” she whispered in his ear.
“And fuck me, like you mean it,” she demanded.
Quickly Ambrose sprinted into action. Aggressively, he sat her on the railing and ripped off his suit jacket. He was ravenous. He wrapped his hand around her neck as he slowly sank into her. Curses left his lips as spells left hers. His thrusts started slow almost as if he was trying to make love. He was filled with so much adoration - it felt almost as if he wanted to worship her and Giselle could feel it too. He was right in the palm of her hand. His grasp around her throat tightened as his strokes grew more rapid and passionate. He was losing himself in her and now was her chance.
Roughly, she moved his hand away from her neck and forcefully grabbed his face. She looked him in the eye affectionately as she stroked his face.
“I am bewildered,” he whispered, breathlessly.
“No,” she pressed her finger on his lips. “Bewitched,” she corrected.
She pulled him in closer and kissed him fervidly. She wrapped her hands around his neck as she moaned in his mouth. With each kiss, she quietly drew breath - his breath. She was silently attempting to pull his power out of him. Many men have died by her hand but he would be the first to die by her kiss.
Ambrose closed his eyes and basked in her. He felt like he was floating. He felt weightless and careless but he also felt something else. He felt as if something was pulling at him like ocean waves. It felt like he was drifting further and further away from himself. His brows furrowed with confusion.
“It’s okay. Stay with me,” Giselle whispered in between kisses.
He placed his palms over her hands and kissed her once more. Gently he tugged at her hands to remove them from his face. To his dismay, her hands didn’t budge. Quickly, he opened his eyes and grew angry. He ripped himself from her embrace. Violently, he grabbed her by the neck and dangled Giselle over the balcony.
“You thought me to be a fly in your web, didn’t you?” He screamed.
Giselle struggled underneath his grasp. She channeled the claws of a lioness and scratched him repeatedly in hopes of breaking free. He was injured but unphased. With disgust, he moved away from the balcony and tossed her to the side. He spared her.
No man has ever survived Giselle’s spells. She was astonished and frightened.
“What are you?” She questioned.
“Exactly who you thought I was. The most powerful being to ever live,” He answered.
“And you must be Giselle. I’ve heard of you. The vixen that steals the power of men,” he continued.
Giselle remained quiet.
“Why men?” He questioned.
“Why not men?” Giselle answered.
“Mhm,” Ambrose nodded. “I respect that,” he continued. “The real question is, what am I going to do with you,” he stated, with a sinister smile resting on his face.
“I’m not easy to kill,” Giselle stated, sternly.
“Oh, I know. You’re very cunning,” He replied.
Loudly Ambrose sighed and turned away from Giselle. He gazed at the stars once again. Before Ambrose could utter another word Giselle vanished. Again, he spared her.
“Oh Giselle, you can run but you can’t hide. We’re tethered you and I,” he whispered into the night. —------

Elijah and the Red Door
Elijah Mikaelson's red door is metaphorical and people take it too literal sometimes.
Initially, it was a physical door from his human days where he first kissed Tatia and then inevitably laid her body after her death. Shortly after, the door became a representation of the hidden space in his mind that Esther created so he didn't have to live with the fact that he accidentally killed Tatia. It inadvertently became a place where Elijah hid away memories he couldn't handle remembering.
In Season 2, Esther forces these memories out of Elijah, making him remember Tatia's death and the rest of the memories he had hidden there. We only see two memories on the show come forward -- what he did to Tatia and to Aurora. The show doesn't tell us if any other secrets were kept there. But we do know that even before this Elijah remembers a lot of things he has done in the past that he regrets, such as leaving Aya behind, not preventing Klaus' curse, and Celeste's death. So it doesn't appear that he had a lot of hidden memories there. I think killing random people ranks under these events.
When Hayley goes behind the red door, I've seen a lot of people say this is a memory of his, however, I believe it merely represents the monster he is afraid of becoming but believes he is deep inside.
First, the timeline doesn't make sense from what we know of their life. The Mikaelsons are turned sometime in late 1001, we don't know how much time goes by between when they are turned and when they have to flee North America, however, the red door is not created until Tatia's death. Quickly after her death, Esther chains Klaus' wolf side, Klaus kills Esther, and then they have to flee North America. We next see them about 6 months later in Europe, having traded their Viking clothes for more peasant-like clothing. While it's possible they held on to their Viking fighting gear, we don't see it again.
Additionally, we see Elijah scold his brothers for not being careful with their killings. If Elijah had massacred a whole village and then forgotten, Kol and Klaus would have been quick to remind him. They wouldn't let Elijah get away with scolding them if he had been just as bad, if not worse. Potentially Elijah could have snuck off without them realizing, but it is clear from Kol and Finn that they have all stuck closely together. Also, "Red Door Elijah" is seen as being irrational. I don't think he would have cared to keep it a secret.
Finally, at the time Hayley goes in there, the memories have already been released. It is no longer the place where he keeps memories he fears.
So instead of what Hayley sees in his mind as a memory, I see it as the place where he kept his remaining fears locked away. He feared becoming a monster who had no remorse. He kept his fear of being a monster in the same place he had kept the memories of his most monstrous deeds. He was in Viking gear because he feared becoming his father by hurting the people he cared for in the name of power/strength.
I know people want it to be a true memory so they can say Elijah is worse than Klaus, but those actions don't make sense with his character. All vampires have the potential to become a "red door" version of themselves, but it is their desire to be better that separates them. Klaus allows himself to live as a remorseless vampire for a thousand years, while we see Elijah constantly struggling with his decisions and regrets. Yes, he does become apathetic to human life, but we still see him having some standards -- like stating he doesn't feed from children.
If Elijah truly was the monster behind the red door, we would have seen it when Hayley died in season 1 or 5, when Dhalia was nearly killing his whole family, when Celeste died, when he thought Klaus drowned his whole family, when Marcel or Lucein was upgraded and attacked him. There were so many opportunities for him to be angry/scared enough to lose control and even turn off his humanity (if that's possible) but he never did. Klaus teases him about it one of the few times we even see his vampire face because it is that rare for him to even lose that much control in a fight.
So no, I don't believe Elijah ever murdered an entire village just because. Do I think he is capable, yes. If he felt it would save his family, he would do it. And he likely left villages behind knowing Mikael would do just that. But with the timeline and the character of Elijah, I don't see him even losing control and doing that himself.

Listen, I know you don't trust me, and that's fair enough. But, these are your mates we're trying to save, here. The only way that we can do this is if we work together.

Save 30% on The Red Door!
From the blurb on the back...
In this poetry collection that fuses Jewish mysticism and halakha with Gothic tales and queer eroticism, Shawn C. Harris dares us to walk through that red door and lose ourselves on a journey of death, grief, rebellion, escapism, nihilism, passion. This journey—half nightmare, half revelry—ultimately leads to a re-appreciation of life and light. Each poem is a world to itself; grouped together, they become what might best be described as a (fictitious) memoir in lyrical form, a vision in a pomegranate orchard, an apparition in a cemetery. Harris’ work is unusual, highly original: densely structured, full of whispers and echoes, surprising, haunting.

There was comfortable silence in Dalton’s dorm room as he worked on an Art project and you were working on your English assignment. You loved the fact that you felt so comfortable with each other that you were able to do this. You glanced up at Dalton, who looked so cute with his brow furrowed, the tip of his tongue sticking out slightly as his hand moved across his sketchbook.
He must have felt you looking because he looked up at you, his cheeks flushing, “what’s up?”
“Please, come to the party with me,” you whined.
Dalton sighed and glanced down at his sketchbook before he looked back up at you, “Y/N,” he groaned, “I really have no interest in going to another party surrounded by frat boys and their stupid girlfriends.”
You huffed and flopped back dramatically on the spare bed you were sitting on, “fine.”
Dalton laughed at how dramatic you were, “are you going to have a little temper tantrum if I don’t take you to the party?” he teased.
You turn your head to face him, “will it change your mind if I do?”
He shook his head fondly as he began sketching again, “sorry, but no.”
You pouted, “but I think it’ll do you some good to get out of the dorm though. And, besides, you closed the door so there won’t be any dead guys lurking in any bathrooms,” you joked.
Dalton thought about it for a second and you could practically see the cogs turning in his head, “fine,” he sighs, “but if the party sucks, I’m blaming you.”
“Woo! You’re the best!” you grin as you sit up.
“I know, I know,” he smirked, “I am pretty great.”
You laughed, “you’re oh so humble too.”
The two of you quickly finished your work and agreed to meet back at Dalton’s dorm around 7pm. You had a hard time deciding on what to wear, you didn’t want to make it seem like you were trying too hard, after all it was a casual night with your best friend. God, you were such a cliché, having feelings for your best friend. You pushed the thoughts out of your head as you finally decided on an outfit and quickly got ready before heading to Dalton’s dorm.
“Hey,” he greeted you with a grin as he stepped out to lock the door to his room, “you look good.”
“Thanks,” you flushed, “so do you.”
He said nothing but ducked his head to hide the smile on his face. You both walked out into the cold night air to start the short walk to the frat house. You were meeting Chris there as she was going with some of her other friends.
Dalton shoved his hands in his pockets as he glanced at you, “so why are you so excited to go to this party? Are you meeting up with someone?” his voice was weird as he asked you that last part.
You scoffed at his words, “no, I just think it’d be good to get out and you need to loosen up and get drunk.”
Dalton laughed, “I’m not sure I like getting drunk.”
“Well,” you start, “if you do end up getting drunk I’ll look after you.”
“Really?” he asked as he glanced at you.
“Of course, I’m destined to look after the slightly awkward, cute art student,” you joke.
Dalton flushed as he kept his eyes on your face, blinking rapidly, “you think I’m cute?”
“I do think you’re cute,” you grin, “surely, you hear it all the time?”
He shook his head, “I’m not used to getting compliments, especially off pretty women,” he grinned at you as he ran a hand through his hair.
Now it was your turn to go red, “you think I’m pretty?”
“I think you’re beautiful,” he corrected himself with a grin as you walked into the frat house together and you smiled as warmth filled your chest.
The frat house was very generic, there were flashing lights and sweaty bodies pressed up together as they danced. There were people doing keg stands and people playing beer pong in the centre. You met Chris by the drinks table and she waved with a grin as you approached.
Dalton touched your shoulder as he gestured to the drinks table, “do you want wine, beer, or whatever that is?” he pointed at the solo cup, wrinkling his nose in disgust.
You laughed, “I think beer is the safest option,” it was the only alcohol on the table that was in a sealed bottle. Dalton nodded in agreement as he grabbed two bottles, cracking them both open and handing one to you.
The both of you hung out at the side-lines of the party, people watching while Chris was upstairs, looking for stuff in vacant rooms. Now that you were here, you were starting to feel a little overwhelmed. Dalton looked increasingly more uncomfortable as you drained your beer and went to grab two more, you felt guilty for dragging him here.
You touched his wrist to get his attention over the loud music, “you want to go outside?” you spoke in his ear, smiling when he nodded his head, relief spreading out across his face.
You took his hand and the both of you walked outside to the pool area. It was quieter out here, there was a lot less people. The both you sat on one of the sun loungers, so close together that your knees touched and you didn’t have to shout to hear each other. There was a drinks table out here too and the two of you made your way through it as you talked about everything and anything, feeling more and more buzzed.
Dalton looked so handsome in a white button down that brought out the blue of his eyes and his long wavy hair was loose. His eyes looked so pretty beneath the lighting of the pool that you looked away from his face as you spoke, “I’m really sorry for dragging you here, it seemed like it would be better in my head.”
Dalton laughed lightly as he linked his fingers through yours, making you look back at him, “don’t apologise, I like the fact I’m here with you,” you smiled as you squeezed his hand in response.
Chris came out to join you, showing you the things she had snagged from the bedrooms upstairs and between the three of you – and the few other people outside – you drank through all the beer on the table outside. None of you would touch the wine or whatever was in the solo cup. You offered to head back into the frat house to grab more drinks. You snagged three bottles of beer and as you were about to head back outside you saw Chris watching something with a look of disbelief on her face.
“What’s wrong?” you asked here as you passed her a bottle of beer.
She pointed, “Dalton is doing a keg stand, he must have been more drunk than we thought,” she laughed.
You watched as Dalton was lowered back to the ground, beer spilling down his front with a grin on his face as the boys around him cheered. He noticed you and called your name excitedly as he held out his arms as he walked over you to give you a hug.
His grin dropped as he pulled away from the hug and he clutched his stomach, looking at you, his eyes wide like a little boy’s, “I don’t feel good,” he mumbled and you had to fight back a laugh.
“C’mon, I’ll take you home,” you rubbed his back and he nodded, you glanced back at Chris, “I’ll text you when I’m back,” you smiled, knowing that she was staying with her friends.
She nodded, “make sure he doesn’t choke on throw up,” she laughed.
It was pretty difficult getting Dalton home when he didn’t contribute much, his feet dragged against the floor and it took twice as long to get back to the dorms. As you got back to his dorm you got some clean clothes from the drawer and handed them to him, turning around so he could change. He snuggled into his bed and you sat at the edge, stroking his hair from his flushed face, passing him a water bottle you got from his mini fridge.
“Do you feel okay?” you asked, “are you going to be sick?”
He shook his head, “no, not gonna be sick,” he slurred his words and he looked up at you with wide eyes, “will you stay and cuddle with me?” he asked, pulling the covers back and scooching back against the wall.
You couldn’t deny him, especially when he looked at you like that, you grinned and got into bed with him, wrapping your arms around him, he leaned his head on your chest, his soft breath blowing against your neck, “you’re so warm,” he mumbled as you stroked his hair.
He was silent for a couple of moments before he spoke again, “can I tell you something?”
“Of course.”
“You can’t tell, Y/N though, you have to promise,” he yawned and you fought back a laugh, he was obviously so far gone.
“I promise,” you laugh.
“I have the biggest crush on, Y/N,” he said simply and you stared at him, feeling a happy bubble rise in your chest, “but I don’t want to ruin our friendship.”
“I don’t think it’ll ruin your friendship,” you whisper, “you should tell her, she might feel the same,” you pressed a kiss against his forehead, speaking against his skin.
“Hmm maybe.”
He was silent for a couple of moments, and you spoke up again, “Dalton?”
He didn’t answer but the slow pace of his breathing told you he was asleep and you grinned as you held him tighter before succumbing to sleep yourself.
