Let's knock Kai out of there. Kai isn't doing that. Even Nat couldn't convince him. But he probably will do black nailpolish and eye shadow, maybe black lipstick. LOL. I think he actually does like Halloween aesthetically and filmly.

I think Pierre does something simple and maybe a tad [unexpectedly, to everyone except his close buds and Felix, who is his closest of buds ;-D] goofy. Maybe a funky tie or flower that if you press it says something silly. He might put on vampire teeth if it's like kids trick or treating. Felix could probably bully him into dressing up though or a couple's costume. Maybe someone/a pair from a book. Or something like a painter and their painting -- I feel that's win win; Felix gets to be creative and colorful, Pierre gets to make Felix happy and be a nerd.

Andy usually doesn't do Halloween -- the only times he might do a costume is for some office party [he shows up and then leaves] or for Verda's kids [but the latter is rarely asked for, blessed]. A gussy-upping of his suits. Maybe Dracula [haha] or a robber baron [I bet he owns a top hat and cane qwerrs lol]. I feel ONCE he was Lurch for the kids. Don't tell anyone, he didn't hate it.

Val usually goes as various rock stars -- especially between 60-80s and especially if they're big on black or white. It gives them a chance to show off their hair and make up skills. Once they definitely went as John Travolta in Grease, so.

It depends who Kendis is dressing for and where they're going. If it's something fun with friends or like an office party -- maybe something like Regine from Living Single or Max from the same show; a fave character of theirs [usually someone bitchy and/or sassy. Once they went as Regina George in a game I played them in, but with pants]. If it's for the kids -- something spooky, but appropriately so. Like Morticia Addams. If it's a late at night, adult's only, I can see them doing something like dream house murder barbie or tiana the undead -- taking something cute and making it horror [and sexy ofc].

HBD Kendi: Antiracism requires us to close outcome gaps between races.  Inaction is a policy, and a policy which promotes inequity, which means that inaction is racist.  Childrens’ similarity to their biological parents in adulthood is apparently much more powerful than existing social and environmental interventions, such as lead remediation or Perry Preschool.

HBD Kendi: Therefore, Antiracism requires us to immediately begin a family planning program that increases the relative fertility of the most healthy and successful members of minority groups, so as to converge outcomes in health, education, earnings, and longevity. 

HBD Kendi: To hesitate is racist.

HBD Kendi: What really matters is the experience of the median minority child, and we can alter that experience by altering the distribution of minority children, ensuring that the typical minority child is more likely to be born in a stable, two-parent household with significant wealth.

Liberal Susan: ...what?

Liberal Susan: That’s terrible!  Suppose you didn’t know who you would be born as in our future society - would you really want to take chance that you would be one of the people who was not favored to reproduce?

HBD Kendi: Of course!  What would anyone give to guarantee birth into a healthy, stable, wealthy, two-parent family?  What would anyone give merely to increase the odds?  What do people give now merely to enter the United States?

Liberal Susan: I wouldn’t make that choice.

HBD Kendi: But I would.

Liberal Susan: But what about the right of everyone to have children?

HBD Kendi: We aren’t prohibiting anyone from having children, and in fact the total number of members of the ethnic groups in question will increase.  Therefore, this cannot possibly be genocide, as no one is being killed or sterilized.

Liberal Susan: But you’re deliberately using government program to alter the distribution of genes in the population - that’s eugenics!

HBD Kendi: Every government program inherently has some impact on fertility, even indirectly just by changing relative costs or the benefits of having children, therefore, every government program could be considered a “eugenics program,” including all existing welfare programs.

HBD Kendi: However, we are not assuming a genetic causes, merely taking advantage of an observed correlation in outcomes to perform a supercharged social intervention - one worthy of the seriousness of the problem.  Who is to say it isn’t the result of some difficult-to-measure environmental X factor?  Why shouldn’t we take advantage of it?

There are three means to reject HBD Kendi’s argument.

1) “It just reinforces Whiteness.”

The first is to propose that the cause of the apparent heritability of outcomes is “due to proximity to” something called “whiteness.” 

“Whiteness” in this sense is a hegemonic ideology which favors an arbitrary set of preferences which reward “white” people for essentially aesthetic reasons, with no worthwhile practical or moral redeeming value.  In this case, increasing the fertility of minorities who are successful under this system is essentially rewarding random people for no reason, which would be an injustice.

However, attempting to pin down “whiteness” tends to wind up labeling “objectivity” or “time as a commodity” or random bits of being bad at management or general human nature as “whiteness,” which also tends to self-negate - if statistical measurement is “white,” then using statistically-measured differences in wealth to make the case against “whiteness” is also “white,” and thus invalid.

While not really sensible, this argument may be politically viable.

2) “It’s too expensive / it won’t work.”

If these results are not the result of “whiteness” and thus not merely enforced aesthetic preference, but are the results of social or environmental causes, this does not negate HBD Kendi’s argument that we should use the most powerful social intervention available.

The second means to reject HBD Kendi’s argument is to argue that his program will either be ineffective or too costly.  However, it is possible that his program will be cost-effective, as he has multiple possible paths to increase relative fertility, and doing so may even be long-term revenue-positive.  This argument is not sufficient; he can argue that the scale of the problem, and the value of solving it, more than justify giving him funding to make the attempt.

3) Negate “Antiracism.”

The third is to reject the primary premises of “Antiracism” - that we should treat races as first-class moral entities that supersede the rights of individuals, and that we must equalize the results of “races” as statistical aggregates.

MY RECENT AMAZON PURCHASES

Scalloped Sports Bra & Matching Leggings After seeing this set on my friend Kendi, I immediately ordered it for myself.  The color I wanted wasn’t in stock in my size, but I was surprised by how much I loved this aqua hue (and by how tan it made me look!).  The leggings have a nice high waist and fit perfectly!  I found both pieces to run true to size – the quality of the fabric & compression is perfect, even for more intense workouts.

Waterproof Dog Leash When we took our anniversary getaway to the beach last month, we brought our dog along with us & he had the best time running through the waves and digging in the sand.  But, his leash got so wet & muddy and it took forever to dry out.  So, as soon as we got back, I ordered this waterproof leash to take with us next time we go hiking, camping or to the coast – it’s super durable and a portion of all sales are donated to help local animal rescues.

Essie “On The Bright Cider” One thing I love about Amazon is that you can often find discontinued beauty items still for sale.  This polish is from an older Essie Collection that I somehow missed out on, so I was happy to find it again – it’s the perfect neutral shade as we transition into fall!

Clarifying Post-Swim Shampoo Now that we have a pool in our backyard, we’ve all been swimming pretty regularly…which is great exercise, but not so good for our hair.  I finally bought this clarifying shampoo, which removes every trace of chlorine while hydrating strands + it’s non-GMO, cruelty-free & has no parabens.

Self-Tanning Mitt This was the summer when I finally started self-tanning regularly and it’s safe to say I’m hooked.  I’ve been using this foaming mousse and when I apply it with this mitt, I get a flawless application with no streaks!

24K Gold Eye Patches I just ran out of my last supply of eye patches and wanted to try a new kind, so I ordered these and have been so happy with them.  They are quite a bit more slippery than what I was using before so I only apply them when I have time and can lean my head back or lay down completely.  But, it’s worth it because they have a major de-puffing effect & I really noticed a difference in brightness – will definitely be buying again!

USB Wireless Charging Alarm Clock Our alarm clock died in the move, so I wanted to find a replacement that had a more modern look to it.  This one works as a Bluetooth speaker & a wireless charging station, so I can just set my phone on top of it before bed.  My husband also appreciates that the LED light has a dimmer on it so it isn’t obtrusive when you’re trying to fall asleep.

Over-The Sink Roll-Up Drying Rack My parents have a very small dishwasher in their house, so we end up washing more than half of our things by hand.  After realizing that my mom didn’t have a drying rack, I ordered this one for her – you can place it over the sink or on the counter and it rolls up so you can easily store it without taking up too much cupboard space.

Detangling Hair Brush My daughter has been growing her hair this summer and it’s gotten so long that it’s a bit of a challenge to manage her natural waves (especially after swimming).  I bought this detangling brush for her to use when we’re camping, but she loves it so much, it’s become an everyday essential.  If you have young kids with sensitive scalps, I highly recommend giving this a try!

Waterproof Sneakers This was another item I ordered after our beach trip when I realized I needed a shoe that I could go in & out of the water in that still had good traction to it.  These look & feel just like sneakers, but they are made from a lightweight, quick-drying material so you can walk through creeks, puddles & along the riverbank or beach front.  Because they’re waterproof, they’re super-easy to clean…just rinse out with water & let dry in the sun!  I ordered my usual size & they it perfectly.

Stainless Steel Tube Squeezers Although these are intended for use on toothpaste, I specifically ordered them because I have several beauty & skincare products that come in tubes that make it hard to get all the product out of (specifically this makeup primer, this exfoliating scrub & this face sunscreen).  Because these are more expensive products, I want to make sure I’m getting my money’s worth & squeezing out every last drop – so these handy tools are a must-have!

Laundry Bar Soap I’ve been learning so much from my mom since we moved in with them and one of the things she recently showed me was how she hand-washes clothing.  I ordered this bar soap to practice her method with and I’m amazed by the results!  She gets one edge of the bar soap wet and then lightly rubs on the area that needs cleaning (if it’s a less fragile material, you can rub the fabric against itself to really work out the stain).  Then she takes a clean, damp cloth and presses it into the garment until it’s completely clean.

Nail File Buffer Set Every time I buy a random nail file at the drugstore, I end up being unhappy with the grit or find that it isn’t exactly what I wanted.  So I was happy to find this set on Amazon for such a great price – you get 3 different files that are great for shaping and 3 different buffers for eliminating ridges, smoothing & adding shine.

Refrigerator Organizer Bins One of the things in the house that causes us the biggest headache is the refrigerator – trying to store enough food for the 6 of us, especially when 3 of us have specific dietary needs, is a real challenge.  I finally ordered some more of these organizer bins for my parents to keep their things separate (so my kids don’t eat them!) and so everything is easier to see at a quick glance.

Liquid Collagen Supplement My hair has been falling out like crazy lately, so I’ve been researching what I can do to improve it & I learned that liquid collagen is absorbed in the body so much better than the powder version I’d previously been using.  This supplement is actually a combination of both Biotin & Collagen so it’s specifically formulated for hair & nail growth.  I just started using it and will keep you posted on how it goes.

🥀 [WILTED ROSE] How good is your OC at meeting deadlines? What motivates them? 

Extremely good. I’ve said it often that Kendis main (sole, jkjk ... or am I) is stubbornness -- but I don’t think I can fully express how much so. It isn’t even the whole ‘if you looked up the word, you’d find her picture’. If stubbornness had an avatar, it would be Kendis. That is her motivation -- and often supplemented by passion and spite (oh hey, her other personality trait). Dogged and drive is Kendis Crawforod-Louel to a T (to their own deteriment at times ...)

🌹 [ROSE] Does your OC believe in true love? Why? 

No. Yes. Not in the traditional soulmate/star-crossed lovers sense. And not in the there can only be one sense. I don’t know how to explain it --like they don’t. BUT they believe you can be soo truly, ardently, unrepentantly devoted to someone(s). That you can love someone(s) with your whole heart that can shift/shape you. And it doesn’t have to solely be romantic. 

It’s kind of hard not to with their parents -- whether you mean og Kendis’ parents that are cute as fuck and still sweet on each other years later (even if they sometimes have sex with other people). Or Rebecca for as hurtful as she is one cannot deny she broke irreparably after Rookt tied. Or even her parents in kotsam, where Isabella is a great mom, who has a full life, but there feels like sometimes there is a ghost lurking behind her.

How can one not? Also OG Kendis and TWC Kendis has Austyn in their background and that’s .... yeah. And EXILE Kendis had Syfyn. And yeah.

Unlikely. LMAO. If they’re doing so, it isn’t random, it’s because they know what they’re doing. Most, if not all, versions of Kendis are wilderness trained.

Are they a joke to you? Fun!

Forest/woods. There are many places -- because Kendis is like a bear (hehe) in that whole gonna stop and take it in when I’m wowed by something lovely, but that’s usually the most likely.

Probably not at all??? Kendis is my foodie. They’d try anything at least once.

Probably not hours but they would definitely spend some time. A couple maybe.

For most Kendis’ it is losing Austyn. For exile Kendis probably losing Syfyn, Tristan, and their family. And maybe that whole purge on the magic folk situation.

Highly. Minus the fact that they’re fairly in shape, and most Kendis’ are of of the supernatural variety so pain and endurance process is different than a human, cue the fact that they’re spitefully stubborn. Kendis would put with a lot for what they wanted and then minimize/brush off the aftermath.

🌸 [CHERRY BLOSSOM] Does your OC believe in legends/myths? 

Kendis is a skeptical optimist. Not quite the Scully. She’ll believe if she sees it. Or she’s done enough research on it to satisfy herself. But experience (sometimes) guides her. So, a Kendis living with myths and legends would be open to considering new ones. 

🌷 [TULIP] What is your OC's favourite flower and colour?

I don’t know they have a favorite FLOWER (I need to ponder) -- but their tend to like pothos plants. Favorite color(s) are fandango pink, shades of purple, gold, and red. There are probably others but off the top of my head ...

4 How does your detective feel about the other members of the team’s reactions to the budding (some more than others) romance between your detective and their LI?

I think either of them care, lmao. I feel Val might care a touch more than Kendis -- 1. because Nate is Adam's bff and they know Nate isn't their biggest fan 2. It might give them some insider tips (though by it, mostly Felix. In truth, Felix's opinion would be the only one they really care about. Though, they're probably a bit curious about Mason's pov lmao. Just because it's ... Mason lol).

Kendis is of the mind that the peanut gallery can say what they want but also should be mindful of what they say because it's not their relationship??

(Though but both are like WHAT budding romance qwerwa lmao)

8 Does your detective view the team as a “found family” at this point, or are they still hesitant? And to either way, why?

Man. My characters have trust issues lmao.

Val: The only one Val might see as family is Felix, and even with him they're not there yet. Family doesn't really leave them with the most steady feelings -- it's not a reliable term. Verda's family is probably the first one they've really had an inside look to a happy dynamic. So it's definitely not a thought in their head. Especially since half of UB doesn't like them/doesn't care too much for them (though Mason is slowly getting there. Like fungus).

I will say Felix including them in the whole family dynamic made them feel a bit warm, in book 2.

Kendis: I think it helps that I gave them distant (mostly because of Rebecca) but caring relatives and a closeness to Verda's family, so they don't have the urge to latch on to UB. So they definitely see UB as a family, but not so much herself as a part of that. At least a strong part of it. She is aware that some members of UB does seem them as such (Nate, Farah) ... she doesn't refute that, and appreciates their affection, but it's also like slow your roll. At this point they're her teammates and she's very fond of them.

11 What’s a random thing that you love about your detective’s and their Unit Bravo best friend’s friendship?

Val and Felix: Gremlins. They match each other's energies. If anything, Felix encouages Val to be !!! in a more joie de vivre way and less of a trash panda way. They'll be delightful and hectic.

Kendis and Adam: How unexpectedly similar they can be. I mean aside of their massive equal stubborness .. or because of it: they're both dedicated, determined, and organized. And yes, obsessively stubborn. Kendis at first glance doesn't seem like she would be such and especially not at the level with Adam but their mutual 'my work has value'ness -- and Farah being like ugh, another Adam is always so funny to me (as is their twin glares).

I'm looking forward to them ribbing each other, because we know A has a sense of humor and peeps out when he's comfortable, and Kendis loves to tease.

Does your muse initiate a lot of physical contact?

Kendis: No. Well, it depends. Maybe mild to moderate amount. It’s usually the bro sort of contact. An occasional punch on the shoulder,a shove with her shoulder, a high five. She isn’t a huge snuggler but she really does like to snuggle Cyrus, so to accomodate both, she does need to jump the gun and wrangle him into being small spoon or letting them octopus him as per is comfortable for them. It is weird, but Cy’s embrace doesnt make them feel AS suffocated as they might for most people, so they tend to lean on the more moderate side with him. But more in the type/amount than frequency.

Riquie: A fair amount. She could do with out but she likes it. 

Reuben: ROFLMAO. Via VIOLENCE? No. Purposefully, no. Accidentally ... maybe.

Xhyera: With the right people. She’s more on the mild part than Kendis. Unlike Kendis she doesn’t feel as clausterphobic, but it’s more of a matter that it just never occurred to her. Growing up wasnt a huge physical contact place. But she likes it. It’s important to be careful where and with who, and she’s mindful with that. 

Surina: Yes! She likes hugs. It isn’t like a lot a lot, but I’d go with a fair amount with her too. Maybe a touch more than Riquie.Like I don’t see Riquie really doing subconcious casual touching too much, unless there is familiarity, but I feel Rina MIGHT. 

Naveen: Eh. Noooo. Unless it’s for a point.

Does your muse steal clothing from their partner?

Kendis: Kendis is very stylish -- luckily Cyrus is no slouch. So, sure. On occasion. Probably like his jacket. Kendis is more likely to force something onto him bc they’re proprietary. 

Riquie: No. (Well, maybe a scrunchie or a fun bracelet) She would definitely be open to Az wearing her clothes.

Reuben: Surprisingly, yes. But in particularly scenarios. Like when he’s staying with Wei during [redacted]. Once when he was Sidestep.

Xhyera: No. Why would Sabir do that to himself? (And re: Nikke, why would Xhee do that to HERSELF??)

Surina: No. At least not at this point. And probably not much later on, as Surina and Morgan are pretty different re: style.

Um, hi! About your ocs, I really love when you post about them. I can't know which IF they are in detail (I have a bad habit I don't play demos because if I like I'll suffer waiting and I'm really bad keeping tabs on projects, so I just play everything when released), but they shine for themselves! So... If your OC's needed make their ROs forget about them (not for wanting it but someone/life forcing it for whatever reason in which knowing them could be the RO's end because god knows being the hero often sucks like it or not) and the only thing they could let the ROs keep was a little detail about themselves either something psychical or a little sidenote on their minds (like a thing they liked, a random phrase, the impulse to do something they could only do with/for each other and the ROs don't understand of where this comes) what could it be? Or maybe they could prefer let nothing behind at all? I'll let you decide which OCs talk about if you want to try it because I'm really bad making decisions... Plus I would love to read about any of them. I hope you can have fun writing, I don't remember the last time I wrote something so I understand a little about wanting to get back at it. First of all, this is so dang sweet. Seeing this made me smile. And I just couldn't touch this because I get really awkward about direct compliments like this -- it is like lookin at the sun, cannot do it. Too bright, too much, but the light is much appreciated <3

This is hard, and making me sad! But let's see ...:

Callen Jeune (one of my Speaker MCs)

I'm going with this being a forced magical scenario; or something where a villain is like this needs to happen, or else. I think Callen would lean toward not leaving anything behind, period. She would be mad as FUCK about the entire situation; however, overall, I feel that this is either a situation she would want to handle on her own. And wouldn't want to worry about run ins from her loved ones. Plus Li is Li (and the Cowles are the Cowles), and Sebastian is a detective. Leaving hints is just asking for trouble.

THAT BEING SAID, Callen would be very tempted with Lily. She and Lily has history. Lily was not only a crush but an old friend; maybe even a first love. Losing that connection (AGAIN) would get under her skin, she wouldn't want to do it. It's not saying that it would be easier to let Seb go over Lily -- but the frustration at circumstances being out of her hands again. And this time in a worse way. I think she could manage to keep to her decision, BUT ....

Anouck Rhys (Fallen Light MC)

Anouck doesnt have an RO (as of yet), I'm still feeling things out -- but thinking on their reaction re: their mother vs their reaction re: leaving their brother behind, also thinking on how she is as a PERSON, I'd say, it really depends on the circumstance.

I think Anouck (and that is a heavy emphasis as I know them the least of the four on the list) would go with an option of keeping the most distance, ergo leaving nothing behind. Especially if doing so would keep them and their beloved safe by whatever caused this memory wipe curse. THAT BEING SAID, if leaving a clue would allow them to have their cake and eat it too (like do the heroic sacrifice but then calculate a way out of this shit situation), then they'd definitely go for it. But it would be something subtle. Something easily dismissable by everyone -- maybe even the RO, at first, but able to be solved/unlocked in the right bit of nostalgia.

Kendis Crawford-Louel (a KOTSAM MC/various RPgs)

The funniest thing about this is Kendis is my most written character, but I am least certain on what their ass would do. Kendis has huge, I want my beloved to be happy energy. So, though it would break their heart, they would probably go for leaving nothing behind. Because the wondering and yearning, the missing something not there is painful -- she knows this experience well, and would not wish it on anyone they care about.

Especially when that someone is Cyrus (oh, my baby Cyrus). Given his own family issues. HOWEVER, Kendis is also rather impulsive and a touch egotistical, so unless she was VERY set on the idea of not leaving something, they could turn around and just like do so last minute. But I am leaning towards leaving nada behind for them.

Kadir would leave something, probably a phrase. Likely something along the lines of, "I trust you'll find me." Because he might not have must dependence on the reliability and goodness of people, but he trusts Roz. (And I now I've mae myself really emotional).
