I just recently started watching the Harry Potter series and I knew Dumbledore's (Michael Gambon) voice sounded familiar and it finally dawned on me that it's the same actor who voices The Prophet in The Elder Scrolls Online.

The demo for "Great God Grove" is really cool BTW. Really strong establishment for this game's setting and tone and story. Character and environment design is killer but that's a given considering it's a LimboLane joint. I've already got some capital-t "Thoughts" about where I think the plot is gonna go that will either make me sound very silly or sound like history's wisest prophet. LOL

My opinions on Lottie ships because she's shipped with basically everyone (my qualifications are that I'm a lesbian)

Btw I have no clue if some of these are the real ship names but I just chose what feels right to me

(🦝) Lottienat:

- I LOVE LOTTIENAT. First season I didn't see it much, I had heard a bunch about them but I didn't personally ship it until season two, I think they have soo much chemistry and some pretty gay interactions (THE BATH SCENE). Such a cool ship though, and I love them in the adult storyline as well. Nat's whole "is that what we are?" line is very interesting, because it could be interpreted as they were more or less than that and I think they're so confusing and so interesting and I need more of them in S3 so bad.

(🐑) Lottielee:

- I adore Lottielee with my whole heart, I can never choose between Lottielee and Lottienat. Lottielee is sooo special to me and was my first ever yjs ship. I think their whole dynamic could've been so interesting to explore, and Laura Lee haunting Lottie all the way to her adult years is so interesting. Laura Lee was the one making Lottie believe she wasn't crazy and I think that's so beautiful. Rich girl and Christian girl just make sense I swearrr. I have soo much I could say about them so lmk if you want my in depth thoughts on that.

(🐻) Shautie:

- I don't have many thoughts about this ship besides how much I love the ship name. I think they could have an interesting dynamic, Shauna being more of a leader in a general way and Lottie being a leader in the wilderness/cult way. Ugh and the whole Lottie taking a beating from Shauna so she could let out her pain was so emotional. I think I could definitely explore them more. I'd definitely have to read more about them to actually have a big opinion, but two sad brown eyed girls always make for a good looking duo.

(🐰) Jackielot:

- Honestly, I donttt ship this one very much. I think I could probably hear someone out if they talked a little more about it but I can't really think of any scenes that could lead to that, and I don't believe that their dynamic would be too interesting or unique, and there's definitely better ones, but I don't hate it! I still think there could be potential, and if they had maybe explored it a little more I'm sure I could see it better.

(🐺) Tailot:

- I definitely see these two as more best friends but I wouldn't completely put this ship off the table. Taivan will always be my favorite Tai ship of course but I still think these two could have pretty cute potential. I think their dynamic is a realllyy good one though, the non-believer and the prophet cult girl hellooo omg. I might just have a bad memory (I usually only focus on the ships I personally ship) but I don't remember very many scenes between them besides for the ones where Lottie is defending Shauna against her. Still though, I think they're cool asf.

Oh boy do we!

Firstly, because Grace's snakes are Rattlesnakes, she is a hot tempered girl. Which fits because so is Ruth! Grace is extremely protective of what's hers or what she thinks is hers. She has two little rattles coming out of the bottom of her head and whenever she feels threatened, real or imagined, they rattle very loudly.

Grace was a priestess to the Goddess Webby, making her the only person in our main characters born on Webbys land (by a technicality) during her priesthood she was struggling with her sexuality. As far as Grace was concerned, she was forced to remain a virgin in order to be a priestess. One of the other gods whispered in her ear to explore and, being a bit deluded as usual, Grace slept with a man, quickly realizing she was a lesbian. Her grave mistake though was sleeping with him in Webbys temple. The God who tricked Grace cursed her with being a Gorgon and out of belief her Goddess abandoned her, she fled from the temple and went into hiding.

Eventually she finds her way to The Isle of Gorgons, but I'll save that for the actual fics ;3

Yeah, in my true headcanons Johnny was blinded instead of Kenshi(bc Johnny getting blinded instead is underrated) but I kept it out because I thought you guys wouldn't like it. Also, Johnny has his powers but instead of green it's red(bc Johnny with red powers is canon but very underrated). But I finally decided to come clean and put my headcanons in full.

Coldstar Headcanons, Part VII: The Truth

(That actually sounds like a badass title😆)

• Johnny is a descendant of Scandinavia and Greece and the sole surviving member the Karlatun Clan. (Canon doesn't have anything about the quote unquote "Mediterranean clan" Johnny descended from so I created a name myself)

• Johnny spoils Bi-Han. He loves to give him gifts, at least once a day. Such is the life of a celebrity. It can be anything, really. He also loves physical touch. I mean, he is a blind man. Johnny specifically loves it when Bi-Han guides him, with his hand on his shoulder or bicep. It makes him feel very present, especially with the complete loss of his sight. And that's something he cherishes.

• It's only when one of them is badly wounded, that Bi-Han says "I love you" to Johnny- when they are healed, Johnny beams from that point on. One of these moments was when Johnny was blinded by Mileena and stabbed by Shao(that's a story for another day I'm afraid).

• Ever since Johnny came to Outworld, he has been having prophetic dreams of Raiden wielding lightning, Kenshi blindfolded and levitating Sento ahead of him, Liu Kang and his cold hands, Bi-Han and a demonic shadow-like figure constantly looming over him, himself and burning hot fire. 

• Bi-Han is protective of Johnny but he's even more so in an unfamiliar place. After the Mileena incident, he will not let Johnny out of his sight and glares at anyone who tries to talk to him.

• Rather than Kenshi, Johnny is the one blinded by Mileena. It's because of Johnny's prophetic dreams that he decided to pull Mileena away from Kenshi, allowing himself to be blinded.

• After getting blinded, Johnny gained a unique "radar sense" that allows him to perceive the proximity and arrangement of objects around him. He cannot, however, discern pictures or video images, and he can only guess at colors based on the amount of heat they are absorbing or reflecting. (Johnny is basically MK's Daredevil)

• Rose(Johnny's mom) was the very woman who taught Johnny how to do that.

• After getting blinded, Johnny matured considerably, losing much of his earlier arrogance and shortsightedness. In the process, he becomes an overall well rounded and serious character, although his penchant for humor remains mostly intact.

• After gaining his powers, Johnny was sent to Seido for several months(this was before Bi-Han was courting Johnny, he started courting him the day he returned)much to the displeasure and anger of Bi-Han and Kenshi.

• Sometimes, Johnny's fellow kombatants forget Johnny is blind- leading to some funny moments similar to A:TLA when the Gaang forgets Toph is blind(perks of being a multifandom😎)

Raiden and Ashrah come in and Raiden happily says, "We found a printer to make our posters!"

Kung Lao replied with, "Hey, I thought making the missing Syzoth posters was my job. I've been working all day on my Syzoth!"

The Chakram wizard shows them a badly, but also cutely, done drawing of Syzoth.

"It's not bad," Kung Lao beams, "but also not good." Kung Lao deflates.

"C'mon, Ashrah your being too harsh!" Johnny began, "it looks just like him to me!"

"Thank you! I worked very-" than Kung Lao remembered who said that, "why do you have to do this?"

So recently I’ve been seeing a lot of people (mainly on HOTD tick-tock) say that one of the reasons they are ‘team Black’ in the show is because those characters such as Daemon, Rhaenyra and Corleys tend to be more in touch with and happy to embrace there Valyrian customs and heritage. While characters like Aegon, Aemond and Helaena are just blond Hightowers who don’t know what it means to be ‘true Targaryens’ or have been ‘raised wrong’ in terms of there Targaryen heritage.

(Please note that this is going to be a longish post that will be discussing lore from ASOIAF found in books and other material such as the world of ice and fire but because most of this discourse is happening around the show I’ll be discussing the characters as they are displayed in the show.)

Now there is so much to unpack in that but I think the most import thing to talk about is what Valyria and that culture truly was. Because yeah the dragon riding and blood magic is very cool but on the flip side Valyria was an empire that conquered the known world through bloody conquest. Then enslaved there new and unwilling subjects and put them to work in mines and in a hundred other horrible places. These mines were death sentences for the slaves who worked there as they were forced to dig for gold and jewels beneath volcanos such as the fourteen flames, where the Valyrian built there capital city’s on top of those fourteen volcanoes. And it’s suspected that they kept them from erupting by using blood magic and sorcery which was fed by there slaves who were unwilling sacrifice in those rituals.

In the books and show itself the Roynar who are the ancestors of much of Dorne and House Martell itself came to Westeros because they were fleeing Valyrian conquest. The free city of Braavos was founded by slaves who escaped Valyria, it’s the main reason the city is one of the few places in Essos that is staunchly opposed to slavery.

Now while this is technically unconfirmed (this is info given to Arya from a Faceless man) it’s believed that the cult of the Faceless Men was founded in the Valyrian slave mines because each slave was praying for death, so as a kindness the first Faceless Men gave it to them.

Then we have the incest. Believed to have been practiced to keep the dragon riding bloodlines strong, controlled and kept in certain families. Now I don’t think this is a hot take but incest is bad. In any context it’s bad. Please don’t go around snogging your relatives.

The blood magic is interesting as it appears that in ASOIAF most of the magic systems whether they be Green seeing and tied to the Old Gods or fire magic and tied to Valyria are based in blood. For example a prevalent theory is that the early Valyrian’s tampered with there blood so that it was easier for them to bond with dragons. Personally I don’t think there’s anything special in Valyrian blood. I think they probably did mess with it as we can see through some Targ stillborn come out having dragon like features, but at the end of the day anyone in ASOIAF can do some level of magic as displayed in characters like Marwin the Mage (who is most likely half Hightower btw) and even Jaime Lannister who had a prophetic dream but only around a magical thing which was a weirwood stump. And the Targs (particularly the early ones) were always around dragons which in this case are the magical objects along with having messed up blood magic blood. Which is cool but can’t be good for them. Also Green Seer magic seems to involve cannibalism which again is bad!

Also the doom of Valyria occurred because these people decided to build there major city atop 14 active super volcanos and then dug into the super volcanoes thinking everything would be fine and dandy. They were killed because of there own hubris.

Which is how we get onto the idea that the Hightower’s somehow ‘infected’ and ‘poisoned’ the Targaryen bloodline and ruined everything for everyone. Which is a very dangerous line of thinking even when we’re just discussing a book series. It leads into ideas of blood purity which again are disgusting and horrible and should never be considered good. Ever.

The Hightowers are not the reason the Tags rotted away. They were always rotting. Also Viserys made the choice to marry into the Nobel House with the most ties to the Faith of the Seven. We can argue about how much influence Otto had on the matter and obviously he did but at the end of the day Viserys still made that decision. He could have put his foot down and said no but he didn’t. Like he married a fantasy catholic and now everyone is shocked that the fantasy catholic is serious about her religion.

Also the reason Aegon, Aemond, Daeron and Helaena ‘act like Hightowers’ is because Alicent raised those kids not Viserys. Whatever you think about Alicents parenting she at the bare minimum parented. Viserys ignored his children from his second marriage in favour of trying to sooth his guilt over murdering Aemma and he focused his efforts on Rhaenyra and her children. So yes ‘the Green’ kids act like Hightowers because guess what Alicent was the only one who put any effort into raising them and raised them the only way she knew how, as Hightower. But like also her kids all ride dragons, Alicents grandkids are bonded to dragons. They are Targaryens. Even without the dragons they would still be Targaryens. And if we followed that logic than every Targ born after the dance wouldn’t be a ‘True Targaryen’ because they didn’t have dragons or were half Martell or Blackwood and those families have ‘poisoned’ the Targ bloodline. I cannot stress enough how gross that line of thinking is even when we’re using it to discuss a book series.

And the characters in the story who are the most fascinated by the lost glories of Valyria such as Viserys and Daemon are focusing on the lost prestige of there ancestors dead empire. They either don’t think about the horrors of what that place was, or there fine with them which says a lot about there characters and the way they view themselves and the people they rule.

I repeat Valyria was not a nice place. It was not a good place. It’s an interesting place and it’s affects on the Targaryens are fascinating and I would love to learn more about it but it was an evil empire.

The closest thing we have to Valyria remaining in the books is the free city of Volantis. Which is an old colony of Valyria, still has none dragon riding descendants of Valyria living there and is the biggest slave city outside of slavers bay. Volantis is a horrible place.

My point is placing Valyrian and in a sense Targaryen customs and heritage on a pedestal means that we ignore all the dodgey and horrifying stuff that entails or at the very least don’t look at it critically and that’s not good.

And yes this is only a book series so we don’t need to be so serious, but I would make the argument that when one of your major reasons for supporting one side in a conflict is because there more ‘pure anything’ than another then you need to take a step back and reevaluate.

I'm like lvl7 and still in Haven. The world is too big. I haven't left the first starting area yet. I keep unlocking new areas from the war room but too overwhelmed to go dip my toes in them yet. Idk what I'm doing, man. I'm losing approval left and right what's happening these missions never fucking end

At least Vivienne seems to like me and the choices I make. Roleplaying the protagonist as a snobby noble is a fun idea, they said. Think of all the character development potential they said. It will get you mad puss they claimed. Well now Sera doesn't wanna fuck me as much, Blackwall is a goddamn bore who got pissy when I said "I enjoy being worshiped" as if my protag isn't literaly the second coming of christ! Cullen is a fuckboy without the fuck, why did he stutter when I mentioned celibacy and blush like a maiden? also why the fuck would anyone tries seducing someone else by the mention of celibacy vows? The protagonist rizz game is atrocious but thankfully everyone is too distracted by the perfect tits and pretty face to notice.

Casaandra is still going strong ngl she's mad cool, all romance scenes have been W after W after W. She also doesn't mind my character's god complex and I think she might be down to join the overzealous worshippers fanclub if I play my cards right.

I also forgot Solas's entire existence and got jumped scared by him while picking herbs around the camp. I forgor I stripped him from all of his armour and weapons, left him in his PJs amidst a snowy mountian hill bc I parked him permanently outside a hut the second Vivienne joined my party. How come they're both bald is it like a great mage requirement or a new fashion trend amdist the circles

ive been playing a shit ton of darkest dungeon lately and here's my opinion on which black butler characters would be which class!!

darkest dungeon is really cool btw!! it kind of has the same elements of black butler (fucked up protag, supernatural creatures, mental health being explored in a neat way, and the running theme of everyone being the absolute worst besides like two or three people!). i really recommend it if you love sadistic video games with eldritch horrors!!

sebastian: BUT SERIOUSLY- for sebby, i'd like to think maaaybe occultist? there really isn't any classes close to a demon so someone who can summon eldritch horrors to fight other eldritch horrors seems like it'd make sense.

mey rin: musketeer. obvi. she go pew pew!! and also has the WORST ACCURACY IN THE WORLD- (this is personal salt, let me live. been so close to having party wipes)

bard: honestly. highwayman. he has one(1) attack that could count as an explosive. also they kinda have the same haircut!! i think it fits also theres no real explosives in the base game sadly. UNLESS you wanna talk enemies- then there's brigand vvulf who blows things the fuck up because he can! i think that fits him too! kind of!! since brigand is kind of a massive asshole.

finny: OH GOD,,, i had a toughie with this one buuuut- im probably going to go with bounty hunter or leper because of finny's SHEER strength. he's just busted man and you can beat the entire game with leper sooooo yeah! the mean part of me wanted to say abomination but again, thats mean but it's extremely wild to me that they pretty much have the same Tragic Backstory of experimented on for the lols and now just have to deal with it. at least finny got the better end of the stick! poor abomination...

now the reapers! (in order of appearance)

grelle: hellion! she is the biggest girlboss in the game so ofc she'd fit grelle, come on now. the hellion class is extremely broken powerful and puts out an insane amount of damage! a part of me wants to argue grave robber but it doesn't have a lot of flashy and powerful moves- this is mainly considering grelle is the 3rd strongest character in the series iirc.

william: OH ANOTHER HARD ONE- but i think he'd fit being a shieldbreaker! it's a bit of a stretch but hear me out- it's mainly the weapon and it's capabilities that would make william fit the class the most!! also her defensive end seeing as william being pretty good at Not Getting His Shit Wrecked or at least as badly (book of circus is def something i needa rewatch)

undertaker: oh this bitch. i'm probably going to go with the prophet boss! the prophet defied the ancestor by speaking facts and wouldn't die no matter what the ancestor did, kind of like how taker is with the dispatch. also the fact they're both blind but hit like a fucking truck fits!!

ronald: my BOY! now HE'D be grave robber!! he's not really too strong and kinda squishy but can still be formidable if not taken seriously. also the mental image of him hitting an undead with a pickaxe to the face is funny to me-

eric: either highwayman or man-at-arms! both classes are good at taking out a lot of enemies at once and eric is pretty good at killing people <3

alan: OUGH another hard one- i think character wise (more than attack wise), he'd def fit the leper. the leper goes through it and so does alan yet they still kick ass and get the job done!

othello: this dummy! i think antiquarian would fit! antiquarians are support heroes 100% and then they hit like a truck...! a toy truck...! a toy truck that's a stuffie...! unless you get a hit off with "nervous stab" but it's not really all that worth it. OH and the move "protect me" that's pretty much the same as othello using grelle as a meat shield fits.

soooo some thoughts about the station eleven adaptation

i consider station eleven to be My Favorite Book Of All Time™ so i was prepared to disapprove all the inevitable changes and completely hate this but honestly... i overall liked it.

getting my one main complaint out of the way, i liked basically everything except the prophet plotline. which is so funny because it was a huge deal in the book. but i don't get the point of the prophet in the adaptation at all. like... he gathers all these children and sends them to bomb places for what reason exactly? and then in the end it's just... fine? like "oops you killed people but you were just sad so now you can just run off with all these kids AND btw alex is going with you"? maybe i'm missing something (and if y'all have thoughts on why it makes sense, pls let me know) but it seems stupid to me tbh.

like, when they introduced the fact that he was using the station eleven story as a ~*~ prophecy ~*~ and a way to manipulate these kids into following him, i thought it was going to lead into a message about "hey, art can be a great way to distract yourself from everything, but don't let your favorite shit so much that it distorts your sense of reality". and it seemed to be going in that direction when so many things went wrong in kirsten's plot because she was too into her book: the play killing frank, jeevan getting attacked by the wolf because he was getting her book, when kirsten insisted the symphony go to the golf course so she could get the book she stashed there & it ended with sarah being there when gil died & getting heartbroken. and then i think that's a huge part of miranda's story, she used station eleven to cope but it also made her miss out on things & played a part in destroying her relationship with arthur... but then the prophet just got away with everything! no consequences! like i'm all for ~*~ redemption ~*~ but what did this man do to be redeemed? nothing. you experienced trauma? cool, so did everyone else, it's the apocalypse. i'm not saying just kill him off, but he sent small children off to be suicide bombers ffs!!!! i just don't get it.

ok AND i'm mad that sarah died but that's just me letting my personal attachment to her character get in the way. semi-related, i'm also miffed that august, my beloved star-trek-loving violin-playing nerd, was demoted to a side character, BUT i liked how they expanded on kirsten's relationship with alex, and i thought their story was interesting (until alex ran off with the prophet at the end. again, i did not vibe with that. if she had just stayed at the airport i think that would've been a good end to their story — alex has never had a life outside of the symphony, she wants to grow into her own but she doesn't get to have much say because kirsten insists on being director and calling the shots; i think it would've been a satisfying ending if alex stayed at the airport and helped with some sort of theater group with elizabeth or even clark)

but there's a lot that the adaptation added that i really liked. for starters, i fucking loved how they adapted miranda's character. she was great in the book but she was probably my favorite character in the series.

and ok at first i was upset they got rid of the whole ~*~ the young kids are lucky because they don't remember the early days of the apocalypse when everything was at its worst ~*~ concept (which i think tied in with the prophet in the original book so it didn't make as much sense here since they completely changed that plotline) and had these vivid flashbacks to the first however-many-days of the apocalypse as kirsten experienced them. BUT. i really liked that they made jeevan kirsten's caretaker in the beginning. i always felt like jeevan's plot was so separate from everything in the book, and it was cool to see him more ~*~ connected ~*~ to everything. and as a sucker for a good reunion scene i totally cried when they reunited at the end.

i may or may not have more thoughts later but my overall opinion is that it was good. it could have been better, but i enjoyed it. if you're a fan of the book who's on the fence about watching it, i'd say give it a shot. you may like it more or less than i do depending on what you liked most about the original book.
