Ok, I think I cracked the code over why I love Japanese City Pop so much. When I was younger, I would always watch The Price is Right with my granny when she would babysit me. I've been listening to a lot of the cues for TPIR because I was trying to find a specific song that was stuck in my head. I realized that a lot of those synth-y jazzy music cues are very similar to City Pop. I think that's why it triggers a sense of nostalgia in me (and many others possibly) who have never been to Japan let alone grew up in it.

Anyway this could all be utter nonsense I'm very high.
