Multiple Myeloma March: Week 3 Update

I haven't updated about the Multiple Myeloma March in a bit so here's a short recap of how we are doing. Here's a link to my original post.

By the Numbers:

Total Donations: $1,522!

Ranking: #7 in the Top Ten Fundraisers

Steps Taken: 140,475 of 200K in sweltering Wheatley (70% done!)

News: I asked if we could join the Windsor-Essex March team so that our donations will used to support a specific Multiple Myeloma project at the University of Windsor. Dr. Lisa Porter's project is titled, "Establishing a Multiple Myeloma Drug Screening Platform to Predict Patient Response to Therapy". I'll share more information about the project in a future post. (The University of Windsor is my local university.) I think universities partnering with Myeloma Canada and local March teams is a really neat idea.

Long story short, Noah and Connie are together now! The group were on a day trip in Windenburg and were taking a nice afternoon walk in Lykke Centre. They stopped mid-conversation and some big news was announced! What a wonderful surprise!

woke up extra early today to visit the Infinity Nikki pop up event which is super far from where I live, but the set up was breathtaking af and I got to meet so many Nikki fans here so it’s worth it🙂‍↕️

apologies for my inactivity and to the replies/asks i haven't gotten back to. i got the sickest i've been in a long time over the winter vacation and things have been a bit busier for me as of late. but, i figured i would ease back into posting with this mini diary/photo dump of a memorable day!

my partner and i spent our time off work together dressing up and having a bunch of tea sessions.. i finally had an opportunity to wear my new tweed coat with rose buttons out and about.

and of course we brought along my most dear and beloved best friend usakumya! i think by this point she has been to nearly all of the best afternoon tea spots in NYC. we're going to have to start traveling away from home to show her something new...

this is the JSK with the panel of lace that i was eyeing--actually having seen it in a flatlay photo here on tumblr! super happy to have added it to my wardrobe. as for the coord details: my coat, JSK, blouse, socks and bag are all from baby. the headbow is innocent world, shoes are angelic pretty and my necklaces are from vivienne westwood and tiffany's. i also learned a valuable lesson as to how tea party shoes got their name.. with the uncomfortable lack of sole support i can't imagine doing anything else in them!

the lovely spot we had tea at ended up being a favorite out of many. it was adorned with vintage decor and furniture full of character. there were old postcards and works of art embedded within the glass covering of the table. the chandeliers of teacups, heart dishes and all of the lace doilies made for a very cottagey atmosphere which we loved.

this beautiful porcelain pot of sugar was one of the more interesting ones i've seen, with dried fruit and flowers included!

the star shaped sugar on the chocolate covered strawberries and the frog tea pot were also charmingly cute!!

Despite weather being super gloomy lately, I've been painting with watercolours (under all the lights in my kitchen, he he).

This cute little landscape will be the next postcard-size print reward for my patrons.

dear diary,

guess what? my dream of vacationing in the cutest beach house EVER has come true! it's absolutely adorable. the pastel-colored walls, cute little seashell decorations everywhere, and the view? OH MY GOSH, it's like something out of a postcard. every morning, i wake up to the sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore and the smell of the salty ocean air. i can't believe this is my life now!

yesterday, i went on a private cruise around some of the most beautiful lil islands i have ever seen. the water was so clear, i could see all the way to the bottom! the private island we visited was like a hidden paradise—white sandy beaches, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the most delicious tropical fruit I have ever tasted. i even got to snorkel and see all kinds of colorful fish!

oh, and speaking of the beach, i’ve started learning how to surf! it was a bit tricky at first, but my instructor is super patient and fun. today, i finally managed to stand up on the board and ride a wave all the way to the shore! the feeling of gliding over the water is just indescribable. i can't wait to get even better and maybe even try some tricks soon!

last night, there was a carnival in town! it was so much fun—there were rides, games, and the most amazing food stalls. i had the best time ever eating cotton candy, winning stuffed animals, and riding the ferris wheel. the view from the top was spectacular; you could see the entire beach lit up with colorful lights.

i feel so incredibly grateful and happy with everything that's happening right now. it's like all my dreams are coming true, one by one.

bye bye diary!! i gotta go keep living out my dream life!!

prompt 23 and 24 w/ Levi

It was well known that Levi didn't enjoy going out. Anywhere outside his room was uncharted territory, and he had no desire to light up that gray part of the map. He was content with only occasionally leaving his room for events out in the real world. Other than that, he enjoyed staying in his room. It was his check point and everything about it was comfortably predictable. He didn't expect the human exchange student to understand him so well.

He'd actually expected to only see you several times max, but you kept going out of your way to do things for him, such as delivering him dinner, or slipping a postcard of his favorite character under the door. Each time, he managed to miss you, but he knew it had to be you, because his brothers didn't care about him or his interests enough to do that for him. The first time he worked up enough courage to thank you, he accidently caught you midway through your act of kindness. Levi felt as if he was he was about to die of embarrassment, but he carried through with the plan and slammed the door on you. He regretted it afterwards, so the next day, he opened the door again to apologize. He hadn't expected you to invite him out to the anime cafe that had just opened nearby. The rest was history.

From then on, he thought of you as another check point of his. Anywhere you went, he felt more comfortable. So, when you wanted to go out, he couldn't help but feel the desire to tag along. He'd tried staying in, but he always felt left out. Because of this, he ended up going with you more often than not. He saw lots of things that he didn't get to see much by your side, such as unfamiliar shops and restaurants that he didn't even know existed. Sometimes, a brother or two of his might be there, but since Levi would be with you, they didn't need to come.

Being out made him nervous, but being alone with you made him even more so. A couple times, the two of you were mistaken to be out on a date. Every time that happened, he felt as if might explode from the overwhelming feelings within. He loved to spend time with you, but you contributed to the building internal pressure he often experienced. Often times, just looking at you caused him to grow shy. You were so gorgeous, and gave him your undivided attention. The intense way you gazed at him while he rambled just got his heart racing, but he'd be damned again before he told you that.

"Earth to Levi!" You waved a hand in front of his face.

"Mc! Sorry." Levi tucked his D.D.D. in his pocket. It seemed he'd been absentmindedly staring at it while he'd been lost in thought.

"No worries! Our table is ready." The two of you were trying out another restaurant you'd been dying to go to, and as the sucker he was, of course Levi wanted to go with you. He wouldn't let his brothers do it, that was for sure.

"Oh, alright." He followed you through the restaurant, glancing around as he did. It had a very casual, rustic vibe. He sat down across from you at the table for two, and flipped through the menu briefly. You began to talk to him about your next project for your hobby, and he sat and listened carefully. He didn't know how to engage since he didn't know much about what you were talking about, but he could at least ask questions and show you he was interested.

As you were talking, you suddenly stopped and stared at him. He grew nervous under your gaze. "What is it?" He frantically began to wipe his face and straighten his clothes.

"No, it's not that." You leant over the table and swept his bangs aside. You held them there, and clipped them with a couple cute little barrettes. He reached up and touched them.

"What was that for?" He could feel himself growing warm.

"You know how I feel about your hair in your face. You have really pretty eyes, and I hate not being able to see them. Orange is my favorite color for a reason." Levi had to stop and process your words, and once he didn't he had no clue how to respond. You knew just how to get him to feel loved, but so incredibly anxious at the same time. "You don't have to answer that. I just wanted you to know that you're beautiful." You understood him so well, which was part of the reason why the two of you were as close as you were. He found it in him to smile at you without turning bright red.

When the waiter came to ask how the two of you were, and asked if they could get you any drinks, you ordered for the both of you. The two of you got on like a house on fire, because you complimented each other. You knew each other's strengths and weaknesses, and instead if criticizing each other, like Levi's brothers might to him, you did what he couldn't and helped him. He hadn't expected to find such kin in a human he hadn't even intended to get to know, but he was glad that he did.

When I came home from the expo, I found an envelope in my mailbox with what appeared to be Swedish written in the return address! What was it, you may ask?

My Theia Mania postcards from @a-gnosis! They're so freaking cute and the print quality is great, the paper is veeerry slightly embossed so it creates a really nice texture between the lines and the color, I'm in love with them!!

Niko hands over the bag. It’s a cute, pink, petite bag with cat decorations on it. It holds some resemblance to the feline holding it herself.

Grabbing what’s inside, there’s a little drawing with a note attached. It’s written with words and symbols that seem impossible to verbalize, but somehow it’s easy to imagine a certain brunette bringing life to them…
