Multiple Myeloma March: Week 3 Update

I haven't updated about the Multiple Myeloma March in a bit so here's a short recap of how we are doing. Here's a link to my original post.

Steps Taken: 140,475 of 200K in sweltering Wheatley (70% done!)

News: I asked if we could join the Windsor-Essex March team so that our donations will used to support a specific Multiple Myeloma project at the University of Windsor. Dr. Lisa Porter's project is titled, "Establishing a Multiple Myeloma Drug Screening Platform to Predict Patient Response to Therapy". I'll share more information about the project in a future post. (The University of Windsor is my local university.) I think universities partnering with Myeloma Canada and local March teams is a really neat idea.

I was entertaining myself the other week thinking about all the things Nong Nao's been subjected to, and then came up with this little collage idea. going thru the show and collecting some of my favorite (and most memorable!) PatPran ridiculousness for the screencaps in here was v fun hehe.

It's post office bounty time! Been a while, eh? I'm not sure how many of my readers know this but I have a PO Box for a number of purposes, one of which is that if you want to send me postcards or cards or whatnot, you can!

The layout on these was not my finest, I try to group relevant cards together, but sometimes spacing is an issue. In any case, top image is a lovely pair of socks, a gorgeous Discworldy-style sword and lilacs, a worry stone, and a Maryland Crab lucky coin from @shirokou, along with a super fun Hanukkah card (thanks also for the stamps!); also a fun holiday card from -- I'm so bad at handwriting but I believe @traykor, and I loved the car stickers on the inside!

Next up, starting in the upper left, a lovely photo card that I turned over to the text side of so that I'm not showing anyone's faces :) I do have to apologize too, I'd tag you but I thought "tumbalina" was your username and looking at that account I'm not sure it is, but do let me know who you are and I'll drop your name into the post!

Clockwise from left, we have a pretty bird card and fun stickers (I also loved the photo card, and thanks for the giftcard!) from @jadesymb, a new year's card with a lovely "kick ass" sentiment from Inny and Deeks (also I love how you always greet the mail carrier on the envelope!) and a delightfully ghoulish holiday card with more stickers from E in PA (happy to add your username if you drop it).

And finally some more gorgeous holiday cards! Starting with the Hannukatz, top left, from Kris & Josh, and I'm wishing I hadn't covered up the spinning dreidel they're staring at. We got a cute polar bear from @kimmiesue13 -- thank you for including the cryptids in my mailing address, that made me laugh -- and a lovely wreath with some fun Avengers decor inside from W. in CA. Beautiful horses in the snow from @celticjade13 -- thank you for the Hanukkah wishes, Hanukkah cards are hard to find, I should know -- a gorgeous maritime scene from @elopingllama and I promise there will be more Teens On Boats eventually. Lastly, a funny card from Daniel the Tarot Guy, featuring birds looking at a sign that reads "Keep off the Grass" -- I'm sorry for your loss, bud -- and in the center a beautiful folk-art style card from C overseas -- on the flip side of the front of the card, they have outlines so you can cut out the little critters and use them as ornaments, and I just might :)

Thank you all as always for sending me mail to brighten my day even when I am profoundly late in both picking up the mail and sharing it with everyone :)

Seijoh 4 Bedroom Headcanons

oikawa

right after moving to argentina, he got a cute little one-bedroom apartment on a higher floor with a balcony.

he couldn't bring a lot from japan, so his place was bare bones, made him a little sad and lonely the first couple of months. the only decor he had were pictures/polaroids he put up using tape he bought from the corner store

once the athlete paychecks start coming in, he can buy more stuff to make his space feel more like a home like artwork and better lighting

speaking of lighting, he’d layer tf out of it. so not just a statement ceiling light but also clean, modern standing lamps and table lamps too. all have warm toned bulbs.

one of the most prominent things that can be seen around his place are plants! he became a plant daddy so quickly and was super pumped to see them grow. each morning is like a ritual with watering/misting them or moving them around so they can get sun. him taking care of plants gives him another purpose aside form volleyball. reminds him of when he was captain and taking care of his team.

sticks to a color palette of warm and bright tones of beiges, creams, whites, with some grey here and there to compliment the green plants.

you’ll spot a yoga mat and foam roller tucked in the corner

bedsheets are always crisp and 5-star hotel quality. and they smell amazing like lavender/citrusy

this diva sleeps with 10000 pillows bc he needs to feel like he's getting a hug every time he goes to sleep ;(

guys pls he's so touch starved and lonely at this point in his life he just wants someone to hold and sleep next too (maybe that can be u ;) )

iwaizumi

his room started off pretty bare since he had to experience how expensive going to school was in the U.S. plus he lived in a small dorm with little room for decor, made sure his place was close to a large gymnasium in tokyo

he’s the type to keep his space very clean and minimalistic sticking to dark, neutral colors as his palette. it serves to give off a calming and grounding effect that matches his personality imo

for sure has a neat, modest bookshelf filled with sports science books, anatomy guides and a few novels. resting on one shelf is a postcard from argentina that oikawa sent him.

he does not believe in the Big Light™️, only ambient and natural light allowed in his bedroom.

more about his decor, like oikawa he has pictures of his college days, old teammates and family. some plants like ivy and succulents also have their residence about his room. and lastly, a large, singular poster of godzilla that hangs proudly on his wall.

simple bedding, four pillows, matching dark sheets. smells of sandalwood/eucalyptus, he’s got a firm mattress tho :o[ bc it’s better for the back

due to his profession he’s very busy but always makes time to exercise so there are dumbbells and resistance bands safely stored beneath his bed

iwa’s space reflects his disciplined lifestyle but also reveals someone who is sentimental towards his friendships and memories. his bedroom is a place where he can unwind after a long day while staying connected to his passions :’)

matsukawa

his room just looks cozy and effortlessly cool to match his laid-back personality. like he just threw shit together and it worked out perfectly

dark color palette of deep greens, blacks and browns. his decor brings in some complimenting color like red, purple, and yellow

unlike iwaizumi and oikawa, his room is messier but not terrible. his bed is usually unmade and maybe a sweatshirt will be draped over a chair, water cup/bottle collection on his desk. it’s for sure a very lived-in space

the ambiance is lovely, like a perfectly curated nest, the softest, worn sheets and pillows that smell like bergamot and cinnamon paired with soft fairy lights or LED light strips and low music playing in the background, sleeps comes naturally here

blackout curtains are a must, they almost always cover the window in his room so you can really never tell what time it is but that’s fine because he works weird hours at the funeral home and he likes to sleep <3

he’s a gamer™️ imo, so he’s got a nice setup on the desk next to his bed, probably does streaming on the side or always talking to his friends on discord. i just know he’s diamond in valorant and a viper-omen main teehee

honestly his room is entertainment central, fuck a living room. he’s got a decent record player speaker to play his loud ass music, tv to fall asleep to movies/shows, and even a rubix cube he’s solved multiple times with a hidden snack drawer to top it off, you’ll never be bored here

decor consists of some manga volumes, figures/collectables, trinkets (he’s a trinket guy), a lego set and maybe one (fake) plant, and a tapestry blanket hanging on his wall

hanamaki

imo he’s totally a trust fund baby so not just his room but apartment as a whole is just very well styled

he has a fun and eclectic way of decorating with a beautiful harmony of bright whites and greys paired with accents of pastel blues and some pinks

his fashion is peak so he has some pieces on display on a rack with pairs of shoes that he spent a little too much money on smh

has a trendy low platform bed with a very soft duvet, lots of pillows and a gag gift stuffy from mattsun and the sheets hold the sweet, fruity smell of his room spray representing his never ending sweet tooth

the lighting is also heavily ambient and natural but he has a ceiling light that can have the brightness adjusted, light color and tone changed to fit his mood

his “work” space is really just for him to be on discord with mattsun and other online friends on one screen and updating his fashion blog on another. cute junk decorates his desk like a half-drawn doodle, a thrifted lava lamp, and a rubber duck oikawa got him at the ¥100 store in high school

like mattsun, his room is a little messy but more so in an organized chaos way, like he has a piles of PR boxes he has to go through and review in the corner next to his beanbag chair, laundry he has to put away and a stack of magazines in an upcycled crate

makki is the unemployed friend on a tuesday doing some random side quest, one of which is he’s always adding/removing decor from his space to always keep it fresh but there are staple pieces that must remain and they are usually ones with sentimental value (always related to his friends)

apologies for my inactivity and to the replies/asks i haven't gotten back to. i got the sickest i've been in a long time over the winter vacation and things have been a bit busier for me as of late. but, i figured i would ease back into posting with this mini diary/photo dump of a memorable day!

my partner and i spent our time off work together dressing up and having a bunch of tea sessions.. i finally had an opportunity to wear my new tweed coat with rose buttons out and about.

and of course we brought along my most dear and beloved best friend usakumya! i think by this point she has been to nearly all of the best afternoon tea spots in NYC. we're going to have to start traveling away from home to show her something new...

this is the JSK with the panel of lace that i was eyeing--actually having seen it in a flatlay photo here on tumblr! super happy to have added it to my wardrobe. as for the coord details: my coat, JSK, blouse, socks and bag are all from baby. the headbow is innocent world, shoes are angelic pretty and my necklaces are from vivienne westwood and tiffany's. i also learned a valuable lesson as to how tea party shoes got their name.. with the uncomfortable lack of sole support i can't imagine doing anything else in them!

the lovely spot we had tea at ended up being a favorite out of many. it was adorned with vintage decor and furniture full of character. there were old postcards and works of art embedded within the glass covering of the table. the chandeliers of teacups, heart dishes and all of the lace doilies made for a very cottagey atmosphere which we loved.

this beautiful porcelain pot of sugar was one of the more interesting ones i've seen, with dried fruit and flowers included!

the star shaped sugar on the chocolate covered strawberries and the frog tea pot were also charmingly cute!!

Yuki: Nice. It’s pretty cute.

Misumi: We’ve arrived at the rendezvous point~!

Kazunari: Ah, those 3 are here already.

Kumon: Sumi-san, Kazu-san! Were you guys able to buy what you were looking for?

Kazunari: Copped and in the bag.

Misumi: I bought a nice triangle~!

Muku: I’m glad the World Market came around again!

Kazunari: I know, right! There were loads of awesome items~.

Kumon: Hold on guys, where’s Tenma-san!? It’s almost the time we agreed to meet up again…

Yuki: I hope he didn’t get lost again.

*Tenma shuffling around*

Tenma: …

Muku: Huh? Could that person wandering around over there possibly be Tenma-kun…

Yuki: …Surprise, surprise.

Kumon: HEEEY! TENMA-SAAAN!

*walks over*

Tenma: It was over here…? Geez, this landmark is hard to spot.

Misumi: But you’re the one who said this spot would be fine when we split up~?

Yuki: If you’re going to get lost, then don’t go off on your own in the first place.

Tenma: I-It’s not a big deal! Plus I wasn’t lost!

Yuki: Sure, whatever you say.

Misumi: So what did you buy, Tenma~?

Tenma: An Arabian light. Doesn’t it look like something from “Water me!”?

Muku: Wow, it looks so cute!

Kazunari: Your taste is on point, Tenten~!

Kumon: I’m so hype for the screening party coming up!

-pause-

Tenma: We’ve gotten into costume and we’re all set to go for the screening party.

Kumon: We performed this play pretty recently so it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long!

Misumi: I can’t wait to chat with everyone~!

Yuki: Tenma, is it just me or have you lost a bit of muscle since the play?

Tenma: D-Did I… really!?

Kumon: Don’t worry about it, Tenma-san! You look strong and cool like usual!

Tenma: …But now I’m worried since you mentioned it. There’s still some time before the talk show, so I’ll work out a bit.

Misumi: Right now~!?

Izumi: It’s almost time to go on stage!

-pause-

Kumon: We were just talking about this in the dressing room, but since this is our most recent play, it doesn't feel like it's been that long compared to our other ones.

Tenma: But that also makes it easier to remember and talk about things that happened during our rehearsals.

Kumon: I appeared before in the re-run of “Water me!”. But this time I got the chance to interact with everyone as the ring genie which was super fun!

Misumi: Unlike our first play, I liked how all of us joined up and went on an adventure together~.

Yuki: I was nice going to America before the play too, right?

Misumi: Yeah! It felt like all of us were travelling together, just like in the play~!

Kumon: Oh yeah. Tenma-san almost got lost in America too, didn’t he?

Yuki: He sure did. We were all walking together, yet he almost went down a different road by himself.

Tenma: T-That doesn’t count as getting lost! Besides, it wouldn’t be surprising if someone did lose their way since it’s an unfamiliar place.

Yuki: Why are you being stubborn? Might I remind you who got lost at the World Market the other day?

Kumon: But Kazu-san said it’s not safe to walk alone in foreign countries even if it seems safe!

Misumi: Everyone, be careful if you get the chance to go on a trip, ‘kay~!

Audience: Okay!

Tenma: Hold on, why are we talking about this!?

dear diary,

guess what? my dream of vacationing in the cutest beach house EVER has come true! it's absolutely adorable. the pastel-colored walls, cute little seashell decorations everywhere, and the view? OH MY GOSH, it's like something out of a postcard. every morning, i wake up to the sound of the waves gently crashing on the shore and the smell of the salty ocean air. i can't believe this is my life now!

yesterday, i went on a private cruise around some of the most beautiful lil islands i have ever seen. the water was so clear, i could see all the way to the bottom! the private island we visited was like a hidden paradise—white sandy beaches, palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the most delicious tropical fruit I have ever tasted. i even got to snorkel and see all kinds of colorful fish!

oh, and speaking of the beach, i���ve started learning how to surf! it was a bit tricky at first, but my instructor is super patient and fun. today, i finally managed to stand up on the board and ride a wave all the way to the shore! the feeling of gliding over the water is just indescribable. i can't wait to get even better and maybe even try some tricks soon!

last night, there was a carnival in town! it was so much fun—there were rides, games, and the most amazing food stalls. i had the best time ever eating cotton candy, winning stuffed animals, and riding the ferris wheel. the view from the top was spectacular; you could see the entire beach lit up with colorful lights.

i feel so incredibly grateful and happy with everything that's happening right now. it's like all my dreams are coming true, one by one.

bye bye diary!! i gotta go keep living out my dream life!!
