A while ago @shirokou sent me a really cool dice divination set called the Publishing Goblin Oracle Dice, which looked awesome but took me a while to get comfortable with; I've never really done what I think of as "bones" divination where you cast objects into a field and divine based on where they fall (dice, runes, i ching, etc).

I did a first few readings this past month, though, and while they were difficult they were also really fun! I don't know why this form of divination is so much more complex for me -- I read card pretty fluidly, although moreso when I'm working with my own deck where the cards have the meanings printed on. But like, this 14-dice reading on a mat was way more complicated than the big 78-card spread I usually do a few times a year.

That said, I have to admit, it does look properly wizardly. Look at that diagram I did and tell me it would look out of place done in red ink on parchment, lying near a skull with a dribbly candle on it. (It's mostly about change and relationships, I'm still decoding what it might mean.)

I will say I'm kinda disappointed that there won't be a dwarf from Kal-Shirok in the party. I hope that Kal-Shirok plays a role in the story of the Veilguard

7.) what character did you begin to hate not because of canon but because how how the fandom acts about them?

I'll do a second one of these. Varric Tethras. Surprise! Bioware gives you a designated best friend who is a yes man and the woder fandom loves him cuz they love having their ass kissed! Oh man you would think Varric was the maker the way people worship him. But he's a prick to Sebastian AND Blackwall for a bit because they are Noble and good men and only likes Blackwall when he finds out he murdered a family. On top of that he's another of Bioware's "I hate my ethnic/oppressed group" and he's annoying about it. This fucker when you go into a cave that you can see the back of from about 90 meters away from it "you know, not every dwarf loves caves..." oh sorry Varric didn't know we were walking into Kal shirok here in the hinterlands when the sun is out.

But all you ever see is "Varric is the best I would romance him so much cuz no one will ever compare to him. My Hawke and Inquisitor would fight over him cuz he's just so hot and better than every other LI" god it makes me roll my eyes at how people fawn over yes men characters with no backbone and who's main trait is "will agree with you". Sebastians a better archer, Sigrun is a better dwarf, and I'm hoping someone else can get a spotlight in DA:D cuz I'm tired of Varric.

He's fine in combat in DAI and I do like his banter with Vivienne!

10.)worst part of fanon?

Ignoring the facts about a character to recharacterize them. Like Garrus and the "He's Turian Batman!" No he isnt. He was a trigger happy ex cop who wanted to just kill people and call it justice. Also projecting our real world issues onto fictional characters or plot elements. Like when people started saying Mage Lives Matter in the DA fandom because of Black Lives Matter IRL. That shit sucked.

21.) Part of canon you think is overhyped?

Solas has two things. His "I was wrong about you " convo for Adaar and Solas saying he's going to destroy the world.

Everyone says Solas is racist to Qunari/Tal Vashoth butnhe doesn't say anything The Iron Bull or Sten say about them. Bull and Sten say that the Qun keeps their davage nature in check, so why is Solas saying that after being AWAKE for 1 year that from what he heard Qunari are savage creatures? Theur own doctrine says it so why wouldn't he believe them until he meets a wise and noble Adaar that even THE IRON BULL will say is what Tal Vashoth should be if they don't want the Qun?

Also Solas as the main villain. Trespasser PLAINLY stated that Solas had a protagonist arc and his antagonists were the Evanuris, he eve says undoing the veil would release the Evanuris once more but he'll have to deal with them. Solas undoing the veil will most likely not do what he thinks because the world isn't dependent on Magic like it was when he sealed the fade. He won't be the main villain, the Evanuris will be. If anything, Solas could end up as a companion to the next Protagonist as we help him defeat the other Evanuris!

It's time for some Post Office Bounty! I am bad at checking my PO box but always delighted to find treats when I do. Up top, some delightful random flavored chips from @221squee, thank you! The takoyaki chips are very pungent -- they taste very nice but they do smell very strongly of fish -- and the "Chip Star" consomme flavor was delightful, I ate them all in like a day or two. I have to admit I haven't tried the foie gras flavor yet...I have had foie gras before but that's how I know it's, uh, a powerful flavor. I'll get up the courage eventually. :D And I love the card!

I always know when I get a package from @shirokou that it's going to be full of fun stuff -- there are some wonderful enamel pins (I'm going to have to redo my Ita bag for the new year!) and stickers, and I'm excited to learn about these diviniation dice that came with such a fun rolling mat. I'm going to be doing some tarot reading tonight so hopefully I'll do some dice throwing too!

And so many lovely cards! There's one in the middle that you can barely see because I wanted to make sure I covered up any faces, but I always love seeing the photo card every year! (And loved hearing about the new pup.)

The glittery gifts up top is a fun 3-D card from @scifigrl47 , and next to it the basket of boughs is from @delphia2000, thank you both for the holiday wishes! There's some pretty sheep from T in Berwyn (glad I offered some comfort and entertainment this year!) and a wonderful polar bear with some penguins from @kimmiesue13. I got a fun Christmukkah card from Josh & Kris (man the card also reminded me about the holiday I invented, Christisntspringhereyetmas, but there's always next year to celebrate that). Finally, a beautiful and indeed terrifying owl card from Wendy (it's so eerie, I love it) and some awesome glittery snowmen from Traylor.

It's cooler than that, because the dwarves of Tevinter are actually another remnant of the ancient dwarven empire. And there's also Kal-Shirok making a very interesting comeback.

I do love the Orzammar ambassadors in the Winter Palace. People tend to assume that they're Carta, but if you listen to their conversation they're clearly not. The scatterings of Orzammar culture across Thedas are really interesting, especially considering that Orzammar dwarves are not supposed to come to the surface. It's hard to include them without going to Orzammar, though I did really like the way they did it in the Descent with Harding (who is awesome) not allowed down into the Deep Roads and Valta refusing to come into the light.

It's cool that a lot of our major dwarf characters, from all sectors of their society, are female. There's Harding, Valta, Bianca and Dagna, plus Branka.

When DA4 drops I want y’all to remember these things:

- Tevinter’s closest and only ally is Orzammar (‘ally’ is an overstatement but they have a business arrangement involving lyrium & trade that the imperium cannot function without)

- There is a class in Tevinter called the Ambassadoria that consists of dwarven dignitaries from Orzammar to oversee trade

- They have their own thaigs AND a provings ground.

- Minrathous is protected by “juggernauts”: GOLEMS. Gifted to them by Orzammar.

- Orzammar has embassies in EVERY major city in Tevinter.

If bioware reduces them to common thugs and merchants like they always do I’m gonna bite someone. If Varric “Not Like Other Dwarves” Tethras is the only dwarf companion or major dwarf character we get i am nibbling someone’s ankle. BioWare still hasn’t made up for what they did to Oghren. Prime opportunity to revisit dwarves that don’t hate or disown their culture in order to fill some hollow stereotype or predictable antithesis. Go back or else.

For Jack's home city-state in the Free Marches, I'm thinking Wycome. "Revelry capital of Thedas" sounds like it would be a great place for a branch of the Dwarven Merchants' Guild with an ascendant leaning, as opposed to Kirkwall's more traditional kalna leanings.

Also, Wycome is featured in a war table mission specifically for an elven inquisitor, where if you play your cards right, you can land an Actual Dalish Elf on the city council. My inquisitor is a Qunari, but I am going to pretend that happened anyhow.
