Got too much wool... their mom was a VERY wooly sheep (think equivalent of a baby doll) and although they inherited about half as much, it still is a hassle to deal with. Not exactly sexy, but it does give 70s Workout Clothes vibes!

We recently hired an older woman truck driver and today she complimented my hair and asked me, "So are you family, or like an ally?" and I answered, "Oh, family 😊" and she got such a happy look and started talking about how glad it made her to have a new job somewhere where people could be openly queer and that she'd never worked somewhere with as high of a percentage of non-cishet people and how good it felt. It was just a really lovely little interaction.

Friendly reminder that if a deal seems too good to be true, it might be! Also known as someone messaged me here, asked if they could make a painting based on one of my quilts (I am absolutely fine with that!), and then offered to pay me for doing so. When I said that was kind of them, but unnecessary, they insisted and kept pushing, trying to get my email, my discord, and then eventually my banking info. They insisted their "client" would mail me a check, and that since they and I were "collaborating" on this art piece, I'd deposit the check and then mail them their part. Many things about the whole pitch were suspicious, but two stood out from the very beginning: - for using a photo of my quilt as a reference, they said they'd pay $300 - the quilt they said someone commissioned them to make a 3 foot square oil painting of was the lumberjack quilt. Now don't get me wrong, I like my lumberjack quilt, but of all the quilts I've ever made I have serious doubts that the "various shades of denim" quilt is the one someone would want a painting of (Just in case they were not trying to scam me, I did make it clear that I was absolutely fine with them using my photos for reference. I even offered to take new photos of that quilt from different angles or in different lighting if they wanted! I said I had a ko-fi if they felt they really had to pay me! But no.)

#i will get used to it #highlights:#i had two work meetings for my on campus jobs and i am getting a lot of hours right off the bat because my boss loves meeeeee #but she asked the absolute max hours i could work and i gave her a number that is more than double what i worked last year. and uhhhhh yeah #i got that so. yipeee #i just was offered a studio space??!! which is not. something that juniors typically get im just from a tiny major and got. very luckyyyy #class was really great?? it was a lot of paint making demos and i. probably came off as a know it all but its okay because i got to engage #with my special interest which rocks #i saw my boyfriend and had class with him which is always a highlight #saw my friends a lot too.. so! pretty good #uh anything else. my therapy appt went fine. thats all #oh! and i mentioned i was just. elected a position in student government so i go to my first meeting for that tommorow. (repesentative for #the junior class which im. happy ppl consider me a good fit for.)#im a littttttle nervous about balancing my usual class workload with a lot more work than im used to and also an internship and also a #student gov position but i think it will be okay..!!

feeling in a very weird position right now thinking about the fact theres a nonzero chance that either one of the cosplayers ive become acquainted with or someone in their immediate circle could do brownface in the future and people are gonna come at me like 'hey why are you not calling them out and/or giving them a racial sensitivity seminar and/or personally fistfighting them on the floor of the doujin circle event'

#i strongly feel westerners darkening their skin for cosplay are generally doing it in an 'i know this is offensive and dont care' edgy way #but people over here largely Dont Fucking Know because the cultural context behind why it's bad is not there #and i don't...personally feel like it's my job either to educate near-strangers on this or to make a big deal out of how i condemn it #(someone i just met and already became fond of said she wants to dress as a brown character and im already getting nervous #in case she does end up painting her skin and the pics are shared around or come to the attention of the western ppl i know in fandom #imagining people that i know pointing at me and going Hey Ebil You Are Brown.
