There are no more heroes.

Well, okay. Rewind a bit.

Danny has been doing the hero thing for a while now. He’s had a big reveal; everyone has accepted him (including his parents), the GIW disbanded, the Anti-Ecto acts repealed, and generally, everything is going great. Some of the A-Listers are even training as junior ghost hunters to help give him a break from his rogues! (Being Ghost King makes things hectic sometimes, and he just needs the extra help. Sue him!)

The point is, literally nothing is wrong with Danny Phantom’s afterlife.

And then Valerie Gray, the Red Huntress, disappears in front of his eyes.

Danny is baffled! She’s just…gone! Valerie just popped out of existence, like she was never there. But no matter how hard he searches in the Ghost Zone, he can’t find her soul anywhere. His core isn't broken in grief. So she’s not dead. Which is good. So then, where is she?

Some of the others come forward with ideas on how to find her. A few ghosts volunteer to go out into the mortal realm, an area Danny had declared off-limits, to see if she was out there. Danny approves it. He rounds up some of the friendlier (i.e., discreet) ghosts and Amity Parkers and demolishes the outside travel ban.

So everyone spreads out, looking for their dear frenemy and teammate. But it becomes apparent very quickly that something is wrong with the rest of the world.

There are no more heroes.

Every single living superhero on the face of the Earth has just…vanished. Villains are running amok; the countries are in chaos! Some aliens are invading Earth, mythical deities are trying to take over, and society is crumbling to the ground. Everything is on the brink of collapse.

Well, Danny was still there. And so were his people. They were pretty spread out, so could they just…take up the mantles? He also knew where to find the souls of dead heroes in the Zone; surely they wouldn't mind coming out of retirement for a little bit, especially if they couldn't die again. Oh! And that skeleton army leftover from Pariah Dark's reign might be useful in repelling those invading forces.

Honestly, there were more than enough hands to go around! And with the heroes gone, Danny didn't mind letting everyone out for a little break, as long as they followed his rules. They wouldn't stop the search for the other heroes, but hopefully, when they found them, the heroes wouldn't mind Danny's intervention too much. :)

In other words:

Someone fucks up, and all of Earth's living heroes are either wished out of existence or are whisked away to some far-off realm where Danny hasn't checked yet. In the attempt to figure out what's going on, Danny lets the dead run amok over the Earth as they search for clues. The skeleton army repels the invading armies, the souls of dead heroes deal with the world leaders, and his rogues and other Amity Parkers set up shop in place of famous heroes, trying to get the cities under control again.

Basically, they just do their best to keep everything from imploding until the Justice League and others are back.

(And why is it that Danny hasn't disappeared? Well, whatever caused everyone to go poof! only affected living heroes. Anyone heroes that were dead in the first place, or even just half-dead, stayed behind.)

I love how the show makes Private smart and a competent fighter despite his squishy, naive personality. Some media these days is so bad with its characters being one-dimensional and boxed to a single personality trait, but tpom actually has really in-depth characters

tbh at first i was really happy about ffviiec ffvi event like yippee maybe it's like dffoo it can be interesting (i don't know jackshit about ec specifically aside from what my acquaintances show me). then i watched the first part. then i sat and thought.

why should i be happy about another dumbification of already unrefined (cuz of time and constraints) plot that's still made with love and attention and deserves to be its own story? why should i be happy about characters being reduced to pretty skins with some nice stuff like terra's theme on the background and of course of course another use of dancing mad in trailer (that specific version of it)? why should i be happy about only two characters (three if we're lucky + rip dffoo) being remembered – and usually written as forever damsel in distress and mr badguy moustachetwirler?

cuz people are telling me i should be happy. "you see? ffvi is so fucking overrated, everyone remembers it, they made an event in ec". yeah, and didn't even give cloud or sephiroth celes skin. SKIN.

I got super attached to leshy while playing cult of the lamb and because there's hardly any leshy-centric fics i've fallen down something of a rabbit-hole of planning my own story.

And, well, I've finally collected all the lore in the game (didn't want to spoil the lore for myself... did that with way too many games already) and like, wow, ok, lol, the 5 bishops are significantly more morally fucked up than how they are generally portrayed in fanon. Emphasis on all 5 of them. That'll definitely present an interesting challenge given the plot i've already somewhat mapped out. Very interesting to work with a cast of characters where everyone is morally corrupt to varying degrees but honestly i have no idea if i'll even be able to tactfully pull it off

I don't have a lot of thoughts- I'm pretty early in! So far he does seem to be plotting to murder his older brother and kind of in love with his wife's baby cousin but i don't even have confirmation on that first bit yes. anyway third prince is also plotting to murder his older brother and his sister seems in on the scheme it just seems to be what all the middle siblings are up to right now.

This is a pet project of mine.

A group of investigative journalists try to figure out what's really happening among Angband's upper crust. They try to unravel the mystery of what's really been going on with the councils, the forming political factions in the court, the eroding relationship between their rulers.

After the theft of the Silmaril, Mairon being brought back to Angband and subsequently disappearing, they try to both find out what exactly happened with Mairon and figure out how the court is organising itself with such an influential figure suddenly gone.

Also Angband absolutely has printing presses and newspapers.

thor hummed a low note beneath his breath. ❝  i am not so certain i would have give you the time to string any more words at any rate, ❞ he admitted. he shifted his weight from foot to foot. it was no secret that thor had grown rather CROSS with stark as of late. there was no fate worse than vexing the storm god's tumultuous temper , and leave it to whom thor would wager was earth's greatest enigma to manage it after so many earth years. sidling gaze to meet tony stark's , thor studied him in silence for a good , long moment.

stark was clever and driven. brash and bold. in so many ways , thor found him ADMIRABLE. but he could not bring himself to agree with stark's rationale - his SUIT OF ARMOR AROUND THE WORLD. perhaps he never would. after all , he was as "human" as the vision who ghosted the bar stools , watching flickering city lights and airplane trails from beyond the glass panels.

. . . and still thor could not bring himself to hold fast to such grudges either. the ropes thor held taut to raise the barrier between them HIGH burned red welts into the skin. stark meant well. that , at least , thor could ( begrudgingly ) admit. and what were humans not but emotional creatures ? ( and what was thor , if not still mortal in heart yet ? )

X6: (Ignores him while turning on the radio)

Jasmine: (Eagerly dashed over to the counter to prep the treats)

Piper: (Leans in the doorway with a questioning look at the men) “Well, what’s going on in here?”

Preston: (Has a tiara over his hat) “Tea party, care to join us? The more the merrier.”

Jasmine: (Perks up with shining eyes and points to an empty seat next to Danse)

Piper: (Sits down and looks around) “So… is this some sort of dare? Or did someone pay you guys-?”

Danse: (Wearing a bunch of metallic beaded necklaces and pink sunglasses) “Shhhh.” (Puts a finger to his lip then gesture to the girl who’s happily skipping around)

Piper: (Raises her eyebrows) “Ahhh, I see.”

Deacon: (Offering a pot of tea to a teddy bear) “Care for some more tea, Miss Winifred?”

Jasmine: (Serving fresh brownies to her guests on pink plastic plates)

Hancock: (Has little bows pinned on his hat and one too many giant gemstone rings on his fingers) “Now this is what I call a real treat, thanks little sister.” (Generously puts a brownie on Miss Winifreds plate)

Preston: (Stirring his tea) “Pass the sugar, please.”

X6: (Wordlessly hands him the jar while munching on a brownie)

Piper: (Whispering to the teen) “You sure get away with a lot of stuff, don’t you kiddo?”

Jasmine: (Grins mischievously)
