the thought of the marauders and the slytherin skittles being on opposing hockey teams, and the reader being SOMETHING for the skittles (like their coach or something medical related) with the marauders absolutely feening for her has been rotting my brain recently, just had to get this off my chest thank you for coming to my ted talk.
hehehehe - also apologies to my non-hockey loving followers, I've clearly lost the plot
hockey player!marauders x slytherin staff!reader who they have a crush on [735 words]
CW: brothers, hockey, swearing
“Finally ready to leave the darkside and come join us in Gryffindor, gorgeous?” You heard a familiar voice call from behind you, causing the unlucky player you had cornered after the pregame warmup for content creation to roll his eyes.
“You do know that it’s terribly uncouth for the other team to trespass in the home team's wing, right?” Regulus grumbled as he gave his brother a pointed look.
“‘Uncouth’, he says. Christ, Reg, join us in the 21st century, will ya?” Sirius Black chuckled as he moved to stand beside you; his already tall frame now imposing as he towered over you in his hockey equipment.
“Get the fuck out of our hall.” Regulus corrected himself, causing Sirius to pretend to wipe proud tears from under his eyes.
“They grow up so fast.”
“We thought we lost ya, Pads- oh!” Another voice sounded before two more Gryffindor players appeared from around the corner. “It’s you!”
“Is it really breaking news to find a Slytherin player outside of the Slytherin locker room in the Slytherin stadium?” Regulus spat then, causing James Potter’s eyes to dart over to his teammate's younger brother.
“Oh! Hi Reg, didn’t see ya there.”
“Oh my god.” You huffed.
“Can I go now?” Regulus whined.
“No.” You and Sirius chorused before you two shared a look - you, glowering at him, and him, beaming at you.
“How do you have the loveliest social media manager in the league and then whine when you have to spend time with her?” Remus Lupin asked as he narrowed his eyes playfully at Regulus, resting his chin atop his stick.
James nodded eagerly. “We’d treat ya way better in Gryffindor, angel, just say the word.”
“The word is mischief, by the way.” Sirius added, shooting you a wink.
“And here I was thinking my brother came all the way over here to wish his little brother luck.” Regulus deadpanned.
“Why would you think that?” Sirius asked then, causing Regulus to theatrically drop his gloves as the two of them playfully sparred outside of the Slytherin locker room.
You had to admit, it made a great video for instagram and tiktok - people loved brothers in the NHL.
“Alright, alright. If you get a black eye before the game, coach’ll have my head. Get lost, Black.” You relented, swatting Regulus’ arm to dismiss him.
“Good luck baby bro!” Sirius called after him when Regulus hardly waited a second after you told him he could go.
“Bite me.” Was all you heard as Regulus disappeared behind the locker room door.
“The coaches are going to accuse you of coming over here to get in his head, you know.” You chided as you tried to level Sirius a look, though when you had him looking right back at you, you were sure it fell painfully flat as your cheeks heated to near painful levels.
Sirius simply shrugged. “Easy enough to explain I didn’t actually come over here for him.”
“You lot didn’t actually come walk all the way over here in your gear just to talk to me.” You scoffed as you walked away, biting your lip as you heard three sets of skates walking behind you.
“Sure we did.” James agreed readily.
“Is that such a crime?” Remus asked.
“Probably not according to the league, but-”
“But?” Sirius asked as he moved to stand in front of you with a perfectly arched eyebrow, blocking you from disappearing behind a door with a staff only sign on it.
“What is it you came to ask me?” You laughed, causing Sirius to throw his hands up in exasperation.
“When are you leaving the Snakes to come work for the Lions?” Remus asked with a smile.
“Why would I leave!?”
“They don’t treat you right, angel.” James answered solemnly. “You deserve better.”
“We love filming content; we’d be at your beck and call.” Sirius added.
You hummed as you rolled your eyes. “Yeah, I’ve noticed you’re rather vain.”
Sirius gasped and held a gloved hand to his chest. “You’ve noticed me!?”
“Get the fuck out of our hall.” You ordered him with a laugh, repeating Regulus’ demand from before. “Absolute fiends.”
“On and off the ice, sweetheart.” Remus added with a wink as you pushed open the office door.
“Hey! You’re not actually going to leave without wishing us luck, are you?” James called.
“Bite me!”
“Name the time and place, doll!”

Heyyyy so i was hoping maybe you could write some james or poly marauders x fem reader with really intense ocd and compulsions? Ive just been struggling lately and i feel like the boys might help. If not its totally fine i understand certain things are hard to write! Youre doing great! Much love
Hi, thank you for requesting angel!
cw: depictions of ocd, specifically hand washing compulsions and obsessive thoughts/seeking reassurance, I know ocd is different for every person and I'm not sure what constitutes "intense" for you or anyone else but I based this on some of the experiences of someone I know with ocd so I hope it's alright <3
poly!marauders x fem!reader ♡ 1.5k words
“You’re getting hands like an old woman’s,” Sirius teases, taking his time as he smooths lotion into the crevices of your palm and the spaces between your fingers. You’re facing each other on the couch, your legs crossed underneath you while Remus reads in the armchair beside. “You’re going to be looking like my old bird soon.”
“Mean,” you murmur teasingly, doing your best to ignore the growing anxiety in your chest.
“I’ve never said I didn’t like older women,” he hums. You laugh, and Sirius grins, his goal achieved. “You’re still gorgeous, all of you.”
You want to be flattered, but your heart twinges in distress when he lifts your moisturized fingers to his mouth, kissing your knuckles.
“What?” Sirius asks, though you can tell by his face that he has a sense of what you’re thinking—that you know, you know, you’ve only just washed your hands, but you’re terrified now he’s going to catch something because of you. “I can kiss my girl, can’t I?” He keeps his voice light, but his eyes are soft. “Can I?”
You nod, shoving the worst of your worries down as Sirius leans closer, pressing a pillowy soft kiss to your lips.
“Everything’s just fine,” he murmurs. “I love you, you know that?”
You try to let your thoughts go all soft and melty, but they keep solidifying, crystal clear and insistent and at the very front of your consciousness.
“I love you, too,” you tell him. “Um, Sirius?”
“Yeah, sweetness.”
“Did you wash your hands when you came home yesterday?”
Sirius hesitates.
You hear a quiet rustling, and look over to see Remus lowering his book. “Dove,” he says, “we agreed we’d only reassure you the first time you asked. Sirius already answered your question yesterday.”
“I know.” You look down at your hands. “Sorry, I’m just not sure if I’m remembering it right. You did, right?”
“You don’t have to be sorry,” Remus says gently, again avoiding giving you an answer. “We just don’t want to make things worse for you.”
You push out a breath. “Yeah. I’m sorry,” you tell Sirius, “I trust you.”
The tension melts from his expression. He tsks at you, bumping your knee with his. “Would you stop that? What’d he just say?” Your lips give a little tug, and Sirius gives you a soft look. “I know you do, gorgeous. It’s not really you talking, is it?”
He means your disorder. Sirius likes to talk about it the same way he talks about Remus’ pain, as though they’re things separate from you that just like to loiter around and bully his loved ones. It’s comforting, knowing he never holds your compulsions against you because he doesn’t think of them as you at all. You try to give him a better smile, but Sirius sees right through it. Gray eyes narrow on yours.
“What is it?”
“I feel like I need to wash them again,” you confess.
He frowns, lips pulling to one side. “You don’t, though, baby.”
“I know,” you say, agonized.
“Try not to, okay?”
“It’s hurting you to do it so often, sweetheart,” Remus reasons. “Don’t your hands feel raw?”
“Yeah,” you murmur. But the feeling of griminess is worse. You tuck your lip between your teeth, face hot with shame and emotion.
“Take a breath.” Remus’ voice is soothing. “We’re all okay, aren’t we? Everything’s going to be fine.”
“How do you know?” you ask, your frustration with yourself spilling over into frustration with your boyfriends.
“Hey.” Sirius’ tone isn’t chastising but imploring. He smooths his hands over yours, and you manage not to pull them away for fear of contaminating him. “What if we have a hug instead, yeah?”
You take the offer, feeling conflicted and all wrong but desperate for comfort. You’re extremely conscious of his hands where they come to rest on your lower and mid back and yours so near his face where your arms are wrapped around his neck, but Sirius somehow knows what you need, squeezing you tight until the worst of your worries squish out of you. They’re eclipsed by the feeling of being cared for.
“I know, sweetheart,” he hums. “I know this is hard for you, but we’re only trying to help. You know we love you, right?”
You breathe out. “Yeah.”
Sirius gives you a little squeeze, teasing now. “You sure? It doesn’t feel like you do. Remus, do you think she gets it?”
“I think she might know that we love her,” Remus says placidly, turning his page, “but likely not how much.”
“Mm. Hear that?” One hand sneaks to your side, and the next squeeze makes you gasp out a laugh, ticklish. “You don’t get it.”
“No, I do! I do!”
“S’not your fault, dove.” Remus is watching you from the corner of his eye, smiling faintly. “It’s more love than most people could conceptualize.”
“Oh.” You’re giggling now. “So you guys are just extra special? I love you way more than—ah!”
“Cruel, unfounded claims,” Sirius accuses, digging his fingers into your side.
You reach for his hand, but you’re too weak with laughter to wrestle it away. “You don’t even know what I was going to say!”
“Couldn’t let you finish,” he says simply. “Sounded like the beginnings of blasphemy.”
“Good lord,” says James. You didn’t hear him come in, but he’s sweaty and breathing hard from having just finished his run. “By the screaming coming from in here I thought we were under attack.”
“What would you have done if we were?” Remus asks curiously.
“Well, I…I was running in here to see what happened. I’d have fought them off, I suppose.”
Remus smiles down at his book, and Sirius pats James’ midsection fondly. “Good thing it’s never come to that, darling.”
James stares at him. “And how am I meant to take that?”
“I think you’d do very well in a fight, Jamie,” you say, taking the opportunity to slip out of Sirius’ grasp.
James turns to you, a smile spreading over his face. “I think so, too. Thanks, lovie.” He bends towards you. You think to take his face in your hands, but remember your fears at the last second, bringing them down to your sides. If any of the boys notice, they don’t mention.
“Have they victimized you, my lovely girl?” James asks between kisses. “No one’s ever as nice to you when I’m gone, are they?”
“I resent that.” Sirius pokes your side, making you giggle and bend away from him. “Ever thought that maybe she likes when I’m not nice to her?”
“Not really, no,” says James, flopping down onto the couch.
You’re holding your hands away from you, hesitant to touch the couch or your skin or anything until you feel like they’re clean. Sirius really had managed to distract you for a while, but now your anxiety is back in full force, your heart in your throat and dread a swirling mass in your gut.
When you look up, Remus is watching you.
“Maybe we should get out of the house,” he suggests. “We could go for a walk. Does that sound okay, sweetheart?”
“Um…” It makes your heartbeat ratchet just to think about, the barrier of time and physical space between you and the next time you’ll actually be able to wash your hands. But you know that’s the point.
“That’s a great idea.” James catches on quickly, more than familiar with your compulsions. He takes your hand in his easily, encouraging you up from the couch. “It’s a beautiful day out. Lots of leaves on the ground, you’ll love it.”
You smile. You think that you must be easy to please, because leaves to crunch underneath your shoes does make the idea of a walk sound more enticing.
“But you only just got in,” you say.
“I could use a cooldown,” James says easily. “I came in here thinking my sweethearts were under attack, my heart rate hasn’t had a chance to come down.”
“I feel like it’s important to note,” says Sirius, grabbing his scarf and your hat from the coat closet, “that there were two other men here in the house when we were under this alleged attack. You weren’t our only hope.”
“I feel like it’s important to note that that’s sexist,” you say.
“Very,” James agrees, swiping your hat from Sirius and putting it on for you. “I’d think our best defenders would be the ones who spend the most time working out.”
“Mm. Not Sirius, then.”
“Certainly not.”
A hand fists in the back of your shirt, and you choke on a gasp as Sirius yanks you back to his side. He wraps an arm securely around your waist. “Remus,” he says smoothly, “did y/n look like she was having a very easy time fighting me off a couple of minutes ago?”
“I’m staying out of this one,” Remus says as he shrugs on his coat, but his tongue is poking into his cheek. You find you can’t help smiling, either.

𝟷.𝟼𝚔 || 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐆𝐎𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍 (PART 4)
♡ ︎ꜱᴜᴍᴍᴀʏ: After being the forgotten one your whole life, you thought that they wouldn't forget you.
♡ ︎ᴡᴀʀɴɪɴɢꜱ: None
♡ ︎ꜱʜɪᴘ: poly!marauders x reader
♡ ꜱᴇʀɪᴇꜱ : part 1 | part 2 | part 3 | part 4

It had been a few weeks since the fallout between you and the Marauders, and though you’d forgiven Remus, you were still waiting on the others to grovel appropriately. Remus had apologized sincerely, and after some much-needed cuddling, you had let it slide. But the rest of the boys? Not so much.
Today, you and Remus were curled up on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, enjoying a quiet moment together when the door to the common room burst open. James, Sirius, and Peter stumbled in, laughing about some prank they'd pulled earlier in the day.
They stopped dead in their tracks when they saw you and Remus snuggled up. Their eyes narrowed suspiciously as they took in the scene.
"Everything alright between you two?" James asked, his voice laced with curiosity, while Sirius crossed his arms, clearly trying to read the room.
You raised an eyebrow at them, already irritated at the question. "Why wouldn’t it be?"
"Well, you know," Sirius drawled, glancing sideways at James, "since Remus is… Remus. And everything." He tried to sound casual, but you could tell he was fishing.
You crossed your arms, glaring at them. "Oh, now you care to talk about it?"
James blinked. "About what?"
Remus sighed beside you, knowing exactly where this was headed. The rest of the boys exchanged confused glances, still pretending they didn’t know what you were talking about.
"Don't play dumb," you said, sitting up and fixing each of them with an annoyed look. "The fact that none of you thought it necessary to tell me that Remus is a werewolf."
Sirius’s face went slack for a second before he tried to recover. "What?! Remus? A werewolf?" He threw his hands up dramatically. "I had no idea—"
Peter asked, confused, "How'd you figur-"
"Oh, please," you snapped, cutting him off. "With all those very visible scars, the four of you disappearing every full moon, and let’s not forget the howling coming from the Shrieking Shack. Do I look like an idiot to you?"
James bit back a laugh while Peter’s eyes widened in panic.
"And the final clue?" you continued, glaring at each of them. "All of you standing me up on our date the day after the full moon. Even Snape could figure it out!"
The mention of Snape's name made them all freeze. You noticed the exchange of guilty glances between them.
“Wait,” you said, gasping as realization hit. “Snape knew?”
They were all dead silent.
You turned to Remus, narrowing your eyes. "Well, congratulations, Lupin. You're officially back on the list."
Remus groaned dramatically. “Not the list.”
The other three burst into laughter, relieved to hear Remus wasn’t fully off the hook either.
"Alright," James said, stepping forward with a cheeky grin. "What’s it gonna take to get off this list?"
You smirked, finally ready to dole out some consequences. "Remus will be doing all of my assignments for the next six months. Except during the full moon, of course.”
Remus let out a breath of relief. "That's not so bad—"
You cut him off with a wicked smile. "I'm not finished. You’ll also be partnering with Lucius Malfoy in Charms class.”
Remus’s eyes widened in horror. “Nooooo! Anyone but Malfoy!”
You ignored his whining and turned to James, who was now grinning as if he’d already won your forgiveness.
"And Jamie here," you said sweetly, reaching out to pinch his cheek, "is going to switch partners with me in Defense Against the Dark Arts."
"That’s alright,” James shrugged, clearly thinking he got off easy. "I can handle that."
You smirked. “Then I’ll have Lily, and you’ll have Snape.”
James’s face fell instantly. “W-wait, hold on. You can’t—”
You cut him off with a grin. “Too late. It’s decided.”
James groaned dramatically, flopping onto the nearest couch as if the world had ended.
Next, you turned to Sirius, who was already bracing himself.
“And Sirius,” you said, drawing out his name, “you’ll be spending every evening studying with me in the library. And we both know how much you hate studying.”
Sirius groaned loudly, but you weren’t done.
"Oh, and one more thing," you added with a smirk. "No sex for one month."
His jaw dropped in horror. "NOOOOOOO!"
James burst out laughing, while Remus patted Sirius on the back sympathetically.
Finally, you turned to Peter, who looked the most nervous of them all. "Pete," you said softly, "I really didn’t want to do this, but you’re going to have to give up sweets and candies for an entire month."
Peter gasped in absolute horror, clutching the chocolate bar he was holding as if his life depended on it. You reached out, gently plucking it from his hand.
"Sorry, Pete. It’s the rules."
Peter fell to his knees, dramatically crying out, “Not my sweets! Anything but my sweets!”
You couldn’t help but chuckle at the theatrics. The boys were always a handful, but at least now they were going to work to earn their way back into your good graces.
"Don’t worry," you said with a smirk. "I’m sure you’ll all manage… eventually."
They groaned collectively, each already dreading the next few weeks.
But you had to admit, watching them squirm like this? Absolutely worth it.

Could you do a young!James Potter where reader tries to ask him to be their valentines but he keeps talking over them and talking about Lilly. So reader gets fed up and asks someone else, and James gets jealous or smth?
Hypocrisy
Summary: James doesn’t seem to want anyone other than Lily. So after one point, you decide to stop trying
Requested by anon
w/c: 4,500+
Pairing : James Potter x reader, Surprise marauder x reader, marauders x platonic!reader
A/N: I’M SO EXCITED THIS IS MY FIRST EVER REQUEST AHHHHH. Thank you so much anon. Ily
Reader is an animagus here. I made her a wolf animagus (since they do exist, but I kept her marauder name as Aspen (or Penny) so really you imagine any animal)
--------------------------------- <3
There was nothing you and James Potter hadn’t done together. Both of your parents were close and that meant that you usually spent time with each other. More often than not, you’d be at his house. At this point you knew his house better than you did yours.
So were you best friends? Hell yeah.
But what came with being best friends since you were in diapers?
By the 3rd year at Hogwarts, you’d fallen head over heels for the boy.
Now 3 years later, though his obsession for Lily had grown, it changed absolutely nothing. You were in love with James Fleamont Potter.
The rest of the marauders knew. But somehow, James was absolutely oblivious.
But this year would be different. You would confess. You promised yourself.
But now it’s February and you’d done nothing.
“Are you even going to ask him out n/n?” Sirius asked as you both ran to your class. As usual you were too busy pranking the Slytherins to realize that the next class had started.
“Of course I am Black! Patience is a virtue.” You both came to a halting stop in front of your DADA class, straightening out your robes.
“If he doesn’t accept, you know who to contact love,” Sirius said, fixing his hair. You shot him a look. “Way to be a supportive friend, Padfoot.”
He shrugged before stepping into the class.
“Mr. Black! Ms. L/N! Get to your seats,” your professor ordered. He was too accustomed to this by now. You ducked your head taking your seat behind James and next to Remus.
“What was it this time?” Remus whispered, eyes narrowed. Sirius turned back, a huge grin on his face. “Something special for Snivellus,” he sneered, earning a slap on the head from you. “Oh shut up! We didn’t bother Snape. We did however ensure Malfoy wakes up with pink hair tomorrow.” You informed Remus.
This time James turned around, “Bloody brilliant Aspen!” You felt your cheeks heat up before Sirius interjected. “Hey! It was my idea Prongs.”
“WILL THE FOUR OF YOU STAY SILENT FOR ONE CLASS?” your professor yelled, causing the four of you to shut up, not before you and Sirius let out snorts of laughter.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By that evening, everyone was talking about the plan the 7th Years had hatched.
Everyone who had a date, and only those who had a date to Valentine’s were being asked to ditch class on the 14th to go to Hogsmeade. The prefects made sure that everyone knew that if anyone didn’t have a date and still tagged along, they’d be reported.
“This is your chance, you know?” Remus whispered once the news had reached the Gryffindor common room. You nodded, gulping thickly as the nervousness took over.
“You know who I’m going to ask?” James asked, eyes lighting up. “Lemme guess Prongs, uhhhhh, i dont know? Lily maybe? As in the Lily you’ve been asking since first year?” Sirius asked, feigning confusion. He was met with a flying cushion to his face as he fell back laughing.
You knew he was right. James was going to ask Lily. And it didn’t help that you’d noticed the way Lily had started paying more attention to him. Remus put his arm around you and Sirius caught your eyes as he got back up. Something flashed in his, but for the first time since you’d met him, you couldn’t comprehend it.
“Who are you gonna ask Pads?” James asked, his homework long forgotten as he stretched out his arms.
Sirius seemed to have been caught-off guard which surprised you. It was normal for him to have a plan weeks before Valentine’s day. Remus, you and Peter would just tag along as James pestered Lily the entire day and Sirius hung out with his date. Except that one time in 4th year when a cute Hufflepuff had asked you out. Though it didn’t last long, even he could see the way you looked at James.
“I-I’m not gonna ask anyone,” he said, glancing over at you. Why did he look at you? Did he think you were going to judge him?
“Well,” Remus said leaning forward, “I’m going to ask a Ravenclaw out. The one that sits next to me in Charms.” The four of you gawked at Remus. “What?!” you asked. He shrugged, “She’s cute, and smart, and I think she likes me.” You leaned back, “Well shit, even Remus has a date now,” you said, throwing your hands up. He swatted your arm, “What’s that s’posed to mean?” You shook your head laughing.
“Well uh- I’m gonna ask out a Hufflepuff,” Peter said, rubbing his hands together. Your jaw dropped. “That makes it official. Penny, you and I are gonna be left behind to study,” Sirius gagged. “Does that mean you think I have a chance, Pads?” James asked, smirking.
Sirius shrugged, “Honestly? I’d say this year? You do,” Nodding towards where Lily was sitting. You whipped your head around just in time to see her hair flying as she turned away.
She’d been looking at James.
You covered your face with your hands, leaning into Remus’s side as he gave your shoulder a squeeze.
When you peeked through your fingers, you saw Sirius giving you an apologetic look, and James just staring at Lily, with a start-struck look on his face. You sighed, getting up and grabbing your books. “I’m gonna call it a night,” you mumbled. “You alright love?” Remus asked, concern etched across his face. You gave him a weak smile. “Yeah Remmy, just tired,” you said. You didn’t dare to look back as you wished them all good night.
You hadn’t lied. You were tired. Just not the exhausted kind of tired.
Tired of watching him fall more in love with her.
You lay in your bed, staring at the ceiling. Maybe. Just maybe if you got to him before he asked her out. Maybe.
You clenched your fist, shutting your eyes tight as your roommates walked in, giggling. Someone shushed them. But their whispers were still loud.
“So you’re gonna accept?”
“Maybe, we’ll see.” You felt your eyes watering.
“Dorcas, you owe me a butterbeer.”
“You bet on this?!”
You shut your eyes tighter, the tears rolling down your cheek. Drowning the girls in your room out, you decided you had to get to him first.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Charms was the first class of the day. Also the only one that only you and James had. Sirius, Remus and Peter had a free period, and Lily wasn’t there either.
It was the one time you really got James to yourself.
“You alright n/n? You went to bed early yesterday, and you were quiet at breakfast,” James asked, placing his hand over yours, brows furrowed together in concern.
You nodded, smiling. “Like I said, I was just a bit tired is all,” you replied.
He nodded, taking his hand off, as he went back to playing with his quill.
Goddammit.
You started bouncing your leg up and down, nerves completely taking over you. Would this even work? Would he say yes? Or would it break your friendship forever? You wouldn’t know unless you asked.
You sighed. It was now or never. You cleared your throat before slightly turning to him. “Jamie”
He hummed, scribbling something on a piece of paper.
“About the hogsmeade trip on the 14th-”
“How’s this?” He asked, shoving the piece of paper he’d previously been writing on, into your hands.
You held it in complete shock, eyes wide as it scanned the paper.
It was a poem.
-----------------------------------
Your eyes have got me mesmerized
Your smile keeps me on a high
I know you think I'm arrogant,
Full of myself, a bit too content
But believe me when I say
Your responses make my day
I’m hoping that, I can gather the guts
To ask you out, before you make me go nuts
So today is the day,
I’d like to know if you’d be my date?
On Valentine’s Day?
----------------------------------
It wasn’t perfect. But it was beautiful. Your heart was beating loud against your rib cage.
Was it meant for you?
Your hands were shaking, “I-”
“It’s for Lily, though I think that’s a bit obvious by now.” he laughed nervously.
You froze. Your heart dropped, and suddenly breathing became difficult. You couldn’t think. Couldn’t speak.
How foolish of you.
“So? How is it?” James asked, trying to duck and meet your eyes.
You blinked away the gathering tears, forcing a smile.
You looked up at him, straight into his beautiful hazel eyes. “It’s amazing James. If I were her, I would be absolutely flattered.” You said, your voice shaking slightly.
You willed yourself to hold it together, just until next period. You were free then, and so were Sirius and Remus.
James beamed. “Thanks Y/N.” He took the paper from your hands again, grinning all the while.
You turned back to the front of the class. You couldn’t focus, so instead you closed your eyes, trying to ignore the sting in your chest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The moment you filled your friends in, Remus engulfed you in a hug. You tried not to burst into tears, as he held you tight, rubbing his hand up and down your back, as you clutched onto his sweater. After a few moments he pulled away, reaching into his pocket to grab a few chocolates and handed them to you. You mumbled a thanks before plopping down next to Sirius, who immediately wrapped his arm around your shoulder, and you leaned into him. You’d hugged him before, but for some reason, this felt a little different. You shrugged it off, thinking it had to do with what you’d just felt.
“You still have a few days left n/n,” Remus said, cleaning up his desk, knowing far too well that none of you were going to study now. “He won’t say yes Moony,” you mumbled, wiping away a stray tear.
“Well, you gotta talk over him y’know,” Sirius said. His voice was thick with emotion. Which? You couldn’t tell. Nor did your mind register that fact. Remus watched Sirius carefully, as you opened yet another chocolate to gulp down.
“Won’t listen,” you said, licking the chocolate off of your fingers.
“You gotta make him n/n. Make him see what he’s missing. That someone’s there that loves him. That he’s unnecessarily running behind someone who isn’t giving him a second thought.” Sirius gulped. “Wise words Pads,” Remus said, smiling softly.
You hummed. Oblivious to the conversation both the boys were having with their eyes.
“Alright, I’ll try just twice more,” you declared, sitting up straight, looking at both the boys. Remus gave you an encouraging smile, but Sirius wouldn’t even look at you. Again, filled with emotions of your own, you didn’t think much of it.
You flipped open your books, and started scribbling. You had the entire day left to try. The last day to confirm was the day after, so you had time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Gryffindor common room was often quiet in the afternoon, and it was usually the perfect place for you to get away from the craziness of it all. The silence was comforting more often than not, but today it only allowed your thoughts to grow. You shook it off, trying to enjoy the peace while you could.
The boys could be a handful sometimes.
However, you were surprised when Sirius stepped through the painting. “Hey,” he said softly, dropping his bag onto the couch before sitting in front of you. “Hey?” You responded, confused. He shrugged, before taking out his books and a quill and started writing.
You smiled softly. Him being here surrounded you in a weird sort of comfort. You took advantage of it, trying to focus on your homework.
That was until he came barging into the room.
“Evans just rejected a Ravenclaw! I’d say I’ve got a good chance,” he cheered before plopping down on the couch, arms outstretched. You and Sirius looked at eachother. Yet again, that look was back. The one you couldn’t read.
But just like that it was gone again, a smirk on his lips as he pointed to James with his thumb.
Your eyes widened.
But he was right and you knew it.
“James, I was thinking, for Valentine’s-”
“I should get Lily flowers! I’d love getting a card or flowers, though I think she would prefer roses,” James smiled. “Bloody genius n/n,” he grabbed his bag and just like that he was running out again.
You blinked a few times.
“Did he just- cut me off? A-Again?” You asked, your voice filled with hurt.
Sirius was next to you within seconds. “Well you know what to do now. You get him a card. He can’t cut you off then right?”
You looked at him, the words registering in your mind as you nodded slowly. “Yeah, yeah that’s-” you looked at your books. “You know what? Fuck this,” you shoved all your books into your bag, “I’m gonna get James a card,” you said standing.
“N-now?” Sirius asked, surprised.
You nodded, quickly bending down to kiss his cheek. “Bloody brilliant Siri.” And then you ran out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“James!” you called out running up behind him in the halls, one hand behind your back.
He spun around smiling, wrapping his hand around your shoulders once you reached him.
“Sorry, I’ve been so caught up trying to figure out what to get Evans that we haven’t really hung out,” he said.
You ignored the pang in your chest.
Third time’s the charm.
“Uh- about that James,” you handed him the card, revealing it from behind your back.
He stared at the beautiful handwriting.
You’d just drawn a bunch of hearts and written:
Will you be my Valentine?
In perfect cursive too, which was saying something, because you didn’t know cursive. At all.
He stared at it for a few seconds, your heart beat getting so loud and fast that you were sure he could hear it by now.
But when a grin broke out on his face, you calmed down.
Sirius was a gen-
“You’re the best, best friend ever Y/N!”
What?
“I-”
“This is just what she would like! I owe you a big one!” he said, engulfing you in a hug. Though his body was warm, the hug felt as cold as ice. It felt like someone had ripped your heart open.
Your eyes watered. “No James I-”
“It’s perfect n/n. Thank you,” he said pulling away, eyes scanning the card again.
You felt sick, the tears spilling over.
“I’m gonna give it to her ok? See you later,” he said, running off.
He hadn’t even looked at you.
A sob racked your body, your legs giving in. How was he so goddamn oblivious?
But you never hit the ground.
Strong arms wrapped around you, the smell of honey and cinnamon enveloping you. They lowered you gently to the ground. “I got you love,” he whispered.
Sirius.
You curled into him, sobbing continuously and uncontrollably. You could hear people whispering all around you, but you couldn’t care less. “What is this ruckus?” came a strong feminine voice. “Goodness,” you heard her whisper. You didn’t open your eyes, and yet the tears never stopped flowing. Sirius’s sweater was wet now, and above all else, guilt creeped up on you. Why did you always allow him to pick up the pieces? Plus he liked this sweater a lot and now you were ruining it. You clenched your eyes tighter, trying to let the cinnamon scent calm you down.
“Everyone scram! Go on, get back to your classes!” she yelled.
You fisted Sirius’s sweater, as he ran a hand through your hair.  “Mr.Black, take her back to the Gryffindor common room, I believe she requires yours and Mr.Lupin’s attention. You three are excused from classes today,” She said softly.
God bless you Professor McGonagall.
“Thank you Professor,” Sirius responded. He brushed the stray hair from your face. “Love, let’s get you out of here yeah?”
You couldn’t open your mouth, not trusting your voice, so you just nodded, finally opening your eyes. He helped you up, nodding once to your professor as you both walked back to the common room.
His hand never left your shoulders.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were curled up on your bed, staring at your wall blankly, when Sirius came back with Remus. Both the boys’ pockets were full of chocolates, and Sirius was carrying his favorite sweater. The one which was also your favorite sweater. You sat up, taking it from him and slipping it on. James called it your “breakdown” sweater.
The James that would never be yours.
Your eyes overflowed with tears again, and you tugged your knees closer to you.
Remus quietly climbed onto your bed, wrapping his arms around your shaking frame, and Sirius sat at the edge of your bed, watching with concern. You didn’t say anything. Not when Remus excused himself to go keep James busy.
Not when Sirius took Remus’s place, pulling you into him. Not when he took out your favorite novel and started reading.
Not after you started drifting off, when Sirius placed a soft kiss on your forehead, whispering good night and slipping away. Not when everything in you told you to reach out and ask him to stay.
Not when you realized you still had his sweater on, and he hadn’t even asked for it back.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were awoken by the smell of butter on toast. And chocolate.
“Remus it’s too early,” you mumbled, burying your face in the pillow.
“Breakfast’s done already. Do you know what kind of excuses Sirius and I had to come up with?” Remus chided, shaking your shoulder gently.
You propped yourself up on your elbows, turning to face him. “I’m sure he didn’t even ask,” you grumbled, pushing the hair out of your face. Remus frowned at that. “Of course he did. Sure he might be a prick for not seeing the obvious but you’re still his best friend. He still cares,” he reached into his pocket, taking out a piece of paper.
“He wanted me to give it to you, since he’s got class,” he held it out to you. You stared at it for a few seconds before slowly taking it from Remus’s hands and sitting up straight.
-------------------------
Hey, hope you’re doing alright? The boys told me you’re down with a bad cold. Sorry I can’t come now, you know how it is with charms yeah? I promise I’ll come meet you as soon as I can.
-------------------------
You huffed, crumpling up the paper. The audacity! Remus shook his head, handing you the tray of food next.
“You’re such a hypocrite,” he mumbled. But you heard him.
“Me?” you asked, shocked. Remus nodded.
“How?”
He shook his head again, laughing slightly. “You’re mad at James for missing the oblivious when you’re doing the same goddamn thing!”
You blinked a few times, before his words settled in and your eyes grew wide. “You like me?”
Remus was taken aback, before he burst out laughing. “No you dummy, I’m talking about Sirius!”
“Ohhhhhhh.” You took a bite of the toast, chewing quietly. Sirius liked you? You felt your chest get heavy, an unfamiliar sensation flooding through you.
Guilt and…hurt? No, it’s like what you felt when you first started liking James.
“I know you love James, but can I offer a solution?” Remus asked you, one eyebrow raised. You nodded slowly unsure of where he was going with this.
“If there is just a tiny place for Sirius in your heart, give him a chance. If not, don't. I don't want to be there to pick up the parts for that mess,” he told you, popping a chocolate into his mouth. “However,” he held up a finger, “If any part of you, over the past year has felt anything romantic for Sirius. Please do ask him out. It’s been difficult taking care of both of you. Peter will drive himself completely, completely mad  if Sirius has even one more breakdown.”
“Peter knows?” you asked.
Remus laughed, “Why do you think I called you a hypocrite? It’s kind of obvious.”
Now that you thought about it, it made sense.
All the time he spent with you. The glances from across the room.
And goddammit, the look you couldn’t decipher.
You groaned, “Remmy what’ve I done??”
He shrugged. “Tomorrow’s the deadline. You still have time. While I have a date to fix,” he said with a smirk. You smiled, “Good luck!”
And then you were left alone. You looked at the half eaten toast, and then to your hand, where Sirius’s long sweater was bunched up near the wrist. You sighed. “Oh Siri, you golden-hearted boy.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After spending nearly the entire day in your room thinking, you made your way to find Sirius, knowing exactly where he was going to be.
“Sirius Orion Black!” you called out as you barged into his dorm room.
His head whipped around, eyes wide in shock. “It was Remus’s idea!” he yelled.
Your eyebrows knitted together in confusion. “Huh?”
“You’re gonna ask why James thinks you’re sick right? It was Remus’s idea, I just wanted to punch him,” He said, raising his hands up in defense.
“What? No, that’s not why I’m here,” you replied, climbing up onto his bed, sitting in front of him.
“It’s not?”
You shook your head. He had papers and books sprawled out around him. You realized he was catching up on school work, considering he’d missed all the evening classes yesterday. You felt bad, he had sat there comforting you, as you cried over another boy, while he was in love with you.
“I’m thinking you and I should ditch all the classes on the 14th,” You said, playing with the sleeve of your - his sweater. You slipped it off, handing it back to him, ignoring that the feeling of slight comfort which had helped you fall asleep last night was now gone.
He shook his head, “Looks good on you,” he told you, pushing your hand away. You gladly put it back on, the cinnamon smell wrapping around you again. Maybe you weren’t being oblivious to just Sirius’s feelings.
“Anyways, what do you mean?” he asked, running a hand through his hair.
“I mean we should go to Hogsmeade,” you shrugged. You didn’t know how to say it.
“We can’t? We don’t have dates,” he said, narrowing his eyes at you.
Were his eyes always so mesmerizing?
“Yeah I know.” You swallowed, your throat going dry. The feeling in your chest doubled, it was like drowning, and taking a fresh breath of air, at the same time.
He cocked his head to the side. That motion almost always had you laughing, he looked like a child! “You’re not making any sense n/n” he said, brows furrowed together.
You played with his sweater, looking down at your hands. “I-I’m saying we should go to- you know- Hogsmeade. The tw- The two of us. Together.” You looked back up at him, watching his expressions change.
Confusion to realization, then after a solid minute, “Li-Like a date? Are you asking me to be your date on Valentine’s?” he asked. His eyes were shining now, happiness ghosting his features.
You nodded, and he grinned. The biggest, goofiest grin you’d ever seen.
“Yes, I am. And hopefully be my boyfriend too. And I don’t want you to think that you’re a second choice or something, it’s just, I’ve been so blind, to your feelings, a-and mine and I-”
You were cut off, Sirius leaning over all his books, hands cupping your cheeks, as his lips landed on yours.
You froze for a second, before you responded, kissing back with as much passion and force.
When he pulled away, he was still grinning. “I don’t care. I get to call you mine now yeah? And I know you well enough to know that it’s not just to get James back or something.”
You smiled, nodding. He took your hands in his, your heart racing. Who knew even he could make you feel like this? Actually, no. With James it’d been pain, mixed with love. But here it was joy, a pure bliss that took you over from head to toe. “I’m going to go fill out that form right now, and make this official,” he pulled you close, pecking your lips once, before running out of the room. You laughed, your cheeks a bright red.
Who would have thought?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Feb 14th - Valentine’s Day
For the past week James couldn’t decide on an emotion. He was happy that Lily had finally decided to give him a chance. However, every time he saw you and Sirius, a weird feeling crept up into his chest.
He’d felt it before with Lily.
Jealousy.
And it made no sense, because why was he jealous? He should be happy for you.
But he knew why.
You would officially never be his.
Sure, he was pining over Lily. He was in love with her. But he couldn’t deny the feelings he had for you, that he’d harbored all these years.
So as he watched you and Sirius dancing around and giggling, he couldn’t help but feel like he’d lost something.
And while finally being able to call Lily his made him feel amazing, the thought that you were no longer his, felt like a stab in the heart.
“It was always him wasn’t it?” He mumbled to himself as Lily went to speak with Marlene and Dorcas.
“No mate, it wasn’t,” he heard Remus laugh next to him.
“Dammit the hypocrisy is real!” he said, shaking his head.
“What are you talking about?” James asked, still watching you as Sirius picked you up, spinning you around.
“It was always you. Poor Sirius bared the full force of it all, just to make her happy. You ran behind Lily for 6 years, Y/N ran behind you for 3 and Sirius ran behind her for 2. You know she used to say the same thing about you? That it was always going to be Lily?” Remus asked, turning to James.
James felt like he’d been slapped. “What?”
Remus shook his head again, “Oh Merlin, I can’t take this anymore.” And promptly walked off.
James stood there, feeling terrible, as the events of the past two weeks caught up with him. He’d been so invested in Lily, he hadn’t even realized that you were trying to ask him out.
So as he stood there, his own date not far from him, James wished he’d paid a little more attention to you. And though deep in his heart, he knew that you and Sirius and him and Lily, was the pairing that was meant to be, he couldn’t help but wonder what would’ve happened, had he not been so invested in someone who took forever to be his, when you were right there all along.
Hi sweetie (can I call you that? Sorry if it makes you uncomfortable) can I request something that goes like poly marauders x slytherin reader where they figure out they like reader and reader also likes them back but she feels like they don’t like her that way. Angst with fluff something like. Is okay if you can’t take care of yourself <33
a/n: i want to start off and say thank you for requesting and im so sorry i’m posting this late! but i hope you enjoy, this is my first time writing ploy! marauders so please be kind. also i’m not uncomfortable by you calling me sweetie!! :)
pairing: poly! marauders x slytherin! reader
having a crush on three out of the four marauders was just absolutely dense on your half. not only were you a close friend of theirs but james, sirius and remus were in a relationship together, joining in an already formed relationship seemed foolish to you. especially since they were so happy together. you gathered that james, remus and sirius just couldn’t see you in a romantic light.
so you decided to avoid them the best you could. and it wasn’t really that hard. considering you were a slytherin, you just hid in your dorm most of the time. other times where you would see the boys you would just ignore them. if they waved, smiled or even called out your name you would ignore them. and run in the other direction away from them.
“dove, you’re avoiding us.” you look up from the book you were reading and see remus, james and sirius standing in front of you in the library. you’re surprised they’re all in the library, especially james and sirius considering they hate to be quiet and being quiet is the mandatory rule in the library.
“i don’t know what you mean.” you mutter quietly, looking back to your book. avoiding their narrow eyes. “yes you do.” sirius, speaks sourly as you hear the chairs scraping against the floors. looking back up, you see sirius and remus have taken a seat across from you while james sits beside you with a strained smile. “no sirius, i don’t.” you snap back, closing your book. you start to gather your things ready to take your leave to avoid the boys once again.
“will you please just talk to us?” you turn to james, as you stand from your chair. his hair is a little messy from him running his fingers through it, his face looks more red than usual. he looks at you with an angry face. he’s angry with you. “we just want to know what we did.” he waves his hand around between him, sirius and remus. you look at each of the boys with anticipation. you finally let out a sigh and sit back down.
“are you going to talk to us now?” remus asks, he sounds and looks hopeful. you shake your head miserably. this will surely end your friendship with the boys. “well are you going to explain?” sirius ask,
“i’ve been avoiding you three because i want to be with you guys romantically.” you admit, with a gloomy tone. “oh.” they all speak at the same time. you start to tear up and wait for them to reject you. and then later on break up the friendship you guys had. “dove, what’s wrong?” you hear remus get up from his seat across from you and bend down beside you. “dove?”
“are you guys going to stop being friends with me?” you mumble out. closing you eyes. “no, why would we honey?” james ask, rubbing your back softly. “because you guys don’t feel the same.”
“we never said that.” you hear sirius speak, he standing beside remus, he’s not good with comforting but you hear the worry in his tone. you can see he’s trying his best. “what?” you look up from your lap. to look at sirius in disbelief. “we’ve never said that, love.” sirius tells you sweetly, as he moves to bend down with remus.
“we’ve all have actually liked you for a while now.” james admits. “we’ve been meaning to tell you, but you’ve been avoiding us.” remus explains. laughing a little at the situation you guys were in. “oh,” you utter dumbly to yourself. sirius laughs, you feel a little embarrassed but can’t help but smile at yourself.
i’m sorry.” you laugh out, still nervous and embarrassed for avoiding them. you feel slightly silly. “there's no need to apologize,” james rushes out, feeling bad at the thought that you needed to apologize to them. “but you could make it up by going on a date with us.” sirius smiles as he moves in to kiss your cheek.
I don't know you anymore (maybe I never really did)
let me wrap my teeth around the world - series masterlist here
Tumblr media
pairing: poly marauders x reader (gender neutral)
length: 1.7k
genre: fluff, angst (happy ending to come)
warnings: slytherin reader, some serious emotional dodging and avoidance but you know me it all ends up ok, peter is your bestie and that's just the way it is sorry, no happy ending YET but I promise it's coming this is not a tragedy
a/n: happy ending next week I love y'all too much to leave you with heartache
Tumblr media
"Sorry, love," Remus begins to bend down, hand reaching to pick up the book you'd dropped when the two of you collided in the library, but you quickly shoot your own hand out to snatch it up first. "What are you doing here this late?"
"Getting a book," you say plainly. Remus's brows furrow slightly, his eyes drifting over your figure as if to somehow see why you're acting so strangely.
"Alright, dove. We're all planning on studying pretty late tonight - you're welcome to join us. We can always sneak you back down to the dungeons whenever you're ready to call it a night." Remus is quiet when he talks, that soothing, soft air he has about him making your shoulders drop as you lean against the bookshelf next to you.
"As if I can't sneak myself around the castle without your help," you bite back playfully. A smile twitches across Remus's lips as he thinks, just for a moment, that you're back, that you'll follow him up to his common room and spend the night laying on a couch with him, your legs slung over James's lap while you throw wads of paper at Sirius's head. His heart thumps a little painfully when he realizes that he can't remember the last time you've done that with them - he can't remember the last time you've hung out with them at all.
It's as if you remember that fact at the same time he does, as the faint smile slips off your face and you straighten. "I can't tonight," you say kindly. "But thank you." Remus blinks as you begin to move past him, your polite voice ringing through his head. Like we're strangers, he thinks weakly. Except you're not even that nice to strangers.
Remus is busy slouching against the nearest bookshelf and wondering what they possibly could have done to make you avoid them so desperately but so kindly when he hears you let out another sigh from where you've walked past him.
"Wow," Sirius drawls as Remus turns to see him and James standing in front of you and you pointedly looking past them, like you're a trapped animal searching for the nearest escape route. "I'd almost forgotten you go here still." Your gaze snaps to Sirius and you narrow your eyes at him.
"It's good to see you," James interjects, seeing the two of you size each other up and eager to avoid a showdown between you and Sirius. "How have you been, love?"
"You see me in class almost every day," you snipe back at Sirius before turning to James. "I've been busy, and I still am now so - if you'll excuse me." With that, you slip between the two of them, exiting the library swiftly. Remus sighs and Sirius scowls at the now empty doorway, James opting to look down at the floor, staring dejectedly like a kicked puppy. No doubt you're holing up down in the Slytherin dorms all night now - as far away as you can get from them. Sirius smoothes a hand over James's unruly curls as Remus squeezes his shoulder comfortingly.
"We'll figure this out," he says gently, and as Sirius looks at him, he begs himself to believe it.
"You lost, Pete?" You don't look up from your book as Peter plants himself in the seat opposite you, frowning at you.
"Like we've never had breakfast together before," he huffs back, and you can't stop the smile that flits across your lips at the confidence that he's so clearly been nurturing. You close your book with a thump and place your chin in your hand, staring at him and waiting for him to continue. "Half the time, you're at the Gryffindor table. It can't be so different for me to come over here."
"Hm, maybe it's not," you shrug, picking your book back up to toss it across the table at him. "Read the back of that. You can borrow it when I'm done - I think you'll like it." Peter picks it up tentatively and gets about halfway through the synopsis before he's dropping it back on the table and crossing his arms.
"You're making them miserable," he says bluntly. You pout in a mocking sort of manner, but Peter's frown tells you that he doesn't believe you're as heartless as you typically let on.
"I thought you just came here to have breakfast with me," you switch tactics.
"Tell me what's going on with you," he pushes. You straighten up in your seat.
"Why don't you just ask them?"
"I have - they don't know. Every time they try to talk to you about it, you find some reason to run away."
"Would you like to see that first hand?"
"You can't run away from me. I'll cry," Peter insists. You sniff indignantly, mostly because you know he's right. The two of you stare at each other for a long time, and it's to your surprise that he doesn't waver. Your heart does something strange in your chest when you realize that his determination may be because this is more serious than you'd thought - you're hurting them more than you thought.
"They need to get over me, Pete," you say quietly.
"Why?" He presses.
"Because if they don't then this gets messy. None of us want that," you insist. Peter softens a bit, looking sympathetic.
"It's already messy." The bite has left Peter's voice as he reaches to pat your arm across the table. You look at his hand pointedly and he's reminded swiftly that anyone else who reached out to console you like that would get a smack from you. He smiles as he thinks of the kindness that lives in you that you seem to be blind to.
"I'll talk to them," you sigh, leaning forward to let your head thump down onto the table. Peter pats the top of your head gently and, for that, he does get a smack.
"James," your voice makes him stumble to a stop, whipping around to look at you so fast that you nearly run into him, sidestepping him at the last minute as he looks at you, bewildered.
"Are you talking to me?" He asks, confusion and surprise making his voice thick. Something painful twinges in your chest at his shock. Of course I am, you want to say. Who else would I ever want to talk to?
"Yes," is all you end up saying. James shifts on his feet and looks at you a little wearily.
"Are you ok?" He asks and a breath leaves your lungs quickly.
"I'd like to talk to you… if you have a moment?" James looks at you strangely, but he just nods and leads you out of the hall to the quiet courtyard. There's no, of course I have time for you, pretty thing. I always have time for you. It's just James, stiff and silent and hurting… because of you.
"Peter says I'm making you all miserable," you say bluntly, regret immediately seeping into you at the way James flinches, sitting on the bench in front of you slowly. You stay standing in front of him, looking down at the way he runs a hand through his curls.
"It's just," he begins, looking around as if to find the answer somewhere, or maybe just to find some way of getting away from you. "If we knew what we'd done to upset you then maybe we could make it better. You're just freezing us out, lovely, and that means we can't fix… whatever it is that's happened."
"It's not…" Now it's your turn to look around vaguely, wishing you could get out from under his sharp gaze. "It's not anything you've done. It's just - it's the way things go sometimes. It's ok, James, you just have to move on." But James's face hardens at that, a sternness you're not used to overtaking his features as he stands so that he can look you eye to eye. You have to tilt your head back to look up at him.
"That's what you want us to do? Just… move on? Forget about you? Pretend we were never friends?" The sombre tone in his voice doesn't suit him, and neither does the timid hurt in yours.
"Are we friends, James? Is that what we all are?" James blinks at that, taking a step back and sitting back down onto the bench rather abruptly. When he looks up at you this time, there's something akin to remorse swimming in his eyes.
"Is that what it is, lo-" the pet name dies on his tongue as he presses his lips together firmly. "I'm sorry. I thought - we all thought that you felt the same way about us that we do about you. We thought… we thought we were all more than friends with you and that you… I'm sorry. We never dreamt of making you uncomfortable." You scoff at his words, shaking your head fondly and toeing at the dirt by his feet with your shoe.
"Uncomfortable?" You say disbelievingly. "Please - you three are the biggest gentlemen I've ever met. I don't think you could make me uncomfortable if you tried." James's shoulders sag in relief, but the look he gives you is still that of a lost, confused puppy. You look past him to see a group of students hurrying to their next class and open your mouth to remind James that the two of you also are officially late, but he speaks before you can.
"Then what is it? Please, just… what did we do?"
"It's like I said, James… it's just a bad idea. It's wrong and I can't do this. I… we have to get to class."
But James doesn't go to class that day. He sits on that bench, staring at the place you'd been standing in, until Remus and Sirius find him that evening. And as the two of them tug him up and inside, all he can think of is how they really have lost you.
Killer Queen - Barty Crouch Jr
TW: female!reader, lustful and yearning boyfriend!Barty, slight Wolfstar, mention of Dorlene
Tumblr media
"You're searching for what?" Ask again Dorcas with a skeptic expression. You were shopping with her and Pandora at Hogsmeade in search of your costumes.
"A crown," you repeat again with a chuckle, "Does that sound so weird?"
"From you, a little bit," Dora smiled at you softly but a hint of amusement is visible in her eyes. You roll your eyes.
"It's an idea from Barty," you explain as you turn in an alley, "He wants to match our costumes for the party," you smile as you talk about your boyfriend.
"Oh and how the two lover-birds will be dress tonight then?" Dorcas asked with a smirk and teaseful tone of voice.
You glance at her with a mischievous glint, "That's a surprise," you tell her with a mysterious tone and a little smile.
"Well I can't wait to see that!" Says Pandora with an excited expression. You can't help but smile at her genuine joy.
"What will you be dressed as tonight Dora?" You ask her curiously as you enter a store full of Halloween costume.
"A fairy!" She says with a big smile and a joyfull tone, "Xeno said he agreed to be a fairy too," she adds with a dreamy expression.
"Oh that's cute," you say with a genuine look in your eyes. You walk into the little store, searching for your crown.
"Yeah, it maches your vibe. To both of you," Dorcas continue with honesty.
"I wish I was a fairy sometimes," Pandore mumble with daydreaming expression which makes both of Dorcas and you chuckle.
"What do you need for your costume Dora?" You ask her as you put a hand on her shoulder to catch her attention.
The blond girl turn to you with doe-eyes, "I just have to find wings," she says like she just reminded of what she was doing here. That makes you chuckle softly as you turn to Dorcas.
"What do you search?" You ask curiously but the girl smirks at you.
"Oh I'm just here to give my opinion, I already have all I need," she says proud of her. Dorcas is always to most organized, meanwhile you always need to go shop few hours before the party.
"Not surprising," you raise your eyebrows at her with an amused smile, "How will you be dressed then?" You narrow your eyes.
"A mermaid," she reply with a satisfied smile.
"Wow, that'll for sure catch a certain rocker girl attention," you smirk as you turn, fakely searching a crown in the middle of t-shirts. You love teasing Dorcas about Marlene, she always get rilled up and flustered.
And that time doesn't differ as you receive in the face a single boot. "Hey," you reply with a fake annoyance, "You know, one day you'll have to admit your more than obvious crush," at your words she throw you the second boot as you giggle.
As the night fall, the Halloween party began in the Griffindor's common room. Obviously because it has been host by no others than the Marauders, and you can't blame them.
Everyone is dancing and bouncing at the wizard music rhythm as the room is poorly lighted by red, blue, yellow and green flashs. The common room is crowed and the floor is covered in a dim fog, probably by Sirius.
When you enter the room, your eyes immediately search for your boyfriend that appears at your side in less than two seconds, his hand coming in the small of your back in a possessive manner.
"Hi my princess," he murmurs in your ear and you can't help but grin widely at the sound of his voice.
"Hey..." you turn your face toward his and get on your tip-toes to leave a kiss on his lips. But before you can't pull away he deepens the kiss, putting his hands on your hips and pulling you against him.
"I missed you," you mumble against his lips and his hums. He takes your chin in his hand and lift your face before leaving a soft kiss on your nose.
"Miss you at every second, princess," he reply with a side grin but a tender tone. You can't help but melt, you're so weak for this man.
"Okay, lover birds, enough of this or go find a room," you hear a familiar voice in your back.
"Mind your buisness Black," Barty roll his eyes but let go your chin anyway, putting his hand around your waist instead to keep you by his side.
You turn to look at Sirius, dressed up as a pirate. You're quite sure that Remus is dressed as his treasure, and that thought make you internaly laugh.
"What are you two dress as, huh? I thought you'd come with matching costume," Sirius say with a confuse expression. You look down at your costume, a bustier dark green dress that gives royal vibe. Then you glance at Barty and his blood strained clothes.
"We're matching," you frown and look up at Sirius who looks even more confuse now. This make Barty smiles, snaking his arm around your waist to pull you even closer from him. He lean his face down until his lips brush against your ear.
"D'you think he'll guess before the end of the night?" He whispers with an amused tone which makes you laugh in front of a, now, very confuse Sirius.
Though Remus don't wait any longer to joint the three of you, the golden of his costume giving you all you needed to know about your previous suspicions. The boy with the scars look up and Barty up and down with an analytic look before smiling widely.
"Oh Killer Queen, very smart," he acknowledge with an approving nod, passing his arm around his boyfriend's shoulders.
"Wh- How did you guess that so fast?" Sirius ask in disbelief. As Remus surf his shoulders with a giggle Sirius grabbed his face, "By Merlin, you're so smart, I love you," he told him before kissing him deeply. That makes you giggle and Barty lead you further in the party with a roll of his eyes.
There you notice Dorcas leaned against a wall of the red and gold common room, she's staring at Marlene who's at the opposite side of the room.
You approach her, Barty still glued to your side. As she sees you coming, Dorcas glance at you and Barty with a smirk, "Walk him like a dog I see," she says with a scoff.
Barty glare at her, "Well at least I'm not acting like a creep, staring at my crush all night from afar," he replied with a mean grin on his lips. You roll your eyes and decide to change the topic when you see Dorcas ready to jump at Barty's neck.
You look down at her, admiring her mermaid costume. She truely looked stunning tonight, wearing a bustier with a tight blue siren dress. Her make-up too is incredible, she was ravishing. "Dorcas you're beautiful," you tell her genuinly, "Oh Merlin, Marlene is gonna faint the second she sees you," you add with an amused smile. It's a little revenge for Barty that can't help but scoff in your back.
"Okay I'm leaving now," she says sternly with a roll of her eyes. Though you can see the nervousness in her eyes and you chuckle. You turn your eyes on your boyfriend.
"You're stunning too my darling, the most beautiful person here at my not so humble opinion," he smirks and wet his lips with his tongue like he wanted to devour you. Then you look up at him with an almost bashful expression when he leans closer to whisper in your ear, "And I love this crown on your head, you deserve a crown on your head, my queen." His lustful smile gives you chills and you mentally shake yourself.
"Thanks..." you say as you feel your cheeks turning warm. You look down at his outfit, taking in his white shirt stain in fake blood and his fake knife in his hands.
"Didn't know you were so sexy covered in blood though," you smile mischievously, biting your bottom lip between your teeth.
"Yeah?" He asks as his smirk widen, "You like the blood? Do you like the knife too?" He adds as he put the plastic blade under your chin to make you look up at him.
You hum a yes, your smile clearly teaseful, "I could get use to it, yeah..."
"Oh and they wonder why I love you," he sighs in a yearning manner, his eyes desperatly lustful. His words makes you blush and you can't help but smile almost shyly at his attention. He puts both his hands on your cheeks and lean in to kiss you deeply again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Oh my god! You’re in love!” Sirius gaped, watching James squirm under his inquisitive gaze. “You’re in love with Lily!” Sirius proclaimed loudly, the boisterous noise rousing you out of your room down the hall from the boys’.
“Wait, in love with who?” You asked, peeking your head around the doorframe of James’s bedroom, eyes blinking at the two boys sitting on the bed, facing each other. You watched as James’s face blanched further. You snickered under your breath at Sirius’s smirk.
“I said, he’s in love with Lily. It’s so obvious!” Sirius grabbed James’s shoulders, shaking him obnoxiously.
“I’m not in love with her…” James grumbled, standing from his spot on his bed to cross his arms and face you. “My dog thinks I’m in love with Lily,” James sneered, eyes narrowing when he caught sight of Sirius flicking him off as he leaned back and starfished on James' bed, unmaking his freshly washed linens. “No matter how much I deny it, he won't shut up. He’s insufferable!”
“But aren’t you in love with Lily?” You asked, stepping away from the doorframe and into the room. “I thought that was like, common knowledge to all of us?” You tilted your head, your smirk matching Sirius’s. “Sirius said that was all you would talk about last year. And Remus claimed you were so obsessed with her that it would literally make him sick to his stomach.”
“Oh! So I see I’m a hot topic of conversation,” James grumbled again, throwing a pillow at Sirius who laughed loudly, mocking James’s pout. “I’m not in love with Lily! I got over her last year!”
“Yeah! Only took you like ten months!” Sirius howled out a laugh, catching the pillow and throwing it back at James’s face.
You laughed, sitting at James’s desk and watching as the boys began to wrestle. You had no idea if it was true– James being in love with Lily and all that. Outside of the letters you received from the group, your window into their lives at Hogwarts was minimal. After all, you had been living your own life, secluded from it all at Beauxbatons Academy. Though in retrospect, as much as being away from your brother and your lifelong friends sucked, being away from your family made the distance all worth it.
When you received the letter from Sirius saying he was staying with James from now on and that he wished for you to come and join him, the sadness you felt leaving your friends and life in France behind was palpable, but Sirius was always your priority, just like you were his. If it wasn’t for him, you would have been primped and groomed into the perfect little Black, married off to pure blood, and expected to serve. Sirius had always protected you from all that, regardless of how steep the cost was for him.
Despite it all, your welcome at the Potter’s was unbeatable. James especially beamed with affection when he saw you walk through the front door of his home, luggage in hand. Before you left for France, you and James were practically inseparable. Since you were little, James was always ensuring you were included in whatever fiasco he would get into with the rest of the boys; always first to volunteer when you’d want to go read by the tree in his backyard or swim in the creek all day even though Sirius would get bored after an hour. James never left you behind.
“What else did the guys tell you, hm?!” James puffed, chest heaving slightly as he pushed Sirius back down on the bed with finality and approached you with a gleam in his eye; winner of the wrestling match.
“Don’t you dare,” You warned, putting a hand up to stop him. “I’ll kill you!” You laughed, leaning back in the desk chair.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” James feigned innocence, only stopping once your hand rested on his chest.
“Get her Padfoot!” Sirius’s boyish grin twinged with sinister intentions as he clambered up from James’s bed, abandoning you. He raced out of James’s room, laughing as his socks slid on the hardwood floor.
“You’re a coward!” You called out to Sirius, glowering when you heard Sirius’s door slam shut. “James, please! Mercy! Have mercy!” You laughed up at him, now placing both your hands on his chest to try and push him away.
“Hmm… I don't think so. Apparently, I’m so lovesick I can’t think straight.” James easily removed your hands, reaching down for your waist and hoisting you up and over his shoulder. “My inhibitions are so blinded by my love for Lily Evans,” He joked, ignoring you as you kicked and screamed for Sirius’s help; both your and James' laugh mingling as he ran out of his bedroom.
“Please! I’m only the messenger!” You pleaded, crying out when he raced down the stairs quickly. “I swear— if you drop me James!” You cried out, gripping the back of his shirt.
“When have I ever let you fall?” He laughed, purposefully feigning tripping on the living room carpet.
“Where are you taking me?” You slammed at his back, crying out as he ran out the back door of his house and into the gardens.
“For a swim.”
“You wouldn’t!” You kicked and screamed again, crying out for Sirius, who was sitting out his bedroom window, waving triumphantly down at you both from the third floor.
“Good luck!” Sirius yelled, grabbing the window and shutting it as James walked further into the gardens, following the stone path down to the creek.
“These things happen,” James lectured playfully, continuing his trek with minimal effort. “You should remember. Sirius and I are ruthless and just ‘cause you’ve been gone for a few years doesn’t mean you suddenly develop immunity to our antics, love.”
“James, please! I didn’t mean it! You’re not in love! You’re not in love with Lily!” You laughed, trying to wiggle out of his grip as he approached the dock.
“Hm, that’s not entirely true.” James tsked, his grip on you tightening.
“What does that even mean!?” You shrieked, trying to tickle your way out of his grip. “James! No! Please!” You laughed, screaming as he ran for the end of the dock, his grip on you never faltering as you both splashed into the water.
The water felt nice in the blistering late summer heat, but as you reemerged from the water, you shrieked again. “You idiot!” You splashed his face, giving him no time to recover as he laughed, swatting you and the water away. “You’re the worst.”
“We both know that isn’t true,” James grinned, treading water. “I’m your favorite.”
“Not anymore!” You splashed him again, escaping for shore as quickly as you could before he could splash you back again. “I hate you!” You lied, amping up the dramatics as you emerged from the water, clothes dripping.
“You act like we can’t instantaneously dry our clothes,” James snickered, following suit and emerging from the water. “Just a flick of my wand and your dilemma is solved.” James stood next to you, glancing up at the sky and basking in the sun for a few seconds, a bright grin on his face.
He reached behind himself, pulling his shirt up and over his head. “Lay with me?” He asked suddenly, undoing his pants and making himself comfortable on the sand bar alongside the creek and dock. He was clad in just his soaked boxers. “The sun feels too good to pass up.” He sighed, arms behind his head as he peered up at you.
“Who said I wanted to be anywhere near you,” You sneered, glaring down at him as you let your wet hair drip onto his face. “You almost just killed me!” You ranted playfully, already kicking your shoes off as you undid the buttons on your shirt. “I could’ve died and then you guys would’ve mourned me and my lovely personality for the rest of your lives…” You stepped out of your skirt, throwing your clothes on the same log James did his. The sun on your bare skin felt like a summer's kiss.
“Yeah… we would sure miss you…” James agreed distractedly, and you laughed, shaking your head at him.
“Never seen a girl in a bra and underwear before?” You teased, knowing fully well that James would never think of you as a prospect. Not ever. Before leaving for France, that thought would’ve crippled you with self-doubt and the sting of rejection, but the distance between you and him all these years served to remind you that James’s feelings, or lack thereof, weren’t because you lacked in any way, but because you were the sister of one of his best friends– and also his very best friend. There was no way his perception of you could ever be more than platonic. Though even after all these years, you couldn’t help the sliver in your heart still stashed away for James; hoping for a miracle.
“Ha ha very funny,” He mocked dryly, clearing his throat and looking away as you spread out next to him, sighing contently. You basked in the moment. In the warm summer breeze that lifted the treetops above you. The smell of the creek— the gurgling, bubbling noise it made. You looked over at James, startled to find him already looking at you, a small smile on his lips.
“I’m glad you’re back,” He admitted after a few beats of silence. His eyes were committing your features to memory. “I’ve missed you more than I’d like to admit.”
“You have no idea,” You volleyed back, reaching out to move a curl out of his face. “I could’ve been having the best day of my life back at Beauxbatons and I’d still be wishing to have you– and the other guys,” You quickly added bashfully, “by my side, experiencing it all with me.”
“Now we can be.” He beamed, turning away from you once more and soaking in the afternoon sunbeams filtering through the leaves. The sunlight danced on his face, his features even more striking than before. You couldn’t understand how someone could be so effortlessly beautiful. “You’ll love Hogwarts.”
You hummed in agreement, sitting in comfortable silence for a few minutes. Your hands fidgeted with the soft sand under your palms. You giggled when James’s hands met yours, playing with the sand too. You peeked over at him, but his eyes were still closed, a lopsided grin plastered across his lips.
“So you like Lily Evans?” You asked softly after a few more beats of silence. “Did you guys date last year?” You couldn’t help but ask, filling in the holes in your knowledge of the boys’ lives while you were gone.
“Pfft…” James sighed, eyes still closed. “Something like that.” He admitted lips now downturned. “I liked her until I realized that—” He stopped himself, opening his eyes and sitting up. “We just hung out occasionally. And we liked each other– snogged a few times.” He wiggled his brows down at you and you rolled your eyes with a laugh.
“Very classy, James.”
“Kidding, kidding,” He scrunched his nose, grinning. “No really though, it was just lighthearted. And anyway, my feelings changed after a while.”
“You fell in love and she didn’t?” You sat up on your elbows, blinking up at him. He did admit that his not being in love wasn’t the whole truth before plummeting the both of you into the creek.
“Hmm? What? No,” He laughed, shaking his head down at you. “Nothing like that.”
“But you said— Earlier–” You paused, collecting your thoughts. “When you jumped in the water you said it wasn’t entirely true. I just assumed that meant you were in love with Lily and it was unrequited.” You shrugged, laying back down.
“No, that wasn’t what I meant by that,” He sighed, looking away from you. Silence blanketed over the both of you again. You opened your mouth after a few beats, trying to pry once more. “I meant that I was in love, just not with Lily.” He clarified, interrupting you. You closed your mouth quickly, eyes wide.
“Oh,” you sucked in a disbelieving laugh, blinking a few times in shock. “Did she– how did…” Your brows furrowed, and James laughed at your lack of response.
“Yeah. A bit of a sticky situation,” He hummed, lulling his head from side to side. “It’s all gnawing at my subconscious. It’s all I think about.” He grumbled, rubbing a pebble in between his thumb and forefinger. “She’s all I think about, really.”
“Was Lily heartbroken when she found out? Why haven’t you told the others?” You sat up again, this time turning to face him.
“Nah. She understood once I explained it to her. Lily’s like that,” He chuckled lightly. “Told me I’d be an idiot if I didn’t do something about my feelings for this person soon.” He sighed, shaking his head. “It's never that easy though, is it?” He glanced over at you, a small smile on his lips.
“I wouldn’t know,” You admitted, swirling a finger in the sand. “I’ve only loved one person in my entire life— and now I’ve reached the point where it's better to just shut up about it than admit my feelings, I think.” You laughed pitifully, shrugging your shoulders. “It’s like that quote, ‘Is it better to speak or to die?’”
James watched you carefully, and you couldn’t help the twinge of a blush on your cheeks under his deep, pensive gaze. “Speak, one hundred percent.” He nodded, blowing out a breath. “Although speaking sometimes feels like dying all the same.”
“Tell me about it,” You grumbled, throwing a rock into the creek. “Do I get to know who this mystery person is that you’re in love with?”
James paused for a moment, and you swore you could read the conflict in his eyes. The secret was swimming towards the surface, on the tip of his tongue. “Hmm, how about no?” He teased, laughing at your frown. “Her name won’t slip past these lips.” He smiled, tapping his lips with his pointer finger.
“You suck.” You laughed, pushing at his shoulder lightly.
“So I’ve been told,” He grinned, pushing you back gently. “Wanna jump in again?”
“Obviously.” You grinned, standing up and reaching a hand down to him. He grinned back, grabbing your hand to hoist himself up. He didn’t let go, instead placing a chaste ‘thank you’ kiss on your knuckles as he led you up onto the dock.
“Bet I can do a better dive than you can!” He challenged, completely unaware of the blooming blush on your cheeks and the butterflies in your stomach. Even after all these years, this boy— he still was the only one that made your heart sing and your breath catch. No matter how hard you tried, you could never not be in love with James Potter.
God, Shut Up
Pairing: James Potter x F!reader
Summary: You and James had always been close but you think he's in love with Lily. Turns out you were just too oblivious to see who he really liked.
Warnings: underage drinking
Wordcount: 1.4k
Tumblr media
You and James had grown up with each other. Always attached at the hip, from the moment you met to now. After all these years you still remained the best of friends, despite your unrequited crush you've had for years.
The marauders sometimes found it annoying how you guys had your inside jokes and the secrets you kept. Well it was mainly Sirius but that's because he had always claimed the role of being James's bestfriend.
The week had been going slow so instead of paying attention to potions you stared at James who was sitting across the room. He was paired up with Lily Evans, again.
You didn't hate Lily, how could you. She was literally the nicest person you had ever met. It was no secret either that she was absolutely stunning too.
"You know, you should tell him" Sirius said breaking you out of your daze.
"What" You said confused looking at Sirius who was sitting in the chair next to you.
"Tell James that your in love with him... duh" Sirius says annoyed as his eyes wander off to Remus.
"Fine then tell Remus your in love with him" You spat back at him.
Sirius eyes narrowed at you before he scoffed and dropped the subject. Well at least you thought he had.
"You know I don't know where you got the idea I love Remus" He whispered to you.
"Really" You deadpanned before chuckling and going back to your reading.
"No really.. like where did you get that. I can have a best mate. Me and Remus are like you and James" he said before his eyes widened. "No that was a bad example.
"No it wasn't" You said laughing as you went back to reading the instructions.
Except it was a bad example because at least it was obvious Remus liked him back. James on the other hand clearly had no romantic feelings. How could he when he had Lily to fawn over.
...
The weekend had finally rolled around. Sirius continued to badger on about how you should tell James your feelings. Apparently he had a gut feeling that he liked you back. You just couldn't let yourself believe that no matter how much you wanted to.
"You coming to the game later" Peter asked looking at you as the five of you sat in lunch together.
"Of course" You smiled at Peter before briefly glancing at James who was sitting next to him. "I never miss them".
"James can i talk to you real quick" A flowery voice asked. You looked up to see Lily standing there as her long red hair glimmered in the light.
"yeah" James said as he stood up from his chair. "I'll be back" He said as you looked away from where Lily and James were. However when you looked back everyone's eyes were on you. James had told you specifically he'd be back.
"O- ok" You smiled not sure what else to say.
He followed Lily away from our table and out the great hall. You watched them walk out still confused on why he had pointed you out specifically.
"What was that.. did you finally tell him" Sirius said staring at you creepily.
"Um no".
"Tell James what" Remus and Peter said at the same time
"Nothing" You and Sirius said the same time causing the two of you too start laughing maniacally.
...
You hadn't meant to miss the game. You knew how much these matches meant to James, especially how much he usually wanted you there.
From the late nights of helping the marauders with there pranks to the lack of motivation you've had for the last week; your homework had started piling up. You decided that you could get some done before the game.
Of course that ended up being a terrible idea since you had fallen asleep whilst working on an essay. You woke up with your body aching and the feeling of parchment stuck to your face.
You had scrunched your eyes together expecting for the bright mid day sun to hit your face except there was no sun. It was completely pitch black outside.
Your face dropped as you heard the loud music coming from the Gryffindor common room. Shit.
You quickly ran out wanting to find James. Knowing him you knew he was gonna end up being upset. As you ran down the stairs. Sirius's voice boomed as he called out your name.
"Where's James?" You asked calmly even though you could tell he was black out drunk. He stumbled forward and you tried to help catch him despite him being much taller.
"Jesus ok" You breathed out trying to get Sirius to sit down. You pushed him down onto the couch. He grabbed onto your hand almost making you stumble onto him. Suddenly he yelled that he could see James as he jumped to his feet.
James head whipped toward you and Sirius. A smiled formed on his lips before his eyes drifted to you. His smile dropped as he stood up and grabbed a few bottles of beer and headed up the stairs.
"No James wait" You yelled as Remus came over to grab Sirius who was now laying on the couch looking dead. "Yeah can you um..." You start.
"Yeah of course" Remus said grabbing Sirius and taking him over to where there were water bottles and another couch. He sat Sirius down and unscrewed his water bottle making him chug the cold water.
Your ran as fast as you could and knocked on the dorm door rapidly. "James" You yelled knocking harder.
"What" He said opening the door slowly. Only enough where you could only see a sliver of his face. The light shined on his chocolate brown eyes and glowing skin making your heart race.
"I'm sorry... I know i told you I'd be there" you tried to explain. "Please I fell asleep, I'm so sorry" You said as your shoulders slumped. James made eye contact with you again.
"Just come in" He sighed opening the door all the way to let you in. James went to go sit in his bed and sulk as you stood there at the entrance of the room.
"It's fine, I just really wanted you to be there" he whispered after a few minutes, so quiet you almost didn't hear him.
"Was Lily at least there" You asked curiously. You knew that it was probably stupid to bring her up right now, but you had no clue what to say.
"Uh yeah" He shrugged. "What does Lily have to do with anything" He asked confused as he stared daggers into your head.
"I just wanted to know if you had the girl you like there" You blurted out but instantly regretting it.
"What" he blushed staring at you.
"Lily... you like Lily" You stuttered looking at his tomato red face. Had you been wrong somehow?
"No. No yeah uh no" He laughed awkwardly. He shook his head trying to come up with something to say to explain to you how he felt.
"Are you laughing at me".
"Yes" James said starting to laugh harder. The awkwardness had begun to fade as a smile peaked at your lips watching him laugh. Even though he was laughing at you.
"Lily's dating Mary... everyone knows this" He laughs as you blush beet read.
"Oh" You in fact did not know this.
"Plus the girl who likes me wasn't there" He admitted staring at you with a longing look.
"Oh sorry" You apologized feeling bad. "Oh" Your eyes widened as you realized he meant you.
"Oh god" He groaned. "You really didn't realize... honestly i thought the past year was you trying to nicely reject me" he laughed.
"I'm doing the opposite of rejecting you actually... wait what's the opposite, I'm open" You say. "Well that not right either" You laugh embarrassed as you tried to think of what you were actually trying to say.
James stalked toward you before grabbing your hips "God, shut up" He muttered before holding your body flush against his as he kissed you. His lips moved slowly against yours as his hands gripped your hips. A warm feeling flooded your body as he kissed you harder.
He pulled back breathless holding your face in his hands. "Thankyou" You smiled looking down at your feet.
He laughed lifting your chin up so you would look up at him. "Your welcome" he chuckled placing a kiss on your sweet lips.
hey i saw you were looking for fluff requests! what ab something with poly! marauders and it’s early in the morning and they just decide to stay in bed. maybe sirius has to convince remus to sleep in? and ends with rem reading aloud to the others. also i love your writings <3
thank you!! and thank you for requesting!🫶🏽
.
RING! RING! RING!
“Someone turn that bloody thing off.”
RING! RING! RING!
“I swear on Merlin’s tits, if nobody shuts that damn thing up—”
RING! RING! RI—
Sirius let out a sigh of relief, his body sinking back into the bed as he tried to let the lull of sleep take him in again. However, that peacefulness was short-lived when he felt someone rustling around on the bed.
He lifted his head, his eyes narrowed as he glared across the room where Remus was currently trying to pull himself out of the covers.
“Why in loving fuck are you awake right now?” Sirius grumbled. “Better yet, why are you not going back to sleep?”
Remus shot him a look. “Shut up before you wake them both up.”
“But why are you up?” Sirius countered.
“Sirius—”
“Can you both stop being so loud?” you groaned from your spot in the bed, nuzzling further under the duvet to try and hide yourself from the light peeking through the blinds.
“See what you’ve done?” Remus muttered with a shake of his head.
Sirius scoffed. “That was you and your fucking alarm clock.”
You slowly blinked your eyes open, glancing up at your boyfriend with a frown. “Why are you getting up?”
“I couldn’t sleep,” Remus sighed honestly.
“But it’s a Sunday,” you murmured. “We always sleep in on a Sunday.”
Remus’ lips twitched. “Love—”
“Get your ass in here, Moony, before she drags you in,” James grumbled, his face smooshed into the pillow with no attempt to even lift his head up.
Remus chuckled lightly as he crawled back into bed, pulling you into his side as you snuggled in happily beside him.
“Better?”
“Kinda,” you murmured with a small grin. “Read to me? You woke me up, it’s only fair.”
“Sirius woke you up,” Remus corrected.
“Did not!” The other boy called out, now nuzzled into James’ side who was probably already asleep.
“Just do it,” you muttered as you poked his side.
“Any preference on what?”
“None of that boring poetry crap,” Sirius piped in again. “I don’t like it.”
“You don’t understand it,” James countered.
“Shut up, Prongs, and stop talking,” Sirius huffed out. “You’re no good as a pillow if you’re talking.”
You snorted before lifting your head to look at Remus, big doe eyes that you knew he couldn’t resist.
“Fine,” he groaned somewhat dramatically. “I’ll read The Princess Bride.”
“I love you.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Remus grumbled before leaning down to press a kiss to your cheek. “I love you too.”
“And you love us!”
“Yeah, I love you twats too, I guess.”
Great Hall - Nov. 1 - word count: 376 - @wolfstarmicrofic
It was breakfast time at Hogwarts, and the Marauders were sitting in the Great Hall.
Sirius was pointedly silent, poking at his plate of eggs and bacon with a scowl.
Across from him, Remus raised an eyebrow. “Rough night?” he asked, trying not to grin.
The noiret grumbled something unintelligible under his breath and threw a narrow-eyed glance down the table.
Remus followed his gaze to where James and Regulus were sitting together, talking in low voices.
The older boy looked as if he were trying to coax a smile out of the younger Gryffindor, leaning in and nudging him with his shoulder, while Regulus attempted to keep his face stoic.
“Ah,” the werewolf said with dawning understanding. “So, you’re sulking because James is occupied with someone else this morning?”
“Not sulking,” Sirius said defensively, stabbing a piece of toast. “Just... wondering what the hell they’re doing together.”
“I don’t know- maybe they’re actually getting along?”
His friend scoffed, watching as James said something that made the younger boy shake his head, though he didn’t look as annoyed as he used to in the other boy’s company. “Regulus is probably just too polite to tell him to shove off.”
“Right, because politeness is exactly what your brother’s known for,” Remus replied, snickering. “Look, maybe they’re just talking about classes or Quidditch or-”
“Quidditch,” Sirius interrupted. “Bet you anything James is trying to recruit him.”
The dirty blonde rolled his eyes and tried to nudge the older boy’s knee under the table, but the noiret just crossed his arms with a huff.
“Oh, come on, you’re being ridiculous,” Remus whispered, finding and holding Sirius’s hand under the table. “Besides, this means you’ve got more time to focus on your other best friend.”
“Yeah? And who’s that, then?”
“Someone who’s far less likely to go around stealing people’s brothers, I’d hope,” Remus said, giving his hand a gentle squeeze.
Sirius finally cracked a grin, his earlier scowl melting away as he tilted closer to Remus.
Just then, James called out from down the table, “Oi, Remus! Siri! I was just telling Reg here that you two have been acting like lovesick puppies-”
“Shut up, James.”
The boy sighed. “Yes, Reg.”
“Oi, keep your hands off my brother, Potter!”
You weren’t sure exactly when this little feud started with Ron, but it had slowly progressed over time. It wasn’t quite strong enough for you to say you despised each other, the two of you could feign civilness in front of your shared friends and the adults of The Order. The first couple days at Grimmauld Place were miserable for you, without Harry to keep him occupied Ron had took it upon himself to wreak havoc on your belongings. It was your luck that the red haired boy had never had the best knack for charms and all your cursed, flying books were quickly ceased from their attempts to collide against your head. Hermione had tried reasoning with him but there was little effort in her recent attempts, given how you stopped down to his level and retaliated by turning his skin blue. Of course, you had successfully convinced Hermione that it was the twins who had put you up to such a prank, further planting the seed into her head that you were just an innocent bystander in the whole thing.
You hadn’t told your parents of what was happening between you and Ron, not knowing how they would react. Even in the wizarding world, they would not be considered normal parents. You knew all about their notorious past at Hogwarts and the Marauder’s Map. While you didn’t like a single thing about Ron, you didn’t particularly feel like watching him be crucified in front of your eyes should your fathers be revealed the truth of your sudden mood swings. Thankfully, Harry’s presence along with the return of the missing Aurors of the Order had distracted you both to put your squabbling at ease for the time being, focusing on your mutual friend. All had gone smoothly for the first night, but on the second evening, you had told Hermione to head to dinner without you, promising you would be following her shortly. You had finished brushing your hair and headed down one of the many long, narrow corridors to get to the dining room where everyone was waiting.
A small creak of the floorboards behind you prompted you to turn around and your eyes instinctively rolled at the familiar sight of red hair and blue eyes. You folded your arms over your chest and scowled at him, “Following girls around now? Should’ve known you were a creep.” Ron’s fists clenched at his sides and his face already turning a bright shade of red, causing a smirk to appear on your own. The taller boy stepped closer, glaring down at you, “As if I’d be following a pig like you anywhere, maybe you should go back to your room so there’ll be food left for the rest of us.” Ron had made little comments about your weight before, it was all his intelligence could come up with to insult you about. You weren’t bothered by his opinion of you, especially when you knew he was wrong. You scoffed and held your arms by your sides, not backing down from him, “You’re one to talk, shovelling shit down your throat for everyone to see. Go learn what basic manners are, if that’s not too difficult for you to understand.”
Your eyes glanced up at a very prominent vein poking out of Ron’s forehead and it took a small amount of effort not to laugh at how obviously worked up he was. He opened his mouth but before another word could come out of it, a hand clasped you both on the shoulder and your attentions were turned to your fathers standing to the left of you both. Remus put his arm around your shoulder, “Come come pup, we’re all waiting for you two, people will get the wrong idea.” Your face heated up in rage and disgust at the mere thought of anyone thinking you would even consider the possibility of doing anything with that horrid boy. Remus chuckled at your expression, “I’m only joking, we’re all well aware of how much you hate each other, but unfortunately, you can’t go about hexing people just because you don’t like them in the real world.” You frowned, “Why ever not?” Your father shook his head as he sat you down at the table next to him.
Sirius’ hand firmly gripped Ron’s shoulder to the point of being painful, causing the boy to wince from the pressure on his shoulder. Unbeknownst to the both of you, they had heard everything between the two of you and it had taken most of Remus’ strength to hold back Sirius when he heard Ron talking about your weight. Sirius smiled at Ron but it disappeared once you were out of sight, pushing the boy against the wall, taking his wand out and pointing it towards the cowering child in front of him, “If you even dare to think about talking to my dear little pup like that again, I’ll make you wish you were never born. Do you understand?” Ron whimpered as Sirius gently patted his cheek and ruffled his hair, putting his wand away in his cloak, “Atta boy, now hurry before your mother worries. I’d hate to have to tell her how you’ve been treating girls.” The fear of both Sirius and his mother was enough to make Ron dash into the safety of the dining room, his tail between his legs, and quickly sit next to Hermione and Ginny. He didn’t dare to look in your direction for the entirety of the week and you were more than grateful but you knew that something had happened outside of your knowledge.
Cut to a few hours later and it was nearing midnight, you had yet to hear another peep from the ginger boy despite there being a few instances he could have jabbed a quick insult in here and there. But no, he just kept his head down and didn’t seem to be able to look you in the eye, not even speaking to you at all. Don’t get me wrong, you were delighted with the change but you were curious to find out what brought it on. Your eyes looked over at your parents and the way Sirius was glaring at Ron told you everything you needed to know. You smiled to yourself and walked over to them, they were stood in the kitchen helping Molly clean up after dinner.
You wrapped your arms around Remus in a hug, “Night dad, night pops.” Remus didn’t hesitate returning your hug and let you go after a few moments to let you hug your other adoptive father. You hugged Sirius close and mumbled in his ear, “You didn’t have to tell him off you know, I had it handled.” Sirius chuckled and stroked the top of your head with his hand, looking down at you with a fond smile, “Oh I know you did dear, but I couldn’t help it, i have to keep my pup safe and happy at all times.” You smiled to yourself and gave Sirius another quick hug before heading upstairs to bed for the night. Once under the sheets you snuggled up to a black wolf teddy that your parents had gotten for you when you were little. You held it close to your chest as you drifted off to sleep, comforted by the fact you had the best parents you could ever wish for.
hey mae! it’s been awhile since i’ve sent an ask but im always reading your work girl! i love how you write tbh. if you’re up to it do you think you could write something with poly marauders, where the reader has trouble eating and making themself eat due to poor appetite. my appetite really does come and go and ever since covid (maybe before) it’s like eating makes me feel revolted. sometimes i just don’t feel like eating bc of other things like depression, adhd, anxiety. i was just wondering if you could write something with the boys helping out the reader with finding out what sounds good, cooking, and eating if possible. sometimes having someone around to talk to and hang out with makes it so much easier to deal -🌶️
Hey Pepper, thank you sm! And thanks for being patient with me <3
cw: lack of appetite, mention of skipping meals
poly!marauders x gn!reader ♡ 1.1k words
The sun’s going down, the last dregs of its light spilling brilliant and golden over the book in your lap, and you can feel your boyfriends starting to get restless. Well, two of them.
“If we’re missing half the ingredients,” Sirius says, trailing James into the kitchen, “it’s not going to be any good.”
James only tsks. “Ye of little faith. That’s what improvisation is for.” He starts pulling things down from the cabinet.
“You’re not even going to glance at the recipe?”
“I don’t need to. I know the general vibe.”
“Help!” Sirius calls towards the living room. “He’s gone off the rails. Remus, come fix it.”
Remus turns around to look over the back of the sofa, his shoulder brushing yours as he does. He’s sitting right up against you despite the couch being empty, not that you mind. Remus is sort of like a cat that wants to be near you but not always to be pet. His touches are often like this, passive gestures like a hand on your head or his thigh pressed against yours. It works for you just fine; you can feel the affection bleeding into you from any point of contact.
“Don’t you think we should just eat out?” Sirius asks, tilting his head and doing that thing with his eyes that you all pretend doesn’t work on you.
Impressively, Remus keeps his face impassive. “I’m having leftover brussels sprouts,” he replies, “so it’s not really my concern. Anyway, James has a good history with not following recipes.”
“Exactly,” James says, grinning at Sirius, who scowls. But then he fixes his gaze on Remus. “So why are you having that, Rem? Have what I’m making.”
“Because they’re going to go bad, and I’m not hungry enough for a big meal.” The last part is said somewhat quieter, directed towards the living room as he turns back around and picks up his own book.
Out of the corner of your eye, you can see James frown, but he glances at Sirius and they seem to collectively decide not to push it. Remus’ appetite isn’t much better than yours. He has his better days, but it’s not uncommon for him not to feel up to what your other boyfriends would consider a whole meal or to eat only chocolate until Sirius hounds him into something more substantial.
James looks to you hopefully. “You’ll have some, won’t you sweetheart?”
You wince, hating to let him down, and from the look on James’ face he clocks the guilt in your expression before even you get a chance to say, “I don’t think I’m really up to it tonight, either.”
James deflates, but he’s clearly trying to put on a brave face. “That’s alright. I think I’ll just save it for another night, then.”
“I’m sorry,” you say, setting your book facedown on the armrest and turning around to face him more fully. “You could still make it and just put leftovers in the freezer. Maybe I’ll have some tomorrow.” You wince again as soon as you say it. No promises, though.
The smile James gives you is comforting if not totally satisfied. “It’s okay. I’ll just make it another time, it’s not a problem.”
You return his smile, close-lipped. Sirius is looking at you with narrowed eyes, arms crossed like he’s sizing you up.
“What are you going to eat?” he asks.
“Hm?”
“What are you going to have instead?” You hesitate, and he tilts his head knowingly, a piece of hair slipping from behind his ear to drape over his shoulder. “You need to have something, especially since you didn’t have lunch.”
From the kitchen, James looks at you. “You didn’t?”
“I just…don’t feel like it.” It’s a feeble argument even to your own ears, and the look Sirius gives you says that he thinks so, too.
“You can’t miss two meals,” he says obstinately. “Even Remus is having some brussels sprouts.”
You look to Remus to be offended at the even Remus comment, but he only shrugs. You’re on your own.
“What sounds good?” he asks you.
You try not to pout. “Nothing. Everything sounds gross.”
“C’mon, baby.” Sirius leans against the countertop. “It doesn’t have to be strictly dinner food, yeah? Just anything that sounds like you’d be willing to eat it.”
You think for a minute. Remus touches the back of his hand to your leg, knuckles soothing over the skin beside your knee.
“I guess…ice cream sounds okay,” you say hesitantly. “But I know that’s not exactly nutritious…”
“Would a milkshake be close enough?” James pipes up.
You shrug. “I guess.”
He grins. “I can do that for you, lovie. Just gimme a sec.”
James is a loud cook. You go back to your book while cabinet doors slam and the blender whirs and there's a muffled “oh, shit” as something is undoubtedly dropped on the floor, but a minute later he’s bringing you a glass of something thick and chocolate-y looking. You smile at the added garnish of mint and a straw, reaching for it.
“Thanks, Jamie.”
He winks. “Anytime.”
Remus is the only one courteous enough not to obviously watch while you take a sip, and you feel your eyebrows raise as you look up at James.
“This is really good,” you say. He practically glows at the praise. “I didn’t even know we had chocolate ice cream.”
Sirius barks a laugh, and James’ smile widens.
“What?” you ask.
“We don’t,” he admits. “Will it ruin your appetite if I tell you it’s not actually ice cream?”
You shake your head, sucking at the straw. “I’m already drinking it, so.”
James beams. He really is looking very proud of himself. “It’s a protein shake. A pretty balanced meal, actually.”
“Oh, nice.” You grin at him, taking another hearty slurp mostly because you know it’ll please him. “It’s perfect, thank you.”
“Gotta keep our sweetheart fed,” he says, bending down for a kiss. Sirius and Remus’ hums of approval nearly harmonize, and you and James share an elated look while they both do their best to pretend like it didn’t happen.
“Can I try?” Remus asks, and you tilt the cup towards him in invitation.
He wraps his lips around your straw, sipping hesitantly. He looks mildly impressed.
“Could you make me one of those too?”
From the look on James’ face, he’d be delighted to. “Course, love.” He plants a smacker on Remus’ cheek and nearly knocks Sirius over as he beelines for the kitchen.
“This is just excellent,” Sirius gripes, but you see the satisfaction in his expression. “Now that you two have blown up his ego, I’ll have to eat something he makes too.”
“Correct,” James says brightly. “And you should be so lucky.”
“Alright, Y/n?”
James’ familiar accent practically shouted as he slid into the seat next to you, tugging the ends of your loose hair.
“Merlin, James!” You clutched your chest, startled by the sudden interruption. You were enraptured in your History of Magic assignment and the library had been so quiet before. “A little warning next time, maybe.”
“I am the warning,” He smiled slyly, “What’s wrong with you? You’ve been avoiding Pads like the plague.”
“Nothing is wrong with me, it’s only been four days for god’s sake,” You rolled your eyes.
His eyes widened, “I didn’t know it’d been that long or I’d have checked in sooner, Four days is a lifetime for the two of you.”
“You both are so dramatic.”
“Says you who won’t even tell your best friend why you’re not talking to your lover boy.”
You glare at the boy who didn’t know when to keep his mouth shut, “Now, you know damn well you’re not my best friend and for the millionth time me and Sirius are just friends.”
You slam the textbook you were reading closed and packed it in your bag, moving out of your chair and walking away. James followed closely behind.
“I’ll have you know we’ve been friends for longer than the lot of them,” He referred to the rest of the Marauders and the girls. “You should be able to trust me.”
“You asked me for homework twice before I’ve had a conversation with Sirius or the others, that does not mean we’ve been friends for longer, that just means you're a slick prick.”
“I’m gonna pretend your words don’t sting, L/n, but Im begging you-” He blocked the door to exit the Library. “Tell me why you aren’t speaking to the poor lad.”
You crossed your arms, frustrated, “The moment I tell you, you’re gonna be off tattling to Sirius.”
“I promise I won’t,” He spoke in a serious tone and you looked at him with a stern face. “Cross my heart.”
You had no reason to be ignoring Sirius the way that you had been, not really. After all, you were just friends- friends don’t get mad when friends kiss other people at a party. It was petty of you to have kept it going for this long but you were hurt.
Also, between you and Sirius, you were always a little more than just friends.
Nothing about the two of you was platonic and yet no physical act indicated that you were in a romantic relationship. It was known, it went unsaid, he was yours and you were his.
For years, it was an ongoing dance of lingering stares and near touches. As if the act of an embrace or a simple handshake will combust the carefully constructed invisible wall that you both had built on your friendship. It went unsaid that though you weren’t together- you are. Despite both of you being insistent on the status of your relationship as being just friends.
“He was with someone else at the party,” You confessed.
James scoffed disbelieving, “No he wasn’t.”
Your eyes narrowed, he definitely was- you saw it with your own two eyes, granted you were slightly inebriated but you couldn’t have conjured the image in your mind. If he didn’t trust your word it was fine by you, “Ask Remus if you don’t believe me then.”
“That’s why he hasn’t been in an uproar about this,” He placed his hands on his hips. “Right well, in that case, Pads was very likely drunk.”
“And this is why I didn’t want to talk to you,” You shove past him finally. “You’re always going to defend him, no matter what Sirius can do no wrong.”
“Forgive me if I don’t think Sirius would do such a thing, he’s absolutely mad for you Y/n, you have to know that.”
You paused in the middle of the hall, you bit your lip in thought and shook your head. “He’s not mine, James, it doesn’t matter what he does.”
~~~
When the Gryffindors threw a party celebrating the final win of the Quidditch season, all houses were invited, and you lost him in the crowd. Some part of you knew.
You felt the betrayal deep in your gut, though he would never do anything to hurt you willingly, a part of you felt like it was inevitable. That was the reason you held out for so long. Life was unpredictable and everything could fall apart in a second.
A girl hung around his neck, he looked stunned but smiled droopily barely opening his eyes before leaning into her again.
All the protection you formed around you had crumbled, your heart was shredded with sharp razors and the room was caving in. You shoved through the barricade of people cheering and dancing. You needed air, now.
You clutched your chest as you felt a pain come from your sternum, you couldn’t remember the last time you cried, this would be breaking the uncounted streak. You stumbled, dropping the firewhiskey-filled cup on a table nearby, and ran to a bucket of trash, throwing up the contents of an empty stomach.
Sirius warned you to eat and drink water ahead of time, the last thing you ate was breakfast 12 hours ago, the memory of Sirius made it so much easier for your upset stomach to clear out.
Gentle hands pulled the few strands of hair that fell out of our weak grasp, from your peripheral you saw Remus’ brown sweater sleeve. You heaved into the trash bucket, “Rem.”
“You’re alright, Y/n/n,” He rubbed smooth circles on your back.
“I think I’m gonna die,” Your eyes tear up from the sting in your throat and because of what you just witnessed.
Remus tsked, softly pulling you up from your kneeling position, “Up you go, love.”
You whimpered slightly, you were in a corner hovered over but more than a few people definitely see you spill your guts into the can you held close, this was going to be embarrassing tomorrow. Hopefully, no one was sober enough to remember seeing you this way.
“I’ll take you to my dorm to rest a little before I find Sirius and he can walk you to yours-”
You shook your head in protest, “No, I can’t. Get Lily.” Sirius could potentially bring his conquest up to the room and you didn’t want to see more than you already have.
He tilted his head in confusion, you weren’t up to explaining it to him right now so you insisted you both find Lily together.
“Weren’t you together?” He asked, his hand was on the small of your back, guiding you around like a lost child looking for their mother.
“He went to get me a drink, I was with Marlene, next thing I knew I was throwing up.”
“So why can’t we just find Sirius?”
“Later, Remus, I can barely fucking stand right now.” You held onto his shoulder as he walked you a couple of steps up the stairs to the boy's dorm so you both can get a better view of where Lily was.
You caught sight of her fiery red hair, giggling at whatever James spoke into her ear.
“Wait, here-” Remus steadied you on the wall as he went to pull Lily away from his flirty friend.
What was worse was that you saw Sirius searching the crowd, presumably for you, thankfully you were hidden from view. He found James who had pouted the moment Lily walked away with Remus, he stressfully ran a hand through his hair.
Your vision was blurry, the room felt like it was spinning and you weren’t sure if leaning against the wall was helping your nausea.
Lily and Remus had managed to get you to your dorm as efficiently as they could that night. The next morning you spent the day in your dorm, Saturday was spent avoiding Sirius, Sunday you went to Hogsmeade and Monday was the only day where you had no classes with him but during meal times you had barely said a handful of words to him.
~~~
Transfiguration class was busy and stressful with what Professor McGonagall had assigned. A full description of what was learned in class today, caused by the disruption of the lovely boys you called friends. James and Sirius wouldn’t stop interrupting class with their jokes which made everyone laugh but eventually, Mcgonagoll got fed up giving them warnings.
When she was over with her lecture, she told the class to have the essay ready by the end of class, there were only 30 mintues left.
You felt a poke on your side, you ignored it and continued with your paper. Another sharp poke stabbed harshly into your ribs, you slammed the quill onto your desk and turned to face your assailant.
The silver eyed Gryffindor was smirking into his hand that held his chin while he held onto the tip of the wand, handle side pointed at you.
“What?” You whisper shouted at him.
“Was hoping you could help me with my work?” He whispered softly to you with a charming smile that normally made you melt eased onto his features. You held strong, “No.”
His brows furrowed and a faux frown replaced it, “But darling-”
“No, Sirius.” You scribbled angrily on your paper. You were almost done with the essay, you just need a couple more sentences for it to be acceptable for Mcgonagoll. “You got yourself and everybody else into this mess, you get yourself out of it.”
He groaned a little too loudly earning him a look from the Professor, he sat up straighter and leaned closer to you, you both shared a desk and he already sat so close that your elbows would accidentally brush when writing notes or shifting in your seat. You could feel his heartbeat as his chest was touching your arm, his head was tilted to see your face but it was hidden by your hair.
You pretended you couldn’t feel him or the heat that was rising in your cheeks, with a finger he lifted the curtain of hair blocking your face and tucked it behind your ear.
“Please?”
You shot out of your seat making the chair scrape against the floor as you got out of it. You walked up to Mcgonagoll’s desk, handing her the paper and asking her if you could be excused.
~~~
When each of the rest of your classes ended that day Sirius was waiting for you at the door, he took the books out of your arms and walked you to the next one before going to his. During meal times he had his arm around your shoulder like it was something natural for him. It wasn’t even the casual loose arm around the shoulder, it was him pulling you so close that your head was forced to lean against his neck.
Not that you hated it, in fact, your traitorous heart lept in joy at every inch of attention he was giving you. Every now and again, your brain would pop in and remind you of the incident at the party that was the only thing you seemed to remember and your body would tense. The moment he felt you tense up he let you go, which ruined those perfect moments.
Each day something more was added. It made your body tingle in excitement at how it remembered Sirius’ burning touch. His arm, his leg, his fingers- his lips. Nowhere near your lips and it made you yearn for the feel of them.
At breakfast, he kissed your temple in greeting.
In class, if you had one together (he would always sit with you) his arm would be around your chair, and not only would he play with your hair but when he would stop, he pulled you into his side, tracing his fingers along your arm.
In the common room, if you were sitting next to each other on the couch, he pulled your legs onto his lap and traced the same patterns that he would in class.
After the Quidditch game this weekend against Ravenclaw, Gryffindor won and Sirius pulled you in a sweaty hug, twirling you in his arms. Once he set you down, the way he grabbed your cheeks and pulled you in you thought he was going to kiss you- instead, he kissed both of your cheeks.
The party that weekend wasn’t as big, most everyone from the last one still recovering but Sirius stayed by your side the whole night. It was half the crowd from last time but Sirius made it his sole mission to scare off any guys who weren’t in your inner circle.
You had to admit that this party made you think of the last one and it wouldn’t budge from your thoughts until you had enough liquor in you that you didn’t care.
Sirius held you close by your waist as you danced to Killer Queen by Queen, your back was against his chest, and in your tipsy state your head laid back against his heart as you swayed in an upbeat motion to the tune of the song. You and Sirius were singing along to the lyrics annoyingly to your friends.
By the end of the night, you didn’t know how much you could take of this before you exploded. You went back and forth between loving the attention and running from it, you weren't sure who was playing with your feelings more, him or you.
~~~
This went on for a week, by the evening of the next Monday, you needed to put a stop to this before your feelings overwhelm you. During this time, you've debated on what caused the sudden change in affection and the only logical reason you could think of was James.
“James Fleamont Potter!” You marched into the Gryffindor common room, straight to where Lily was surrounded by books on a desk, the boy you were looking for in a seat right beside her- no doubt attempting to woo the poor girl who was just trying to study. She pretended to be bothered by him, you knew the truth but none of that mattered at the moment.
Apparently, he didn’t hear so went around the desk and dragged him up from his seat by his collar and cornered him on the wall behind the desk.
“You told him, you told Sirius and now he’s acting different!” Your forearm was on his throat, he glanced down at his wand. “Try it and I’ll jinx you so hard you won’t be able to turn into a stag for a long, long while.”
He gulped as he looked down onto your furious face, “I would never!”
“What the bloody hell is going on here?” Remus held a bewildered expression once he came down the steps of the boy's dorms. You glared at James, releasing your hold on him and taking a couple of steps back.
You pointed at the boy who was rubbing his neck, “He told Sirius about the party!”
“I did not, I swore I wouldn’t-”
“Liar!”
You and James bickered for several seconds, both of you not hearing the other until Lily slammed her textbook loudly.
“Enough,” She shouted, “Both of you are behaving like children!”
“She started it,” James muttered. You huffed, “I hate you.”
“You know what? Maybe he’s acting different because you can’t even look him in the eye when you speak to ‘im and trying to get you to pay attention to him, you loon.” James blurted out and finished off his statement with his arms crossed.
Remus took a step in your direction and asked you in a careful tone, “Y/n, would it really be so bad if Sirius knew?”
“If I knew what?”
The subject of discussion just walked through the portrait, your heart stopped at the thought of him possibly hearing your entire conversation. Nobody said anything but you felt everyone’s eyes on you, you only held onto Remus' stare and walked up to the girl's dormitories, not wanting to deal with this mess.
The way he was acting differently was the way he was being more physical with you. The tuck behind your ear, the wrapping of his arm around your shoulders, the caressing of your face for you to look him in the eye. Something you’ve avoided since the incident.
Physical touch was something that you and Sirius didn’t do. To touch each other for something other than comfort in a time of need, was an admission of something that was unspoken. Those careful touches were full of care, admiration, and love. As if you could ever touch each other with meaning less than that.
It was so simple that it was never done unless one of you was hurting, or if it was necessary for a task.
The accidental brush of fingers was the one that sent a spark up your spine. His pinky would twitch against yours, or yours against his and you both knew but that was the most that either of you would allow.
There were times were he would have his arm around your chair, and he would play with the ends of your hair, never actually touching you.
The only time that was an exception was when Sirius did something wrong, in which case he would do what he was doing now and was more physically affectionate. He was a puppy rubbing his head against its owners leg to gain favor for chewing on their owners' shoes. The analogy felt fitting, and that’s what you told Lily when she came to the dorm after you, asking what was wrong.
She laughed heartily, “Well, he’s not called Padfoot for nothing.”
You laid back against the headboard of your bed, “With all these signs, he knows.”
“Those aren’t bad signs, Y/n, it’s quite the opposite actually.” She advocated for Sirius’ behavior, “That’s the equivalent of a man sending flowers to his girlfriend.”
“But I am not his girlfriend”
She sighed, “I’m sure you two have heard this a lot, but you might as well be. This affliction with touch as a way to avoid your feelings doesn’t change that.”
She was right, you knew it- Sirius knew it, there was just something that prevented you and Sirius from taking that step. You felt like it was his fear of commitment and for yourself… as much as you would’ve loved to hear how Sirius feels out loud, what you had with him as friends was safer than ending up with a broken heart.
~~~
Tuesday after classes, the Marauders wanted to go out, but out they meant the Black Lake. Lily suggested a picnic and whatever Lily wanted, James provided.
Remus and Peter set up a large blanket, Marlene, Dorcas, and Mary held hands swinging them along while Mary held the basket. Lily and James walked behind them as you and Sirius trailed after.
Sirius halted you by intertwining his hand with yours, you looked up at him in question.
“Can we talk?”
You look over your shoulder at your friends- none of whom were paying any attention in your direction- traitors.
“Sure,” You give him a small smile.
Sirius’ silver eyes intimidated you, his beauty in his tall stature, his style, and his bone structure was pure elegance but his eyes are what you loved the most. They sliced through every rational thought you had and turned your legs into jelly, they held yours so gently it made you want to jump at his every request.
“I know why you’ve been so off with me lately,” He started and leaned his back against the tree with his hands in his front pockets.
Your eyes narrowed, and your eyebrow quirked for him to continue, “Go on.”
“It’s cute actually,” He was playing with you.
“Aren’t you going to tell me why you think I’ve been off?”
He tsked, “Now, where would the fun be in that? I wanna hear you admit it.”
You weren’t going to, “You’re the one who wanted to talk, you admit it.”
He pushed himself off the tree and stepped directly in front of you so that he towered over you, you had to bend your neck upwards to meet his gaze. He held your face in his hands so lightly, it was as if he expected you to break in his grasp.
“I admit to knowing that you saw me kissing that girl at the party, I saw you looking” You turned your head from him- pissed that he knew you were looking while kissing that girl but he snapped your head back to face him. “I was drunk, and she pulled me to kiss her, honestly I think she was wearing your perfume or something ‘cause I thought she was you. It’s not excusable I know but it’s the only one I’ve got, you’ve gotta believe me, dove.”
You didn’t know what to believe, whether you wanted to or not.
He searched your eyes for a reaction but you kept your face calm, the only sign of anything was your eyes flickering between both of his.
“I love you,” Your eyes widened. “I love you more than I’ve ever shown you, Y/n, and that’s all my fault because I should have told you. I can’t even begin to explain how fucking in love with you, I am.”
“Sirius-”
“Y/n.” He slightly shook you in his hands, “I need you to understand, Please. I wanted you to tell me that you loved me too, that it wasn’t just in my head. That you were jealous when you saw her when I should’ve gone after you, I wanted you to tell me that night or this week that you want me just as much as I want you. I was wrong, it was wrong of me,” He sounded breathless.
You couldn’t help it, your eyes flickered to his lips, you didn’t care anymore. His confession unlocked something in you that you just wanted to feel his lips finally, adoration filled your chest and any doubts about confessing were gone. He leaned down so that his forehead pressed against yours and your noses brushed, it was teasing.
He didn’t stop you when you nudged your nose against his and finally kissed him. It was a long, passionate, desperate kiss that left you desperate. Sirius turned his head and brought you so incredibly close, the kiss deepened and a heat rose from your body.
You smiled in the kiss and how long it’s been, you pulled away, your eyes filled with a new light, and you pecked his lips, “I love you more.”
“Impossible,” He kissed you some more before you joined your friends who didn’t bother to hide their cheeky smiles.
“How much did you guys hear?” You asked as you sat and leaned against Sirius on the blanket.
James’ smile widened with mischievousness, “Everything.”
The rest of them nodded and continued their conversations, as mid-afternoon turned to night, you and Sirius were the only ones left behind with the food as the others went out onto the dock, play fighting you saw James get tossed into the water by Remus.
“I know we weren’t into labels before, but I’d like to make it known that you’re my mine now,” Sirius whispered in your ear.
His words sent shivers down your spine, “Oh is that so?”
“You were as good as mine, Y/n,” Sirius confessed. “I was the idiot that didn’t make it clear enough to let you know how much I want you as my girlfriend.”
“And this is you asking,” You said it more as a statement.
“Unless you don’t want to be which is hardly believable with the way you kissed me earlier- honestly, Y/n- you’re quite the kisser, I always knew you would be but Merlin,” He spoke with an exaggeration to compete with James’ dramatics.
You lifted your body from him, sat on your knees, and straddled his legs, crawling up to meet him, “I would love to be your girlfriend.”
He chuckled, grabbing onto your hips “My little temptress,” He stroked his thumb against your cheek lovingly, kissing you softly.

“He’s staring at you again,” you commented, barely looking up from your book as you adjusted your position so your head was sat more comfortably in your boyfriend’s lap. James stared down at you and sighed.
“He doesn’t stare at me. He’s probably staring at you.”
“I’ve seen his eyes follow you, James. It’s not me he stares at.” You were talking about Regulus Black, who was also laying in the grass on the other side of the courtyard and pretending to listen to whatever shit Barty Crouch was spewing.
You noticed that Regulus would stare at James any time he saw him from Regulus’s first year at Hogwarts. You initially assumed it was because James was Sirius’s best friend and young Regulus would have done nearly anything to seek his older brother’s approval. Even when it became clear that Sirius was not going to give any such approval, Regulus continued to stare. You certainly couldn’t blame Reg, James was gorgeous. His sharp jawline, his easy laugh, his arms strong from Quidditch, his skin beautifully tanned from all the time he spent outside. And most of all his infectious kindness. Those were all the reasons you had fallen for him. But James couldn’t see it. Or wouldn’t.
James was ready to rebut your statement when Remus and Sirius flopped down next to you on the grass.
“What’ve you two been up to?” Peter asked, taking stock of the boys’ pink cheeks. You had almost forgot that Peter was there. He more often than not third wheeled you and James, saying it was far preferable to third wheeling Remus and Sirius. You suspected it was more so because James was far too polite to tell Peter to fuck off.
“Took a walk,” Remus said at the same time as Sirius said,
“Had a quickie by the lake.”
You burst out laughing as Remus turned a deep shade of red and punched Sirius’s shoulder.
“What the fuck happened to discretion?” Remus snapped.
“It’s alright, Remus. James and I had a quickie by the lake earlier today too,” you grinned. It was James’s turn to blush and he stammered,
“You and Sirius are animals.”
You and Sirius laughed and high-fived. Your jovial attitude was apparently ill received as the younger Black stood from his patch of grass and stalked over to you all. Sirius immediately shot to his feet, as did Remus to hold him back.
“What the fuck do you want, Regulus?” Sirius asked coldly, his head held high in order to look down on his younger brother. The sun seemed to glint off of Regulus’s sharp cheekbones as he sneered,
“I’ve heard a rumor about you, Sirius.”
“I’ve heard one about you.” Sirius said, his eyes flashing dangerously. You and James were on your feet now too, anticipating the incoming storm that could only occur between Regulus and Sirius Black
“I’ve heard things about you and Lupin.” Regulus said, narrowing his eyes as he looked Remus up and down.
“What kind of things?” Remus asked, his hand still firm against Sirius’s chest.
“I’ve heard you two are in a relationship.” Regulus hissed.
“We are.” Sirius said simply, grabbing Remus’s face and kissing him deeply. Regulus looked gobsmacked.
“You-you’re going to hell!” Regulus stammered.
“I heard you’re a death eater,” Sirius said, grabbing Regulus’s arm quickly and tearing his sleeve up to reveal the dark mark, “so I guess I’ll see you there.”
Sirius then turned cooly on his heel and stalked back towards the castle, hand firmly in Remus’s. You all followed, you turned back only once to see that Regulus was glowering at you and James.
“He’s staring at you again.” You nudged James. You were at dinner this time, two days later and James was still upset about the situation with Sirius and Regulus.
“I just don’t get how he could say that to you!” James was saying to Sirius. “It’s just…it’s so intolerant! So homophobic! It’s terrible!”
“He’s Regulus. I don’t know why you’re surprised. Honestly went better than I thought. Thought he was gonna hex me or something,” Sirius said with a shrug.
“Yeah Prongs, newsflash. People are homophobic.” Remus clearly wasn’t torn up about it either.
“James! He’s staring at you again.” You repeated, tugging on James’s sleeve. James turned to look at Regulus. Sure enough he was staring and once James looked over, Regulus blushed and dropped his head.
“Just forget about him.” Sirius suggested, “We have.”
James couldn’t let it go. You and him were on a late night walk, trying to find some place in the castle you could hook up in. Sirius and Remus had claimed the dorm room and exiled Peter to the common room. Marlene had Yaz in the girl’s room and Lily would have had your head if you had even tried to bring James there. He was still stewing as you walked.
“Regulus is just so awful to Sirius. And he knows better. He should know better. I just hate him so much and I’d honest to god kill him if I knew that Sirius wouldn’t be a little cross with me about it.” James was ranting. You had finally found a classroom that wasn’t locked and you pulled James into it.
“James, baby, please. Stop talking about Regulus. God, I almost feel like you want him more than you want me.” You said with an eye roll.
“What?”
“You haven’t stopped talking about for two entire days. You honestly sound like you want to hate fuck him.”
“What the hell is wrong with you?” James looked appalled.
“Just saying. Hate and love are really close emotions. It makes sense that you would be a little confused about it.”
“Confused? What the fuck could you mean?”
“James. Haven’t you noticed that the entire time you ranted about Regulus you’ve gotten harder and harder?” You looked down at James’s pants which were practically tented with how strong James’s erection was. James was surprised at this and shook his head.
“Channel this energy,” you said, holding his face in your hands, “and fuck me really really hard.” You smashed your lips against his. He resisted at first before giving and and kissing you back. It was toothy and intense and you think James might have bit you a few times but it was delicious and it was different. Your clothes were coming off and were being thrown in every direction. James had you backed onto a desk as he was fumbling with his belt buckle, his lips still on yours when you heard the door to the classroom creak open.
“Fuck,” you cursed, crossing your arms over your chest and turned to see who had spoiled your fun. When you saw it, you couldn’t help but giggle.
It was Regulus Black.
“What the fuck do you want?” James barked, pulling his belt out of the loops and unzipping his pants. You were a little confused as to why he wasn’t stopping but you weren’t any less turned on.
“I’m,” Regulus had to clear his throat, “I’m doing prefect rounds. I ought to give you a detention. What are you even doing?” Regulus was walking slowly towards James.
“Hi Reg,” you said, leaning up on your elbows so Regulus could see you. Regulus froze in place when he saw you and scowled.
“Oh, a hundred points from Gryffindor.” He hissed.
“You have no authority to do that and you know it.” James growled.
“Come on Reg, we’re just having a little fun.” You said with a light shrug.
“Shut the fuck you stupid halfblood.” Regulus snapped.
“That’s it. Perfectus totalus.” James pointed his wand at Regulus. Regulus went rigid and dropped to the ground. James maneuvered Regulus with his wand so Regulus was sitting in a chair facing the desk you were laid on.
“I’m tired,” James said, raking a hand through his messy hair, “of your bullshit. I know you’re in love with me, Reg. Everyone has noticed you staring at me. But you’re a piece of shit and awful to my best friend and my girlfriend so now you’re going to watch me fuck her brains out.”
You got even wetter at that. James turned back to you and attacked your neck, leaving large teeth impressions around your neck and clavicle. He pushed two fingers into you, causing you to throw your head back and moan. You kept your eyes open and on Regulus. He was staring at you with a mix of hate and lust, his pupils blown and his fists balled. The hex seemed to be wearing off but he made no indication that he was going to move from his seat. James added another finger inside you and curved them so they brushed against your g-spot. You moaned again, grasping James’s wrist and fucking yourself on his fingers. James was moaning with you, obviously extra turned on by the situation. He pressed his thumb against your clit and began moving it in quick small circles and you came, moaning James’s name and carding your fingers in his hair. He kissed you again before taking his cock out and helping you off the desk. He turned so he was facing Regulus and pushed your head down towards his cock. You took the hint and started to suck him off, relaxing your jaw and gently massaging his balls with your free hand. You looked up at him but James’s eyes were fixated on Regulus. James had his hand on the back of your head and he pushed your head suddenly against him. Your gag reflect instantly activated and you were gagging and spitting around him but you noticed that James barely seemed to care and then you heard Regulus moan. James released you and you fell backwards, breathing heavily and looked between the two boys. You were right. They did need to hate fuck but you had a feeling that wouldn’t happen tonight. Tonight, James wanted to punish Regulus. Make him a voyeur.
James grabbed your arm roughly and pushed you back onto the desk. He kissed you deeply and you could tell he felt a little bad about how rough he was being but one quick finger to your pussy and he would have seen that all it did was make you wetter. James pushed inside you. You moaned loudly, locking eyes with Regulus. Regulus’s erection was straining against his pants and his nails were digging into his palms. There were beads of sweat forming on his forehead.
“He’s so big, Regulus,” you whispered as James fucked you. You were getting close and so was James. His thrusts were getting sloppier and his breath was heavy on your neck.
“He feels so good, Reg,” you said again.
“Shut up,” Regulus said through clenched teeth. That got James’s attention as his head snapped up and looked back at Regulus. You came around James’ cock, moaning loudly and raking your nails down James’s back. James pulled out of you before he came and stared hard at Regulus.
“Come here,” he said, practically vibrating with rage, “and suck my girlfriend’s juices off my cock.”
You could only stare at Regulus as he stood on shaky legs and walked over to James. He fell to his knees and stared up at James with wide eyes before taking James in his mouth. James’s eyes shut and he carded his fingers in Regulus’s hair before pushing Regulus’s head down on his cock roughly. Regulus’s eyes shot open in surprise and he gagged, his fingers pressing bruises into James’s thighs.
“Don’t stop, I’m going to cum.” James commanded. Regulus’s eyes were tearing up but he was nodding and opening his mouth even wider for James. James came and Regulus was caught by surprise swallowing some of it but backing away too quickly so his face and hair were coated the remainder of James’s cum.
Everyone took a moment just to steady their breathing before James looked down at Regulus and said in the coldest voice you had ever heard from him,
“Don’t you ever call my girlfriend a dirty half blood or tell my best friend he’s going to hell again. Now get out of my sight.”
