I rarely get fed such genuinely fraught dynamics as their one in manga#so i became obsessed#and walked through the desert alone for 40 years and then checked in as anime started airing that other people ship this and gaf#and decided to unleash the jokes and ideas that my like 2 friend who like anime previously suffered alone as though they were jesus christ#now tho as much as I still enjoy tragedy and pain and emotional suffering I’ve let love and peace and requited fulfilled yaoi into my life#with laishuro. and its great!#my comics

As much as I joke, I should note that I don't actually see Bill as a sweet little innocent baby who couldn't do no harm.
It's hard to explain but: Do I still feel bad that I now know he didn't intend to destroy his dimension and carries that grief, and that truly he's a desperate person trying to find him and his friends a home to stay in so they don't disintegrate when the edge of the world approaches them? Yeah. Does that mean id be totally fine if he had taken over earth and turned it into the nightmare realm? HELL NO! Get that dorito bastard away from my dirt!!!
Do I feel bad that he's suffering in theraprism? Kinda, yeah. Do I find it hilarious that he's suffering in theraprism. Absolutely. Is that a question? That's fucking awesome. These coexist simultaneously in my mind.

Do y’all ever think about how Vegeta’s only ever mad at Freeza for what happened to his planet and he’s never mad at Freeza for what happened to him because I think about that a lot
#Like I think the anime portrays their relationship as much more abusive but Toriyama seemed to be consistent in the implication that#Freeza treated Vegeta VERY well — even Vegeta talks about his time on the frontline being voluntary and the only time he talks about being#“Worked like a slave” is to describe how Zarbon treated him. In the manga Vegeta implies Freeza usually refers to him with fond greetings#‘my dear’s and the like. Freeza was so quick to offer him a promotion in ResF and coo about Geets’ loyalty — which I think about a lot#as well — especially in terms of how totally fine Vegeta used to be with killing other saiyans but that’s another essay#Point is. I’m a huge fan of gilded cage theory. Not quite Mother Gothel levels like they’re a corporate military but I do always describe#Geets as Freeza’s favorite wardog and I think a big part of the culture shock for Vegeta having healthy relationships with people is#The idea that relationships do not have to be transactional with value based on performance — because if Freeza was always fond of Geets#In the way that King Cold is fond of Freeza (which seems true based on Freeza offering Goku Vegeta’s job right after he dies iirc) then it#For all the fucked up things that it is — was the most supportive relationship Vegeta had up until Bulma (or Gohan). At least from someone#who wasn’t dependent on him like Raditz and Nappa were — which loops back into transactional dynamics even if/though they were sincere.#What I’m saying is#The learning curve was so steep for this man and he still (hesitantly) took the offer to borrow some climbing gear and get to work#And I love him your honor what a great character#dbtag#headcanons

overall a very weird dw season to me. i really like the middle 4 episodes, and thought the first 2 and last 2 were okay-to-bad. for only 8 episodes 50/50 isn't a bad track record but i think the season arc and character drama doesn't land so the season is less than the sum of its parts. much better than chibnall era, still not on the level of s1-10 dw and probably my least favourite rtd series. and yet i have hope!! bring on season 2 i want to see varada sethu
#blahs#dw#in terms of rtd seasons i think s1 and s4 blow this out of the water spectacularly#series 3 has a similar ratio of episodes to me in that i remember liking about half of it and not really liking the other half#but the highs were higher for me and as flawed as the tenmartha conflict might've been at least it like. existed lol#martha felt more defined than ruby as a character and had a more interesting push and pull with ten#so i think it came together a bit more?? though last of the time lords is my other least favourite rtd finale#and s2 i don't love either but i think it's consistently decent and sometimes great and again just does character better#even though imo tenrose largely rides the coattails of ninerose it still builds to a solid tragic conclusion based on their bond#like e.g. sarah jane as classic companion is deployed with much more precision than mel in this season#in terms of how she contributes to the character/story arc happening with tenrose about inevitable separation/abandonment#ANYWAY this is a massive tangent my point is i miss the character drama :( as i have been saying for the last 2 months :(

y'know what we don't talk about enough? Hazel died. We talk about how she grew up in the 30's and 40's and we talk about how out of place she feels in the modern world, but! She died! She was dead! She has spent more time dead than alive, and not by a close margin!
How does that effect a person??? We got some of it in the flashbacks, but once those caught up with her present timeline and she shared them, they just kind of... disappeared. And she was a regular girl with some weird past experiences. That's one way of doing it, sure!
I think it would have been a lot cooler if she was just a touch creepier. If she felt a little bit Wrong. Yeah, in general she's more approachable than her brother, she's more sociable and less closed off, but. If you actually spend any time with her, it can be difficult to tell which child of the underworld is actually more unsettling.
Hazel is bright of personality and has a dazzling smile, but sometimes she'll just... shut down. She'll go completely blank for like half an hour and nobody knows what to do with it. Sometimes she forgets she's alive. Sometimes she'll spout the grimmest shit you've ever heard like it's nothing, she won't even notice it's weird until the room goes quiet. She spent decades in Asphodel, which is designed to make people forget about themselves and wander around for eternity, only she didn't have the luxury of forgetting! Wild! After she comes back to life, sometimes she forgets that she's allowed to Do Stuff now. She can spend so long sitting and staring at nothing. Sometimes she'll start crying on cloudless days because it hits her again that she can actually feel the warmth of the sun on her skin and she can hear birdsong. Every little mundane experience is a blessing and she will make you remember that in the most foreboding way possible.

Thinking about Lychee Hikari Club again and usamaru furuya is really my favourite mangaka to use as an example of "Eroguro's history as a political statement" bc even with just the two works of his I've seen (LHC, Innocents Shounen Juujigun) there are so many points of discussion that both are shown through and reflected by the Gorey/grotesque backdrop relating to the birth and cycle of fascist ideology and power structures, especially how it's glamourized to youth in the lens of toxic masculinity, the paranoia and fear that came of the Catholic churches use of religion for governance in the medieval world and especially the crusades (still applicable today!!) that impacted everything down to the individuals own socialisation with others (In regards to family life, poverty, homosexuality, etc.) and also real historical examples (Re: Waldensian persecution, corruption in the Knights Templar, and vaguely even the political relations between France and Occitania at that time reflected by the demographics that make up both), the list goes on and on and I couldn't even BEGIN to tackle everything that's shown in like,,, 30-ish chapters combined from BOTH series
And it's all done through the lens of the most beautiful, gut-wrenching tragic characters and their downfalls you've ever seen like who gave him the right

#this is my last post in a row i swear#pokemon#pokèmon#maushold#pokemon scarlet and violet#one of the few pkm i liked from the recent gen godbless#i haven't liked any of the gimmicks since mega evolution and i havent liked any of the regional variants since alola(how spell?) so the new#stuff is vert hit or miss for me#mega evolutions was a new hype thing that made the pkm cooler and i was so excited to see new mega evolutions in the future only for them to#come up with a brand new gimmick (z moves i believe?) next region and its was just. oh. so were not doing that anymore.#now they release a new one with every regions and i just. sigh#idk what scarlet violet has i dont pay enougn attention#oh my god and the regional varients#bro just make new pokemon oh my god. it's so lazy and yk its just so they can reel back in fans of the old stuff by giving them a new form#the alolan variants were cool cause they were new!! and pokemon looking different cause of the climate was cool!!#then galar came along. what even is the point of those variants man#like. i love galar. probably one of my fave new gens. but man#and now they just keep conveniently adding stuff that enables them to make more regional variants like PLEASE just make new pokemon#maushold is so cute!! and so is some of the other new ones!! the regional variants this region are ugly as sin though!!#sorry for the rant i am very opinionated on pokemon. its not my most passionate hyperfixation but its the one thats lasted the longest#that being most of my life. so ill be damned if i dont know an unfortunate amount about it#not the characters though those were whatever. i was in it for the pokemon#oh yeah but not all original pokemon are great though. screw bramblin or whatever that thing is

I think the main problem of the rainwild chronicals stems from the fact tha5 the there isnt enough plot time for the story to properly delve into the psyche of the characters and let them develop, losing much of the appeal most rote books have. Those are annoying teenagers that don't go through all the trauma other rote characters do to change to not-annoying teenagers (like in liveships) the characters do , but neither doe sthe story take place over a long enough period of time for them to develop into adults (like fitz in the farseer trilogy)
When you get to the f&f trilogy you see how much they truely developed and found their place and became adults (encluding some changes that seem drastic, because it has been so long in world since they were who they were in their own series). Its just kind of dissapointing how so many characters we just didnt get to see the development of, because of the lack of time for it in the rain wild chronicles themselves.
#these books had very little time to explore the minds of the characters like there was in other parts of rote#to me the strongest plotlines in rwc were the hest-sedric-alise-leftrin situation#and selden's storyline#those were the true highlights of these books#oh and the birdkeepers. though those are a different situation#then you get plotlines that were good but didnt get dived into enough to be developed into being great like thymara&sintara or#rapskal-telator or carson-sedric#but they were nice#and then you get the bane of my anf im sure very rote fan's existance which was the love triangle#horrible horrible annoying plot#tats especially suffers from everything I said in this post. like you can see little signs he will get better as he grows up but you just#dont see enough of it in the books themselves for it to be worth HOW FUCKING INSUFFERABLE HE IS#so yeah. these are my thoughts about rwc#realm of the elderlings#rain wild chronicles

just watched gudetamas eggcellent adventure. eggcellent production
#mine#very cute to watch and i enjoyed how even though its a patently ridiculous concept#they did a great job making it feel serious emotional and real throughout the show#and balancing that with humor#i actually did get close to crying once or twice#good story i like how it wrapped up. characters were awesome#i could NOT stop giggling during the part with the rotten egg cause he talked just like a yakuza character#and it made me realize playing the games has really primed me for those kinds of characters in other media lol#i tried to watch with japanese cc as much as possible but i had to go english a few times just to know wtf was going on#and the english subs for the rotten yakuza egg sounded JUST like the subs that yakuza has for kansai characters#which was very fun#im going to go back to youtube comprehensible input for a bit because i realized i dont like#watching things and not knowing whats going on immediately -_-#but still a great time#also the tv guy...inoue? he was sooooo cute omg

mara of the acoma from feist & wurts' empire trilogy. she is one of my favourite fictional women ever. in the context of her own series, she's not an alien, but in the context of the riftwar saga (which was published first and contain more elements of feist's mainline plot than the empire trilogy), she is, so. i think she counts.
the mandalorian. i'm not immune to single fathers... or general badassery...
darrow from brown's red rising. born on mars.
todd from the knife of never letting go (book) / chaos walking (movie). i have fond memories of going to see this at the drive-in with a friend when it came out.

#degrassiedit#eli goldsworthy#my edit#my edits#my screencaps#degrassi#degrassi the next generation#I can’t stand Eclare and do not like or agree with how he treated her in this episode or multiple other episodes but his storyline#*outside of that context is very compelling and even relatable to me in some ways#like I would never shoot a picture or crash a car to manipulate someone or half the shit Eli did but I can relate to the overall#*intense emotions and fear of losing someone#and honestly I probably would crash a car not to manipulate anyone but cause I wanna fucking die so like the self harm/suicidal tendencies#*are relatable to me; all in all Eli had a lot of compelling storylines it’s just the Eclare drama ruined his character and overshadowed#*literally anything positive about him even if the positive things were just his compelling storylines and nothing great Eli himself did#Cause sadly he did a lot more harm than good towards the people he claimed to care for even if it wasn’t always intentional#but anyway I think Drop The World is one of my favorite Eli storylines even though again I sympathize way more with Clare
