I also want to say that I’m incredibly embarrassed and annoyed by Geno. Kaitlyn’s best games this season has been when she’s off ball. I don’t remember when she’s scored (or consistently scored) when she starts with the ball in her hands. Paige has been at her best when she’s on ball. It’s so much easier for her to be aggressive and for her to even get the ball into her hands when she’s the one bringing it up.

The main reason I’m annoyed is because in a press conference last week, it seemed to me that Geno doesn’t care about helping this team to get a natty. HE had been one of the people to start the narrative of “you need a natty to be a great” and literally said “i remind paige everyday that she’s be the best player in uconn history without a natty.” Then last week he went a FULL 180 and said you don’t need a natty to be considered a goat. He essentially said Paige’s legacy shouldn’t be diminished by not winning a natty, which to me sounded like “we’re not winning a natty.”

You have a national player of the year, the best freshman in the country by a mile, two players who helped a team get to the final four last year, and an All American (HM) transfer. (Not mentioning Azzi, Ice, Aubrey or Jana whose development/potential has definitely been slowed bc of coming back from injury). (Not mentioning the other 2 mcdonald’s all americans because they’re “just freshman”) To think that you can’t win a national championship with that roster when YOU are the one that said Connecticut is the place to win championships and “if you want to win come here, we know how to win” is fucking embarrassing and unfair to your players.

I’m wondering what other people are thinking too but I just think this is embarrassing for Geno to have preached how good his program is for all these years and now to feel like he can’t compete.

Any game Paige has been aggressive enough from the start to put her in triple double range, UConn doesn’t need her to play that many minutes. It’s only a close game when she doesn’t play aggressively from the start.

If they want any chance in the tournament, she’ll have to play aggressive from the start so maybe she’ll get a triple double then but I doubt it bc she hasn’t been aggressive to start in the big matchups this season (ND & USC). Hopefully she can change that.

Couldn’t have said it better and heavy on the punching down thing. Like it’s embarrassing to talk shit to players/teams that are obviously much worse than you.

Also like the same people were crying about the overrated chants - like Paige received those because she’s a high level player and that game was an actual rivalry. It’s very different for trash talk online between two good teams and one good team and one bad team.

And then just because I feel like it has to be said, going to a players comments to say that your team sucks or you’re overrated is obv gross

1) going into her comment section. talk shit on them on twitter. even with the team admins, but don't @ the players. faith never talked shit and is in fact friends with the uconn players.

2) the big reason i find it distasteful is it feels like punching down. top 10 and one of the biggest dynasty teams with one of the biggest fanbases shitting on an unranked team is where it feels gross to me. it wasn't a close game and there''s no real history of rivalry with seton hall. they've only beat uconn once in their entire program history.
