Probably the very last thing I expected to happen last night was for me to have a sexuality crisis and overanalyse the last third of my life, and yet here we are
#the overthinking kept me up until 5:30 a.m and I can barely keep my eyes open rn#there's a long weekend ahead why couldn't the crisis wait 24 hours#anyway... turns out there's a high chance my bisexuality was actually equal lack of attraction to everyone#the only exception being drawings and animated characters. never real people#and I always said that I wanted to be railed by a pretty girl but now I realise I don't really want that#I just said it bc I was convinced I was bisexual so it felt right that it's what I should want#in reality I want to be railed by ocs not an actual girlfriend#and only in fantasy. the thought of fucking of any kind irl makes me want to be smooth like a barbie doll#so... yeah#I cried for like an hour and a half because my bisexuality was like the one thing I was 100% sure in#turns out I'm actually probably somewhere on aroace spectrum and I'm too much of an unstable wreck to process that probably#I'll have to do some soulsearching at some point but for now it seems most likely#suddenly a lot of things are making much more sense tbh

(But perhaps be clever enough not to interact with me if I'm in your DNI.)
My beliefs under the cut !
Proship means "pro"ship, as in "in favor of" or "for" shipping. It is synonymous with profic(pro-fiction), anti-harassment and anti-censorship. It has never ment "problematic" shipping, that is simply a concept made by antishippers to easier paint the concept of being proship as inherently wrong. Proship is a fandom etiquette, not a descriptor of what you like or dislike in fiction.
Fiction(on all aspects, dark or light) is ment to be explored, many if not most humans are practically hard wired to wonder about unrealistic and fantastical schenarios, and that can express itself in ways such as anxiety, daydreaming, writing, drawing, singing and many subtypes of the previously mentioned.
Harrasment, especially that done trough online, is cruel and has no end goal nor benefit. If a user is breaking the rules of the site they use, report it to the site. If a user is committing a crime that poses harm to another person, animal, the enviroment or anothers belongingsa, report it to the authorities.
Radqueer is largely harmful, I could write practically 3 books on how their morals lead and have led to real people being harmed, how their terminology is non-equivalent to what they claim it to be equivalnt to- and so much more, but frankly that rant would go on for too long.
People have the right to their own bodies, do whatever you want with it, tattoos, abortion, whatever you wanna do with your own body that doesn't touch on others? Go ahead. Now there is exceptions as always, im against "transrace" "transition"s, tattooing hate speech/symbols onto oneself, or carving the names of non-consenting individuals into your body- especially if its (knowingly OR unknowingly) to manipulate them, that and similiar stuff.
Endogenic systems are entirely valid, wether their system exists for neurological reasons or spiritual, it is a highly reported experience people have and to dismiss that is odd to say the least.
Slurs should be reclaimed if they can't fade away, queer is a good example of a slur that almost completely has been turned into just a word anyone can say without meaning anything cruel with it. Those reclaiming it should be the victims of it BUT once the word HAS been desentesized enough anyone should be able to say it to further erase it's association with being a slur. (To reclaim is to use a slur to empower one-self or casualize it with a gentle new context, if one is using it as an insult themself or another, regardless of their own history with the word, they are not reclaiming it.)
Generative AI is bad, especially art, music and voice AI, as they utilize content from non-consenting creators as well as steal jobs away from real people. (And in this economy it's really dangerous) I DO however support character AIs because they have saved lives, and do not steal from creators, only copy human speech patterns. This said real human connection is always better for you but I won't consider it immoral or wrong in any way if you do befriend AI chatbots.
If you censor serious words or topics when there is no need to, you should not be taken seriously no matter what argument you run, if you censor the words pedophile, groomer, child predator, rapist, molest(and so much more words) then I believe that no one should consider you mature enough to accept your debate or debate with you.

Posting a compilation of responses to Fandom Problem #6020.
Anon:
If you want representation, create your own story Fandom is not activism
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
Except you people almost never racebend white characters. You racebend other minorities. You racebend anime characters with Japanese names who live in Japan and speak Japanese and have their whole family live in Japan with Japanese names and speak Japanese and claim that the original character was "white." You take characters who are half-black, half-white and say they "aren't black enough" and make them completely black, racebending the white parent ONLY for the sake of racebending their kid. You racebend half-black, half-Asian characters for the same reason, they "aren't black enough." The overwhelming majority of people who complain about racebending don't care about a character's race, they're pointing out YOU'RE ALMOST EXCLUSIVELY DOING THIS TO CHARACTERS WHO ARE OTHER MINORITIES, WHO DESERVE REPRESENTATION TOO, WHILE SLAPPING IRL PEOPLE WHO MATCH THE DESCRIPTION OF THE ORIGINAL CHARACTER IN THE FACE!!!!!!!!!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
I am pretty sure that modern fandom was not created specifically by POC. It was created by majorly women who were really into Star Track, completely unrelated to any skin colour any of them might have had
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anon:
“BLACKWASHING IS DONE WITH RESPECT AND LOVE FOR A CHARACTER AND THEIR FANDOM.” No, it’s done out of hatred of white people. If you really loved this character, you’d love him or her as a white person. If you can’t love a white character, you are racist.

RaCiSt!!!": On twitter right now people are throwing a fit over official splatoon art of Marina having a slightly lighter shade of brown than normal. Again. AGAIN. AGAIN!! Miss me with this fucking bullshit! You clowns have said this for a decade now and EVERYONE can see right through you! Every time some artist draws a brown character one hexcode lighter because GOD FORBID ANY OF YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THAT LIGHTING EXISTS OR THAT MAYBE PEOPLE WANT TO EXPERIMENT WITH DIFFERENT SHADES, there's a goddamn TIDAL WAVE of THE STUPIDEST, MOST HATEFUL PEOPLE YOU'LL EVER MEET screaming MUH RACISM at the top of their lungs. Harassing artists minding their own goddamn business (ESPECIALLY if they're from Japan!). Smugly taking the art and darkening with that utterly insufferable "Heh, I fixed it :)))" passive-aggressive attitude. Don't you sit there and fucking lie to me, you little shit. I've been on this hellsite since 2012. I've seen every single one of these """whitewashing""" controversies you neanderthals start and every single one of them has accomplished nothing except drive people away, piss them off, or inspired them to make ACTUAL Whitewashed art to show you what Whitewashing actually looks like and also to MOCK YOU. This is not pissing on my leg and telling me it's rain, this is grabbing ten of your buddies, telling them chug a gallon of water, circle around me, whip out your cocks, shower me in gold and then casually mock me for not taking an umbrella because "oh man it's so stormy out :)" Also Japanese twitter has had enough of your shit and they're criticizing you for acting this way and then shamelessly redrawing their characters as being black and acting like that's how they're """supposed""" to be because Asians just aren't """POC""" enough for you. Don't ever call anyone a "Colonizer" again, because that kind of shit is GENUINE Colonizer mindset because you self-righteous shitheads disrespect other cultures and can't leave people the fuck alone. THAT is why people get mad at you. It's not racism. It's NEVER been racism; it's because you're all insufferable twits who harass everyone around you over NOTHING and then have the GALL to be FLAGRANT HYPOCRITES ABOUT IT with an obvious double standard! Build a bridge and get the FUCK over yourselves!

Anon:
One thing I find EXTREMELY odd about a fandom I am in surrounding an anime I like is the racewashing/blackwashing art, now I'm not gonna get into my opinions on racewashing because wether you support it or not you have to admit what I'm about to say seems really dodgy In this anime there are multiple main characters of mixed race, majority of them being half european half japanese, I'm not sure how much representation of mixed people there are in anime but I can only really think of 3 anime where there are main mixed race characters, most of them only having 1 or 2 mixed race characters, but the anime I am talking about has about 4 mixed race main characters For some reason this fandom absolutely loves to racewash these mixed race characters and barely does it to any other characters. They always make them fully black (not even blasian) and they say they do it to add "more black representation" to the anime Now there are many reasons I find this dodgy, 1 being that of course they only ever do this with the mixed race characters, (or at the very least these are the most popular characters to do this to) not the fully asian characters, not the fully white characters, not to any character of any other race/ethnicity, not even the non human characters who don't have a canonical race/ethnicity, only the mixed race characters Apparently a lot of other fanbases with half white half japanese main characters have these problems too, and a lot of real life mixed people say that the people who only ever racewash mixed characters imply that these characters are "too white for them", which is of course a very racist thing to say about mixed race people who are half white Another reason I find this odd is that, A. A lot of the anime is set in Japan, so of course a lot of the characters will be Japanese or half Japanese, and I'm not saying that there aren't black people in Japan, but obviously majority of the people who live in Japan are Japanese B. There are black characters in the anime! Main characters too, now I can't speak on how good the representation is as I'm not black, but from what I can tell a lot of black people love this anime and the black characters (not to mention a lot of the people I see who racewash the mixed characters are not black, most I see are white people) so I don't see the need to add more representation to the anime by racewashing non black characters, let alone racewashing the mixed race characters who also seem to have a small amount of representation in anime. Like at the very least if someone wanted to race swap a character they'd do it with one of the many white characters and not the mixed race characters, or at the very very least they'd make the mixed race characters blasian and not fully black, or draw the non human characters who don't have canonical races as humans and make them black or any race they want, like I don't get why they're so obsessed with making mixed half white half asian people fully black In conclusion: this whole thing just confuses me and gives off extremely dodgy and racist vibes

please more apocalypse au please pretty please
(I almost fell out of my chair and broke my neck from how happy I got seeing this lol)
So so for the Aau, there’s a lot to explain. But I should get the ground rules of before the infection that spreads (this is technically an infection AU but eh, apocalypse seems more fitting)(this AU was in help with one of my friends in the beginning of it)
so- let me just dig deep into my Google doc real quick
Before the apocalypse starts, life is normal. There’s a small town, which has most of the characters mentioned in the entirety of the characters living in it.
scar lives with the clockers (minus etho, he left, BUT he will show up later…)(also his attire is his normal skin, BEFORE the apocalypse begins)
(I will be making a post as to why his outfit changes into what was seen in the drawing I made)
grian lives with Pearl (Who is a college student)
Pearl is very much into arts and crafts, so they tend to have very bizarre stuff around the apartment (like gas masks from when Pearl would spray paint things)
gem works at a diner, with Skizz being a cook and Tango being a waiter (alongside Gem)
the four of them don’t know each other EXCEPT Grian and Scar
(Scar, Grian, Pearl, and Gem are pretty much the main four, although more people join on in later)
who used to be in the same middle school and sat next to each other in math class. They would talk occasionally, mainly just Grian helping Scar read the problems and make sense of them or just lending a pencil to one or the other.
one day, Scar gets bullied heavily (it usually happens, but it’s more of a tease). Why does he usually get teased? Because he brings Jellie to school, who is licensed as his emotional support animal and the school just doesn’t care if Jellie is there or not.
but this time, someone took is too far. We’ll call this guy ‘bully’
bully gets a bit psychical taking a book binder from Scar’s bag and tracing it along his face, saying some things, the cut draws blood (and eventually turns into a scar later on in his life)
but out of nowhere, the bully get shoved into the ground, by who? None other than Grian! Grian is one of the only hybrids in the school, him being an Avian, or more specifically Macaw, he draws a lot of attention. see, the town isn’t exactly fond of Hybrids, it’s more discriminatory than most places. So the chances of the bully getting expelled is lower than Grian getting expelled
Grian continues to fight the bully, and the bully fights back
it’s eventually broken up by a teacher, and they’re sent to the office. Grian gets expelled, and is never seen again by Scar
that is until a faithful day in his senior year, where after school, he goes to Theatre, the only place he’s really accepted in. Ren is the teacher.
As Ren is teaching the Theatre club and gives them just a scenario to get a feel for the play they’ll be doing (a mock of third life)
the people in the theatre club include
Scar (18)
tango (19)
Mumbo (on sound)(18)
Katherine (yes, she’s here, it’s important I have to include Nature wives in here somehow, but that’s all of Empires that will be in this AU probably. Other than that, it’s a mix of the life series and Hermitcraft)(18)(set)
Joel(18) (EYYY IT’S THE ONE WITH THE EGO!)
and more
They all take turns being the “lead” in this script, Joel voltuneers to go first
as they’re performing lines, Joel happened to forget a prop, so he calls out to someone who is sitting by the prop table that’s next to Ren’s desk.
that someone happens to be Grian, Grian panics as he didn’t expect to be called on or spoken to at all during this. He throws the prop (a wooden sword) and accidentally hits Scar in the head (Sound familiar? COUGH first death COUGH lol)
Scar passes out and luckily, he doesn’t get a concussion because author logic. While he passes out, there’s a flashback scene (AKA THE FIGHT FROM MIDDLE SCHOOL THAT WAS STATED EARLIER :D)
Scar wakes up and sees Grian, who is apologising but Scar’s ears are ringing, he points to Grian and just says “You look familiar…” and then closes his eyes again. When he wakes up, Theatre is about over and there’s an ice bag on his head and the mysterious “stranger” (grian) that he saw, is now gone. Scar goes up to Ren, and talks to him about him
Ren mentions that that was a brother of a friend from college (Pearl). He tells Scar that he doesn’t go to school and is technically homeschooled but borrows stuff from here. Ren also let’s Scar know that Grian feels like he owes Scar a favour or anything because he feels bad that he hit him in the head with a wooden sword.
Scar leaves the class with Jellie and his stuff and takes the bus home, on the way home he can’t help but think about what favour he would owe this guy, or if he’d ever see him again?
he goes home and Cleo asks him about his day, he brushes it off as a normal one, but it really wasn’t. Scar lays on his bed, too tired to change and ends up falling asleep.
(Then there’s a time skip, but that should be saved for a whole different post)
that’s basically like a prologue I guess? Idk, I can turn this into a proper Ao3 chapter, and maybe have a whole fic for this
this whole thing was taken out of my doc, from the section labeled “CHAPTER PLANS” lololol

Varesa's design is as bad as it is good.
Before we start, I'd like to apologize in advance for my tone. I usually prefer to write my analyses in a neutral and somewhat professional voice, but I feel that for this case study, not filtering my emotions towards the character helps drive the point I'm trying to make. So please bear with me for a moment.
Firstly, Genshin has a bad record of putting significantly less effort into accurately representing cultures that are not East Asian or European. So one would hope that, at the very least, they refrain from using harmful clichés or negative stereotypes for the characters of the nation supposedly based on Latin American cultures, African cultures and also indigenous peoples.
Secondly, Varesa is the first “plus size” character of Genshin Impact. Which should be celebrated! Hooray for representations of diverse bodies, even if her body type still remains a perfect hourglass figure! Except that milestone is immediately cancelled out by the fact that it is her main character trait.

Look! She is a plus size character… because she is part cow! And look, she is even depicted in her official art eating a damn taco. Added in case you didn't know that she is a glutton and that is why she is so fat! Just a gentle reminder, this girl is fat and also Mexican! And just in case it wasn't clear enough that she is fat, they also made sure to make her a competitive eater!
Just wow… how original. Like come on, is it really necessary to center her entire character around her body weight? Is there really nothing interesting that could be made with her concept?
Worst of all, her design barely contains any elements that would tie her to any real-world latin culture. And as far as I know, being a competitive eater is not typically Latin American, and neither are cows.
“Oh! But she's also supposed to be a wrestler!”
True, she is a wrestler! Except she's not even based on Mexican wrestlers. Instead, she takes after the fashion and fighting style of female Japanese wrestlers. They had the chance to base her design and move set on actual Mexican luchadores. AND THEY DIDN'T DO IT.
The only element of her design that remotely resembles Mexican influence is the mask that appears on her face in her splash art and in game when as you play as her. Which is similar to that of the mask seen on the undeniably WWE inspired belt tied around her. But that is about it.
Varesa's design was never meant to be a heartfelt depiction of any kind of culture, or a thoughtful take on a well-known stereotype.
Varesa is, plainly put, a marketing strategy. And a good one at that.
Here is the point I am actually trying to make.
Given how far into its development cycle Genshin Impact is, and the success of rival gacha games such as Zenless Zone Zero or Wuthering waves. Both of which have earned quite the reputation due to the very appealing “characteristics” of their female characters. Interest for the game is decreasing, and in order to stay in the mind of the public, they need to do something. And at the moment, the gacha genre is seeing more success by leaning into highly sexualized female characters whose thighs and breasts jiggle aggressively when they walk. Bonus points if they also have cute animal features.
Therefore, Varesa. A character that fits into the current trend in the genre. And she does so perfectly.
Her design is the epitome of cuteness. Her color palette, composed of soft pastels, suit her sweet and innocent personality and is in line with the kawaii fashion typical of the previously mentioned Japanese wrestlers. The black present in the skirt and crop top greatly contrast with the lighter colors in a way that draws attention to the size and shape of those parts of her figure.
The knitted sleeves and the leg warmers provide her design with a cozy and comfortable look. One can almost imagine the tactile feel of these clothes. They look soft, the kind of soft that you want to cuddle, and therefore so does she. The over-accessorizing of the outfit with hearts, band-aids and ribbons is also reminiscent of a particular Japanese fashion called Decora-kei. And lastly, she notoriously is the only female character in the game not wearing high heels or platforms, but rather sneakers.
As much as I despise Varesa's design for being such a painfully unoriginal, insulting stereotype, made solely to follow a trend in a desperate attempt to maintain the game's relevance. It does an excellent job at what it was designed to do.
Attract a demographic that is willing to give Hoyoverse their support and money, while riling up the biggest critics of the game, who will complain online and put more eyes on their product.
In the discipline of online marketing, any kind of attention, is good attention.

Out of curiosity, any thoughts on Danganronpa Despair Time since you referenced it in your Edens Garden post?
it's impressive they made something so thorough on their own and kept a digestible scope, but as someone whose background is in writing it is startlingly clear that the DTDev's background is not (iirc, they even admitted such after the release of chapter 2). if i had to pick between them, i would choose despair time, but to me it's like asking which leg i'd like broken.
it was much longer than i expected so uh, here's a break. also obvious spoilers and negative opinions inbound so if that's a sensitivity maybe scroll past this one:
quite frankly teruko is one of the most insufferable protagonists i've ever fucking seen in anything period. until she gets shanked by whatshisface (i'm legitimately blanking on his name. was it michael? the british dude with one eye) she has legitimately no real character outside of complaining about her bad luck and once she is shanked she becomes an extremely generic edgelord, complete with getting a black-coat makeover to show how deep dark and edgy she is now. i don't really enjoy throwing around the term since it's one steeped in so much misogyny it really isn't funny, but i genuinely cannot find any other words to describe teruko other than 'mary sue'. she repeatedly fucks over the people around her both through accidents and deliberate actions yet though she goes on and on about how she's more punished than her peers, she never really suffers a single consequence for being a shithead, the others are still willing to throw their safety on the line for her where they don't for other characters.
at best, the rest of the characters are bland copy-pastes of canon DR tropes (arei? the blue-haired bowling girl? yeah that's just hiyoko saionji, but she did a 180 on the colour wheel. she's one of the better characters) and at worst they seem like they're just lab-engineered for the single purpose of generating moments. i mean no exaggeration when i say every single character with the exception of maybe eden fucking sucks as a person. and that's fine beyond the fact it creates the opposite effect to canon danganronpa: whereas i dreaded finding dead bodies in danganronpa, i'm relieved to find a dead body with despair time. and it does not seem like that's the intended effect, which indicates something's gone horribly wrong somewhere. they also just do not react appropriately to revelations and even just speed through them if the revelation isn't "so-and-so was actually a lunatic all along" - like, the revelation that everyone lost SEVERAL YEARS OF THEIR LIVES was kind of just an 'eh', never really focused on.
its tonally kind of shitty. as indicated by the last dotpoint, revelations are kind of jumped over, important moments with setting the tone are kind of just treated like formalities to get to the REAL meat (joss whedon-style quipping, racist jokes, and anime humour that was funny in 2009-2012 and is not so much funny anymore). it's focused more on its moments, but it only has one moment: [Character Does The Yandere Thing], where a character begins to act insane regardless of buildup, and it's always the same insanity where they grin a little too wide and start saying that nobody understands them and they get a little Unhinged as the kids say yadda yadda the influence from Yandere Simulator of all things is on full display, particularly with the first murder. like that is LITERALLY one of the elimination methods from yandere simulator. and if that blonde twink doesn't shut his stupid fucking mouth i'm going to kill him myself. and it was always jarring whenever it tried to explain a complicated issue because the actual pacing and style of the story would screech to a fucking steel-wall HALT so a character could read off the wikipedia entry for Panic Attack or Nonbinary. and it was just as weird when people said this was a good way to address that. obviously drawing attention to these issues is in fact good, but not just having a character break character to quickly read one of the first Google results for it. how'd puss in boots: the last wish, a CHILDREN'S FILM, manage a more nuanced and subtle depiction of a panic attack than this media intended for young adults.
the story keeps making fucking visits to chekhov's arsenal but never fires any of the weapons it gets from there, with my main complaint being ace's neck wound - there's no point to it BEING a neck wound. does it factor into how he conducts himself at the trial? nope. does it factor into a character arc? nope. does it even factor into his execution? nope! the story does not change in any way if ace gets a different injury, actually he had already murdered arei by this point - the story wouldn't change if he was uninjured (and if he is injured it's stupid the way he killed arei because a slit throat, if you're lucky enough to survive, will in fact put you at a major disadvantage if it doesn't put you in the hospital outright). it also feels like ideas get picked up and dropped faster than diving sticks in a pool.
the non-WASP names range from 'ehhhh' to 'total nonsense'. teruko's name, while it has legal kanji (well, one legal reading), translates approximately to "Superior Child" "Rice Field Armpit". hu's name is the wrong way around, if they're writing Firstname Lastname, it's Jing Hu according to the hànzì that translates to it. min jeung only has a first name but her first name is given the gravitas of being her full name for some reason. charles and j's last names are nouns, which isn't how hispanic last names work. and veronika's last name is total fucking nonsense. her first name's a german first name, and then her last name starts serbian and ends russian while ignoring both of their naming conventions. the author iirc justified this with 'well they're american immigrants' but that's not how immigrant names work.
the fangan, like pretty much all others, just fucking hates women. for one, teruko's the only female character who gets any amount of fleshing out - the dudes get fleshing out and half the women get lucky if they're even acknowledged in a scene that's not the introductions or a trial. the women in despair time are also majority nurturing types whereas in danganronpa you had a fairly wide variety. (they also make the only remotely chubby woman "motherly", and then give her clothes that literally slim down her actual sprite itself). it also, however, extends to the roles that female characters can actually take in despair time - the men are permitted to be the worst of the worst, to be active monsters within their stories, to commit horrible things against the other characters, and they're generally rewarded for committing those acts. the girls on the other hand are barred off from it - they're defined by self-harm. they harm their own lives, themselves, they hurt themselves. with two exceptions: min and arei, who die one after the other. they're punished for hurting others in ways their male counterparts are not. additionally, min gets absolutely brutalized by an execution equivalent to a SAW trap, limbs broken, cut off, and then eaten alive and whimpering by wolves - and ace gets... sent into cardiac arrest. the women get brutalised and the men get relatively chill deaths. men get to be active and horrible, but if a woman does the same, she is punished with a brutal death. unless she's teruko who is Not Like Other Girls.

dumb anime discourse, don't click if you don't really care, just not really appropriate to leave on the tags of a post so making it separate
don't worry everybody it's actually a very deep and poignant commentary of messy teenage sexuality and parodying magical girls (see the mc's name is utena, i'm clever) that's why the main characters HAD to be middle schoolers and dressed like that
it's actually very empowering to draw teenage girls grinding on each other, infantilizing and pissing themselves, just look at elfen lied
understanding myself as the minority here cause i know a decent amount of people like this show for some reason, and obviously for something to get two seasons of an animated adaptation, a large variety of people will have had to work on it and thus approve it, and my only tagged post about it is already the song and dance of ''big post about show that causes discourse among people who will never see eye to eye and then nothing changes and no one gives a shit afterwards" with literally a majority vote in its favor in a real poll (which is mostly what I'm pulling from)
I just think it's really funny, at this point, like not being sarcastic
everything i see about it looks like it sucks ass except for the most specific kind of anime fan
#I've already elected to not care#i just woke up and it's funny to see happen again#dashingposts#dashingthoughts

as a fellow Æon Flux enjoyer i would like to know what some of your favorite parts were? :^)
OOOO there's a lot to love about this show so I've made bullet points on some of the aspects I like most!
I love the dialogue. I've seen people tout the idea that the short mini-eps are the true version of the show (and I do love those, they're such a cool observation of animation), but I love how they changed the tone when they shifted to half hour episodes and the dialogue in many of those episodes is so distinctive. It doesn't explain away anything, it adds another layer of mystery to everything. I love the way characters speak in this show :)
I love how seriously the show takes itself. There aren't very many adult animated shows that aren't dark comedies or satire in some way, or being a spin-off of something else. This show is really unique in those ways of building a world, characters, culture completely unique to itself. That's not to say there aren't very clear inspirations for the show–but it's a show that goes to lengths to build it's own rules and tone and I still haven't found anything like it in more recent adult animated shows. Aeon Flux still has moments you're supposed to laugh, but that's secondary to the world and character they're exploring.
The show is really queer! Obviously that's not the be all end all of a good show, but it's also nice that Aeon is a properly bisexual character, that they have characters androynous and agender entirely. It's cool.
The show is very dedicated to not explaining itself and I think it's one of it's strong points. We never learn anything about Aeon's past, or Trevor's, or anyone elses. We never learn how Aeon and Trevor first meet. We never learn how Brenga and Monica came to be. You have to draw your own conclusions.
Thinking always of Trevor feeding Aeon spaghetti when they catch her and she criticises the chef for making a bad sauce. She's <3
Every place Aeon is shown living in should be on r/malelivingspaces what's wrong with her.
Absolutely nobody in the show is normal. They're all freaks. It's a world populated by absolute fucking freaks.
Insane that Trevor just fucking strips in the first full length episode. What's wrong with him.
Aeon is portrayed as being much more patient with most woman than men. It's a small character detail but I appreciate it. The only exception is Rordy, and I think her accidentally murdering his girlfriend is the main reason for that tenderness, because it's not something she shows normally.
I love all the BDSM aesthetics. If the reboot that allegedly is still being made (suspicious) doesn't include them, I'll be so upset! Would I call Aeon Flux as a show sex positive? Not necessarily but it's a very neutral thing in it's worldbuilding and it's almost used to humanise Aeon at certain moments, make her seem more real than the assassin persona she has. She's a weird dominatrix assassin hellbent on either murdering or dominating some weird dictator who wants to be benevolent soso bad but unfortunately he sucks

Shipgirl Appreciation Thread -Akagi
Well, said I was gonna do this, and who better to start with than the Prime Waifu herself, Akagi. My journey with Akagi starts a few decades before she's introduced in Azur Lane. Back when I was but a youth, my budding interest in the Pacific War brought me to a little movie called Tora! Tora! Tora! Of course, we see the flagship of the Kido Butai, Akagi. Her design was so unique compared to almost any other carrier, and I found myself fascinated with her. I found just about every book in the English language on Akagi over the years(not that there are that many, sadly). I had a 1/700 waterline model of her, if it had Akagi, I had an interest. (Except for Pearl Harbor, that movie is BAD). So, fast forward a few decades, and a friend of mine says, "Hey, there's this new game that turns WW2 ships into cute anime girls". My interest piqued, I downloaded the game and started playing. And there, on the first real level, was Akagi, setting fire to my base(and my heart). I was immediately taken by her design and her confident demeanor, and the more I learned about her, the more I fell in love. She's a little crazy, yes, but in a fun way. She makes it very clear that despite being just a tiny bit obsessed with you, she will never do anything to upset you, and if you choose to be with someone else, she accepts that as long as you understand and accept her love for you. Of course, if you choose her(which you should), she's loving, devoted, and has chains specially prepared just for you. Isn't that sweet?(Yes, yes it is) She's also utterly devoted to her people and her family, something I really respect, even if she makes some bad choices as a result of it. Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons always gets a few points in my book. She straddles the line between crazy fun and just plain crazy like a pro, and it's been fun watching her progress both in the story and through her skin lines. Her skins, speaking of, are all breathtakingly beautiful and have gotten better and better as time goes on. My current favorite is her party dress skin. Perfect blend of classy and sexy.
And, in the end, Akagi saved my writing career. At that point, I had been writing for a few years, even getting myself published in a few fanzines, only to get a response of utter silence. I'd get a like here and there, maybe one random comment, but even when I asked for feedback, the most I would receive is a collective shrug. I felt like my writing wasn't good enough, wasn't memorable, didn't draw anyone in. And with this profound lack of interest, I decided I'd give up writing. Before I did that, however, I was going to roll the dice one last time. I wrote a simple one-shot fic called New Year's Resolution, about a Commander and Akagi on New Year's Eve and put it up on Reddit. I figured if nobody reads it, then at least I went out writing about a character I love. But people did read it, and they liked and commented and wanted more. So I wrote more. And I grew and grew as I wrote until I am leaps and bounds better now than when I started this AL fanfiction journey four years ago. Any success I have in writing, I owe to Akagi. I've always loved her, and I always will.

🫐idk how to do this so i'm just gonna yap i have no clue what my personality type is but one of my favorite characters that i mildly related to was an INTJ 4w5 so i just took that and ran with it. uhh idk if i'm an introvert or extrovert it just depends on my mental state ig. i've been kinda tweekin recently so i'm loud in public like this dude one time caught me saying some of the most devious ahh shii known to man so i pointed at some random dude and blamed bro for saying it and then i sang the my little pony theme song but like 4 octaves higher. my friends hate me i also have no morals whatsoever so i'm cooked. the only reason why i'm not some bonkers dude on a documentary is because i'm a pathetic loser who doesn't actually go through with anything, i just lose interest or go 'nah this is way too much work' i'm a dude and 4'10" (idk lowkey my fault for not taking nutrition supplements when my doctor told me to) and idk what i like because i just have a hyperfixation and then i go batshit over it for several months (my longest hyperfixation was on a character for a year and i spent like 5k on merch of that character and now i highkey hate waking up to see the character's face literally everywhere) i dislike greasy foods with a burning passion, animals of all types (including insects) but actually i highkey used to like sharks but then they got popular online and agreeing with people on tiktok brings me physical pain. oh yeah i also dislike a lot of people online if they disagree with my opinion but depends on my mood because if i'm feeling mildly upset then i spam them with replies and tell them i love them and for them to have a good day but in the most toxic positive way possible and if i'm having a happy day then i do the same thing but i also slander everything i know about them for hobbies i love getting attention, positive or negative like honestly it's so fun. i go on social media a lot i'm pretty much just terminally online except i don't keep up w/ gossip majority of the time because i have no clue who celebrities are. oh yeah i love getting concern i never follow their advice or whatever all i do is make a joke about how pathetic my existence is and they rather don't care or they show concern and either way i get pissed so maybe i should stop with that lmao tbh whenever i read through the things i write i literally sound like those 'quirky >w<' 2020 gacha life ocs i feel like everyone with an ounce of humanity would realize i'm straight up embarrassing anyways ily have a good day!! take care of yourself :3333
“yeah i'm gonna be real fucking honest with you kid—halfway through your life story i genuinely forgot i was looking through my inbox and thought i was reading an article on a serial killer. you say you don't have morals but then you draw the line at greasy foods and tiktok? i mean alright sure but then you go on to bully other people on the internet over a bad mood? i'd say get a life but i'm pretty sure if you tried you would have dropped yourself on the head like you were as a kid. you sound like someone who has over ten restraining orders filed against them and they still have no clue as to why. well fuck that's ten minutes of my time i'm never taking back—you have me mourning over lost time when i'm a demon in literal fucking hell, congrats. let me guess, you'll probably celebrate by being a keyboard warrior in the comments of this post, like if junko enoshima was online. yeah, that's the energy this is giving.”

hello... 5-15 of those asks if you'd like for John (any iteration!) and Nico... hehe
yay 🧡
5. Is there any significance behind their hair color?
not really lol. john's hair is brown because it's the most common hair colour, nico [pascal's object of obsession from 2017 inver] has black hair because i wanted to further visually distinguish him from bowman. both have visible grey streaks because it's an easy way to help define the shape of the hair when drawing it
6. Is there any significance behind their eye color?
yes but only in that they (and all my characters) have brown eyes because i got tired of ppl seemingly on purpose avoiding brown eyes for their interesting characters. so i only make brown-eyed characters on purpose. the only exception is cuinn (harpy) because he has albinism but typical members of his species have dark brown eyes.
7. Is there any significance behind their height?
yes, john is my height on purpose (5'4") and nico is 5'3" because i'd unintentionally made my previous trans man characters pretty tall so i thought well let's make one who is short hashtag representation
8. What (if anything) do you relate to within their character/story?
i relate to john because i'm also a beautiful brunette who sucks so much. nico is unrelatable to me because he's a cop (he's not really but the plot does follow a buddy cop format)
9. Are they based off of you, in some way?
john from long long ago (2011, my first major setting) was a direct self insert thus the similarities in appearance. he has some parts of me in him because he's my main dnd character and it's hard not to project when doing 5 hour improv sessions once a week but he has never been less like me tbh. nico ehhh not really, we don't align personality-wise because i would not tolerate pascal for more than 5 seconds without wanting to hit him with my car
10. If they have an LI, how much of their character is tailored to be compatible to that person?
for john yeah 100%, they were made for each other. the angle i'm going with for their arc is a "perfectly synchronous" relationship being no protection for some bad shit going down between them, showing that if two people are SOO perfectly made for one another, it can often lead to one person taking the other for granted, assuming they can predict how the other person will react in any given situation, and ultimately it all results in a messy breakdown of communication.
for nico i meannnnnnnn he is a horse trainer and pascal is a horse so there is that, but in terms of personality they are intentionally very opposed and clash frequently, get on each other's nerves, fight, and not always smooth over those incidences. they are not very compatible.
11. Did you know what the OC’s sexuality would be at the time of their creation?
yep
12. What have you found to be most difficult about creating art for your OC (any form of art: writing, drawing, edits, etc.)?
I'm going to be real with u I could draw and write John in my sleep. Nico i find difficult to write, I have a hard time finding his voice. The ranger uniform also annoys me.
13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
john as a dnd character has no future whatsoever aside from a planned multiclass, he could fall off a cliff next session and die idk. Nico is one of the few characters i haven't thought much about post-canon, i don't feel like it's relevant.
14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
john: 1. literally just say the first thing that comes to mind, always. 2. keep em guessing
nico: 1. hes scared of boats and this is surprisingly relevant, i keep forgetting it lol. 2. i try to keep in mind my studies of horse trainers & their work, how they interact with their animals and what subtle body language they might use; these are people who frequently have to convince giant frightened animals that they are in charge here, this translates into how they hold themselves, how they speak, how they approach conflict etc.
15. What is something about your OC can make you laugh?
john's secret fear which we have discussed in dms (iykyk)
nico let himself get tricked into going on a theme park date with pascal while on duty and didn't even realise until afterwards that it was an elaborate setup of fabricated evidence all so that pascal could get him in the tunnel of love

For one of your future story ideas, Season of Ashes, it sounds really neat especially since I haven’t ever seen a school AU for Monster Rancher yet even though most fanfiction fandoms have some. but it sounds like it takes place in our world so are the monster characters going to be in it or is it only Genki and Holly?
Heya! Thank you for the ask and the interest in Season of Ashes! Honestly I can’t imagine writing a story without including the whole gang! Even in stories where the main focus is Genki and Holly, the rest of the Searchers have to be in it somehow. It would be too sad otherwise since I love them all so much! X3
Here’s a little insight into the story since you showed interest! I hope to start this one by the end of the year if I get my other projects done in time! ^_^
Season of Ashes takes place pretty much in our world, but with monsters integrated as a normal part of society and are treated just the same as humans. Just like in our world there will always be prejudice and violence between those who are different, so there are some people and monsters who don’t view one another as equals, but the overall population has integrated fine. Monsters are of the same social status as humans and unlike in the anime, wear clothing custom to their species just like humans. It’s definitely more difficult for some monsters versus others to not only get clothes that fit well, but to change into them, too, so you’ll see as some monsters struggle with daily tasks. X3
Genki and his best friend, ex-gang member Hare, get accepted into a new prestigious university called PENDANT, and along with their stowaway Mocchi, make their way to the school with hopes it’ll lead to a successful career. There they meet their two other roommates: Tiger, an ex-gang member whose gang was rivaled with Hare’s, and Suezo, an irritable monster who always seems nervous about something and seems to be very cautious. Through Tiger they meet Gray Wolf, his little brother who was supposed to be his roommate, along with Allan, Worm, and his last roommate Golem, who dreams to be a professional chef even with no support. While getting lost on his first day of class, Genki is suddenly helped by Holly, a girl with a guarded smile, and this encounter changes his life forever.
Cliche, but I hope it ends up being a little fun! I liked school AU stories and was always disappointed I never saw one for Monster Rancher, either, so I decided to try writing one myself even though there’ll be more action in this one compared to other school AUs I’ve read. I’d be too bored writing it if there wasn’t some action though. XD
Sorry for the long post! Thank you for your interest in this story! Also here’s a quick doodle of the main cast, I based Hare’s casual outfit off of TheZoe611’s outfit for Hare. XD But just like real life, everyone will have lots of different outfits so anytime I draw something for this story, there’s a good chance they’ll be wearing different clothes each time. Except Tiger, he likes wearing jackets and hoodies pretty much every day. X3

Serval Cider. Cider being more or less canonically a furry is my favorite unnecessary plot detail in Chipspeech. I am a furry and I like to think about what different characters' fursonas might be and now I have been given an actual reason to do so.. yippee. I've been looking around to see if other people have made potential Cider fursonas and I found one on twitter from almost four years ago (it is a mouse/rat). Someone tell me if there are any others (or even any ideas floating around) because I am curious.
Furry time below the cut :3
Interestingly enough I had a decently hard time trying to figure out what Cider's fursona might be. This is probably because of my affinity for anthropomorphizations of weird creatures, which don't tend to frequently show up as fursonas (arise my Cambrian brethren). I have not ruled out the possibility of Cider being a weird creature but I could not think of one that fit him well enough. I went with a serval because he honestly kind of looks like one? I do not mean this in a bad way, I really like servals (same kind of cat as Sogga). He just has that vibe. Also he canonically likes cats so I don't think he'd object to it.
Now it's time for me to be boring. The reason I am such a fan of Cider being a furry is (predictably) the whole idea that furries run the tech industry. Afaik the evidence to back up this claim is almost entirely anecdotal, though that one survey from Furscience in 2011 said that around a quarter of all furries surveyed have a degree in tech (plus another ~quarter in other STEM fields) so there's at least one statistic out there. (Generally speaking the Furscience survey is pretty interesting to read through if you're interested in both statistics and anthro animals.) Honestly though the anecdotes seem to be enough to prove that, at the very least, a sizeable percentage of important individuals in tech that are furries given how prevalent they are. In short out of all of the fictional characters I know of the funniest one to make a furry is Cider. A fair amount of furry fandom history is also pretty Cider-adjacent. The way everything lines up is so nice. Fiction does not have to adhere to real world logic but I find it so much more fun when it does. My mind looks like one of those conspiracy boards with all the string connecting different scientific studies and Wikipedia articles I've read to the funni little blorbos. This is definitely normal I promise.
Behold some furry Cider tweets because they are funni (plus him saying he likes cats, that clyp was deleted but it can be inferred). "I was a scientist, last I checked ;)" lmao
Oughh I cannot draw in That Furry Style so I have broken out the chibi(?) style I rarely use because it fits the subject material (furries) better than my normal one? I'm so glad his eyes aren't visible because I can't draw eyes that match this style. The only character I regularly draw in this style is my own fursona but they don't count because their eyes are oversimplified to make up for all of the cephalon details that need outlines. I say this as if anyone knows what I'm talking about. Things I should practice but never do. Oh well. Also the headphones are placed relative to the ear canal at the base of the outer ear. I put them as high up as seemed realistically wearable. And look at the little apple it has ears. Kitty apple :3
Is this entire post going to read like word salad to everyone except me. Hopefully not. I really hope.
#TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK CIDER'S FURSONA IS >:3#bonus points if it's a weird creature hehehehehe#the idea of a character that is canonically a furry (without any plot relevance) is just so funny to me in general#anyways imagine part of the reason Otto dislikes cats is because he somehow found out about Cider's feline fursona.. would be funni#canonically it's because cats are hard to control but I'm just thinking about him finding Cider in a fursuit and going “oh wtf”#chipspeech#cidertalk'84#cidertalk84#furry#furry art#posts by the bug

Y'know if we can say it just to say it,
Being a fictive-heavy system and trying to be normal about a character is sometimes like "do I want to be them or fuck/date them," and sometimes it's BOTH for varying reasons jodvsohvsouvuosvous.
Fictosexual and fictoromantic for all of the "wrong" reasons. Giving the reclamation of fuckin "animesexual" and "animeromantic" a Legitimate Case because holy hell do we have a shitton of anime fictives here. F/O is not just a fandom term. You get the idea.
Even if it's NOT every system member.
Even if IT IS every system member.
Here's to those who have relationships that would be "wretched" in the outerworld but where your inner world constructs make them consensual and less wretched.
And for soulbonds who people would just see as "aged-up" versions of a "source" they were never aware of until they started living here
For those who are partners with doubles of themselves because welp, you're still technically different individuals.
And we cannot forget the systems where the Harkness Test is an Actual Measure Of Consent because tbh, system shit gets real freaky really fast folks.
And there's probably a lot more that we missed, but no, your relationship does not make "fiction affects reality," a fucking gotcha! in an argument about fiction. Once you started to exist you became an actual person and not a character. If this has been your biggest fear: you know your own brain best and how it works. You most likely have morals that would tell you where to draw the line and that is good! And, we cannot emphasize this enough, you know your own brain best and how it works.
Everyone else can just leave if they aren't having fun.
Plurality can make things complicated and make exceptions that would not exist in an outer/external-world relationship.
So shoutout to the systems who are stereotypically "wrong/bad" systems where that extends into their lovelives. Especially if it's for having sexuality or romanticism that exists specific to their system only.
Please continue to love each other like this no matter what the world says.
~ Being mean will get you blocked on this post. We are not here to debate you. This post is not an invitation to debate the existence of systems and how headmates are "allowed" to interact with one another. ~

Weekly Update March 15, 2024
Something is wrong with me today, but I’m not sure what. I’m keeping an eye on what I suspect it may be, although it’s more likely a sleep related problem. I’ll try to get to bed early tonight. I did a good amount of artstuffs this week, though.
First real significant thing I did this week was record a bunch of melodies for songs and covers. I’m getting somewhere on the main cover I’m working on, and I’ll be tweaking the vocals hopefully soon and possibly posting a WIP once they’re acceptable. I think I will need to chop up the wav file and add effects only to specific notes to add more bite, since vocaloid seems to not really be able to do that. That’s fine I’m a smart person sometimes I can get around it.
Other instrumental songs are going well too. Made good progress on an old Zelda medley/cover I’d been working on, and another instrumental character theme has a good outline. I’ll try to really push for them soon, and once I get the Zelda one done I’ll poke at mechanical license websites to see how bad pricing is and see what songs are even available. The vocal cover should be, since it’s from a mainstream band, but I don’t know if video game music will be available, we’ll see. I might also go in for more recording tonight to see if a bit of movement/exercise would help whatever physical problem I’m having today.
I also have been having awful insomnia, which I’ve been using the time to try chipping away at lyrics for the two ‘vocal’ songs I’m done with otherwise. I’m sitting down and doing one section per session, so with any luck I can get those done soon too.
Drawings are also going well enough. I’m getting weirdly self conscious about my art, since I haven’t really seen a lot of growth in interaction on any of the sites I post to except here. Thank you guys for sticking with me! I’m trying to pull myself together to do more small drawings, so you guys have a bit more to look at for now, although I also have been chipping away at that comic still. I need to write/thumbnail 2 more scenes and edit, then I should be good to make actual pages.
Aside from the initial pitch comic I’m thinking about the outlines for the rest of the stories a bit more now. I get anxious when I get insomnia so I’ve been trying to just write in general, so I can at least be productive with the time, and that’s included lyric stuff, TTRPG stuff, and a lot of OC story stuff. I’m always afraid to lore dump on here unless I’m explicitly asked, for fear of coming off as annoying, but all things considered people seem to like the posts that include lore a bit better so my fear is probably unfounded. Perhaps I will do more on my own, but if you ever really want lore never be afraid to send an ask. I also tag the names of my reoccurring OCs so people can search my blog for them if they want to see more of any specific character.
Also speaking of writing, am still chipping away at an Anime Campaign/Epithet TTRPG game. I put up a poll on the epithet subreddit, which was a cleverly disguised way to gauge interest in an epithet pre-written campaign, since people are more likely to interact with a poll than to upvote a post. There were fourty something people who responded, almost unanimously positively. I might throw another one up there to see how many would actually be interested in DMing, but if feedback comes back positive I might turn what I’ve been working on into a prewritten module for others to run as well. That’d also be a fun writing project, which will be nice because writing is lower effort and lets me rest more, and rest is what I think I need right now.
Good amount of stuff got done this week despite me being in generally poor health. I will try to get better. Focusing on more writing stuff with smaller drawings like headshots will try to be the focus for next week.

Your reaction to the Narrator and what he says is really funny. You’ve basically gone:
I don’t trust you!
Okay, I think you believe what you’re saying. However, I think you’re wrong so I’m going to ignore you.
Wait, where did everyone go… SHIT, was the Narrator right!? Did the world end!?
The Narrator, the Hero and the Smitten are all gone. Are they dead? Did the apocalypse happen!?
Oh, never mind, the Princess is here. The world might still have ended though…
Meh, sometime things need to end for new things to start AKA I don’t care that my choices may have led to the premature and possibly painful death of every man, woman, child, animal and possible the universe itself. The Princess is here and that’s all I care about. Plus, maybe something else with come after this.
Oh good. Things have reset… and the Narrator’s back warning me about the end of the world again yawn
Wait, maybe the Princess made him like this
God, I hate this guy and how he’s – checks notes – doing the thing that the Princess might be making him do. Anyway, I love the Princess and she can do no wrong!
Don’t get me wrong, your reactions are completely understandable. It’s hard to believe a random voice that goes ‘go murder this person or you’ll condemn everyone else to die.’ Anyone would find that sus. Not to mention, while you are being told the Princess will end the world, the only person you’ve actually seen is the Princess and she asks you not to kill her. I do wonder if you’d have been so blasé about the possible end of the world if you’d seen some of the people you may or may not have damned.
It’s just funny that you simultaneous believe the Princess might be the one making him like that and that she’s worth saving but he isn’t. If you’re right and the Princess made him like this, he’s very much a victim but you don’t care because you’ve choice her side.
You’ve said that you’re going to try to save everyone, with the possible exception of the Narrator who you think might be a lost cause. It sucks for the Narrator. You think he believes what he says, that he might even be right, that the Princess might have made him like this and he’s still the only person you aren’t bothered about saving.
oh boy-- outside of the game content! Looks like i've unlocked the voice of The Anon!
so this little dumpster fire of an ask has been waiting in my inbox for… quite some time.
my initial hesitation to answer, more than anything else, was because, sincerely-- the tone of this anon made me think they might pipebomb me with spoilers to prove whatever little weird point they're making here-- if, in hindsight, there even is one worth making.
and also not give you the immediate satisfaction either-- if you even are still here (hi i guess?)
but now that i've finished the game…
well okay for one all i'm going to say is i can tell you haven't even finished the game. maybe even barely watched the demo.
Or by this point, might have gotten beyond that-- given that one ask i also believe you also sent me (from the way you... apparently think my reactions are so '''funny'''), you'd probably have tried to spoil me even more... because i wasn't getting to the points you thought i should???? what is your fucking damage?
but the first reason i wanted to 'answer' this was to show off how completely fucking bonkers you are.
the fact that i KNOW on some level you had to have based all this JUST on my playthrough-- and opinions-- of the game.
my very… incomplete perspective and playthrough of the game at the time you sent this in, btw.
the very… condescending way you word… all of this. because i have a spine i find this more cute than anything, if very annoying and weird.
the fact you seem to make judgement calls… on my morality? from how i play a game? with very Not Real Characters? I mean yeah it wants to draw you in and my choices/opinions for the most part have been genuine but i think ya'll get what i mean here
also i can further tell you have Not Played The Game because of assumptions even I haven't made? or at the time hadn't made? or if you have, uh… well. um. hm. alright then.
but again like-- your assessment of me based on… what was at the time a very incomplete playthrough with what information i had-- and if anything now that i have completed the game, uh, yeah, i'm pretty firm on my perspective.
but also other than shaming me for… beyond siding with, sympathizing with a character… the game wants you to sympathize with and bond with and not getting along as much with a character who, at every corner… listen i don't think he's technically a liar but gaslighting and condescension isn't that great of a look either. but also shaming me for liking her so much when the game is stated outright TO BE A LOVE STORY. DO YOU ALSO GET WEIRD AT PEOPLE WHO PLAY FUCKING DATING SIMS AND LIKE THE CHARACTERS, ANONTHY?
also your weird judgement of my impressions in general. like. it's almost that's what a liveblog is?
'the only person you aren't bothered about saving' is. also interesting. all i'm gonna say is um. anon. genuinely. what the fuck am i supposed to do here to even SAVE the narrator?
but also the insistence i'm playing a game 'wrong' that…… outright says there ARE no wrong choices, just different perspectives (which, i suppose also technically applies to me here-- but my point here being this anon is kind of weirdly fucking judgmental).
hell, even the creators have stated they won't answer any lore questions outright BECAUSE they want it to be interpreted in a variety of ways!
which, speaking of the creators.
i don't know them obviously, but, uh. anon?
i don't… think they'd want you acting like this. like thank god this game is so popular.
i say this because…
let's imagine, for a moment:
i have a weaker spine, and this game is far less popular, and still by an indie studio (granted if it was less popular i might not be playing it but that's beside the point).
let's say i recieve this and decide, at 'best', to modify my playthrough… not according to what i want. but because of some random guy on the internet who's being weird.
suddenly it's incredibly ingenuine for a game that wants you to make YOUR own choices.
or, a step further: i just stop live blogging it. if people think i'm making the 'wrong' choices, why show that, after all?
maybe, at worst, i even stop playing.
anon, if this game HADN'T of gotten the reach it had… how do you think this kind of attitude would affect it? or, hell-- even as popular as it is… this is still… pretty fucking rude to do to other people, and by proxxy the creators to a point.
like, there is the 'don't be a fucking dick in the fandom' part, obviously. shaming other people for their perspective on a game that WANTS you to do so is, uh. pretty boggling.
but there's also the other point that doing this DOES hurt indie creations. not that oh you have to treat them like glass and never debate with each other no no-- but treating people like this when they're publically helping talk about an indie game… is kind of shit, actually!
and to clarify-- i'm not holding myself up as some like, single beacon of the slay the princess fandom, like, god no-- there's a lot more influential people here who have done that way better than me in terms of hyping up this game.
more so that-- well, this isn't for anon. i know i'm not gonna convince them, whoever they are. and, hopefully, since the ask you sent after this, that I can tell is you because you use that cute little condescending indicator of thinking ways i'm playing you don't like/think is 'right' is ''''funny''''-- i've finally been able to block your ass. good riddance to someone who bafflingly was apparently following someone's content they don't really like all that much and don't know how a fucking block button works on their end.
like. are you like this with any friends you have? do you look at them and also like, similarly act like god's rudest little asshole about however they play a game? interpret a media? if you're allowed to determine my apparent entire morality from a short view of my play session i think i'm allowed to determine from this short (unfortunate) window into you that you sound pretty fucking insufferable.
no, this is moreso me-- other than making fun of anon and gawking at them-- going don't fucking do this. not JUST because it's rude-- but it can actually be VERY detrimental to other indie projects, even this one to a point, that's SUPPOSED to have discussion and different interpretation.
don't be this weird asshole.
#hoping people get what i mean when i post all this#this anon has just been like. in my inbox almost the entire time and like. i've been just kind of looking at it like man wtf#anyway hopefully my point gets through here#pichlive answers#also to further clarify: no i don't mind other takes but this anon was being fucking weird and#in hindsight very fucking stupid and obnoxious about it#if it was just saying i might be too judgemental or jumping the gun on the narrator or hinting there's more going on or even disagreeing#thatd be perfectly fine! but implying i'm some kind of idiot for not immediately playing the game some rando wants is. uh. well#its something else#and i am not intending to speak for the creators i just get the vibe that. this ask spits very much in the face of what they may have#intended#or how they'd want people to like experience the game in terms of playing it freely and forming their own views
