There’s an extra strap on the back of Cap's suit and no one can figure out what it's for

AN: This is heavily inspired by an AO3 fic with a very similar premise but I cannot for the life of me find it. If you recognize it, please send it my way so I can credit the author

Tony adds the strap to every new suit he designs, even though he's as clueless about its use as everyone else. The srap is completely hidden when Steve has the shield on his back, so it seems utterly useless to Tony, but he figures it's some old army thing he doesn't understand.

When Steve noticed it on the first suit Tony made him, his face did a very weird thing but he never said anything. And because he's not someone who has trouble expressing his dislike for something, it was obviously supposed to stay there.

Sometimes the strap drives Tony mad. The whole team has a bet on what it's for, but all of them have pretty much given up hope that they'll ever get a real answer.

And then they don't have the time to worry about it anyway, because they find the Winter Soldier. Or rather, he finds them, in a way unpleasant for everyone involved, and with him comes Hydra and a giant mess they need to fix.

It takes a long time, painful, exhausting, but eventually, they get to go on a normal, less serious mission again (really, it's a ridiculous mission - a cruise ship that's stuck on the open ocean because robot fish started terrorizing it is just... really?), with Bucky Barnes sitting in the quinjet right next to Steve, who still hasn't come off the high of getting him back.

From the cockpit, Natasha alerts them that they're nearing the drop off point and the hangar door starts opening for them to get out. As usual, Steve is the first to get up, shield already on his arm.

It should really be Tony, because he's the one who can actually fly, but Steve is proactive like that and they've all gotten used to just letting him do his thing.

Except now, Bucky's hand shoots out and he grabs the backstrap.

All of them freeze to stare.

"Parachute," Bucky grumbles as Steve tries to twist out of his hold, but he seems to know it's a losing battle.

"Buck, c'mon!" he complains. "I don't need it!"

Bucky grabs the parachute with his free hand and gives it to him with a pointed look.

Steve sighs and actually reaches for it with an eyeroll, and Natasha gives Tony the sign to jump, so he unfortunately doesn't get to see the rest of that interaction.

He also unfortunately doesn't get to adress it until they're on the way home.

"So, Barnes," he says casually, holding a wonderfully cool water bottle to his neck. "Is that what the thing is for?"

Bucky frowns at him. He looks at his own metal hand, like Tony could somehow be talking about that, but he seems to conclude he has no idea. "What thing?"

"The strap thing." Tony gestures vagualy in Steve's direction. "On Cap's back, the thing you grabbed. Is that what it's for?"

Bucky glances at Steve with a frown that seems surprised, confused and pissed off at the same time. Thought to be fair, he always looks pissed off. "You mean the Cap handle?" he says slowly. "You haven't figured that out until now?"

It's Clint that bursts out laughing first, but Tony isn't far behind. "The what?"

Steve's whole face goes bright red.

"What did I even do this week?" I asked myself looking through my OG post tag and Woah I Kinda Did A Lot.

First of all, there is the shining light of my life, my Grey Warden Bellara fic Bellara's Diary: On Darkspawn Corruption. I actually finished this fic over a month ago, and I was sooo excited to share it for Bellara week, you have no idea. This is currently the #1 favourite work of mine, everything else will have to move aside, at least for now <3

I also published Athim, a short oneshot about Bellara talking to the Archive before saying her goodbyes. That was a personally important piece since I (as an individual) consider keeping the archive the right choice TM, so I was curious how well I could execute the opposite scenario. And I'm rather proud of how it came out :')

Then, I posted a WIP from my piece about Viago & Ghilasara, Second Opinion. And the fic itself is coming out tomorrow! Maybe it has a target audience of like 5 people, but I'm still so very excited to share it <3

Besides that, I also made some DAVG-themed tumblr dividers. I actually saw someone I don't know personally use one of those dividers in their post and almost teared up.... Can't believe people like them enough to put them on their blogs...

Ahem. Someone (💙💙) inspired me to finally give a try to adding feathers to Ghilasara's custom armour. It's very much a WIP and I'm thinking of redoing that from scratch, but I did post a bit about my latest attempt along with a small silly headcanon here ^_^

And last, but not least, there was this ask about Spite's role in the Lucanisara divorce that ended up as a pretty long write-up. It's probably in the top-2 favourite asks I got on this blog (the other one was about whether Ghilasara would ever hook up with Illario).

Heya just discovered your AU recently and I'm really enjoying it I have some questions though 1. how did this start off? Like how did the hunger start manifesting and what were the very first signs? 2. is Mr boss evil? 3. what do the others think of the fact that pim starves himself of flesh? Do they encourage him to eat Orr? 4. Can they still eat normal food? And if so do they have like a strong adversion to it orr? 5. Who did the hunger take the biggest toll on mentally 6. Are you planning on making some sorta comic or some other to tell your story I'm pretty sure there's a story here but mabye I'm wrong idk 7. How'd you come up with the designs for their hunger forms and the AU in general?

OG AU Post for the confused

1. The very first signs are subtle enough no one notices, not even themselves. The only evidence something is off is animals start to steer clear. Maybe they sense something more instinctual, feral, about their aura? Scent maybe? However it is, animals with their superior senses know something is wrong.

They didn't start noticing anything themselves until they started to see things in the mirror for just slight glimpses. Glimpses of something but they could never make out what.

It's only days from there when the cravings start. But many times someone can crave something and not know what it is they crave until they find it. As you can imagine, because of this, each of their first hunts were unexpected. As such, people can get caught in the crossfire. Important people.

It was unlucky that Pim had to learn what he was craving when he did.

2. Mr. Boss is not evil. But he has a job to do, one that he has been tending to for many years. 18 years to be precise. He hopes to complete his job soon enough.

3. Allan and Glep care but they don't try to stop him. Instead they just check up on him often, bring some drinks, normal food. They don't really know how to approach him in a way they perceive as meaningful.

Charlie despite his desperation for a way to fix all of it still encourages Pim to eat. He reasons with him that there is no point in Pim or any of them starving themselves. After all it always ends the same way, a loss of control and an inevitable rampage. Why loose control and possibly hurt someone you don't want to hurt, when at the very least the hunt let's you know the victim ahead of time.

It's not much of a compensation. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Unfortunately it's his own choice at the end of the day.

4. They can eat normal food, in fact they still have to. The Hunger has just added another part to their diet that their body perceives as crucial for survival.

5. That's hard to answer, depends on what you put value on in this toll. In my opinion I'd say it's either Glep or Pim.

6. Maybe, maybe not. If I'm honest I don't know yet. I might make occasional snippets of moments I imagine happening. They wouldn't be in chronological order, just whenever I feel like making them. If I don't make a master post later on then I would leave the chronological order left for any interested to piece together using context clues I leave throughout different posts.

Like I said, this is a big maybe. Ideally I would make a fic but I have never been able to finish a single chapter of a fic in my life. I loose focus too easy.

I have a story to tell but I suppose I haven't decided how I want to tell it

7. If you want me to be truly honest, I didn't think that much. I built lore after designs. I wanted them each to have a sort of gimmick going on while being kinda cohesive simultaneously. I also knew I didn't want to go with a hyper detailed or overly realistic look.

In-universe they probably look terrifying but to you or I, they look just kinda uncanny. A little gross.

After making the initial designs I started to come up with lore and adjusted details accordingly.

As for why I came up with it?

Ok wild fuckass theory that probably works more as some type of fan fic AU or fix-it (loosely) and probably won’t happen but chekekfj

This is gonna be very rambly but bear with me

To me it seems that TFS and new details in Rebirth are setting up that Jenova is in more control than we previously thought. While I still believe there is some level of fucked up symbiosis, I question how much is actually Sephiroth (insane or not) and how much is Jenova. Would Jenova want revenge on Rufus for killing Glenn? Probably not because that is a very human, Sephiroth thing to want.

Jenova is a calamity that destroys worlds, we’ve known this since the OG and we’ve known that the Nibelheim Incident was because Sephiroth was rightfully angry, betrayed, and upset at what he had learned (false info but hey). In Rebirth we see it flashing between Sephiroth and Jenova, especially in the reactor where their faces are overlayed for a second. It makes me wonder, while Sephiroth was 100% having a mental breakdown, would he have killed and burned the entire village if it wasn’t for Jenova’s influence. In Crisis Core before leaving for Nibelheim, he was talking about deserting/leaving after this last mission. Without Jenova, i could see him wanting to get revenge on the people who wronged him, take down Shinra, and other such things. But since Jenova’s sole purpose is to be a world destroying calamity, she would twist that want of revenge on those people into just getting rid of all of it and become a god.

Side Tangent. I find the length of Sephiroth’s bangs to be important on telling what Sephiroth we are looking at (sane, short. insane, long) and Square seems to have just kinda forgotten about CC Seph having shorter bangs ig for optimization but it makes moments like in Chapter 8 of TFS confusing where we see very much sane Sephiroth from right before the CC era with long bangs and it cuts to Sephiroth with the same model, as far as i can tell, at the Edge of Creation. That leaves two options I can think of; 1: the Edge of Creation is a Jenova created sub space or mind space that she has been taking Sephiroth to and he has no idea wtf it is yet (unlikely). 2: That little scene was Sephiroth during the Remake Trilogy slowly gathering old memories and maybe even realizing that Jenova is in more control and influenced him more than he originally thought and is slowly regaining his identity. This feels more likely so thats what im gonna continue this rambling with. But please Square, you can sacrifice a few more megabytes to add another hair model to swap in.

Anyways, going with that Sephiroth is slowly remembering who he was, and how episode 1 of TFS seemed to be drawing some pretty harsh parallels between Sephiroth and Rosen plus everything they seem to be setting up with Jenova, i think Square is setting up a type of redemption for Sephiroth. It won’t be a true redemption but it would be something. The line from Rosen, “There is no place for me in your world,” feels very intentional and VERY Sephiroth. The parallels between Sephiroth and Rosen’s isolation and being trained from a young age to do one thing only for Sephiroth to kill him because Rosen feels that he can’t be a part of society feels like a set up for how Sephiroth’s story will ultimately end. If Cloud and crew somehow manage to separately Sephiroth from Jenova or something, there is no place for Sephiroth in the world anymore for very different reasons than Rosen. He’s killed, tortured, tried to end the world; no one would accept him after everything he did. Clearly, sane Sephiroth felt a lot of guilt over who he had killed and was trying his best to be the hero he never truly wanted to be to maybe right his wrongs. But if he gets his mind back, there is no righting the wrongs he had committed. There is no place for him anymore. He had been a dead man for 5 years anyways. The only thing he deserves is death and to finally join the Lifestream. The only catch is if Cloud can show the same empathy young Sephiroth did for Rosen. Any in the end, I think Cloud will be able to. In Advent Children, he showed some level of empathy and compassion for Kadaj in the end.

In the small snippet of Sephiroth we got in chapter 8 of TFS, he was thinking about how hate breeds more hate but compassion can end that cycle. And I think that is going to be the key to finally ending the cycle of FFVII.

When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?

I started with the pilot airing! I’m a day one fan. I’d watched OG 9-1-1 since near the end of season one, and a spinoff with Liv Tyler (a longtime fave) and firefighting Chris Traeger was a no-brainer for me. (How ironic that Michelle would end up being my least-favorite character on the show.)

Which season is your favorite?

Season 3 is perfection. The arcs, the calls, the Breakup Era… honestly, I doubt they’ll ever top it.

Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?)

What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?

I want Gabriel to have faked his death, tbh. Like, I want it all to have been some elaborate sting that involved having to go underground for his own protection, and that of his family’s. I want Carlos to make detective, and for him to be the one who solves his dad’s “murder.” (More realistically: I want a Nancy-centric episode, dammit.)

What do you think is going on in this still?

Between Carlos’ expression, TK’s background body language, and a few of the Rafa Cameos going around… I think it’s a call that something’s happened to Enzo, and the boys will end up getting Jonah in the end.

We all know about the elusive 5x05 spicy scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?

PLEASE GODS, LET IT BE SHOWER SEX. I would pay good American money that folds.

Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?

Mexico. I sent them to Cabo in to build a home, just because I love the Baja peninsula, but I’d love it to be somewhere picturesque and a little laid back, somewhere that isn’t super Spring Break-ish touristy (so no Cancún or Playa del Carmen, etc.) — Acapulco, Ensenada, maybe Guadalajara (where my abuela is from).

Rating these tropes from fave to least fave for bucktommy: omegaverse, modern magic, sentinel-guide, soulmates, alternate universe - different jobs, alt universe - different first meeting, super powers, werewolf, vampire, fairytale retelling.

1 - alt universe - different first meeting

my fave!! tommy never leaves the 118 OR they meet on a call before season 7 because tommy is flying the chopper - he's been around so much already - or one of them is injured or trapped/stranded. i just really love them both being firefighters but meeting at an earlier point in canon.

2 - alternate universe - different jobs

not a big fan of their jobs being completely different - like actors, doctors, athletes, ceos etc. (although i have seen a few tumblr ficlets that have me wanting to read 50k of a particular dynamic) but i do love when their jobs are different threads taken from canon (or related media) so: swat!tommy (thankyou swat!lou), mercenary!tommy (thankyou Outer Banks lou), 118!tommy, seal!buck, armypilot!tommy, mechanic!tommy, chef!buck, ranchhand!buck, bartender!buck..

BTW: going to add Royal AUs in here because holyshit i love the potential (and oliver being in Into The Badlands makes me wanna watch) whether set in medieval times or modern times gimme arranged marriage or forbidden love or anything i just need some royal boys or one royal boy and one civilian or soldier or something i need them all.

3 - vampire

i have envisioned a few vampire au ideas sparked by some of lou's photoshoots and an audition video he did for a vamp role? but i haven't found any vamp fics yet. i love the idea of older vampire!tommy with human buck. a simple yet delicious concept.

4 - super powers

maybe i'm a little swayed by the fact lou has played a superhero, and also there's a Percy Jackson AU going around that i was surprised by how much i enjoyed it, but yeah gimme superpowers: either one or both of them have powers, could be an X-Men type thing or The Boys or something. i'm very much into the whole antihero and vigilante thing so gimme some angst, maybe some Daredevil or Jessica Jones vibes. i'm also a fan of the clark/superman secret identity thing and the two-person love triangle thing.

5 - sentinel guide

this is the first i'm hearing of this trope but i googled it and i like the sound of it: it would have elements of a Fantasy or Superpowers AU but with the specific dynamic of buck having a power or purpose and either not feeling up to the task or going overboard or needing help and tommy being his guardian or guide, and for their relationship to shift into something romantic even though it's not supposed to, i love that.

6 - modern magic

i don't really like modern magic - i'm more into fantasy worlds and pre-modern magic. something about mixing magic with the digital technology era just doesn't spark joy in me. HOWEVER: i would be into witchy stuff set in the 90s or earlier (i've seen talk of a Practical Magic AU on the dash and i would be all over that even though i haven't watched the movie yet i know enough about it to want it).

7 - soulmates

being a Supernatural fan meant developing a loathing for soulmates and fate because in canon they're tied to a controlling asshole god, so i'm sort of conditioned to evil-eye soulmate tropes. HOWEVER: i absolutely adore the invisible string theory for buck and tommy, but i don't think there's much there to focus on fic-wise. it works as a satisfying narrative thing in the show, but idk.. i'm open to good fic recs for this trope if anyone has them?

8 - fairytale retelling

i confess i don't really understand this trope? i tried googling it and i kinda get it, but i think it would be a struggle to make it bucktommy without getting too ooc? idk. if anyone can give me an example with our boys that'd be great because right now i'm just confused and don't see it.

9 - werewolf

despite being an og Teen Wolf fan, i don't like werewolf AUs for other shows. outside of Teen Wolf i'm just not into it, which is odd i think.

10 - omegaverse

i'm not into a/b/o at all, so.

3. What fandoms do you write for? MASH at the moment, with no end in sight. I have two ideas for twin peaks but not much motivation to write them, let alone the discipline. 

4. What are your top five fics by kudos? if you really wanna know here’s my ao3 and you can you sort by kudos, i don’t wanna link my fics in other fandoms that are almost 7 years old now… pls… 

5. Do you respond to comments? i used to be quite diligent about doing it but when i was publishing near-daily for kinktober i fell behind because i was literally writing every day. i may still go back to respond to them because i like doing it. 

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? the beejhawk sex pollen fic (heavy dubcon warning)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? i’m realizing that most of traphawk fics are only ‘happy endings’ if you see them as self-contained, which they aren’t really, because even though trapper’s exit isn’t at all relevant, i’m not consciously ‘unwriting’ that. but in-fic probably Goodbye, Farewell and Amen to That because it explicitly states that TrapHawk can handle whatever is thrown at them, which would include whatever happens post-fic. 

8. Do you get hate on fics? for a while i had an anon who submitted vagues about me / my work so like yes, i’ve read a couple vagues seemed they were about my fic but, and i know this sounds like a cop-out but genuinely, i’m kinda flattered by anyone who hates my fic and still manages to read the whole thing and write a public post about how how they didn’t like it? like, what are we??? 

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? i consider myself primarily a smut writer, only incidentally non-smut writer. i write all kinds and can’t wait to diversify more. 

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? my dream fic is a specific crossover.

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? now that i have discovered the margaret longfic i really want to write i’ve officially abandoned my 80K canon-compliant margaret WIP

16. What are your writing strengths? i’m disciplined, i want to improve, i take risks, i’m curious, i’m honest and i welcome strong challenges from the people who edit my work.

What are your writing weaknesses? i have some barriers (i’m dyslexic and english is my not my first language) but i could still stand to be much more diligent about grammar and punctuation. beyond that, my prose tends to be flowery and verbose and need to be reined in a lot. i’m trying to get better at on my own but it helps that my OG beta, marley, is kind of my stylistic foil lol (hope she doesn’t mind me saying), she trims a lot of the fat from my work and helps me communicate my ideas better. lastly, sometimes i suffer from being really married to an idea that sounded cooler in my head than it does on paper, and i have a really hard time setting it down.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? i say this as someone who is multilingual - it’s almost never a good idea, especially in fic, if you’re having a main character speak partially in another language for no reason except to note that you, the author, knows that they speak another language. it could maybe make sense for atmosphere, but in that case, just say “they were speaking x language / they said something in x language”. 

i’ll be honest, it annoys me so much that if i see a character in a fic drop a few words in a language other than english and then continue on in english that i will x-out of a fic. there’s got to be some thoughtful in-universe explanation for that e.g. if you’re in Canada, bilingual service agents will say ‘Hello/Bonjour’ to you to indicate that you have an option to speak with them in either language. 

19. First fandom you wrote for? uhhh i honestly don’t remember. i’ve been writing fanfiction since before i was a teenager. first time i published it might’ve been for the legend of zelda.

Favorite fic you’ve written? at the moment it’s cherry bomb! because it was a nice, smutty interlude in traphawk’s relationship and a fic that exists mostly for kink’s sake but still has a distinct vibe, unlike filthysweet which i don’t hate, but imo is unremarkable. CB is 95% style 5% substance and still contains weight somehow. i really hope i can recreate that again.

Getting to Know Me (and You)

1. 3 ships I really like right now: This is hard for me for a very different reason...I really only like one ship at a time and I'm hardcore loyal to the ship for literal years. That said, I'll scrabble up a number 2 and 3, but my OTP is, to no-one's surprise:

SnowBaz: I've never found any couple in any form of media as endlessly interesting and inspiring as these boys. They're both so difficult in such different ways, and yet both so loveable. I simultaneously want to hug them until they heal and shake them until they see sense lol. But I guess that's what fic writing is for!

Andreil: These boys are even bigger disasters than Simon and Baz, so of course I Iove them. But I've never felt the slightest urge to write about them, so that love is a far distant second.

Elliot Schafer/ Luke Sunborn: Again, I love these flawed, lovely boys, but I don't even think about them often enough to know if there's a ship name for them!

2. First ever ship: Err...probably a pair of my little ponies or care bears or something. The first I remember is She-ra and Seahawk from the OG She-ra series. The first one I really cared about was Mulder and Scully from X-files.

3. Last song: @foolofabookwyrm-activated would laugh, because I honestly think my most recent song was Never Gonna Give You Up, when I rickrolled my last class today. Other than that? I remember hearing Phoenix, by Fallout Boy on the drive home? My music taste is kinda all over the place, but if I had to pin point a style, I'd have to say songs from movie soundtracks 😂

4. Last movie: Oh god...it's been so fucking long since I sat through a whole movie. I'm sure it was whatever Marvel or Pixar or Disney movie that came to theatres most recently? Hell, maybe it was the Barbie Movie. I do remember seeing that in theatres over the summer.

5. Currently reading: SnowBaz fanfiction, pretty much always. I've gotten terrible about finishing novels as life has grown busier and more chaotic. I think the last one I finished was maybe Ocean's Echo?

6. Currently watching: My favorite dancer on Tik Tok (for fic inspiration and also just because he's amazing).

✮ Vampire x Hunter

Cliche, maybe, but a trope I love all the same. Edge is the vampire, Stretch is the hunter. Being a Judge and a monster, Stretch ages more slowly than most, and him and Edge have been at it almost since he'd just picked up his brother's mantle. This one is mostly a fic idea, the working title is Last Dance and surrounds the actual point in their relationship they go from enemies to something...else.

✮ Vampire x Vampire

Using similar established lore to the poly au with the Voltary, Stretch is the actual Voltary here. He either finds Edge a struggling, freshly turned vampire or turns him to save his life, and in doing so, either way, winds up taking Edge under his wing until he’s got his land legs about him.

Of course, they wind up also falling in love.

✮ Contract

A poly au yes but originally it had just been a spicyhoney au/fic idea!

Everything is the same, Alibi just isn't there lol. Stretch accidentally summons an incredibly powerful demon, Edge, but he doesn't want the blood of his enemies or world domination. Some help with the laundry would be appreciated though. Aaand it mostly winds up domestic fluff with some angst thrown in there sometimes.

✮ Other demon one

Think this one might've actually cropped up before contract. It's definitely one of my older ideas. Edge is a bookshop owner. In one version, the summoning is accidental, in the other, it is with purpose. Either way, Edge's backstory is the same. He’s led a very rough life, lost almost everything from before, and has become a deeply lonely, isolated monster. But then Stretch comes into his life, and while at first he’s more annoying, and maybe even a little cruel, he slowly comes around to revealing a soft side that Edge somehow manages to bring out with ease.

Of course, they fall in love, but this one's a bit more angsty than contract, and deals more in poor mental health and recovery.

✮ Soul Bound

Another pretty old one, I might even still have a rough date for its og note...

A fic idea surrounding what might happen if Edge and Stretch had accidentally formed a soul bond. It starts out kinda cute, a little angsty, but as the story progresses, gets a lot angstier. Edge is bad at communication, and Stretch is a chronic represser. Surely it has a happy ending though...?

1. Basically the elementary keeps the villain kids in one class kinda just to keep them from the other classes i guess??? so Steven wasn’t in Becky’s class at first but he usually stayed behind after school in the science classroom and often would run into becky (even though he’s not her teacher) but he’d help her with things bc he stays after school for a while before he would go home. ANYWAY squeaky is the science class pet or whatever and people wpuld take him home sometimes yknow? so steven takes him home and he’s making up a lab or whatever (they normally don’t let kids do this but steven has rlly good grades and is skipping levels) but he has like a lab accident or something idk how science works yall tell me but basically everything else happens as it does in the og show ie he’s different after the lab accident and he gets moved to the villain classroom. situation still sucks in this version poor steven :(

OF COURSE they just don’t admit it bc theyre villains and they all think they have to be mean or whatever but even though they stress her out sometimes they still rlly respect her as teacher (they might have blown up her desk or smth though LMAO) i wish i could write better about it rn but i might make a fic abt this and i’ll explore it more idk maybe!! i’m terrible at making things quickly esp writing. but yeah i imagine they like becky she puts in a lot of effort to try to teach them (and also stop the gaggle of hooligans from commiting crimes but they don’t really know that she’s word girl except maybe two brains) they just won’t rlly admit it but there’s definitely a few moments where they do something nice for her

You know, it's kinda weird, but even though the brothers definitely deserve to get called the fuck out about how they treat Mammon, I don't think I've seen much of Mammon getting mad at whoever was doing the callout. Both because it makes him feel bad to hurt his brothers, and also in a "fuck you, you don't know me/us, this is private family shit" kinda way. Even if it's by MC, Mammon seems like he would still be pissed at them acting like they speak for him and for hurting his brothers (even if they deserve it), like most people in pretty toxic situations when that toxic person gets called the hell out and the person stuck in it gets mad at the caller

So according to Wikipedia, Melinoë was born at the mouth of the river Cocytus, where Hermes is stationed as a psychopomp just on the border of the living world and the underworld, which is just a hilarious image of a heavily pregnant Persephone taking a break over by the river when she heads into labor. None of the House of Hades is going to get there in time, thus leaving poor Hermes to play midwife in between bouts of trying to get literally anyone else to help

Lucifer has just enough characters with history with him to feasibly be the main character of an otome game himself. For example:

Diavolo is the clear simp and lonely rich boy with more to him than meets the eye and a very complicated relationship with Lucifer

Simeon as the former childhood friend/first ex who would like to reconcile despite how badly the break-up went [I see them more like brothers in how monks are brothers, don't @ me]

Mephistopheles is the poncy vain jerk who resents Lucifer for past slights but has a nice side to him that he gets super embarrassed about

Solomon is the mysterious weirdo trying to prove to Lucifer that he means no harm and trying to get past all his abandonment issues.

MC is the brand new exchange student that Lucifer warms up to a lot and ends up getting super attached to, despite just how dumb they can be

And for the secret character, Michael, who is a fucking weird dude (I say this with love) and fellow former bestie trying to get close to Lucifer in secret so that Lucifer doesn't push him away again

Add in the brothers and the other characters as a supporting cast and write up some bad endings and you have yourself a good base for a dating sim!

My #1 post of 2022

Fic idea based on this where the RAD newspaper club is going to the Mausoleum of the demon kings for some fluff piece when one gets the bright idea to head inside and do some stuff for the Demon King, pay some respect and maybe some funny pictures. So as one of the members goes in, the others record for a combination of posterity and a desperate attempt to explain it to the authorities if they get caught where they aren't supposed to be.

But as the little leader gets close to where the Demon King lies, they notice something off; the king should be in eternal sleep but he doesn't seem to be breathing. Not like they would know about how the Demon King sleeps, but it's still weird, isn't it?

Then they get close enough and there's definitely something wrong. They haven't seen the King in millennia at this point, but he has this unnatural grey-ish pallor and his body looks limp, not unlike a corpse.

The leader gets a bright idea: approach and touch the King, just to check if he's alive. This is risking getting eaten and their club members all tell them so, but still, gotta try, right?

A gentle poke, nothing.

A soft shove, nothing.

A whisper in the ear, nothing.

A semi-distant shout from an irate Mephistopheles (he must have called the other members at some point about why they went inside), nothing.

That's when the leader decides to check something; touching his chest to see if he's still alive, checking for a heartbeat. So they use their wings to fly up and reach a careful hand to push onto his chest. Only that it sinks upon their touch, like the Demon King's flesh is mattress foam instead of muscle over bone. But what their fingers sink into is the worst part.

It's a stab wound to the center of his chest, with stagnant black blood leaking out onto their hand and coating their fingers with a revolting sheen.

Mephistopheles can barely tell what's going on between all of the screaming, even as he tries to get back order and get some semblance of an explanation. But then he gets the worst news that he had ever heard in his life.

The Demon King is dead, stabbed in the chest who-knows how long ago.

The news is all over the Devildom within hours. It's understandable, their sovereign had been killed at some point and no one had known. The video evidence of the RAD newspaper club finding out is all over social media within minutes, and it's a mass panic for everyone that sees it. Mourning, fear, furious blaming the angels or the humans or just anyone because this can't be real, this can't be happening. The Demon King is dead, murdered.

Diavolo was the first to find out, Mephistopheles calling him in tears. It felt like the world had frozen in place, he was trapped in shock.

Not because his father was dead.

Diavolo was the one who killed him.

It's that people had found out.

5 Anti LO Asks

1. I just saw some post about body diversity in Lo and how it is grat and that they loving it, and it was just like 5 background characters that said only one sentence.

2. I feel like a lot of the couples are kinda not interesting no matter how much drama Smyth puts into them.

HXP gross, cheating, boss and employee, awkward for the work place, too many people are involved, and still isn’t grabbing it for me. Like I know other people root for them, but I don’t, it’s hard to root for a dumpster fire.

Hera and Zesus. The constant cheating was expected, and the bad communication, but Echo doesn’t spice it up or anything I would have been fine if Echo was a friend that shit talked Zeus with Hera (I know that’s not the story but still does Rachel care about accuracy? No) even though Zeus cheats we do get to see him actually care, BUT Idk Hera doesn’t draw me in, like they both suck, but Zeus is a bit more complex for me (with the bad husband, the cheating but still caring for Hera and being jealous)

Eros and Pysch. The beginning was interesting even knowing the myth, it was getting just a little stale and then bam he finds out on accident and I lost interest. Like they talked too much about HXP too much to feel like their own thing later on and now that he didn’t complete the test right like what now. Is Aphrodite gonna get in trouble or are we gonna forget? Idk they lost their spark for me.

Minthe and Hades. Toxic relationship that needed more time to expand explanation. Like yeah we know they are/were together but like that backstory wasn’t much. Sorry #minthedeservesmorescreentime.

Daphne abs Thanos are interesting and I can actually see why both like each other, where they started and I wanna know what’s gonna happen next for them. Like they have the life and death balance that HXP wishes even. And even tho Daphne isn’t a god, she told Apollo she was gonna ruin him, she bit him, she was awesome! And it was believable too since she’s an athletic influencer. Thanos has an interesting plot line that will probably be a problem for them later but I’m excited. Like both characters affect the plot outside of their relationship AND are interesting

Aphrodite and Ares feels like RS dropped the ball with them. Why is Ares flirting with Persephone? Sure they’re open but like idk Persephone doesn’t seem like a good fit for him at all. They were set up interestingly since we knew Aphrodite was looking for him, but that one little hug scene did no justice for either character. Like we hardly see them interact positively towards each other.

Crack ship Minthe and Hecate would have loved to see! My crack fic before I think a lot of season two was out was After Minthr parties Thetis and leaves her, she doesn’t snitch on Persephone and just tells Thetis to back off, returns to work all humbled out and Hecate and her work together on just personal shit and work stuff. Minthe asks Hecate stuff on how to get over Hades and how to be better and that’s when we learn Hecate always loved Minthe’s chaos. But yeah that didn’t happen. When I saw some crack headcanon s about those two I was like “didn’t know I needed this till now”. (I was hoping Minthe was gonna be like Petra from Jane the Virgin, starts out bad, doesn’t like the main character for most of the time but still gets a happy ending)

3. i like how LO fanss defend it like "well its no more problematic than the myth its based off of!" which like sure, thats an argument to make, but idk, the original myth didnt have persephone be nearly underage with no experience so hades can take advantage of it, demonizing several mother figures for the sake of a guy, a huge class divide thats frames the rich and powerful as the oppressed to the poor, and you know, ACTUAL SLAVERY. like cmon, it's honestly worse than the OG myth in most ways.

4. youd think if hades is self aware enough to know he was the wrong party to get into a relationship with minthe in the first place, that he'd at least be a little concerned over minthe being stuck as a plant, especially when persephone almost dropped her which would have killed her. the two of them just left her alone in a dark, empty room while they went to dance and goof off, not a care in the world. he seems more relived she's out of his hair now for him to hook up w/ his intern. its so gross.

5. I hope Demeter is pissed at her daughter for just like EVERYTHING. Taking a step back, Persephone is having a grand ol time at Hades’ place for god knows how long while her mother is worried about their situation and then gets kidnapped and Persephone makes 0 effort to try and get in contact with her or anything (hey hectare you saw my mom laying low as a bird, but any chance can you try and find her again and maybe we can arrange something since the literal god of gods is out for our blood so maybe let’s get the story straight)

Demeter going against her own comfort and parenting beliefs to left Persephone like with Artemis. It’s not Persphones fault that Apollo happened, BUT Demeter probably let Persephone live there after the murders to settle some stuff out and then 1 month of living there or so Persephone runs away to live in a motel and then has a power control issue. Let’s pretend the power control issue didn’t happen yet, what the hell was she gonna tell her mother? “Hey mom Artemis’ brother makes me uncomfortable so you can find me at this motel IN THE UNDERWORLD NEAR HADES YEAH THE GUY I FIND PLEASANT LOOKING” I know Demeter is suppose to look like an over the top mom, but yeah how was that suppose to go down? If she found out her daughter was staying with hades?

Getting an internship with Hades/underworld and not telling her mom. Idk if Hera made it a secret, but again Demeter would probably want to know that stuff being strict as she is, she probably would want Persephone to excel at a job BUT maybe not with Hades idk I forget, again it just shows there no trust between either mother nor daughter. Hera also sucks for testing her friends daughter with out actually having the intention to help perpshone and test if Hades is actually okay.

After everything Demeters gonna be like “this is why I wanted you to commute, I wouldn’t have been shoved in a bird cage if you you just have just commuted to school.”

Like I know persphone has to go out and make her own mistakes, but a lot of it boils down to Persphone was a brat. She demanded she leaves and then later killed some people got her way and then went behind her back and didn’t even want to stay in Olympus. Demeter isn’t blameless in this situation but Persephone is a murderer, glorified side chick, and I just feel that all of Demeter’s worse nightmares about her daughter leaving all happened and worse

Oh dear, somehow I have not prepared for this moment. 🙈 I'm not the most active reader anymore, and there are so many recs I've still yet to read, so some of my faves aren't going to be very current. Plus, I'm just bad at ranking faves! I also don't even really re-read, it's more like, whatever still stuck with me is a fave, haha.

Let me see...

1.) One of the first NaruHina fics I ever read may have been deleted and I forgot the title of it. :( But Naruto had been sent to the Land of Iron for an extended mission. He fell for the Inn Girl (an OC), returned to Konoha and began a romance with Hinata. There was a huge mystery going on with his black outs, I think he went in a coma after their marriage ceremony... I forget what happened after that, but at one point he was on another mission, blacked out and woke up to the dead bodies of enemy shinobi. The reveal was that the Inn Girl was murdered because the enemy was trying to get to him. Naruto repressed his trauma, particularly how he slaughtered the nin in revenge, and his guilt was quietly eating him up from inside. He gets all his memories back and last thing I remember, pregnant Hinata is doing the laundry when Naruto finds the photo of the Inn Girl included in their family album or maybe it was a picture frame, and Hinata in all her eternal kindness understood that girl had been his first love and yadda yadda yadda. Wish I remembered the title and author's name. 😅 This was a 2006 fic.

2.) Beyond The Mirror's Edge by Imaginarivalued (2012-2013). Road To Ninja hadn't come out yet and all we had to go on was the poster showing the personality flips and it was a glorious time to imagine What-Ifs.💖 This fic hit all my sweet spots when it comes to AUs, I mean, I just always dug the whole 'If there was no pain and everything was peaceful, what would their lives be like?'. It was my impression that RTN was going to be friendship-centric while poising interesting questions. I still need to see RTN, but I've spoiled myself on its contents and I guess there's a lot of quality family fluff but not much else?

3.) The Way Of The Geisha by Chancewriter (2011). I feel like this was the last fic I read before my fandom hiatus, and it's just really, really good. It also is responsible for my acquired liking of SasuHina. My only complaint was that the one smut chapter was kind of 'not enough'. I personally would've wanted a hint of Naruto's restraint during that scene, instead it came off less romantic and more like doing a favor? I hope that's not just me, eheh.

4.) Komorebi by Dizzydodo. One of the new ones to capture my attention! It's a Feudal/Soulmates AU where Hinata is to be married off to the Aburame clan, but instead gets spirited away by a fox spirit (Naruto), and it heavily focuses on the Red String of Fate. Beautiful, detailed prose, interesting world building, and eventual smut! I guess eventual, cuz the first time was sorta brief?

5.) Okay, I really can't choose among the new fics I've read this past year. 👉👈 "(common side effects)", "Medicated" are the last fics I've ever binged in years, with CSE I just kept wanting to know more, and the angst was beautiful✨ and the way Medicated deepens Hinata's side makes it essential reading. Both are so impressive. "Catskin" is the only fic of @dayseternal-blog's that I binged so far, next to "Last Chance", and it's so pretty. Last Chance is her Time Loop AU, and I dig it so much. I get "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time" feels. Tbh, I'm intimidated by DAYS8's writing quality, so I've been shying away from reading the rest of her stuff. 👉👈 Same with Utsus and Matchaball. And vegebulsoup and yeah, it's kinda snowballing. OTL I think my fave list might look like a lot of other's if I got around to reading the same popular stuff. XD Lastly, @sunshinefamily has really good fics that I love, too! Sorry for crowding the final spot like this! 😂
