thinking about how those red humans reproduce in the ningen
the new one is considered the “chestburster” and, after fully being out of the others body, became almost a replica of the other. almost immediately sprung up as an adult.
I feel like this implies that hugo, if he was indeed a ningen like his (replaced) father, never had a childhood to begin with. that is quite sad.
yet I wonder how he had come to pass off as a functioning adult. I mean, he never was really taught how to act like one considering he bursted out as one, physically atleast. does he just discreetly learn how to conform in japanese society?
want to know others thoughts/interpretations on this :))

Episode 81: The Ningen
Image 01: “Ningen” as illustrated by EerieZombie.
Image 02: The Soya icebreaker ship and Taro and Jiro the Japanese huskies.
Image 03: A Google Earth photo of a large, white, unidentifiable object is seen floating near the ocean’s surface. The photo, published to Mu Magazine, described the object as a “large, white, limbed figure, 19 meters long, swimming off the coast of Namibia”.
Image 04: By the end of 2008, the ningen was so popular that a J-Pop song entitled “Nankyoku no Ningen” (or “Ningen of the Antarctic” ) was voiced by Hatsune Miku. A screenshot from the music video is attached.
Image 05: April 2008 cover of Mu Magazine depicting a ningen
Image 06: Photo of an alleged ningen swimming quickly by a ship near Antarctica (left) and another alleged ningen photo (right)
Image 07: More ningen depictions
Image 08: Alleged ningen video compilation (credit: Mad Cat Mysteries YouTube channel, played at 2x speed to meet instagram’s posting requirements)
Image 09: Some claim that the Ningen is just an internet hoax resembling the Angel creatures from the popular anime television series Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Image 10: Other theories include that the ningen is a giant prehistoric aquatic sloth (perhaps a descendant of Thalassocnus), or a hybrid albino manta ray/shark (perhaps a descendant species of Aquilolamna milarcae), or a giant albino manta ray.

So….
Kinger can just remove his eyes?
That is hilariously twisted.
Taking a page out of Hugo Funatsu’s book it seems (“I removed my eyes to avoid the truth.”)

got around to watching The Ningen, and I find it pretty interesting! Especially with the only human character we really could see or characterize about: hugo funatsu
made some doodles of him too
I find him pretty interesting, as he’s the only other analog horror (haven’t expanded my knowledge on many analog horror series so inform me!) character that isn’t in america
basing off of the third video, he isn’t necessarily human, but unlike similar characters like adam murray (mandela catalog;btw i dont rlly support alex kister? idk what actually happened so-), he was asexually reproduced by presumably “keizo” using the wall of.. meat?
my interpretation is that meat wall was all the actual human crew and was used to create the red-lookalikes where hugo came from
if my interpretation is even remotely correct(I doubt that), then it would be reasonable to think that hugo is multilingual; he can already speak english and can read (presumably) japanese and russian, so I don’t think it’s too far off to say that he can understand the other languages the other men from the expedition speak and write
that’s all for now! I’m gonna try and get to watching mister manticores new series soon

american cryptid youtubers will make cryptid obsession their whole personality and build their entire channel around how much they love cryptids but they'll still refuse to learn how to pronounce the names of creatures that they make their money off if said creature is from a non-english country. truly amazing display of casual anglo-centrism and dismissal of other cultures.

The Ningen
It is not clear when the first account of the “Ningen” was reported. Some sources cite the first reported eyewitness of the creatures as taking place in the 1990s, while others claim that the Ningen was first documented all the way back in the late 1950s. While origins are murky, what is not murky is when the creature rose to popularity. In 2002, a post went viral on popular Japanese message board “2Channel” when a user known only as “Part-Timer” posted about her friend’s eye witness account of a white, blubbery, giant humanoid that emerged from the oceans near Antarctica.
