Kamen Rider Black holds up

A Baphomet visual, Brainwashing villages, Silkworm monsters kidnapping people, Spider mutants fucking shit up, a Rhino Kaijin flipping cars, an Eagle monster swiping a mf off the street-

This shit is it.

This is basically Japans Ghost Rider, cause everything he's doing, Johnny in his retro days was doing. Cross country crime fighting.

He even dresses like Blaze, down to the boots.

This Kamen Rider shit gets deep man.

The best part is the camera tricks, in 1987 they knew they were limited by effects and would use some sly editing tricks to get around having to use too much CGI.

They even used a reverse footage of the actors jumping in the ocean to simulate them jumping out the water. Just so resourceful.

BLACK SUN is a testament how far the visuals have come, narrative too. (Tho Black Sun is a bit too politically driven for my taste)

Yet, back then Kaijins were legit the enemy, demonic at times, but now Black Sun humanizes them.

For a Retro take, it's definitely a slow burn, but pretty solid, it holds up.

Finally got this done!! Based on a scene from my own fanfic, Like a Rolling Sea Sickness, where I got so sad that none of the other showa riders appeared until RX to help Kotaro and attempted to fix this with a post-Black guilt session between Hongo and Kotaro.
