Weird Things About Yōkai
Humans actually learn faster than yōkai because of their short lives. They are also more adaptive whereas yōkai are more like rocks in that they endeavor to change as little as possible. Humans are more akin to wind or water, flowing whatever which way they need to in order to get where they need to go or accomplish what they need to accomplish.
While yōkai are warriors & fighters, ningens are more creative. They are creators, inventors, & innovators. It is human ingenuity that drives progress forward.
---
Yōkai actually don’t have very sensitive tongues, so very few of them pursue the culinary arts, having a preference for raw meats (provided they’re carnivorous) & often refuse to consume human food due to prejudice. However, the few who do, never regret it. On the other hand, hanyō have a more sensitive sense of taste bordering on human. Pairing that with a yōkai sense of smell & you get the perfect combination for a world-class chef, provided the hanyō pursues their innate talent.
---
Yōkai are breastfed for the first 3 years of their lives.
On that note, Sesshōmaru wasn’t breastfed as a pup & it results in him having a proclivity towards breasts It’s not necessarily a sexual urge. Regardless, resting his head on a woman’s breast has a tendency to relax him. Some part of him craves to have a woman cradle his head to her chest or having hands brushing through his hair as he naps, or just be treated tenderly in general. He hasn’t discovered these things about himself yet.
---
Kōga is heteroromantic & bisexual. Most wolf yōkai are like this. They are, after all, a very sexually open breed of yōkai. You all saw how many men were in his pack. If that’s not a sausage party, I don’t know what is.
Most canine yōkai are fairly sexual in fact, kitsune & ōkami especially. Inu tend to try to be more private with their proclivities, but that doesn’t stop them from enjoying wild, (sometimes kinky) sex just as much as kitsune & ōkami.
---
Full yōkai babies require their sires to supply them with yōki or it’s highly likely that they’ll miscarry. If not, they tend to result in lower yōkai (which are yōkai unable to take on humanoid form). It’s part of the reason why yōkai don’t reproduce as much as ningens.
Hanyō babies don’t necessarily need it, but it’s very healthy for them. If the yōkai parent is the mother (a yōjo), then the yōki is already supplied & there are few risks. If the sire is the yōkai & he doesn’t supply yōki, it increases the chances of a miscarriage. Should the child be born without a healthy supply of yōki, it is almost guaranteed to be either weak, deformed, or both. This is part of the reason there is a misconception amongst yōkai that hanyō are weak, or weaker than full-blooded yōkai, & abominations, because most hanyō either have deadbeat dads or their sire was killed early in the pregnancy.
The idea that hanyō are weaker than yōkai is false, insidious gossip fueled by bigotry. The only evidence for this is that no known hanyō are able to take on beast form & don’t have as much strength as full-bloods.
However, the power & physical prowess of yōkai is largely attributed to the amount & potency of their yōki, as well as their ability to control it. If one were to either seal or steal a yōkai’s yōki, their capabilities would be reduced to that of an especially strong & durable human with some extra features. Those few in yōkai society that are aware of this, usually don’t like to even think about it, let alone deeply, & they refuse to discuss the topic with others, preferring to keep it as an unknown.
Anyway, if the yōkai sire dies or otherwise leaves before the infant is born, then the mother has the option to find a surrogate to supply yōki for the baby in the sire’s stead. The caveat being that the sire & the surrogate must be the same species of yōkai. So, if the baby is half inu, then the surrogate needs to be inu too.
Something else, canine yōkai sires will traditionally choose to supply their yōki by engaging in intercourse with the onna as not only is it easier to release one’s yōki during times of great passion in a more passive way, it is also thought to help the sire & dam to bond.
They don’t have to, but habit is habit. However, those with better control over their yōki are able to share their yōki without the need for sex.
The reason why it’s easier to share yōki during sex is because yōki is normally molded & used aggressively & it can be difficult for some to manipulate it in a different way. Sex is an easy proxy for the passive sharing of yōki.
On the other hand, if everything goes off without a hitch then you get a perfectly healthy, strong, & normal-looking baby. Also, naturally, the stronger the parents, then the stronger the baby.
---
Ningen gestate for 9 months, hanyō for 10 ½ months, & yōkai for a full year. It takes longer for yōkai because of how long-lived they are.
This is part of the reason why yōkai mating season starts in spring. That is to say that yōkai can conceive at other times, but they tend to try & avoid doing so in winter, finding spring or summer to be ideal with fall being less so, but still better than winter.
Male yōkai experience rut twice a year. The same can be said for yōjo with their heat.
---
If hanyō, specifically tai-hanyō, finish puberty & breach a specific threshold of yōki, a hanyō can acquire a beast form. After doing so, the yōkai side of a hanyō with a yōkai parent whose blood is too strong for their body to contain (as in Inuyasha’s case) will be forced to fight their inner beast & get it to submit. After doing so, it will no longer be an issue as far as mass murder goes. So long as the hanyō hasn’t lost their soul to their beast completely by that point & they’ve gotten it to submit, there shouldn’t be a problem anymore.
Hanyō who have a reijin (reiki user) parent are much less likely to lose control of their beast. If their reijin parent either has equal or more reiki than their yōkai parent has yōki, then this problem is non-existant.
Also, a hanyō with a yōkai parent that has markings will obtain them for themselves more permanently.
---
Yōkai are not demons because demons are a Judeo-Christian concept & yōkai are specifically eastern in origin.
The idea of yōkai being demons is likely a result of the language barrier getting in the way. Demons are, without question, evil beings of pure darkness whereas yōkai are more neutral. Demons, specifically, are a Judeo-Christian concept for when an angel falls from grace & becomes a demon. Yōkai are not part of Christian lore & therefore are different. Specifically because they were always as such & had never been angels.
A more accurate approximation would be that yōkai are (oriental) daemons (day-mons phonetically), which are nature spirits & are more neutral. The words are similar, but like panda bears & red pandas, they are 2 different things.
Something interesting, yōkai originate from Japan, but the oriental daemons from China are called yaoguai & the ones from India are called yaksha (which is where the word yasha in Inuyasha is derived from).
Female yaksha are called yakshinī, so a yasha’s female counterpart would be called yashinī.
There is no real word for a female yōkai, but I’ve been calling them yōjo, which can be translated into witch or strange female.
These creatures are strictly Asian in origin & though they can occasionally be found in other countries & continents, Asia is where they originate from.
As for other continents, they have their own supernatural beings, such as Europe having the fae folk & European monsters such as vampires & werewolves, as well as, friendly, protective creatures such as gargoyles. The Middle East & other desert areas have things like djinns, rocs, & sīmurghs. There are even specific countries known for dwarves, gnomes, trolls, giants, & all sorts of things.
Asia also has merfolk, but they’re like humans & are international.
One final thing, there are ōkami yōkai living in North America, but no other kinds. The reason for this being when a bunch of humans & animals migrated across the Bering Strait during the Ice Age; some wolf daemons just followed their prey to the new world & they sort of became part of local legends over time.
---
When a yōkai is struck with reiki & it doesn't kill them, it nullifies the yōkai healing in that area. Because of this, unless the reiki is removed or the yōkai has potent enough yōki to overpower it in the wound, the injury will be forced to heal as slowly as it would for a human & may need medical attention.
Even if they are able to fight the reiki inside the wound, it can still be a struggle to overcome. Sometimes the reiki can cause what's essentially infections.
A lot of yōkai medical discoveries & practices has come about as a result of this. However, due to normally not needing such healing assistance, their medical knowledge is more primative than humanity's as a result.
It isn't unheard of for a yōkai healer desperate for a leg up to use human methods & modify it for use on yōkai then claim that they discovered it themselves.
---
Humans, being as adaptive as they are, are known in some circles as energy conductors as they are able to manipulate different energies more easily than others.
Like, there are creatures that are born with a certain ease for a specific energy such as fae with fae magic, yōkai with yōki, & certain holy creatures with holy powers. Those same creatures are less capable of utilizing foreign energies. Like, yōkai don’t excel at magic by nature. However, humans can have a certain knack for using all sorts of energy provided they are exposed to it at an early enough age & train it.
---
Kannushi are essentially the male equivalent to miko & are also known to possess reiki, yet for whatever reason we never hear about them.
---
The claws of canine yōkai actually aren’t sharp. Their lethality comes from the strength behind them.
---
The Makai, that is to say the Yōkai Realm, was created when ningen magic-users noticed that the humans of Asia were taking up more & more space & were encroaching upon oriental daemon territory. This paired with the introduction of guns to the east & an uprising from fanatical reijin as well as the daemons’ own low fertility, put eastern daemons at risk of extinction. They came together with the daemons of Asia & created a parallel dimension for yōkai, yaoguai, yaksha, & other eastern daemons to live without fear of persecution.
---
Yōkai are not actually immortal. Yes, they are long-lived & hard to kill, but the fact of the matter is that they CAN be killed. Immortals, by definition are incapable of death & therefore yōkai CAN’T be immortal. Not only that, but they can die of old age, it just takes a long time & very rarely does it ever happen. Typically, when yōkai die, it is either a result of being killed or, very rarely, via diseases & viruses so infectious that even yōkai can catch them. Typically, they’re concidered plagues or poxes. Because yōkai never get sick, they find it remarkably difficult to fight off illness when they actually do catch them.

A Heart's Abduction: Chapter 2
"What the hell is going on?" Kagome demanded, slowly pushing herself off of the bed, clutching the pillow to her chest as she approached the windows.
Maybe this was a really impressive TV and she was just being punked. That was still a thing, right? Ashton Kutcher was going to jump out of a closet any second and tell her that this was all one big very unfunny joke.
"Do you not remember?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. "I know that you were hit pretty hard on the head...Does it hurt? Would you like something for the pain?"
"I just want answers," she demanded, angry and scared, tears pooling in her eyes.
He nodded and sat down on the couch under the windows, gesturing for her to join him.
Ha! Like that was going to happen.
He sighed and moved his hands back into his lap, looking up at her with concern. "I won't harm you," he tried to gently reassure her, but she wasn't feeling very reassured at the moment, especially when she saw his ears lower to his head. Was he trying to make her feel guilty, for making him feel bad, for fucking kidnapping her? "What do you remember?"
"Looking for my cat in the woods. And then I found your little group."
"Is that all?" He pressed, his ears tentatively unflattening.
"Yes," she confirmed, feeling her bottom lip begin to quiver. She would not cry. She absolutely would not fucking cry. She couldn't. Not in front of this guy. She had to be strong and find a way out of this crazy, shitty mess.
He tilted his head to the side in thought, as if he was trying to decide if she was telling the truth or if there was another detail she was keeping from him. "What do your people call you?" he finally asked.
"Kagome."
"Kagome," he repeated, trying her name and feeling it pass over his lips and tongue. He seemed to roll it around in his mouth, savoring the syllables and tasting her name like a sweet candy. "Kagome...I am Inuyasha of Inusekai, second son of Touga, ruler of Inukuni."
"That's a very long name," she whispered and she watched his face split into a wide grin before he smoothed it away.
"You can call me Inuyasha."
"Inuyasha," she nodded, squaring her shoulders. "Please take me home."
"I can't do that," he repeated with a sigh. "I wish I could, but that's no longer an option. If you hadn't found us…" he trailed off, shaking his head. "I'm sorry, but I can't. You're a liability, and we can't have that. My men wanted to kill you. I persuaded them not to and this was the alternative."
"No," she whispered, shaking her head vigorously. "This couldn't possibly have been the only alternative. What are you even going to do with me now that you've kidnapped me?"
He glanced down in shame once the translator finished relaying her plight to him. He didn't have a plan. He had no fucking idea what her life was going to be like long term. He had just had her knocked unconscious, and whisked her off to his...his what? Space craft?
She shook her head, and clenched her fists as her head began to feel light from panic. Fainting wasn't going to help her now. "I'm just going to be a problem for you. Just take me home and I won't be your problem anymore," she insisted, trying to reason with him.
"It would be easier to kill you than take you home at this point, and it would give me the same end result," he replied wryly, causing her to clutch the pillow tighter and back away from him. He immediately winced at her reaction as he closed his eyes and his fists before opening them again.
"Kagome, I will not harm you," he stated firmly again, looking back up at her. "I will not let you be harmed. You're under my protection now, and I'll keep you safe."
"How do you expect me to trust that when ten seconds ago you were talking about killing me?"
"I won't kill you," he insisted.
"How can I trust that?"
"If I wanted to hurt you, I could have done it already," he pointed out dryly. "You have been unconscious for quite some time. I was starting to worry."
That would explain why he was hovering over her when she woke up.
"Just because you didn't before, doesn't mean you won't change your mind about it now."
"That is true…" he agreed slowly. "But why would I want to?"
"I can be quite difficult. Maybe even a pain to deal with. Why keep me around? If you say you don't want to hurt me, but you don't want to deal with me, wouldn't it be easier to just take me home?"
"I told you I can't do that," he sighed. "We're too far away now for a pod and we can't turn around now, not without running out of fuel. You're coming with us to Inusekai, and I'll figure out what to do with you when we get there."
She felt her legs give out as her head started to spin and he leapt forward to catch her as she fell.
You're coming with us to Inusekai…
His words seemed to echo over and over again in her mind and she felt like she was going to vomit. He gently pried the pillow from her arms as he scooped her up and laid her down on the couch, resting her head on the pillow he took from her. He gently moved her black hair out of her face and she felt his fingertips linger on her cheek for a moment before he pulled away, a slight blush staining his cheeks.
"I had a medic look at you when we brought you on...He gave me macarons to help with your head when you woke up."
"Macarons?" she repeated, puzzled. She couldn't have heard that right.
He stood up and went to the small night stand next to the bed, picking up a glass of something clear and liquid and a small bottle of something she couldn't see before returning to her side.
"Macarons," he repeated, opening the small bottle and holding a hand out for her to look at the two small pill like objects he held. "It'll help with your head," he explained. "It'll make it stop hurting."
"Those aren't macarons," she smiled smally. "It's medicine."
"Medicine," he repeated tilting his head. "Medicine…Kagome...Medicine..." He seemed to enjoy trying out English. This was good to know. Maybe that could be useful to her.
"Your translator isn't perfect."
"It's not. It will become more accurate the more you speak," he shrugged before offering her the pills and clear liquid again.
"No...Thank you. I don't want it."
"It'll help you feel better," he insisted, shaking his head and pushing them towards her.
"I feel fine," she snapped, and his ears lowered and his eyes dropped. "I don't trust it," she found herself explaining and he looked back at her in surprise before his face softened into understanding and he lowered his eyes again.
"I see...But you are in pain?"
She looked away from him, unwilling to discuss her health with him since it was his fault she was in this predicament.
"Kagome?" he prompted, reaching out to her and she jerked away, her reaction stilling his hand and making him retract it. He frowned in thought before nodding. "Kagome, look at me," he demanded and she slowly turned her head and raised her eyes to his face. He placed the pills into his mouth and drank some of the liquid from the glass to wash them down.
"And that's supposed to prove to me that I should take your pills?"
"Yes," he replied firmly, squaring his shoulders. "Why would I take them if they if they would hurt you?"
"Because maybe they won't hurt you like they will me," she shot back, and she saw his jaw twitch.
"I am part ningen too."
"Excuse me?"
"Ningen. My mother is ningen, like you."
"What the hell is ningen?"
"What you are," he replied in frustration. "The medic told me when I took you to him. You are of the ningen species."
"I'm a human," she disagreed, and he tried the word again, repeating it.
"You are human...I am part human too."
"You don't look very human."
"My father is an Inu Youkai," he explained, and this time she tried the word, and his lips turned up slightly in response as he nodded. "I look different because of him. But I am like you too. But I am stronger."
Her breath caught in her throat at that and she shifted away from him. Was that a threat?
He seemed to understand her unease and sighed. "I won't hurt you, Kagome," he promised again, looking down dejectedly. "I want you to be safe and well. I will find you a purpose when we get to Inusekai."
"I had a purpose on earth," she shot back, pushing herself to sit back up.
"Earth...earth...earth…"
"Would you stop doing that," she snapped and he winced, tilting his head up and to the side and letting out a whimper like sound. "Is that supposed to mean something to me?" she asked harshly, and he closed his eyes.
"I...it's submission," he winced again, almost like verbally admitting that he was submitting to her was painful.
She just cocked her head to the side, pondering what he had said. He looked like a dog. Whimpered like one. Submitted like one. How interesting. Perhaps this could be useful as well.
"Does that mean you will let me go home?"
"I keep telling you I can't," he replied in exasperation.
"Because I'm a liability?"
"Yes."
"How?"
"You know too much."
"Because I saw a group of oddly dressed men walking around in the woods? That could mean anything," she scoffed.
"It doesn't matter. It's too late," he insisted, shaking his head.
"It doesn't have to be. You can always take me home."
"I told you. I can't," he explained as calmly as he could, but she could see from the look in his eyes that he was becoming annoyed with her.
"Ok...you can't. Because of the fuel, right? That's why you can't take me home?"
"And because you're a liability."
"What if I weren't?" she asked hopefully. "You clearly have technology well beyond what my people have. We have nothing like that translator. What if there is a way to take this from my memory and take me home? There has to be," she pleaded, watching as he bit the inside of his lip.
"There might be a way…"

The Shikon no Miko was given another chance at life, just not in the way she expected. And that Daiyoukai with his ningen ward is looking pretty fine.

Now and Forever- Part 1
Sess-Kag Week 2k18
Canon take-off. Sequel to Written In The Stars.
(Wow this is longer than I'd meant it to be! This story had a mind of its own... 0.0 I hope you all enjoy! ^,^ )
(Edit: It is so big I have to divide it into separate posts. Sorry for the inconvenience!)
Prompt:
Day 3 - Sudden, steal, soft, breeze
Dark clouds loomed overhead, the brisk breeze warning Kagome that the storm was coming. Her white and blue traditional garb whipped around her as she struggled to pick a few more herbs that hadn't been completely roasted by the harsh summer sun. "Just a little more," Kagome pleaded with the sky as she plucked a green root from beneath the soil. She had no such luck. Lightning streaked across the sky, thunder cracking right along behind it. As if it was a signal, a sudden heavy downpour began. She was drenched before she had even gotten to her feet. "Great!" Kagome groaned as she pulled her woven basket to her chest and darted under trees. They provided minor protection from the driving rain, but it was something, at least. However...she had wandered too far away from Edo to simply sprint back to the dry comfort of her hut. Vision blurred and feet slipping along slickening mud, she decided to search for shelter elsewhere. There were caves around there somewhere...she just had to find them.
Visibility really was terrible. She stumbled into numerous trees and thickets in her search for a safe place to crash. Twigs and leaves caught in her long tresses; limbs and thorns scratched and tore into her tender skin. And she was pretty sure she pulled something in her left ankle in one of her mud slides... Gasping for breath, ribs burning, Kagome slipped and grasped for what looked like a tree...but it was a dense thicket. She fell right through. "Shhhiii-uhhnn!" The basket went flying as she fell through...onto a hard, flat, rock. The pain registered first, a burning-stinging sensation in her limbs, her knees scraped up right along with her forearms. Kagome scrambled to get on all fours, searching out the basket and some of the fallen herbs. It was about that point that she'd found four escaped herbs that it dawned on her. She crashed onto a rough, rocky surface...ergo, she was very close to a cave. Grabbing one more herb, Kagome crawled her way back to the rocks, following the trail into the mouth of the cave. Kagome was finally given reprieve from the onslaught of water...
Sliding the basket farther in, she just laid out on the dry, sandy floor for a long moment, panting and trying to tune out the burning in her body from running and the stinging of her scratches and scrapes. She expanded her reiki, searching the cave for possible youkai threats or signs of life anywhere within. It was empty, thank the gods! Kagome slowly hefted herself up into a sitting position, wincing and hissing as she did. Man she was sore! And getting chilled. The weather was cooling off rapidly. While it wasn't cold by any definition, Kagome was soaked to the bone and the whipping wind did nothing to ease the coolness from her flesh. Goosebumps raised and she cursed as she began to tremble. She had to take off her sopping wet clothes. Peering outside, she could only see hints of green and brown amid the storm. Lightning lit the sky as thunder rumbled behind it, but the visibility wasn't any better. If she couldn't see out, no one could probably see in, either. She hoped. With reluctance, Kagome untied the ties of her hakama and shimmied out of them. Her left ankle hit the rocky ground and pain flooded in.
"Oowwww...geeeeeeez," she groaned, freeing her legs from the fabric. Parting her white kimono and nagajuban, Kagome slid her hands along her smooth left leg to her very obviously swollen ankle. "Great...that's all I needed...," She sighed. But there wasn't much she could do for it. The herbs she'd managed to pick weren't anything she could use for swelling. Untying her kimono, Kagome shed both it and the nagajuban. She used the tie, still soaked and cool, to wrap around her ankle. Maybe the coolness would help reduce the swelling before she was able to get out. Spreading her clothes out on the floor to dry, she wrung out her waist-length locks before crawling around on hands and knees in the dark- carefully keeping her ankle off the ground. She felt out the floor as she went, finding a nook in the side of the cave. It wasn't very big...maybe with enough room for two people to squeeze in. But it was out of the way of the chilling wind. Kagome shuffled in and situated herself with her back to the wall, legs drawn to her chest. The storm had only just begun...and it looked like it might rage on for a while. With another sigh, she laid her head down on top of her knees and erected a small barrier that encompassed the cave. And now...the wait...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Lord Sesshoumaru...you're soaked," Sango greeted the daiyoukai at the door of her hut and ushered him in, handing him a length of cloth to dry off with all the while. He inclined his head in thanks.
"Where is the miko?" He asked instead of greeting them, merely holding the cloth in hand as the water-logged Inu stood near to the door. He was entirely uncomfortable being as wet as he was, dressed. The clothes stuck to his skin right along with his silver strands of hair. But he did nothing to convey his discomfort. Sango and Miroku's very much dry kids were playing cheerily by the fire.
"She went out hours ago to gather herbs...," Sango informed with a worried nibble to her lip. "The storm started in, and there's been no trace of her..."
"How long has it been since the storm began?" His eyes narrowed perceptibly.
"A couple of hours, maybe...Miroku went out to see if he could find her," Sango replied, her every pore dripping with worry. And she was right to be. Any human in this weather would not be well-off...not to mention the possibility of illness or incident of either the youkai sort or that of nature. Sesshoumaru was not happy. "We hoped maybe she had found-!" She was interrupted by a huff and a gasp as Miroku staggered in and fell to his knees as he panted softly. "Miroku!" Sango was at his side in the blink of an eye, hand on his shoulder. Sesshoumaru blinked at the monk. The rain was so droning that he hadn't even heard the ningen coming... All of his senses were dulled by that damned water falling from the heavens. This was exactly why he hated rain...
"I'm...alright," Miroku panted, water quickly pooling around him as he looked up at Sango with a tired but loving smile.
"You didn't find the miko," Sesshoumaru spoke with his usual stoic mask, only his tone betraying his disappointment.
"It's not...that I didn't...," Miroku shook his head, gazing up at the daiyoukai as his amber eyes narrowed just a bit more. Miroku's black hair clung to his face, water droplets streaming down like tears. His face was etched with regret. "I couldn't...reach her. She was too far out...and with the weather as it is...the paths are hazardous. Too much for humans...I know my limitations... But, she's holed up in the North-West somewhere... There's some small mountains there, and I hope...she found shelter in them... I followed the feel of her reiki for a while- that's how I found...out which direction she went. Kagome is staying stationary somewhere in that general direction...and that is all I can say for certain."
"...You did well," Sesshoumaru praised, dropping the cloth Sango had given him onto the drenched monk. Miroku looked up at him in wide-eyed shock. Sesshoumaru wasn't one to give compliments very often. Only when they were well-deserved. And this was one of the rare few times. Because the monk had useful information to go on. If Sesshoumaru had been searching for Kagome in this weather with his youki and she wasn't using her reiki...it was similar to trying to find a star behind dense clouds. Murky at best with unfavorable results. But she was using her reiki...so her light would penetrate said metaphorical clouds. He could find her. The terrain was a bother, but it wasn't as much of a problem for him as it was for humans. Without a word, Sesshoumaru turned and began walking out of the hut.
"W-wait!" Sango called after him. Sesshoumaru paused. "Where are you going?!"
"To retrieve the miko," he replied simply. Before more could be said or asked, Sesshoumaru was speeding out of the hut and into the downpour. Instead of using his other senses...which were completely useless to him at the moment, he opened up his youki and spread it out as he started North-West. At first he couldn't feel her reiki. And he was partially distracted by the rain. Going at his normal speed- which far exceeded Inuyasha's- in the driving rain and harsh winds gave him wind burn. Nasty red splotches that burned and stung his flesh enough to make his fingers curl. It would be gone within moments of stopping somewhere, but it was an unneeded annoyance nonetheless. It almost kept him from recognizing the weak pulse of Kagome's reiki. He did stop then, after about half an hour of relentless searching. The rain was an annoyance in so many ways...but he closed his eyes and focused passed the cold water to the weakening reiki. His youki poured out like a tidal wave, searching out what should have been a conflicting energy, and it washed over the reiki...an aura so pure and refreshing that it could only be the miko's. Her power was ebbing away...she was weakening. Was she being attacked? Was she wounded? Knocked unconscious? In some sort of predicament? He couldn't tell. The only thing he knew for sure, besides her far-off location, was that there were no youkai within several meters of her. Strange, but he wasn't complaining. His golden eyes opened, flaming with ambition and purpose. "I am coming....Kagome." With an urgency he felt down deep in his bones, Sesshoumaru began sprinting in her direction.
InuSessKag Story Idea
I won’t actually be writing this; if anyone decides they want to write this, I certainly won’t mind. I’d actually like to read it for myself & my only request should you write it is that you send me a link to the story.
---
It's early in the shard hunt. Kagome & Sesshōmaru end up in a relationship. At first, it isn't romantic. Its more acquaintances than anything. This will be a slow burn. It happened one evening when Kagome & Inuyasha had an argument over him going to see Kikyō, but it wasn't quite bad enough to send her home.
Instead, she ran out into the woods, not too far, but far enough that she was away from everything. At the same time, Sesshōmaru had taken leave of his pack to have some quiet & practice his shogi. He never liked playing with Jaken because he always praised him incessantly for every move made by the taiyōkai. The little imp also had a tendency to not even try to win. This irked him.
Rin, on the other hand, was enthusiastic about learning to do something her lord obviously enjoyed but was even less skilled than an amateur for the time being. As a result, he had no one to challenge his skills.
As he was walking, he immediately knew that his brother's miko was not far away in his path & he refused to change his direction for the sake of a human or anyone else for that matter.
They met, she said some words, then she noticed that he was carrying a shogi board. Kagome had always loved playing shogi with her father & still enjoyed it today. She'd even been offered a place on the shogi club at school a time or 2 but refused for the sake of her studies. She offered to play the taiyōkai & he scoffed at the idea of playing a human but then, after actually thinking about it, decided he was both bored & slightly curious about her oddities.
He decided, "why not," & they played. Sesshōmaru was soon surprised, she hadn't won, but she'd gotten damn close. The little ningen was immensely skilled, utilized techniques he'd never seen before & seemed to quite enjoy herself.
Then, when he thought about it, so had he.
That was the start of their odd acquaintanceship. They began to see each other frequently over the years to play shogi, sometimes talking about the things going on in their lives. After a while, he began to ask for her opinion on how to care for Rin & she was more than happy to lend him her aid.
Sesshōmaru also encouraged Kagome to refine her skills as a miko & archer. Also, that if she must wear her odd foreign clothes, at least wear something that hid more of her legs. This sparked a bit of an argument with the stubborn girl, but it quickly ended when he pointed out that he had seen her odd undergarments on more than 1 occasion. She now wears jeans.
Kagome introduced having tea to their little games. Her parents were teaists & she'd always liked the different flavors they came up with & liked brewing herself. Sesshōmaru found he quite enjoyed the unique smells & tastes she sometimes brought with her.
During this time, Kagome was developing feelings for Inuyasha, not even registering Sesshōmaru as a possibility for the moment, mostly due to his obvious dislike of humans.
At the same time, Sesshōmaru found himself enjoying his time with the miko more & more. He wasn't sure why, but he enjoyed her company.
Kagome soon realized that she loved Inuyasha, but she was willing to step aside for his happiness. After all, considering how often he chose Kikyō over her, it wasn't difficult to see where everything was leading. Not only that but the hanyō had a tendency to berate her & compare her unfavorably to his dead love. It was doing terrible things to her self-esteem. At least she had Sango & her mother to comfort her each time the hanyō broke a little more of her heart. As much as she enjoyed Sesshōmaru’s company, he wasn’t much for comfort, at least, not yet.
As it turns out, though, Inuyasha was like this in an effort to push Kagome away & keep himself from falling for her. It, quite frankly, wasn't working.
At the same time, he still loved Kikyō & he owed her. By the end of their journey, he was split in 2 over deciding, he loved them both so much, but his guilt towards what happened with Kikyō won out almost every time. Some part of him in the very back of his mind wondered why he couldn’t just have both. (The reason being that he’d never be able to get the 2 miko to consent, which is key. For Kikyō, she was very conservative & even a little prudish in her views of marriage. Not only that, she felt that he’d been hers first. For Kagome, the second Kikyō had been brought back, she’d felt like she was coming in second place in Inuyasha’s heart. If this relationship were to actually happen, she’d feel like that for the rest of her life.)
In a similar way, by year 2, Kagome was also split in 2 over Inuyasha & Sesshōmaru, but she was slowly edging towards Sesshōmaru, because he had actually started reciprocating, in small ways mind you, but still, & Inuyasha simply hadn't.
At some point, Inuyasha learns about Kagome's outings with his half-brother & feels deeply betrayed, jealous, angry, & despondent. Instead of confronting them, he storms off. Sesshōmaru knew he was there the whole time, but said nothing, just smirked at him. Inuyasha sulked to himself & snapped at everyone who tried to talk to him for a good week after that, before finally confronting her about it which incited a massive argument that ended in him being sat halfway to hell & her on her way home for a few days. This extended his sulking for yet another week.
---
Kagome eventually starts studying medicine in the modern era in order to better help in the past. She also really starts to improve as a miko, having frequently sought out other mikos to train her whenever the tachi came across a village with one. Kaede is her main teacher.
She was also learning about herbs & natural remedies from Kaede.
Kagome visited with Rin whenever she could, often bringing Shippō with her so the 2 could play. They became fast friends. She often had gifts for the girl, such as coloring supplies & a doll or 2, ribbons for her hair, that sort of thing. One day, she brought material to help teach the kids how to read & write as well as count.
This surprised everyone there besides Shippō. After all, there aren’t many educated women in the Sengoku Jidai unless they were in the upper echelons of society.
As time goes by, Kagome feeds more & more of her soul to Kikyō behind everyone's backs, in order to keep her around for Inuyasha's sake. It starts to affect her health, but she tries to hide it.
---
After killing Naraku & acquiring the entire jewel, Kagome sighs & gives it to Kikyō, honestly believing she deserves it more mostly because of Inuyasha’s bullying of her. After discussing it with Inuyasha, Kikyō uses the jewel to turn him human, entirely believing it is a selfless wish & would destroy the jewel.
It doesn't & instead of getting rid of Inuyasha's yōkai half, it splits the hanyō completely in 2, including his soul, leaving 2 Inuyashas, 1 fully human & 1 fully yōkai. Neither have the once hanyō’s doggy ears.
The jewel disappears, but isn't destroyed. After some confusion over the situation, yōkai Inuyasha (Inu; has the pointed ears of a yōkai & his father's curved zigzag stripes on his cheeks) glares at both Kikyō & his human half, then turns to Kagome & wraps his arms around her, burying his nose in her neck, while human Inuyasha (Yasha) just looks back at Kagome, Sesshōmaru, & his yōkai half with some unreadable expression, then turns away & steps close to Kikyō.
The tachi are forced to wait for the jewel to appear again. That doesn't happen for a long time. Inu is still Inuyasha (just like how Yasha is also still Inuyasha), but he took Kagome's words to heart about him not being guilty of Kikyo's death. As far as he's concerned, he avenged Kikyō when Naraku died. His job was done. Also, Kikyō makes him feel like he’s the little bits of fat that come along with the steak Mrs. Higurashi made for him once. Or another example would be comparing Inu to the chaff & Yasha to the wheat. An unwanted byproduct of the thing that she desires; meant to be cut off & thrown in the trash. If she didn’t want him, then he didn’t want her.
This meant that he also doesn’t see a point in being horrible to Kagome anymore. No need to push her away when she was the only one that really wanted him.
He also wins the Tetsusaiga from his human half when he was too stubborn to give it to him. It wasn’t like it’d work for the ningen anyway. Yasha got to keep the fire rat robes though, because he was human now & honestly needed it more. The kotodama, however, disappeared & reappeared around Inu’s neck upon his manifestation. That really pissed Yasha off.
---
Yasha marries Kikyō, but it isn't as happy as he'd thought it'd be. For one, Kikyo's still dead & there's no way he's gonna have sex with a corpse. They are also unable to have children because of it even if he did tap that. So there’d be no point considering any possible pleasure to be had from such an encounter would be inconsequential compared to the discomfort of rutting with a clay figure. I don’t care how much lube you apply, a clay vagina is going to feel like sandpaper regardless!
Also, as much as he loved Kikyō, she’d always been very melancholic & almost sad with her lot in life (A/N: Which is nothing against her. She didn’t like where her life was going, which made her sad; that’s fair!), but now that she’d been resurrected as a clay doll, she was even more melancholic! Positively depressing even! She was unable to feel at all, she was always talking about death & Hell & the life they could’ve had & he was beginning to wonder if they would’ve been happy together had it actually gone the way they’d wanted. (Those Potterheads out there may see a resemblance to the story of the Deathly Hallows. In which 1 of the brothers asked Death to give him a stone that could bring back the dead? He brought back his dead wife & the remainder of his life was absolutely miserable. This is the feel that I’m going for with Inuyasha & Kikyo’s relationship. No hate on Kikyō, at least not Kikyō before Naraku, but the dead & gone shouldn’t be dragged back into the living & made to play house. Kikyō post-resurrection, however, I have many problems with, chief amongst them being that she CONSUMES HUMAN SOULS!!!)
Yasha knows that he loves Kagome & that Kikyō isn't the woman he used to love, she’d obviously changed since she died; she was darker, colder, but he has let his guilt rule him. Also, the reality that Kikyō never truly accepted him & had only wanted him if he became human sits, festering, in the back of his head. (She’s wrong for this, but remember that she’s only like this because that was the sort of perspective she’d been taught all her life. The fact that she was willing to be with him at all, in any capacity was actually very forward-thinking of her.) He is very jealous of his yōkai who gets to be with the 1st person to ever fully & completely accept both sides of him besides his own mother.
Inu doesn't have the problems Yasha does, being rejected by Kikyō woke him up from that nightmare, so he rebuilds his relationship with Kagome. He is desperate to be with her however he can.
Time goes by; it takes a long time for Inu to get over Kikyō, but he eventually gets there with Kagome’s help. Once he does, Kagome, Inu, & Sesshōmaru work things out. It starts out as a triangle, the 2 brothers competing for her affections with Koga sometimes butting in, but by the time she goes to collage to become a doctor with a minor in veterinary medicine, they've become a trio.
As much as the brothers hated each other, they loved their miko more & were willing to put their hatred aside for Kagome's sake. Even if it meant they’d have to learn to not despise each other in the process. (The reason this works is because dogs are known to be polyamorous on occasion & Kagome is more open-minded about these things being a modern girl.)
They were mated, Kagome becoming the Lady of the West & head healer for the House of the West & alpha bitch to Sesshōmaru’s alpha male status. Meanwhile, Inu became Kagome & Sesshōmaru’s beta. Inu had to submit to being Kagome’s second mate, meaning he’d have fewer say-sos in the relationship. It’s something of a consequence for his actions as Inuyasha who’d effectively made Kagome secondary to his doomed relationship with Kikyō.
To prove his dedication, he had to submit to both Kagome & his brother.
---
Kikyō continued to need to consume souls & slowly, over time, Kagome continued to feed more of her soul to Kikyō. Until they were evenly split, half & half. At which point, it seemed to allow the undead miko to stop needing to consume souls. She was still an undead clay figure though. This results in Kagome having a reduced immune system & the occasional severe coughing fit.
Inu doesn’t get along with Yasha because he feels like he was abandoned. He’s extremely petty about it & likes to show off just how happy he is with his bitch & alpha. As if to say, “we don’t need you” or “we never needed you.” It isn’t uncommon for Inu to take Kagome into his arms & lay an absolutely ravenous kiss upon her within view of Yasha.
Yasha was certifiably miserable. Inuyasha had always hated his human nights & now that Yasha was like that full time, it was worse & so difficult to get used to. He was practically deaf, he could barely smell (he couldn’t use Kagome’s scent to relax anymore), & he was just so weak now! The worst part was that he’d never bothered learning to fight as a human, so now he was just pathetic! He’s always gotten onto the others for being weak, but now he, himself, was a liability.
He almost seems to have a bit of a split personality about him. With Kagome & the others, he’s as gruff & jerkish as ever. With Sesshōmaru & Inu, he’s even more so, his jealousy shining through. However, he almost seems to become a bit of a pushover with Kikyō. He never puts up a fight when he’s with her.
Despite his vitriol, he still obviously has a torch going for Kagome. He gets upset when she wants to go home & whenever she’s gone, Yasha doesn’t stray far from the well.
This isn’t to say the Inu isn’t gruff & ornery, but he’s less so than Yasha as a byproduct of being on better terms with the others.
---
As for Kikyō, she’s not evil (despite the soul eating thing, I WILL NOT get over that); she’s just depressed & dissatisfied with her lot in life. She also has a selfish & petty streak about her, but that doesn’t make her a bad person (the soul eating does). Now, though, she’s just trying to hold on to what little life she can for as long as she can. She knows that a large part of the reason Yasha married her was guilt & a sense of duty. His longing glances to her reincarnation doesn’t escape her notice & she isn’t even able to feel jealous about it because she can’t.
She also knows that Kagome is slowly dying because of how much of her soul is in Kikyō & part of her doesn’t want to stop it, hoping in the back of her mind that if her copy did eventually give her the futuristic miko’s entire soul that maybe Urasue’s spell would turn her flesh & blood again & she could have a chance at life again.
The truth is, Kikyo already has the portion of Kagome’s soul once belonged to her, as well as a healthy portion that never did. As such, if Urasue’s spell could’ve turned her human again it would’ve by now. It’s a fool’s errand. Unless given a specific destiny that would allow such, the long dead should not return to life.
She has her human Inuyasha & now all she needed was a human body. (A/N: Whether she acts on these selfish impulses is up to the writer. Also, keep in mind that she shouldn’t get a new soul because then she wouldn’t truly be Kikyō. I refuse to believe that it could be so easy to fix this situation. You’d think that by getting a different soul for herself, it’d cause her to go through some sort of major personality shift. I don’t it when people do something like this just because they want everything to be tied up all nice & neat.)
Chapter Two: First time Encounters
Disclaimer: I do NOT own InuYasha and all that stuff…..things would have been different if I did . I do own this story line and any and all new characters that will be popping up
A/N: Alright, finally I present Chapter two! Please forgive this poor writer's slowness ;-;
Chapter Two: First Time Encounters
"I….am….going….to…kill….that…cat…" Souta muttered, his voice laced with anger as he pushed himself into a sitting position and laid a hand on his head rubbing in slight pain. Brushing his long bangs from his eyes he glanced around trying to figure out where he was. "Shit….." he muttered under his breath as his eyes were met with wood and climbing plants. 'First I'm going to skin it…..than I'm going to make a nice new bag for Onee-chan….' His internal rant was cut short as he looked up, intending to call him mother to toss down the rope latter. "I….am in so….much trouble…." He breathed as his eyes were not met with the ceiling of the well house…but of clear blue sky and the sun filling the will. He stared, his eyes wide, mind not fully registering what had just happened to him. Slowly he held his hand up, catching a leaf that floated lazily down to him, and then his mind caught up with what had happened. He had just fallen down the well…and it had worked.
Slowly he pushed himself up and brushed himself off and he quickly tried to think of what he was going to do. 'First….I need to get a safe place…..That, CRAP WHAT'S HER NAME?! oh…Kaeda yea….her place should do….' He thought as he examined the wall to try and climb out. Finally he found some good solid foot holds 'Must be Onee-chan's. ' he thought offhandedly as he started climbing carefully. As he climbed he ran through everything that Kagome had ever told him of where everything was. Half way up he had to adjust his weight only now realizing that he still had his backpack slung over his shoulder.
'Alright, I just have to go…..east….no…North….no' Once again, his internal monolog, or as he liked to call it his 'ETERNAL MOVIE!' was cut short as what he was gripping to keep himself to the wall, gave way. With a cry of surprise his arms flailed as he tried with all his might to keep his balance, but it was useless. "SHIT!" he cried out as he felt his body start to fall backwards away from the wall and into air. On instinct he closed his eyes, preparing for the contact with the ground that he was sure was going to hurt.
Suddenly his quick decent was stopped as he was jerked to a halt midair with a grunt of the sudden stop and before he could react any he was pulled upwards and suspended there. "You are unharmed." A deep calm voice said from somewhere in front of him. Slowly he cracked one eye to see who it was. At first all he saw was a mass of white hair and a glint of golden eye. The name 'InuYasha' quickly came to his throat, but died before ever reaching his lips. His 'rescuer's' hair was longer, and more tamed than InuYasha's and his eyes…..his eyes were colder, deadlier and sure as hell more gold than the hanyou he knew so well. On the man's face were a pair of dark, reddish purple stripes that looked more like tattoos. As he quickly studied the man before him he saw that the same marks were on his wrist and over his eyelids, and finally, a crescent moon adorned his forehead. Slowly, and promptly a name flowed through his mind as his eyes scanned the man's attire as well.
"Y-You're Sesshou-maru-sama!" he stammered, swallowing in nervousness. 'Ok Souta….stay calm….focus…..don't let the powerful inuyoukai see how fucking FREAKED OUT YOU ARE!' he shouted in his mind. "Hai." The inuyoukai lord said, raising an eyebrow as his own golden eyes studied the boy.
'He wears strange attire….just like that miko.' He thought off handedly as he looked at the odd haori and hakamas the boy wore.
"Ah…A-Arigatou, Sesshou-maru-sama." He said swallowing and watching the silent lord that held him above the well.
After a long moment Sesshou-maru silently looked at the ningen boy that he held above the empty run down well. A slight frown creased his marble like feature as he discretely sniffed the boy's scent. 'His scent….it's almost just like that onna's! That miko that travels what that bastard brother of mine!' he thought angrily, a low growl pulling from his throat. At the sound of the man growling Souta flinched on instinct but still watched him warily, his eye and face not revealing how terrified he was on the inside. The inuyoukai watched the boy, inwardly bemused at the lack of fear, even though it was obvious.
"SESSHOU-MARU-SAMA! WHERE DID YOU GO M'LORD?!" a young high pitched voice called from the forest around them, causing Souta to start a little and the lord in question to glance to his right.
"I am right here, Rin." He said with an inward sigh, sometimes he took a lot to remember why he kept the loud young ningen onna with him. Turning his gaze back to the boy in his grasp he spoke "Remove all your weapons."
Souta swallowed, gaining strength for his voice "I…I have none m'lord." He said, remembering to add in the honorific, not wanting to be killed just yet.
"Do not lie to me boy." Was the inuyoukai's cold reply, warning etching his words in stone.
"I'm not. I swear I'm not!" he tried to assure the dangerous man before him. Quickly her emptied his pockets, both pants, and jacket. Holding out his hands he showed him that all he had were small things. In his palm lay a few yen, some scraps of paper, two Mars bars, a handkerchief and his house key.
Sesshou-maru blinked and looked at the items. He was able to figure out what the paper was, the square of fabric, though he was confused as to why it was nearly scentless, even the money and key, but the bars of sweet smelling something intrigued him. Souta watched him, seeing that he was examining the chocolate in his hand as he lowered to sit on the lip of the well. "I-It's candy…from my land." He explained lamely as he quickly opened one of them. Sesshou-maru watched him carefully as he moved as he sensed Rin coming closer. Watching with sharp eyes he carefully took the corner the boy had broken off and offered to him. Slowly he sniffed it, checking for poisons before slipping it into his mouth.
Sesshou-maru blinked quickly at the taste of the brown sweet in his mouth, while Souta inwardly prayed that InuYoukais weren't affected by chocolate like regular inus. "It is…..strange." Sesshou-maru admitted finally as the chocolate melted into his mouth.
Souta opened his mouth to speak, but was cut off by a small girl crashing through the brush, causing him to jump slightly. 'I'm going to die from a heart attack if that keeps happening.' He thought ruefully as he watched the small child come up to the tall inuyoukai without even a second thought. "What is that Sesshou-maru? Who is that? Is he my new guard person?" she asked, firing off her questions much too fast for anyone to answer them. But upon examining the taiyoukai's face, he didn't seem to mind.
"It is sweets. And the rest has yet to be seen." Sesshou-maru said calmly, unaffected by her hyper too fast questions. In his cold eyes, if one knew where to look, they would see how he was calculating the situation that had been presented to him. By scent he could tell that this boy was a relative of that miko onna, and maybe, just maybe, he could use this to his advantage.
As the white haired inuyoukai thought Rin approached the lanky boy on the side of the well. "Good Morning. What's your name? Mine's Rin!" she said cheerfully, giving him a toothy smile. Souta blinked and looked down at her before giving her a small smile.
"Good morning….I'm Higurashi, Souta. You can call me Souta." He said as he leaned forward, his arms resting on his knees. Rin smiled brightly and Souta was taken aback at how everything actually did seem brighter when she smiled like that. It was something he never saw in his time. A smile of pure and utter innocence.
Slowly he smiled back. "It's a pleasure to meet you Rin-kun." He said gently. Rin smiled at him, rocking on her heels.
"What's that?" she asked sweetly, her dark eyes on the open candy bar in his lap, the handkerchief spread out under it. Souta blinked, having totally forgotten about it while he watched her and made sure not to make any fast movements around the ever watching inyoukai.
"Oh, this is sweets from my land….." he said as he broke a square off and held it out to her. "Be careful, it'll melt." He warned as she took it. She looked at him with wide eyes.
"Like a candle?!" she said as she sniffed at him. He gave a small chuckle.
"Hai…kinda like a candle, but tasty." He said rubbing the back of his neck. 'This could be a bad idea…..' he thought as he watched her wide eyes grow wider and her face light up as she stuck the square into her mouth.
----------
"Boy, why are covered in the scent of the miko onna that travels with the hanyou InuYasha." Sesshou-maru suddenly questioned, causing both young ningen's to look up at him. Souta stared at him for a moment before slowly answering, confirming what Sesshou-maru already knew.
"She is Onee-chan, m'lord." He said politely as he looked up at him.
"YOU'RE KAGOME-NEE-CHAN'S OTUKO-SAN?!" Rin cried excitedly as she looked up at him happily. Sesshou-maru looked down at him young ward and gave an inward sigh at the sight of her somehow messy face. 'How did she create such a large mess with such a small object?' he thought ruefully. As her hands came up to wipe her mouth with her kimono sleeve he caught her hands, kneeling slowly before her.
"Jaken." He called, not needing to raise his voice.
"Hai, Sesshou-maru-sama!" the green toad youkai said as he scurried to his master's side from the bushes, Souta making a disgusted face at the sight of him.
'I must remember to kill him for allowing Rin to go through the forest alone.' He thought to himself. "A cloth." He ordered in a calm tone.
"Hai!" Jaken said as he fished out an expensive silk cloth to wipe her face with. Sesshou-maru eyed the cloth some, having an odd feeling that whatever it was covering the young child's mouth, would ruin the cloth.
"Here…." He glanced up some as the ningen boy knelt in the grass, his odd straight black haori's clashing sharply with the emerald of it. Carefully Souta wiped Rin's face and hands clean with his handkerchief. "There you go, all clean." He said with a smile as he folded it some and shoved it in his back pocket.
"Arigato Souta-chan, are you really Kagome-nee-chan's otuko-san?" she asked in wonder looking up at him. He gave her a nod and smile
"Hai, I am. And I can tell you…." He paused for effect, pretending to look around "She snores." At this Rin burst into a fit of giggles.
"You're that baka wench's otouko-san?!" Jaken squawked as he looked at Souta in disgust, as if he was tarnished just by being near him. At this Souta's leg darted out, swiftly going between the space that was there between Sesshou-maru and Rin, the rest of his body crouched and balanced. His foot connected with the toad's face harshly sending him flying back. Silently Souta slid his leg back under him glaring at Jaken.
"Never, call my onee-chan that, or speak of her in such a way, her name is Higurashi, Kagome." He said icily.
Sesshou-maru look at the ningen as he stood, Rin going to see if Jaken was alive. The boy remained crouched watching. 'Hai, this ningen could prove very useful…'
A/N: Yay! The end of chapter two! And what do you know, Sesshy and Rin have had sugar!
I glared and he huffed, flipped his hair over his shoulder and exited. "This Sesshomaru will go tend to important matters."
I initiated a link, because I wanted to make fun of him, not because I didn't want to feel him close to me or anything.
^'Liar.'^
~'Important matters like grooming and bonding with your daughter that is royally pissed at you? Gonna go beg for forgiveness? Or are you going to go bathe and change into a less bloody kimono? 'Cuz you look like you got your a## kicked.'~
He growled too low for ningen to hear in response and I laughed.
Things were finally looking up.
Fandom: Inuyasha Pairing: Sesshomaru/Kagome Rated: Mature-Explicit
Summary: Sometimes a ningen soul will become a youkai if it doesn't move on fast enough. Kagome learns what it's like to start off on the smaller side and work her way up through the levels of the youkai hierarchy. The Shikon no Miko was given another chance at life, just not in the way she expected. And that Daiyoukai with his ningen ward is looking pretty fine. A/N:Drabble.
The picture is just two halves of the different versions of Kagome I made for the readers to see. So for a time she looks like the one on the left, and her final metamorphosis returns her to the one on the right. I cut both manips in half and aligned the parts I wanted so people could see how much she changes.
[Dokuga] [FFN]
Considering adding the fic to AO3.
